If I could give this staff six or seven stars I would. Please do your due diligence in training and socializing your dog before a vet is needed. A solid relationship with your dog goes a long way
Experiencia fantástica: This was my first visit to Blue Pearl, and I unexpectedly had to put down my dog. It was sudden and unbearably painful for me and my son. Dr. Robbins was simply amazing. She explained the condition of my dog, the options, and prognosis for each option. She agreed that our decision was the most humane option for our beloved German Shepherd. Dr. Robbins is a kind, compassionate soul, and we're very grateful she was there that evening. Additionally, all of the staff were so kind throughout the process. The follow-up, as well as receiving her remains, was seamless and compassionate. Highly recommend.

Experiencia negativa: If this review was based off of Dr. Holm alone, it would be a zero star and this would be a 5 star review if we never met Dr. Holm. Dr. Holm was nasty and cold to us in the first 30 seconds that we were in the room with her. We went in thinking our cat had a bad UTI but she told us it was cancer without any background knowledge. It threw us off so badly that we were speechless and after the amount of the bill she quoted us, we weren’t sure if we could fully afford a $1900 ultrasound that would just lead us to an answer, then pay more to treat whatever the outcome was. Mind you we had an ultrasound three days prior that we wanted to make sure we weren’t re-doing or re-paying for. While trying to talk to my husband about wether we go forward or not, she said “why would you bring your cat to an ER vet if you weren’t planning on spending any money on her?” Then proceeded to leave the room. We were then the ones who needed to call her back and just said yes to anything they needed to do. The outcome- no cancer, just a bad UTI like we thought but she jumped to the most expensive item in her book before even offering blood work- which would have alleviated the entire days worth of pain we sat through thinking our cat was full of cancer and the debt on our credit card right before our unpaid maternity leave, like we explained to Dr. Holm. This review was sent in private and no response was given, after sitting on this for a week- we decided to make it public in hopes you’ll choose anywhere that won’t make you spiral out of control for an entire day over any false claims on their pet just to make a clinic an extra penny. A certified board member who knows how to do an ultrasound on a “$250,000” machine, means nothing compared to a human with compassion who would do anything to care for your pet and make that known to the owners. We’re thankful to the other staff that took care of our cat and the manager on duty who helped us stay calm and heard us out- she’s the one who deserves recognition and the pay of a doctor.

Experiencia fantástica: This review is for the care our family received last year at BluePearl in Arden Hills. It has taken me time to write because of how emotional the experiences were, but I feel strongly that the team deserves recognition. We brought our dog in on the 4th of July for an emergency. From the second you walk in, they treat you like they understand this might be one of the worst days of your life. They moved quickly and met us practically at the door to bring him back. When we received the diagnosis, they had the impossible job of delivering devastating news. They did it with such kindness and empathy, while also providing incredibly clear education and realistic expectations. That clarity gave me peace in making one of the hardest decisions of my life. If they were simply out to make money, they could have sold me hope without substance, as I’ve seen happen to friends and family elsewhere. Instead, they were transparent about every option, every unknown, and every possible outcome. They supported my decision fully, regardless of direction, and made sure I had all the information needed to choose with confidence. They never rushed us. For a team that must walk through heartbreak with families every day, they never make you feel like just another case. The memorial care was equally thoughtful. They didn’t just “check a box.” They took multiple paw prints, nose prints, and even ear prints — all done thoroughly and with care — and later mailed them to us along with a sympathy card signed by the staff who worked with him. It meant more than I can express. Months later, our other dog was referred to BluePearl’s Internal Medicine team by our primary veterinarian. Everything I described above applied again. The technician who worked with us both times truly felt like an angel. The doctor was knowledgeable, communicative, and incredibly considerate. When you’re facing decisions that involve thousands upon thousands of dollars, vulnerability is high — but at no point did we feel taken advantage of. They provided multiple options, explained everything clearly, and supported our choices without pressure or judgment. The only note I would add — and I am not docking any stars for this — is that prescription prices can be significantly higher than online pharmacies like Chewy. That said, this is an emergency hospital, and their pricing reflects the nature of that service. If it’s not a time-sensitive situation, it may be worth checking other sources for medications. To the entire team at BluePearl Arden Hills — thank you. Thank you for your compassion, your professionalism, your honesty, and the dignity you gave our dogs and our family during some of the hardest moments we’ve ever faced. We will never forget it.

Experiencia fantástica: Literally lifesavers. Our 10 YO dog needed a 7lb mass removed in a splenectomy, and the staff at BP were so amazing and supportive. They gave us many options for proceeding, gave us worst case scenarios without scaring us, and gave us time to consider it all. The photos of our boy before and after surgery were a welcome bonus, and we took him home 48 hours later, with well wishes and clear after care instructions. I would trust BP with any of my animals!

Experiencia fantástica: Had to bring my dog here as it was the only option to fix her broken jaw. I felt like i was at a hospital with my child not a vet with my dog. They brought me and my dog into a room and discussed what happened and the different options available to fix it. 1 day after surgery and having part of her jaw removed my baby Moxxi seems like herself again. I was so stressed the last couple nights and now I can sleep easy again thanks to the great job they did with her.

Experiencia fantástica: BluePearl Arden Hills was a place I never wanted to visit, but I am so very glad I did. Over a year ago, their internal med vet Dr Tony Jarchow diagnosed our 8 year old labradoodle with untreatable nasal cancer after we visited them for a CT scan ordered by our primary vet. Dr Jarchow and the entire staff was kind, informative, professional and supportive. Our dog passed away at home within a month with the help of in home euthanasia. Dr Jarchow and his staff sent a sympathy card and the messages were so comforting. This year, starting in September, BluePearl Arden Hills provided two nights of emergency ICU care for our 14.5 year old cockapoo when he was in an Addison’s crisis (before we knew he had Addison’s). They absolutely saved his life. During his hospitalization, the staff kept me updated with photos and sweet text messages of encouragement. It meant so much to know they were loving on our little guy and giving him the best care imaginable. He was back to the emergency vet during another mini crisis a few months later on a Sunday night and again, they cared for him and me with professionalism and kindness. The vet did not judge when I said that due to his age, we were choosing to forgo further diagnostics but rather wanted to help maintain quality of life as long as we could. And finally, BluePearl provided excellent end of life care for our cockapoo on another sad Sunday when our in home euthanasia vet wasn’t available. The vet who helped us say goodbye to our sweet Charlie, in a peaceful and calm setting was Dr Ruf, and I am so grateful for her compassion, and the compassion of the staff during that heart wrenching time. The follow up from Charlie’s goodbye was so heartfelt, and I’m genuinely moved by the sympathy card from the staff, and the sweet paw and nose prints we received. BluePearl Arden Hills is a top notch, quality vet care center with an excellent staff and if I lived closer, I would have absolutely made them my primary vet. In an emergency, they are completely qualified and skilled and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone who loves a pet.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Donnell Hansen and the dental + oral surgery team were FANTASTIC to work with for my small dog's complex dental needs! Dr. Hansen and her team took the time to carefully review my pup's records and understand his medical history, talked with me about possible risks vs. benefits of different options ahead of time, ensured ALL of my questions and concerns were addressed, and kept me updated throughout the pre-op, procedure, and recovery. I am so pleased with the results, and my little guy's mouth is in such better shape! Specialty vet care is expensive anywhere, but the peace of mind I experienced feeling so thoroughly informed and thoughtfully included throughout the entire process was well worth the cost. Highly recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: My boy Obie was brought in to Blue Pearl in Golden Valley due to a collapse and then referred over to this location to check out his heart. We knew he had heart disease and when he started showing signs of even further deterioration to the point where my partner and I decided on end of life care, Dr Alexander was so incredibly compassionate and kind. Making herself available to come to our house and make sure our boy was comfortable and at peace in his own home, giving us more than enough time to say our goodbyes and having such respect made the whole process easier than it had any right to be. Saying goodbye to your baby is one of the hardest things ever so I can only hope that everyone has such a great doctor like Dr Alexander for those final moments. Experiencia fantástica: I highly recommend BluePearl. I brought my chihuahua named Kuzco in for a collapsing event and they took him right in. Dr. Hailey Everhart was so compassionate and put us at ease and gave us a realistic look on our options. Luckily we were able to bring him home and were given directions on how to monitor him going forward. Going to the emergency vet is never a place we want to go but they gave us the best experience in a hard time.

Experiencia fantástica: The cardiology doctor certified vet techs.... The whole department goes above and beyond for my Hairy Styles and her heart disease. She is a special needs girl. So emotions tend to run high, and they're so consistent, knowledgeable, sympathetic and empathetic to her every need and mine. They're very good about follow-ups. They check-in on her throughout the months. In between services, they're really great about responding back to any question.
Experiencia negativa: We took our beloved dog here for bleeding from his mouth. In 8 hours we were given several incorrect diagnoses and we brought him home in a box. This was an absolute devastating roller coaster ride. They seemed like they didn't want us to stay there and wait and our drive was over an hour one way. Plus the fact that our dog didn't know anyone there. We live with these awful decisions we made, but you put your trust in these people to do right. Pricing seemed to be $1000 for every test. Very over-priced. Our hearts ache with the loss of our dog, not saying he might have passed anyway, but at least we could rest a little easier if we would have skipped this place.
We are deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved dog and for the painful experience you described. We understand how devastating this must have been and regret that your time with us added to your distress. Experiencia negativa: I would never take another pet to this place. We expressed what was wrong with our pet numerous times when we arrived. The Dr that came to our room after waiting an hour and half, did not discuss the condition we expressed, talked more about money to care for our pet, without giving a definate answer as to what was wrong. They told us there was numerous things it could be, but were worried about the expenses more than our pet. We were told we could go home numerous times before being able to see our pet, who had a rebound, but tests were not complete. It was expressed he was a companion pet, and his care was very important to us. They called numerous times during the day causing more heartache and regret for leaving our beloved pet there. I finally snapped off at the Dr told her that first it was one type of cancer and then it wasnt, then it was another and then it wasnt. I blew up explaining that none of this is why we brought our pet in and that has not been addressed. The Dr and a colleague went to check again and claimed via phone that there was nothing there. That we could go get our pet. This being an hour and half away from the location our pet was in. Which was also expressed numerous to the Dr and staff. Just as we were leaving the Dr called again expressing that what we originally stated was happening again. She expressed chemo or radiation after having a test the next morning at a different facility. Needless to say by the time we got back down to our beloved pet, the outcome ended in euthanizing him. To add fuel to the fire they sent a sorry for our loss card in the mail. If you love your pet like we did, please do not bring them here. This place should be more than embarrassed by their actions. After the feeling of being forced to leave our beloved pet there and loosing him, one of the best companion pets in the world, I would never trust them with any of my other pets. Our world has been turned upside by his loss. And life in our home and for those he provided comfort for is no longer the same. There is a huge hole in our lives. He was truly loved more than we could ever express. He was our pet and we were his people. It's like he was designed especially for us. The Joy he brought was endless. The loss is bone chilling to say the least.

To each and every staff member who cared for Diesel— thank you for your patience and kindness. Whenever I called to check on him in the ICU, I was never made to feel like my phone call was a bother no matter how often I called or even calling in the middle of the night. Very professional, caring staff. Our Frenchie received excellent care and is slowly on the mend. I hope our Diesel never has to be seen for another emergency BUT if he does need emergency care we will only use Blue Pearl! Experiencia fantástica: My Borzoi (Russian) Hound fractured a maxillary molar which required extraction. His procedure was successfully completed after general anesthesia, dental X-ray, IV hydration, etc. . His dentist and other supporting staff were very thorough re: discussing the entire situation before the procedure and post-op after care and follow up. The facility was clean, orderly, and well staffed. No complaints other than the expense, but he is my very loved pet and pal.
Experiencia negativa: My 21 year old cat was misagnosed and was sent on his way with medication. Next morning he could not even walk! He stopped eating and drinking, even going to the bathroom. The nurse said he was critical when he was seen but sent him on his way! Monday afternoon I had to make the decision to but him down.

Experiencia fantástica: Making a decision to have your pet undergo oral surgery no doubt is a difficult decision, Blue Pearl made the decision easy. Our initial contact with Jennifer was met with thorough answers in a caring, understanding, and professional manner. The consult with Jennifer and Dr. Edstrom only reassured us that our pet was in good hands. They treated us as if we were their only patient. We appreciated the friendly, competent, and straightforward consultation. During the consult, they noticed a discharge from our pets eye that may have been caused by a trip to the dog park the day before. During surgery, Dr. Edstrom applied drops and ointment to rule out a scratched cornea and relieve any discomfort. This was not part of the plan and demonstrated their commitment to provide the best care. We also appreciated the follow-up phone calls, the email reports, and Dr. Edstrom notifying us of test results and inquiring about the overall status of our pet. Our pet is wagging his tail and we highly recommend Blue Pearl. Thank you Dr. Edstrom and Jennifer for providing us comfort in knowing we made the right decision and providing the best care for our Marley.

Experiencia fantástica: My cat was critical and thankfully my primary vet called ahead and they were waiting for us. He was in rough shape but I was fully informed on procedures and cost every step of the way. I also received some photos from the overnight care staff, which was such a nice surprise. I'm happy to say my cat is recovering and on the mend. P.S. I encourage people to have pet insurance. BluePearl will work directly with Trupanion, FYI.

Experiencia fantástica: We made the trip to Blue Pearl after being recommended by our local emergency vet. Upon arrival at 12:30am, they were waiting for us. We had no wait, and they immediately started their assessment on our Golden Retriever puppy. The Vet, Megan Smith, was absolutely amazing. She took her time to explain things and really focused on the big picture rather than a narrow assessment that could have lead us down the wrong path to many more medical bills and unnecessary treatments. Though emergency care is not cheap, we will be recommending Blue Pearl to anyone who has pet emergencies.

Experiencia fantástica: This is the second pet that I have brought to Blue Pearl. My first dog had heart disease and they helped me for the last year of his life. So when my new puppy broke his leg on the day after Christmas, I just took my dog straight to Blue Pearl without even thinking about it. They give such great care to the animals that come in. The staff is very friendly and inviting and they help make your situation less stressful. They have great specialist that other vets don’t have on staff. So it’s a one stop shop for all your pet needs in an emergency. I would highly recommend Blue Pearl to anyone who needs emergency assistance with their pet.
Experiencia fantástica: I’ve had many dogs in my life. Multiple (2-3) over the past 25 years. When our beloved Bluetick Coonhound began coughing that led to shortness of breath and belly bloating, it was painfully obvious he had a genetic heart condition. Manageable, maybe, but it’s not the doggy lottery anyone wants to be confronted with. Meds didn’t work and serious testing was critical. Blue Pearl welcomed us immediately and G was ready for testing. Our nightmare was real, G had a hereditary heart disease and with his heart operating at less than 25%, it was 3x its normal size and we were amazed that he was still alive. We lost our last lab/bluetick the same way instantly at 6. G was 5 years and 2 months. G wasn’t going to be with us much longer, there was nothing that could be done, he had maybe weeks left. Recognizing this with the fantastic Blue Pearl staff and Dr., G’s best days were behind him. It’s never easy to make that decision but as pet owners, we owe them that responsibility of understanding that medicine, regular treatments would not save G. We are grateful for the support Blue Pearl provided for us while they managed our final visit so we could peacefully send G to doggy heaven. We miss his voice dearly and his sister has been quite depressed, but we must carry on. Thanks to Blue Pearl, a humane and honorable decision was made together. We’re grateful for that.

They will say your pet is suffering, but hey, we could try some other things anyway. This place might be your only option in an emergency and they will take full advantage of that fact. Experiencia fantástica: Blue Pearls team at Arden Hills has always taken great care of our senior fur babies from PIMA to bilateral TPLOs and everything in between that requires a specialists touch. The care here is comparable to a human hospital from blood transfusions to ICU and major orthopedic surgeries. The staff are always so loving, and caring with impeccable communication. The staff have always answered any questions we have had over the years and explain everything in detail. The staff have always been more than happy to answer questions and concerns over the phone after our visits. I loved that during our PIMA journey they worked with out primary vet to ensure we were moving in the right direction and overseen their care. They are higher priced than a primary vet but that’s the price we are willing to pay for specialists, expertise, and exceptional care! This place definitely has my furbabies best interest at heart!

We came on emergency at 10:00 at night with our cat, were greeted warmly, attended to quickly, kept up to date numerous times as to what was happening and left with our Cali at midnight after her surgery. I HIGHLY recommend them. Thank you to all of the staff.
Experiencia negativa: When I asked the vet staff to send the prescription medication to Costco pharmacy, they said Costco doesn't care any of them. One of the 4 was gabapentin. I got that prescribed and sent to Costco before for car rides for $6.79 for 10 ($0.68/capsule). They made me pay $63.26 for 28 ($2.26/capsule). That's literally 3.33X as much for something I could have picked up the next day and saved myself over $44 for. If they didn't know what Costco carried, they should have checked. Vet bills are expensive. They should help people save money where they can. The other 3 were buprenorphine, onsior, and Acrpromazine. Costco, long with other pharmacies, carry the first 2. Due to smaller amount prescribed (as Costco is for bulk) those 2 were cheaper overall (not per amount) for what I needed for my cat. If I had a much bigger animal like a dog that could have been hundreds more spent on medications that I could have got cheaper elsewhere.

He gave our Golden girl a thorough exam, explained the options for testing to diagnose what was happening with our girl (if we chose to test). We had the ultrasound done and other testing. Experiencia negativa: I brought my cat in because she was trying to pee and couldn't and the other emergency clinics I called told me they had too high of a case load to see her. I told the vet and vet tech that saw us at BluePearl that in the days prior to the onset of not being able to pee that she had been in a lot of pain, had weakness in her back end, was holding her back weird in an arched position and was having obvious pain when she would jump as evidenced by hissing when she landed. We ruled out a urinary blockage, stones/crystals and UTI. HOWEVER, they NEGELECTED TO TELL ME or have it written in ANY of the documentation sent home with me that they found evidence of spinal cord/nerve compression between her L2 and L3 vertebrae that could be impacting the nerve that controls elimination. My primary vet had to tell me that after I brought her in to him and he went over the imaging results from BluePearl with me. They also did not give me any antibiotics for her bladder inflammation which my primary vet was appalled at. Do not trust these people with your babies. They will make issues seem lesser than they are, neglect to tell you all of their findings, put your cat on 3 different sedatives but no antibiotics for bladder inflammation, and make you think everything will be fine when it isn’t. I am beyond pissed and absolutely appalled at the lack of proper communication or care. To the team: I trusted you. You failed me. I hope the guilt eats you alive.

Experiencia negativa: awful. i brought my dog in because he had two sores on the outside of his mouth that were leaking fluid and blood, they weren’t able to get a good look when they took him back which i get cause he’s kind of a spaz. however, once the doctor came in, jennifer holm, i was able to have his face in my hand and specifically point out the sores. she didn’t even look, said she couldn’t see them, and recommended sedating him and getting an xray. i am beyond frustrated, an almost 500 bill and she wouldn’t even look?? her nurse was excellent, super friendly and kind but would not recommend seeing jennifer.

Experiencia fantástica: FIVE STARS FOR CARE TEAM: Everyone on the Blue Pearl Care Team was tremendously knowledgeable and caring. Do not hesitate to bring your loved one here in an emergency. ONE STAR FOR PET MEDICATION PRICING: Please know if you need to save money on pet medications have them filled elsewhere. The corporation that owns Blue Pearl and Banfield sells pet medications at much higher prices. I knew at the time the prescription pricing didn’t feel right but I was also pretty distraught when I paid the bill. Upon further research, my dog’s pain meds at Blue Pearl are $1.98 per capsule. Walgreens can fill the same prescription on the same day for 19 cents a capsule. If you have time to wait for the medication to be shipped the cost is 8 cents a capsule on PetMeds.com. The same is true for Yunnan Baiyao, the blood clotting Chinese Medicine herbs for bleeding dog cancers. A 16 capsule box at Blue Pearl is $38. It’s $20 a box at our local Chinese Medicine School. You can find the same medication for $14 a box online. It’s $10 a box online if you select a 5 box pack plus free shipping and somehow tax free. Hope this information helps.

It was an emotional experience and the staff did an amazing job getting us in right away, explaining what they needed to do, and handled the collaboration with poison control. I am super thankful for them and would recommend this location.
Experiencia fantástica: On this past Tuesday we had the unfortunate need of ER vet services for our 2 year old GSP. I am very happy to say that their Dr's knowledge and quick diagnosis of Addison's Disease helped save our boy...I don't think had we not had a vet with the knowledge that Dr Holm has we would have either spent more time/money on trying to find out the diagnosis or not found it in time. The fact that we had to carry our dog in and he was able to walk out less than 5 hours late truly shows how outstanding care we received. The follow up phone call confirming Addison's was also great to get further advice on talking to our primary vet and next steps was also great! I also appreciated them working with us on the price and not performing unnecessary steps in his diagnosis.
Experiencia fantástica: We brought our 15 year old cat in after our vet recommended it after bad kidney values. The intake process was a little slow and frustrating but everything afterwards was great. Our cat ended up being there for a few days to get fluids and flush his system. We got regular text updates which helped us feel more at ease while he was away from home. We also got to come and visit him, they gave us a room and time to see him which was amazing. We’ve never had that before and it really helped the experience feel a little better. Everyone was so nice and sweet, and it’s been great to see the same folks again for each follow up visit. Dr Mourning is amazing and Twyla always helps put us at ease and reassure us that things are normal. While I don’t hope anyone needs a pet ER, I’d recommend BluePearl to anyone that does.
Experiencia negativa: We brought our puppy into this place in severe pain, dehydrated, and was drooling so bad she was soaked, she also had diarrhea. We experienced this one other time and let them know this. It’s important to say we were one of two patients in the ER clinic. They took our dog and brought her in back and placed her into a kennel. Three hours later and after we asked several times for updates the doctor examined her. they made her sit in pain and drooling for three hours with no anti nausea meds, no hydration NOTHING!!! We finally see the doctor and it’s a female doctor. That’s fine by us maker female.But she goes down 5 different roads and all critical such as heart issues, brain issues, seizures, and more. She finally gets to what she wants to do. She wants to blood work to check her sugars, she wants to do some seizure test. After 20 minutes of listening to her talk to us like we were 2. I finally got upset and said treat her for the nausea/pain and let’s see if the drooling stops. She looks at me and says if we don’t check her sugars she can expire. I then said you let her sit for three hours soaking wet in drool. If you were that concerned about her sugars why did t you check them three and half hours ago. She had nothing to say to me. NEVER will any animal I own go back to this money making machine. Horrible!!! By the way after they finally treated her biases and pain she is like a new dog today. My bill was almost $500. Lastly I asked her how long it would take to get her completed because it’s been four hours she stated 15 to 30 minutes. 80 minutes later we left. A total of almost 5 hours. DISGRACE!!!

Experiencia fantástica: Both the BluePearl teams at Arden Hills and Golden Valley have been fantastic with the care of my elderly cat who has mammary cancer. I would like to remind any reviewers who complain about long wait times—this is an emergency vet clinic. If you are waiting for a long time, that means you will eventually go home with your pet. If your pet is seen immediately, that means the pet’s life is in severe danger. So if you have to wait, don’t be mad. It just means your pet will probably be ok. I would also like to add that I don’t agree with the reviews saying they “nickel and dime you.” Both clinics are expensive, but in my experience they’ve been incredibly transparent about cost, communicative about my options, and keep my financial position in mind when they prescribe meds and recommend treatments. My cat was diagnosed with mammary cancer last spring, and she’s still alive and kicking and purring and playing on her iPad and going for stroller walks and begging for treats. Thanks to the blue pearl teams at BOTH the AH & GV clinics for finding the right combo of medication to help my baby stay comfortable and keep on keepin’ on.

Our 6-month-old puppy was seriously injured by a horse, and our vet recommended that we take her to Blue Pearl in Minneapolis. We didn't know what to expect. But when we arrived that evening, we were greeted warmly, and after speaking with the staff, who explained to us which surgery would be necessary and the procedure, we felt that our little Rosi was in the best hands. Early that morning, I received a call saying she was doing well. A few hours later, the vet called me and talked to me about the procedure. There was no rush. Everything was discussed in detail. I never felt like they weren't taking their time. The friendliness of the entire staff there is simply impressive. I was informed about Rosi's condition via text message throughout the entire operation. I was able to call a person who was directly responsible for Rosi at any time. That was simply fantastic. This is the best veterinary clinic I've ever been to. I highly recommend it. Rosi and I felt well looked after there, and thanks to Blue Perl, Rosi is jumping around our garden again as if nothing had happened.

Experiencia negativa: I would NEVER recommend ANYBODY take their precious little fur baby to Blue Pearl in Arden Hills. Please go ANYWHERE else!! I took my cat in because of vomiting and no appetite. They did an exam and blood work and they both came out fine. They wanted to do an ultrasound the following morning and I agreed. They gave him sedation and did the test. When it was done they told me it was probably cancer and they suggested doing a $9 to $10,000 surgery to verify it. How stupid was this idea: if it wasn't cancer, I would've put my poor baby through an unnecessary surgery at a cost that was absolutely ridiculous and if it was cancer, opening him up would've made it spread twice as fast!! It was like they didn't look at him like a precious pet, just a piece of meat with a great price tag!! They also didn't tell me the after affects of sedation and they doubled up on very expensive medication that was way more than he needed. I took my baby to our family vet the following day and he told us also that it MIGHT be cancer, BUT it could also be lower intestine inflammation that he would try and treat with a very mild steroid if he still wasn't eating or lost anymore weight. He genuinely cares about all pets, he's a great vet, and never has given us a diagnosis like he's reading a weather report!! Blue Pearl in Golden Valley is wonderful. But if you truly love your pet, drive past Blue Pearl Arden Hills because it was a huge expense and emotional mess that no one needs, least a sick precious fur baby!

Experiencia fantástica: My first visit to BluePearl was very comforting in a stressful situation. I had been told my sweet cat had cancer, so I was taking her in to be seen by a specialist. She was seen promptly, and I was kept in the loop on the procedures and costs along the way. The doctor and vet technician were very kind and caring to both me and my cat. Fortunately, they were able to confirm she did not have cancer.
Experiencia fantástica: I recently had an emergency with my Cairn terrier on a Sunday afternoon and found BluePearl close to me. My contact with the staff and especially the doctor was very positive. I was updated a number of times throughout the day and about eight hours later I was able to pickup my dog. I have mentioned BluePearl to friends and will definitely use them if, heaven forbid, I need their services again.
Experiencia fantástica: Staff were very friendly and helpful. Comfortable waiting area and vending machines. The vet was very reasonable in ordering the test that we needed without ordering excessively. I love that they have coffee and hot cocoa and tea available because wait times can be very long because of the unpredictable nature of emergency veterinary care. In fact, that’s my only negative about the visit, the long wait times, but that can’t be helped. I called ahead & was told wait times were 3-4 hrs so knew going in. We were there from 10:15-4 ,but I believe there was a dog that crossed the rainbow bridge while we were there as they have a candle that they put on when someone’s saying goodbye.

The front desk staff was lovely, vet techs were very helpful with all my questions, and the surgeons were prompt with keeping me informed. With a potential blockage, they eased my mind and no question was a dumb one. Thank you Blue Pearl team!
Experiencia fantástica: I'm amazed at the support, care and compassion every employee I met gave me and my sweet girl Olli. She was admitted into the ICU and stayed there for about about 28-30 hours. I was able to visit her and spend some time with her in a private room. It was a traumatizing experience and I will continue to pray we never go through it again. Blue Pearl Hospital saved my dog's life and I will forever be grateful to every staff member who cares for her while she was there. I'm so thankful to have my sweet girl home
Experiencia fantástica: I drove 4 hours to this hospital because they were the only team willing to speak with me (for multiple days I’ll add) about my dog’s complex medical history before even booking an appointment with their dental team. I was so worried to have her undergo anesthesia due to complications during past procedures, but everything went surprisingly smoothly for my dog, which I believe is entirely due to their knowledge and expertise. Truly a 5-star team!

Experiencia fantástica: This is our second experience with Blue Pearl. The surgeons we worked with were patient in explaining the possibility of our Max having cancer. They walked us through each step beginning with drawing of the cells that were sent out for testing. When the surgeon called us two days later, she had the unhappy task of relaying the bad news. Our Max had two different types of cancer, which required a different treatment for each. She was very patient in explaining both and answering our questions. Of course, this was not the news we were expecting. She graciously said if we had any more questions or just need to talk to someone at Blue Pearl again, we should not hesitate to reach out. I would never hesitate to work with Arden Hills location again.
Experiencia fantástica: We took our puppy here after visiting the Blaine clinic the day before (which was fantastic as well), since he wasn’t showing the improvement we had hoped for and needed additional testing only available at the Arden Hills location. The team at Arden Hills was excellent. Dr. Otten did a great job walking us through which tests needed to be run, what their concerns were, and what the results meant. They were very friendly, professional, and clearly experts in their field. Our little guy is feeling so much better thanks to them. Highly recommend trusting them with your pet’s emergency care. We are so grateful for the compassion and dedication they showed.
Experiencia fantástica: As many others have stated Blue Pearl of Arden Hills was an exceptional experience. Our boy Nova was very sick and wouldnt hold in anything from either end. On the first visit he was diagnosed with gastroenteritis. Given IV fluids and some meds as well as blood work and an ultrasound to check for a blockage. We were given more meds when we brought him home that night. Unfortunately his condition worsened and we had to make a 5am trip back to the hospital where he stayed for two full days. We were given updates every shift and sent a picture when he was going to bed. They took very good care of our baby and I would not hesitate to go back. Shout out to Sarah for all the messages!
Experiencia fantástica: I’ve used Blue Pearl pet hospital twice. Most recently my cat was presenting with urinary issues. I was worried about blockage with can be deadly. They saw us quickly and assessed my cat’s condition. They communicated every step including price. They were slammed with priority emergencies. They were professional and thorough.
Experiencia fantástica: This Blue Pearl location was great to work with. Our 14 month shih tzu has irregular heart beats and the Dr. went as far as asking other vet professional what could be causing. it. This Critical Care Vet, Mallory Delaney even did following checks. We had already visited the U of M Cardiac Care and they too could not determine the cause of the sporadic irregular heart beats. Thank you for your concern. Pets are important to people that own them.
Experiencia fantástica: Brought my puppy in for an emergency visit on labor day. Everyone was so nice. It ended up being not as serious as I thought. He hurt his leg playing with another dog i thought it might be broken. They checked him out gave us some meds and recommendations they did not pressure us for stuff that was unnecessary just to make extra money and the price i paid for an emergency visit was just a little more than half the cost I have paid at other emergency rooms so that was nice. My pup is doing well just trying to keep him calm for a couple days to heal of course he wants to play. Very happy with my experience at this location. Saved them in my phone in case I ever need to go back.
Experiencia negativa: Another not so good experience here. I called BP Arden Hills yesterday regarding my 7 month old puppy. He had been at hunting school and returned not eating and straining while defacating. We literally could not get him to eat. Concerned about a blockage, they asked if I could bring him right in, as they were not busy. As I got to the parking lot, they called me to ask that we not come inside and that we wait in our vehicle, which was fine. They said their ER team would contact me shortly. I spoke with ER who told me they wanted to do a Parvo test on my dog first before examining him. Again, fine. They said they would be out to retrieve him “in a minute or two”. Fast forward forty minutes…I am now still sitting in my car with my dog and my 5 year old granddaughter. I called the front desk and asked if they had perhaps forgotten us. I was met with the most annoyed attitude I have ever heard. The receptionist lit into me and said they had a critical care patient that they put in front of us and that it would easily be 2-3 hours before we could now be seen. She then went off about the Parvo test without me even mentioning it. In response, I told her my pure bred golden did not have Parvo, and she continued her rant. She told me that this is their protocol for every dog under a year. (Side note: this is not true as I have brought another puppy in at 10 weeks and we did not require a Parvo test. I told her it was not going to work for us to sit in the car another 2-3 hours with a preschooler and I was going to contact my home vet. We ended up leaving and driving to our vet in Stillwater, where they happily welcomed all of us inside and fit my puppy into their schedule. After X-rays and exam, it appears my guy may have a parasite, which they are now treating. *He does not have Parvo! In short, after spending over 20K at Blue Pearl the past 11 years, we will be looking at a new ER vet for our pets. In the height of an emergency, it is simply unacceptable to be treated the way I was. Perhaps BP needs to look into customer service training for their front desk employees and also might want to make sure that if something happens and they are not “going to come grab your pet in a few minutes”, they call you and let you know what is going on. I will be taking my pets and my money elsewhere following this experience

Experiencia negativa: As if having something tragic happen to your furry loved one isn't painful enough, this place absolutely takes advantage of people's tragedy for their own beneficial gain. We were told limb removal would save our dog and give her a long healthy life and prognosis was good, only to find out the cancer had ALREADY spread and she died in 3 months! Why didn't they do a PET scan?!? $9,500 for a limb removal. $382 for cell testing. $1000 for an ultrasound. I had to take money out of my retirement account to pay the bills. And there are NO good-faith payments here. Our last visit I overheard one guy come in with an emergency. He put $5,500 down and on a $11,000 emergency sugerery estimate. They said they wanted another $5,000 before proceeding. They then called back to surgery to stop prepping for surgery until he paid them the remainder of the estimate. Only THEN did they start surgery. Hopefully his animal wasn't bleeding out or dying!! This place doesn't care about your animal, their bottom line IS MONEY!!!! I hate this place and would never recommend anyone go there ever.

Experiencia fantástica: The team at Blue Pearl were amazing. They took such good care of Bennett and it was unfortunate he needed to stay overnight, but they sent pictures and communicated so well. Their expert cardiologists diagnosed and treated him so he was able to come home quickly and helped us with a care program. We are so grateful for the loving care they provided him. Highly recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: We recently had our cat, Toothless, require a PU surgery to prevent continuous urinary blockage. Staff was very nice and they helped us understand every aspect of the surgery. Staff kept in contact with us and sent pictures of our cat throughout his stay and responded to questions whenever we asked promptly. They were able to help us on price as this can be an expensive surgery and it was nice to know they did try to aim for more affordable care. 10/10 would recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: BluePearl’s quick action saved our dogs life. After Gus’ stomach flipped we rushed him to the location in Blaine. They immediately took him back and were able to stabilize him. After confirming we wanted to move forward with the surgery they scheduled it at the Arden Hills facility for that very night. The next afternoon I was able to bring him home and a few days later he is already getting back to his dopey self. Every step of the way they thoroughly explained his treatment plan, any risks and the associated costs. I will forever be in their debt for what they did for us.

Experiencia fantástica: BluePearl Pet Hospital loves my cat... probably more than me! Dr. Haley Carlson and Betsy have been the best to work with in making sure my cat, Chicken, is comfortable. He needed full mouth tooth removal surgery and is still struggling with stomatitis. They have been patient with my decision to hold off on medication until we all thought Chicken needed it.
