Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Kalivoda was wonderful with my 14-year-old spaniel. She is having a lot of issues with pain, anxiety and mobility. Dr. Kalivoda was patient with her and gave her a thorough exam along with some things for us to try to keep her comfortable as she continues to age including medications, chiropractic, acupuncture, and supplements. I’m so grateful to have found Mountain View Animal Hospital when I moved to Reno 9 years ago!

Experiencia positiva: I've been taking my dogs to Mt. View for nearly ten years. The care my pets recieve is the best I have ever experienced. The facility is calm and peaceful and set in a lovely location. It is more expensive than other vets I have used in the past. In particular, the medications are very high priced. Our dog was prescribed clay (Rx Clay) to add to her diet. They charged $75 but I easily found it online for $25. Last week an ozone cream was prescribed for our dog at $75, again I found it online for $25. Twice we have been booked for a "Priority Care" appointment at $130 when we booked a regular appointment at $85. These high prices are the only negative, albeit a significant one, that I can report as a customer of this business.

Experiencia fantástica: I came in today with my dog who is typically terrified of going to the vets. Jenna, the nurse who helped us, knew exactly what to do to keep my dog calm. It was probably the smoothest visit to date for this pup. Thanks to Jenna for her insightful & expert care today. A shout out as well to the two nice young women at the Front Desk, including Kymrie. (I'm sure I have mis-spelled her name.) Very welcoming & knowledgeable when answering my general questions. Good job to All!

Experiencia negativa: Attention to heart condition pet parents: I want to preface this by saying the staff is amazing, they are so kind and helpful. They were always available and easy to get ahold of for anything. I have previously written a good review, but knowing what I know now I’m changing it. A doctor in Mountain View diagnosed my dog with a heart condition (I truly appreciate that part). Immediately she was put onto meds and monitored, Dr. Malak basically told me my dog could die at any minute because they do not know how quickly it will progress. i was instructed to stop all play, stop anything that would make her breathe heavy, take her potty on a leash so she cant get excited, etc or it may kill her. I have an Australian shepherd, discontinuing exercise would destroy her and made me question her quality of life as well. I was distraught and devastated obviously. (It’s been awhile so my exact schedule may be off) 6 months later on her check up appt for her heart the doctor freaks out that my dog has fluid around her heart and in her lungs that she can hear and see via chest X-ray. They hospitalize my dog for the day ($1200ish) to get the fluid to drain, etc. I fully trust they’re saving my dog and pay the balance no issue. At that appointment they finally refer us to a cardiology specialist at blue pearl. After seeing her cardio we finally get the relief that my dog is not dying, her murmur and heart condition are there, but she is not anywhere close to heart failure/ death. We were told she can exercise and play as normal with no issues of sudden death unless it’s extremely excessive from her normal routine. The cardiologist also found it confusing that they did this fluid protocol because when she looked at the same chest X-ray she saw no clinical evidence of fluid. So I paid for a hospitalization when there was no reason to do so. After going back and explaining my concerns I was told basically the doctor did what she did based on what she interpreted. Based on this experience and lack of knowledge of heart conditions I pulled my dog and now take her elsewhere. I understand doctors cannot predict how long a dog with a condition will live, but waiting 6 months before being referred to cardiology seems like a poor choice when obviously Dr. malak was not an expert on the condition (which is to be expected with a general care doctor). My dog is my baby and that 6 months not knowing if she would drop dead and seeing her depressed from not playing was torture. I wish we had been referred from the beginning and avoided this whole period of time. I think any dog with a heart condition should be referred immediately or at least given the option for a referral. For anyone curious, my dog Aspen is doing great under the care of her cardiologist. Her heart condition is still there and she gets daily meds, her enlarged heart has shrunk (good) and her murmur has not progressed. She gets seen 2x a year at blue pearl and they are happy with her progression.

They took in Birdie right away for testing and gave us all the information, suggestions, and advice that we needed to move forward with ongoing care. Experiencia fantástica: The staff are wonderful, kind, and empathetic. They are great at what they do and they are not afraid to say that is beyond their expertise. At that point they will give you a referral and help you get an appointment there. I've been going to this vet for close to a decade and I have no complaints. Then make sure that it's not a fearful experience for the animals and in doing that it's much less stressful for the owners as well.

Once they were ready to see us, they escorted us to these cool mini cabins for a private visit with Dr. Howard, who was also great. The doctor, as all have been at the clinic, was incredibly informative and answered all of my numerous questions and concerns. If one thing could be improved, it would be scheduling our check ups to be with the same vet consistently. Only because it makes me feel more confident in her care to have a vet get to know her specifically over time, since she has SO MANY health hiccups and long term issues. But the vet we saw this time was still awesome! And I love how the vet techs get to know her overtime and show her love even though she is so standoffish and nervous. The vet this time was more cautious upon meeting her than others (understandably so because she appears so aggressive on first meeting!). And that made me even more appreciate how kind and patient she was even though Meeka can come off as kinda “scary” at first. Note: I selected reasonable price instead of “great,” But I think I may be a little less slow off than other clients. BUT I have literally NEVER Been so happy, comfortable, confident in a vet clinic. And I have been to several because we have moved a bunch of times. To me, my confidence in their care is worth EVERY PENNY, because like I said, my dog has TONS of DIFFERENT health issues!

She’s never fearful and they take excellent care of her. I think they are the best In town. I also think they’re probably one of the most expensive in town, but I will not change because I know she gets great care and she’s never afraid. The facility is spotless, there are never any unpleasant dog smells. The staff is friendly, professional and all the doctors are top notch.. What more can you ask for?

Doctor Landon is USDA certified and can deliver health certificate for travelling abroad, she is very experienced with the process and checks thoroughly the paperwork to avoid problems.

Dr. K's way with your pet is inclusive, transparent, and empathetic. The building's incredibly calming atmosphere helps for the anxious ones. This practice has thought through everything in designing their approach to vet care, for the sake of your pet's quality of life. Wish I had found this practice sooner. Highly recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: I was spoiled when we lived in the Bay Area of California. I had 2 separate Vets for our dogs. One was a holistic vet..the other a very small town vet with personalized service, who actually embraced what the holistic vet did and her advice..which is unusual. Moving to Reno 4 years ago, I was worried about our dogs, and finding the right vet practice. We landed with Mountain View. I could not be happier. With having the dual modalities to compliment each other I feel like I am right where we need to be. The only complaint(and it is small) is that it is hard to be seen by the same vet every time. I did find out they do cycle thru interns..so that may explain part of this. The other is I think they are pretty popular. So gettin an appointment with a particular vet may take a long wait time appointment. It's ok, so far I have really liked every vet my dogs have seen..on both sides. I highly recommend this practice if you are looking for complimentary medicine with the holistic side or general medicine for routine surgeries etc..this is a professional, caring practice that has the best of both worlds. Our newest addition, 7 year old Bella and our 2 other fur kids, Miss Biskit(JRT) 17 1/4 yrs old and our Maltipoo 7 yr. old Kenzie. All happy patients of Mountain View Animal Hospital.

Over the years I have come to believe that holistic medicine aligns more with how I feel. Mountain View Animal Hospital is over an hour from my home but I liked what I read so I decided to give them a try. I asked for Dr. Kalivoda as I liked her profile the best. And as it turned out, she is truly amazing. It’s obvious she loves animals and the whole setting is truly comfortable and relaxing for both humans and pets. Dr. K really takes the time to listen to your concerns and help you find treatment options that work for you. She is a warm, friendly veterinarian, not pushy at all. She has seen 4 of my dogs and I will be taking them and my other dogs and cats to her any time any of them need care. I have to also mention that the entire staff was awesome.

Experiencia negativa: I wouldn’t waste my time at this veterinary office. I paid for a heartworm test for my dog, which was negative and then paid for the heartworm medication through koala. Koala repeatedly reached out to this office to get authorization and they failed to respond. I also continually contacted this office, asking for them to respond and fill my prescription and nothing was done. I’m absolutely disgusted with the lack of follow through.

The vibe pulling into the parking lot, the warm greeting walking in, the serene decor, the energy of this place is everything you want in a vet hospital. There is no sterile, cold feeling. You can feel the people who work here actually enjoy being here. And it comes across in how we were taken care of (thank you!). We came in with an emergency surgery for my dog and we were taken care of incredibly well; my girl was in great, great hands. Thank you for saving her!! I love the holistic treatments included in the surgery. 10/10 stars! ⭐️ And there’s a beautiful walking trail right outside the building. I live in Tahoe and I will be making the drive to have all my animals taken care of here. 100% worth it. Thank you!!

From holistic approaches with Dr. Brown that has helped my pup’s IVDD to her annual checkups and care for both my dogs to priority care from Dr. Hill when my dog’s eye needed quick attention — the doctors are amazing, caring and attentive. I appreciate that their support staff checks in with you post care via text and you can tell that everyone from reception to doctors truly care about making sure you have the healthiest, happiest animals you can. The atmosphere is calm and my dogs never feel anxious going to the vet. My dogs also are big fans of all the treats and pets they get when they come in. Very much recommend to anyone looking for a safe, welcoming and knowledgeable place to take care of your pet.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog and I were met at the front door and greeted by 2 staff members that immediately checked us in. Within moments (not minutes!), the vet tech escorted us to one of the little satellite exam rooms. After the initial history taking and quick physical exam, she went to get our doctor and within 5 minutes they were back. The physical exam was gentle but extraordinarily thorough. My dog is a young rescue who is still fairly distrustful of strangers, especially those who poke, prod and manipulate. The vet and vet tech did an amazing job of putting her at ease. I am certain that she will never get “vet phobia” with the outstanding care she received at Mountain View. I really have never had a dog (and I’ve had quite a few in the 50 years of owning dogs) get better care anywhere.

Experiencia fantástica: We have only been there one time.Because our frenchie has an Ivdd in her neck. We chose to take the holistic approach with acupuncture and met davet Olivier and the vetec Shane, who are absolutely amazing with her. She felt comfortable and safe, and she was not scared. We were allowed to stay with her. The whole time and just experienced hazy relaxing for the first time in weeks. I would recommend mountain view holistic care to anyone.They are very nice people and very good with pets. Update.. visit 2.. Hazey back for round #2 acupuncture she tolerated well. She feels safe with Dr Sarah, and was curious and relaxed. She had a little episode (unrelated to the acupuncture) Dr Sarah had us go for coffee sat with hazey for a while... hazey was fine she had a little reaction to the ketamine shot... we cannot thank Dr Sarah and her staff enough. They are genuinely caring and concerned about all pets. Hazey got home slept the whole way and zonked out for three hours at home.. Update.. visit 3 Hazey has had no incident with pain. We are taking her once a month now for acupuncture treatments, Dr Sarah is so good with her, Hazey can be skittish around new people. But acts like a puppy here.. she bounces around like a Lil bunny. We highly recommend Mountain View Animal Hospital and Holistic services for any of your pets. Everyone there are super kind and friendly. You will not be disappointed.

The cat room is delightful to be in. My kitties are looking forward to going back. Dr. Hill is wonderful Doctor and I truly enjoy going over to see her and so does his little Moochie, Atticus and Misha. I highly recommend Dr. Hill. She is just a Super person. So pleasant, so nice happy very easy to talk to and offers. Excellent advice. She is aces.

The atmosphere is so much calmer than any other vet, which has greatly reduced the stress my animals normally experience. All of the staff is so kind and helpful! I am accustomed to the doctor only stopping in for a few minutes of an appointment but the vets at this office have spent nearly the entire appointment with us, ensuring that we have all the time we need to ask questions. One of my pups has some trauma that makes vet visits very difficult but the staff here made sure to take their time with her and work around her needs. Every vet should operate the way Mountain View does!

Experiencia fantástica: I cannot say enough thanks to the team at Mountain View. Our 13 year old dalmatian Flint has an aggressive form of cancer that has been spreading throughout his body. He refuses to give up and is still playing with best friend / brother every day. He still wakes up every morning to help feed the horses. Despite the ugliness of his cancer wounds the team has been there to listen to what our needs and his needs are. To not give up on him, for he will let us know when it is time to say goodbye. With just one holistic treatment, we have seen a complete transformation. Now we have even more hope that he will make it one more camping trip. Giving us another beautiful memory to store in our minds and more time with his bestie. Thank you for listening and helping our boy.

Experiencia fantástica: My 12 yr old puppy, Blue was diagnosed with cushings last year. He was given medicine by another vet hospital, and he almost died from the medicine. Found Mt View and they began acupuncture treatment. He still has cushings and a bad back, but he is so very healthy. THANK YOU Mt View Holistic Hospital for giving me so much more time with my buddy Blue! Update: my little buddy is gone , Thanks to Mt View Holistic Hospital, we got to spend another year together. He stopped eating and couldn't get up on his own. So, I made that hard decision. Mt View Holistic Hospital made those last minutes so memorable . I am all about communication and customer service. This was insanely bad and I had rearranged so many things to make this appointment. Life is stressful enough. For the prices charged, I expect to be treated better.

Experiencia fantástica: This place is absolutely awesome. We are so happy to have found Mountain View Veterinary Hospital. The vets here are the best. They care. They really care. All the folks who work there are so good with our dog and with us. They constantly check up on him and ask how he is doing. They have a treatment program which my husband and I know as “prolo therapy.” There are few veterinary clinics that practice this therapy in this country. We are so lucky to have found Mountain View. We travel for 14 hours from the Phoenix, Arizona area to Reno. It is worth it. Our sweet AussieDoodle was discovered to have hip dysplasia at three months. He is alive and well, healthy and active without any visible sign of a problem.

The vet was patient and kind and my dog was relaxed and and remained calm through a set of vaccines and blood draws. I was promptly called when the blood work results and the vet called so if I had any questions it would been easy to get them answered.

Brown and her staff are not only great with Kiko They are sweet to my girl. They go out of there way to make Kiko and Mt girl( MarshMellow) comfort. They take great care with Kiko . She can not move well because of her hips. Dr. Brown wonderful.

Experiencia fantástica: Meant to be posted on 02/06/2025 but had difficulty finding the option for a review. Dr. Landen and her talented technician Max exceeded my expectations of care. I was referred here for Sage, who had been experiencing some concerning digestive issues, and after a less-than-satisfying experience at VCA, I decided to give Mountain View a try. I'm so glad I did! From the moment I arrived for my priority care appointment, I felt like Sage and I were truly seen. Max was incredibly knowledgeable, asking detailed questions about Sage's health history, diet, and current symptoms. He then relayed all of this to Dr. Landen, who performed a thorough examination, explaining her findings at each step. For example, she carefully examined Sage's ears, pointing out early signs of a potential infection and demonstrating how to clean them properly – something that hadn't been addressed at VCA. Dr. Landen also discussed some holistic approaches to Sage's digestive issues, including dietary changes and a specific supplement. When it came to blood work, x-rays, and treatment options, the cost was surprisingly low – less than half of what I paid at VCA. They also presented several treatment options within my budget. I never felt rushed, unlike my experience at VCA, where it felt like they were trying to meet a quota. Mountain View has even called three times to check on Sage – twice yesterday and once this morning! Their compassion is incredible. I wish I had brought Sage here sooner. The thorough examinations, the educational approach, and the genuine care are beyond compare. A huge thank you to Dr. Landen and Max for their exceptional care of Sage. I am forever grateful!

Experiencia fantástica: We moved to the area about a year ago and were incredibly excited to find Mountain View. The campus is lovely with plenty of space for dogs to decompress and walk around outside as well as the ability to wait in your car until your appointment after checking if needed. There are also individual exam buildings that allow for a quieter less overwhelming experience for anxious animals. The entire staff of vets, techs pharmacists and front desk staff is friendly competent and responsive to pets and owner needs.

Experiencia negativa: Not a good day at the Mountain View Vet, where I have been taking my pets for 20 years. A vet. tech. lacking experience, no contact follow-up information after tests. .The following day after tests , no one to answer phone calls or to return voicemail or texts. Finally after numerous phone calls and texts (20 hours) I received a phone call. Luckily my dog was not seeking critical medical care. I hope this was just a bad couple of days at the office.

Experiencia fantástica: I was not at all surprised that we were treated wonderfully by the Mountain View staff. Everyone was kind, considerate, and helpful. Dr. Mendez was amazing! With his thorough examination, he was able to discern the cause of Pax’s problem, even though the emergency vet could not. Because of his expertise, awareness, and thoroughness, I was able to leave Mountain View feeling tremendously less stressed, worried, and concerned. This is huge and is one of the reasons I keep coming back to Mountain View with each of my pets. I can always be sure the issue will be investigated completely, and the determination will be sound.

Experiencia positiva: I don’t typically leave google reviews but since there’s only one current review mentioning rabbits/bunnies and it’s not very detailed. I want to share my experience for other rabbit owners looking for vets in the area that provide RHDV2 vaccines (Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease). Synopsis: I may consider returning for annual booster shots since they’re the closest option, but I’m not confident in their experience with rabbits to provide accurate advice especially for geriatric care as my rabbit gets older. 3 stars rather than fewer, because my main goal of getting his booster shot for RHDV2 was accomplished. The good: - They have the RHDV2 vaccine! This was the closest vet I could find to me (in Tahoe) that carried the vaccine. The vaccine was also surprisingly affordable for the booster, which was extra surprising given that they didn’t seem to be having a vaccine day for multiple rabbits which has been my experience at previous vets. - My rabbit was very comfortable at the clinic and came out quickly for scratches and pets, but he’s generally a bold rabbit. - They brought me tea; I have never been offered tea at a vet clinic and it was very nice! The not so good: - It was an expensive visit. Even though the vaccine was cheaper than usual, the new patient appointment cost was higher than an Ivy League Vet School’s that I’d been to. They also charged me twice the Amazon price for a inexpensive over-the-counter medication. - The vet told me that I shouldn’t be feeding my rabbit any pellet food. But didn’t provide an alternative vegetable/hay diet plan to prevent malnutrition. No other vet has been concerned about me feeding a small amount of high-quality pellets to make sure he’s getting all crucial vitamins and minerals, and I would feel very uncomfortable taking him off pellets without a diet plan provided by a trusted vet. - The vet didn’t seem to have a good understanding of rabbit behavior, and repeatedly attributed twitching as pain. Nervous restrained rabbits are naturally pretty twitchy as their defense against predators is primarily escaping and running. Neither myself nor a vet tech friend could recreate these “pain” reactions at home in a familiar comfortable environment. Overall, the vet found a lot of possible expensive issues with my rabbit that had never been mentioned by any other vet and he’s had annual exams since year 1 (he’s now 5). Though I am not completely disregarding the vet’s advice, I do not feel comfortable taking action on it without a second opinion from a vet I trust. I’m sure Mountain View has a lot more experience with dogs and cats, but I will be looking into alternatives for my exotics.
