Animal Emergency Center of Killeen: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: Unfortunately we had to take one of our babies there bc he gave us a lil scare. Thankfully, the staff was very friendly. When we pulled in the parking lot it was full but they worked efficiently and effectively to get the proper care to all of us. If there should ever be another reason that we would have to use after hour care again I would not hesitate to take any of my babies there. 10/10 recommend!!
Experiencia fantástica: Animal Emergency continues to provide timely and informed service. Have used them a number of times over the years and the service has always been great.
Experiencia fantástica: Caring, gentle, and upfront staff. I have visited once with my heeler after an emergency, and once with my Great Pyrenees mix for end of life care.. both times the vets and techs were informative, kind, and mindful of both my pets and our family. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for emergency animal care.
Experiencia fantástica: It was great, Xander did well the day after.
Experiencia negativa: I took my dog Theo here on Saturday morning. I will say that they were extremely kind but they diagnosed my dog wrong. I was told that he had allergies and was sent home with nothing. I took him to a vet this morning. All it took was one look in his eyes and the doctor said there was no possible way it was allergies. I feel if you’re going to charge $141 just for the animal to be seen, the animal should be given proper care. To not prescribe any type of medication is insane. I was also told that if I wanted to bring him back in it would be an extra $141 or possibly $100 just for them to look at him again.
Experiencia positiva: The staff were super friendly, but they do not stock dewormer for cats. We realized one of ours has worms and all the normal vets are closed, none of them are open on Sundays, and during the week the jobs my wife and I have mean we don't get home until after the normal vets close. So now we have to wait a week until next Saturday during the day to go to a 'daytime practice' and hope no other health issues from the worms crop up in the meantime. idk what we'd do if he was having more serious symptoms beyond us just being able to see the worms since they wouldn't be able to treat him here apparently :/
Experiencia negativa: I took my cat to the vet last night for a health and wellness check. They took blood and did a fecal exam. Afterward she had diarrhea and was very lethargic. This afternoon she is dead. Don't go here unless ur ready for ur pet to die.
Experiencia fantástica: We had an incredible experience at this emergency veterinary clinic. Our livestock guardian dog had a deep wound and was extremely anxious since he had never been in a clinic setting like that before. The staff went above and beyond to make him feel safe and comfortable, handling him with patience, care, and genuine compassion. They took the time to clearly explain every step of his treatment and made sure we fully understood what to expect. They also reviewed the costs with us before treatment began, which gave us peace of mind and allowed us to make informed decisions during a stressful moment. There was no sense of rushing — we felt like we were the only ones there, even though the clinic was busy with several cases that were far more serious than ours. The level of professionalism, kindness, transparency, and attentiveness we received was exceptional. We are incredibly grateful for the care our dog received and would absolutely trust this team again in an emergency. Highly recommend.
Experiencia fantástica: Want to say Thank you for taking care of our Vito with the snakebite. And calling us back and checking on him. He can feel the prayers. We greatly appreciate it.
Experiencia fantástica: We Thank You for being available in needed times. Great Service and they let you know what is going on in detail the whole time. They are there for you when you have to make that difficult decision about your loved Pet. Everyone is Great!! Thank You for being there for us! If you need a place in an Emergency, this is where you want to go.
Experiencia fantástica: The Animal Emergency Care of Killeen is Awesome! The other day I took my dog to the Animal Emergency Care of Killeen for rapid breading. Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted by a friendly receptionist. Within a few minutes, my dog's breathing was assessed and I was informed that she was not in distress, which put me at ease. In less than 15 minutes, the Doc was able to see my furbaby. After the she ooked over the notes the tech took and had gone over some medical concerns, it was determined that my dog did not need emergency care, but a specialist. The Vet realized this and could have charged me for at least the emergency exam fee, but she did not. The Animal Emergency Care of Killeen has a staff that is professional, nice, and respectful to both the fur babies and the pet parent. Additionally, the Animal Emergency Care of Killeen is more interested in providing immediate quality pet care than they are running up the bill. I trust the Animal Emergency Care of Killeen with my fur babies because I know they are in great hands. This was my second time going to the Animal Emergency Care of Killeen A few months ago I brought in a stray cat that was attacked by a large animal. This cat was also gently treated with respect. And again, the cost was reasonable. It took a month of recovery, but I now have a healthy 17 pound kitten . Thank you Animal Emergency Care of Killeen. It is comforting to know that there is a safe and caring place to bring injured animals to to receive the best care, be it a pet or a stray.
Experiencia fantástica: Yall gave us and our furbaby the best care! We could not have asked for more. Very grateful for all you did for Hudson. Unfortunately after we took him to our vet the next morning and more testing end result was not what we wanted but yall did everything you could to give him a chance. We would recommend your facility to anyone that needs emergency care. Thank you so much. We are definitely lost and heartbroken , our life without Hudson wont be the same. Also thank you for calling us to check on him. The only suggestion we have is as an emergency vet clinic, is yall should have an ultrasound, that is what showed the damage in his heart, It would have helped with making a sooner decision and financially, although I would have paid anything to keep him alive and in good health. Thank yall again
Experiencia fantástica: The staff was amazing the minute we walked in. Helped our 13 yr old Titus out when needed the most. We will be back to see you ❤️
Experiencia fantástica: They were totally awesome. Professional, honest, and didn't push for unnecessary tests or treatment!
Experiencia fantástica: The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Natasha is a superstar and she really made the whole family feel comfortable! Excellent service
Experiencia fantástica: Boomer (German Shepherd) and I recently needed a late night vet service. They responded quickly, we drove over and were taken care of with compassion. Thank you.
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you so much for the card. Losing Ginger in the way that we did was so heartbreaking and shocking. The care Ginger received in her last moments were filled with immense compassion. While the grief is still heavy in our hearts, the act of kindness this clinic gave us will forever be remembered.
Experiencia fantástica: I have had to take my dog there twice for emergencies and they have always been very professional, caring and knowledgeable. I will always bring my pets here for emergencies.
Experiencia fantástica: We are happy with our experience at the clinic! Everything was clean and the staff was incredibly friendly and caring, even though it was late and during the weekend. We had to leave our little pup overnight for monitoring but we felt completely confident he was in great hands. They even told us we could call anytime to check on him, which was very reassuring. Thankfully, not everything that was initially planned had to be done and getting refunded for unused services was completely hassle-free. The prices are a bit higher, but totally fair for the emergency care they provide. A huge thank you to Dr. Kingstad and Technician Mimi for taking such wonderful care of our dog. We hope we won't need to come back anytime soon but if we do, we know he'll be in the best hands!
Experiencia negativa: I had a friend take their dog that went to get seen he wasnt able to pay the 140 visit to be able to get the paper stating the exact amount of what it will take to fix the puppy that got attacked by a dog while they were there being seen by the vet I called and was given a quote of 2709$ and then I just now called and asked for the bill again and the lady on the phone lied to me and said because my friend didnt pay then the vet technically didnt see their dog. Then I told her about the quote I got while they were there she paused then said she dont know who I got that quote from I told her I got it from one of the people at that establishment and my friend also was let to see a bill for the cost to get their dog situated. Her name is felecia. Lady hung up on me when I started calling her out on her lies
Experiencia fantástica: Got in quick, and very professional staff I would highly recommend. Nurse was gorgeous, I wouldn't be mad if she called me but either way yes go to them
Experiencia negativa: **Update** It has been 2 weeks, and this clinic has not reached out to me. Unsure why, but I think it shows how much they don't care. Again, I strongly suggested people find another clinic. Unfortunately, I am not happy with the 2 instances I had to bring my dogs to this emergency center. My last experience on the night of 1/10/26, I brought my dog in because she had not eaten for a couple days, had diarrhea etc. The technician that was working my appointment, Mimi, is where the issue comes in. I have a 7 year old German shepherd, she's a sweet heart but takes correct handling otherwise gets overwhelmed. I used to work as a veterinary technician in Texas and 2 other states. I understand their policy states they are unable to pull blood work or do work on the animal in the room but I stated multiple times my dog does better with me. Mimi took my dog to the back for bloodwork and it took over 20 minutes which is where I should have said something. To find out, they were over restraining my dog with 4 people and muzzling her roughly, where another tech had to chime in to offer help and do it correctly. My dog was poked in just about every place possible, jugular, cephalic, and saphenous. If this facility truly cared about their patients, they would have realized my dog was stressed. Then, Mimi returns my dog to me and states my dog is absolutely horrible and other rude things. Then to the bloodwork, I paid for a CBC and Chemisty WITH ELECTROLYTES, and the bloodwork ran is missing the electrolytes. Those values were very needed for the things going on with my dog. Then the doctor stated everything is fine with the bloodwork ran and declined that any further diagnostics were needed when I asked if they were needed. Then a cerenia injection was needing to be given, and the tech Mimi stated she was not wanting to fight my horrible dog again so she "broke rules" to give the injection SQ in the room with me holding, which mind you I barely held my dog for any restraint with no issue and this medication stings especially when given SQ. Then the doctors notes states the cerenia was given IV which I had to clarify with my primary vet that it was SQ cause that changes their treatment plan when my dog ended up needing surgery with them. Then last year, I brought my other dog because he was having a reaction to his sutures and they did not catch this on the bloodwork or physical exam. Which he then had to go for emergency surgery the next day with my primary vet. Long story short, I will not be bringing my animals here anymore and I recommend other clients to find another place to go. The staff does not care for the animals, will most likely misdiagnose and waste your money when you have to go to your primary vet anyways. If this is looking to be resolved by the Animal Emergency Center of Killeen, please reach out to me instead of commenting for me to call.
Experiencia positiva: It was nice that they were available when I needed them. They were competent, clean, and my cat got good care. The only thing that irked me was that they close at 8 am and told me this but when I picked my cat up at 0726 they charged me a $91 late pick up fee. I was not told that this would happen if I wasn’t there at 0715. I was just told to pick him up at 0715 but that they would be there until 8. I feel they should have made it abundantly clear if the penalty was going to be that hefty. The only other thing I can say is that they were not very warm and caring. They were competent though.
Experiencia fantástica: Gabriel and Dr Teel are truly amazing. Very thorough kind during a stressful day. My dog is up and feeling better. All of the staff here were very patient and understanding. I would give more stars if I could.
Experiencia negativa: I honestly wish I could give this a lower rating. DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE!! Save yourself the time , money and stress please. My 2 year old cat who has never had problems came home limping pretty bad in his front paw and his back paw, he was acting weird and wouldn’t eat. Mind you, I just turned 18 and have been supporting my cat since I was 16, so ofc I don’t have all the money in the world. I get scared because he’s never been injured like this before— My aunt decided to take us here and I must say it was the worst experience ever for me and my little guy. Pay first and treatment after… My cat could’ve been internally bleeding , and they wouldn’t have took him unless we paid $140 We had to scrap our money together to pay to even be seen and it seemed like they didn’t even believe us or care . Everyone’s soul there was very ugly as well, no compassion almost, you could tell they were money hungry. I had to sign paperwork with statements like it would be $0 to let my cat die on the table or pay $600 to hopefully bring him back to life, like what? He gets seen and it seemed kinda unprofessional in my opinion, like they just saw my cat as another object to work on; As well as there was no communication between the nurse guy and the actual doctor. The nurse dude had no idea what was going on. After they say there is basically nothing wrong with him and we would have to do all these things to know for sure and we’d have to pay before any of it could be done, all adding up to $1000 or so , we only had $200 on us, and they have NO payment plans, only something called care credit which you have to apply for and it’s not even a guarantee. We also asked them to look at this little cut on his arm which had dry blood. They tell us they will do it , they start doing it and then say if they continue to shave the little spot on his arm it’s gonna be another $150. To shave a small spot really? I told them we’d just look at it ourselves which we did and there was another cat’s nail inn bedded in his skin. Then they wanted to charge another $90 just to give him some water and a $50 for meds. I had to choose between letting my cat suffer or going broke making sure he was okay. I ended up denying most of the absurd pricing , like X-ray, the water and shaving the small spot, which they seemed annoyed I didn’t wanna pay. We used the last of our money for the pain meds. We left with no answers, a greedy whole in our wallets and my cat is still limping. I don’t understand how people can go into that field and already get paid so much and be so greedy for more. I started considering going into the field myself and making an actual caring and affordable if not FREE animal care place of my own because of this experience. Do not bring your babies here, thankfully my aunt checked him over when we got back with her medical experience and he has a sprained front paw and back paw. Funny how a woman who studied on humans and a vet at war knew more about a cat’s injuries than the damn veterinarian themselves! Shameful.
Experiencia fantástica: We brought our cat Smoky in for an emergency urinary issue, and the team was quick, thorough, and genuinely caring. They explained everything clearly, treated him with compassion, and helped him make a full recovery. We’re very grateful for the excellent care and would absolutely recommend them.
Experiencia fantástica: The staff and vet took care of my cat quickly and in the seriousness it deserved. They communicated clearly and the prices were very realistic for an emergency care facility. The front desk was kind, efficient, and compassionate. Very glad I brought my fur baby to them for his emergency!
Experiencia fantástica: We had to bring our 15-year-old Labrador to this ER clinic on Sunday, and overall I am incredibly grateful for the care he received. From the moment we arrived, the staff and veterinarian were calm, kind, and collected during what was a very emotional and stressful situation for our family. Everyone treated our old man with dignity and treated us with compassion, which matters more than I can put into words during an emergency. I do want to share two points, not as complaints, but as education for other pet owners. Our final total did come in a few hundred dollars higher than the high end of the estimate, and euthanasia was discussed very early on. I completely understand why it was presented that way: based on what the veterinarian was seeing initially, euthanasia absolutely looked like a reasonable and humane option. Vets can only work with what is in front of them in that moment. That said, we know our dog. We know how strong he is, and we were fortunate enough to be in a position to pursue diagnostics and try a last-ditch effort procedure with the clear understanding that it might only buy him a very short amount of time. The veterinarian listened to our concerns, respected them, took the time to talk through realistic expectations, and was dedicated enough to try - for this, we are so thankful!!! Four days later, our 15-year-old lab is doing amazing! He is completely back to himself. We are taking precautions and fully understand that things could change at any time, but we are incredibly thankful for the extra time and quality of life we were given. My takeaway for other pet owners reading this: be clear and honest about your budget, ask questions, and advocate for your animal if you feel there may be options you want to explore. Emergency medicine is hard, fast, and emotionally heavy, and good communication goes both ways. I also want to say this as someone who has worked in veterinary medicine: if you ever read reviews or have an experience where staff seem emotionally guarded, please understand that they do care. They see the worst of the worst every single day. Veterinary mental health is at an all-time low, and it is impossible to completely leave that weight at work. Thank you to the veterinarian and the entire support staff for your professionalism, dedication, and kindness. We are truly grateful for the care you gave our dog and for giving us more time with him.
Experiencia positiva: they took great care of my baby, but their prices are super high, if you are low on expenses but need the care its gonna be a bit tough
Experiencia negativa: $140 for a consultation and then around $800 for bloodwork on a cat that was passing away from garlic poisoning. Very expensive, they prey on your emotional state and charge you 4 times the cost of a regular appointment. They are allowed to set their own prices
Experiencia negativa: Not my personal experience here but from word they did not help an injured animal because the person didn’t have their card them at that time so the animal died few days later due to their money first mentality even if it’s a dying animal in front of them. Shame on this business.
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you for taking such excellent care of Ruby. I highly appreciate such an amazing team. We are truely thankful for your service you provide to our community. ❤️ Professional, clean, caring and very reasonable. I highly recommend this clinic.
Experiencia negativa: Worst place to take any animal.. They are all about the money and WILL let your pet die if don't have their kind of thousands of dollars and show 0 support to want to help!! Don't recommend here at all and will show all proof they are TERRIBLE!!!!
Experiencia negativa: waited 2 hours to get a room after i paid the 165$ the doctor told me to go to the temple emergency, poor customer service there
Experiencia fantástica: They were professional and understanding and got us in very quickly. It was also almost Christmas! Thank you for your compassion and making us feel like a priority.
Experiencia negativa: Much like all other places around here this is a CASH GRAB FIRST, SERVICE MIGHT COME SECOND! What I mean by that is I brought my 10 month old Golden Retriever in after he was struck by a vehicle. He had escaped the back yard with my other dog that was also hit but unfortunately did not make it. Nonetheless my young pup was in pain and needed immediate attention so I did what any pet owner would….. I sought out for that medical attention. Brought me to this place where I can wholeheartedly say the amount of copy and paste robotic bs they put you through is uncalled for. I sat for hours with not explanation just a dog that shocked and in pain. The Vet tech comes in the room after us waiting about an hour just to take his temp and that’s it! No physical exam not questions other than that. Even if they did ask they didn’t seem to concerned about anything that was going on. Mind you I’m distraught because I just lost my other dog. With that being said we say their and say their and sat their with little to no communication you already had to pay 140 just to get into an exam room. Like I said money first treatment second. After sitting for hours the vet tech comes in the room just to tell I would have to pay this amount before this can get done. I said okay signed and thought none of it. Then they came back told me what they did this and that and gave him meds and a shot along with xrays. The bill skyrocketed to a price that I couldn’t afford upfront. They don’t do payment plans and they truly didn’t care about my pup. It’s the money they care about. The money. And watch this bs stuff they say after this to try and cover they unprofessional money hungry behinds. Watch they will reply to this. we’re sorry blah blah blah. My dog is still in pain and calling them back to tell them symptoms seemed to get worse and the first thing they tell me is they will have to charge me a reassessment fee if they see him again. Sad
Experiencia fantástica: Very professional and caring staff! My wife and I are extremely happy with the treatment and care that was provided for our pet Mr. Cody.
Experiencia fantástica: Our dog had a losing encounter with a porcupine late Saturday night. The clinic was open and the staff was very responsive. Our dog was out within an hour, happy to be rid of hundreds of quills in and around his mouth. Thank you!
Experiencia fantástica: Our dog got into a porcupine and Dr. Couture took amazing care of him. Highly recommend this place.
Experiencia fantástica: Staff was very professional and knowledgeable regarding my pet emergency. I was very thankful of them being available 24, especially during the holidays.
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing providers and staff, they took real great care of my fur baby!!! Athena is thankful to y'all!!
Experiencia fantástica: Outstanding Emergency Care and Compassionate Staff We have only lived in Killeen for about four years, but during that time we have had to rely on the Animal Emergency Center of Killeen three separate times—for three different cats. Each visit confirmed just how exceptional this clinic truly is. Our first cat, Bear, had serious respiratory issues. The staff immediately placed him on oxygen while we waited for the veterinarian. He was examined, given an injection, and sent home with medication. Thanks to their quick action and care, Bear recovered rapidly within just a couple of days. Our other two cats, Rum and Lykos, are brothers of Bear and unfortunately have a hereditary gum disease that causes severe dental problems. Rum was treated with an antibiotic injection and sent home with medication for an active infection. A pet dentist was recommended, and Rum recovered quickly and is doing great now. Lykos had a more urgent dental emergency. One of his upper fangs was already loose, but it shifted inward and prevented him from closing his mouth at all. We rushed him to AEC of Killeen, and thankfully the veterinarian on duty had dental tools with him. Under light anesthesia, the vet removed at least three problematic teeth, carefully explained the condition of the remaining teeth, and again recommended a pet dentist. We were sent home with gabapentin for pain management. Lykos recovered extremely well and is now eating and being his normal self without any problems (even if he did manage to outsmart me on his last dose of medication). What truly stands out—beyond their medical skill—is the compassion of the staff. During all three of our visits, there were pet owners who had just lost their beloved animals, and the staff treated them with genuine empathy and kindness. On top of that, the pricing was very reasonable for an emergency veterinary clinic. If it weren’t for AEC of Killeen, I honestly don’t know what I would have done—or whether I could have afforded the care my cats needed. As long as they remain in business, they will have my complete trust and all of my emergency veterinary business. I cannot recommend the Animal Emergency Center of Killeen highly enough.
Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been here before for emergencies and this place is consistently professional, empathetic, and sweet. This isn’t my regular vet, but I recommend them to those in search of one!! Thank you all for your care.
Experiencia fantástica: We’d gotten home from an out of state trip at 4 pm and let our girl outside and by 5 pm we were at the Animal Emergency Center of Killeen. We were home by 7:30 or so. She’d apparently been running and hit a tree stump along the fence and ended up with a pretty gnarly laceration along her chest and underarm. The staff was lovely and the techs that interacted with her were patient and caring (so much so that Sunny would whine because she wanted to follow them back to the treatment area!) The vet and care team did an amazing job stitching her up, and they were able to send us home with antibiotic and pain prescriptions for her so we didn’t have to go through the trouble of going to another pharmacy to get them filled. They even let us know we’d have enough time to go grab a bite to eat while she was being patched up. It’s been two days, and she’s right back to cuddling on the couch and staring us down for bites from our dinner. We had a great experience and if we ever need any other emergency vet services, the Animal Emergency Center of Killeen will be our first choice!
Experiencia fantástica: We were well taken care of and told about what was happening every step of the way. Our sweet puppy is healing and getting better.
Experiencia fantástica: The emergency center was great. For one, the are open 24/7! And two, they are really really nice people. I was highly impressed. It wasn't my dog that had to go there (thank god) but I had given some friends of mine a ride to take there sick chihuahua in. I'm very thankful to say Phat Phat is doing great. There was a couple of days that were still ruff but he made it okay. People, especially now during the holidays, be aware of what you, friends or family members feed your dog or cat this holiday. Yes, they love our food but people food can make them very very sick. Not only is it for the well being of your pet, it's also a money savor cause even though the cost wasn't too bad it's still money not going to Christmas presents! Lol Our beloved pets are worth it though. They are family members too! Stay warm, be happy and hugs and howls to everyone. Have a blessed Christmas!
Experiencia fantástica: I was very happy with all the help . He dog was still sick .I had to take him to his vet and he was so sick I had to put him down .
Experiencia fantástica: My senior male cat was experiencing what I thought was a blockage and couldn’t urinate. So I went to The Animal Emergency Center of Killeen and I am so glad I did! They were so kind and full of compassion the moment we walked in. Turns out he didn’t have a blockage after some testing and getting medication, I was able to bring him home to manage what was going on. The whole experience made me wish that I could go to them as our regular Veterinarian. The price was also very reasonable. If we ever need an Emergency Veterinarian again we will definitely go back.
Experiencia negativa: I would rather drive the distance and find another hospital than visit this one again. It was an awful first experience there. My dog was shaking, acting very off, wouldn’t eat/drink/bark, and I went there thinking I would at least get some help to get him calm and rested and ultimately find answers. We paid $140 just to walk through the door, three people asked me the same questions over and over, and we left in the same situation as we came in. No answers, no relief, no real suggestions. I can appreciate that it costs more to be seen at an ER, but I really felt like we paid $140 for me to tell them symptoms 3X and for them to just nod. Pet Hospitals are of course going to be more expensive, that’s a given, but at least other hospitals usually try to do a better job providing care for the price they charge. It wasn’t until the next day that I took him to the non ER veterinarian that we got some pain medications and made some headway into figuring it out. Our vet was thorough in terms of explaining why he could have these symptoms, offering suggested things we should try and WHY we should try them (labs, X-rays, etc.). The Animal Medical Center just wanted me to shell out $1,000 without explanation of why we should be doing any of those tests and X-rays. The bedside manner of the people working there was also very off, almost like they did not care if I came in to say goodbye to my dog or if I actually got him some help and relief. The worst part was I had my daughter with me and when we left she said “they didn’t care about Chance at all.” I had to explain that they see a lot of animals so they were probably just tired that day. If your pet can wait a little longer, go to your normal vet, if they can’t, please save yourself the headache and money and drive a shorter distance to any other hospital. ETA: since the ER responded I just want to add that yes the staff offered to do diagnostic tests as I mentioned (x-rays, etc) but they just wanted to try everything all at once, refused to explain WHY they wanted to try certain things and not others, and again didn’t even start with anything knowledgeable and try one thing at a time to start ruling out issues. My bigger issue wasbt that I had to do the tests- the normal non-ER vet did that anyway and I was fine with it. It was the manner in which you were troubleshooting - using no logic in your explanation, wanting to do everything all at once without trying one thing at a time to start ruling things out, and the crappy bedside manner.
Experiencia fantástica: I entered the door with my ❤️ pounding!! I left hopeful, educated, encouraged and happy. From the time we entered until the time we left, my family (the staff) was supporting me. Thank you.
Experiencia negativa: While being grateful that our dog was examined, patrons need to know that prices are EXTREMELY high (our estimate came to over $900 between xrays and several tests that were recommended. We ended up opting for x-rays only. And the Bill still came to $500. When we got the first estimate, we were told that they would not even take our dog into the examination room unless we signed a document agreeing that we would pay the quoted price. After informing them that we could not afford to pay $900 it was at that point that we were told that we could turn down some of the procedures that were being suggested and pay a lower price for the x-rays only. Honestly, we should have been given the low end estimate for x-rays only at the beginning. I am sure that several unknowing clients simply reach for a credit card out of concern for their beloved pets. Once again, I don’t believe that they do this To be cold or cruel. But the bottom line is that they have you over a barrel.
Experiencia fantástica: Took my companion King Beauregard for an ear infection. The staff took really good care of him. The doctor and the staff are very professional and also cared about him. The Vet Tech Lexy (hope I spelled it right) called me today to check on King Beauregard's progress. I recommend this Emergency Vet.
Experiencia negativa: I brought my small dog to this facility after she fell and hurt her leg. After a six hour wait they did x-rays and told me there were no fractures or dislocations. They gave her a shot for pain/inflammation and sent me home with meds for pain/inflammation. On follow up at our regular vet just looking at the x-rays on my phone, she could tell something was not right. I sent them the X-rays (the same ones taken at Animal Emergency Center of Killeen) and they were able to identify and show me three fractures in her foot as well as damage in her elbow and shoulder. I am very frustrated that so little care was taken with my pet at this clinic.
Experiencia fantástica: Friendly staff and handled my Sophie, Shih, Tzu, with love and care. Very efficient as well.
Experiencia fantástica: Extremely friendly and compassionate. Was there in a Sunday morning and it was super busy. Even though it was frustrating to wait and spend 3 hours there, when it was our turn to be seen the staff was very nice.
Experiencia fantástica: The service was great. Extremely expensive. The vet team was AWESOME and extremely professional
Experiencia negativa: $1000 for my 14 year old cat. I understand it's a emergency place ir whatever, but come on, you make money on pet parents. They know, you won't like to see them suffer, so they charge accordingly. Don't understand if you pay $250 for an oxygen tank, why then get charged for the hospitalization? Can't get the oxygen tank with out a 2 hour stay and vise versa. If I pay $1000 why do I then get the meds charged extra? Should that not be included? Btw, if you get your animal to your normal.vet they can almost do anything that clinic can, and I buy the mrdc online or in a pets store, much cheaper. Way over priced. The young lady I spoke too was very nice, the young blonde Doctor, gosh what can I say... Arrogant, and she acted like we don't care about our cat because we took her home and did not leave her there. That would be easy $5000 the way they charge. My cat was fine as soon as she was home with Mom, not by herself in a strange room and it did not cost me a penny more. All in all not impressed and hope I never got to go there again. Had my dog there, same thing..JUST NO
Experiencia fantástica: I want to thank all of the staff at animal emergency center..I brought my fur baby in because I knew something was going on...and to my worst fear....she.needed.emergency surgery or she would of passed...of course I was so heartbroken, as soon as the DR told me..with out hesitation I said do it....it was costly but...I could of not just let her die, the team did grest, she had to stay the night they took such good care of her,,her first time away from me she cried all nigjt...but the gentlemen on night shift took good care of her. They were so compassionate caring, loving, and didn't even get frustrated when I called about a thousand times to check on her,and even called a few times to see how she is doing.Words can.not express what you all do and did for my baby.Thank you all so so much. You all are truly appreciated..thank you again
Experiencia negativa: I recently had a distressing experience at the animal hospital. My 11-year-old English Cocker Spaniel had been experiencing seizures throughout the day, and I made the difficult decision to have her euthanized. I expressed my reservations and emotional distress to the staff, and my child and I were visibly upset. Initially, we wanted to be present during the procedure, but after hearing the cries of another animal, we decided to wait in the parking lot. Upon returning, the staff presented my dog to us wrapped in a blanket, but the manner in which she was positioned was profoundly disturbing. Her tongue was protruding, and her eyes were wide open, creating a lasting and traumatic image for my child and me. I felt that the staff demonstrated a lack of compassion and sensitivity, treating the situation as routine rather than acknowledging our emotional pain. In contrast, funeral homes typically show more respect and care in preparing the deceased for viewing. I regret allowing my child to witness this and question the advice we received. I am now hesitant to return to the hospital to collect my dog's ashes. The WORST experience EVER. Took my 11 year old English Cocker Spaniel there; she had been having seizures all day. I understood and agreed to put her down. I expressed that i feel like im pulling the plug on a family member and unsure if I’m making the right decision; my child & I were very distraught crying more than anything. Initially my child and I wanted to be there when they put her down but over hearing the cries from another dog being put down we opted not to be there when they put her down but to see her after. We went to the parking lot while they put her down & they called us back in when the where done. Initially they brought her to the room wrapped in a blanket and put her on the table. Then the lady turned my dog to face us where we were met to remember her DEAD WITH HER TONGUE STICKING OUT AND EYES WIDE OPEN LOOKING AT US. I would have rather let her pass away at home then to be left with that image of my dog. There was NO COMPASSION at all. There were no acknowledgement or apologies given; to them it was BUSINESS AS USUAL; NO CONSIDERATION for my child and the image that is stuck with her. At the funeral home they at least close your loved one’s eyes and mouth. I feel extra horrible that I unknowingly allowed my daughter to experience that. I would give & pay anything to take that final image/memory of my loved CHOCOLATE that way away. Bad enough we had to put her down but to put her on the table and turn her to face us like that; my child has said all day every time she closes her eyes that’s what she sees. I definitely now question if I even made the right decision & if their advice was good or was it just doing business for the money bc they definitely didn’t give me or my child any other feelings. I’m suppose to go back in a week to pick up my dogs ashes; I don’t even want to see those people to get her.
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing staff, super clean facility, the girls up front were very welcoming, attentive, truly cared about the animals and the owners… they were packed full and maintained great attitudes while continuously updating the people waiting in the lobby… Lexi at the front desk is what we should see everyday in any customer service!!! So refreshing and heartwarming to see that their are still people in the public work environments that care about everyone and the quality of service A+++++, and the girl working with her just as on top of her job and great interaction as well but did not get her name
Experiencia fantástica: The staff was very professional during our worrisome visit. They tended to our dog in a very quick manner and provided sound guidance. It was a very positive experience. Thank you
Experiencia fantástica: Got us right in and took care of my cat. They kept us informed and called to check on him the next day. He is doing much better now.
Experiencia fantástica: Very impressed! Care was quick and thorough. None of us want to have to seek emergency care but if you need to I highly recommend.
Experiencia fantástica: Everyone there was so beyond sweet and took amazing care of my sweet baby violet. They let me know the price of everything beforehand so there was no surprises. It was much cheaper than I initially expected being an emergency visit as well. Hopefully I wont have to go back but I know if I do they will take amazing care of my babies
Experiencia fantástica: It was my first time needing to seek medical attention for my newborn kittens. The staff here were amazing kind and really thoughtful and professional. I will most definitely keep coming here.
Experiencia fantástica: My Leo boy was well taken care of by this place. From the lady at the front counter, and the others that assisted the vet. You all were so loving and caring with my Leo boy. Thank you!!
Experiencia fantástica: They are very professional and took a lot of interest in Morty’s injury. Listened to our information on Morty’s injury Provider excellent care and did a follow up, which was a surprise and very professional. Thank you for your care, concern and your professionalism in the veterinary medicine field.-George Wankmueller
Experiencia fantástica: Really empathetic and efficient front desk. My pets were in care within 10 min of arrival. Both had been bitten by venomous snake-likely a rattler. The we’re receiving antivenom within 30 min. Appreciate the good explanations and helpful, timely care.
Experiencia negativa: I’ve gone twice to them before. Both times they misdiagnosed my dogs. We took our female into them because she was in labour but they said she was having a “phantom pregnancy” As soon as we got home a hour later she gave birth to our third puppy. The other time we brought in our oldest dog because he lost mobility in his back legs and could not walk. They said the reason for that was because he had some sort of stomach bug. They did X-rays as well for the hips. It turned out both of his hind legs have acl tears. I was going to bring in my other dog today because he needs to be seen but remembered the misdiagnosis and don’t want to spend 500-700 if I’m going to have to take my dog to his regular vet and I’ve said I was going to comment about it but never did. So here is my post
Experiencia fantástica: I've owned animals all my life. Been to many an Animal ER. But this has got to be the best we've ever been too. From the front to the back the staff was off the charts amazing! Friendly, helpful, compassionate. I will definitely be recommending them to everyone i know. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts Michelle, Pat & Tucker Cahill
Experiencia fantástica: Yall were amazing and very much appreciated helping Tucker in his time of need. His happy tail wag is back Great staff.
Experiencia fantástica: It was a long wait due to an emergency before us but the Dr was very nice and helpful. 10/18/25
Experiencia fantástica: Our vet was off the day we took our French bulldog to the animal emergency center of Killeen. I will say that from the moment we walked in we were greeted by the lobby representative and she was very professional and treated us and our pet in a very caring manner since our dog was in distress. The Veterinarian was very informative and took her time to discuss what would be needed to provide our fur baby with the medication she needed to get her feeling better as soon as possible. The Veterinarian also emailed her clinical notes and X-rays to both my vet and myself. Our fur baby was treated with care and respect, which we saw with our own eyes, which meant a lot to us because there are clinics that treat pets like they are just numbers and something that we will never allow to occur or tolerate. Overall we would recommend them to those that are in need of an emergency pet clinic in the Killeen area. They also honor military and Veterans with a military discount which really helped reduce our bill. Overall we are thankful the veterinarian could help our baby until we could take her to our vet the following day.
Experiencia negativa: I had to take my dog here after a rattlesnake bite and when I checked in they took her in fast and easy, they were very patient as I try to make a decision but while in the waiting room, me and my boyfriend heard them speaking poorly of us behind closed doors. I at one point heard a dog knock over a water bowl, and a staff yelled at it saying that it wouldn't get any more water after that. They were at least aware that antivenom was expensive, and I appreciate that. But with the way the check out phase was made me feel genuinely disgusted with their practice saying that they couldn't start anything without payment, which yes, they shouldn't start anything without payment. But if my dog with a RATTLESNAKE bite is in your care, you could do literally anything at all to help, and if I dont pay you, genuinely, sue me. It's very very clear to me that these people just want to pray off of the connections of owner and dog and have you pay your whole life savings for a simple procedure. But I do appreciate how the night after, they called and checked on my pup.
Experiencia fantástica: They took good care of my fur baby when he was attacked and are open when other clinics arent.
Experiencia negativa: SUPER EXPENSIVE! Not worth to go here. Save yourselves the trouble and visit another vet emergency room. They took 40 mins to attend me and my dog who was in pain. Not only did they not help with my issue but they still charged me a handsomely good cost $140 just to be seen. Ridiculous. Do not go here
Experiencia fantástica: Very efficient and took good car of my dog. He is already feeling better after the visit.
Experiencia fantástica: Our dog ingested some plastic and had to be taken to the emergency clinic. What a wonderful team! They were kind and very caring. Dr. Dempsey and the amazing vet tech treated our dog and he is back to himself today. Very grateful that they are there when you need them.
Experiencia fantástica: They have taken excellent care of all our pups through the years. We knew Chuy was in great hands this trip. Service was fast. Techs and docs are always friendly, capable, and explain everything to us! I’m sure we’ll be back!
Experiencia positiva: They did a fantastic job on helping my senior pittie girl. She had another run-in with a porcupine. They were wonderful. They even called the next day to check on how she was doing which I am very appreciative. My only issue is personal, because of the price. I completely understand it's after hours, I'm just not full of money but at the same time, can't let my fur babies suffer.
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you for taking care of my best friend. I truly appreciate it.!! I was very emotional when I first came in and did not treat me in the best way so we don’t remember your name but if you see this, I do apologize!!
Experiencia fantástica: Hands down best emergency vet! I went in on a Sunday because my cat decided to hurt her back paws. Everyone there was super friendly and nice! Will definitely be back if there is ever another injury . Wasn’t expensive at all, very reasonable pricing for an emergency.
Experiencia fantástica: Wasn't overly expensive (for emergency visit) as I thought it would be. I appreciate that the vet answered all my questions. I do feel like the people in the back need to be a bit more friendly, though. But I can definitely understand why they aren't happy go lucky. I also appreciated that they called me to check in on my pet after a few days in case I had any questions or concerns.
Experiencia positiva: I am very grateful they saved our 8 week old puppy but felt like they forgot about us, a technician came in and said we were good to but we hadn't seen the doctor yet! The front desk staff was amazing. When we finally got to see the doctor, he says, what do you want to know! How about this is what we did, and you should do this at home. We had to ask him what they did and what should we should do.
Experiencia fantástica: Had a dog get attacked by something, we think a large bird, and caused 5 wounds to appear. We were triaged and assessed, then taken care of in turn. The staff and doctors did an amazing job of discussing findings and developing a plan for care. Great place to go.
Experiencia fantástica: My dog was attacked by a rooster and had a huge hole in his neck. They kept us informed the whole time we were there, got him into surgery right away and he was back home with meds to keep him comfortable. We loved the vet we saw Dr Best!
Experiencia fantástica: Was very helpful in n a troubled time was friendly healing looks to be right.
Experiencia negativa: This place was horrible. My dog was attacked and left bleeding out. I took him here and they took my initial 140. I made the mistake of letting the receptionist know that I did not have anymore money.⁰
Experiencia fantástica: After taking care of my dog they followed up with me th next day to see how he was doing and they told me tht they wld send his vet th documentation and they did just tht. they were sensitive to his pain which met alot.
Experiencia fantástica: I would like to thank the staff and vet on call. We had to take our little dog here after hours, he wasn’t feeling very well. They were caring and helpful, it was costly-$$$$ as usual when emergencies happen but we knew this. If you have an emergency and need after hour care I would truly recommend this location, I would also suggest putting a little cash away for this type of emergency situation. Great place to go when your normal vet office is closed for emergencies.
Experiencia fantástica: I had a very positive experience when I brought my Miniature Schnauzer in recently. The check-in went smoothly and we were attended to right away. The vet tech was very friendly and offered really good information. Dr. Dempsey was very caring and very professional. I appreciated all staff members that were helpful that evening.
Experiencia negativa: Understand this is an emergency service but charging double is wild! Quoted $1000 for stitching up my dog’s leg is wild. How are people expected to take care of their pets? Got him into his vet the next morning and quoted $500 and that included putting him under General anesthesia. I understand paying more but double is so disappointing. Annoyed I had to pay $140 to see a vet for 60 seconds. Do better.
Experiencia fantástica: I have taken my dog to Animal Emergency Center of Killeen 3 times now and they have always been amazing with me and my dog. They will also call you the next day to see how your pet is doing since our visit. They are pricey but worth getting the care my pet needs when our primary vet is closed.
Experiencia fantástica: Had to go in for an emergency visit with my dog. The service was great Mimi the vet tech was amazing at putting me at ease. Overall the entire staff from receptionist to vet doctor were amazing and my dog diagnosis was accurate as well as medication. Would recommend
Experiencia negativa: Unfortunately, I was deeply disappointed by the level of care provided to my cat during her visit. I brought her in because she was experiencing frequent vomiting. What was most troubling, was the apparent lack of urgency or concern from the staff. She stayed an unnecessarily amount of time in the back area & it took even longer time to be seen; even though we were the only visitors there. When my cat was taken, the noise emanating from the area from my cat were quite unsettling; followed by audible laughter from the staff (only staff who actually showed an ounce of care or compassion was the host in front, a very nice lady). Ive been to many veterinarian centers before and I have heard unpleasant sounds coming from the area where they operate but definitely not like that. I initially considered addressing the situation by entering the area directly, but remained respectful and knocked on the door instead. After literally five minutes, my cat was returned to me. She looked very, very scared. I know my cat, and I definitely know when something is amiss. I was extremely upset but I remained calm, knowing that I would never be returning. I love my cat and I didn’t want to cause a scene, with my husband also beside me. But, I knew for certain I would never be returning here. As a pet owner who values the well-being of my animals, I would strongly advise reconsidering this facility if you are seeking a place that truly demonstrates compassion and professionalism. My rating ain’t long for nothing! Trust me if you love your pets, please stay away from this place. I would hate for anyone to have the same experience I did. The staff needs to do better. For most people, pets aren’t just pets, they’re apart of someone’s family. We’re already worried and concerned about bringing our pets to be seen in the first place, they should be relieving the pet owners stress NOT ADDING TO IT !
Experiencia fantástica: I wanted to write this review a while ago but it took some time... we sadly lost our best friend, Rosie, after brining her in for care. We knew something was off with our pup so we brought her to this clinic. Even though our dog didn't make it, we really appreciate the kindness and the efforts from the whole team. Dr. Jones took every step possible to try to treat and save our girl, and we ultimately let her go so she wouldn't live in anymore pain. Dr. Jones was super kind about this and allowed us to visit with her one last time. All of the staff members were so comforting and patient with us. We recieved our pups ashes and a paw print as well as a very sweet card and candle from the staff members. It's not easy losing the best pup ever, but I am at least appreciative that we lost our pup at this clinic surrounded by kindness and empathy. Thank you again team for the care you provided for us. We appreciate it more than words can say.
Experiencia fantástica: Sadly we had to make the trip to them to have our grumpy ol' man pup put down who was suffering from bad seizures. From the first phone call to the visit at their office they were nothing but compassionate and friendly and took great care of our dog and us. We appreciate everything you have done.
Experiencia negativa: Had a wonderful experience with them when my cat had a UTI. Had a significantly less pleasant time tonight when we brought our older male cat to be euthanized because he was losing his battle with leukemia and we wanted to offer him some grace and dignity. Our cat was screaming in pain and the supervisor Deborah thought she needed to come in and question what had been going on like we were hurting our cat despite us having checked in with the receptionist for euthanasia. We were told that his screaming was disrupting a dog in the other room that was actually dying. When we pushed back on how rude she was being she insisted that she wasn't being rude. Our cat died screaming in our arms when he could've been sent off peacefully. We didn't mind the wait once it had been explained but to be treated like we were hurting our cat or intentionally trying to cause issues during his last moments was unacceptable. Even as we were leaving with his corpse she was more concerned with telling us that she hadn't been rude and that she "had no boss" and was the highest supervisor instead of being concerned about our dead cat or him having suffered in his final moments because she wanted to argue and discuss who was "actually" dying. she couldn't have cared less for our poor cat. I hope Deborah is never made to feel as tiny or insignificant in her moment of grief and no one treats a creature she loves with such disregard and blatant nonchalance bordering on malice for her customer service position. edit: Extremely interesting and telling that I'm the only 1 star review that got care here that wasn't asked to call and get in touch with them directly and no attempt was made to investigate the issue by getting in touch with us. Leads me to believe there was nothing done with Deborah and their reply was meant to be a bandaid to those looking at reviews.
Experiencia negativa: I recently brought my pet to this ER vet and had a very upsetting experience. My pet was already scared and stressed, and the way they were handled during the visit left them with visible marks and even more anxiety. When going to an emergency clinic, you expect compassionate, gentle, and professional care, especially when your pet is vulnerable. Unfortunately, that was not what we received. This experience has completely destroyed my trust in this facility, and I would not recommend it to other pet owners who want their animals to be treated with the care and respect they deserve.
Experiencia fantástica: This animal emergency center of Killeen is amazing.I had got off of work today came home and my baby didn't great me like she always does.So.i.gave her a look over, to see if I can see if like her nails got caught on something,or she had to vomit..but when I went to go touch her undercarriage, she had a huge swollen lump..I was so scared,I was a.reck.I.called this place and they told me to come on in.When I got there they were so professional, Loving, caring....I mean I had makeup running down my face. They were so compassionate....they understand how I was feeling and assured me that my baby was going to be fine. They took such good care of her,I am truly grateful for this place..and they are reasonable as well..they don't break the bank....thanks to the staff and Doctor,my baby is resting peacefully not in pain.I recommend this place highly.!!!!!
