Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Service: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: Doctor was very honest and didn't attempt to push medication or surgery that wasn't necessary. Spoke to us saying "if you were my family, this is what I would tell you to do."
Thank you so much for the 5 star review!
Experiencia fantástica: Our 2 yr. old Shih Tzu was hospitalized for 2 weeks for seizures. They were AMAZING. They communicated with me daily on her progress, responded to all of my questions in a timely manner, and loved on her while she was there. After her discharge they were still available to answer questions on her recovery at home, even weeks afterwards. They made a really scary and horrible situation so much better because of their care. Dr. Jeff Smith was terrific as were all the staff, receptionists and vet techs. HIGHLY recommend.
Thank you so much for the 5 star review! We will make sure Dr. Smith sees your shout out! We hope Cocoa does well with her treatment plan and will look forward to seeing her for her neurology service evaluation in a few weeks! Of course, give us a call if you need anything!
Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely the best care for your babies. We wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Thank you so much for the 5 star review!
Experiencia fantástica: Our experience was great. Front office to the vet were kind and honest with us. They were extremely thoughtful in our conversation. Coming to an animal hospital can be a very difficult time but our experience was 5 ⭐.
Thank you so much for posting a 5 star review for MVSES! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with our team!
Experiencia fantástica: I am very happy with the care that they gave our baby girl luna. I would definitely return here if I needed to they were a amazing staff. Dr Wagoner was amazing.
Thank you so much for leaving MVSES and Dr. Wagoner a 5 star review! We really appreciate it!
Experiencia fantástica: No one wants to have to take their fur baby to an emergency vet on a Saturday Night but that staff at Metro were all GREAT, friendly, informative and super sweet to my baby girl making a very difficult time a little easier. Dr Wagner Is AWESOME, she did a middle of the night closed reduction, splint and bandages/cast and explained everything perfectly, along the vway giving me all my options in detail I could understand. Thank you all so much, made it easy to trust my baby in your hands.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience at MVSES and with Dr. Wagoner's care for MJ! We really appreciate your kind words! We hope MJ is feeling more comfortable!
Experiencia fantástica: Our dog, Lilly, had TPLO surgery on Thursday for a meniscus tear and full ACL tear. Dr. Restle was her surgeon and he was amazing. At our consultation he sat down and explained the entire procedure to us and told us what to expect and do in the coming weeks. He was very kind, down to earth and patient. I immediately felt at ease knowing he would be performing the surgery. The day of her surgery, he called me before the surgery began and again afterwards. I felt confident knowing she was in such capable hands. We picked her up late afternoon and an awesome nurse named Kayla handled our baby’s discharge and gave us thorough instructions for home. She even helped us to the car. Our girl is doing well and Dr. Restle expects a full recovery. We could not be more pleased. If your pet is in need of orthopedic surgery or you’re looking for a consult or second opinion, I highly recommend Metropolitan and especially Dr. Restle. Thank you Dr. Restle and Kayla for the remarkable care you gave Lilly. We are forever grateful.
Thank you so much for the 5 star review! We love hearing that Dr. Restle and Kayla were so supportive and helpful from beginning to end of Lilly's care at MVSES! We will make sure they see your kind words!
Experiencia fantástica: Tesla was wonderful to a worried dog Mommy. She didn’t say a word when I cried tears of worry. I was blessed to receive good news today, but I can see the compassion she and the doctors possess for when news is not so great.
Thank you so much for leaving a 5 star review! We are very pleased that everything looked good with Fiona! We will make sure Tesla sees that you left her a kind note as well! Thanks again!
Experiencia fantástica: I knew my baby girls life was unfortunately coming to an end. I had already planned an at home euthanasia for her this Friday but she declined so fast over night and I couldn't bare seeing her so scared and uncomfortable so I brought her here to lay my girl to rest. I probably should've called before hand but everything was happening so fast and I was fighting back tears, i could barely think straight. When I got here and explained what was going on, they immediately helped get my girl out of the car and got her into a room where she got an iv and pain meds. They let us spend as much time as needed with her before and after she was gone. Dr Wagoner put her to sleep for the last time and she slipped away peacefully in my hands. The vet tech/assistant was also so sweet and caring to my girl, I wish I got her name. She was amazing with my baby girl. As much as I wish the at home euthanasia worked out, I'm thankful for Metropolitan for being able to bring my baby some peace and comfort. My home will never be same. Rest in peace my sweet Lilly girl
Ms. Bailey,
We are so sorry for your loss of Lilly.
We are sure you had an extra layer of stress when you had to adjust your plans for Lilly's final moments, but we are happy that Dr. Wagoner and our team was able to make Lilly and your experiences as comfortable as possible. We send our love to you as your navigate your loss.
Experiencia fantástica: It’s taken me a few days to write this but I want to thank Dr Wagoner and the staff that was working the night of Jan 26-27 . I can’t say enough good things about the staff . Dr Wagoner helped both myself and my ex husband make the right but so very painful decision to put our fur baby down, Sammi. To the crew that worked that night …thank you for your service and your compassion, we appreciated it so very much Laura Staley
Thank you so much for thinking to write Dr. Wagoner and our team some kind words while processing your loss. We are so happy that we were able to bring some comfort during a very difficult decision.
Experiencia fantástica: We came to Metro after our dog received a positive diagnosis for blasto - which is an aggressive and severe fungal respiratory infection. From the second we walked in through the doors, everyone at Metro jumped in to help our sweet girl. Although it was an incredible stressful period, I’m grateful for the expertise and kindness of everyone at Metro. Thank you for putting our girl on the path to recovery!
Thank you so much for writing MVSES a 5-star review!
Blasto is a scary diagnosis, and we are so grateful you chose MVSES as Poppy's speciality hospital to manage her treatment.
Experiencia fantástica: All things considered, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The entire staff was kind, communicative, and transparent. Our sweet girl stayed in the ICU for five nights and received great care from Dr. Owens, Dr. Smith, and the wonderful vet techs. We are endlessly grateful that they were able to help our girl make a recovery. Hopefully we won’t need to come back but we take comfort knowing they are there and provide top notch emergency care.
Thank you so much for the 5-star review!
We will make sure our team sees your review! Poppy made friends here quickly, and we are so happy she is recovering well!
Experiencia negativa: I have been to Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Service and I want to share my thoughts so that other people will know what to expect when they go there. First, their standard approach is much different than other veterinary practices. Instead of examining an animal and then discussing the situation with you in order to make an informed decision as to appropriate care, they want a large deposit up front (several hundred dollars) and then they start running a lot of tests. Next, don’t expect much communication as to what they are doing and to the status of your non-human companion. We literally had to ask (after a couple hours of waiting) for any kind of update. That pattern repeated itself. Finally, the office was supposed to send electronic documentation of the visit to me via e-mail. They did not, so I got a copy from my regular veterinarian (which they did sent it to). Bottom line: In case of emergencies (ours happened outside of normal business hours), they are open 24 hours 7 days a week and they may be of some help to you. Caveat: Be aware that they are very expensive and that you might not receive the quality of service that you are expecting.
We are sorry to hear you were unhappy with the communication provided and expenses when bringing your pet into emergency care. If you would like a member of management to discuss this with you, please email us at [email protected] and we are happy to look into Onyx's visit
Experiencia negativa: The quality of care I received from the emergency doctors was disappointing. Throughout my dog’s 2 day stay, I received inconsistent communication from the various doctors on the shifts. In addition, when checking my dog out of the hospital, a doctor told to follow up with my primary vet since they could not identify the root cause of issue. Several weeks later, I received a phone call from the emergency doctor stating that my dog’s blood work wasn’t final at that time. This was a great inconvenience, because I began another round of testing and bloodwork to hopefully find the cause of my dog’s issue-while the doctors failed to mention previous test results were still pending. Not only could I have saved a mass about of money, I could have began treating my dogs symptoms more effectively. Extremely disappointed with service.
We're sorry to hear of your frustrations, particularly with communication. If you'd like to have a member of management reach out, please email us at [email protected] with you and your pet's information and we are happy to look into your pet's care.
Experiencia fantástica: Our vet sent us here for potential oral surgery due to a tumor on our cat's tongue that is obstructing his eating. Since the dental specialist, Dr Odenweller, was a direct referral, i hadn't read reviews until the night before our appointment. Some negative reviews mention rude staff but having spoke with 3 personnel plus the Dr, everyone was at least professional with most being friendly/accommodating. Even though they are booked thru Feb, they got us in within a week. We are grateful that they recognized the severity of the situation although it wasn't an emergency. Another review claim that had me concerned regarded price gouging or performing unnecessary procedures. When we arrived, my expectation was our cat would be sedated, an examination would be conducted, and while he was under the tumor would be removed if possible. Dr Odenweller was confident that he could determine surgical viability while our cat was awake and ultimately advised it was inoperable. He very easily could have taken this opportunity to inflate charges. A third type of complaint i read previously involved cost. The exam was approximately triple our usual vet but worth the peace of mind. Thank you Dr Odenweller for making time to listen to our concerns and give us advice.
Thank you for the 5 star review!
We appreciate your thorough feedback regarding your experience at MVSES. We will be sure to share your kind words with our Dentistry service so they can see how much you valued your cat's recent appointment with them!
Experiencia fantástica: Had to visit metro during this crazy weather today due to what I thought was a life threatening emergency with my dog. I talked to 4-5 different staff members, from reception to techs to doctor, and each person was so kind and patient. I’ve been to other vet offices in the past where the staff treated me like an inconvenience or rushed me. Not these guys. They truly care, and are empathetic to what you’re going through. Thank you to all the employees who showed up today. The roads were absolutely awful, but you were there to take care of my fur baby, and with such compassion too. Thank you!
Thank you!
With the snowstorm adding a layer of stress to our community, our pets, and our staff, it really means so much to hear kind words from understanding clients! We hope Reggie is feeling more comfortable now!
Experiencia negativa: Awful service. You get thrown In a room and are told to wait. No explanation on what they are doing next. The animal is then taken by one of the techs to be taken back to get “test” ran on them…. Be prepared to wait for hours to even get to see your baby after that. I WILL NOT EVER refer anyone to this vet. Worst experience ever. Go to literally any other animal hospital! Atleast it’s cheaper and you are more than likely able to still able to comfort your animal while waiting on lab work to return. Not to mention the $900 deposit!!! That’s to cover “ the labs and exam” which very little labs were done and the exam obviously was not the most through and we were given a guessed answer. Second opinion will be acquired for sure. Wouldn’t even give them one star if I had the option
We're sorry to hear you are frustrated with your experience. If you'd like to have a member of management reach out to you, send an email to [email protected] and we will pass on your case to be evaluated. Thank you
Experiencia negativa: Horrible! Took 2 hours just to see the dr to ask questions as to why we were being discharged. Then my poor 4month old pup was COMPLETELY lethargic, laying on the floor & reacted to nothing (I have video) & the front desk was to send someone "right in" 45 mins later (plus the 2hrs) they came in and said "oh its probably because hes tired since you've never had him in a crate before" i was treated terribly as well, so I dont even want to think how he was treated behind closed doors. Anyways, 2 days later went to his vet for follow up (this was Tuesday) They immediately sent us to Blue Pearl (who are ANGELS!!! By the way) & my sweet boy has been there..... admitted..... since Tuesday night. So take from this what you will, but I will NEVER go here again & I've made sure to let my friends know its unethical & just not a good place. Pricing is questionable as well & i never asked for an e-collar and was apparently charged (an insane amount) for one. Just seems very shady, money hungry & I question their love for these sweet animals :(
We're sorry to hear you had a poor experience. If you would like a member of management to reach out to you, please email us at [email protected] and we will look further into your pet's care.
Experiencia negativa: If I could give them worse than a one I would. Took my animal out there on the recommendation of my veterinarian. On their website they have listed multiple veterinarians and staff members. We waited two hours and saw no one and the tech told us they only had two on site that night to see sick animals. In the ER for animals they only had two staff. Look at their website!I would hate to leave my animal all night in a place like that. And for what they charge to provide excellent ER care I don’t believe it. Don’t go there read the reviews! The communication was awful! Not one person ever came in to speak to us, tell us how our animal was asked how we were tell us what was going on . The only person who ever came in to speak to us was the nice receptionist who after seven hours offered us a bottle of water the vet was very nice and smart I liked her and it’s a shame she has to work in a place like that I would never ever go there again or recommend anyone go there if they had better communication it might not have been so bad I understand taking the serious cases first but my dog was very sick and to me my dog was a priority to me they just have no concern PS Reply received. What good would it do to look into it? You still provide the same bad service and awful communication. Several reviews just since we were there saying the same thing. I have received several names of other places from people who told us never to come to you. You provide I needed service, but you could also provide a decent service and you don’t. Less than a one star is not good enough for you. Sorry.
We are sorry to hear about your frustrations with the Emergency wait time, and poor communication. If you would like to send us an email at [email protected] with your name and your pet's name, we are happy to look into your experience.
Experiencia fantástica: I highly recommend Dr. Clark for eye care, he has been great with our boxer both times we have needed treatment. They are friendly, helpful and explain the issue and procedure so it’s easy to understand.
Thank you so much for leaving MVSES's eye care team a 5-star review! We are always so happy to receive kind words from our pet families! We will make sure Dr. Clark sees your review!
Experiencia negativa: Wait time is absolutely insulting. Apparently they reply to reviews with the same info stating why wait times are so long. Vet called with all details etc before I ever arrived. There was no excuse. Apparently extremely understaffed. I have been waiting 3 hours and have still not seen any sign of a doctor or treatment plan. Absolutely unacceptable.
We're sorry to hear you were frustrated with the long wait time for the emergency service. If you'd like to have management reach out to hear your concerns, please call us at (502)266-7007 or email us details such as your name and your pets name and we can further look into your pet's case.
Thank you
Experiencia fantástica: We had to take out beloved 16 yo cat, Mitten, to Metro on December 23. He was having trouble breathing. The staff immediately took him for tests and encouraged me to call family members to be there. Our sweet boy had lung cancer, advanced and unknown to us. Dr. Ross was the gentlest, kindest, most compassionate vet we could have hoped for. She shared stories of her own cat’s death and how she knew exactly what we were going through. She gave us time with him to love on him and say our goodbyes and gave us all the time we needed afterward to hold him. The staff honored our request for some of his fur and pawprints of each foot because he was polydactyl and each paw was different. Their front office staff was extremely compassionate when I picked up his cremains on NYE by myself and was a crying mess. I miss our Mitteb every day but I am thankful for Dr. Ross and Metro for taking care of all of us that night.
Thank you so much for writing MVSES a 5 star review. We will make sure Dr. Ross sees your kind words. We really appreciate you taking the time while grieving to recognize our team. It means so much to us.
Please accept our condolences on your loss of Mitten. Thank you for sharing those sweet pictures of him!
Experiencia negativa: The slowest and most incompetent vet facility I’ve ever been to. Waited 7 hours for antibiotics and get seen for a wound. Absolutely terrible service
Mr. Vanek,
We are sorry to hear about your frustration regarding the wait time for Whiskey’s care. We would like to provide further information on our protocols to clarify how our hospital operates.
As a 24-hour emergency and multi-specialty facility, we manage a high volume of severely ill and injured pets requiring round-the-clock attention. In addition to caring for our hospitalized patients, we manage emergency triages without scheduled appointments. Each case is continuously reviewed, and care is prioritized based on medical urgency. Consequently, stable pets will experience longer wait times than those in immediate distress.
We understand that waiting can be difficult when you're worried about your pet. Please be assured that we strive to work as efficiently as possible while maintaining our focus on providing the highest quality of care to every patient.
Experiencia fantástica: Our cat, Lem is currently inpatient at Metro, referred by our regular veterinarian on New Years Eve. Dr. Marshall has been a godsend. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and Dr. Marshall, we were given substantive updates, and we were given many check points with regards to our finances and care. I fully expect a large bill when we are ready to pack up and get our boy home, but we fully understand we are paying a premium for high level 24/7 care. I have had experiences with other emergency vet facilities that were not kind, abrupt, and felt like money seeking. I did not feel that way at all with Metro, everyone was kind, timely, and willing to talk through scenarios with us. There was always a hint of budget consciousness to our conversations which was much appreciated. Dr. Marshall seems to really care about our cats case and his wellbeing. We will be using metro for our emergency needs from here on out!
Thank you so much for the 5 star review! We will make sure Dr. Marshall sees this! We are so happy that Lem is responding well to care and will hopefully be back home with his family soon!
Experiencia fantástica: Yesterday, I had to bring my puppy in and received difficult news. The front office staff was incredible I wish I could remember the man’s name so I could thank him properly. Dr. Marshall was amazing, and we're deeply grateful for her support, and the love she showed all of us. Her compassion was clear in her voice. Despite the unexpected outcome, I’m thankful for the care and how quickly everyone acted. Thank you for treating my sweet boy with so much love and compassion.
Thank you so much for writing us a 5 star review! We know how difficult your weekend was, and we appreciate you taking time to write us kind words. We hope we made Rocky's journey as comfortable as possible. Thinking of your family during this difficult time.
Experiencia fantástica: Awesome job to help preventing an obstruction on Blue, my Aussie. Thank you very much
Mr. Nevitt,
Thank you so much for writing us a 5 star review! We're so glad we were able to retrieve the chewed up ball without having to take Blue to surgery!
Experiencia negativa: My dog had a laceration on his face and was bleeding pretty bad, we called and got him checked in and they were in no hurry, they said they would call us when they had someone available to care for him they never called and we ended up having to take him elsewhere to get care, that was 3 days ago and I still never received and email or a call.
Mr. Perkins,
Thank you for providing us with this review. We have looked into why this could have happened, and we see a note that a triage nurse called around 10pm and was unable to leave a voicemail. We worry perhaps we had the wrong phone number. If you don't mind, please email us at [email protected] what time you left and what your correct phone number is so we may further investigate your complaint. We are glad your pet was able to receive care.
Experiencia fantástica: We took our dog, Zero, immediately here due to a sudden onset seizure. They were fast to respond and amazingly friendly. Zero is feeling much better after some much needed care. We are eternally grateful and would absolutely recommend!
Thank you for leaving MVSES a 5 star review! We are relieved to hear that Zero is feeling better!
Experiencia negativa: Staff was nice but when I had to put my cat down I was being sold cremation services while I was still holding him . Also I took my other cat and the charged me 1200 dollars and told me she was dehydrated.
Mr. Kirk,
We are sorry that we seem to have dropped the ball when discussing afterlife care with you after you lost Eddie. We will look into who had the discussion about cremation options with you and address training as needed. We are so sorry for your loss.
Experiencia fantástica: I unfortunately had to bring our dog dak here after noticing his off behavior over night. The staff were polite and timely in his assessment. Dr Marshall was honest about his prognosis. I am writing this review to thank all the staff for helping my sweet but spicy dak. Dr marshall really seemed to care about dak and his quality of life. As a pet owner it can be easy to want to extend their life but doesn’t mean it’s of good quality. She answered all of our questions and helped dak cross the rainbow bridge peacefully and not in pain. I wish what was wrong with him was different but I am thankful that they took the time to care for him in his final moments. Thank you Dr Marshall.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write us a review, and for your kind words about Dr. Marshall. We will make sure she sees your note.
Please accept our deepest condolences for your unexpected loss of Dak.
Experiencia negativa: RUDE MALE AND FEMALE STAFF - AVOID - AVOID- AVOID- THIS PLACE OF HELL! I went with my cat Amber, and on the way I called for directions and the female staff was so impatient in the middle of a medical emergency I was on my own. Then I am seen with Amber and when it was time to go, this man came and said its time to go, I said ok (waiting on my carrier for said Amber the cat). Then he came back again, and said it firmer, I said yes, where is my carrier for my cat? Then he shyly left, BECAUSE THEY DIDNT EVEN KNOW TO BRING MY CAT THE CARRIER, WAS I SUPPOSED TO WALK HER DOWN THE HALL AT 20 YEARS OLD AND SICK! AWFUL PEOPLE, TERRIBLE, HEARTLESS and sleep walking HUMAN BEINGS WORK HERE. I won't ever, ever, be back. I will be calling cooperate as well. Ok everyone, so below they said they have no record of my visit. I have pulled up my call log, which shows an 8 minute call and I have called my bank for statements. I went in February of 2024 and spent almost $400. So, as I stated before, they have poor organization if they can't bring my carrier to the room but insist firmly I leave, and have no records of my visit with Amby Bambi. I have sent an email to the address provided as prompted. Update: They have emailed me and apologized.
Mr. Fields,
We have no recent records of seeing you and Amber at our hospital. Perhaps you have the wrong hospital you've left a review for?
We are not a corporate-owned or managed facility, as well. If there is a chance that you're referencing your visit from several years ago, we are happy to hear your concerns. You may email us at [email protected] or give us a call at (502) 266-7007
Experiencia negativa: My husband and I waited for 5 hours in our car for our dog to be examined, diagnosed and released. Once the vet called with a diagnosis, we then waited 2 hours for him to be released. They were friendly but must be short staffed for it to take the extreme amount of time it took. His diagnosis was anxiety. So surely there should have been a better way of moving things along.
Mrs. Graham,
We're sorry to hear that you were frustrated with the time it took for Samson's emergency service visit. Due to the nature of an emergency hospital, the timeliness of triage, diagnostics, and care is in constant rotation based on the severity of the emergencies that are in our hospital.
We understand that it is hard to consider the other patients that need care when you are worried about your own pet. We empathize that it is very scary waiting to see what is wrong with your own pet, and we all want care to move as quickly as possible.
We hope that with a bit of reflection you may understand that thankfully Samson was not the most sick patient in need of emergency care that night. Samson was stable and healthy enough to wait while, at times, other pets needed urgent care.
We do our best to keep our services as efficient as possible, while still providing high quality care. Thank you for your feedback and concerns. We hope Samson is feeling better now.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr Roberts and the dermatology staff were wonderful to work with. They got us in quickly and did a very thorough history and exam! Our pup is a bit of a medical mystery, but we were able to proceed with his care knowing all our options thanks to her clear and detailed explanations.
Thank you so much for writing a 5 star review! We are so happy that our Dermatology team was able to help Hobbes and have a plan in place for his concerns!
Experiencia fantástica: Two nights ago, one of my puppies (Rolo) displayed sudden signs of lethargy and pain. I rushed him to Metropolitan for evaluation and treatment. They identified several small "calcified" pieces in his stomach, which had become enlarged as a result. I gladly agreed to leave Rolo overnight, namely because of the professionalism, apparent competence, and warmness of each staff member that interacted with Rolo. The good news is that Rolo improved the following day and was released to convalesce at home. Drs Torre and Owens were both fantastic. I can't say enough about the confidence I would have in each of them to care for both of my dogs. Both communicated clearly and followed up with me when they said they would. Thanks to each of you and your entire team at Metropolitan.
Mr. Lally,
Thank you so much for leaving MVSES a 5 star review! Handsome Rolo was a rockstar, and we are so glad he improved during his hospitalization! Hopefully he is back to being a silly puppy!
Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommend. They helped us with our Bentley last week. Very sincere and caring staff.
Thank you so much for writing us a kind message. We appreciate you using MVSES for Bentley's care. Sending love to your family during this difficult time.
Experiencia fantástica: I brought my very ill dog there last Saturday. For those reading the reviews.. here are my thoughts. Be prepared to advocate for your animal and your wallet. I will say this is a much different experience then a standard vet. You are taken to an exam room and a history is taken of your pet's illness or injury. Daisy Mae was not examined and the front office staff is very young and obviously trained to get payment up front. They will then take your pet to the back after initial payment is made. And then you wait and wait and wait with no communication. My advice is to train the staff in educating their pet owners on the expected amount of wait time, how their process works and to show their clients where the restroom is, offer water and a bit of comfort. We are terrified. Mix some compassion with business. I explained that I was authorizing an exam and ultrasound only until I spoke with the vet. They obliged. Now, the reason behind the 5 star review... Dr. WAGNER was understanding of budget limitations and offered numerous options. She was kind, listened and I felt we worked as a team to come up with a plan. She allowed my dog to come back to the room while waiting for results (after I requested) and discussed prices with every step of care. After 5 days of constant home support, I am happy to report that Daisy Mae is on the mend. I honestly thought I would have to euthanize her when I took her in. The 5 stars is for Dr. Wagner. Excellent medical staff, so-so front staff but go in with honest expectations and dont be afraid to stand up for your wallet. They do understand.
Diane,
Thank you for leaving some great feedback. We have shared your concerns with the leads of the teams that were here during Daisy Mae's visit as we are always teaching our teams and growing!
We're thrilled you had such a great experience with Dr. Wagoner's care! We try to always offer several options of different levels of care that fit our patients and our clients needs. We will pass your kind words on to Dr. Wagoner as well.
We hope Daisy Mae is feeling better! We are here whenever you may need us!
Experiencia fantástica: These folks have helped me with 3 different pets now and I’ve never had a bad experience. Two experiences were simple and were referred out. The third, my puppy contracted a deadly virus. Techs and vets made sure to keep my girl happy and make all efforts. They were very clear about what treatment they suggested, and met my bank account with what we could do. It’s because of them my girl is still with us.
Thank you so much for leaving us a 5 star review!
Our team really appreciates hearing kind feedback after working so hard! We hope miss Poppy has recovered well and is back to being a crazy happy puppy!
Experiencia negativa: I’ve been here for 5 hours. I told them half an hour ago that I want my cat’s cage and I want to leave. They already have my $900 and all they did were labs. I had to drink from a faucet because there is no water and I was scolded for going to my car after 3 hours here because the lobby is shut down due to an “incident” last week. I JUST WANT TO LEAVE!!!!!
We are sorry to hear that you were frustrated with your experience seeking emergency care for your cat.
Performing in house diagnostics, such as collecting and running the bloodwork and urinalysis, taking radiographs, and performing an ultrasound, take time. In an emergency hospital, we see a large volume of very ill or injured pets. On the day of your visit, in addition to all the hospitalized patients, we saw over 50 new pets. We do our best to be efficient, but often there is a long wait in an emergency room. We understand that is difficult as a client, especially when processing sad news about your pet's health.
We have reached out regarding your discharge instructions. Please give us a call at (502)266-7007.
Experiencia negativa: Took my kitten there and was told 1200-1500 would be the cost, then when I told them I only 500, they took him in and what do you know the bill was 487. Seems ironic to me. Very rude and demanding of money. I feel like they would have let him die had I not had any money.
Mr. Meadors,
We were disappointed to hear that you are frustrated with the care you and Simba received. Our overnight team worked diligently to provide the best care possible within the constraints of your stated budget and, in an effort to assist Simba, even removed certain items from your invoice.
We understand that you are dealing with a very sick kitten, and the expense of emergency care can be unexpectedly high. However, we are concerned about your implication that our team would ever want an animal to pass away. We find that language to be hurtful and unfair, as our commitment is always to the well-being of our patients.
We sincerely hope that your primary care veterinarian was able to provide successful continued care and that Simba pulls through.
If you would like to discuss your concerns directly with a member of our management team, please call our hospital or email us at [email protected].
Experiencia positiva: We had a chocolate lab, Bo, and he suffered for allergyies. They did extensive tests and found he was allergic to different types of grass and Cedar. Developed a serum and we gave him weekly shots. This helped quite a bit. The facility is a large, busy clinic that is quite expensive though. We have used them for knee repair on two other labs since. On one surgery, some of the staff were insensitive and a little rude, but the doc we delt with,(Dr Royal) was great. We live in Owensboro and left at 4:30 am for 3 days in row for office visits. We were told on the second visit that our pet could go home. That was obviously a mixup and had to return the next morning. That's when the receptionist was very insensitive, rude and unapologetic....but like I said Dr Royal was nice. In the end our dog recovered well. Would endure the high cost and callous, unkind staff member again though.
Mr. Gordon,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback. Hearing from clients really helps us pinpoint where we can improve. MVSES has actively been working on improving communication between our team and pet's families.
In the future, if your pets require specialty care again, please feel free to reach out if there are concerns and we will investigate in a timely manner.
Take care,
MVSES
Experiencia fantástica: I took my maltipoo to Metropolitan when she suddenly became very ill. Despite efforts of the vet and excellent staff, we had to put her to sleep. Dr Marshall was outstanding in her care—kind, gentle and empathetic. She and the staff made a terrible loss bearable. I highly recommend.
Good Afternoon Martha,
Thank you so much for taking time to write MVSES such a kind review. We know how much you loved Coco and how difficult it was to see her little body have such a hard time. We understand how deeply painful it is to lose a part of the family so we do our best to make a very difficult day as comfortable as possible for everyone.
Take Care
Experiencia fantástica: My 11 year old cat, Loki, needed a mass removed from her neck/throat. We had been to 3 vet offices and all recommended going to Metro for a CT and exam. We met with Dr. Restle on a Wednesday and were scheduled for surgery on Friday! Dr. Restle listened to me, he thoroughly explained his examination and findings, and he gave me the space to ask questions! Dr. Restle’s assistant was in the room to ensure notes were taken in real time and reassured me that my baby would be in good hands! The day of surgery, he called to inform me before he began surgery and after the surgery. Personally working in the medical field, I am in awe of his dedication to the animals and their parents. With Metro being an emergency and referral clinic, the treatment did have a fair cost to it. The world is expensive now and being able to have care credit as a payment option is great. My sweet Loki is doing great and every day I am thankful for Metro for helping her!
Good Afternoon!
Thank you so much for leaving MVSES a great review! We are thrilled to hear that you had such a great experience, and that Loki is recovering well! We will pass your note on to Dr. Restle, it is always so nice to receive great feedback!
We accept Care Credit and scratchpay, as well as communicate with any pet insurance plans in order to help clients manage payment for specialty care. We are glad you were able to take advantage of one of those options!
Take care!
Experiencia negativa: I only gave 1 star because I couldn’t leave a negative star!! Took my 3lb yorkie poo in for possible surgery on a broken leg. My vet sent his xrays, medical records and notes from his appointment yesterday. The tech that took him back was very rude, 10 mins after he was taken back Vet came in to “go over plan of care” all she did was tell me she seen the notes from my Dr and surgery was recommended. I was trying to ask if this is a safe surgery for him being so small but she wouldn’t even acknowledge I was asking questions, just wanted to talk about how much it was going to cost and that I had to pay $5,000 up front and remaining balance when he was picked up in a day or 2 (depending on when they would even get to his surgery) I told them that wasn’t what was told to me or my vet yesterday and I would take him somewhere else and please bring my dog back. I walk to desk after waiting about 10-15 mins and was told I had to pay a bill of $187 or they would not release my dog. $187 for 10 mins?? No way she examined him in 10 mins! All they care about is money and not about the wellbeing of your pet!! If i honestly owe a bill I have no problem paying it but I’m sorry $187 for 10 mins of her reading me what my vet already said!!
We apologize that you were frustrated by the requirement to pay an exam/office visit fee during your pet's emergency room visit. While we strive for efficiency in our triage and care process, it appears there may have been a misunderstanding regarding the expected procedure for a stable referral case.
For a stable leg fracture referral, our process involves several critical steps even after the initial communication between your referring veterinarian and our surgical team:
1. Review of Prior Information: We thoroughly review the notes, diagnostics, and communication received from your primary veterinarian.
2. ER Examination: Upon arrival, the attending emergency veterinarian reviews all existing information and then conducts a complete physical examination of your pet. This exam is essential to ensure there are no secondary concerns, such as undetected trauma, dehydration, uncontrolled pain, etc. that need immediate attention before moving forward with surgery.
3. Care Plan Formulation: Following the exam, the attending veterinarian uses all available data to create the finalized care plan for hospitalization and surgery before coming to speak with you.
The fee covers this essential time spent by our ER veterinarian and boarded surgeons reviewing diagnostics, examining your pet, and formulating the pre-surgical care plan.
We are truly disappointed to hear that you had a poor experience, and we hope you were able to secure comfortable veterinary care for Dozer.
If you would like a member of our management team to reach out to discuss your experience in more detail, please reply email us at [email protected] with the best phone number to reach you, and someone will be in touch.
Experiencia negativa: Will never go back! Charged me $900 for a blood test and X-ray...gave me 4 pills for 2 days...told me my dog needed surgery that would cost $8k. When my primary called them, they would not give them the info they asked for! Over priced BS
Good Evening,
If you would like to email us more details, such as your pet's name and the contact name your pet is under in our system we are happy to look into things for you. We are concerned there is a fair amount of miscommunication that we would like to clear up.
Experiencia negativa: I DO NOT know who trained these people that eye balls are not an emergency, when they could’ve cost my dog his vision. Stitch popped out and sat in my car for two hours with a stitch scratching my babies eyeball while he was yelping and crying and very uncomfortable. Luckily, I kept calling around asking people to help us and found urgent vet down the street, who took him in as an emergency and cut the stitch. His eyeball and cornea all scratched and an ulcer forming. They should be ashamed. They do not care about your pet. I will never use them or recommend it. Praying his vision isn’t affected long term from their negligence.
Good Evening,
We are sorry to read that you are frustrated with the wait time you experienced with our emergency service. Unfortunately, while many things may require care as soon as possible, in an emergency setting every patient has to be triaged in order of the potential for a life threatening emergency. We agree that eye conditions may require urgent care, and we are pleased that you found an urgent care facility with a short wait time to be seen.
Unfortunately, it sounds as though we may have not properly explained the difference between urgent care and emergency care while you were waiting to be seen. Ultimately, we are glad your pet was able to have their condition resolved.
If you would like to further your concerns to management, you may email us at [email protected].
Experiencia fantástica: I think people need to come to the realization, you pay more at the emergency vet. Just like you do for a hospital visit. With that being said. I was recently there with my dog. Waiting for several hours, I witnessed heartache and sadness from pet owners losing their pets that night.. I witnessed hard work and dedication these techs and doctors go through day in and day out. They do not get enough credit for that they endure during their shift. I have the upmost respect for Dr. Wagoner. She was kind and nurturing but real during this difficult time I have to face with my dog. I appreciate her honesty and compassion.
Thank you so much for your kind words
Experiencia fantástica: I had to take my naughty bullies in to vomit up things they shouldn’t have eaten. Incredibly kind and helpful staff and doctors. Highly recommend!
Thank you for your kind words! I hope your crew is on their best behavior now!
Experiencia positiva: Not a place/situation we wanted end up at obviously, no one does in emergency situations. I couldn't begin to explain the appreciation I have for Dr Marshall. how kind, compassionate and empathetic on the situation with everything no one wants to hear about a loved one. She definitely is a vet/person I would recommend to anyone. And she is the sole reason this isn't a 1 star review. The only thing that really irked me was the tactlessness of one of the reciptionist girls. It's easy to see they have a manuscript to follow for admitting with financials first answers later. (Understandable for the most part) But the kicker for her to tell us there are other pressing cases first before she can let us know anything.... look we got refered to transfer our dog way ahead of our arrival time and waited 2+ hours for just something beneficial to us to know how's she was doing. For future admissions re write the manuscript for them to follow on the there's more pressing cases first....
Chase LaValle,
We are glad Dr. Marshall was able to guide you through a difficult time during Meiko's emergency care. We understand how stressful and scary it can be to be referred to a new specialty hospital where you don't have a relationship with a veterinarian.
We are troubled to hear that there was poor communication from a part of our team. We will make sure your concerns are passed on. If you would like to speak to a member of management, you may send us an email to [email protected] and we will make sure to be in touch.
Lately, please accept our condolences on your loss. We appreciate you sharing feedback while maneuvering through your grief. Take Care.
Experiencia negativa: I wish I could say better things. But the price for the care we received this last visit was not good. Dropped over $1200 for little to nothing. They seemed a little judgemental. I've seen another review that claimed a reasonable price, but I've utilized a lot of Vet ER'S in the past also. Price vs results was not worth it on my last visit. They kept us there too long running Ing unreasonable test that didn't yield the results they were claiming.
Good Evening,
We are concerned to hear that you don't feel as though the diagnostics and care we provide are worth the expense. We do our best to keep prices fair while being able to operate 24/7. We understand there can be a sense of disappointment when diagnostics don't give a rock solid answer to our pet's symptoms. Good news can feel like you spent money for nothing.
If you would like to have a member from our team reach out to you, please email us at [email protected] with the best number.
Experiencia fantástica: I see so many people giving them bad reviews due to the price. We have had to utilize emergency vet hospitals three times now unfortunately and they are about the same as the others. I will say they took real good care of Maylee, acted quick, communication was on point, and very friendly staff. From the moment I called, to driving an hour and a half, to them getting her back for care was very efficient. They kept her for two nights, did a reconstruction surgery and then we were able to come get her. Like I said before, the price was average as the others we utilized. They were clear and upfront with everything they did and the charges. She even came home with a cast with ghosts and candy corn on it. I would recommend them to any other pet parent.
Thank you so much for the great review!
We aim to not only provide a gold standard of care, but to also keep the expenses associated with specialty and emergency care as fair as possible. We are so happy with Maylee's recovery and look forward to seeing her in a couple weeks for her surgery recheck!
Experiencia fantástica: Unfortunate need to seek services here, but I was really impressed by the quality of care. The doctor made sure we knew what was going on, and let us come back to the exam area to view an ultrasound while explaining. Ultimately needed euthanasia, and was glad that they made the situation as easy as possible and everyone we encountered was very compassionate. His remains came in a very nice box.
Terese Brooks,
First, please accept our condolences on your loss of Steadman. We understand how scary it can be to need emergency care for your pet in the middle of the night. We are glad to hear that you were well informed and comforted while having to make such a difficult decision.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a kind review, we really appreciate it.
Experiencia fantástica: My cat had been misdiagnosed with an elongated palate, and I brought her in for what I thought would be a surgery consultation. During the evaluation, the vet immediately suspected a polyp, and that’s exactly what it was. Within just a couple of hours, the polyp was removed and my cat was finally breathing normally for the first time in months. The doctor and surgical tech were both friendly and informative which made the whole experience much easier.
Thank you for leaving MVSES a 5 star review!
We are so happy Maddy was able to have a less invasive correction and is feelng well!
Experiencia fantástica: Wanted to pop in & leave a review. We didn’t know if our dog would survive the fall she had, or ever be able to walk again if she pulled through. She’s walking and thriving as best as she can and that wouldn’t be possible without the neurologist on staff, and the staff in general. Thank you for saving my soulmate. A special thank you to the technicians who always handled her with care. The tender communication and genuine concern for a horrible situation did not go unappreciated. We can’t thank you all enough.
Thank you for leaving MVSES a 5 -star review! We couldn't be happier with how well Roxi is doing! She is one tough little girl!
Experiencia fantástica: Our dog had to have chemo. They were so good with her. A wonderful caring group.
Wuest family,
Thank you for leaving us a kind review. We are honored to have been a part of Ruby's fight. Take Care.
Experiencia negativa: I called this office about needing to bring my dog in to be seen. It was late and our normal office wasn’t open. I explained my dog has Lyme disease and experiencing a flareup. Was taken to normal office about a month ago and given antibiotics. However, he began vomiting today, and also started having straight blood coming from his rectum like water. I’ve also noticed less urination. The office told me to call when I was on my way to gather my information, and I did. They told me to call when I arrived to the office, and I did. When I called to check in I was told that a vet tech was going to come out to my car and take my dog inside. Through these three phone calls, I was under the impression that everything was going to happen pretty hastily and was never given a wait time. After about 30 minutes, I called to see how long it was going to take for someone to come outside. I was told one to two hours, which I was not told previously, but I waited. After 2 1/2 hours I call again as I’m still waiting in the parking lot and they told me they don’t have a ETA for me, that it could still be another one to two hours. If this were a human a GI bleed and possible kidney injury would be a critical medical condition that would’ve been seen a lot sooner. I left. Had I known they were going to be so unbothered I wouldn’t have made the 45 min drive there. Im getting into another office ASAP, one of which recognizes the need for emergent treatment. What a joke.
Experiencia negativa: We took our severely sick puppy girl to metropolitan veterinary. They ran tests that cost me $1,701.00. They said the test results would be back in a few days. They sent me home with three medicines. Then when we checked out, they told us to follow up with your regular vet because we don’t do follow ups here. We also don’t do refills if you need more medicine. It has been 14 days and they still don’t have the results back. In the mean time she has passed away. Do not go here with your pets.
Good Morning,
First, please accept our condolences on your loss of Willow. We have passed your message on to our Emergency Service Director and they will reach out to you soon.
Experiencia fantástica: Last month we took our Great Dane, Leroy, to you guys. He unfortunately was experiencing bloat/GDV. We are so grateful for your quick responses and effective communication during these scary times. I feel you weighed both the pros and cons of surgery for us and gave us time to make a decision. Dr Neat was very communicative and called us everyday with updates on how Leroy was doing. It has officially been a month and Leroy is back to his normal self again! We are so grateful for your team and we would definitely be in a different part of our lives right now if it wasn’t for you!
Oh, it is so wonderful to hear that Leroy is doing well at home and is back to his normal self! We will make sure the teams that worked to help Leroy see your note!
Thank you so much for your kind words and update!
Experiencia fantástica: I took my puggle Bruiser in for a wound on his neck! I forgot the vets name, but she was very caring! She gave him an antibiotic, a steroid and some wound wash. He healed up very good.
Mr. Asbury,
Thank you so much for leaving us a review! We are so happy that Dr. Marshall was able to help Bruiser out and he is healing well! Be well!
Experiencia negativa: Terrible communication. Way over priced even for triage. TOLD US IT WOULD BE REASONABLE TO PUT CAT DOWN AND THAT CAT IS ALIVE AND WELL DAYS LATER.. This was our first time using this emergency vet. We showed up and called as the sign prompted, checked our cat in and let them know what was going on with him. They told us they were not too busy but they were triage so others may show up and be placed ahead of him. We waited over an hour with no communication. We then called from the parking lot and asked for a possible time frame and they explained others had come in and were put ahead of him as they were triage cases. We asked what they considered triage because our cat was in very bad shape and white gums. This is when one of the employees then said they would come to the parking lot and look. They look and said to bring him in. They called triage and a tech came out. That tech stated they would need a $900 deposited due to them being a triage hospital and asked me to sign an acknowledgment on an iPad that only had the signature screen none of the actual form I was signing. Hindsight I should have asked for a print out of what I was signing because the tech failed to mention they would not only charge the deposit of $900 but continue testing up to $1200. The tech stated they would take our cat back and take a look, I could go back out to the car and wait for a call. My understanding was they would take a look and meet with us on a plan but another 1.5 hrs went by. So we called again and they reported they were still testing. We ask if there was any kind of time frame and were told "well if you walked in now it would be 4-6 hours". We asked about cost and found we were beyond $900 and they said you had signed up to $1200. So then we asked if we could speak to the vet to get an idea of where we were as we could not afford much more and we thought he was just dehydrated. Once we got to speak to the vet they had listed several possible issues and would like to keep him over night for additional 3K+. We didn't have the money so we asked what our options were. The vet said if we could not continue with the additional testing/eventual treatment it would be reasonable to put him down. Luckily our gut instinct was to not do that. We asked if we took him home would he be suffering. The vet felt he was not in pain just severely nauseous. My husband asked about nausea medicine to take home to make him comfortable but the vet felt we would not be able to administer it and she would give him some before we left through the IV. The vet also stated if we were taking him home for more time with him, we were welcome to stay and hang out with him as long as we wanted before euthanizing. We still felt we wanted to take him home. We then waited nearly another 2 hours to get our cat and go home. After a very long time waiting to get our cat and go home, the front desk promised they were coming out soon but that did not happen. They did not bring him out until I overheard the front desk employees discussing if he had been marked ready and it was not showing on one of the screens. Once this conversation happened they came out. $1300 dollars and 6 hours later our cat was rehydrated but we left with no diagnosis besides the understanding we were taking him home to die. We were warned he may not make it through the night. We were left to research on our own how to help our cat. We were able to get our cat through the weekend until our normal vet could see him. Our cats blood work came back at normal levels. No kidney disease, no heart disease, etc. Most likely got into something toxic to him. We are unsure what that was but our cat is better and on the mend. I understand our cat came in to the ER in a terrible state but to be given no other alternatives besides spend tons of money or euthanize feels ridiculous. So glad our guts said not to put him down.
Experiencia fantástica: Last week, our sweet little Sugar (pekingese) Was involved in an altercation with a larger dog. She suffered five broken ribs, broken jaw puncture to her lung and a fracture in her spine. My husband and I were devastated and first seek attention from our local vet. He gave her some pain medicine and wrapped her ribs and sent us to Evansville Indiana. They were not a 24 hour location so they sent us to you. By the time we arrived at 11 PM that Thursday night we were both worried and exhausted with only the clothes on our back. We had driven from Owensboro KY. When we arrived, the staff consulted us, took her back immediately started her IV put her in the oxygen chamber and monitored her Pain and vitals. Sugar spent four days with you and we stayed close by in a hotel. She made it through the first night and we were hopeful that she would survive. Dr. Owens, Staff and front desk were incredibly helpful during our time of calling and visiting. Thank you for saving the youngest of our four sugar is doing well. Tolerating the feed tubing and her pain is being managed along with antibiotics that you sent home for us. At night she sleeps in a porta crib and during the day she goes from doggy bed to doggy bed throughout the house. We are so grateful to the staff and the Facility for saving our sugar bear! I’m certain she’s one you will not forget as she would charge each and every one of you when you came to help her. I believe it was her feisty behavior and lots of prayers that saved her life. Sincerely, Mike and Lori Lewis Owensboro KY
Mrs. Lewis,
Thank you so much for giving us an update on Sugar! What a tough little lady she is! We will make sure our team sees your kind words as it really means a lot to us when people take the time to send us a positive message! We hope Sugar continues to heal well!
Experiencia fantástica: Our nine-year-old Pekingese got attacked by a German Shepherd. Our local vet sent us to emergency animal Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, and they couldn’t do anything for her.. So they sent us the Metropolitan and I just cannot say enough great things about the Care we received for our little girl we call Sugar. She had five broken ribs, a broken jaw, and a punctured lung. She suffered a lot of trauma and not once did they suggest that we put her down. They did amazing work to save our pet. She spent three days in their care, And then they sent us home with the poor thing, all bandaged up with the feeding tube. Two days later when we took her to our regular vet, he said that it was a miracle that she survived. Everyone there at Metropolitan did an amazing job of saving our baby girl. And everyone there was so professional and friendly. It was absolutely an amazing experience..
Mr. Lewis,
Thank you so much for your message! We really appreciate your family fighting to get care for Sugar, and all the at-home care that you'll be doing as she fully recovers from all her trauma. Sugar is one tough cookie!
Thank you again for your kind words!
Experiencia fantástica: Did their hardest to save my kitty Dom, and I really appreciate that. We had solid communication, quick service, and for the amount we spent (despite it being a lot) it feels we got a good value for the services they provided and the prices was not any worse than retail chain vets (i.e. Banfield) They were unfortunately not able to save him, but they called the moment he started having worse issues and we're able to keep him comfortable and alive until the time came to put him to sleep. Keep in mind they will finish billing before euthanasia steps, but I think I prefer that. We would 100% come back to them if needed for our other pets
First, let us express our deepest condolences on your loss of Dom. We thank you for giving him a chance, and appreciate you taking the time to leave us some kind words while you and your family are grieving.
Please let us know if we can do anything for you.
Experiencia negativa: Horrible all they care about is money 900-1200 for bloodwork?! And when I call just to ask about getting my dog in asap for being sick first thing they tell me is pricing. I didnt even ask about that yet. Ill take my baby somewhere they care to help save an animals life.
Good evening,
We work hard to be clear and transparent when emergency cases are being referred to our hospital or if a new client has called while on their way in to see us. That transparency includes letting people know about the average triage estimate for an emergency exam and starting diagnostics right away.
It is unfortunate that you took that transparency in a negative way.
We hope you were able to find your pet care and they are feeling better!
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Jason Clark treated my French Bulldog for a large eye ️ ulceration. We had excellent results and are so appreciative of the guidance and care that was provided during this stressful time. I highly recommend Dr. Clark’s eye vet services.
Thank you so much for leaving MVSES a 5 star review! We really appreciate you taking time to help celebrate the wonderful work that Dr. Clark does! We hope your Frenchie continues to do well.
Experiencia negativa: My Mom took her diabetic yorkie to this vet ER several weeks ago because her regular vet was not open. They charged her $5100.00 as soon as she walked in and the dog had not even seen the vet to determine diagnosis, treatment or length of stay if warranted so how did they know what to charge. The dog stayed for a few days to get his sugar regulated and you should have seen the final bill and what they charged for! Ridiculous! All said and done it was nearly $6000.00. I would avoid this vet ER at any cost--no pun intended.
Good Afternoon,
It appears as though there may be some misunderstanding on the care your mother's pet received, the triage estimate and diagnostics, and the hospitalization estimate. All of which were approved and signed during Bubba's care.
We understand and appreciate your efforts in advocating for your mother and Bubba, especially while so far away. Treatment during Diabetic Ketoacidosis in the ICU for 5 days can be incredibly challenging, and we are so happy that Bubba was able to pull through again.
If you would like to discuss specific concerns that you are frustrated about, please reach out to [email protected] and we will have a member from the emergency services management call you.
Experiencia fantástica: We can’t say enough about Dr Taylor Marshall and the staff at Met Emergency Hosp - we experienced kindness on the phone, at the check in desk & triage area and especially with Dr Marshall herself! Dr Marshall even called us a few hours after our visit to make sure our cat, Gerald, got his new insulin medication without any problems - that’s above and beyond service. God Bless all of you for being there for us and our pets!
Thank you so much for writing us a 5-star review! We will make sure Dr. Marshall sees your kind message! We hope Gerald is doing great at home!
Experiencia fantástica: The absolute best emergency vet! My cat’s insulin accidentally got put in the freezer and was unable to be used. They saw us right away and were able to give us a new insulin prescription for him. I could not recommend this service enough!
Thank you for taking the time to write us a 5-star review! We really appreciate it!
Hopefully Gerald is back on his regularly scheduled dose and feeling good!
Experiencia negativa: Money hungry, questionable billing practices and insensitive employees. I was told the estimate for my dog’s care would be $900–$1200, and that they would call me before going over that. They had me sign a tablet and stated it was just consent for them to treat my dog. The person that did the intake with my dog told me they don’t foresee it even being close to the deposit amount since it was stitching him back up. They ended up charging me $1225.40 with no call, no approval, just charged. I waited in my car for over 2.5 hours before being told to drop my dog off, even though I was told only one person was in front of me. Now, I understand, there may be other emergencies that come in. I can promise you, after sitting in the parking lot for 2.5 hours waiting that there were no emergencies that came in. When I brought my dog in after waiting, I was told it would take another 1–2 hours and my dog should be ready to be picked up. I ended up receiving an update at 130 pm (he was dropped off at 1230 pm. Also, no charges were mentioned) and was going over everything I told the person at intake. This conversation was interrupted and was told I would be called back right away. I received a call five hours later and was told discharge would take another minute (a minute to this clinic means another hour), but thanked me so much for my patience. When I arrive, the receptionist told me it was $324 and asked for my payment. I told him that I already paid the deposit, which is when he told me that it was additional. Again, no one called me. No one told me anything. I told him this very calmly in which he printed off a page and said “well you agreed to it” and showed me where I signed. I told him that I was given an iPad to sign but was not shown what I was signing and told it was for consent to give treatment, not for that amount of money. (Yes, I learned a very valuable lesson about reading every small detail and not trusting word of mouth.) I waited over 40 minutes to talk to the vet about the bill because I didn’t understand why it was so high & his initial surgery was only $450 with meds included. I was told the vet would be there. Never came out. At that point, my dog had been through enough and I had found a way to pay. When I paid, the receptionist was rude & kept stating that fact that they were busy — that’s why someone didn’t call me. I 100% understood until that point. As a business, you have an obligation to do what you say you are going to do, especially when I told them this is an unforeseen situation and I needed to know beforehand. She gave me the receipt, I was charged not once but twice for an ecollar. 730 pm comes around, bill had been paid for more than 15 minutes & was told they were getting his stuff ready, & he hadn’t been discharged, even though they told me he was ready over an hour & a half ago. Regarding the ecollars that were priced almost to $50, I made them take both off immediately since I have them at home. However, this says two very important things: this place is money hungry and will try to get away with overcharging. Ecollars are $15-20 regularly. This place clearly has a pattern of vague pricing, poor communication, and questionable billing practices from not only my experience but many others as well. I will not be returning, and I suggest anyone coming here get everything in writing, ask for updates frequently, and double-check every line of your invoice. Scratchpay and care credit are not always viable options for people. If you all care so much about pets like you claim you do, hire more compassionate people, offer flexible payment plans in house, take time to understand situations. UPDATE: photos of my dogs stitches are attached. This is what cost me $1200? Even the person at intake said staples should be used given the area. I asked the vet what I could do to ensure this doesn’t happen. The answer was “keep the cone on” which has been on at all times. He doesn’t play, run or jump. So now what? I have to pay you all or some else another $1200 to fix another vets mistake?
Ms McCarthy,
We are sorry to hear you had a negative experience with your pet's care after he chewed out his sutures from a former procedure. We understand your frustration regarding the long wait time you experienced.
To provide some context, the Saturday morning after the 4th of July is an extremely busy time in a veterinary ER. In addition to the hospitalized pets receiving 24-hour care, our team triaged over 60 new incoming patients that Saturday. With such a high volume of patients to manage, priorities can change rapidly.
While we strive to update clients on wait times for stable pets, it is not always feasible in a busy emergency room to make calls without further extending wait times for all patients. We regret that we couldn't provide a strict timeline for your pet's care and appreciate pet owners' understanding that initial estimations may change, especially for stable pets.
We will discuss with our team how to better ensure clients understand the triage care estimate they are signing and allow more time for their questions. Thank you for bringing this communication concern to our attention.
Regarding the double charge for the e-collar, we apologize for this oversight. We have some billing triggers bundled with procedures and we are working out protocols to ensure we catch these automatic charges. We are glad our client care team was able to resolve this for you and remove the charge.
If you would like to speak with a member of our management team, please email us at [email protected] with the best times to reach you, and we will be in touch.
Experiencia negativa: This place is terrible. We spent 4 hours there getting our cat looked at because she could not breathe well and they only said she might have a hairball stuck. Charged us $1330 only to find out two days later when she had a scheduled check up with her vet that she had a respiratory infection. Some antibiotics and a $200 charge for this service was welcoming. We will never goto Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists again. Nothing about this place in their service makes them specialists.
Mr. Lawrence,
We are frustrated to hear your concerns. We do not have a pet on our schedule under your name. If you're interested in receiving feedback, please email us at [email protected] with your pet's name and the name of the person listed as the contact person and we will review your case.
Thank you
Experiencia negativa: The service and people were nice BUT…. Even discount tire doesn’t make you pay 800 dollars for tires up front. A regular er for people doesn’t make you pay but 50 dollars for self pay deposit to get seen. There needs to be a better way especially since you have people driving 45 minutes to see you.
We are sorry to hear that you are frustrated with the expenses associated with 24 hour specialty and emergency veterinary care.
When our nursing team triages a patient, every client is given an estimate so they may begin care on their pets. Clients are able to decline that estimate or request an exam only without beginning any care. We apologize if that was not well explained to you in the triage process.
Also, MVSES accepts CareCredit and Scratchpay if clients need financing help for care. If you need more information on those options, or would like to speak further about your concerns, please reach out to us at [email protected].
Experiencia fantástica: I cannot say enough kind words about this emergency vet. The first we called (the other one on this side of town) was extremely rude and seemed to only care about if we had the money for them to even see our sick puppy. We then came to metropolitan and were greeted with friendly staff who really seemed to care just as much as we did about our sweet fur baby. Dr. Nord was very informative and got him taken care of very quickly. If an emergent situation arises again we will be coming back!
Thank you so much for writing us a 5-star review! We are so happy that your sweet puppy responded so well to treatment and is doing great! We will make sure Dr. Nord sees your kind message!
From serious condition in the ICU to being back in his family's arms - it couldn't make us happier to see!
We hope you never encounter an emergency again, but if you do, MVSES will be here for you!
Experiencia fantástica: When our hometown emergency vet turned down our sweet Milo because they were full and had no openings, we drove the two hours to Louisville to save his life…and save his life they did! Milo was near death when we arrived there and within less than 20 minutes they had diagnosed him (a complete urinary blockage), and began the treatment he needed. The doctors and staff were very courteous and helpful at all times. We received phone calls twice a day durning his three day stay, as well as being treated wonderfully if we would call to check on him additional time. They did a great job educating us as to what the near future might look like, and in fact they were exactly right. He ended up having surgery (here locally) to hopefully permanently correct the problem. We have no doubt that, without Metropolitan, we would no longer have Milo with us and our lives would be a whole lot more empty. Five stars to this amazing emergency clinic!
Thank you for writing us an update on Milo, and giving MVSES a 5-Star review! It's so great to see how our patients do after they've been discharged!
I have passed your really kind message to the doctors who cared for Milo when he was hospitalized with us!
We hope Milo continues to do well!
Experiencia fantástica: Our 1 year old Shihtzu had to have surgery to remove his left eye after an accident and metro vet took excellent care of him. And you get a 5% military discount so that’s an added bonus! Thanks for taking such good care of our boy! He’s healing great and back to his normal sweet self!
Thank you for writing us a 5-star review! We are so happy to hear that Boomer is healing well after a scary day! Give him our love!
Experiencia fantástica: I previously left a very negative review after a bad experience, but I’m grateful to say that I truly feel Metro takes these reviews and feedback seriously. I have been here many, many times over the past few months with my boy Mr. Mailbox, who has unfortunately passed. The care he received by the folks who work here was nothing short of incredible. They treated him like their own, and I feel peace knowing that everything that could have been done, was.
First, please let us express our condolences again on your loss of Mr. Mailbox. That handsome orange boy was clearly a very loved part of your family.
Thank you for taking the time to write us a 5- star review. We work hard every day to not only practice a gold standard level of care with our medicine, but to also improve every day in how we can best care for our clients in our community.
Take Care
Experiencia negativa: I have a dog that had surgery here on 5/16. The dog ended up with aspiration pneumonia, which is a known complication of surgery. This happened 1.5 weeks after surgery. Between discharge and him developing pneumonia, I received not a single follow up call. I called them to let them know and ask if I should bring him in early for a recheck. Even then, the surgeon never called. I was told by a receptionist to wait for the scheduled appointment the next week. The dog has since passed away. Editing to add: this surgeon still has not called to offer condolences or talk about what went wrong.
Please accept our condolences on your loss of Cooper. Losing a part of the family is devastating.
We have tried to call you, but your voicemail is full and we are unable to leave a message.
If you would like to speak with his surgeon, please email us at [email protected] with the best phone number and time to reach out to you, so we can better schedule a phone call.
Experiencia positiva: This hospital did save my dogs life I feel like when he came down with HGE. There are a couple of things though that I highly didn’t appreciate. He had clearly been laying in his own urine after having an accident and was not properly cleaned. He had diarrhea still on his behind that was dried up. He has razor burns from having to be shaved which is avoidable. The medical work was fantastic and the price was understandable. Allowing him to lay around in his own filth while being ill and him receiving razor burn is really uncalled for, especially because what clients pay out of pocket. I waited an hour in the lobby for him and honestly thought he was getting cleaned up and everything for me. The staff was great and polite and helpful. The doctor did call and apologize about the situation which I appreciate, just still really upsetting to picture him like that. Still want to give 4 stars and would recommend this hospital to all.
Miranda Zetko,
We hope that Ozzy is continuing to recover well at home!
We again apologize that he ended up a bit stinky. When battling diarrhea and leaking fluids while on IVs, we end up giving a lot of "spot baths" with waterless shampoo to keep patients as clean as we can. Unfortunately, we can't always give dogs, especially big fluffy guys like Ozzy, full baths during hospitalization. We do our best to keep potty pads and absorptive bedding swapped out frequently and to spot clean them as we see messes.
We are going to assess our clipper blades and see which need repair or replacement. Thank you for bringing his skin irritation to our attention.
If we can help you with any other concerns, please call us or email us at [email protected] and we are happy to help!
Experiencia fantástica: They took amazing care of our kitten. Every single staff member we interacted with was wonderful. You can tell they truly have a heart for helping animals, and we are so thankful for them!
Thank you for leaving us a 5- star review and kind words! We hope that bean is recovering well at home!
Experiencia negativa: NEVER GO HERE THIS PLACE IS A JOKE . I wouldn't trust them with a goldfish . This place is completely uncaring,Irresponsible money hungry . For a emergency vet they truly do NOT care about the pets you bring in. They see a money sign and that it. If you look like you can't pay. They are going to do the bare minimum. Had to pay $800 upfront front . As long as you Take care of my baby. Then they say he's gonna not make it tonigh and they won't do surgery on him.. they bring him back into the room he has saline dripping out of his nose.. They say We can go ahead and let him go peacefully. I tell them No I'll take him home and take him back to my vet in the morning. And if he does die he will be at home and not on a cold metal table . Well your gonna need to sign discharge papers saying your refusing service. Okay no problem.they say we're going to take out his IV. I tell them No you all didn't put it in his vet did He came in with an IV in his arm and we're going there in the morning. Well we're going to call and make sure you all go in the morning. Okay that's fine. Well I'll be back for you to sign refusing services well 4 hours later as we're waiting to be discharge because they're so busy.. and yes we keep going out there asking how much longer . You just have to wait .. then magically they had time .They had to come in and then because he had to be put down . I guess if they figured if they waited long enough he would go there. That they could make more money . We Tell them we wanted him cremated woth 3 paw prints .They came in and gave us a refund because we overpaid. A few days later they call and leave a voicemail and they need more money. They haven't started the cremation yet. I asked them do you still have him. I'm not sure let me check. I'm not sure where he's at I'm on hold for a while. They get back on and said they havent started yet . There is still a payment due . I ask how did I get a refund becau se I over paid. Plus they said they gave us a discount . She says Things normally don't turn out like this these were usually circumstances. But now I still owe. So I paid $500 more . I tell them Of course I had to pay it to get get my dog back . Well then it was going to take a few days then they was going to ship him. Well it's been over a week still nothing I called . No still not ready a few more days . A week later I called well not yet it normally takes about 2 weeks I asked can I just come pick him up . I get a Yea that's fine he's here waiting. Okay how long has he been there .. I get his ashes back finally. Well it took a few months for me to want to open it and look at him. WHY DOES IT LOOK LIKE SEA SHELLS . I've had other pets cremated and NEVER have they looked like this . Of course it was at a different place . Anyone I asked said they had never seen that before. Do I even have my baby probably not I don't know at this point . I can only hope I have him . They just want money they could care less about your family member. This place is a joke never go here at all. The first picture is the cremation done at this place . The second picture is a cremation done at another place. The last picture is a side by side comparison. So this just doesn't seem right to me.
Experiencia fantástica: This was not our first experience with Metropolitain. Because of the nature of my dog's situation we started at another (highly recommended) Emergency service, not realizing that our dog was so ill she may need hospitalization (which the other service did not provide). After the available tests were run it was recommended that we come to Metro IMMEDIATELY. Our dogs situation was more grim than we knew. We had an estimate from the other service before we got to Metropolitian, so we knew the possible cost. Stella (our dog) was a STAT case so we were seen immediately, and they started to evaulate her and her illness. Unfortunately, she was in liver failure. The staff was honest with us that even if we took all the measures and spent tens of thousands of dollars they were not sure the outcome would be any different. I appreciated their frank honesty (as hard as it is to hear about your precious pet) and we made arrangements for her to cross the rainbow bridge. The staff was super kind and caring as we said our goodbyes. I will always recommend Metropolitian for anyone who needs emergency service or pet hospitilization.
McMahan Family,
Thank you so much for leaving us a kind review. We understand how difficult it is to make those very hard decisions for our pets, and we are happy to hear our team made a tough day as comfortable as possible.
Please accept our deepest condolences on your loss of Stella. If you need anything from the MVSES team, please give us a call.
Take Care,
MVSES
Experiencia fantástica: Our rescue doodle, Milo, needed to have multiple teeth extracted. Our Lexington-based veterinary practice recommended Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists and we could not have been more satisfied with the service, cost, and compassionate care they offered. Dr. Odenweller walked us through the procedure before Milo went back, called during the operation with updates, and followed-up post op. Additionally, the office team and vet techs were incredibly kind. We can’t thank the Metropolitan team enough for their high quality care and will refer others to them going forward!
Thank you for the 5 star review! We are so thrilled that you had a great experience with our dentistry team and Dr. Odenweller! We hope Milo is feeling great and continues to do well!
Experiencia negativa: AVOID!! Absolute crooks! Our labrador has had 2 intestinal blockage surgeries in the last year, so late last night she suddenly began showing the exact same symptoms. Her demeanor changed completely, began shivering, excessive salivating, panting for air, etc. We reluctantly called this place trying to get ahead of any potential suffering/surgery. We were advised to immediately bring her in. I told the man I was leaving in 5 minutes, & was informed to call upon arrival. I did call and speak to the same man, whom told me to wait in my car for them to get ready for triage. There was not a single customer and/or dog in the rather large lobby--but my dog just seemed happy to walk around the building anyways. THIRTY minutes later we were allowed to enter. I suppose this was a COVID policy they wanted to continue so the 3 employees in the empty lobby could continue to scroll their phones as desired… A lady says they will run some tests & they will call me in an hour/hour & a half. I am told they would need a deposit of $900. We finally get a call FOUR hours later saying they can see a potential foreign matter, & want another $900 deposit to continue observation. We reluctantly pay, & 4 hours in we are down $1800! This doctor says they’ll do another round of tests 1st thing in the morning and call us with the results. I wait EIGHT hours without notification and decide to call for an update. The receptionist says they are way behind & the doctor will call me when they’re caught up. I wait another 2 hours before I have to call again. The same receptionist answers & sighs when I politely ask for an update (mind you, it’s been 14 hours & we don’t know if she needs a surgery or not). Dr. Smith tells me he can't see any blockage & she just has a UTI; but he also wants to feed her again a couple hours later and we’d most likely get her back around 4:30. He repeatedly refers to our dog as he/male—even though our dog has a very obvious female name with her attached bright purple collar/leash. I call at 430 on the dot, & am told we can come get her. We leave immediately, but again we have to wait another 30 minutes to get our dog back. We were actually thinking we might get some of our money back, but who were we kidding?! I am told I owe another $550—a total of $2350—for a URINARY TRACT INFECTION. If you Google the average cost of this infection, it’s $100-200…. She actually had an intestinal blockage surgery at another location in December for a total of $2900! Another doctor comes out and reads (verbatim) with her head down the care instructions we already had printed out 20 minutes ago. This entire experience was a complete joke and truly sad. Not one compassionate worker in the entire building. Not a single thanks, or sorry, or anything---just credit card swipes. Every previous review echoed our experience here. I have no clue how their rating is 3.9 outside of false positives from staff acquaintances. We have filed a complaint with the attorney general & are just truly thankful this experience is over, & our dog survived their care.
Mr. Richardson,
It is unfortunate to hear that you are frustrated with the frequency of updates, and expenses associated with Ember's hospitalization.
First, we hope that Ember continues to pass the material that was present in her stomach, and that she is more comfortable now, along with her finding some relief from her urinary tract infection after starting antibiotics.
Secondly, if you would like our team to review Ember's records and reach out to discuss her care plan with you, we are happy to provide some more details and help gap some of the communication concerns you have. If you are interested in having Ember's care reviewed y our team, please reach out to us at [email protected] with the best way to reach you.
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.
Experiencia negativa: 200 dollar (rounded up) diagnostic fee, minimum 800 dollar triage, which does not include treating your pet. Triage covers seeing the animal, pain management, and associated things such as antibiotics. Wound care, or surgery is extra on top of the "triage fees". This "emergency" vet had us waiting almost an hour with a bleeding animal, just to seemingly be asked, "how much is your love for your pet worth?" Recomended by our vet or not I would hate to actually show up here with an immediate, life threatening injury.
Good Morning,
We are sorry to hear that you were frustrated with the expenses of emergency care. If you would like a staff member to reach out to you, please send us an email with your name and your pet's name, as well as the best way to reach you to [email protected].
Experiencia negativa: My dog couldn’t stand up and was in pain and they told me sit in my car with him since he was “stable.” after over a HOUR I walked in to cancel it and take him somewhere else. There were 4 of 5 people just standing around the front desk. They looked shocked that I came in and I walked out and ran into OTHER angry client pitched in with complaints. Do better for animals if your job is caring for them. Luckily, my dog is doing okay and we came down the road and a vet came out asap!!
Good Morning,
We are sorry to hear that you had a poor experience with an 1 hour wait time for our emergency services. While we do our best to triage pets as thoroughly and efficiently as possible, some pets that do not have life threatening emergencies will unfortunately encounter longer wait times.
We would like you to understand that while we have a fully staffed client care team at the reception desks, those team members are not trained to provide medical care to patients. We understand it may be frustrating when you are worried about your pet to see staff that seem available, so we wanted to make sure that we clarified that those team members are not nursing staff.
We are relieved to hear that your dog is doing well. If you would like a member from management to reach out to you to discuss your experience, please send us an email to [email protected] with the best number and time to reach you.
Experiencia fantástica: My sweet, almost 4yr old, Shih Tzu, Dex has always been a healthy dog! He’s spunky, energetic, and full of personality. You can imagine my surprise when I woke up one morning to find him lethargic, running a fever, shivering and diarrhea. We took him to a local emergency vet who released him the next day. Our main vet saw him right away and immediately referred us to Metro. His white blood cell count was extremely low. The staff at Metro were amazing. From the first phone call all the way to saying Goodbye! They worked diligently to help my boy. Dr. Owens was fantastic. She took the time to answer my 900 questions and was reassuring. His main tech, Madge…let me tell you! LOVE this sweet lady! Compassionate, caring, and kind. She not only made us aware of the extra love she gave Dex but she was so genuine and nurturing with him. I will forever be grateful for all of them making our “nightmare” easier to navigate and handle.
Ms. Fenwick,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write us a review of your experience at Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Service! It really means a lot to our team to hear a recap of your journey and to be appreciated for their hard work and dedication. We will make sure our wonderful Madge sees your kind works!
We hope that Dex is feeling better as we wait to get all of his testing back. Give him some love from us!
Experiencia negativa: Unless you want the Er vets to send you hime with the wrong dosage of medication and Alamo kill your dog i wouldn’t recommend this place. Also once I mentioned I was getting help from an organization they started treating me way different and I didn’t appreciate that at all. The nurses that took my pup back and the men upfront were extremely friendly and nice but when it comes to the ER doctors that work the night shift I 100% do not recommend
Good Afternoon,
Can you please email us details about your visit to [email protected]. We would like to investigate your concerns further. Thank you
Experiencia positiva: Not a single time they told me was close to accurate throughout all my dealings with them. They did seemingly take care of my 1yo lab so not worthless. All things considered, I will not return to this establishment. Some complications after her spay led to some stomach problems, an this is what led us here.
Good Afternoon,
We apologize that our time projections were inaccurate during your pet's emergency care. We try our best to estimate the time it will take for each pet's care, while also caring for all of our hospitalized patients. Unfortunately, due to the nature of managing numerous animals during triages, hospitalization, and in-house procedures, time estimations need to have some flexibility. If you would like to discuss how we could have better communicated wait times, we ask that you reach out to us! Please send us an email to [email protected] with your name and the best number to reach you and we will be in touch!
We hope your lab is feeling better now!
Experiencia positiva: They took good and accurate care of our pooch. We were shocked of the costs. An MRI was going to cost more then mine did. $4000. The final bill was $800 total (we bypassed the MRI), which covered basic blood work and a few xrays. More than a persons doctor visit. We never met the vet, all communications were over the phone which was weird. They did their job, and were paid well. Everyone working there was kind. All in all, good service, high prices. (We went there because we were referred)
Mr. Maupin,
Thank you for sharing your experience with bringing Buddy to MVSES. We hope that he is comfortable at home and resting well.
We understand the costs associated with specialty care can be alarming, even more so when you are referred for sudden changes with your pets. We do our best to keep our prices reasonable while being able to operate a 24 hour facility offering specialty care. We do accept some financial assistance options, such as CareCredit and Scratch Pay to help clients manage the expenses of our care. We also encourage pet owners to speak with their primary care veterinarian and pet professionals about pet insurance.
Again, thank you for sharing your concerns, and we hope Buddy is feeling better today!
Experiencia negativa: I hope I never have to deal with this facility ever again and I will never ever recommend this place to anyone I know. I feel like they didn’t give all of our options when we brought our dog in, and they ended up telling us the option they pushed on us wasn’t even necessary. I feel like they cause unnecessary harm and extra pain and trauma on our senior dog! We ultimately had to put our dog down within a week of treatment here (not that I’m blaming this on their treatment) but I do not feel like she would have been in as much pain her final week if it wasn’t for this place! I wish we would have taken our girl literally anywhere else! I called multiple times after with some follow up questions about medication and the receptionist made it seem like such an inconvenience! Do NOT recommend! These people are not animal lovers they are money lovers!
Parrish family,
First, please accept our condolences on your loss of Pippin. We understand that making tough decisions after her trauma was a very difficult experience for your family. We are very sorry to hear that you feel as though the medical care provided caused additional pain to Pippin. We assure you that we never, under any circumstance, want our patients to be in pain.
If you would like to tell us more about your experience, please send us an email to [email protected] with the best way and time to reach you, and a member of management will be in touch.
Take Care,
MVSES team
Experiencia fantástica: I was really quite scared to have my cat, Murphy's, teeth done. His regular dentist would not do it due to his history of stroke and heart issues. After he lost a tooth, I took him to Blue Pearl who treated him but let me know that Metropolitan had a dental specialist. I made an appointment and then backed out, but after talking with Murphy's cardiologist, went ahead. Dr. Odenweller was very patient, answering questions, asking pertinent questions, and never making me feel as if he was in a hurry or that I was being pressured into what (and I expected this) was an expensive procedure. Take home instructions were very specific. And Murphy seems great today (considering what he went through), the day after, despite having 15 teeth pulled. I am so thankful that he had the skill to take care of Murphy who, hopefully, will have less pain in the future because what was done. I was also appreciative of being told I could call with questions or concerns 24/7 and they would get answers for me. The only negative I had was that I thought Murphy's surgery was in the morning and by noon I was frantic at not hearing anything thinking he had probably passed away and they were reluctant to give me the bad news. When I called, however, they checked and told me that his dental work had just started.
Good morning Melissa,
Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your journey with choosing specialized care at MVSES, and leaving us a 5 star review!
We are taking into consideration your note that you weren't sure at which time we would be starting the procedure on Murphy, and we'll try to be more clear with our clients in the future! We understand that every moment when our pet's aren't with us can be scary!
We hope Murphy is continuing to heal well!
Experiencia fantástica: Metro did a great job with my pup Winnie. The place was clean. The reception team was polite and very friendly during arrival. Dr Royals, and his team were, professional, honest and did a great job. He gave me several options and talked me through all of them and made me feel confident about what was best for me, the owner and my pup. The cost was more than fair and for how good a job they did, I would definitely come back if I had any complications or follow ups.
Mr. Headley,
Thank you so much for the 5-star review! We are so happy to hear that our team provided you and Winnie with our gold standard of care! We hope Winnie heals up beautifully!
Experiencia negativa: I brought my cat here who had taken a severe decline in a matter of minutes this morning. I was told that I would speak to someone within 45 mins of him being taken back. After an hour of no word, I asked an update and was told we were waiting on labs and the vet wanted to perform an ultrasound. Another two hours passed and when I went back up to the desk, a younger girl with short hair and glasses was very annoyed that I am asking for an update and proceeded to inform me more serious cases had come in and taken precedence. I am very understanding of this because I work in healthcare in an ER setting and absolutely know that life threatening cases take precedent. However, when an owner is sitting here for over three hours with no word, have the common decency to just give updates and not be annoyed when concerned owners ask to know what’s going on. I have no idea if my cat is in serious condition or not and so just something would be nice. Customer service needs to be better and maybe you wouldn’t have to get so annoyed with customers if you could just take 60 seconds to tell an owner that he’s doing okay and just still waiting. But let me tell you, they had no problem rushing to get my almost $1000 deposit. So mind blowing.
Good Morning, Lauren.
We are sorry to hear that a team member did not properly communicate the status of your pet through the diagnostic process. If you would like our client care service lead to reach out to you, please send us a note to [email protected] with the best number and time to get in touch.
We hope that Trout is feeling better this morning!
Experiencia negativa: Initially started out fine. Then a primary doctor asked repeatedly for more money, larger deposit. It is life altering expensive. Every bit of savings. Two days, $3400+ later my dog had a relapse. Tried to phone from 12a-8am. I know there are vets and vet techs there. I had camped out there for 2 days when my dog was hospitalized. Nobody would talk to me, help me or call me back. They had my $ why should they? They tested him for several things that were not necessary. Never again. I will go anywhere else. Gouging is not appreciated. Making my pet a caring priority is. That Is not what happened. I wouldn't take my animal there if they had a paper cut. ***Addendum*** You inserted a catheter in my dog that injured him. He had massive bleeding 3 days ago. And it was because of what happened there and the carelessness. You've cost me even more money at my regular vet and you hurt my animal. I don't have any recourse and you'll find a way to Justify this, but you definitely caused injury to my sweet dog and I'm letting everyone know.
Ms. Tedescucci,
We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the expenses related to Jesse's care and the lapse of communication while she was hospitalized.
We can assure you that we did not do any unnecessary testing. We do the best of our ability to diagnose and treat every animal that we see, and to stay within the owner's estimate along the way.

Experiencia negativa: I don’t know what has changed at Metro we have used them 3 times before with great experiences. However, after our last visit dog had a cancerous mass removed. Their customer service has gone down hill. From my first phone call to schedule the appointment the receptionist was not friendly and just a lack of information has been provided to us regarding our dog, her condition and about procedure.
Thank you for bringing your frustrations to our attention. We are reviewing the team members who were involved in Bella's care and will use this notice to help them grow in their communication skills.

Experiencia fantástica: Update: My dachshund had luxating patella surgery yesterday with Dr. Neat. Dr. Neat took his time explaining options. I chose to have surgery and they took great care of him. The techs and folks at the front desk were amazing!! I pray my baby will be back to running and playing soon. Listen!! My Baby is up and running and going for long walks. His surgeon and the staff were amazing! He loves Dr. Neat and Dr. Neat had to show me that I was the one stressed out and not my dog. My dog had chicken and rice and was spoiled while there. I would not hesitate to bring my Bosey back!
Baltimore family,
Thank you so much for leaving us a review after Boseman had surgery with Dr. Neat! We are thrilled that he did so well, and that you had a great experience. We hope he is recovering well and can return to his dachshund shenanigans soon!
Experiencia fantástica: Nobody wants to ever be in the position to take their pet to the emergency vet at 4am, but I am SO thankful for all of the staff that help save my dog’s life after an acute episode of aspiration pneumonia. The vets and all the support staff were beyond helpful and truly some of the best people I hope to never see again. I’ll also say, while it hurts to pay what an e-vet trip is worth, my total bill was maybe 60% of what I expected. Thank you, Metro!
Ms. Petit,
Thank you so much for the 5 star review!
We are so happy that your sweet boy recovered well! Your fast actions to have him seen by MVSES at 4am is an important part of his recovery story as well! We hope you never have to come see us for emergency care again, but if you do, we will always be here for you!
Experiencia fantástica: My little man (55lb dog) had surgery on a Friday at his regular vet to remove a blockage along with his spleen. Saturday evening he experienced complications and required immediate care. Metropolitan was professional with intake through discharge. Emergency care always comes with a premium cost - but I found these guys to be fair and responsible in the billing. A special shout out to Dr. Auten for her care of my man during his visit as well as her knowledge, direct communication of next steps and decision making in a critical situation. I will bring my animals here anytime without question in an emergency. Thank you!
Mr. DeJesus,
Thank you for leaving us a 5-star review! We hope that Dewey is feeling better!
Experiencia negativa: If I could give ZERO STARS I absolutely would. I came here because there was so many good “reviews”. I showed up and they took my cat back WITHOUT ME . Waited 1hr 45 minutes for the Dr told say there was not a “slam dunk” answer for why my cat is so sick. But they can give him nausea meds and he should be fine. I asked if it costed any extra and she said no it will be included so I only AGREED to nausea meds. then after I go to checkout I’m getting CHARGED 90 EXTRA DOLLARS. For a medicine I didn’t even CONSTENT FOR MY CAT TO HAVE. so in total I paid 990.51 cents for them to stand around and do absolutely nothing, I got treated poorly because I look so young for as tall as I am. And I still have a sick cat. This place never in a million years would I ever think this
Ms. Payne,
We're truly sorry to hear that your recent experience at MVSES didn't meet your expectations. Our priority is to deliver exceptional care for our patients and ensure our clients feel supported and well-informed, especially during pet emergencies.
It seems we may have fallen short in our communication with you, leading to some frustration. We'd like to address a few points to clarify what all happened during Gus's visit. It is important to us to understand how we can make things more transparent for our pet families.
In under two hours, Gus underwent a comprehensive evaluation, including chest and abdomen ultrasounds, blood work, in-house lab tests, radiographs, vital sign monitoring, and a thorough physical examination by the veterinarian. Despite this workup, we couldn't pinpoint a definitive cause for Gus's vomiting. While this can be good news, we understand it's also frustrating to lack a clear diagnosis, as diagnostic tests don't always reveal an obvious problem.
Regarding the outpatient care discussion and anti-nausea medication, it appears there was a misunderstanding. You had approved and singed a triage estimate of $900 - $1500, and the recommended injection was within that estimated range. It seems there was confusion about whether the medication cost was in addition to the initial deposit you paid versus included in the overall estimate. We apologize for this and are using your feedback to improve our team's clarity in similar discussions.
We want to assure you that we were actively evaluating and treating Gus during his visit, and we're concerned that you feel otherwise. If you'd like to discuss your experience further with a member of our team, please contact us at [email protected] with your preferred contact method, and we'll promptly get in touch.
Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommend. Our vet in Indiana referred us to them for the orthopedic surgery our dog needed for torn knee ligaments. We had an excellent experience and our fur baby had great care and surgical outcome. From the first visit and all follow up appointments, Dr. Graehler took the time to consult with us and explain X-rays, surgical options, recovery expectations and all the steps along the way. Staff were always friendly, responsive and efficient during office visits, and we received several post-op calls checking in our fur baby.
Ms. Centers,
Thank you for the 5- Star Review! We really appreciate your kind words! We hope Ringo continues to recover well and has a fun summer planned once he is fully off restricted exercise!
Experiencia fantástica: We had an emergency with our dog—he was choking and having trouble breathing. I called ahead, and they took him in immediately. Dr. Tesla and the team were caring, calm, and efficient. We’re back home now and feeling so relieved. Thank you all so much for your compassion and quick response.
Ms. Gondim,
Thank you for leaving us a 5- star review! We are so happy that Cafe was able to efficiently have his issue resolved and able to go home!
Experiencia fantástica: Nothing but amazing and wonderful things to say about this place, we unfortunately did have a bad outcome and had to let our fur baby go. In this process all the nursing staff, doctors, everyone in the office was so patient with us. Went over everything and even took us back to the ultrasound room to show us the scans. Would highly recommend this place, thank you guys for helping us through one of the toughest days we have had.
Thank you for sharing this special picture of you and Chloe! We really appreciate you submitting a 5-star review, especially while under such difficult circumstances. We are all pet lovers and know just how difficult it is to go through such an extremely difficult loss, and our thoughts are with you and your family.
