Experiencia fantástica: I took my senior dog to the hospital on Wednesday evening, March 4th 2026 knowing in my heart it would likely be the hardest visit we would ever have. From the moment we walked in, the entire staff treated us with kindness, compassion, and professionalism on one of the worst days of my life. I knew walking in that I would probably have to let my sweet baby go, but the staff especially Dr. Kramer handled everything with such empathy and care. They took the time to explain the process, answered my questions gently, and gave me the space and time I needed to say goodbye. Although it was an incredibly painful moment, the way the team treated both me and my dog made a difference I will never forget. They showed genuine compassion and respect during such a heartbreaking time. Thank you to Dr. Kramer and the entire staff for helping my beloved Bella pass peacefully and with dignity. I will always be grateful for the kindness you showed us.

Experiencia negativa: You can tell when a place is passionate about their work vs when they’re just in it for the money. Because we couldn’t pay $4k they made us pay $500 and sent us to another vet IF our cat lives through the night. What even…. Who does that?

Experiencia fantástica: The staff are beyond professional but also as caring as possible. I had to bring my girl in for the ER and unfortunately didnt get to bring her home. The staff truly went out of their way to make this difficult time as easy as possible for us. We were never rushed and allowed to spend as much time as we wanted with her. They explained everything well and if I have another emergency I will be bringing my pets here. I can't recommend them enough. Thank you guys for everything.

Experiencia fantástica: This is the best place to bring your baby, they showed my Luna girl compassion and care for 2 weeks while we dealt with finding out she had cancer, to her tumor rupturing, multiple bandage changes while we figured out what the options were, to her ultimately needing to be put to rest due to her health declining rapidly and suddenly today. I appreciate you guys more than you know and will always recommend this team. Thanks for helping my girls last moments be something I could treasure rather than something traumatic.

Experiencia fantástica: This is the best place to take your animals in an emergency. We've unfortunately had to come here a good dozen times at least with our many animals over the years and each time we are always met with kindness and compassion. The doctors are very informative about your animal's issues and will do what they can for them. This last time we had to put our baby girl down due to progressive heart disease and the staff was so sweet with us. My husband and I wish they offered primary vet care as we would bring our pets here for that in an instant. Just wish the location was closer as we live in Maryville and it's a pain to rush over here in an emergency but I am grateful this place exists regardless.

Experiencia fantástica: I’m so thankful for this place and their staff. We had a horrible event that left us with no choice but a humane euthanasia for our two dogs due to their injuries. The staff were exceptionally kind, understanding, and did not rush me in any way. They were clear and forthcoming about the cost, but handled it very professionally. If anyone needs emergent care, I recommend here.

Experiencia fantástica: We have received amazing help here from the front desk to the techs and doctors. Shelby, the tech/nurse that helped us today was over and beyond what anyone could ask. She was so kind and knew so much about Oncology. She helped me understand what was happening to Daisy and she had also assisted me the day before too, being so patient with me over the phone for a long time and answering all my questions. I wish I could remember the other names of the doctors and techs who have helped us so much over the last few days with Daisy in the hospital. Very knowledgeable and kind in a time of trauma and stress.

Experiencia fantástica: Not only was the process to be seen very efficient (human ERs could learn from them, perhaps), the entire staff from reception to the nurses and doctors were kind and compassionate, and clearly understand how much our dog means to us and how scared and anxious we are. Experiencia fantástica: I can’t recommend this place enough as an emergency clinic. About three years ago I had to put my 16 year-old dog down and they made that as painless as it could potentially be in a obviously terrible moment. Three years later with a new puppy and a bulbus paw about three times the size that it should be, and they take care of it quickly and were gentle and graceful about it. Kimberly was the one that helped me and I cannot thank her enough.

Experiencia fantástica: Yesterday our 11 year old sweet baby Belly Girl suddenly couldn’t walk and was crying out in pain. We decided to bring her in and from the moment we walked through the doors, the front staff was nothing but kind and the doctors rushed to make our girl comfortable. Unfortunately, Belly had a clot lodged caused by heart failure, and there was nothing we could do. AESC brought her to us and gave us uninterrupted time to say goodbye and let us take her home, where she can rest in our backyard. Everyone was so kind and respectful and gave us a paw print to take home. We couldn’t be more grateful for the love and care they gave us and Belly when we needed it most.

Experiencia negativa: I personally don't think there are any REAL VETS IN SO CALLED EMERGENCY ROOM. Took my baby and they went so far to put her on ventilator to help breath. As soon as I told them that I didn't have 5000 Dollar in my Pocket they told us they couldn't do nothing for her, and we were forced to euthanize her right then. If I had had the money they would have tried. It was my thoughts that a true emergency room would at least stabilize the animal. That's where my opinion about real vets come from, but I think a true caring vet would have at least tried everything they could to save animal. I guess money is really the most important thing. I think that if you NEED emergency help you better find a real emergency room with true caring vets. I think I order to have the word emergency in the name of your office it should be like human hospital and have to stabilize ( if possible) before they push you out or euthanize your pet. I wish to the Lord that I had had enough time to find anywhere else. This is the third time this place has turned us away in the past few years because we didn't have enough money at the moment.wish I could say they tried everything possible, I can only say I wish they had tried anything! I can't believe they allow her to continue to work there after the cruel and inhumane treatment my fur baby got in her last few minutes

Experiencia fantástica: We've only been to this animal hospital once, but our experience was top notch. Our 6 year old blue heeler got into a fight with another dog and had substantial laceration and puncture wounds. He was actively bleeding and dripping all over the waiting room floor when we arrived around 8pm. The staff got him examined and taken to the back very quickly. The doctor was very candid about the initial prognosis and cost estimate. We discussed the low likelihood of a fracture and that x-rays would only be done if absolutely necessary. The surgery took just over 2 hours, and the doctor explained in great detail what she found during the exam, how well the surgery went, and what we should do for post-op care. The total bill was lower than what we anticipated. The entire staff was phenomenal, and we will definitely use this emergency animal clinic again if the situation arises.

My former vet clinic performed a triple mastectomy on my older cat and when I expressed my concerns about her healing and the way the incisions looked I was ignored(they sent her home with gangrene and told me she was fine). I was left with no choice but to rush her here at this emergency clinic and they wasted no time. I was immediately assisted on arrival and they all took the extra time to care for my girl. Experiencia negativa: Reasons to avoid going here… 1. Absolute INCORRECT diagnosis (as proven by two separate vet clinics upon examination of charts and x-rays) 2. Encouraged the choice of either emergency surgery or euthanasia for said INCORRECT diagnosis 3. Highly recommended 48 hours of care, instead of transferring our pet to our vet (in the morning once they opened) 4. OVERCHARGED us for 36 hours of care when only 24 hours was agreed upon and quoted 5. The vet herself, at Animal Emergency, refused to talk to us when picking up at the 24 hour mark for further clarification on everything. 6. Their communication to us as the pet parents, to our regular vet, and to our referred surgeon was beyond unacceptable and unprofessional. …To sum this up, me and my family were put under major distress due to this facilities misdiagnosis, miscommunication and poor business practices. For anyone who is curious, our pet had a minor issue that was resolved and all is well to our knowledge and understanding at this time.

Experiencia fantástica: Without the amazing staff here, our baby wouldn’t be with us today. They acted immediately, understood the seriousness of the situation, and saved her life. They’re not just skilled practitioners. They are kind, sweet, and truly compassionate people. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my girl. They may say they’re “just doing their job,” but what they give goes far beyond that. On a personal note: Over the past few days, I’ve spent many hours here while my girl recovers. Please don’t be rude to the staff. I know as pet owners we’re often dealing with one of the scariest, most emotional moments of our lives. But the team here has emotions too, and they care deeply about every animal that comes through their doors. They are doing everything they can. Please show them the courtesy and respect they absolutely deserve.

Experiencia fantástica: The sweetest cat, Cleatus, unfortunately had to cross the rainbow bridge today. 16 years wasn't nearly enough time with him, but the vet Ashley Tuttle did all anyone could to help us during the entire process. She was professional throughout, but also compassionate and kind. This is a horrible time for anyone, losing a family member. She was very clear about what was happening, why, what to expect and do. He passed peacefully and we were allowed private time to say our goodbyes. As a cat mom, saying goodbye is hard, if there is any comfort to be had at their passing? You'll find it here.

Thank you for your kind words, Virginia. We're deeply sorry for your loss, and we're grateful that Dr. Ashley Tuttle could provide compassionate care for Cleatus during such a difficult time. We appreciate you sharing your experience with us.

Experiencia negativa: I brought my 3 year old doberman in late one night, as she was showing signs of abdominal discomfort and stress. I was worried it was bloat. They took her back, and quickly came out to reassure me that it was not bloat, but they had to send the x-rays off for a radiologist to read, as they don't have anyone there at night. After waiting 3 hrs. in the waiting room, they finally called me back to tell me that the x-rays were inconclusive, however they felt there was a suspicious area in her intestines, but it wasn't causing a blockage at the moment. Again I was reassured that it was not bloat. They wanted to give her pain medicine and fluids and wait until their ultrasound technician arrived in approx. 5 hrs. I asked if it would be okay if I took her home during that time and brought her back for the ultrasound or called my regular vet to see if they could get her in. They said that would be fine. I took her home and put her in my bed next to me. 3 hours later, she was gone. I thought she was just sleeping, but the entire time her body was failing. Every sign pointed to bloat. What I didn't realize, was that x-rays are often inconclusive and that an ultrasound is what really needs to be done. I don't understand how a 24hr. emergency vet, doesn't have someone on staff to do an ultrasound at all times. I paid over $1,000 for an exam, some x-rays, and pain medicine (which likely progressed her condition), and when I made them aware of what happened, they were very apoplectic, but never offered financial compensation for their error that cost my dog her life and our family so much grief.

Experiencia fantástica: I cannot say enough good things about this place and everyone who works there. I was a blubbering mess when I called, when I came in, the entire time I was there, and the entire staff treated me and my pup with care. Now that my pup is home and resting, I feel a little foolish for crying the entire time, but they never once made me feel like an inconvenience or that I was overreacting. 10000% would recommend. The front desk, the vet techs, the vet, EVERYONE was amazing and so so kind.

Experiencia negativa: If I Could Give This Place ZERO STARS I WOULD!. I called because I am concerned about my Kitten. THE SECRETARY WAS RUDE AND DISMISSIVE. She even cut me off mid-sentence! I asked to speak with someone else because she apparently doesn't feel like giving good customer service. I am currently on the line and has been waiting 6 mins to speak with someoneabout her behavior. After calling back to express my concerns about the experience about what I recently had .I spoke with someone I didn't get her name but she was very helpful and even gave me a reference. Thank you

Experiencia positiva: Last year we used this place for a burst anal gland and they were great. This year I brought my dog in after dental surgery complications stemming from pain med intolerance. The surgery performing vet suggested to administrator injection pain, anti nausea meds and anti diarrhea meds. They only administered anti nausea and gave me a bunch of oral medications against my wishes (my dog just had oral surgery and wasn't taking anything by mouth). I literally felt like they just wanted to hand pills and send me out the door. They do their exit instructions in the lobby which is very unprofessional and it's hard to concentrate on what is being said when it's chaos in the lobby around you. I highly recommend going to knoxville pet emergency clinic on Ailor instead of this facility. We wound up there the next day and it's a world of difference in care and attentiveness.

Experiencia fantástica: The care our pets have received at The Animal Emergency and Specialty Center is absolutely superior. We recently had an emergency with our sweet cat and he was promptly seen. The staff are always kind, compassionate, friendly and extremely well trained. The facility is spotlessly clean. We were kept updated on our cats status and treatment plan and were allowed to come visit during the wide time range of available hours. Upon discharge the center made an appointment for us with their Internal Medicine team in order to further investigate our cat’s health issue. We were given precise discharge instructions and medication for him. Our sweet fur baby is doing well and we are incredibly grateful to A.E.&S.C.!!!!

Experiencia fantástica: I am just amazed by the care, concern, and compassion from every staff member when I had to make the decision to let our sweet Luna go. Everyone was just amazing and they went above and beyond even after I went back to bring our sweet girl home to rest. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you all have done for my family to help us heal.

Experiencia fantástica: We were staying in Pigeon Forge and my pup had developed an abscess after being nipped by another dog. This place was about an hour away but they were fantastic at treating my baby. They were attentive to him and addressed my concerns. It also ended up being 400.00 cheaper than the original estimate. The facility was very clean and the staff was super friendly.

Experiencia fantástica: This animal clinic is literal lifesavers, saved my babies on two separate occasions! My male cat was having renal issues they worked quickly to help him and here recently we were turned away from our local vet for a minor emergency with our puppy who had got into something. The vet would not even see him at local clinic, we brought him straight here and two five minute test later we had answers!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Experiencia fantástica: We came in with a broken femur. They kept him overnight and performed surgery the following day. It was a long 6 weeks of recovery with big restrictions on his movement. We stuck with the plan and on his final check-in x-ray, the doctor gave us a thumbs up. They have great support staff and medical team. The facility is top notch.

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my Doodle in after multiple visits to our regular vet with completely unsatisfactory care. My dog had significantly declined and was in excruciating pain and we were desperate for him. We brought him in late at night and were taken right back and they did a very thorough evaluation and found the source of the his pain and ultimately it was metastatic cancer. The vet was very knowledgable, straightforward but compassionate, and laid out our options for us. We made the heartbreaking decision to put him to sleep that night and they made this extremely difficult and painful experience as gentle as it could be. I knew my dog was in good hands the entire time and they were so empathetic to us. Thank you for the compassionate end of life care you provided to my Jax.

Experiencia fantástica: After seeing the local vet, I drove almost 2 hrs to this clinic for a cat emergency. EVERYONE I encountered was on the spot, caring, understanding, and patient with my concerns and questions. Folks say it's expensive but they found a way to treat a urinary obstruction at a rate I could afford and immediately took the cat back with true concern and animal kindness. And it ended up being less than the quote! Yes, any ER is expensive but these folks went above and beyond and the cat is back to his loving and curious self! I would recommend this place over and over! Truly a good experience during a stressful time. Thank you, guys!

Experiencia fantástica: Their entire staff was kind and compassionate while taking care of Maggie for several days. The doctor took the time to explain all of our options and walked us through each step of euthanasia, giving us as much time as we wanted with Maggie both before and after she was gone. We have been to other emergency vets in Knoxville and this one is on another level with their care!

Experiencia fantástica: Last week we had to take our sweet girl, Arlo, here after she lost the use of her back legs. We went to a normal vet hours prior with a laundry list of medicine and no real answers. As the day went on, and her situation worsened, we knew we needed to act quickly. I had never been to an emergency vet before and had no idea what to expect. The team at AE&SC of Knox worked urgently, kept me updated, provided up front cost, and treated me and my girl with profound levels of compassion. Unfortunately, they couldn’t save my girl but I never had to doubt that she was in the best hands. They made one of my worst nights just a little easier by being professional and kind.

Experiencia negativa: Kind of a scam. Was told to call what is essentially a teledoc with a $90 charge, only to then have to pay another $190 at the ER anyway. Was quoted one price and then had an extra shot snuck on at the end. They explained to be part of the treatment I had opted for and then said it was an extra I agreed to. The vet had to consult a specialist to decide the best thing to start with for possible antifreeze ingestion was an ethylene glycol test. Even them it took them so long to get to that point that they were outside the window to do the confirmation. Very disappointed, would not recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: We’ve had to bring our cat twice here now after he ate something he shouldn’t have. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at this facility. They are clear about wait times, cost, and care plans. And they absolutely love animals. I feel like they genuinely love my cat; they don’t seem completely depleted by their clearly exhausting jobs! Hopefully I don’t have to see them again anytime soon, but if I do, I know I’ll trust them to handle it!

Experiencia negativa: Took our dog and she was misdiagnosed! She had a reaction to a bee sting and they treated her for a bad back! At first said it was broken and wanted to admit her. After finding out we did not have that kind of money her diagnosis changed! Will NEVER use this place again!

Experiencia negativa: If I could give this place a -100!!! Do not take any living breathing thing to this place they will bleed you dry!!! my poor daddy that’s on a fixed income took his dog here Saturday that was hit by a DoorDash driver. This dog is like my dad‘s baby. He was bleeding out. My dad can barely walk and is legally blind his health isn’t the best And he rushes him into this hospital. Mind you we live an hour away the whole time he’s bleeding out and my dad‘s trying to keep pressure on it. I cannot explain to you the amount of blood this baby has already lost. He gets there and Tells him he only has $300 that he’s working with if they could please help him. They said no it’s going to be more than 300 so they let him sit out in the lobby with his baby bleeding out because they weren’t gonna take him back without knowing they had the $800 so I took my rent money and helped my dad pay for it So they could at least take him back and stop the bleeding. They charged him $800 to wrap it up, Sent him home with with an anabiotic that he didn’t need. they told him it was gonna have to be amputated that can cost anywhere from $3000-$5000. They wasn’t for sure yet to try and get a loan for as high as you can!!! My dad didn’t even have $800 so I had to help him pay for it. So today we take my dad’s dog to the vet and the dog should’ve never had his leg wrapped in the first place. They unwrapped his leg and the smell and infection has already started to set in because they wrapped it. The antibiotics that they put him on is not doing anything. The dog’s leg absolutely does NOT need amputated this place should be ashamed of themselves taking advantage of someone in such a vulnerable state is disgusting. There is a special place in the afterlife for these people and I firmly believe that. Disgusting!

Experiencia positiva: Not the best experience here to be honest. I went in with my 16 year old cat at 1am knowing that I was most likely having to put him down. The vet tech and receptionist were very kind and caring and seemed to do a great job. They then brought in a price sheet showing the different options for cremation or getting the body back. I picked the option that I think was $225, which was paw print, urn and ashes. She then brought in the bill which was over $500. That was just for the euthanasia and cremation, (I just had another pet put to sleep at a clinic for $125 for the exact same service......). I get it is an emergency clinic and expected to pay a little more, but I feel like it was shady showing my one price and then hitting me with another. But whatever I paid because I didn't really have much choice, plus I was exhausted and devastated about my cat. Then the Vet comes in, does not introduce herself, simply says I will give her a shot for to put her to sleep, then another shot to give her the euthanasia. My cat was a boy, I feel like the bare minimum would have been to at least find out if your patient was a boy or girl when doing something as sensitive as this. I could of got over her cold attitude but that was crazy not at least knowing the sex. Then she gives him the shots one after the other without even waiting for him to go to sleep. Needless to say I will not be using them again. Horrible experience to say the least. I am at least hoping I get the remains back soon...... Edit: I received a call from the manager I believe who addressed my concerns. She agreed that the care was not up to the standard and seemed genuine. After talking with her I believe that the care my cat received was an exception and not how they normally do things. After speaking with her I would give them another chance if I ever have another pet emergency.

Experiencia negativa: I arrived at 10:45 a.m. with my dog for a suspected UTI. I brought a fresh, clean-catch urine sample I collected in the parking lot in a clean glass container. When I walked up to the counter to sign in, I was told to hold onto the sample even though it should be refrigerated immediately to remain viable. We sat for nearly an hour with no updates. Daisy was clearly in discomfort, so I kept taking her outside for relief. Around 11:45 a.m., I went to the desk and asked if I could get an estimated time. The staff member, without so much as a smile, said: “We’re an ER clinic. We take our clients according to urgency. We had a bear attack come in and everyone is working on that dog.” I understand emergencies happen, but no communication unless I asked was unacceptable. We finally got called back around 12:45 p.m., nearly two hours after arrival. A tech briefly popped in and said someone would be with us in a few minutes. I asked if she wanted to take my sample (now 2 hours old), and she told me to keep holding onto it. After 45 more minutes alone, I went back to the front desk after taking my dog out again. I was told flatly: “This is an ER clinic. We have a dog being euthanized right now.” I understand the need to prioritize critical cases, but the lack of communication was inexcusable. I explained we had been waiting over two hours with no updates. She repeated: “We take animals according to urgency.” Meanwhile, I watched multiple staff chatting and standing around. There was plenty of opportunity for someone to update those waiting. Around 2:15 p.m., a tech came in, took my dog’s info, and said my sample might not be usable since they’d likely want a new “clean catch”—even though mine had been sitting unrefrigerated because they refused to take it. She then took the sample and said they’d call me when the doctor was ready. Around 3 p.m., I went back to the desk and said: “I would like to know what’s going on with my dog. I’ve been here over three hours.” This time, the staff member was pleasant and apologetic. She said: “I just got to this station, I’m not sure what’s going on. Let me find out.” She was the only person who showed any genuine courtesy. I told her: “I understand emergencies happen, but there’s been no communication. Communication goes a long way, especially when you have a sick pet.” Finally, after over four hours, we were called back to a room. A tech brought my dog in and said the doctor would be with me shortly. When Dr. Miller came in, she said: “Thank you for your patience.” I replied: “I ran out of that three hours ago.” She immediately got defensive and said: “We are an ER clinic. We take animals according to urgency.” I pointed out the urgency chart in the exam room listing UTI as Level 2 urgency. Throughout the consultation, she was snappy and dismissive. When I calmly explained I’d worked with many veterinary clinics and understood triage, but that no communication for hours was unacceptable, she turned around, walked out, and **slammed the door behind her.** The bill: $343 was acceptable for an ER visit except for $15 “hazardous waste removal” for the glass container I brought (which they kept without asking). $90 ultrasound I never authorized or discussed. I have never been to a veterinary clinic that didn’t first discuss procedures and costs. The next day, I called to speak with the medical director, Dr. Sam. She called back while I wasn’t available and left no instructions on how to reach her. I texted her twice and never heard back. I understand emergencies happen, and I absolutely want animals in life-threatening situations to be treated first. But there is no excuse for: * Zero communication for hours unless I asked. * Rude, dismissive staff and doctor. * Performing costly procedures without consent. When someone finally asks for an update, we don’t need to be guilted about other emergencies. We’re there because our own pet is sick and in pain. If you value your pet’s comfort, your time, patience, or money, I would strongly recommend going anywhere else.

Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely fantastic place. Our sweet Levi was accidentally hit by my son as he was backing out of our driveway. They went out of their way to help us and knew we were struggling financially and they did all the could to try to get our bill lowered as much as they could. They explained everything to us and then left the room and gave us time to say our goodbyes they came in to check on us and talked us through the process as they were putting her to sleep. We got her cremated and a clay paw print made she passed on 7-2-25 & was ready to pick up on 7-8-25. We also received a beautiful card signed by the staff with her paw print in the mail. I couldn’t have asked for better in our final moments with Angel Mae

Experiencia negativa: Call before you go. I drove an hour to get here. It was the closest one to where I lived. I was turned away. I’m with my dog 24/7 and know what’s going on. They asked me to set her on the floor. 10 seconds at the most. She didn’t fall over for them they said she wasn’t an emergency and turned me away. Now I can understand they where busy. I can understand a dog really needing help bad. They should come first. I even let the people behind me go before me. My thing is don’t act like you know someone’s baby better than there human. Got it!

Experiencia negativa: My dog/best friend of 15 years had a tragic accident that resulted in us having to use the office to have him cross the rainbow bridge. Initially we had the best experience with the office that a person could have in our situation. Unfortunately that's where our good experience stopped and our heck started. We opted to bring my boy home to bury him in his favorite spot in the sun. The office assured me they would have his paw and nose prints and mail them to us. We even went back inside to confirm after they brought his body back to us. It's now been over a month and we still haven't received any prints and the office will not give me any straight answers or even return my phone calls at this point. The last they told us was that if we don't receive the prints in the mail there is nothing they can do, they can't even confirm if or when they were sent out. This is heartbreaking because they assured me they would sent us prints and that I did not need to take my own. I am so disappointed with how the outcome of this turned out.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr Whittemore and her team were excellent. Went above and beyond to ensure my anxious fur baby was as comfortable as possible. Would highly recommend to anyone needing an Internist for their fur baby!

Experiencia positiva: Came here this morning since it was Memorial Day and our regular vet wasn’t open. The facility was clean and seemed well organized/efficient. The staff handled our sick pet well. My only complaint is that the front desk receptionist with the brassy shaggy blonde hair was not friendly at all. For some people coming to the emergency vet can mean one of the worst days of their lives and having to speak with a snarky employee right away does not help the situation at all. We do appreciate the other staff members who were kind during such a vulnerable time. Thank you

Experiencia fantástica: My dogs were playing with a ball and someone broke a tooth. Instantly, I started freaking out and since the younger dog was breathing funny, I barely looked in his mouth to see if it was him and brought him here. After being checked in, the doctor looked at him and said it wasn't him. Thank goodness!! After the assessment, I went to pay and they waived me off. I was ready to pay for being there and taking up their time. I can't tell you how much of a relief it was that a) "my dog" hadn't broken a tooth and b) they didn't even charge me for being "that dog mom". If ever I need emergency care for my dog again, I will definitely choose this establishment.

Experiencia fantástica: I will forever be grateful for this place and the amazing people in it. We have been bringing Oscar, our Great Dane mix, here since mid-March, when we came in on a Sunday morning through the emergency service. He had been undergoing treatment for another issue at another practice, and over the weekend became critically ill. We arrived with him and he was immediately brought back for evaluation and triage. The staff is comforting and keeps you updated with progress and news, and though it felt like forever (because we were so anxious about what was wrong) they had a diagnosis and a plan forward very efficiently and quickly given they were incredibly busy with many emergencies. Oscar was diagnosed with Addison’s Disease and we were told he was in Addisonian Crisis. His lab work was critically abnormal. This group literally saved his life, and he walked out of the hospital 3 days later We have had the opportunity to do follow-ups quite regularly here with the internal medicine service so that Oscar’s labs can be followed and his medications adjusted accordingly. They run like a well-oiled machine every single time. Oscar is comfortable here, he walks in and lays down next to me while we wait for them to come take him for his labs, and everyone is just incredibly warm and friendly to both him and to us. We wouldn’t have our sweet boy today if it hadn’t been for this place. My soul dog is still with me because of them. And thank you is just not enough.

Experiencia negativa: My dog died at this place. I don't blame them for his death. My problem is that when my baby was cremated they gave me someone else's pet's remains! Let me explain. I received the "cremains" for my baby boy Wally about two weeks after he died. Included in the package was a paw print in some kind of clay material that was supposed to have been from my dog. It wasn't. The reason I know this is because I've got the footprint from another dog I've owned who died long ago. He was a 100 pound lab Rottweiler mix and was known for his big paws. The paw print I recently received from the crematory for Wally was about the same size as that. the only problem is, Wally was about 50 pounds and had tiny feet. When I called the Vet hospital about this they referred me to the crematory instead of handling my complaint themselves. this doesn't sit well with me because I didn't apy the crematory-I paid the animal hospital, and I never once had any prior contact with the crematory. A business should IMO handle customer concerns directly even if they use a third party vendor. In any event, I did call the crematory and spoke to the (I believe) owner. His name was Jeff. He said that when the he receives an animal the weight is noted on the form and if there was a major discrepancy he would call the animal hospital. He said my dog Wally was noted as 88 pounds! I told him there was no way that was my dog! he said he would contact Lori at the hospital and get to the bottom of things. I did receive a call from her and she was supremely indifferent to my concerns. I know this because she would say "I understand" in a patronizing fashion while I was still speaking. She told me that Wally weighed in at 50 pounds when they checked him in and I told her yes that was correct then how to explain the 88 pound dog that the crematory received? She had no answer, except to basically say that they didn't make those kind of mistakes. Well, alrighty then! If you say so, Lori. Case closed! Except Jeff never did call her to try to figure out the major difference between what he weighed Wally as and what the animal hospital weighed him as. So the likely explanation of what happened here is that I received the remains of a different (88 pound) dog and that someone else received the remains of my Wally. Or, as an alternative explanation, the crematory simply hands out paw prints that are mass produced in China. But that still doesn't explain the weight discrepancy. And by the way, I asked Jeff to send me Wally's records and he said he would, but he never did. So in summary, a shoddy, slipshod operation run by rude and condescending people. I will be contesting the $600 worth of charges with my credit card company and am considering hiring a lawyer at ,my own expense to get some kind of justice. I'm sure I'm not the only one this has happened to, and I don't want others to have to suffer additional pain and suffering. It's bad enough when you lose a pet. It's worse when people like these make it worse.

We are truly heartbroken to read this, and we’re deeply sorry for the distress you've experienced following the loss of your beloved Wally. Please know that we take your concerns with the utmost seriousness, and we understand how devastating it must be to feel uncertain about something so personal and important.

We want to assure you that your trust—especially during such an emotional and vulnerable time—matters to us more than words can express. We work closely with our cremation partner to ensure respectful, individualized aftercare, and it is deeply troubling to hear there was such a discrepancy in the reported weight and the paw print you received. While we referred you to the crematory for additional information, we agree that you placed your trust and payment with us, and we should have handled this more directly and supportively.

We sincerely regret that any communication with our team came across as indifferent or dismissive. That is never the experience we want any grieving pet parent to have, and we are truly sorry if our follow-up added to your pain. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly and ensure your concerns are addressed fully and respectfully. Please do not hesitate to call us—we would appreciate the chance to make things right.

Experiencia fantástica: When my chocolate lab suddenly stopped eating., I was referred to Animal Emergency and Specialty by a vet in Jonesborough. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a courteous staff member. My lab was admitted within a reasonable amount of time. Someone from the staff called me every day, sometimes twice a day to update me on my labs condition. My lab did not survive. However the care and concern by Dr,. Whittemore was amazing. She helped me make that really hard decision. She treated me like family. I could not express my gratitude to Dr. Whittmore in a very difficult time.

Experiencia fantástica: This place was a life saver - literally. So grateful. We are from Cincinnati, and were spending time in Pigeon Forge. Not long after we got into town, our English Mastiff, Melvin, randomly developed symptoms of bloat (GDV - Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus). Unfortunately, the large breed/deep chested dogs are prone to being affected by this, and it is typically fatal if not addressed pretty quickly. Luckily, we were home when the symptoms first started around 10pm. We frantically called around and were referred to this 24 hour vet hospital in Knoxville; long story short, we made the hour drive, and were able to get him there in time. Everyone was very nice and accommodating, but also direct in what needed to happen immediately. After diagnosis, we discussed our options with the doctor, and surgeons were ultimately called in overnight. They were able to successfully perform the emergency surgery that saved Melvin's life. The thing I want to stress to everyone to consider, is opening a Care Credit account - it's a healthcare credit card for your pet(s). Use it regularly and pay it off like you typically would, then continue to request increases on the line of credit. When an emergency situation pops up, having something like this in place is crucial. These sudden life or death decisions are traumatizing; being unprepared only compounds it. The necessary procedures can be very expensive, given the circumstances. We are beyond blessed to have had a substantial amount of funds (cash and credit) available for a situation just like this. Thank you to everyone at Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Knoxville for giving us many more years with our dog.

Experiencia negativa: 1am I’m giving my Ryder his medication through a syringe and next thing I know he’s breathing weird. I call Knoxville Emergency Animal Center and explain what is going on he inhaled 1mL of mixed water and Doxycycline (an antibiotic). They tell me bring him in immediately so I do. I get there he is acting a little better still breathing weird. Get signed in and taken into a room and I listen to the vet techs just chitchat about non-animal related stuff from the room while they giggle and whatever. One finally comes in after 20 minutes of listening to them… Told them he inhaled his meds and all his medicines those being doxycycline and prednisone tablets (steroids). Told he can be examined for 200$ and X-rayed for 600$…. Then told that I could apply for a loan with high interest or get a credit card with low interest… I left after those being my options deciding my boy can make it to the morning to MOCO Animal Hospital. We made it and they told me that they can’t just pump it out we’ll just have to wait and watch him and offered cough suppressant. The exact medications he is on which they knew about would be the fix to his issue but they were trying to wiggle 800 out of me just to find the issue just base line find it not find and cure. MOCO also said with how little was put in him nothing would show on X-RAYS for another 3-4 days so that would’ve been a waste of 600 just to find nothing since it was a literal 50 minutes since it happened at this point due to the loading up driving getting there and sitting in that room … They waste your time, charge an arm and leg, push for debt, and worse of all don’t know what they’re doing just trying to make money off you and don’t care for your fur baby. This was something small that as a first time pet owner I didn’t know. We were scared and they don’t care. The trip to them would’ve resulted in being told something way worse was going on to get more out of me or being told he’s completely healthy and he just had a little water in his lungs for 800$. Post of Ryder after a tiring day

Experiencia fantástica: I didn't love being there at all. It was an emotionally charged situation. The staff handled the passing of our Roxie with great compassion and respect. It wasn't the 1st time we had 2 go there. All other times were handled with the same professionalism. If the unfortunate need does arise, I'd highly recommend
