When pets are struck by vehicles, our team’s priority is immediate triage, stabilization, pain management, and thorough diagnostics to assess for internal injuries that may not be visible externally. Even if a pet appears to be in a similar physical position at discharge, extensive monitoring, imaging, and supportive care are often necessary to determine stability and create a safe treatment plan.

Experiencia fantástica: We went to MedVet after my dog ingested part of a stuffed toy and it became lodged in his intestine. His surgery was extensive and he required overnight stays. The staff were very patient and respectful. I called to check in on him regularly and I never felt that they were bothered to take my call. They were thorough with instructions and follow up care. The surgeon was polite and professional and took the time to answer all of our questions.

Knowing that highly trained veterinarians are there ready to help and that they have such a heart for animals is deeply reassuring. I rescued my dog Millie six months ago, and she ended up at Met Vet the same evening with multiple issues. The compassion and attention to detail shown was extra extraordinary. A few days ago, when I was away in Florida, Millie, my rescue, ate some very dangerous items. The entire staff, and specifically Drs. Experiencia fantástica: I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Lane and his team at MedVet Cincinnati on Red Bank Road. For several months, I’ve been searching for answers and relief for my dog’s IBD. I was initially referred to another internal medicine specialist, but I didn’t feel we were getting the attention and support needed to truly help my dog. Thankfully, a neighbor recommended Dr. Lane, and that referral made all the difference. From our very first consultation, Dr. Lane and his team have been compassionate, attentive, and incredibly responsive. They’ve taken the time to listen to my concerns, thoughtfully consider updates, and remain open to exploring different dietary approaches and treatment options. What stands out most is their reliability and communication. Whether I call, email, or request a prescription refill, I receive prompt follow-up every time — never having to ask twice or wonder if I’ll hear back. When you’re worried about your pet and acting as their advocate, being heard and supported means everything, and this team truly provides that reassurance. MedVet Cincinnati is much more than an emergency veterinary hospital. Experiencia fantástica: Most recently we went to Medvet when our 6 year old mixed breed dog lost use of his back legs The prognosis was 50/50 After surgery he had no deep pain sensation with a less than optimal prognosis We opted to work with their PT Shawn and have seen improvement we did not expect It has only been a little over 1 month so the jury is still out Regardless of outcome they have operAted with professionalism and managed our expectations Their kindness and compassion with our pets and us have been above the call of duty While specialists and surgery are always expensive there is hidden value we didn't expect Their responsiveness to phone calls, and continued questions about how to care for a paralyzed dog had been exemplary I highly recommend

Both experiences have been absolutely outstanding—for our pets and for us. Dr. Karl Maritato, the surgical department, and the entire staff have been amazing. Experiencia negativa: Went to medvet at Liberty Center with a sick dog. They did several test on her and determined it would be best to go to the medvet on Red Bank road on Monday morning for an ultrasound. I was told to show up between 7am and 8am for an ultrasound. I Was told that appointments were first come, first serve except for patients that are staying at the hospital. I showed up at 7am and told them I was there to have an ultrasound done. During the next several hours I watched several pets come in and get taken back for ultrasounds. Around 10am I inquired why I had not been scheduled yet and they said someone would be with me. A short time later a nurse came out and said she was ready to schedule the ultrasound and that it would be 2pm today. I explained that I had already been here for 3 1/2 hours and that was unacceptable. She said that was the best she could do. I asked her why other dogs had came in and had been taken back for the ultrasound and she said they had appointments. I told her I was told that it was first come, first serve and they did not do appointments and she said that was correct. I asked how the other dogs were taken back then and she did not have an answer. We did end up getting an ultrasound done but it wasn't until 1pm.

Brian, we know how stressful it is to bring in a sick dog and then wait hours for an important diagnostic test. Arriving at 7:00 a.m. after being told it was first come, first served, only to see other patients taken back ahead of you, would understandably feel frustrating and confusing.
Ultrasound scheduling can be complex in a specialty hospital. In addition to walk-in evaluations, we also care for hospitalized patients and time-sensitive referrals that may require priority placement based on medical urgency. At times, that can make the order appear inconsistent from the waiting area. That said, it is our responsibility to clearly explain how the schedule works and set realistic expectations. If that communication was unclear or contradictory, we understand how that would add to your frustration.
We’re glad your dog was ultimately able to receive the ultrasound that day, but we would appreciate the opportunity to review what happened and clarify the scheduling process. Experiencia positiva: This past weekend, I had to take one of my three-month-old frenchie puppies to MedVet for a prolapsed rectum. While the doctor was friendly and had decent bedside manner, I feel that he failed to address the root cause of the problem. Given that this was a young puppy who was bleeding and prolapsed, it seemed like common sense to perform a fecal exam. Instead, he dewormed the puppy, placed a suture, prescribed probiotics and pain medication, and advised me to follow up with my primary veterinarian. I was initially quoted $400–$500 for the visit, but when I checked out, the total was $755—nearly double the estimate. When I asked for clarification on the discrepancy, I was directed from the receptionist to a technician, who couldn’t provide a clear explanation. By that point, we had been there for hours, it was late and cold, and I didn’t have the energy to push the issue further. The doctor did offer additional diagnostics such as bloodwork or imaging for another $700–$800+, which I declined. Still, no fecal exam was ever suggested, despite that being critical and necessary and I was so distressed I didn’t even realize until after. Four days later, I followed up with my primary veterinarian as instructed. After performing a fecal sample, he diagnosed my puppy with coccidia—an extremely contagious parasite that dewormers do not treat. I also have a litter of six puppies, who have now all tested positive. Because the underlying cause was never addressed, the suture had to be removed and my puppy’s rectum prolapsed again within 24 hours. I am currently back at MedVet, writing this after waiting over four hours. A different doctor is placing another temporary suture until I can get back to my primary vet to work toward a permanent solution. This doctor has been kind and attentive and also expressed concern about the likelihood of another prolapse, again recommending follow-up with my primary vet—where we will be scheduling a colopexy. What is most upsetting is knowing that this entire situation could likely have been avoided had a fecal exam been done during the initial visit. I am now thousands of dollars into veterinary bills in one week, but the hardest part isn’t the financial strain—it’s watching my puppy suffer unnecessarily. My primary veterinarian reviewed the records from MedVet and was extremely underwhelmed by the level of care provided from our first visit. Our second suture visit was much better, and the notes were much more thorough. I will give them that. MedVet does employ some excellent veterinarians—I personally had a great experience with Dr. Mariatado during my dog’s FOH and nares surgery. However, based on this experience, I believe there are inconsistencies in the quality of care, and not all providers are taking every necessary step to protect an animal’s health and well-being. My advice to other pet owners is to research your pet’s condition, communicate with your primary veterinarian (especially if they offer after-hours support), and seek a second opinion when possible. Doing so may help prevent avoidable mistakes that lead to additional pain for your pet and thousands of dollars in unnecessary expenses. The staff at MedVet has always been friendly, welcoming, and empathetic, and I have no complaints there. Because we have been there several times and had a major surgery there $$$ with a card on file, they have always prioritized treating my pets versus demanding I pay upfront, which I saw others complain about. I just wish the overall quality of medical care consistently reflected the high cost of emergency services. I would do anything to protect my dogs, but after this experience, it will be difficult for me to fully trust MedVet with future emergency cases. Still, I don’t want to discredit the entire team based off of one less-than-desirable experience.

Experiencia fantástica: My visit to MedVet was a critical emergency and I was very emotional. I met Delaney and her care and compassion was genuine. She had concerns and said she was so glad I had brought him in. Her calm demeanor was very much appreciated. Then I met with Dr. Studebaker and her knowledge and compassion shone bright. I had to leave him in the ICU for the night, which was so hard but I knew he would get the care he needed. Then I met with Kym and Dr Palko who were an amazing team and took the time to talk with me about what to expect with a FIP neuro cat. Well I am happy to say that after four days of medication…my boy is now walking around and being a cat agin, even those he’s a little wobbly and still regaining his strength, now he is healing because of the knowledge, care, compassion and teamwork at MedVet! Thank you for what you do and for the wonderful care of Master Shifu!

Experiencia fantástica: On Sunday 2/15 my greyhound began declining over the course of the morning. I took her to Med Vet because of how sick she became. Unfortunately, two large masses were found and I had to tell her goodbye. While I wish there was a different outcome, I wanted to say everyone at Med Vet was incredibly caring and kind. I would love to name everyone I spoke to that day because I felt less alone with the hard decision. Dr Young was who helped Nicki and I’m grateful for his caring and honest approach. Experiencia negativa: honestly appalled at front desk lady and her attitude. i called last night around 2 am regarding an emergency of my cat and was already on the way 10 minutes from MedVet. i called ahead to see if i should bring her in or if i was being dramatic. the first initial greeting from this woman wasn't too great. tone sounded annoyed more than anything and i told her my cat was open mouth breathing and i was wondering if i should bring her in. she simply said "yeah, just bring her in. we will check her out" and i decided to explain exactly what happened and that i was really worried just to get a direct answer and decide whether or not i was making a big deal and if it could have been a misconception on my end because i do not want to spend a grand if i do not have to. i was clearly upset and looking for advice on the phone with this woman, and as i was mid sentence explaining what exactly led up to me seeing the open mouth breathing, she cut me off and simply said "yep, just bring her in, we will take a look at her" she sounded like she couldn't care less and it was so abrupt it caught me off guard. i then said "okay, thank you" and she rushed off the phone. i was not on the phone for more than a minute. i understand she may not be a vet herself and cannot diagnose anything, but she could have at least been empathetic. that was an immediate red flag for me. i turned the car around and started heading straight for VEG ER instead. they handled me great especially over the phone and i felt in good hands. i have gone to MedVet's before for a couple of my other kitties and most of the vets i have met there have been so sweet and helpful but i never will be going to MedVet again just from this reaction and the extreme wait times and costs of things.

Experiencia fantástica: A phenomenal pet experience! I went there thinking my puppy had bronchitis and ended up with a diagnosis of end stage cancer. Through the whole experience they gave me input on the options for treatment but let me choose based on my ability to pay and feelings. And through the whole experience they treated Winnie as if she was one of their own pet children. They were very compassionate in their delivery of the unexpected news. They listened! Even with a full waiting room, we never felt that our issues were minimized. Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Schwartz operated on my dog’s legs after he tore his CCLs in 2024 and 2025. The whole process was as good as it could have been from start to finish. Everyone was so great throughout the whole process and after each surgery Dr. Schwartz called herself to give an update and allowed for me to ask any questions we had. He is back to running around as if he never had surgery and we are so grateful that Dr. Schwartz and the MedVet staff were able to give him back his quality of life. Experiencia fantástica: My 1 year old Ernee was diagnosed at Dayton MedVet with a foreign body located in his stomach. Dayton’s internal medicine team did not come in due to the weather so I opted to go to Cincinnati. I called first thing in the morning & luckily they were able to see Ernee directly. By the time we got there the team had reviewed his case, looked over his X-rays, & they were ready to go! We saw Dr. Lane who was absolutely amazing. He performed an endoscopy procedure & successfully removed said foreign body - saving Ernee from having an invasive surgical procedure. Even when we were waiting in the packed lobby - I noticed how kind, calm, & informative all the staff were speaking to all the worried pet parents. The over all vibes were great - even in stressful times. We drove an hour and a half there and back and it was 100% worth it. Ernee returned back to his crazy self not even a full 24 hours post procedure.

Experiencia positiva: Wait time of 3 plus hours to just see a doctor coordinator is excessive when what we needed was an xray to see if metal foreign object had actually been ingested. Then waiting again for xray to be taken and read. Xray could have been done then seen doctor to decide on a plan of action. If object wasn't ingested we could have left and opened up area in waiting area. It's winter and covid, flu and other viruses are hovering around. Elderly folks do not need to hang out like that when it's completely unnecessary. Below question on price can't be answered with one click. I feel it was a bit overprice but within reasonable cost.

Experiencia negativa: Disgusted by how we were treated at MedVet. We brought in our cats after both had been sick for a while and one was having moments of respiratory distress. Our regular vet was closed. One other place didn’t have openings until later the evening but told us that our cat with respiratory issues was something we shouldn’t wait to be seen for. So MedVet was the one place open we could be seen quickly (according to the phone call I had before we went) We drove nearly an hour to get there. After waiting in a room for 3 hours, they told us that we needed to go somewhere else because our boys weren’t critical enough. As much as I am grateful my boys weren’t “critical” I find it abhorrent that they couldn’t have told us this when they first checked us in or after the initial vital check. The room was freezing, our boys had no access to a litter box or water or food. We were incredibly patient and understanding about waiting and other critical patients. Again, I am frustrated by the lack of communication and bedside manner. Hopefully we will be able to help our cats at a different place tonight.

Experiencia fantástica: Brought my mini dachshund in related to limping around to have her checked for IVDD upon entering facility they were very caring took her back to triage after triage brought her back out to me we were seeing within an hour. Gracie was seen by the vet they completed a thorough neuro check that was confident She did not feel it was IVDD but collaborated with me and we decided to follow protocol gave her appropriate medication took her home crate rested they followed up the next day and followed up with my vet as well Happy to say Gracie is fine and clear of IVD D

Experiencia positiva: Vegetarian was top notch with care and communication. Staff also was very caring and attentive. My dog is elderly and was very sick so he was considered an emergency and was taken back quickly without me. I was sent a text explaining they would do an exam. I didnt see the text until later later. What I was not told was that they did an ultra sound which I was charged for with out asking me. I was already aware of what was wrong with him, I came for treatment for an existing chronic illness. I should have been consulted before treatment started. However the treatment for him was excellent. I highly recommend MedVet for emergency treatment.

Experiencia negativa: Waited four hours for blood work on possible iron poisoning, just for them to tell us that they wouldn't see us for another 3+ hours. AND that the work needed would be 300 more than our vet that would be open before they could see us. Unless your pet is bleeding or showing active signs of death, don't go here.

Experiencia negativa: We took our dog here on new years day due to our normal vet being closed for thr holiday. He was very lethargic and unable to walk. After we checked in, an associate came up to us and asked us if we fed the dog Marijuana, and said that would make him act weird. We told her no, our dog did not ingest a large amount of pot. She didn't believe us, for whatever reason. She took the dog's "vitals". All that was included in that was putting a stethoscope up to his harness and say he was fine. She didn't take his temp or anything. We could wait if we wanted to, but it would be a very long time. It felt like she was basically asking us to leave. So we left. We're sleeping with the dog tonight to watch him and taking him to our normal vet tomorrow morning, ASAP. It was honestly a huge waste of our time. We live in Kentucky and drove all the way up there for nothing. Work on your bedside manner, and maybe not heavily insinuate we gave our dog drugs and then wasted our evening driving up there to have his pulse checked? So unprofessional.

Experiencia fantástica: From the moment we walked in until the moment we said goodbye to our dog, we were met with nothing but compassion and kindness. During one of the hardest moments of my life, the entire staff treated us with such care and respect. Dr. Spangler took the time to thoroughly explain our dog’s injuries in a clear and gentle way, helping us understand that recovery was not possible. He never rushed us, answered all of our questions, and most importantly reassured me that we were making the right decision by letting her pass peacefully and with dignity. Experiencia positiva: excellent care for my 125lb german shepherd that had a cluster seizure a few days before christmas. the 24 hour availability is a life saver to be sure but you will pay a lot for it. the staff seemed attentive and caring. i felt he was in good hands. the meds prescribed have helped and he has not had a seizure since this post(5 days later).

Experiencia fantástica: If I could give MetVet 6 stars, I would. You never want to see the emergency vet, but if you do you should go here. Our Charlie has been hit by a car, a melanoma/oncology consult, visit for lethargy, new onset seizures, and an upcoming neurology consult and I can’t say enough good things about every person we’ve encountered! Drs Lane, Callahan, and Steinbeck are all fantastic. All the nurses are spectacular as well. Friendly, knowledgeable, and most of all there when you need them.

Experiencia positiva: SOOO expensive ! the workers are kind and helpful but they charge way more than any other Pet Hospital (not the staffs fault) If you are stuck in a cram and can't pay to save your pet, call other local ER's fast and see their pricing and make that 30 min drive it'll save you a few thousands trust me!!!! our poor cat could've got the treatment he deserved for a fraction of the cost elsewhere. you can find kindness and good treatment anywhere but the price is just not worth it in our families opinion

Experiencia fantástica: Compassionate care during a stressful emergency surgery/septis diagnosis. Thanks to expert radiologists, an injested popsicle stick that didn't show up on xrays was able to be removed, giving my beloved dog a chance at recovery. Price isn't cheap, but the access to a team of specialists can make the difference between life and death.

Experiencia fantástica: I took my cat here back in August due to kidney failure. Unfortunately, with all of there best efforts, he did not make it. I got to visit him while he was in icu, from experience with another vet I can say I will be returning if I ever have issues in the future. They had multiple vets with him 24/7, all around care was absolutely amazing. It was truly the worst thing I have ever gone through but knowing I brought my boy to them, I know he truly got the best veterinarian, vets techs, and care that a cat can get. When it was his time to cross, the vet tech was extremely passionate and made the processes alittle less traumatizing, we will never forget her and her compassion with our sweet boy. They took nose prints, foot prints, and some fur for us and he was delivered to us in KY. I will say they are very expensive but there’s no doubt in my mind I’d spend what I did 5 more times to ensure my animal has the best doctors and care in the Tri-state. I highly recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: We had an emergency for our 2yo Labrador in the middle of the night- we called MedVet for their advice on the matter at midnight, they calmly gave us the signs of what to look out for that would make sense to bring our dog in. That happened at 3am, so we called back and let them know we were on our way and they assured us they’d have a room. It was a very short wait after check in that they took our dog back for vitals and let us know she was going to be ok and the doctor would see her soon. The doctor listened to us and everything that happened, she very calmly and confidently gave us options for game plan to move forward. She was not pushy on any treatment or procedure and we left with the medication and instructions to get our pup on the mend. Out the door before 6:15am. We are grateful they were able to see us in the wee hours of the morning to keep our minds at ease and not have to wait to get her in to our primary vet til the morning.

Experiencia fantástica: MedVet is amazing. They gave me my dogs back many times. From a flipped stomach, to a slipped disc, and chicken bones to broken bones. They have been compassionate when the dice didn’t roll in our favor too. I cannot think of a more wonderful veterinary practice. Although frequent flier miles would be nice they are an amazing group of individuals. From the receptionist to the nurses to the surgeons, the client advocates, everyone I have ever had the pleasure of speaking with has just been so kind and wonderful.

Experiencia fantástica: My cat had swallowed something that was piercing his small intestine and required immediate surgery. The staff kept me well—informed of next steps through the entire process. The surgeon called me before and after surgery, as well as the following morning to inform me of his progress. The staff was friendly and very willing to answer my frantic questions at all hours of the day and night. I believe my cat received outstanding care and I received very compassionate service. MedVet saved my little man’s life and treated me well too. Although it was more expensive than our regular vet, it was worth every penny to get him treated immediately and given round the clock ICU care.

Experiencia fantástica: My little dog was treated by the vets and staff with Excellent care. He was very sick when we took him in and within three days, he seems back to his normal self so very thankful to these vets and staff . Toby is very happy to be back home!

Experiencia fantástica: I called this hospital at 9pm with a stray kitten (fuzzy) with a big bleeding bite wound on its neck and asked the wait time the lady said one person was waiting and she would put me down and I said I was on my way. When I pulled in I see lots of people inside and thought oh no this is going to take forever. But I walked in with people in line the sweet lady at the desk said ms are you the one with fuzzy and I said yes she said step up here please. I was amazed because of the people in line. They immediately took fuzzy back and check him out. He got stitches and they took really great care of him mind you this is a stray kitten that I feed one of many. But this place i will go to from here on out because they actually care and they tell you what their going to do before they do it. They fixed this baby. And he is now healing. Thank you MedVet Cincinnati!!!!!!!! Fuzzy approves!!!

Experiencia negativa: I would never take any animal here. These people don't know what they are doing, they couldn't diagnose a fart. I took my dog in to them at 1am on 11/17 because he was having trouble breathing. They took him and checked his vitals and said everything was fine, there wasn't anything wrong with him. I was woken up at 8am to my wife telling at me that something was wrong with him. I got up to him not breathing, he had a faint hear beat, but by the time we got in the car he was gone. So 8 hours after taking him to this place he was no longer with us. Some vet this place is, can't even tell my dog was slowly dying. We were also talked out of doing x-rays because we were told he didn't need them and they were $1000. I don't care the cost, just tell me what is wrong with my dog.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff at Med Vet were fast to get my cat in during a stressful time in the middle of the night. He is happily home and on his way to being healthy again. It is a relief to know there is somewhere caring to go after hours.

Experiencia fantástica: My baby was trampled buy a much bigger dog and Med Vet took such good care of him. He had to stay a few nights and there were so kind when I call multiple times to check on him. Kelli Mossine DVM was amazing at explaining everything. We didn't know if he would walk again but Kelli showed me how to rehab ar home and she was pleasantly surprised when Charlie walk in to his check up. I will highly recommend Med Vet. They are so caring. Thank you all

Experiencia negativa: Absurdly expensive. Bloodwork alone for dog over $1,000. $3,000+ into this and they still cannot provide us a diagnosis or provide a plan of care that has improved her quality of life.

Experiencia fantástica: My small Yorkie swallowed a block of poison. I called MedVet they said bring her right down. I was there less than 5 minutes and my girl waa taken back to the treatment area. The nurse asked if they could treat to clear the poiso.n from her tummy. Of course I said yes. From the time I walked into the facility everyone was amazing. The kept me posted through the entire process. The nurse and doctor were so kind. My little girl came through in excellent shape. I took her home and life is good! Thank you all for your kindness and understanding! I highly recommend MedVet.

Experiencia fantástica: Took my KC Cavalier puppy to Cincinnati MedVet for a cardiology appointment. From start to finish we were extremely pleased. Everyone we encountered was friendly and professional. We were treated with compassion and kindness. The cardiology technician was helpful and kind and explained the process in detail. After my dog’s evaluation we met with the cardiologist and her resident who explained in detail their findings and how to move forward. We are very grateful for their clinical expertise.

Experiencia fantástica: We came to MedVet at 1:00 a.m. on a Monday with our parents’ 4-year-old boxer, Rosie. She was in critical condition and was admitted to the critical care unit for the next two days. Although the outcome wasn’t what we had hoped for, she received great care from the entire staff. From the moment we arrived, everyone treated our family with compassion, empathy, and professionalism. The team communicated every step of the way — even when the news was difficult to hear — and did so with kindness and understanding. A special thank you to Becca, Savannah, Emily, and Dr. Satchell for the care and love you showed to Rosie and to our parents.

Experiencia fantástica: 10/20/25: I am editing my review because it will not allow me to leave another review. I wish I could give you all more than 5 stars. My girl Zoey was terminal. Zoey passed away on9/26/25. Her cancer was too aggressive for her body. With the help of Angels Paws she was able to pass away at home peacefully. I’ve been wanting to call to let you know she’s passed. But I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Fast forward to today, I got your sympathy card in the mail. Although I cried when I read it, it made me smile. The oncology department each wrote their own message in the card. It wasn’t just a generalized note from the whole staff (those are very nice as well). But it made me happy to know my girl left her mark with others. Zoey was a special girl for our family, and she will be missed everyday. Thank you for being able to see that, and thank you for the beautiful card. I am going to keep it next to the urn with her ashes. Dr Susanna Schwartz, and her assistants are simply amazing. I can’t even begin to describe how grateful I am that God put us in her Path. She saved my Zoey’s life. Zoey was schedule for surgery on a Wednesday, but I had to bring her to the ER the day before because she was so sick. Dr Schwartz stayed late Tuesday so she could do Zoey’s surgery. Although she will say she did not stay late, I know she did. She called me at 5:00, and the surgery dept closes at 5, and she had one more surgery. We are headed back to MEDVET to follow up tommorrow. I will always come to this animal hospital first for emergency needs. It’s a farther drive from my house, but my girl Zoey deserves the best, and these docs, and their support staff are the best.

Experiencia fantástica: We took our dog to medvet on the 14th of October due to her breathing being in a bad way an was very concerned. She had the previous week hurt her leg . The girls at the front desk were very caring and the nurse came out to get her was super good with her. They put her in an oxygen tent an that helped her to breath better, when we went to the exam room it was a bit of a wait but they brought her in an she was happy enough an not struggling for air. While talking to the vet he had a quick look at her leg an prescribe her some anti inflammatory meds which has helped but not totally healed. I can say that if they were closer to where we live I would use them as our "everyday " vet. I was impressed with the people and the facility, clean an smell free with caring people. Not free or cheap but but if you care for your pet what more could you want from a pet emergency services.
