Experiencia negativa: If you can get your animal to another clinic do it. DO NOT Come here !! It’s not the wait time. That I can understand. It’s the lack of human decency with the front desk. This AM I arrived with my poor dog who had eaten raw dough which has a leavening agent in the yeast (the animal can die in the 4 hours of waiting as there is no triage procedure in place ). What got me was even I asked , very politely I may add, then to refer to a possible Vet Clinic in the immediate vicinity her answer was ; “GOOGLE IT!” With a very condescending approach. Take your dog to a clinic where the people care. This is not the place.

Experiencia negativa: When they suggest euthanasia for your pet and you refuse, they will judge you with everything they have. It seems they don’t realize that we came there because our pet wasn’t in good condition and we were desperately looking for some hope. Even if a pet might still pass away, instead of offering suggestions to help them spend their final moments more comfortably, the first thing they push is euthanasia. When you are already in pain and searching for a solution, they look you in the eye and tell you that because you don’t want euthanasia, your pet will die in pain and they repeat it multiple times. You simply don’t say something like that over and over while looking directly at someone who is already suffering and grieving. My cat died in that hospital. I guess they’re happy now. Terrible people.

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my Great Dane in to emergency with a problem that my local vet was unable solve with his nail beds. The team at GCVS was friendly and efficient. My dog was seen within 20min. We waited for a dermatologist specialist for a lengthy time, but once they had an opportunity to see him, gave us a diagnosis of this rare condition. We were sent off with medication and my Dane is revived and doing Great! I owe them for saving my precious Great Dane! The facilities are clean and above standard! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help! I Highly Recommend this place for your pets care!

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing! I took my sick parrot in. She was treated by an avian (bird) vet. I was seen quickly and the doctor came out several times to explain everything. The vet was great! The medical care was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. The facility is huge, spacious, clean and comfortable. Turns out, my bird wasn’t sick. She was getting ready to lay an egg! The vet spent a lot of time with me and I learned so much about how to better care for my parrot.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a wonderful experience with Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. Everyone including the receptionists, the vet techs, and the physicians were very caring and empathetic with me and my dog. That really meant a lot to me. The physicians were very knowledgeable and performed a successful procedure on my dog. Experiencia fantástica: When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly receptionist and given the opportunity to sit wherever we chose in the hospital. The hospital itself is large, clean and provides for privacy in a number of areas. The technician and the vet were extremely friendly, professional and knowledgeable.

Experiencia fantástica: My Bengal cat was incredibly lethargic and dehydrated. She had been at her vet for two days but we all agreed she needed more advanced care and moved her to GCVS. While it did take a little while to get her in, there were quite a few emergencies at the time, everyone was incredibly caring, professional and efficient. I know my fur baby was well taken care and I received the right amount of communications. She was able to come home after a few days and is doing very well. Highly recommend.

Experiencia negativa: We brought our dog in as an emergency referral but it took a long time to get any results and took even longer for more extended tests. Had to wait an hour for them to remove a catheter and receive medication to make our dog more comfortable after her terminal cancer diagnosis. You pay a big bill but once out the door forget about them doing anything else. They won’t even refill a prescription they gave us and that we couldn’t get anyplace else for 3 days.

Experiencia fantástica: GCVS took the best care of my 9 year old dog when he was having trouble walking. He ended up have to get spinal cord surgery and they contacted me multiple times during his stay with updates. It’s now less than a week later he is practically back to his normal self!

Experiencia positiva: I brought my sick puppy in, it is a bit pricy but they are wonderful so it makes sense. We did have a long wait time, but I understand that other more emergent cases go first. They are willing to work with you financially to get the best treatment for your pet within your means. Dr. Hernandez was very kind and extremely knowledgeable. Experiencia fantástica: Had a rabbit experiencing stasis in the middle of the night (12am - 2am). They didn’t have an exotic specialist there, but they were the only 24 hour vet willing to at least take him in and keep an eye on him til the specialists got there. All the staff were incredibly kind to my partner and I during a stressful time. Dr Jeffery listened to our concerns, told us exactly what they were doing and how it would help, and treated our rabbit with care. He also formally diagnosed him with adorable, which made a stressful moment a bit easier to handle.

Experiencia positiva: My dog has an internal malformation that needs surgical correction. So far, we have only had the initial consult appointment, but everyone we encountered was just wonderful - kind, efficient, thorough, and I never felt rushed through. Extremely expensive, though, blood panel cost much more than at primary vet.

Experiencia fantástica: This was the best choice for our little frenchie. He woke up out of the blue, paralyzed. We were devastated, fearing the worst. The Vet and neurologist gave us such a good prognosis and even offered first had experience from one of their technicians that had this same surgery for her frenchie. Every step of the way, the doctors were so helpful and pleasant.

Experiencia fantástica: Golf course veterinary specialists are very well and knowing what they’re doing I took my bunnies in one of them needed blood work as he was 6 1/2 years old and gave us a call back within about not even an hour or two hours with the results which we’re all good they also checked out truly to make sure she was good and they got their vaccines that were needed yearly very good job will keep using them. I have attached photos of my babies that they have been looking at for quite a while now

Experiencia fantástica: They took care of my Thor for sure. I gulped a bit at the price(get pet insurance!) but when it comes to a three year old boy dog, you do what is necessary. Dr Murray spent the time with us to explain the process (and again to explain another procedure after testing was done)—all charges are right up front so no surprises. Kenisha was her assistant and she treated my boy like it was her own.

Experiencia fantástica: Went to my regular vet and found out my cat had severe anemia. She needed a blood transfusion. Avery got two units of blood, a multitude of diagnostics, imaging, etc. She was there two days. They saved her life. Communication was great. Zero complaints about how she, or myself, was treated. Now, I’ll be working forever to pay off that bill.

Experiencia negativa: Horrible service, my dog was not cared for properly at all , after her IVDD surgery they were supposed to express her bladder frequently and they let her go from 1am to 7pm without doing so , she ended up getting a uti and they didn’t initially believe me when I said her urine was very pungent, they said she was on antibiotics already, I requested a urine culture and it showed she was not on the right antibiotic . The surgeon wasn’t clear either home care and felt like they staff in general really doesn’t care. If you can avoid coming here then do so, unfortunately this happened suddenly and there was no other option.

Experiencia fantástica: I could not have had a better experience with Dr. Voie in Dermatology and I put her assistant Jennifer right at the top with her. My cat started loosing fur in April of 2025 due to incessant licking that got worse and worse over the course of the next 8 months. Everything we were instructed to try was not helping and he continued to lose more fur. We were referred to Gulf Coast Veterinary for a derm visit and so far it has been a life saver. Everyone we interacted with was patient and gave great information and explanations. My cat is set up on an allergy med routine that we will continue over the next 6 weeks... so hopefully we see improvement in his fur and a reduction in licking. I could not be more grateful for the care my cat received and I will be happy to post an update after his 6 week follow up. Thank you to Dr. Voie and Jennifer for such a positive experience when I was feeling pretty hopeless.

Experiencia negativa: I brought my duck to GCVS after a raccoon attack. This was one of the most disappointing and disheartening experiences I have ever had with a veterinary facility. I arrived at around 6:00 a.m. and received a call at 10:46 a.m. recommending euthanasia. At that time, I was told that my pet’s wounds had not been cleaned or treated (after over four hours in their care). The doctor mentioned waiting on radiology results and made an unclear reference to possible neurological issues, but the radiologist hadn’t even been consulted yet. I authorized euthanasia after being told my duck was suffering. What I still can’t understand is why it took over four hours and over $1,300 in charges when no actual wound care or treatment was ever attempted. If the injuries were obviously too severe to treat, why not reach that conclusion earlier instead of running up charges for procedures that changed nothing? The radiology findings weren’t even related to the external wounds. What’s worse is that the medications charged were common drugs like meloxicam, the animal equivalent of over the counter NSAIDs like ibuprofen. These medications cost only a few dollars wholesale, but I was charged excessive markups for drugs that were given without any actual treatment. No wound care. No stabilization. This experience left me feeling like financial protocols were prioritized over my animal’s comfort and care. I wouldn’t trust this facility again for emergency services involving birds or exotic pets.

When patients present after trauma, our team must first triage, stabilize, and assess the full extent of internal and external injuries before making medical recommendations. Experiencia fantástica: Our experience with Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists was truly exceptional, and I honestly don’t feel that five stars is enough. We were referred by our local veterinarian because Gulf Coast has a large neurology department with two neurologists, a resident, and MRI capabilities. From the very first phone call, the experience felt different. Shannon was the first person I spoke with, and she was compassionate, calm, professional, and incredibly helpful during a very emotional time. Our blue-nose pit bull, Bella, began limping on December 5. Despite strict bed rest and multiple medications throughout the month, she continued to decline. By December 28, she was essentially paralyzed — unable to stand or walk on her own. We had to support her with a towel just to take her outside, and she was clearly in significant pain. (I’m including videos with this review so you can truly see what condition she was in.) My husband and I made the decision to drive eight hours to Houston, and Bella was admitted to Gulf Coast on December 30 at 11:30 PM. The resident neurologist, Dr. Shelby Scanlin, examined her early the next morning and had already completed a full evaluation by 8:30 AM. She confirmed what we were seeing and agreed that Bella was in severe pain. Bella was quickly taken for bloodwork and an MRI, which revealed a very large herniated disc. Dr. Scanlin called me immediately after the MRI and recommended surgery. Dr. Scanlin was professional, compassionate, and reassuring throughout the entire process. She called me later that day (New Year’s Eve) around 4 PM to tell me the surgery had gone well, that Bella was awake, and that she would update me again the next morning. Even though it was a holiday (January 1), she called by 9:30 AM to tell me that Bella was already able to take a few steps on her own. Bella stayed for three days, and when I arrived on Saturday, January 3, it was emotional beyond words to watch her walk into the treatment room to greet me. They had fitted her with a supportive harness, which was incredibly helpful during recovery. Dr. Jones, one of the neurologists, handled her discharge and was just as thorough, kind, professional, and clear as Dr. Scanlin, providing detailed instructions and guidance for recovery. When we arrived home, Bella was able to walk into the house on her own and get back onto her dog bed. It was unbelievable. Gulf Coast was also incredibly flexible with Bella’s two-week follow-up appointment. Because of the distance, we were able to handle the follow-up remotely through email and video updates, which meant we didn’t have to make another eight-hour drive. Just as Dr. Scanlin said, Bella has gotten stronger every single day. Now about six weeks out, she appears back to normal — no medications, feeling great, and slowly back to short walks. She’s expected to be fully healed at two months, but she already feels almost there. The entire experience with Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists has been a 10 out of 10. They are professional, compassionate, thorough, highly skilled, and clearly deeply invested in the animals they care for. I genuinely believe the people here truly care about their patients. We are incredibly grateful for the outcome and for the team that made it possible. If I could give more than five stars, I would. They have our complete and wholehearted recommendation. I’m also including a video of Bella out on a walk because it really captures the outcome of everything they did for her – it says more than words ever could. PS.. I thought and was really hoping I could add videos but I guess Google reviews does not support that yet. Just so I’ve tried to take photos which doesn’t do it justice, but hopefully they are still helpful in understanding the severity of her situation.

Experiencia positiva: I've been coming here for years for emergencies. Through my own or family & friends pets. Year's ago this place was top of its practice. Idk what has happened over the years. If ownership has changed but it is no longer what it use to be. Specialist aren't available, especially when this is a emergency Hospital. Expect days to a month on a wait. Prices are outrageous. You go in for a emergency & if by chance you need a Specialists. You get the exam & test done, just for them to tell you they can't do the surgery now because the Specialists won't be in till 2 days from now. So the animal will have to stay until then & rack up over night charges. You have better luck driving all the way to College Station - Veterinary Small Animal Hospital & getting surgery done right away. They have more people on staff available & their prices are either half the price or a few thousand less. I gave 3 stars because the staff there is very caring & considerate. Especially the front desk. I wrote the review to hopefully save someone else time, money & maybe a animals life. Who's owners may feel like they aren't left with any options because they can't afford or can't wait for a Specialists.

Experiencia negativa: My 9 lb. dog spent all day at this facility and according to the tech, drank an entire bottle of water and they could not capture one small cup of urine all day. In spite of this they still charged me over $400 for the test though I was sent home with the cup and asked to obtain the urine sample myself. After much discussion, the doctor agreed to remove the fee. I was still charged nearly 2k just to be told that it could be cancer, it could be anatomy, it could be....no definitive answers and the doctor seemed unconcerned and unaffected either way. All she said was, "As was told to you...as I already stated..." Just plain rude and unsympathetic. I am basically out of pocket 2k and have no idea about the severity of this mass. I drove over 4 hours back and forth to learn absolutely nothing. Blood work, urinalysis, and other unnecessary procedures were done that were performed just two weeks prior at ER. I agreed to these tests because I thought they were necessary but this doctor did not discuss results of anything except ultrasound and that was vague and caused further confusion. Some doctors do not care about anything but the money. This doctor is one of them.

Experiencia fantástica: Very organized. I appreciated the quality vet tech and time the specialist spent with me. I will say they are much improved from my experience over 20 yrs ago. Their new building is also higher quality, no stairs, people and pet friendly, large open spaces so pets aren't cramped and well organized pharmacy, waiting area and snacks. They also have communications documented online and via text so communication is Very easy.

Experiencia fantástica: We took our Yorkie in for a consultation with an Orthopedic specialist on referral from our regular vet after he had been limping on and off for weeks and our regular vet was not able to make a confident diagnosis from the initial X-ray. GCVS had an opening a week from when we called, while other specialista were more than 2 weeks out. They were on time taking him in when we arrived for our appointment and Dr Kerr examined him promptly and was able to determine that he had torn his ACL, without needing to do X-rays or an MRI. She also did a fantastic job explaining the surgical procedure to address the issue. Surgery is never cheap, but it was less than I was bracing myself for. The surgery was scheduled for 2 weeks later, which we haven't reached yet. But our initial experience was excellent and the initial examination was not much more than our regular vet. We have been to GCVS for emergencies before as well and the staff and doctors are always awesome!

Experiencia positiva: If there were a better way to rate them, I would give them 3.75 stars. My dog, Randy, was a patient on 01-15-2026. I was referred to them because he had fluid in his lungs and an enlarged spleen. Another vet had mentioned my dog either had cancer or heart disease. I brought my dog here to get a better idea about what the issue was. They recommended multiple tests, medications, and supportive care that brought up the quote to about $8k. When I asked if they could remove certain tests and still give me a general idea, they said they could not remove anything. When I asked about supportive oxygen to take home, I was told that was not an option. I asked for an hour to think this through. Then, that hour turned into several hours. Eventually, they did give me enough oxygen canisters to transport my dog elsewhere. I am very grateful for the supportive care they gave my dog while he was a patient. However, I can't help but feel annoyed at how much time they wasted. I wish they would have sold me the oxygen canisters much sooner. I eventually transported my dog to the Texas A&M veterinary teaching hospital where they confirmed Randy had soft tissue sarcoma. I will return to A&M, not likely to return to GCVS for future needs.

Experiencia fantástica: I wish human medical care were run as well as Gulf Coast. The Drs run on time, and the techs and Drs listen and don't interrupt. The waiting area is huge, providing privacy and space. That is appreciated when people decide they have to be on speakerphone (eye roll). There are many clean private bathrooms and plenty of snacks for sale, even sandwiches! On my recent visit, I was greeted immediately, and the front desk woman put me at ease, telling me how caring and dedicated the vet was. I'm not sure my cat was happy, but I was. The only weird thing is that employees come out to the waiting area (in some cases, loudly) to discuss payments and financial details. I heard private information that I feel was completely inappropriate. The facility is huge, so I know they could meet somewhere privately to discuss the financial details of the care.

This time I saw the Dermotologist and it was only $178 for everything, including the medication! The diagnosis was right and they fixed the problem without surgery!! They have their own pharmacy and will mail you refills no problem too which is very nice. I highly recommend this place!!

I rushed him to GCVS terrified, and from the moment we arrived, they moved quickly, confidently, and with so much compassion. The team immediately assessed him, kept me informed every step of the way, and went above and beyond to make sure I understood what was happening. They performed a CT scan and soft tissue surgery, including removal of his salivary gland — all while continuously updating me and treating Ripp like he was their own. In one of the scariest moments I’ve had as a dog owner, GCVS gave me reassurance, transparency, and outstanding care. Their professionalism, communication, and genuine kindness meant everything to me. I would recommend GCVS to ANYONE without hesitation. Experiencia fantástica: I am forever grateful to this team. They were able to save and bring me peace of mind to my most beloved, Bucky. In Nov I had my own health issues where I needed two surgeries and I was out of work. Just not in a good place financially especially after surviving my maternity leave as well earlier in the year and trying to catch up on bills. Then in Dec with christmas, birthdays, and life coming up, my cat had his own emergency. I was stuck in between do I pay for this procedure that may not work? and not be able to afford to put him down comfortably and let him die a painful death at home? or do i just put him down now to save him the pain? this hospital gave my cat a second chance at life and gave me the peace of mind that they would help us if the procedure didn’t work. I could not thank them enough. He is about four weeks post procedure now and doing AMAZING. He is chasing his sticks (he acts like a dog) and playing with his brother just fine now. I don’t know what I would do without him and i’m so thankful that in an incredibly difficult situation they were so understanding, kind, and patient as we tried to figure out how to afford to save Bucky. I would recommend this location to anyone who asks and I appreciate them more than they know. Thank you.

She also has a serious heart condition which makes surgery extremely risky. I walked in not knowing whether she would survive or not. All of the personnel at GCVS are professional, yet compassionate. I have nothing but the highest praise for all of the staff. The medical staff assessed her and created a treatment plan which they presented to me for a decision. I was impressed by their attention to detail and grateful that they explained everything in understandable terms. Thankfully, they were able to perform the surgery successfully. Experiencia fantástica: We brought our dog in this week for pain and difficulty walking. The staff were so amazing right from the start. The front desk staff, Alyssa and Brianna, were incredibly kind and comforting and recognized our dog was in pain right away. Alyssa brought him a bed and blanket to help keep him comfortable while we waited and advocated with us for immediate pain management for our dog. Dr Jucker was able to see our baby and helped get him pain management and admitted so he could see the neurologist. The front desk staff sent us a picture of our baby once we got home and we got a call from the neurologist, Dr Jones, first thing in the morning with her assessment and treatment plan. We were able to pick up our pup later that day already doing a lot better. We met with Dr Jones to go over her care plan and next steps. The front desk staff upon checking out were also so amazing. I have never been treated with such kindness by an animal hospital and truly felt like we got the best care and attention possible. I would not hesitate to bring our pets here for emergency care again. Thanks to everyone on the staff for their wonderful care!

Experiencia negativa: We were referred to this facility by our primary veterinarian for an oncology consultation in late October. Scheduling was straightforward, prior medical records were proactively collected, and the facility itself is well located and well maintained. Unfortunately, our experience with the oncology service was unacceptable. During the visit, it appeared that our dog’s pathology and medical records had not been reviewed in detail, and meaningful discussion regarding diagnosis, prognosis, or treatment options was deferred pending results of a popliteal lymph node aspiration performed that day. We were told we would be contacted within a few days once results were available. When no follow-up occurred, we reached out professionally by email and phone. After multiple attempts over several days, we finally received a call with the aspiration results; the interaction was brief and dismissive. The written visit summary later contained an error identifying the wrong lymph node. While the doctor did acknowledge and correct this when asked, it raised concerns about attention to detail in an oncology setting. After obtaining the additional diagnostic results that the oncologist indicated were needed, we formally requested a follow-up discussion and care plan. Despite the facility’s stated expectation of a 24–48 hour response time, we received no response for over 12 days. The clinic advised that follow-up appointments could not be scheduled through the front desk and required direct physician response via a shared oncology email address. No one responded. The lack of communication was particularly troubling given the time-sensitive nature of cancer care. If the physician was unwilling or unable to continue managing the case, that should have been communicated directly so we could pursue alternate care without delay. We ultimately transferred care to another oncology practice, where the contrast was immediate: thorough review of records, clear explanation of diagnosis and options, and timely, professional communication. While this facility may offer strong services in other departments, based on our experience, we would not return to — nor recommend — its oncology service.

Experiencia fantástica: I really appreciate Dr. Magnotti and the GCVS team. Since my bunny had several issues, we often visited there and they were always nice and cared about us. Last month I took him to the ER, however, my sweetheart passed away due to heart disease. The team kindly allowed me to use their consultation room so I could spend private time saying goodbye to him. In addition, they never charged us for the ER visit that night. I truly believe that it was because of their care, he was able to live a long life, almost 12 years. They not only treated him as a patient, but as a beloved family member. I am deeply grateful to them, and I believe they are the best team in the world.

Experiencia negativa: Absolutely horrible experience at the Emergency vet. We brought our 4 month old puppy who had a facial fracture after a fight over a ball with another dog. Her right eye was swollen with a bone deformity. Initially they said they would try to get us a room to sit with her since she’s a puppy to keep her away from other dogs (she hasn’t had all vaccines). But then they did the opposite and took her back and put her in a kennel. We then asked for her to come sit with us so they brought her back to the waiting room. After 4 hours of waiting someone came out and wanted to check on her and said that she had been triaged really low because of a bite wound on her tail? We looked very confused and explained the bite and impact to her face. Then after 5 hours of waiting we finally saw the vet who didn’t know anything about the bite, said he couldn’t tell if anything was broken because of the swelling but offered to get x rays, but that would be several more hours since she’d need to be sedated and there was no surgeon that would come in over night anyway if something needed fixing. We opted to leave, got x rays elsewhere and have a referral to a surgeon. This is suppose to be the premiere vet office but there is poor communication, understaffing, and they charge you $200 before you ever see a vet so you are prompted to wait and not lose your money. I understand there are emergencies and you may need a wait a while. But after the mis communication and mis triage, I had little faith in this office and glad I could follow up with my primary vet to get the care she needs.

Experiencia fantástica: I was happy to learn just a few days ago that GCVS had opened an office in Webster. Maria Anna, my Maltese, was a patient of theirs at the Katy location several years ago and they along with her fabulous regular Veterinarian who referred us to them worked together to save her life from non-regenerative IMHA. Yesterday evening she developed an non-related emergency because of her sensitive system. Grace was the receptionist who cheerfully greeted us. Amanda was the vet tech that interviewed us and Dr. Flowers was the doctor that saw us. All were exceedingly efficient, clear about the information given to me, sympathetic with Anna's discomfort and most understanding about the costs. The doctor gave me options in the costs and discussed them with me. I totally recommend this establishment and am so very grateful they have opened a branch closer to home.

Experiencia negativa: My dog had emergency surgery at Gulf Coast and was put under the watch of the critical care team post op. We were told the recovery would be a fragile process, and that our dog had a 50/50 chance. Our dog was under the care of Dr. Wilcox. I can’t say enough amazing things about him. He was thorough, transparent, and caring throughout the 3 days our dog was under his care. He took the time to speak with us and help us truly understand what we were dealing with. Throughout those three days, we even began to notice small, positive improvements. The fourth day, Dr. Wilcox was out of office, and our dog was put under another vet’s care. This is where our concerns begin. We stopped getting calls with any updates, and when we called to talk to the vet, she was never able to speak with us. We went to see our dog that next morning and noticed he looked worse than the day before. We asked to speak with the vet. AGAIN, we were denied. Imagine our stress and concern as we notice our dog declining and no one to speak to about it. Later that day, we finally got a phone call from the vet discussing the need to do additional testing, which then turned into needing to do an additional surgery. An hour or so later, she calls back to say our dog coded and had passed. While we knew our dog had a 50/50 chance, his last day is something that haunts us due to the lack of communication we experienced that final day. We were desperate to speak with the vet who was responsible for his care. We question the care he did receive that final day. We will always be disheartened knowing we didn’t even get to say goodbye. I understand things happen, but the lack of communication is not acceptable (especially when you’re paying thousands of dollars, but that’s for another day). I write this to say PLEASE ADVOCATE FOR YOUR PET. SPEAK UP AND DEMAND COMMUNICATION. They are family and deserve to be treated as such. We came in with a great experience at Gulf Coast (despite the circumstances) all for it to make a complete 180.

I booked my appointment over a week in advance, rearranged my work schedule, and even paid a required deposit, only to have the visit canceled the morning of. We rescheduled for another week out, and then they canceled again at 9 a.m. on the day of the new appointment. That’s two separate workdays of mine completely disrupted. What makes it worse is that they tried to casually slot me in the very next day, as if my time and job were theirs to move around at will. I expect far better communication, respect, and basic organization from a specialist clinic. This experience was frustrating, inconsiderate, and absolutely not what I’d consider professional.

Experiencia positiva: We brought our chicken after being attacked by our dog to GCVS and we were very impressed with their services. The staff was friendly and the vet that came to see us was very understanding and knowledge, helped us to take care of our chicken and still not spend an enormous amount of money on our visit. It can very expensive, in fact the initial consultation fee was extremely high priced ($266) just for the vet to see that the matter is. Not sure if we would go back there unless it's life or death situation. Overall pleased with the service, not with pricing. But if you can afford it, that's the place to take your pet.

Experiencia positiva: *This review is specifically for emergency care overnight for exotics/avians* Unfortunately, I do not recommend care at this facility for emergency visits past normal business hours. We have come twice, months apart, and the exotics vet has not been on site, nor has imaging / X-ray services been available. The first time we came, our conure’s toe was bitten by our other conure, and I used a clotting powder to prevent the blood flow. After 3 hours, my conure went back for diagnostics and they were unable to scan his foot or properly diagnose him - we went home thinking his toe was completely missing / bitten off. Once at our usual vet first thing in the morning, they went in to properly treat the wound, and, with cleaning, discovered that it was only a knick hidden under the clotting powder. This would have been nice to know after receiving emergency vet care and spending upwards of $650 at GCVS. Front desk people are always nice, but the behind the scenes folk aren’t as much, which is a shame, considering emergency situations should call for some warmth from the staff who are treating your pet. Anyway, unfortunately just not a good fit for 24/7 avian care needs.

Experiencia fantástica: I would give this hospital a million stars if I could! They saved my baby and he is back to being a puppy again! It’s been 5 months since my dog had an emergency spine surgery and I could not be more thankful to every single person who works at that hospital. From front desk staff to doctors, everyone treated us so kindly and with so much care. My dog stayed in the hospital for three days and I stayed in the waiting room to be close to him. They let me see him twice a day and every time I went in, he was clean, well taken care of and the room never smelled and was always spotless. They assured us that my dog has a 99% chance of recovery if we decided to go with the surgery and they were right! They may be a pricy place but there is a reason for it. The exceptional care they provide is worth the money and you can be sure you are in great hands! I highly recommend this place if you are in need of care for your fur babies!

Experiencia negativa: I took my GSD ton Gulf coast tonight by a referral from my local ER VET. I was told 30 min wait and because of the serious infection my dog needed to be put in a quarantined room. (No problem). Then an hour went by, I went out to the receptionist who were just chitchatting and looking at their phones and asked how much longer, she called the tech and said he needed to put on a PPE and he’d be in there in 30 seconds. Then another half hour went by. I again approach the receptionist who was completely rude and said “we are an emergency facility so if your dogs dying, let me know and I’ll call them right away” This place is supposed to be state of the art and compassionate. I drove over an hour to be shoved in a room, no one came to check on us, receptionist completely rude with zero compassion and more interested in talking with her co-worker. No one loves to bringing their sick pets to an ER let alone be completely dismissed and treated badly by a receptionist. So if I was treated badly from the front desk, I can only imagine how my dog would have been treated in the back. I’m glad I left and will follow up with the management and get better care locally.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog Scooby has suffered from environmental allergies since I adopted him, but they're much worse since moving to Texas in 2024 . After several nasty flare ups, we were referred to Dr. Canning at GCVS. On our appointment day, they had already received his prior test results and vet records, so they did not run any unnecessary additional tests, which my bank account appreciates very much. We were in an out in about an hour and a half. Dr. Canning's staff were able to quickly run the tests he needed, diagnose him, and create a treatment plan, which is specific depending on what your animal is allergic to. Before moving to TX, I had to order serum for his allergy shots from a specialty clinic, and it always took a few weeks to arrive, and I had to pick it up at our vet's office. GCVS has their own in-house pharmacy and can even make allergy serum in their office. It is so convenient to be able to start treatment immediately, and there is no need for a second visit to pick up medication. Overall, I was very impressed with all the staff and am happy we found GCVS! 10/10 - highly recommend!

Experiencia positiva: We went in last night because Snowflake, our Maltese, had another fainting episode. Overall the experience was ok. Dr. Jucker was very informative, empathetic, and professional regarding Snowflake’s condition. We’re glad to have had her in his care. Another professional was the kind lady who got our payment for the X-ray that the doctor recommended. However, even though the front desk representatives at first seemed professional as well, they didn’t keep up their professionalism our entire stay there. As we were waiting for the physical examination to be done, I could hear them sort of laugh amongst themselves about a simple question we had that was going to decide for us whether we checked in Snowflake here or took her to another emergency clinic 10 min away. As someone who has worked in hospitality and customer service for over a decade, I just couldn’t believe that these representatives were so inconsiderate as to talk about our interaction when we could easily hear them. Luckily, I was the only one to understand and hear what they were saying as my family was distracted at the time. I wanted others to know because when someone is already worried about their pet and taking them to an emergency pet clinic overnight, the last thing they want to deal with are unprofessionals who aren’t being empathetic or considerate to what we are going through. This seems like a great place overall to take your pet in case of an emergency, but overall experience matters and I can see now why they are rating closer to 4 stars instead of 5.

Experiencia fantástica: Pricey but worth it when they help save your little ones life. The doctor and team at GCVS were very gentle with my service dog Lucy. She was fine one day and severely sick the next. I will take her there in the future for emergencies outside of her regular vet visits.
