Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Dr. Marquez and his team! The Vet techs were attentive and caring towards my fur babies. Dr. Marquez took his time caring for my pets (Shih Tzu, Pitbull, Doberman), he never rushed the appointment, he explained everything throughly and answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. Fantastic experience: I use to take my dogs there. I love Dr Hopp and Dr Saenz(female) she did spaying of my 9 month old schnauzer. I stopped going because I moved to Horizon City and I dint far anymore. Anyway just curious to know what happened to Dr Saenz? I do highly recommend this place, my Bella would of died if Dr Hopp hadn't intervene, she had tick disease and I didn't even know. I highly recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: Dr Hopp and Dr Klein have always done a wonderful job with our pups. They have taken care from beginning to end and show great compassion to the owners. We lost our boxer in September and had to humanely let him go. Since we have been with them for so long they allowed us to pay once we picked up his remains. They respect the owners and wanted to allow us to leave when we were ready. They have always given choices of treatment and have been spot on when it came to diagnoses. They are very fair with pricing and the entire staff has always been wonderful. Our bulldog has had to have many surgeries and the surgery done by Dr Hopp and Dr Klein has always been clean and without issues. Not only do they care about your pets they care about their clients and make every effort to help in any situation.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Klein is an excellent veterinarian!! She has been taking care of our cats for many years now, and she always gives them the best of care. She's extremely knowledgeable and very experienced. She recently did surgery on our cat Naomi to remove bladder stones and she did a beautiful job!! Naomi did great and has had such an easy recovery, thanks to Dr. Klein and the technicians and staff. All the veterinarians, technicians, and staff of Desert East Animal Hospital are amazing!! They are all so proficient and professional, and they truly love animals!! I highly recommend Desert East Animal Hospital to everyone!!

Fantastic experience: My Roxy is a VERY special part of my life so I want to know that her Dr is going to help me keep her healthy and really does care about her and not just interested in jacking a bill up. Her Dr and the staff are THE BEST in El Paso. How can you not think of the kindness and caring shown by someone who takes special care of your loved one? She even likes coming here (and normally most pets are not thrilled about a place they don't understand). I cannot say enough good things about this entire staff. The degree of their caring is reflected in the way they treat your furry 4-on-the-floor baby and their eyes corroborate this feeling!!! 15 Aug, 25 My sweet lass crossed the rainbow bridge last month. When she left she took a large part of my heart with her. I felt the need to let Dr Klein know so she wouldn't think that I was ignoring my beloved Roxy's needs. I'm so very greatful to the physicians and staff at D.E.A.H. for the care that she always got and the caring feeling she received. They always treated her as though she was theirs. Fantastic experience: Super friendly and helpful staff. Dr. Hopp was great and all staff members from the front desk to the exam room were super sweet and answered all of my questions.

Negative experience: My dog was feeling sick so I took my dog there, and they told me he may have a tumor and advised me to take him elsewhere for a second opinion instead of performing surgery. Prior to that, he required medication a while back, and they instructed me to obtain it from another place. I'm not sure why I even went there. Since the pandemic, their service has been terrible. I don't go there no more.

Fantastic experience: I have not been this impressed with a veterinary before. Friendly people, fast and efficient service, and Dr. Marquez explaining everything at length. My chihuahua got dental work and a Lipoma removed and the price was more than fair. I recommend them.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to (and had family work for) several vet clinics in town and this one is still the best on the east side, even 25 years later. Used to take my childhood dogs here now I take my reactive, anxious boy. He is pleasant and calm with the staff because they are genuine and patient. He gets medication annually that keeps him calm when theirs fireworks. Thank you for giving me and my boy our peace back during the holidays.

Negative experience: Their info states they're open on Saturdays 8a-12pm, so I called 5/31to inquire about cost of spay for my foster dog. Called 4 times and got hung up 4 times & young lady answered on 5th call, sounded annoyed and told me they're closed & to call ack on Monday. I told her the Google info states open on Saturdays 8a-12pm & she said "no, I just came in to pick up something & the phone wouldn't stop ringing" UPDATE YOUR INFORMATION on Google or wherever we search for vets

These doctors don’t take advantage of anyone, they are truly honest people! If your babies don’t need all these extra Exams which raises you bill sky high, they don’t do it, ONLY if necessary!! Negative experience: Incredibly slow service. Waited for an hour and a half. I had to leave to seek treatment for my pet elsewhere because her issue is urgent. Don't waste your time waiting in line here.

Fantastic experience: Completely kind, humane, sympathetic staff at this establishment today that we're the only ones to step up and help end the suffering of a poor cat that was hit and left for dead in the street. After being turned away from two other practices, one because I didn't have the money to pay them to euthanize this poor cat, they were so kind as to take him in and help end h8s suffering. The staff was understanding, sympathetic, and I sincerely appreciate their help.

Fantastic experience: I had been going to this clinic since the 80’s. They're hampered by limited parking, but if you plan ahead, you can come away feeling good about taking your pet there. I suggest arriving early to sign in your pet. They have several very good veterinarians. They truly love our pets and if you've been going there as long as I have, pretty soon they know you by name, as well as the name of your pets. My last visit was for my elderly dog, Jack. Dr. Marquez did the necessary tests and it turns out Jack will be leaving me soon. Dr. Marquez was very caring and empathetic. He explained to me and my daughter what our options are. I took my dog home and will keep him comfortable. But I was very impressed by Dr. Marquez and his patience and compassion.

Fantastic experience: All our family dogs ( and their humans ) have had EXCEPTIONAL care at D.E.A.H. Drs. Hopp & Klein are excellent practitioners, patient with all my furry babies and most compassionate and empathetic when discussing end of life measures. As long as I have dogs in my life, Drs. Hopp and Klein will be the veterinarians of my choice. ( too bad they don't treat humans; I'd most likely seek their care for my medical needs ) . Seriously, excellent care with minimal waiting, superb and clear explanations are the norm at each visit. If you're new to El Paso or looking for a new vet, seek no more ! I recommend them with no reservations.

Positive experience: I took my miniature poodle in because she tore her cruciate ligament. I walked in and there were two people at the desk , two more wondered in shortly after, surprisingly not one single person greeted me or asked me if I needed help, so I just signed in and sat down. Two more people walked in and again no one greeted them either, they just looked perplexed as to why no one was attending to them. Anyway, they finally called me in and evaluated my little Zoey. They did some x-rays and pretty much confirmed what I suspected , her cruciate ligament was probably torn. The veterinarian, who was nice enough, said they could repair it for $1200.00, but to give Zoey 10 days to see how she did on meds.After some care instructions, I proceeded to the counter to pay, again I was not acknowledged other than to be told that it would be a whopping $300.00 for the evaluation and x-rays! Needless to say, my experience there was extremely disappointing, 4 to five people bumping into each other and not one was able to communicate any kind of acknowledgment towards the patients, bad customer service. Will I go back, maybe, maybe not, I’m sure they would probably be indifferent about it either way. Again, Dr. Sainz was ver cordial and professional, so no issues there.

Negative experience: I debated long and hard whether or not I wanted to post this review... but living around the world and in numerous states. Dr. Christopher Knopp and his male vet tech are the worst veterinarian team I have ever experienced. 1 star is generous for the experience i received. The first time I brought my pup here I had an amazing experience with a female vet and female vet tech. They did a full examination on my German Shepard and treated him with such good care. I thought I would receive the same vet experience when I came back... and was I completely wrong. I waited 2 hours before being seen. When the tech came out to bring us in....before introducing himself or asking how we were doing. The vet tech ask do you have a good handle on him. I assured him that I did. My german shepard's breeder specializes in temperants as we have young kids and senior cats. I walked into the clinic and a gentlemen had a chihuahua barking and yapping at my dog. My german shepard did not react. I thought this would show the tech that he is well mannered . I told him to sit on the scale and he did just I commanded even while this tiny dog was trying to lung at my 90lb dog. He asked us to go to the exam room. While in there my dog licked his hand and he just moved away. Dr. Knopp came in and didn't make eye contact with him or me and just looked at the paperwork and asked are you going to neuter him. I told him that he hasn't shown any signs of aggression and our warranty would void with the breeder if he got him neutered before 2 years. But if thing change with his behavior we would consider it. His comment back go me was well male german shepards are the most unpredictable dogs. I did not appreciate the comment, but told him we have a personal trainer for him. And his breeder specializes in temperants. Strangers have walked up to him and he is incredible sweet. He told the vet tech to muzzle him. I told him he's never had one on so this will be new. I told him he's never bitten anyone and has been around infants and seniors and trust me he's very sweet. Dr. Knopp just said well let's keep it at zero. He told me to keep him calm and to keep him away from the walls... ummm have you been in a vet office they are not large and again my dog is 90lbs so he touches pretty much wall to wall. And I've told you he's never had a muzzle on before, so he's this will make him a bit anxious. They administered the vaccines without examining him. After the vaccines were administered I could hear Dr. Knopp make a statement under his breath saying I'm too old for this, as he states just had to give a male german shepard it's shots. My dog didn't even do anything.... other than scoot back as he was injecting a vaccine into this nostrils. And with that he left the room and didn't ask if I had any other questions or concerns. The vet tech told me we will keep the muzzle on him until he gets to the car and to get my dog to quit trying to take the muzzle off with his paw. I looked at him and said this muzzle is giving him anxiety. He said he will walk me to the car where I will drop off my dog and then come back into pay. I told him no, I will not leave my dog in a car with windows up. I told him he has not shown one sign that he is aggressive, and it's not legal to leave a pet in a locked car. He told me to stand outside and he will take my card. I understand that some dogs can be aggressive, but mine showed numerous times in there that he is not! First experience is what got me to come back.... the second with this team can assure I will never return and have told numerous friends to avoid this place especially Dr. Knopp as he had a preconceived thought of german shepards without getting to know mine, which I would have never expected from a vet. If you have a so called aggressive breeder avoid Dr. Knopp and his male vet tech.

Fantastic experience: Great experience. Took our lil Buddy when he got injured. They walked us through what he would need done and were so kind to him. *update: brought spidey... he had to have surgery and they called me before I could even get home to talk about what was going on with him.

Fantastic experience: I had to take our beloved bulldog, Bailey, to get euthanized last week. I have to say that the entire staff was so compassionate and caring. Fantastic experience: They have “Doctors Sign In Hours”Monday through Friday 8-10:30 am and 2-4:30 pm, but the office is open from 7:30-5:30. They are a first come, first serve walk-in basis so be sure to get there early. The parking can be limited. When you arrive, they have a sign in table in front. They have new patient forms to complete right next to the sign in sheet. Then, you and your pets can wait in the comforts of your car until a staff member comes to your car. Everyone was loving and welcoming throughout our visit. A technician takes down all the necessary information and reason for visit. The vet comes into to perform an exam in the exam room rather than other clinics where it’s done in the back where you don’t know the details of what’s completed. We came in for heartworm, flea, and tick medication. Heartworm tests were completed to verify a negative test before writing a prescription for the medication. Even though they weren’t able to provide the medication from their clinic, the vet provided written prescriptions if we can find the medication locally. The other option was online and the clinic would be contacted to provide the prescription, then the medication would be shipped directly to our home. The services were reasonably priced for superb and wonderful service. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic experience: They have a good office system. The staff and doctor are very friendly. They gave my Viszla, Lincoln, lots of TLC. I decided to take Lincoln in during the afternoon pet take in. I think this was better than waking up super early to beat the crowd. I took Lincoln back this year, 2023, for his vaccines. The vet and his assistant were very efficient. Lincoln was diagnosed with allergies. The instructions were clearly given. Lincoln is doing so much better as far as his allergies are concerned.

Fantastic experience: We took our cat, Bibi, to Desert East Animal Hospital for an unknown illness which was pretty severe. She received excellent care and all of the staff was very nice. We will definitely be returning as we rescue cats. Great work Desert East!

Negative experience: I visited on Monday with my husband, and everything was going exceptionally well till we had to checkout. At the end, the receptionist has some serious attitude problems. I was surprised that it wasn't the usual young lady with glasses attending to the front desk instead, it was this older lady that's been there a while. This girl seriously needs to get a reality check. You're dealing with clients, and your behavior reflects poorly on everyone else's fantastic hard work.

Fantastic experience: We had to let my old man kitty go today. It was so hard but the slim blond lady vet was incredibly kind to my husband and I, as was the young man tech. She explained every step and how he would react so there were no surprises. She spoke sweetlytous as we grieved. She's a very good person. We both deeply appreciated her kindness.

They handled her carefully and helped her get her shot for her bee sting. I got seen at a reasonable time, and were really patient with my cat. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Klein is the best in town. She is caring and patient with all types of animals. I've been going to her for many years now and she's taken very good care of my cats, ferrets and feral cats. I recommend her if you want a seasoned veterinarian who cares about your animals!!!

Fantastic experience: The vets and their staff are great and take wonderful care of our little (and not so little) friends. For basic care & services, they take you in the order you signed up, so show up early or be prepared to wait in your car for bit (you might want to bring water and snacks for everyone)

Fantastic experience: Wanted to take the time to say thank you to the team at Desert East Animal Hopital. The Dr and staff did an amazing job taking care of my Husky. Very informative and knowledgeable. If you want your pet to be treated with the upmost love and care, this is the place.

Positive experience: Good Every vet and assistant there is super welcoming and kind. The vets try to explain a dogs needs quite well, very informative. Will recommend things for your pet that you never thought you needed regardless if it’s for more income, it’s good for our pets Bad They should explain the possible side effects to medicines, not go too deep into it but at-least a touch of it. My pet vomited after taking Nexguard fleas and ticks chewable. I researched it as soon as he felt fatigued and itchy. There are actual studies and data stating that the active ingredient (afoxolaner) has caused death, seizures, and most common—vomiting. As a dog parent you trust vets to keep your dog healthy and safe, and although they are medicines that are FDA approved, I think Desert East Animal Hospital should be more educated when it comes to harmful, aversive things. Furthermore, parking should be larger—I shouldn’t have to park in someone’s else’s facility—that’s messed up. And lastly, they add costly charges that rip you off. I was charged 50 dollars for a wellness check when in reality the doctor just checked his heartbeat and asked how he’s been doing. I really don’t think it should be that expensive. If Desert East Animal Hospital or veterinarians want to make profit they should up charge on other things that make sense

Fantastic experience: We have been using this vet for years and they always exceed our expectations and have supported us through everything. Today (a Saturday) we had to take BB in to say our goodbyes. He had been uncomfortable the last few days of his 18 year life and we realized that quality is more important than quantity and needed to make the decision to have him go to sleep. The vet and the vet tech made us feel so comfortable through the whole process and made things so much easier I can’t say how much I appreciate the hospitality and empathy they gave us. They help make the grieving process easier knowing that we made the right decision and had their compassion and support through the process Thank you for making his last moments happy.

Fantastic experience: After spending 1k + on treatment at another vet in EPTX for my 3 pups, and the dogs continuously losing weight, I was desperate to get them help- and thankfully found Desert East. They listened to my concerns, showed compassion for my boys and helped them at an affordable cost. After them no doubt saving my dogs life from a super persistent parasite, I didn’t hesitate to take my Husky back to them when he needed his check up/neuter. The doctors and techs were very sweet and caring, and customers can clearly see how much they love their jobs. I won’t be taking my boys anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Klein and Dr. Hopp have been caring for my dogs for over 15 years. They were so compassionate when I had to put my 13 year old Daisy to sleep. They sent a lovely plant the very next day. Thank you Desert East for loving my animals as much as I do❤️

Fantastic experience: First I would like to thank Dr.Hopp for the incredible patience he has shown my family and I. I rescued a blind Shar-Pei mix. My dog has been at this vet since I rescued him so just about over a year now. We are from Las Cruces so for us the drive is about an hour and 30 minutes. Worth it! We have been to other clinics and they just don’t seem to understand our dog or what he needs. Currently my dog is undergoing heart worm treatment which is very painful for my dog. Dr.Hopp never fails to call me and let me know how my dog is doing while in there care. When I have a thousand questions about what to do with my dog, I will give the clinic a call and they always get back to me the same day, they are very patient. I have read the bad experiences and I think like with many great places you must take the bad with the good so the parking is difficult at times, and the waitlist may have long wait times but when each pet is seen and given amazing care, the parking and waitlist is nothing for us humans to endure. THANK YOU DESERT EAST ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!!!

Negative experience: What a colossal waste of time! First got yelled at by Claudia for signing in wrong, no new patient forms left out. Took my little dog for tooth extraction and cleaning if affordable. Wow $403 can't afford that, but what an uncaring Vet she refused to set just extraction of baby tooth with decay! Claimed plaque in dogs mouth would Not allow! What... having worked at dental office, you give patient antibiotics prior to extraction and after. How could she send us Away knowing he will be in pain Soon in that tooth! So just cause can't afford $403 my baby dog needs to suffer. Where is the logic in That horrible after $90 first exam. No resolution. Such a shame No Care not everyone can afford $403!

Negative experience: Last year, I took my 10-year old female dog to get diagnose, they run labs and told me that nothing was wrong. A couple months later, she died. This July, I took my 11-year male dog for an abscess and a stomach tumor. They run labs and a biopsy in order to tell me what were the next steps to proceed. I was charged with almost $700, sometime later they called and said they had to run the tests again because they did not take big enough sample. I did not take my dog again as they were going to charge me probably the same amount.When I asked about insurance they told me to look online and were not accommodating around financial situations to cover the cost. Sadly, it is very pricey.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service ! Dr. Hopp and Dr. Sáenz very professional. All staff very friendly too they make you feel comfortable. My dog was dying surgery was done by Dr. Hopp. Excellent communication from the process of surgery to recovery. My dog is doing excellent! Thank you!

Positive experience: As a prospective new client, new to the area I was told by another person that this was a great facility. I had arrived early, had my pre-printed/completed forms. Sat in my car as they require. Eventually got to sign in. Received a phone call a bit later and was chastised by the staff member that I did not send the forms to them online and was turned away. This was the very best thing that could have happened to me and my dog. We found another very lovely facility the next day and was seen by polite and professional staff at another vet hospital.

Negative experience: Less than 1 star if it was possible. I was going to visit this Vet as a recommendation from a dear friend who has taken her pets there for years. My interest was peaked when I called and was advised the Vets themselves own 4 frenchies. Great, that's exactly what I am looking for someone experienced with my new puppy. Called early AM about 9 to get information and schedule an appointment. Was advised they are ONLY a walk-in clinic and last intake is at 4pm. About 3pm, I called to ask what the current wait time is for a "walk-in" was advised they only had about a 30-45 minute wait. On my way from Clint, I said. Sure. On the way there it dawned on me how do they see us? Is the lobby open, do we need to wait in the car ect... Called again and said sorry New Mom, how does it work. She said come in with your baby and complete the "new patient" form. I said well great thing is I downloaded it and have it ready. Great see you soon. I arrived to the clinic it was apx 3:45 and proceeded to try to find a parking. (No Parking there of, horrible location) I finally parked and then took down my baby. Went to the front door to be greated by an announcement that they were " No longer taking patients". Huh? I just called 10 minutes ago? A tech came out to deliver med's to a waiting car and I advised her I had just called and they were expecting us. She took my name and went in, a few minutes later came out and said Sorry they were done for the day. I said hey wait a minute I drove over an hour to bring my puppy to be seen and took time off from work? Can I speak to a manager? At that time, the VET is coming outside and notices the challenge I am in. The manager comes out and gives me the same story, they are done. Sorry we wasted your time, money for gas (its not cheap) and time off from work but we can't see your puppy. Seriously? That's how you treat your new patients? No Thank you! They must have so much business they can turn away new patients without a care in the world. and FYI they closed at 5pm. Truly awful experience, I called my friend and she was saddened too since she recommended them. We will be finding another VET who truly cares. I am so disgusted by these get rich Vet's.

Fantastic experience: They've always taken great care of our dog Pocky and go into detail with every treatment or check up. Very friendly staff and you can tell they really care about the animals. Best vet we've been to hands down!

Positive experience: I couldn’t get in with my regular vet so I took my dog here and they were more than willing to see her. The staff was very welcoming and professional. Only negative was you had to wait outside in your car. Other than that everything else was great.

Negative experience: Dr. Hopp said he found fluid in our dogs lungs. He sent her home the same day saying she would "be ok". On the way home she had a fainting episode and had trouble breathing again. I called the clinic and all the staff were in a rush to leave so they kept telling me it was normal and to just bring her back in the morning. Well our Chloe didn't make it. She died that evening. She died because they sent her home when they shouldn't have. We called the next day to tell them and all the staff said was "she didn't seem sick enough". Fluid in the lungs but didn't seem sick enough? I trusted this hospital because my sister has Dr. Crider who has done well with her dog. But maybe that was our first mistake. Maybe we should've gone to Dr. Crider instead. If you feel your dog is sick and have a feeling they're not doing enough, please get a second opinion and do not take their word.

Fantastic experience: I highly reccomend bringing your furry friends to this veterinary office. Dr. Klein has always been so helpful when I bring my dog in and she is always attentive, caring and will always answer any questions I may have. I just feel real good bringing my dog here, I know he will be in good hands.
