Belmont Veterinary Center: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I Love Belmont Vet! Everyone is Professional but also Very Nice, Courteous and Friendly. I don’t have a Problem at all taking My Bella Mae to any of the Staff. They’re all Great!
Thank you for your kind words, Sandy! We're happy to hear that our professional and friendly team has made you feel comfortable bringing Bella Mae to us.
Fantastic experience: Dr. McFarland and staff were very compassionate and professional. Service was excellent.
Negative experience: was told to come in early. came early and was left at the door outside in the cold. when i tried to complain i was told to leave and i would not be alowed back. being the only male in the building at the time make it seem absolutely unfair and completely biased. I did nothing wrong but follow directions.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand how frustrating this situation felt and appreciate the opportunity to clarify. Our hospital opens at a scheduled time, and for safety reasons we are unable to allow entry prior to opening. On the morning in question, there was a misunderstanding around timing, and the interaction became escalated. When situations become heated, our team may ask individuals to leave in order to maintain a safe and respectful environment for staff and clients. This decision was not related to bias of any kind. We strive to communicate clearly and treat everyone with respect, and we expect the same in return. While we regret that this experience was upsetting, we stand by our team and our commitment to a safe workplace. We wish you the best moving forward.
Negative experience: My family has brought our animals here for ~30 years, and the last couple of years they've just gone downhill. No one can keep anything straight between reception, tech, and Drs. Most recently I have been trying to order two prescription foods from Chewy which they've approved for years online. They started only approving one food and not the other. I called, was told that they would notify a tech. Nothing. Called back a week later, was told they would check with a Dr, and a tech would call back. Nothing. I called today and was told they no longer approve prescriptions online. Okay, why didn't you say that. Ask if authorization could be emailed to me - nope, I have to go pick it up. They said they'll get it ready, I told them I'd stop by in ~30 mins. I get there and am told the Dr is gone until Monday. But they let me buy a bag of food there. Absolutely ridiculous. I bet I'll have to come pick up records when we find a new vet only to come in to nothing ready lol. It's a mess there now. Don't even get me started on wait times lol.
Negative experience: They'd rather kill your pet then help it.
Fantastic experience: They are served by very nice people
Fantastic experience: I brought my dog Luka in here right as they were closing because of a bad injury. Not only did they help me, they stayed with me and Luka for a long time when they didn’t need to. They got him fixed up enough to be transferred overnight to the emergency vet. I can’t express my gratitude to them for immediately dropping what they were doing to help my boy out. Thank you to all who were working tonight! Dec 4th, 2025
Thank you for your kind words! We're happy to hear that our team was able to assist you and Luka during such a critical time.
Fantastic experience: My dogs absolutely love the gals at Belmont they are so good with them !! My kids are picky about who touches their paws and have no problem with these guys.
Fantastic experience: It was nice. Clinic is very clean and inviting. The girls behind the desk are kind. They treated my Coco very well. I recommend it you everyone.
Thank you for your kind words, Rita! We're happy to hear that our clean and inviting clinic, along with our kind staff, provided great care for Coco.
Fantastic experience: This place was absolutely amazing. The staff was great and very supportive.
Fantastic experience: A great veterinary clinic - I've been a client for about 25 years and have always got great service.
Fantastic experience: My cats have been going here for years. The care given at Belmont is exactly what your beloved pets deserve. I have mostly seen Dr. Haug, who is just so good with nervous cats, comforting to humans and communicates very clearly. Today, I saw Dr. O'Connor for the first time and she was just as wonderful. You can really tell that these two care deeply about animals and their people and I'm sure the same goes for the other doctors.
Thank you for your kind words, Hollie! We're happy to hear that Dr. Haug and Dr. O'Connor have provided comforting and clear care for your cats, and we appreciate your trust in our team.
Negative experience: Had my dog boarded there from Thursday-Saturday. When I came to pick up my dog at noon on Saturday they told me they vaccinated her with 3 different vaccines that she already had 2 weeks prior. On the boarding form I even said I had her all up to date on vaccines they never called for consent or to verify at all and tried to charge me for vaccines they did without my permission!!!
Olivia, we’re very sorry for the confusion surrounding Luna’s recent boarding stay. At the time, our records did not show that her vaccines were current, and based on our boarding policy, vaccines are given when documentation isn’t available. This led to her being vaccinated again in error. Once you provided us with her recent records, our doctor confirmed she was already up to date, removed all related charges, and reassured you that Luna would be just fine. While we do have policies in place to ensure pets are protected if vaccine records are not available, we should have double-checked the information provided on your boarding form and clarified before proceeding. We sincerely apologize for the oversight and for not communicating with you sooner. We are addressing this with our team to prevent similar issues in the future. Thank you for bringing it to our attention and for giving us the chance to clarify.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff and affordable care. The doctor and technician took the time to answer my questions and concerns and everyone made sure my dog was comfortable at all times. Exam rooms were clean and bright. Happy to call Belmont our new vet home!
Thank you for your kind words, Cassandra! We're happy to hear that our team provided friendly and affordable care, and we're delighted to be your new vet home.
Negative experience: when i went to pick up my deceased 4 month old kitten’s ashes, the front desk ladies barely even spoke to me. i walked in, stood there awkwardly waiting to be acknowledged, and when i told them i was here to pick up my kitten’s ashes, they wordlessly went and grabbed them. then they put them on the table and went back to work, not an ounce of compassion or sympathy was shown towards me. my dog has already switched vets but i truly do hope something is done about the treatment i received. nobody that has lost a pet should be treated that way especially when they’re grieving.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff.. my dog loves them lol I often take him here to be kenneled/boarded. They actually care about there pets that stay over with them, as opposed to other places I have tried. They ha e a radio going for him at all times, photos of him while kenneled to easy my mind. Ty so much Belmont Vet staff !!!!
Thank you for your kind words, Brenda! We're happy to hear that your dog loved our friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: I love Belmont Vet! We've been taking our three pets there for the last several years for both regular check ups and more significant health issues. The folks at Belmont have been consistently warm/kind and helpful/informative. So grateful for their care of our creatures!
Thank you for your kind words, Hannah! We're happy to hear that our team has consistently provided warm, kind, and informative care for your pets over the years.
Fantastic experience: I love Belmont! I've been going here since I first got my kitten, per recommendation from a friend. All the staff and doctors are so welcoming and friendly. They always take great care of my cat and make sure he's feeling comfortable. If you don't know where to go, I would definitely recommend going here!
Thank you for your kind words, Jessica! We're happy to hear that our welcoming and friendly staff have taken great care of your cat, and we appreciate your recommendation.
Fantastic experience: Best vet in Nebraska! My dog loves Dr. McFarland—he’s one of the rare, truly gentle veterinarians who takes the time to let her feel comfortable before starting any exam or treatment.
Fantastic experience: My dog is terrified of going to the vet. They are patient, compassionate and work quickly. Prices are fair and our wait wasn't very long either.
Negative experience: This was the closest place and only place open for business at the time, right between the ER vet closing and any other vet office being open for business. this was the only place to go in the emergency my cat was experiencing. My cat was suffering from a blood clot thats pretty common in old age and had to make the decision of euthanizing him due to quality of life declining afterwards. i was under the impression that when a pet is euthanized they administer a shot or two and its as peaceful and painless as possible. This place brought ny cat in the room in a transparent plastic storage tote with a hose in the lid that was attached to some machine. They said that its difficult to administer shots in cats because they would have to shave the hair and find the vein or some pitiful excuse like that. As if it was an inconvenience for them opposed to someone bringing their loved one to them to euthanize them isnt an inconvenience at all. So they then proceed to turn the machine on that had, to my understanding, a gas of some kind for lack of a better word, into the tote that ultimately would end his life. That wasnt the case though in this situation. my cat started to freak out and tossled around in this thing while one of the techs held down on the lid. The supposed "vet" tried blaming it on the machine not being properly connected to their state of the art death box as the reason why my cat was reacting the way he did.I had to leave the room after almost losing my mind confronting them about their barbaric and archaic form of procedure. I know i am no doctor of animal science and have no experience in the field of expertise but with how far advancements in the world of medicine and science THAT method was the most effecient and preferred? It was one of the most traumatic experiences in my life watching that as if ANYONE would opt in to see their loved one being tortured slowly by who knows what was used versus something like a sedative and some injectable that is painless and less dramatic. I PLEAD anyone who considers taking their loved one here for ANY reason big or small take them anywhere else in town than here. The vet techs even had a sense of empathy for us just the way they expressed their sympathy and the side eyes they gave this looney toon of a vet. He was an older guy that looked like bernie sanders if anyone wants to doubt my claim. DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE TO THIS PLACE.
Fantastic experience: Love the people and their obvious concern for my little Zya.
Fantastic experience: It was a great first impression. We brought our little puppy, Sadie, here for her first exam. Everything was thoroughly explained and repeated. The Doctor was very kind and gentle. Sadie didn't cry or whine and she was given treats to calm and distract her. She was tired after her shots but no negative reactions. I hope the next time we go, she will be excited to see her Doc.
Thank you for your kind words, Kellie! We're happy to hear that Sadie's first visit went smoothly and that she felt comfortable with our team. We look forward to seeing her again!
Fantastic experience: I am a first time owner and Belmont Veterinarian animal center made me feel like I have been doing this forever. Belmont made me feel more secure about owning an animal, as well as helping me with the responsibilities of keeping Xetch healthy thanks Belomont Animal Spirits love you.
Fantastic experience: We love Belmont Veterinary Center. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We've had excellent experiences here and will continue to bring our kitties in as long as we live in the area. Prices for visits/procedures are very reasonable as well.
Fantastic experience: I absolutely ADORE Allison O'Connor and the whole staff. They are so nice with my little kitty and I will 100% continue care through them :) thanks for all you do
Fantastic experience: Dr. O'Connor is fantastic. Like I genuinely think she's the best. She truly cares about these animals and I'm so so glad that I'm able to work with her. My cat has never been the biggest fan of vets, but I can tell she trusts Dr. O'Connor :) I started coming to Belmont because: 1) I moved to a different part of town and it's much closer and 2) because a couple of my work friends also bring their pets to Belmont and speak of Dr. O'Connor VERY highly. I made the switch and it's been great ever since! :) Thank you for making your clinic a safe place for us <3
Negative experience: My wife took our green cheek conure in today for a beak trim. Our appointment was at 430 pm and was not seen until after 515 pm. Not only did she wait over 45 minutes, when they finally did her trim My wife was asked to hold our bird (no problem at all with this) but the reasoning behind this was because the person that is the bird "specialist" was out and that "all of the other staff are scared of birds" When clipping her beak, they also made her bleed due to using dog clippers. The fact that you have a bird on your main website stating "best in class care" and do not know how to properly take care of them is very misleading. The only thing I can give them kudos on is they discounted the visit due to the extreme wait time.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful, caring, and compassionate care team. They always take your interests and preferences into account, and are relatively affordable
Thank you for your kind words, Dakota! We're happy to hear that our team provides compassionate care and considers your preferences while remaining affordable.
Fantastic experience: Great place, very knowledgeable staff, reasonable pricing and convienent hours, also they do boarding and that's a plus !! Take all 3 of my dogs there and couldn't ask for better care !!
Fantastic experience: The staff at Belmont Veterinary Center are always kind, helpful and very caring about their pet patients. Appointments are always easy to make, very accommodating. They also provide follow up phone calls after your visit to check up on how your pet is doing. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: I bring my ferrets here and they treat them so well! Couldn’t ask for anything more.
Thank you for your kind words, Cassie! We're happy to hear that our team provides great care for your ferrets.
Fantastic experience: Great place! Staff is so nice and always answers my questions or concerns regarding my pet
Thank you for your kind words, Jeni! We're happy to hear that our team is always able to address your questions and concerns.
Negative experience: I was asked a couple of months ago if I would like to have my dog take an optional anti Co vid vax and declined. When I came in this last time I washed asked if I would like to have both of my dogs take what they called canine influenza. I asked the vet tech if that was the dog Co vid and was told it was not. So I agreed to letting them take the vaccine. After getting home and looking up what each shot was out of curiosity I discovered that the vet tech had lied to me and that it was indeed the dog Co vid vaccine.
Fantastic experience: They squeezed me and my American Bully puppy last second while I was in town! They were amazing and so sweet! 10/10!!
Thank you for your kind words, Brittney! We're happy to hear that our team was able to accommodate you and your puppy and that you had a great experience.
Positive experience: Staff are welcoming and friendly however we have been generally unimpressed with the service provided. We often wait for 20-30 minutes past scheduled appointment times before being seen. We’ve taken on dog to this clinic 5 or 6 times now. I think we have been seen within 5-10 minutes of our appointment time only once. This is especially inconvenient as I work in patient care and have a patient load of my own that I need to be able to return to seeing in a timely manner. We recently had our dog spayed. The spay cost nearly $600. This did not include a follow up appointment but did include additional charges for this like laser treatment to facilitate proper healing. We have since experienced issues with healing and suture not dissolving. We have had to return for spay follow up care 3 times. We took her in to have undissolved sutures clipped back. During this appointment nothing was done as they could not get a hold of the sutures. Several weeks later we had to return for antibiotics ($25) as one of the areas where sutures remained (more than a month later) had become infected. A week later she had to be seen again to evaluate the condition of the surgical site following antibiotics. We waited 20 minutes for a 5 minutes exam and were charged another $43 dollars. Three follow ups requiring time away from work and a drive across town could have been reduced to one if routine follow-up was included in the spay treatment plan. My parents have my dogs littler mate and paid less than $400 for the same procedure and more complete care including a 14-day follow up when remaining suture material was removed to reduce the risk of complication. Regardless of whether or not follow-up care is included in the treatment plan I don’t feel it’s appropriate to charge an additional $60+ dollars for follow-up care after the occurrence of complications. Especially considering we brought her in to address the issue proactively 3.5 weeks following the surgery and nothing was done at that time. While we appreciate the welcoming environment created at Belmont Vet we struggle with the quality and continuity of care being provided to our dog.
Fantastic experience: I’ve always taken my fur babies here, even saying goodbye to them, the care of the staff and Drs give always is awesome and outstanding!!!!
Fantastic experience: All of the veterinarians that our cats have seen at the Belmont Veterinary have been great! We have been taking all of our cats there since 2013. They were very caring and compassionate when we lost two of our beloved cats, one to cancer in 2019 and one to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in 2024. We highly recommend taking your pets there!
Fantastic experience: My street kitten has a tapeworm and they got me in within 2 days. The staff was amazing and so friendly holding my cat and helping me carry her stuff, gave her treats love and a calming spray blanket. I adore the staff. They gave her a rabies shot, tape worm medicine, and round worm and flea treatment just to be safe even though she didn’t test positive for it. She has 2 more shots to go and to be fixed. Loving them so far!
Thank you for your kind review, Ray! We're thrilled to hear that our team provided such attentive and caring service for your kitten, and we look forward to continuing her care.
Fantastic experience: In 2016 we lost our beloved Hollie at age 4 due to a tumor wrapped around her liver. Belmont vet delivered flowers to our door. On november 21 2024 Zoey who had been coming to belmont vet i believe since she was a pup, unfortunately had to be put down at the age of 16 for having cancer for the second time with 2 mass tumors. She had Cancer before in her one eye and had to be removed, Zoey was a trooper through everything. Not only did they get to spend special years with us and Zoey, but they comforted us and helped us through this hard time having to say goodbye to our furr baby. Thank you belmont vet for everything and we will always be coming to you with our babies. and rest in peace to my beautiful girl Zoey, and Hollie.
Positive experience: Most of the time, I feel like they are just out to make money and not care for your pet, they can be quite pushy with other services that are not necessary and costly. Also not impressed with the front desk staff. They do accommodate the fact that one of my dogs does not like males.
Fantastic experience: Last few times we came in we had Dr. Trisha Rucker-Buchli, super friendly and communicative, she handled our Shibas like a pro, highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: My sweet Girl wasn't feeling good so we needed for find a vet fast. Everyone at Belmont was amazing. So kind, thoughtful and thorough. Iz absolutely LOVED the entire staff so much that she figured out how to open the door to get back to them they treated her so well. Highly recommend!
Thank you for your wonderful review, Nicole! We're delighted to hear that Iz had such a positive experience with our team at Belmont Veterinary Center.
Fantastic experience: Staff was great with Dixie! She is a very hyper girl and everyone was so sweet and calm with her! Excellent experience, we will definitely see you guys again!
Fantastic experience: Did an excellent job with my Feral Cat Loverboy. He was an emergency and he was seen quick between other appointments. Thank You for the wonderful service!
Thank you for your kind words, Jeanette! We're glad we could provide quick and excellent care for Loverboy during his emergency visit.
Negative experience: I will not be back after your miss diagnosis on Maggie. Several times you accused us of not loving our dogs and blaming their food for the vomiting and diarrhea. After thousands of dollars spent at your clinic we went to a different vet and it cost us less than $30 to find out Maggie was stage 4 kidney failure caused by treatment of heart worms. She was abused long before we adopted her. The only reason I will eventually forgive you is because I have to but I will never forget what you put us through.
Dear Gloria, we are truly sorry to hear about Maggie's diagnosis and understand how upsetting this situation must be for you. We last saw her in December 2023, and while we aim to provide the best possible care, we regret that your experience with us did not meet your expectations. We wish you all the best going forward.
Fantastic experience: Belmont vet has a superb team of people working. Of course, like with any vet these days it can be quite expensive, but I know I am paying for good care at Belmont.
Thank you for your kind review Jillian! We're pleased to hear that you value the care provided by our team at Belmont Veterinary Center.
Negative experience: This was our dog’s first and only appt. Recently moved to NE and needed to find a new clinic. The vet and vet tech were both friendly and understood the concerns we had for our pet as he was born with renal dysphasia. The clinic administratively is poorly managed. It is also clear the hospital manager doesn’t care about customer service or patient concerns. We were told we would be notified with the lab results within a day or two, which is understandable as a send out. With the holiday and weekend, I expected a little longer. I find out 6 days later the results were in same day. I was also told the vet wasn’t in since the appt, so couldn’t give us the results until day 7. When speaking to the hospital manager, the vet was in on day 5, just didn’t call us. On day 7 we get told our animal needs medication, but we could get at CVS or Walgreens. That wasn’t true. Couldn’t even fill it at Kohll’s. I call to ask if the clinic can fill or if they know somewhere to fill it. After a few long holds and re-explanation, they submit it to Wedgewood. Later I find that they submitted the prescription for a different animal. The hospital manager stated this is a Wedgewood issue which seems funny since they had my right phone number and email. I tried asking the hospital manager if all of this is normal practice or a series of unfortunate events. She told me that lab results typically come from the vet who saw the animal. Must not have been an emergency since they didn’t ask someone else to call. (Standard poodle now at 36.5lbs, normal is 60-70lb. He now needs medication and his lab values are double what they were last year when already elevated. But you know, not an emergency.) She also stated she didn’t know where to get medication filled at when I suggested not telling customers inaccurate information. Her defensiveness really showed when she stated, “What do you want ma’am?” I thought I was clear of the issues and suggestions. Never once an apology from her. She is clearly in a role she has no experience for. Our last vet clinic didn’t seem to have these issues for our dog’s 3 years of visits.
Fantastic experience: Took my 8 year old anti-social Chiweenie in for his annual check up and vaccinations. The Tech was very gentle with him and he fell in love with her. The Dr. was also gentle with him and he behaved admirably. This is the best clinic I have taken any of my dogs to.
Thanks Jacqueline!
We are incredibly grateful that you took the time out of your day to leave us this 5-star rating.
Fantastic experience: Dr. McFarland is simply the best and is an absolutely amazing vet. Very compassionate and empathetic. He always takes extra time to listen and you can tell he truly cares, both about your pet but also about you as a person. While I always appreciate his expert veterinary knowledge—it’s his own personal insight that sets him apart from other vets. He talks to you like you’re a person and not just the next patient on a list. Please give that man a raise.
Hi David, Thank you for your heartfelt review! We're thrilled to hear about your positive experiences with Dr. McFarland and appreciate your kind words about his compassionate care.
Fantastic experience: The doctors and everyone else at Belmont are all friendly and great with pets. My dog may not always want to be there, but she's always happy to see everyone. When she's sick, they try their best to squeeze us in so my girl doesn't have to wait an extra day to start feeling better. And they always call a day or two after a sick visit to check in and make sure she's doing okay and see if I have any questions or concerns. Just amazing service! I tell everyone I know that gets a new pet or is looking for a new vet to go here! They can't go wrong with any of the doctors (and we've seen them all by now!)
Fantastic experience: Dr. O'Connor (and the staff) are wonderful! She cares deeply about providing the best care as well as setting the owners up for continued successful pet care through education, follow-ups, and recommendations. I highly recommend her and Belmont!
Fantastic experience: I have been going to Belmont vet for many years and have always had great service. They have taken wonderful care of my two cats. They are kind and professional.
Fantastic experience: Belmont Vet has been my vet choice for over 15 years. They’re so kind and helpful treating my dog with gentle care. With my first dog, he passed away over a weekend at an emergency center. By 9 a.m. Monday, the doctor called me to talk. I was blown away by their compassion. They are always able to get me in on a schedule that fits my day. So when I added a new member to the family, there was no doubt of where to go. You should consider bringing your furry family members here.
Negative experience: We used this vet for the one year that we lived in Lincoln and had nothing but bad experiences. 1. The first time we went they needed her records from our previous vet which I provided. What I didnt realized is that they falsified our records and moved up expiration dates on our dogs vaccinations. Our previous vet had given her vaccines that were good for 3 years and they changed all of them to 1 year. When the time came to get them redone, I noticed this changed and they were not happy that I found this and hesitant to change them back. They said "well we always do one year vaccinations". I said "I do not care, this is what she has and I am not going to give her vaccines she doesn't need. 2. When we went in for her annual vaccines (the ones that she actually needed) I was upset to learn that though we were paying close to 200 dollars and had some general health questions you still don't get to see the actual vet. 3. The final straw. We were out of town and our dog developed an eye infection. We knew exactly where she got it from as she had the same infection 9 months ago with the same exact circumstances. I called Saturday and explained the situation. I was meant with we can't do anything for you and even if we could the only doctor that can write you a script has to be the same exact doctor that saw your dog 9 months ago. Now tell me why you have a practice with several doctors if you have to same the same exact one write the prescription. I called back on Monday since the symptoms had not subsided and we were out of town. They said we could send a script through chewy. I ordered it and then Tuesday it was still not processed. I ended up ordering the wrong one which is why they didnt process it. Did Belmont call me and tell me I had ordered the wrong one... NO. I had to call and ask. The one I needed on chewy was out of stock so on Tuesday (4 days after my initial call) they tell me they can send me one directly from them. My dog has been uncomfortable now for 4 days and they finally offer to help. They say they are going to overnight it but it doesn't arrive till Thursday. I don't believe they sent it out early enough to have it processed on time as I asked for the tracking number. There was no communication, no care for our dog and no care for us at patrons. I am so disappointed with our entire year long experience here and would suggest Lincoln locals go elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: Being an over the road truck driver is stressful and my little man got hurt on our new steps Belmont veterinarian center understood my situation and was quick to help me. They took very good care of my little guy and made him comfortable after he messed up his nails. Mr. Kado will be eternally grateful.
Thank you for trusting us with Mr. Kado's care during such a stressful time. We're so glad we could help him feel better and appreciate your kind words.
Fantastic experience: Dr O'Connor and staff are very friendly and compassionate!! They're trying to help keep my pets comfortable in the end stages of life. That means so much to my heart ❣️
We are deeply touched by your words and honored to support you and your pets during this sensitive time. Thank you for trusting Dr. O'Connor and our team with such an important part of your life.
Fantastic experience: Brownie is a 9-year old Pug that's been to Belmont since he was a pup. We moved away for a bit and then came back and everything was the same maybe even better than before! They're very caring no matter the Vet Doctor that's available that day to visit with Brownie. I also LOVE the front desk personel whom i wish i cajoled recall their name. It's a gentleman with light colored hair and glasses always giving the best customer service :) very bright smile and charming empathetic voice
Fantastic experience: I am forever grateful for saving Petree's life on Thursday when I came in off the street in a panic because there was something wrong with him with no money and being homeless... They put his life before money.. We definitely need more vets like this!!!
Negative experience: We took our dog here a last week when she had rabidly lost weight she had been constant throwing up and having diarrhea non stop. we were afraid she had worms again because she had worms as a puppy. we told the vet she might have worms. she was experiencing all of the same side effects of her having worms and when I called them they said yeah we will test for worms and parvo just to be sure because she is still young I said that’s fine and when we got there it was only about parvo I did NOT think she had parvo and I told them that as she wasn’t that sick at all. she wasn’t as sick as dogs I’ve seen with parvo I asked about worms and then they basically told us we were not experts and that it was parvo and shut me down every time I said could she have worms. So my boyfriend got extremely upset because we were told that our dog would possibly have to be hospitalized and we didn’t have the money for that at all. they told us that if we took care of her at home there was a 10% survival rate. they kept saying it was probably parvo note they where not sure what was wrong with her and I kept asking is it worms and they’d shut me down. They then thought she could have a blockage cuz her stomach was tight and she didn’t so they went back to parvo they kept saying to keep her there over night but again we didn’t have the money for a 5000$ stay and then 500 dollars of parvo testing and x rays they finally did a worm test after I was like what about worms I want a worms test they came back not even 10 minutes later and guess who had worms and guess who wasn’t dying of parvo. They told us our dog was in great danger and they used it to get money off us even tho we knew what was wrong! This isn’t the first time my family went here and they kept trying to do tests to get money. My aunt took her dog here and they kept making her do random tests and bloodwork and basically everything they could do and the bill was 1000 dollars just for them to say the dog had a “tummy ache” (also this wasn’t the vet I originally wanted to take her to but it was an emergency and no other vet would take her right away bad choose on my part :(
Fantastic experience: The vet and tech were very patient and gentle with both of my dogs. Drew is a big baby and won’t bark, growl or bite and gets scared, but the tech hugging him made him feel reassured while they stretched his leg and cleaned/applied drops to his ear.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are glad to hear that our vet and tech were patient and gentle with your dogs, especially with Drew, who gets scared easily. We appreciate your feedback and hope to see you and your dogs again soon.
Positive experience: They’ve grown on me. Can be pricey but I genuinely believe they care about the dog as much as we do. Edit: only the doctors seem to care. Receptionist and vet techs are rude and treat (me) like I’m less than. Not good communication at entry. Wish it could be different.
Fantastic experience: Called and had to discuss my dogs end of her journey, hard phone call to make the lady I spoke with made me feel a little better and was so helpful and informational. Highly recommend this place my dog has gone there many times and received the best care.
Fantastic experience: Nova and I are very happy with the treatment we received at Belmont. I learned a lot about kittens and Novas needs to keep her safe and healthy. The staff is so friendly and takes the time to explain everything. Thank you Belmont veterinary hospital and services, we have found our home for all our needs.
Fantastic experience: Silky loves to have a spa day with them! It's nice to have services in one office.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely wonderful place. We have been so fortunate to get amazing care for our dogs. The whole team is wonderful!!
Hi John,
Thank you for leaving us such a wonderful review! Our team members will be so glad to hear of your kind words. Thank you, once again, for sharing your experience.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Haug is amazing, he did a great job sitting down with us and asking questions about our pet and what has been happening at home. He reviewed the findings with us and gave us ideas of what to expect. He was very kind and staff was understanding of our situation.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that Dr. Haug provided a thorough and helpful consultation. Thank you for choosing our veterinarian services!
Fantastic experience: We’ve been patients for 10 years. We’ve recommended friends and family. WE LOVE THE STAFF and the care and concern they show for our Abbie!!! We wouldn’t take her anywhere else!!
Thanks Jan!
We are incredibly grateful that you took the time out of your day to leave us this note. Our top priority is client satisfaction and we’re happy to hear of your experience. Thank you for your loyal support!
Fantastic experience: My cat of 14 years passed away, and we took him here to be cremated. I picked up his ashes yesterday and they came in a dark blue bag, inside was a dark blue velvet bag and a card. The card shared their condolences, information about grief, and how to contact help if needed. It also contained half a (gold metal) heart with a note letting me know the other half was with my cat's ashes, so although we're separated, we're never apart ❤️ I really appreciated that, sometimes a simple gesture can make a huge difference to someone so thank you for that!
Thank you, Tasha, for taking the time to share your experience and for your kind words. We are sorry for your loss, and we're glad that our gesture could provide some comfort during this difficult time.
Fantastic experience: The staff here are great! Very friendly and knowledgeable. I always know my fur babies are in good hands at Belmont Vet.
Tianna, we strive to provide consistent quality of care. We are happy to know that you feel your furry family is in good hands. Thanks for trusting us!
Negative experience: They don't care about your animal.... they just want your money. Been taking my dogs here for 5 years and within the last year everything has changed. Your better off finding a vet that cares about your pets well being.
Hi Jason,
We are sorry to see you feel that way about our services. We always have the best interests of our clients in mind. Unfortunately, because same day appointments are unable to be planned for, there is an extra exam charge associated with them. We did offer a next day appointment, but you did not want to do that. We’re sorry, again, to see that you are so disappointed with your experience and wish you and your dogs all the best.
Fantastic experience: I trust Belmont vet center completely. With multiple pets now I've had emergency situations, and their staff and doctors are extremely professional, knowledgeable, and comforting. It's not a fancy facility, but the techs, receptionists and doctors have gone above and beyond with communication and making sure my pets are well cared for. I especially recommend Dr. Kenneth McFarland, who has helped me through late life emergency situations with two cats now with a lot of grace and compassion. Thank you Dr. McFarland and Belmont staff !
Fantastic experience: I recently had to take my young cat in because she wasn't acting right, they found she had a stomach full of ponytail holders and had to do surgery. They were very friendly and willing to work with me on payment for this emergency surgery and gave me a list of places to call for help.
Fantastic experience: Came here for the cat grooming service. It's hard to find a good groomer for felines and they did a great job.
Fantastic experience: I love how quiet it is in the waiting room & in the patient rooms during our visits. That really helps keep my cats calm before, during & after their visit. All of the staff is very friendly and love the animals they get to see.
Fantastic experience: First time bringing our new puppy. Was welcomed as soon as we entered. Professional but very welcoming. Dr. McFarland and his staff were wonderful. Thank you for making it so comfortable for not just Me and my daughter But especially for our Fur baby
Positive experience: This is the only vet clinic I have been to in Lincoln. I take my dogs there for vaccinations and boarding, never had any issues. I have been going to Belmont for at least a decade. I like using the pet desk app for appointments and the staff have always been polite.
Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us! We appreciate your loyalty to Belmont and we're glad to hear that you find our staff polite and enjoy using our PetDesk app for appointments.
Fantastic experience: I’m a first time pet owner and I really felt like my kitty was in good hands here! They explained everything they were doing when they were doing it which I appreciated. Very happy with this vet center!
Fantastic experience: I took my cat in because he had a little cough and it was found out that he has an enlarged heart that had absolutely nothing to do with his cough. I'm so grateful that it was detected when it was because who knows how long it could've gone undetected. It was also detected early enough that it's not life threatening and we have time to run diagnostic tests. Never taking my animals anywhere else.
Negative experience: I had high hopes for this vet. Our cat needed his shots and we liked the connivence of booking the appointment online. The appointment was okay, quick and done. About a week later we noticed a rash start. We called the vet back after noticing the rash wasn’t improving and our cat was getting more and more frustrated. I called and explained he just had his shots, asked if it was possible to be a reaction. I had asked how much the appointment would be, reasonable question considering we had JUST taken him there and was fine. I was told $20 plus the cost of the medication. My husband took our cat in and basically we got no answers but prescribed antibiotics and a three day course. That was over $100. Nothing improved. And when they called to inquire how he was doing I explained it hadn’t gotten better and asked how long we should wait to see if there is improvement- the person on the phone didn’t know, and she said the vet wasn’t there. They did call back and said they spoke the vet and to bring him in for a fungal culture because it could be ringworm. Basically, my frustration is, you don’t know what it is- your “exams” are too quick and you continue to bill without any resolution or answers. If there was a concern of it being ringworm why wouldn’t you have tested before prescribing such a short regimen? I understand cost of services and medication but this place just doesn’t seem to be very thorough and I am not willing to continue to spend money when there seems to be no desire to really fix the issue but keep billing and billing.
Dear Ash,
We apologize for any frustration you experienced during your visit with us. We assure you that we take all concerns seriously and we appreciate your feedback. We always strive to provide the best service possible to our clients. We’re sorry, again, and wish you and your cat all the best.
Negative experience: I started out by bringing my bulldog in for concerns about her eye. After 5 visits and seeing 4 different Drs. Many different drops and meds and spending $900. Still has not been resolved. Last visit the Dr said if I was planning on getting her spade we could evaluate her eye better at that time and fix what they might find, because she could not see much in the office. So $516 later they spade her but did not do anything with her eye that they had explained to me. Reason being they tried to call and got no answer. First of all no one ever said they'd call and need permission! I thought this was all decided on our last visit. Then gave me an estimate of $700 for another surgery to her eye that may or may not fix the problem!! So was very disappointed with that. So $1600 later my puppy is now spade but still suffering with pain and discomfort in her eye. Untill I can afford to take her to another vet. I would not recommend this place to anyone!!!
Fantastic experience: I love the friendly staff. They have never pushed any treatment or such on me. I have come in a panic a few times and were able to get me in immediately. I think they are reasonable in pricing as well. I always recommend them.
Fantastic experience: I seriously LOVE this vet. They always take such good care of my kitties, and I feel so heard when I come in with questions. They know how much pets mean to their owners, and do a great job of taking concerns seriously. Highly recommend!
Haley, we really appreciate you supporting us by sharing your experience at Belmont Veterinary Center with the community.
Fantastic experience: They were wonderful with my, very shy and skittish cat; who was also very sick at the time. You can tell they know what they're doing, and really do care about the animals they take care of. I was also able to get some assistance from animal control for vet bills which really helped out, and they worked with them to help me. All around a great place to take your pets.
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend you consider Belmont Veterinary for your veterinary needs, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and it's clear to us that everyone at #belmotveterinary love and cares about the pets and their owner's welfare. And, If you're looking for a skilled groomer or daycare, BV should be on your list of options to consider. 5 Stars all around. #fairprices #grooming #daycare #caringstaff #excellentservice #veterinay
Hi James,
Thank you for leaving us such a wonderful review! Our staff will be so glad to hear of your kind words. Thank you, once again, for sharing your experience.
Negative experience: Dont board your pets here, especially not pocket pets. They had an exotic vet when they boarded my guinea pigs. Less than a week later the exotic vet left and no one notified me. Three weeks later I picked up my guinea pigs and one of them had gut stasis, bumblefoot, anorexia, and her teeth were overgrown from not eating. I could not save her, she died within a week. I paid them what they quoted me, anyway. They overcharged me and sent me to collections for the remaining balance.
Robyn, we are so sorry for your loss. We understand it's never easy to lose a beloved pet. We take all negative reviews seriously, and the experience you shared was very concerning to us. It is true that Dr. Rifer is no longer at our clinic, but we want to assure you that our doctors are more than capable of caring for exotic pets. Weight loss is not uncommon when boarding pets, as they are not used to the new environment and that can cause stress. Our priority is the wellbeing of all pets, and we always give them the best care possible. Again, we are sorry for the loss of your pet, and we wish you the best going forward.
Fantastic experience: I have a Rottweiler and a Yorkshire terrier and I have to board them often due to my job and my health concerns. This place has great prices in provides great care of my dogs. my dogs love the staff and so do I.
Fantastic experience: Everyone at Belmont Veterinary Center has been caring, attentive and professional with Pearl and Sammi. Pearl has been ill since mid August, 2022. We couldn’t have asked for better care for our baby Pearl. Dr. McFarland is one of the best Veterinarians. He has explained the disease that Pearl has so that we understand the seriousness of her condition. He has provided exceptional care for Pearl. He has been patient and understanding with us since we have a limited income. As long as we have pets, we will continue to take them for their health care to Belmont Veterinary Center. Thank you for all that you do!
Dear Diana,
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We are so grateful for your kind words and loyal support.
Fantastic experience: I am so happy to have Belmont Vets take care of my dog Tilly. She is always loved and excellently cared for when we are out of town. They really listen and love our pets like they were there own. We've had 4 dogs over the last 20 plus years and services are always the best. I recommend them for all dogs and cats. It's nice to have them. My Dog considered them home away from home. That's awesome.
Negative experience: Been bringing my dogs here for almost 7 years. Every time I call to get Nexgard flea and tick medication or heart worm preventative they let me come pick it up the same day. However I called yesterday to see if I could pick some up and the lady said they need 24-48 hours to fill it and would call when it was ready. I got the call today and they said we can’t give you anything without an exam first, which is $70. Yet you can order it off belmonts site and have it shipped it just verifies your a customer and you can order it off chewys website and they approve it through your vet with no exam. My boyfriends vet approved for him to pick up for his dog and he didn’t need an exam, same town different vet. Just want to make people aware who have a hard time affording the medication alone even if you’ve been a loyal customer there out for your money not your pets well-being.
Fantastic experience: Except for the 45 minute wait Belmont Vet was fantastic. Everyone is very friendly and Dr. McFarland was both patient with my questions and gentle with my Zoe. Would definitely recommend.
Negative experience: Our vets office closed a few months ago, so we were looking for a new one. I had a great experience here with my beagle 21 years ago, so I figured we should give them a shot. While we were sitting in the waiting room waiting to see the overly busy vet, there were 2 customers at the counter with billing disputes and one kennel customer who was told by a seemingly upset employee “your dog is sure a hand-full”. The whole experience seemed cold, impersonal and rushed. The vet seemed very nice, but a little uncompassionate and seemed as if she was simply going through the motions. As soon as I started looking up a drug the vet was suggesting on my phone, I felt like I was being rushed out of the exam room. When I called after our appointment because I had a question that I couldn’t get in before we were rushed out of the exam room to the register, I was laughed at by the receptionist when I expressed a very valid concern. My wife has requests the office manager call her, but I doubt we will hear a word. Nobody working at the time we were there seemed happy to be there. Our dog is usually happy to meet anyone who comes his way, but he was unusually timid and uneasy from the time we walked in til the time we walked out the door. Things have really changed since the last time I was at this facility to have my other dog neutered around 21 years ago.
Seth, we always aim to deliver a great experience, and we are disappointed when we do not meet expectations. We appreciate your honest feedback and if you have any additional comments or concerns, please email us at [email protected].
Negative experience: The veterinarian services and front desk are superb. The grooming and vet management is awful. My dog was cut so badly after his grooming here that I had to return him to be on antibiotics because the cuts were infected behind his legs. Twice he was sent home from daycare the week after grooming because his pads were too sore from being shaved too low. He would roll over and lick area for hours for a week after the grooming in discomfort. I have asked twice to be reimbursed for the grooming and they were only willing to give me 50%, even though I’ve had to go back to the vet twice to have him cared for from the grooming. To avoid making this right, they just sent me an email to remove me altogether from services from their clinic.
Fantastic experience: All the staff love Sir Winslow. They treat him well as he would be a part of their family. I will recommend.
Fantastic experience: You guys are always wonderful! I really appreciate how you called after our cat Scarlett was done with surgery to let us know how it all went. We had to bring her back a couple days after surgery because she was a bit too active but you were always willing to fit her in to check her out! Thank you so much for all your care and concern!
Fantastic experience: I've gone to a few different vets over the years, but for the past 6 I've been taking our 2 large doggos here. We had a scare with one of our dogs who had ketoacidosis and almost died. The staff and vets here worked so hard to keep him alive. I'm forever grateful they saved his life and continue to take such good care of our family.
Negative experience: Absolutely abysmal. I took my cat here for a small gland issue that’s really common in cats. After a 20 minute wait at the first visit she was finally seen and treated. I had to schedule a follow up for two weeks after. Today I came in 15 minutes early. We were not seen on time. We were not seen for a HALF HOUR after the actual appointment time. At that point my cat had been in a carrier for over an hour. 4 other animals came in after us and LEFT BEFORE we were even seen. The receptionist said “he is just finishing up” we waited ten minutes after that and once it was 35 minutes past our appointment time, we left. I wasn’t going to keep my cat in a carrier any longer. Pathetic service. Now we are home, having not even seen a doctor for what would have been a 5min or less appointment, and my cat still gets the stress of spending an hour in a carrier. Do not put your animals through this. Horrible business. Would never recommend
Fantastic experience: We have been taking our dogs here for many years and have always had fantastic care for them. The staff & Doctors have always been compassionate & caring. We don't want to go any place else.
Fantastic experience: Love that I can always schedule Izzy's nail trims with the same vet tech, Sara, as she's terrible with nail trims. Having the same person means they know her and also she feels more comfortable with the same person. Since she's tiny holding her carefully is a challenge.
Fantastic experience: All of the staff are always very friendly and helpful! Everyone’s always so compassionate towards our pets. They treat them like they’re one of their own which always makes us grateful that we chose them to care for our furry family members. Our first cat was cared for at Belmont for 13 years and was always vicious towards everyone but was always treated with a lot of compassion anyway. We had to put her to sleep just a couple of weeks before she was to turn 13. Because she was so incredibly weak, not even able to lift her head, everyone was finally able to touch her and hold her. My family and I were all completely overwhelmed by the pure kindness, gentleness and love her doctor and nursing staff showed her during her final moments. We now have a new cat and a dog. They were both seen today and both seemed to be very comfortable with everyone that cared for them. Our cat even snuggled up against her nurse the whole time she was being examined by her doctor. We would highly recommend Belmont to anyone needing a veterinarian clinic!
