Our comment from InfoVet about B Street Veterinary Hospital:
B Street Veterinary Hospital is a well-regarded clinic in San Diego, praised for its compassionate care and commitment to animals. Many customers have expressed their satisfaction with the friendly and knowledgeable staff who go above and beyond to ensure pets are treated with care and respect. The clinic is appreciated for its ability to accommodate walk-in appointments and for offering affordable pricing that makes veterinary care more accessible to pet owners.
Despite the positive feedback, some clients have reported challenges with long wait times during busy periods, which can extend significantly, especially for walk-ins. Instances of miscommunication and disorganization during visits have been noted, leading to frustration among pet owners. Nonetheless, many customers affirm that the quality of medical care provided is evident, with particular commendations for the veterinarians who deliver empathetic and thorough consultations.
Overall, B Street Veterinary Hospital is recognized as a place where pets receive attentive care, although potential clients should be prepared for a wait in exchange for this quality service.
Services
B Street Veterinary Hospital: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Very cute, everyone is so nice and helpful and most of all comforting. Will return.
Fantastic experience: I did't actually go here but Google isn't letting my skip it. I'm sure it's spectacular.
Negative experience: I brought my dog in as a walk-in for a broken claw after being told they were affordable and accept walk-ins. Pricing was comparable to other vets in SD, which was fine, but the overall experience was disappointing due to long wait times, lack of communication and unprofessional front desk. After hours of waiting, I called for an update and was told the vet was “looking at him right now” even though my dog was still with me. He was eventually seen and sent home with pain medication but no explanation and when I asked for more information I was told to check the portal. The next day he was vomiting and had diarrhea repeatedly after taking the meds. When I called concerned, I didn’t receive a callback until closing time and the only guidance provided was to stop the medication, which was already obvious given his symptoms. The staff member who returned my call was eating while speaking with me, which felt unprofessional given the situation. I ended up having to follow up with his regular vet because of the gastrointestinal issues, I would recommend another vet for proper care and attention.
Fantastic experience: Best vet hospital The service is prompt, fairly priced, and the staff Is super friendly. Highly recommended
Negative experience: I’ve been coming here for quite a while, but for the time, meaning I’m now Redirecting myself to a new veterinary hospital I have a pet that has pre-existing conditions that is documented. I called to set up an appointment For my pet to be seen. I came 10 minutes early before my appointment My pet was not seen after waiting 4 Agonizing hours I could no longer wait another hour due to work. I’m highly Frustrated I wasn’t able to set a new appointment or be refunded my $65 now I’m left with no help and my pet still hasn’t Received a check up
Fantastic experience: My cat had a great visit today. He was more at ease today, thanks to some pain medicine he got an hour before coming to the office. We met a different Doctor today and she was very gentle and accomodating with Tadashi.
Fantastic experience: Referred by my neighbor I took my very sick cat Peter here. Waiting area was packed with customers but they saw me within an hour. Dr. Catala was very caring and detailed. He recommended to hospitalize Peter and after treating him that afternoon called me to bring him home for the night and back the next morning to see the Chief Vet Dr V. They both conferred and examined his blood work results & x-rays. Recommended an antibiotic for pneumonia, prebiotic and nausea meds. Peter has recovered and is getting back to himself. They both followed up with emails and phone calls. They gave me the best birthday gift this year. I can't thank them enough and I highly recommend B Street Clinic and their excellent team of vets and vet techs. Also they are truly dedicated to helping your furry friend and not about how much $$ they can make and taking advantage of you when you are upset & vulnerable. Their prices are reasonable and they try to minimize costs. I find that truly heartening. ❤
Thanks so much for your kind words, Daniel! We think our staff are excellent too and we are so glad we could help Peter feel better!
Fantastic experience: Compassionate and respectful care. Thank to the staff for being there for us during such a hard time.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Ma was extremely helpful when our Frenchie ate a bunch of dirt, which required us to induce vomiting. They squeezed us in right before closing and took very good care of her. Dr. Ma was thorough and thoughtful about the process, given the concern about aspiration. I appreciated the help from the front desk staff and Dr. Ma. Thank you!
Negative experience: The overall environment felt chaotic, and it didn’t seem like anyone was fully paying attention or coordinating care. I had actually been warned ahead of time about the front desk staff being rude, and unfortunately, that turned out to be accurate. The interaction was dismissive and added unnecessary stress to an already concerning situation. They tried to put a cone on my dog with zero explanation as to why, which immediately felt inappropriate. My dog is literally the epitome of chill - if there was a problem with a previous visit, this was not communicated to me. Despite the fact that I had already sent my dog’s medical records in advance, it was clear they either didn’t have them or hadn’t reviewed them. I understand veterinary clinics are busy, but the few times I’ve been there felt disorganized and lacking in basic communication and compassion. I won’t be returning.
Fantastic experience: I needed to leave a review after everything this vet did for me when I lost my beloved dog, Kori. I came in crying and they were quick to help, taking my information and helping my dog out of the car. Despite being in the long line, they were quick to ensure my dog was seen due to the circumstance. I wish I had gotten names of the staff, but I was so distraught. The vet that had to give me the news of the aggressive tumor had been so compassionate. She did not rush me, nor urge me to one option. When I needed time to call my husband in, she agreed with no hesitation. When he came to the vet, she ran over everything again. She was attentive, giving us time time to soak in the information and grieve and we tried to make a choice. We struggled for the right choice, but we knew and the fact she assured us we were making the best choice we could for him. As they prepared him for his final moments, another vet tech (she had color in her hair) came in and equally was kind to us, guiding us through the process. Even got chocolates, cheeses and everything she could find. Though Kori could not eat any of it, I thank you greatly for going above for him. Those final moments were the hardest I had to endure and the vet tech that was with us, giving the serum, was so kind and gentle with Kori. Petting him with us. Soothing him into the next life. I can't thank this place enough for helping us through this difficult time. All the while the price was shockingly reasonable. It's always a stab in the heart when other places gouge you for so much during a painful time, but not this place. We chose the option for Kori to be cremated with other animals where he will be released into the ocean with others. I like to believe that he will be able to run with those other animals. He won't be alone as he crosses the veil. Thank you. Thank you so much B Street Vet.
Fantastic experience: Went here through a referral for a cat I have who had had a seizure just before Christmas. They got us in quickly, showed genuine concern about her well-being, and kept us updated throughout the day. Still no idea what caused the seizure and none since, so hopefully a one time thing. I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone needing urgent care for their pet!
Fantastic experience: Had a super stressful couple of days before the new year because my boy got into some lilies. I was extremely stressed out since this was the first time I've managed to bring him to the vet and it was for an emergency. However, the staff was always really nice, especially Dr.MC who took over his care. He made sure to call me and check in while my cat was staying for the day, as well as keeping me updated on his overall condition and plan. While the first day was the most stressful (and they were so kind to me while I was anxious and crying), they did a lot to quell my nerves and let me know what was going on and what he needed to get done. Overall, even though it was stress-inducing for both my little guy and me, I'm glad the B street team was there to help us through this! Some small cons to keep in mind is because they're one of the few places that take emergency walk-ins is that you'll probably be waiting for a long time. Each day just to bring him in, get his labs, and check-in with the Doctor to look at his results took about 4hrs. They operate via severity of cases so if it's just a re-check (like I was doing the last two days) it'll probably take a while to be seen, so just be prepared. Second, is there are only 3 parking spaces in front, with a fourth reserved for accessible parking. I drive a small car so I was always able to fit in the far off spot to the right, but just something to keep in mind. You'll probably need to park on the street. Lastly, there are no payment plans and fees need to be paid up front and you'll usually over pay a little bit (at least that's what was happening with me). I understand this is in case there is an unexpected concern they have to treat but since I was really low on funds, having to pay more than was strictly necessary was a little stressful. However, each day I had credit that carried over for the next set of treatments, and got a refund on the last day, so overall fees were lower and lower as his treatment went on. I thankfully had a lot of friends pitch in and was able to pay all his fees without any other issues. If you have care credit or available credit on another credit card, this shouldn't be a concern for you but if you're in a tight financial situation like me (I had just paid over $1k in car repairs and other big expenses...) it's just another thing to keep in mind. All of that said, again, everyone was still super nice and helpful throughout this and I hope the next time I stop by it's not for an emergency. Thank you all again from me and Mr. Fry <3
Negative experience: Don't go here! I took my girl in for an injured leg. Asked to have her nails trimmed while she was there. The wait was an estimated 2 hours. After 5 hours the vet said we can give her anti inflammatory. I asked about an exray. “Oh we could do that.” The tech comes out with an estimate for me to sign, and it included an IV and sedation! Whoa! I said give her to me now! So I paid $100 for NOTHING! They never even bothered to trim her nails. Just do not go.
Positive experience: Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable! My only complaint is that every time I come, the wait time is much longer than expected.
Negative experience: My dog needed antibiotics and a pain injection. I couldn't afford it. So I told the doctor I was going to bypass the pain med to make sure I could afford the antibiotics. She swore to me that she could get the antibiotics donated. I clarified with her 3 times that I would not be able to afford both yet she insisted that she would get it covered by donation. So she gives him the pain med and at the end she apologized and said she wasn't able to get the antibiotics donated. Straight lied to my face. Luckily I came up with the money. But the topper is she waits until Christmas Eve day and calls to say he needs another antibiotic. I'm like really? All money I had went on presents already. She didn't even try to help out in the second situation. I had my wife return my gift so that my son lives. This place is FOS and money hungry. I will be switching vets. I bought pet insurance now, so their loss.
Fantastic experience: Definitely the entire building is full of love and caring if you love your animals as much as you as they are part of your family this is the place to go because they will treat you and your furry baby as if it was their own
Negative experience: I can’t comment on the veterinary care as we never ended up being seen by the vet but we had an unpleasant experience waiting to be seen. When we first arrived as a walk in, we were given an estimate of 30 minutes. We were taken back for intake after about 1.5 hours, and another 2 hours later had not been seen yet. I witnessed multiple people asking about wait time and being given incomplete information. I recognize that they are incredibly busy and have to triage based on acuity but just beware of this if planning to take your pet in as a walk-in. I felt uneasy trusting them with my pet’s care and ended up leaving.
Fantastic experience: This place is the best vet in San Diego, taking walk - in on weekends, priceless. Now, be ready to wait hours even if you have an appointment. I'll do anything for my pets, but waiting that much (about 50 minutes passed my appointment time) it's kind of annoying. Now, once you're out, wait another 20 - 30 minutes to get checked out. Love the place, but the wait is too much sometimes, specially if you're a walk in. Make an appointment and you'll wait half of the time.
Positive experience: Solid vet, good location, gets a bit busy and parking is city streets
Fantastic experience: Had an emergency w our dog and they worked us in. Great judgemental and suggestions by the resident veterinarian
Fantastic experience: Extremely busy but absolutely outstanding from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Absolutely went above and beyond our expectations. Absolutely would refer
Fantastic experience: They were really nice here. They are always so considerate of how my dog is feeling bkuz he's always so scared when we go there. It took a lil longer than usual today but it's ok... I got my dog all taken care of!
Negative experience: Took 5 hours to treat my cat, who only needed an abscess drained and a prescription for antibiotics. Not sure what took them so long, they don’t seem to care here. Do not recommend!!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Olsen is the best! She is very caring and takes the time to explain everything. She is thoughtful and kind, which is so needed when your fur baby is hurting. The staff overall are fantastic and all trying their best. It seems like a high stress environment to work in, and they do a great job making sure people and their pets are cared for.
Positive experience: Prices are reasonable, but the wait times are not. Staff is nice, but they can mislead you with the amount of time needed and have you waiting all day long if you don't complain. When you do complain their standard go to response is: "We had an emergency situation that needed to take priority over your pet... ", which sends you and your pet to the end of the line. When you do complain about how they manage things... they respond with "if you don't like it here you are more than welcome to go somewhere else". Going somewhere else really wasn't an option as I had already spent a lot of money our cat's treatment plan and starting from zero somewhere else would have been too much for my budget. Sadly, our pet passed away recently... the attention and care I got overall was okay, but not the best. Maybe you just get what you pay for. Expect long wait times, you can drop off your pet and come back late in the afternoon, don't bother waiting around just ask them to call you back when the pet is ready to be picked up. If I had the money to pay for better quality and care I would go somewhere else. The only thing reasonable are their prices, which I found to be less expensive than most other places. I'm writing this report a bit upset that our pet passed away, and I find myself thinking what we could have done better, and I'm not sure if going elsewhere would have made a difference. My only advice to B Street would be to manage expectations and time management better. Don't leave your customers and pet hanging around all day long, pets get stressed when they wait too long too not just customers, and when your customers complain... accept the complaint rather than telling your customers to go elsewhere. Update: Very lovely card was sent to us, thank you.
Fantastic experience: I took my cat with worm problem & was given medication for it. Medicine worked great & she is well. The attending vet there was awesome & so we’re the staff front desk. Definitely recommend this place.
Fantastic experience: This Vet & Hospital is AMAZING! Ure really lucky if you live near & this gets to be ur pets vet! My Mom dropped & broke my dogs vial of Vetsulin. We just relocated to Mt. Helix & haven't been lucky enough to find a vet I like & can afford near by. The local La Mesa animal hospital referred me to B Street, after they told me they don't stock Vetsulin. Went to B street, which is quite a ways for me, but was extremely delighted to find that the front office personnel; a happy, smiling, friendly & knowledgeable young man informed me that yes, they do have the vial of Vetsulin they can sell me & simply charge me a fair & very reasonable price for a well check visit. I think the visit was just UNDER $100 & the Vial of Vetsulin was just OVER $100. My pooch & I were in and outta there within an hour & for just a couple bucks over $200! THANK YOU ALL SOO VERY MUCH. IF I CANT FIND A REASONABLE VET I LIKE CLOSER TO US, Ull be seeing us again❤️❤️❤️❤️ Way ta go on the excellent handling of our situation! Major kudos!
Fantastic experience: I went to this vet office this weekend because no other vet was open near by. I unfortunately had to put my little one down . The doctor and staff that attended my little dude was extremely compassionate and caring. They even sent me a little momento to keep and always remember my dog. Thank you guys so much for your service and your compassion. You guys are amazing.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and helpful, had a pet emergency and they were available to see my dog and took great care of him. Thank you for helping take care of our community’s animals
Negative experience: Called before I went they said little to no wait time, I went and their sign out front said fill out form only check in at desk if it’s 0800. Filled the form waited 15 min so I walked in and they said you have to check in both places. Then I sat there and waited for almost 2 hours. I walked in and they said 15 more minutes. I waited 20 more minutes and they never came out so I walked back inside and they said oh we were about to call you but if you want to leave then go ahead. Just really unprofessional and not pleased with the service or how it is ran.
Fantastic experience: Great vet, just too damn crowded and bad parking...I have to update this to a 2 star, because you shouldn't have to wait an hour just to pick up the same meds every month. If you value your time, this is not the place...It will test your patience to the fullest so unless you are retired and don't have anything better to do.... DON'T DO IT!!
Fantastic experience: These vet work very hard at what they do .and they are really good at what they do because your dog is there dog. Been with Bstreet clinic for 13 years ...
Negative experience: What a terrible place top to bottom. From the 10+ people I’ve interacted here at this place over the course of a month, I spoke to two people who actually seem kind and understanding. Everyone else is rude and bad at their job. The person whose practice I assume this is yelled at a staff member my first visit in the middle of the lobby. There is zero privacy to discuss sensitive issues like payment and personal information for you or your pet. You will be told to “take a seat, the doctor will be with you shortly” just to wait 8 hours to get any update on your pet. They made me pay for anesthesia to drain an abscess in the back of my cat’s throat just to be told that it had to be done yet again a week later because they think there’s something lodged in there now even though they could have done that the first time. I’ve never felt so taken advantage of and disregarded as a pet owner in my life. I regret ever coming here. What a waste of money for my cat to still be sick.
Negative experience: 1) It’s been years and they can never keep vaccine records for my dogs straight no matter how many times I ask for clarification. I even ask for emailed records but what they’ve sent me doesn’t line up with what they told my new vet over the phone. How do they have different vaccine dates when they always get them together? 2) This office told me one of my dogs has a heart murmur and needs major knee surgery when I brought her in for a limp. 3 different doctors have seen her since and none of them detected a heart murmur. I even asked the last doctor to check again. My dog also came back from her new vet without a limp. They told me she does have arthritic joints but no need for surgery, at least not for a long while.
Negative experience: Avoid this hospital unless you can get an appointment. The walk in process is insanely frustrating. I’ve been waiting to see a doctor since 750am and it’s 1pm on a Friday. The lady right in front of me was seen hours ago and only came in for a routine vaccination while my pet is here for an allergic reaction. AVOID this place. I will be changing my pets to another vet since every time I call they provide inaccurate information regarding their past visits. It doesn’t appear they know how to review their own documentation
Negative experience: Not worth the cheap prices...super overcrowded & disorganized with long wait times. They'll find extra things to charge you on anyway so you end up paying more than original estimate. Go somewhere else. They also coned 1 of my cats who has never had aggressive issues at previous vets saying that he was being "spicy" but it makes me wonder how they treated him for him to react that way.
Fantastic experience: This place is the best, my dog was bit on a run but another misbehaved dog, pretty deep right next to his eye. When I heard they had to sedate him to sew it up and he was gonna need a bunch of meds, I was expecting it to be at least $1000 for an emergency visit. It ended up coming in at $50 less than the estimate at only $500. You can tell they actually care about animals and not profits here. Highly highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: They were great!! Took my here because she was attacked by a neighbors dog. They took her in for treatment right away, and it was even on a Sunday. Staff was very friendly, Dr explained everything in detail, and the bill was reasonable. Thanks again! Update: Still very good, but be prepared to wait for hours. 2 weeks ago I waited for 8 hrs to be seen and yesterday it was about 5 hrs (for a recheck).
Fantastic experience: I am very happy to have found B Street Vets. We have two dogs and the vets and staff at B Street have taken great care of our family. B Street allows walk-ins without appointments, and sometimes they have a lot of walk ins waiting, but they will always triage the animals and make sure your pet is cared for. When you have an appointment, there is no problem getting in. It is a busy clinic and the staff always does their best to be welcoming even when it gets hectic.
Negative experience: I'm very confused on why this is listed as affordable?? In what way? They called me back to tell me an office visit is $95, I said my kitty has an abcess and she said it would be $1600-$2000 for an extraction? I thought this was a specialty dental clinic I had called....i double checked and its "affordable B street vet" uhh no. I'm not sure if this woman was high or what. But reading the other reviews ab how pets have died after coming here and her giving me absolutely outrageous prices, it's looking like we should listen to the 1 star reviews.
Fantastic experience: Dr B is the best she saved my friends dog life because he ate poison seed that expanded in his stomach she just the dog and knew what was wrong and I am so grateful because she saved my life and she saved his life the dog ate poison and saved his dog he’s so grateful
Negative experience: This place is terrible they basically forced my daughter to surrender my 6 year granddaughters dog after her eye popped out in a dog fight. She scrambled to get help from organizations but it was a weekend .They left the dogs eye out of her head for two days. My daughter tried to remove her and get a second option but they said they would call someone and have her removed because of her eye still being out. This dog is a rare colored Shih tzu and was under two so I believe it was all a scam to just get the dog. I called and pleaded for any kind of help but if your low income and have no credit to get the help then your screwed. The dog was surrendered so she could be helped. My granddaughter still cry’s for her dog that she traveled with from Kentucky. The story is even deeper than that her uncle who has now passed away gave her that puppy. If no in I could give them a zero I would.
We are sorry to hear about the loss of your family member and the emotional distress giving up your family pet has caused. We strive to provide our patients with the most beneficial medical care for them. We partner with a variety of financial assistance organization and accept two installment programs CareCredit and SunBit in order to assist pets in need. Under extenuating circumstances, we on occasion allow the surrendering of pets in order for them to obtain the medical treatment they require that their families are not able to provide them. We understand that this is an extremely difficult decision for pet parents to make and is selflessly chosen in the best interest of the pet.
Negative experience: In short; I wouldn’t recommend taking your fur baby here. I could write or state the reason but some experiences aren’t worth the time to write. If you love your fur baby I suggest you find a more suitable place to go.
Fantastic experience: I have been going here for years and they are seriously the best. They take such good care of my dogs and the staff & Drs are so kind, understanding, and caring. The only down side is they are too freaking popular, it's so hard to get a scheduled appointment, but if you show up early you can get on the walkin wait list.
Negative experience: ABSOLUTELY NOT. Do not bring your precious pets here if you can help it!!! We went in for bloodwork to initially check for anything out of the norm. They said it would take a couple of days to get the results. In the process of closing out at the front desk, one of the techs aggressively pushed for me to buy my dog an antibiotic. Why?? I was confused because no one mentioned meds at all during the appointment. She claimed that he "could maybe have a UTI and it would help with any discomfort." I told her that I'll wait for the test results to be sure. The tech continued to push to get me to buy the antibiotic and shook her head at me when I refused to pay for the meds. I sensed something was very off and bluntly let her know I was ready to pay what was due and leave. I never went back and never will go there again. My dog was actually experiencing symptoms due to a mass/tumor that had grown on his spleen. I found that out in one single appointment at another amazing animal hospital in Point Loma (go there instead). I recommend always getting a second opinion if something doesn't seem right. Note: ultrasounds are amazing for finding internal lumps and bumps (also more affordable than x-rays). Ask for an ultrasound and review all test results in detail. Above all, stay away from this pushy and rude B Street Vet Hospital. I don't believe for a second that they have genuine intentions to care for our pets.
Negative experience: Now that my dog Luna has been put to sleep, I need to find out what happened to cause an otherwise healthy but older dog to go downhill in less than 30 days. Luna just went in for a wellness exam, potential UTI & labs, now, she is dead, gone. Was it too soon?? Could the vet have done anything differently? Why the double dose of antibiotics & yes I get the urine culture but my dog is gone?? Here is the timeline: On May 9th, I brought Luna to B Street Vet for an annual wellness check and blood work. She had a UTI & was given antibiotics. I received a call from B Street later with the lab results & the vet told me 'Luna's bloodwork looked great' & to monitor the UTI. One week into starting those meds, Luna was just about finished with them when I received a frantic email from B Street. saying they did a urine culture & Luna needs to now be on another antibiotic. Remember, this was day 7 into a 8-day cycle of the 1st round of antibiotics & bam, she had to start on another. On the second day of the 2nd antibiotics, she all of a sudden did not want to eat & only drank a little water. The meds were chewable & she took them right away the 1st day, but not the 2nd. I started hiding them in some deli chicken breast slices & she gobbled the meds & chicken right up. I would have to bring her water, though, as I noticed she did not want to go to her bowl. Same with the food, I had to bring it to her. Then this happened: She went onto my balcony, & thankfully I was watching her as she lost her balance & came crashing down. I noticed I had to 1st put her head into my hands & just caress her, then she started to come about & I helped lift her up. This began to happen more & more. She would get excited to go out, jump of my bed & by the time, she got to the door, she collapsed & went all the way down to the ground. This also started to happen outside. This shot is dark, but check it out, this is what happened probably 10x. Finally, on Monday & Tuesday, 6/2 & 6/3 she did not even take hardly took any water & zero food. Tuesday night, I mediated while I watched my 13 & 1/2 dog look like she was dying in front of me. Weds the 10th, I surrendered Luna to the SDHS Gaines Street Shelter & met Sgt Sierra Dockery. I shared everything & she was putting Luna through medical 1st. Then, as you all know, I got the call, but it was not what I expected; it was kidney failure. This was causing the so-called arthritis symptoms & the root cause of her falling to the ground & stopping most water & food. That call came on 6/9. On 6/10, I rushed to see my dog. 10 minutes after leaving, she was humanely euthanized at Gaines Street. I do not want to be one of those people who will try to find anything so they can hang onto the animal or person they lost but in this case, it is starting to be very strange. Even if she had underlying kidney disease, how did that morph into kidney failure & death in under a month? Did the 2nd round of perhaps unnecessary antibiotics exacerbate the kidney problems & speed up Luna's demise, or does kidney disease/failure take a dog that fast?? Did B Street misdiagnose kidney disease for a UTI? Radio silence from them for fear of liability. I've requested an necropsy and call from the shelter doctor. UPDATE: I requested & received a digital copy of Luna's records from B Street Vet BUT they refuse to answer any questions, say one word, nada, nothing, zilch & my dog died on 6/10, ONE month after her appt! Thanks for reading, Paul
Fantastic experience: What a great experience. The vet was amazing and even got on the floor with string cheese to make my dogs feel more comfortable. It was well run and very polite and professional staff. I Undoubtedly the best vet I have ever taken my fur babies!
Negative experience: If I could give zero stars i would this is our not so friendly out of pocket lil miss Lisa. She came outside yelled from across the street about which funding websites to do and when I go inside because I don’t have my glasses n im squinting, she proceeded to say that she may not help my dog (puppy feet coming out of her body and can’t push because it’s stuck) all over me squinting my eyes then when I go outside and tell my wife what happened Lisa then comes outside and said that she never said that. They make your experience with your hurt or injured animal, very stressful, and no help whatsoever beyond rudeI do not recommend going to B St. hospital if all the staff are anything like Lisa those poor animals are probably in distress. I would recommend any other hospital but that one. (She was informed of the picture being taken of her as well. That is Lisa.)
Fantastic experience: They took care of my dog and had great prices
Negative experience: First of all, I have no doubt they are capable at handling pet emergencies so if you have an emergency and need a nearby vet they’re probably a good option. But I brought my dog in for a routine checkup / potential UTI and the overall experience was so chaotic and disorganized that I will definitely be finding a different regular vet. The staff seemed stressed and uncoordinated. They do drop offs for initial visits, and my dog ended up being there for a full six hours, most of which he was just held anxiously waiting in a kennel because they were addressing other emergency visits. After 5 hours of waiting with little communication, I went in and was told that they had found a mass in his bladder that they couldn’t confidently diagnose. They did diagnose a bladder infection and sent him home with antibiotics and recommended I go to a regular vet to follow up with more imaging on his bladder. They said it could be nothing to worry about but also that I should not ignore it, and essentially said if it was cancer then it would be terminal. I think they clinically took the correct approach and conclusion, but the way the doctor delivered the news was so blunt and glib, it felt like they were just casually telling me my dog was maybe going to die. And then it took another hour or so just waiting in the lobby for them to check me out and dispense the meds because the vet had not completed my dog’s chart. Also I left not actually knowing what procedures and tests they did and didn’t complete, because they sort of told me several different things. They said they “thought” he had a bladder infection and I believe charged me for a urinalysis, but I don’t actually know if they performed that or not. They did not actually confirm to me that he had an infection or what specifically it was. I know they did an ultrasound and x-ray (…I think) because they showed me the images. Outside of that, I have little idea of what they did for my dog during 6 hours there, and then they seemingly forgot about the initial reason for the visit and didn’t write his regular prescriptions. It seemed like they were well-aware that this isn’t the most stress-free environment for vet visits and is more of an emergency hospital. But if you’re looking for a calm vet experience I would recommend going elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: Great friendly service, Very convenient for me that they were able to do a walk in surgery on a Sunday! I would definitely recommend.
Fantastic experience: These people are consistently friendly and helpful, I couldn't imagine going anywhere else after going here. They've gotten our cat through some hard times and are just so helpful/patient with us every time.
Negative experience: This may be good in emergency situations but I would NOT recommended them as your go to vet. They are very rude/ short when you try to call with questions and seem bothered by you even calling/ asking a question. They don’t have that caring touch that other vet offices do. If you like a higher level of service and don’t want to feel stressed every time you need to deal with them, go somewhere else.
Fantastic experience: My dog was in critical condition, the experience here was extraordinary, they took us in for immediate surgery, the cost was affordable and the vet provided plenty of information and walked us through everything.
Fantastic experience: Super swift service for my kiddo who likely ate a huge chocolate muffin on his walk this morning. And the price couldn't be beat! I'm so grateful for the affordable and kind care they provided. We will definitely be back for our dogs wellness needs!
Fantastic experience: So dang grateful to have this vet. They’re the only vet I’ve ever been to where you don’t feel like you’re getting taken for a ride and getting ripped off. Honest, caring vets that have not only your pet’s best interest at heart but also yours.
Fantastic experience: Super helpful staff, they do show affection for your pets. I don’t know what i would have done without their help. I’m very happy I found this place.
Fantastic experience: Dr Olsen is my hero!! She saved two of my puppies from Parvo. I had seen two vets in Mexico a few days prior and they stated my pups were anemic nor did they do anything but give me this gel. I knew something was wrong and immediately took them into B vet. Dr Olsen was very caring and took great care of Paz and Mia who are alive because of Dr Olsen. Thank you for taking care of the pack! ❤️ Xoxo
Fantastic experience: The best bet. Independent (not VCA), fairly priced, and knowledgeable. Dr V is a real one. They saved my first ever dog’s life AND sent lab results to a specialist to make handling his special needs cheap and easy. They go out of their way to care for animals owned by low income and at risk individuals, and to care for strays and rescues. This is truly a compassionate veterinary practice working for their community and I’m so glad to have them!
Negative experience: Disappointing Experience, but Found Great Care Elsewhere I recently took my pet in for a check-up after a fall, hoping to ensure everything was okay. The staff told me to leave my pet with them, and they would contact me soon with an update. After five hours with no word, I called them myself to check in, I understand that vet clinics can be busy, but the lack of communication and the way the situation was handled was extremely stressful. Thankfully, I decided to get a second opinion the next day. The new vet not only involved me in the check up my pet was receiving from start to finish, but they also referred me to a specialist instead of pressuring me for immediate, costly procedures. After a 20 minute check up they explain the options, which was a huge contrast to the rushed and pressured experience I had at Bst Clinic . I’m so grateful that my pet received the surgery he needed with the specialist, and the care was exceptional. I feel much more confident in the decisions we made for my pet's health. While I’m happy with the care my pet received from the second vet and specialist, I would not recommend BstVet Clinic based on my experience. Communication was lacking, and the pressure to make hasty decisions was overwhelming. Lisa at the front desk in particular seemed to lack empathy and professionalism, which only added to my frustration she was very unproffecional and needs to be trained on customer service and empathy for the families and their pets.
Negative experience: Came in for a sort of emergency situation, my friends dogs front paw was crushed accidentally by a large box and her pup was in pain. We came in knowing we wanted radiographs and pretty much go from there. The Dr(I don’t remember his name) was pretty helpful and understanding, did try to get us to do other procedures/services but we kindly let him know we didn’t want it and he didn’t push it. The other 2 female staffs that came in to help us on the other hand is why I’m giving 1 star. The first female either receptionist or assistant or technician, came in and was demanding us to hurry up and was sounding like she was blaming us for allowing this to happen to our pup! Lady why do you think where here at your hospital, to help treat him! We where already stressed out and upset about the situation.. then another female staff came in and was condescending and rude to us saying “you should know better as pet parents, you own other dogs too, watch this happen to your other pets” we where shocked to hear this.. just picked up our pup and left. That was the last straw. Went over to a nearby VCA and huge difference, no broken bones thankfully just gave pain meds and to monitor at home! The technicians at VCA where much better, so think carefully if you come here.
Fantastic experience: They really do love every animal pet and they care about your emotional experience from your concern about the condition of your beloved dear pet. They bump your pet if an emergency comes in the door to try to save that Pet's life. So your wait is dependant on the condition of your pets severity needs. But you don't wait too long. They are so excellent. Great doctor. They are worth every cent. %
Fantastic experience: Met family there to put an elderly dog down. The lobby was full when we arrived for our appointment, but staff got us into a room quickly. The staff and Veterinarian didn't rush us and made sure that we understood the process. Kudos to the Veterinarian for using Propofol to sedate the dog before giving the drug to stop his heart. Very peaceful.
Fantastic experience: If I could give B street vet 6 stars, I would. Our four month kitten Buffy was having no other symptoms besides bloated stomach and we decided to take her in because we are first time kitten owners and extremely anxious. B street understood the severity, squeezed her in on a Saturday to be seen immediately, and continues to prioritize her treatment for FIP. We are so grateful for B street and Dr. Olsen.
Fantastic experience: Just wanted to give a huge shout out to Dr. V and Dr. Olsen who saved my dog's life. Also shout out to the awesome front desk staff who stuck with us through the later hours of the night during my dog's urgent surgery. Thank you to all of you.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We are happy to help and we are mostly happy that your boy is doing well! ❤️
Negative experience: Dont believe the positive reviews. Literally all the negative reviews were on par with what I experienced with this scam of a place. Wasted 3 hours of our time, made us wait, lack of communication, and ran no test and gave us no papers with results and refuse to give an idea of whats going on. All they tried to do is sell us xray, blood work, and injections without even knowing what my dog has going on first. Go to other vets. Plenty of better places. Also I paid $80 for my visit and they did absolutely nothing. This place is so unorganized that they don’t answer my phone calls any day of the week, didn’t give me even a paper with the scope of the work they performed. All they did was take my dog from me, stressed him out and I and forced us to wait for hours with no results. Highly unprofessional. AVOID AVOID AVOID! Update: I paid $80 for my consultation and was told I would receive an email going over everything they did today (which was nothing). Never received it and they refuse to answer my calls of respond to my voicemails. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Scam artist. Trying to sell me services and products before they even know whats wrong with my dog. Update 2024: Gave this people another try to see if this time they would provide better service and they straight up declined services because of this review. They could’ve redeemed themselves but denied further showing their character and bad business service
Fantastic experience: I love that this place offers walk ins at a very reasonable price!! It’s so much cheaper than going to urgent care or an ER. I brought my 11 week old puppy in for a weird swollen cyst on his groin, and I was a walk in. My vet couldn’t get me in for a week. I told them I was nervous about dropping him off because he’s an unvaccinated puppy, so they let me sit with him until he was ready for exam. They gave him antibiotics just to be cautious (which is great- a lot of vets would have just said it’s nothing major and sent us home). He’s already looking better. This is a GREAT option if you’re strapped for time and need to see a vet same day!!
Thanks for your review, Kristen! We are so glad we could get your boy seen and that he is feeling better. He is so cute!
Fantastic experience: Best San Diego! The staff from the front desk to the vet techs to the Veterinarians are all kind, loving, caring and they are effective communicators.
Negative experience: The vet we saw was absolutely awesome. I loved how she worked with my dog and if everything was as good as her, this would have been a five-star review. We were a walk-in. And I'm thankful they take walk-ins. The hour and 15 minute wait to see the vet was not unreasonable at all as a walk-in. That would not have lead to the bad review. What did? After we saw the vet, we spent an hour and 20 minutes waiting for staff to come and swab dog's nose and mouth, and bring the medication. During that time, one of the staff said oh, you can take your dog into the lobby if you want. I looked at him and said but she has kennel cough. If I didn't know that she shouldn't be around other dogs he would have sent me in the area with other dogs. So the vet was absolutely awesome, one of the best. Staff on the other hand were friendly, but that's the only good thing I could say about them.
Fantastic experience: First time puppy owner here. Our little man suddenly had what looked like pink eye and had been bitten by a tick on the same day. We walked in here at 9am on a sunday and our pup was back home by 3pm. Of note- it is a drop off clinic. But our pup was very content when we picked him up- I am sure he was taken the best care of. They triage- so if an emergency walks in, just like in an ER- they go first. So drop off and bring a book and a snack and take a walk!! The staff at the front were loving, courteous, compassionate and kind to both us and our dog. Dr. Keene called us and gave us a comprehensive report of her findings along with medication instructions and other helpful advice. She took her time and was kind and thorough. As a healthcare provider- (for humans!) I was in AWE of the level of care here. Nothing short of excellent. Better than most human clinical experiences I have had!! We will be back for our follow up in one week, and for our future doggy care. Would absolutely recommend to anyone in need of pet care. Thank you to the wonderful staff here for all that you do!!
Fantastic experience: My cat had a medical situation and with resources provided I did get assistance from non profits that helped reduce the costs for my cats medical visit and diagnosis. Unfortunately he is sick and it's going to be a continuation of treatment for the long run. However with my interactions with staff as busy as they are they are truly kind caring and compassionate with everyone's needs and you feel valued in as an individual with your pets needs. Medications changed from pills to liquid I appreciate the time and care they have given to me and my cat.
Negative experience: Horrible. Paid 400$ (they wanted 800$ for blood work n a X-ray)to tell me X-ray guy would call me within a day or two n nothing. I called they said to leave a message n he’d call back, nothing. Every single person got sent home with gabapentin. I was there 6.5 hrs n it’s majority is homeless ppl with pets that org. are paying their bills. My senior dog didn’t get diagnosed from trembling n body jerking. If I could leave no stars I would!
Negative experience: All they care for is $$$$! And No they don’t have great prices ! They are super expensive !! And they don’t even care to ask how you’r pet is doing!!!! I can’t believe they quote me $2,170 for Neutering my dog!! I took em to the best Vet in Tijuana and paid only $120.00 what a difference !!
We are relieved to hear your pet was able to get care in TJ and we hope he is doing better! Just to clarify, the estimates you received were for other recommended diagnostics and services, in addition to the neuter procedure, which is substantially lower than the total you mentioned. We are always willing to work with our clients and their finances, and we would be happy to discuss specific details in a private conversation.
Positive experience: Overall, not a bad place to get a animal thr help they need, $206 for 2 meds, a removed claw treatment and initial visit. If you are curtious to the front end, they will match you. Expect there to be delays and long waits, the earlier you get there, the quicker you will be seen. Parking is probably the only reason for a loss of a star, come prepared to look for parking. I recommend if you are a walkin, leave thr animal in the car, go get checked in, then go back to your car and wait till your turn. Then once your animal is dropped off, head home till they call you to come pick up your friend. Hard working people at B street!
Thanks for your feedback, Trever. You are correct in your observation that waits can be long, so an early arrival is key to beat the crowds. We do hope that having the option for clients to drop off their pets and go about their day is seen as a valuable use of their time, and our staff is definitely incredibly hard-working! We are glad we were able to help your dog feel better!
Fantastic experience: The staff is so nice! My 6 month old puppy got stung by a bee, and even tho their sign outside said "at full capacity, no more walk-ins," they still helped us out. The staff at the front desk were still able care for my pupp and speak to the vet in the back to ensure he was ok. They sent us home with instructions. We already had such a pleasant visit despite the stress- however, they went beyond our expectations and gave us a call at 9:30pm to check on our puppy! Thank you for genuinely caring about our puppy!
Fantastic experience: I just wanted to express that the Veternarian Woman with the Blond hair at the front desk with a mask on. I didn't get her name but tonight she said they were at full capacity when I got there at 5:07pm they close at 6pm. They couldn't do anything for my Baby who needs antibiotics she stated but helped me with options, she said I can get a cone for my Baby, my other Dog bit My other dogs face fighting over the food when there are two bowls for each of them but ones guards the food and growls and that one got bit in the face, long story short she went above and beyond they sell cones for $11 and some change she even put the cone together and put it over my Babies head and gave me an appointment for 8am tomorrow. Even if they can't see your Dog that Day there are always options I learned that tonight the cone is perfect it worked tonight from my Dog scratching at her face. She we above and beyond I don't know her name but I'll find out and hopefully can edit my story. First time at this Vet my Brother has been for his dog in the past and said they are the best and I agree. I didn't even pay an exam fee we were helped right at the front desk and she observed my Dog and gave recommendations she was very loving and vert heartfelt. Check in is $90 though that's better than the other emergency vets that charge 200! So I thank you B Street. (-:
Fantastic experience: I received a letter in the mail today that warmed me and my family's heart that came from B street veterinary hospital. My Lab that was one day away from reaching 15 years old, passed away in my arms naturally. My best friend that I knew from the day he was born, my Buddy. B Street veterinary is a corporation full of employees that truly cares about your pet and their owners. I am grateful that they found it in their heart to take the time to do this for us. Thank you and God bless.
Negative experience: Brought my cat in on a weekend walk in. My cat has been known to growl amd hiss at vets but his primary vet and any other vet we have been to, have not had issues because he is just vocal. B Street Vet MADE ME DRUG MY OWN CAT bc he was growling. Usually when I'm given medications I bring him into the vet and pay the vet techs to pill him so I don't have to, B STEET VET handed me a syringe of gabapentin and told me I either get it in my cat or they will not see him. One he didn't need the gabapentin he is just vocal and no other vet has ever drugged him to see him, and they deal with the growling and hissing every time, and two I am NOT a vet tech so why am I doing their job?! Due to this alone you could not pay me to go back here. It was not a pleasant experience for my cat or myself. They do not treat your pet as if it were their own.
Fantastic experience: This veterinary Hospital is so wonderful, my dogs are actually excited to go to the vet. Even when they are insanely busy, they make time to connect and explain everything thoroughly and answer questions. Their prices are also manageable. Even on a tight budget, they help prioritize care, and make time for follow-up care. I've brought multiple pets here over the years, and they're still the best. I am so grateful for the vets, techs, and community of pet owners at B Street Vet. This is a community of love for our fur babies, along with highest quality care.
Fantastic experience: Very grateful for B street! Each of my dogs have had separate situations that required urgent care and our usual vet didn’t have same day availability unless we wanted pay an emergency visit fee. I found B street after some google and yelp searching walk in options. Both times I’ve been, it took about an hour after checking in to be called. The front desk then asked questions and got their weight. They seem to have kept their process from covid times and take your pet back then call you with updates once they’ve been seen by the doctor. The first time I went last year, I think it took about another hour and the more recent time I went last week, it took 2 hours. It varies because they prioritize emergencies so keep in mind there may be a long wait. I just went to run some errands while waiting for their call. I had a great experience speaking over the phone both times with the doctor. They don’t do anything without your consent and sharing the itemized cost first. She was also transparent about what was absolutely necessary and all of our options which I truly appreciate. The cost is super affordable, especially for same day care. For my dog’s walk in visit last week, the total cost I paid for the office visit fee + multiple medications was actually cheaper than my regular vet’s emergency visit fee alone. So I might just switch over permanently. The front desk let me know they do take appointments too, but they’re usually booked out a month in advance. Truly rare to find an affordable vet office with great service so thank you B street :)
Fantastic experience: Everyone at B Steet from the front desk, to the vet techs, to the veterinarians are amazing. They’re kind, efficient, thorough, and funny (when appropriate). The care my dog and cat have received has been excellent. I have felt understood as a pet owner about what I am willing and not willing to do for or to my pets. Information is delivered empathetically and matter of factly. On top of the high quality of care my pets have received, the costs have been entirely reasonable. I’ve actually anticipated higher bills each time I’ve been and been grateful when I receive the quote/bill (and they are accurate with their quoting). I can’t recommend this clinic enough.
Negative experience: My cat just turned 2, no thanks in part to B Street Vet. We brought our cat in when she was exhibiting concerning symptoms (stopped eating, drinking, using the restroom). She was barely moving and started to feel cold, and her skin began to grey. We were extremely concerned and distraught only to have the vet question why we would "buy" a rare breed and tell us we made a poor choice in adopting her. Not that it matters but this cat was a rescue. There is a serious lack of empathy for cats in this clinic. We were told that our cat maybe had 2 months to live because of her breed and/or some other mystery issue. If you care about your cats, take them to VSH instead. Their priority is diagnosing and finding solutions while also being empathetic. They were able to know right away that the issue was FIP instead of playing a guessing game and delaying her treatment.
We are truly sorry for the distress you and your cat have gone through. It is clear that you deeply care about her and we sincerely apologize if anything said during your visit made you feel judged or unsupported, especially during such a concerning time. It is our responsibility to provide compassionate care to all pets, regardless of breed or background, and we are sorry that this was not reflected in your experience. We are ecstatic to hear that she is thriving, but did want to clarify that after performing multiple diagnostics FIP was on our differential list and treatment was underway.
FIP can be tricky to diagnose, but having access to our detailed medical records allowed VSH to make an informed diagnosis of FIP and start treatment quickly without duplicating diagnostics. We apologize if you feel as though our communication was not clear, we will review how we can improve our diagnostic communication process to avoid similar issues in the future. Your cat's care is important to us, and we appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention.
Fantastic experience: B Street has been fantastic. I've had to go there twice for emergency's both were due to attacks on my dog. They worked me to get my dog cared for when I didn't know where else to go. The staff is super nice, patient and to top it off I feel there pricing is affordable and fair for pet owners that don't have the have endless funds. I never felt pushed to do unnecessary procedures and went over the estimate before doing anything.
Negative experience: I used to have a good experience with this place in the past. However, in the last 6 months, whenever I've taken my pets there, it has been horrible. They make you wait for hours. A few months ago, I took my cat there and tried to contact the doctor multiple times, leaving voicemails, but never received a call back even after paying over $700 for her bills. So, I took my cat to a wonderful doctor in TJ. Today, when I took my dog there at 9 am, they asked me to go home and said they would call when it was his turn. I received a call 2 hours later and when I arrived at the clinic, I was told there was no room for him. I ended up waiting until 4 pm in the 90-degree heat outside for them to call me in, and then I had to wait in the room for over an hour. This is not acceptable. I left without getting my dog checked out. I will never go there again. They have no organization whatsoever anymore.
Positive experience: Great doctors and staff are usually nice. The biggest downfall is the excruciating long wait times to do absolutely anything. You want to drop off your pet? Prepare to wait hours. You want to simply pick up your pets medicine? You have to wait and absurd amount of time. You want to pick up your pet? Good luck. You need to be checked out? Wait. I’m thankful for the care they provide but people work and have kids and a life that they need to take care of and they really don’t honor your time. Not everyone is fortunate enough to take a day off work to take their pet to the vet. They always say to show up first thing in the morning to avoid long wait times but I always show up right at 8am and sometimes even before, and there’s already 5-10 people ahead of you, always. And this goes without saying but the cost of pet care is ridiculous. There is absolutely no reason why people who already live in the most expensive city in the country need to pay this much to give their pet the care they deserve. All vet offices take advantage of pet parents because they know you won’t let your pet die. They are part of the problem.
Negative experience: If you love your pet, please do not take them to B Street Veterinarian. I brought my dog, Lilly, in because she had stopped eating or drinking, was vomiting, and had bloody diarrhea. We arrived at 8:45 am, and despite the obvious severity of her condition, we were made to wait until 10 am, only to be told to go home because they couldn't see us until the afternoon. They called us back at 12:45, and we returned at 1:00 pm. After a parvo test came back negative, they took Lilly in and told us they'd call when she was ready. I wanted to stay with her, but they don't allow that. Hours passed, and we finally got a call from the vet almost at 6 pm. We could hear our dog screaming in the background. The doctor informed us that they had just seen her, done X-rays and bloodwork, but wouldn't have results for two days. Despite her severe dehydration and clearly being in distress, they did not administer an IV and left her in a kennel for nearly 6 hours. Lilly was a 5-pound lap dog, easily startled, and there was absolutely no need for her to be left alone and suffering for that long. When we finally picked her up, the doctor kept apologizing for the delay in seeing her and told us how sick she was. We took Lilly home in a diaper because she was bleeding nonstop. She died within a few hours. It's been two weeks since she died, and writing this review has been incredibly difficult, but I feel it's important to warn others. If your dog is having an emergency, please do not bring them to this "hospital." It's not a hospital; it's just a vet clinic that does not prioritize based on the severity of a pet's condition. Never leave your pet there alone—be with them while they perform tests. The hardest thing for me is not just that Lilly died, but that she suffered alone in a kennel for hours when I could have been holding her in my arms. This place does not care for your pet the way they should. Please consider taking your beloved animals elsewhere.
Negative experience: Terrible. My vet recommended me to this vet since they were right next door to my apartment and it was 530 and they closed at 6 because my dog was pouring blood from her behind and was vomiting. I called the phone got “disconnected” so I just grabbed my dog and started walking there while calling back 4 times in a row and it just rang and rang no one answered. I walked in and he said let me go ask if a doctor will see her. He came back at 540 and said no they wouldn’t see her today because they closed at 6… Then recommended me to an emergency vet clinic that’s open later or told me to come back at 8am when they open again. I will never step foot near this place again.
Negative experience: as a lifelong rescuer, trainer, who has lived in several cities and worked with many vets, B Street was by far the worst experience I ever had. Not only did they misdiagnosed my cat, sealing his fate, but they then tried to charge my card for 300.00 of medications I never even picked up. Medications were Still in their office and we had to fight to get a refund on a charge we never approved. Sounds illegal. Not only do they misdiagnose, but they are expensive, long waits (like 3-4 hours) and their front desk staff is incredibly entitled and rude. I have found much better vets in the area that truly care about the pets and their owners. B Street only cares about your money.
Fantastic experience: Outstanding service and care. They really do care for all animals and pets. They do everything possible to save your favorite friend They go beyond the normal. They work with you and make it a safe and pleasant place to bring your pets for their medical needs. I give them an A++ for their commitment and service. Great job you guys
Fantastic experience: I had a semi-emergency with my cat and they were able to squeeze me in the same day. They were efficient and cost sensitive when it came to the estimate. I wasn’t able to afford everything they suggested but the doctor assured me what I was able to afford was reasonable and would most likely fix the issue. If it didn’t then I would have to go the other route but it was a good first step. My cat is all better and thriving.
Positive experience: I had a fantastic experience at this clinic! After calling numerous other places for an urgent eye infection, someone recommended a great experience with B Street, and they were the only ones who could accept my kitty as a walk-in. They promptly called me back and confirmed that walk-ins were still welcome. The check-in process was seamless, and the visit itself was quicker than anticipated. Dr. Hayes was very understanding. When it was time to pick up my kitty, the checkout process was smooth, and they reviewed any prescriptions needed. They took excellent care of my Balou.
Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough good things about this veterinary office, we are so lucky to have found them. They saved my cat’s life when he had an emergency bladder blockage, and are so gentle and kind with my dogs. They always go above and beyond no matter the pet or the problem.
Negative experience: Don’t bring your cat here! I brought my cat to B St for urinary issues after having a couple good experiences with bringing in my other pet. After almost 6 hours of waiting for my cat to be seen, he is returned to me covered in dried pee. I was told that he was locked in a crate with no access to a liter box after being given fluids. I am so shocked and disappointed that no one check on him or even examined him enough to see that he was very visibly covered in pee. When trying to get more information about what happened I was met with nothing but an apathetic apology.
Fantastic experience: Being our 1st experience with this veterinary and its staff gave me a different perspective of what the term, "working well under pressure" Watching the amount of people coming and going as I waited as a walk in I was amazed how calm everyone appeared. The owners when leaving their animals with confidence and the animals happy to be there. Treating each patient and owner as family ; (which most of us I think, our animals are ) with patience of Saints these people are Professional in their knowledge and clearly have experience beyond words. They deserve more than 5 stars. We wish to Thank the B St. Staff & PSV for their gift of hope,, Love and kindness to so many, and may that light shine upon all of you 10 fold! Fondly, T
Fantastic experience: I did not get the outcome that I wanted from my visit. Dr. Vassilev ended the day by putting down my dog of nearly thirteen wonderful years. Why the five stars? Because of Dr. V's professionalism, her knowledge, her humanity and her bedside manners -- a combination of attributes that are sorely lacking among most vets. Dr. V didn't have to make a trip into her practice on March 1. She said she'd personally come in after seeing Callie's labwork. She gave the bad news to me straight and didn't suger coat it. But she did so with warmth, empathy, and understanding. Tearfully, I asked her if she would be the one to administer the euthanasia and she agreed. I had been to another emergency vet in the San Diego area two weeks prior. Dr. V. was uniquely compassionate and accessible. During a time when so many practices are being gobbled up by private equity firms, my firmest wish is that Dr. V's practice continues to thrive as an independent entity. Keep giving the straight but warm talk that all pet parents truly deserve.
Fantastic experience: Dr Keene. You are an amazing doctor. My cat kuro threw up all night. After looking at him you informed to watch over him and bring him in if he didn't change in terms of eating and drinking. He started eating and drinking and is doing great
Fantastic experience: Greatful for allowing walk-ins !! Staff was really friendly & assisted us right away even though they were understaffed! They treated my fur baby Romeo with care and were informative & answered all of our questions & concerns . Really Recommend this place. Thank you !
Fantastic experience: We had end of life care here with a wonderful, gentle, patient, caring vet, I forget her name, as my friend Marsha is the one who had brought our dog here before; but she is Korean American. Our dog Sasha had the best ending to a long and glorious life, 19 years...All of our experiences here have been excellent, both in terms of diagnosis, and also caring sensitive treatment. Thank you very much B Street Vet Hospital
Thank you so much for your kind words and review, even after having to visit for such a somber reason. We are happy that we were able to help with Sasha's transition and that we could be a safe space for your family during such a difficult time.
Negative experience: My previous dog received most of her care here and it was a pleasant experience. When she passed away, we felt supported by Dr. Olson and had no complaints. Their walk in system was slow but it was fine and never took more than 3 hours. We got a new dog and since January 2024 we brought her to B Street and the experience has been horrible. Their system for walk-ins has become overcrowded and is not efficient anymore. I had a particularly frustrating experience the last time I visited. The most recent visit, I took my dog for treatment for kennel cough and got to the vet at 8 am. I understood my dog needed to be separated due to being contagious and we got a room at 11 am. We then sat in the room until 12:30pm and saw a vet. The vet saw us for 5 minutes and noted my dog may have a heart murmur but she is using a stethoscope that she wasn’t used to and wasn’t sure. She told me to have someone check it next time - I found this somewhat frustrating since heart murmurs can be serious and she didn’t offer to have someone else confirm or deny it being her stethoscope or an actual concern. After the doctor left at 12:35pm we then waited until 1:35pm for the medicine and bill. I used to love B street but with the most recent experience, I will not be coming back. A vet visit for a non emergency medical condition should not take over 5 hours and the vet should not mention a concerning condition and not verify if it is her tool or an actual cause for concern. We really loved the previous care our last dog received, but B Street cannot maintain the current way they run their practice without visits taking over a patient’s entire day.
