Fantastic experience: Dr. Joe was absolutely amazing with my Shichon. He owns one as well. That really made me feel reassured Teddy was in the right hands. He answered all of my questions with understanding and compassion. Teddy has been suffering severe constipation issues. He was great giving him his shots and microchip. He treated my puppy with amazing respect and care. I now understand why my Parents take there dogs and speak so highly of Penn Animal hospital. I am now a client for life. Thank you Dr. Joe and everyone else you made coming to the vet a much better experience than expected.

Fantastic experience: I have a 3 year old Tabby cat. I got very ill, and we took him to Penn. Doctor Joe Staud did an xray, and blood work, and decided if it were a blockage he could not see on the xray, that we take him to an animal hospital to do an ultrasound. We did, and found a total blockage in his intestines. I took him back down to Doctor Joe, and he came in early, and operated. Found several fuzzy cat toys he had ingested, and removed them. The cat has been there several days, and recuperating. Not 100% out of the woods yet, but the team there went above and beyond on trying to save our cat

Dr. Meredith was thorough, thoughtful, and very friendly. We are relieved to have a vet we can trust as our pups adjust to their new environment.

Positive experience: I would give this place 5 stars but I can't because of the hours. The hours at Penn Animal hospital aren't too convenient and unpredictable. Weekend hours on Saturday are from 8-11 and this is by appointment only. They only accept walk-ins during the week from I think 10am-1pm. So hopefully your fur baby and/ or other pet(s) can be seen during these times or else you'll be looking for another place to go (like I'm doing now on this Saturday early morning.). I like this place and have been going here for years. Their system is a little antiquated but they get the job done. The staff here are always very busy! Dr. Cohn and Dr. Battle are great! They're both knowledgeable, attentive, and super friendly to me and my fur baby

Fantastic experience: My family and have been going to Penn Animal Hospital since the 60’s . The care and the staff are incredible and the fees are very fair. Everyone is so kind, caring and professional! Thank you for all you do !! Our pets love you too ❤️

Negative experience: Horrible. I cannot recommend Penn animal hospital. My older lab was in need of kidney therapy. The vet was rushed, suggested no therapies and was only interested in trying to get me to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on unneeded X-rays and mri’s. When the vet saw I wasn’t going to spend thousands he quickly moved to euthanasia. I was appalled how horrible the treatment was at Penn animal hospital. I would say avoid this place at all costs. They r horrible. I made the mistake of going back with my other dog to inspect her teeth. They recommended a teeth cleaning under anesthesia. We did the procedure and my then 13 year old lab did ok. 3 months later after moving and going to another vet all the issues with the teeth and gums were back. My new vet explained that the teeth issues would return and brushing is ok but don’t do any further surgeries on a very senior dog.. Did penn animal mention any of this? Nope. Over time they have morphed into a spend money type vet clinic just trying to see as many dogs as possible. I would never again use penn animal hospital.

Fantastic experience: We came here a year ago after rescuing a puppy off the tracks. The staff is so welcoming, and good at what they do. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: It's been a few years since we took our 2 dogs there. Moved over an hour away, took our 1 dog there today, it was we never stopped going. Best Vet we've been to, and the drive is worth the service and professionalism every time we go there

Negative experience: Why can't you at least add to this accepting no new patients. I've had a rescue cat for 10 years now he has an eye problem and I need help and I can't get it from you. Over a year you're not taking any new patients. Dr Beck I need help please. I'm the senior citizen I used to come there years ago when I had all my other animals

Negative experience: This place is just another veterinarian office with no patience or training with handling young dogs. Then you have a vet tech, I will not say here name, but she told them that the dog needed training because of how it acted. What did they do to this young immature dog? They pinned it down and sedated it!!!! Miss vet tech, Dr and staff. I know it's you that needs training not the poor puppy! I train with many veterinarians and vet techs that i trust. If you would like a crash course in dog behavior or how to restrain a young dog i am more than willing to help so that another dog does not have the same bad experience that this pup had. If I could give no stars I would.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Beck and her team are wonderful. She is generous with her time, she is extremely knowledgeable, loves animals and she does a thorough exam and gives a thorough explanation as to what is going on with my Princess Belle. I trust Dr. Beck implicitly! I found this place by accident when I was looking for a place to board my pup while my son who lives close by, went to Italy with his wife while I watched the children. In order to board my pup it is a rule for all animals to go through an examination prior to boarding. I remember not being very happy with this at the time, but thank God I did because ever since she has been Princess bells primary veterinarian. I continue to come to her even though I live two hours away. I think that speaks volumes as to how great they are At Penn Animal Hospital.

Fantastic experience: We recently moved from Pittsburgh but this was my go to vet for my pug and Norwegian elkhound mix. We took our dogs there for 7 years. They are super efficient and affordable. The vets and front office staff are friendly, knowledgable, and great with our dogs. We will miss them!

Fantastic experience: I have been taking my dogs to Penn Animal for over ten years and they have been nothing short of amazing. Today was a great example. My four year old labradoodle didn’t eat her breakfast and had some really scary bowel movements. This isn’t my first dog and I’ve seen a lot but this was something else. From the moment I saw Dr. Conn I felt less afraid. He calmly explained what might be happening and did everything necessary to help her but didn’t push me to for anything beyond - In that moment I would have agreed to anything. He is just wonderful and I am forever grateful my dogs are in his care. Side note, she’s feeling better.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Beck is the BEST bunny savvy vet around! She always puts our boy’s health and well being first, and is clear on our options and course of treatment. We are blessed to have found her for Ginger and only wish she had known Oreo.

Fantastic experience: Nell is not the most cooperative cat, but she has a total personality change when she arrives at Penn Animal Hospital: she is cooperative and actually purrs during her exam. That says it all for me. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Penn Animal Hospital.

Negative experience: Be careful....they charged me over $600,00 for my dogs neutering. In all fairness, they did tell me they would remove the stitches for free.

Fantastic experience: Always reasonable pricing, above and beyond care. I have been taking my dog here for over ten years. She's 15 now and doing so well for her age.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful caring place. So impressed. I took my chihuahua there after he died. My best friend for 14 years. I had no idea what to do with Amigo’s body, but they did. I’m so grateful. Now I can deal with my broken heart.

Fantastic experience: We love Dr Beck and the entire staff! No one ever makes us feel stupid or incompetent. We’re always treated with respect and patience. My bunnies get the upmost attention and concern during their appointments. Treatment is explained not only to us (the pet parents), but also to the pets themselves (I know that may sound funny, but animals do understand more than we think!) Our girl lost her partner and came down with mites and Dr Beck and her team explained very rationally that mites can overcome from an animal’s stress due to stress lowering the immune system. We were never made to feel like we were inadequate pet parents because of it. The appointment was handled very matter of fact. “This happened so this happened, so we’re going to treat it like this”. Treatment was demonstrated and we were sent home with the next dose. I’ve had a couple other vets in the past with dogs when living in another state and while I did like them, they don’t compare to Dr Beck! She really has a gentle touch for both the pet and the owner. I highly recommend her to anyone who asks :)

My pup always gets great care, they’re always knowledgeable and not judgmental, and the cost of care is the most reasonable I have ever had. I love going to places where they price things fairly, the quality is wonderful, and the overhead is low, and this is just the place!

Fantastic experience: Kind, helpful, great people that help keep our furry friends healthy. They don't seem to be driven by the bottom line like some other places. The pragmatic advice they give is centered around the health of your pet, with no attempt to extract unnecessary money.

Negative experience: Brought my friends dog in today and was turned away… went to greenfield vet hospital and found out he has pancreatitis and kidney failure. So the fact that you wouldn’t see my dog while he is suffering is beyond absurd!! Shame on you for this travesty and lack Of compassion. What happened to caring for every animal?

Fantastic experience: Very professional staff. Doc Joe is wonderful with my old dog. Very caring and follows up with his patients. The facility has a parking lot and very easy to get in and out of.

Fantastic experience: Kind, considerate, knowledgeable, and client-focused. It’s about the animal first and foremost. Owner-centered care, very communicative, takes time to explain diagnoses and course (s) of treatment. Flexible and patient in sharing reciprocal ideas and concerns. This is the type of vet you’ve been searching for to maximize the quality and length of your pets life. Trust me, I don’t take the care of my animals lightly. Before this, I was traveling 4 hours round trip to avoid “cookie-cutter” and/or profit-focused care.

Fantastic experience: I've been taking my cast for 40 years at the hospital. Doctor battle is my Doctor for all my animals. Best hospital I've ever beenhighlighted staff is highly highly. Recommended by me, they are fantastic.

Fantastic experience: Yesterday I had the make the heart wrenching decision to send my girl across the rainbow bridge. Everyone was incredibly kind and the doctor was extremely understanding. Being that I was at the tail end of the hours of operation, I was happy to have the wait holding her. I didn’t feel rushed at all and felt supported the entire time. I hadn’t been the Penn Animal since I had to send my last dog, but they were very kind and accommodating. A big Thank You to the Staff.

Fantastic experience: We arrived same day with a problem with our beloved pet as no one else was doing same day. We have never heard of them however we will forever be customers of them. They were extremely courteous and attentive to us being upset and they were very gentle with our pups who are part of our family. Dr. Joe was extremely professional and Human at the same time. He explained what he was doing before doing it and didn’t kill us with technical terms. Their prices seemed very fair to us, same day service and no emergency visit up charge. He didn’t force stuff we didn’t need on us, he did suggest new flea collars which we bought from them and shots are now all up to date on 2 dogs by the way. The doctor’s assistants were all professional and courteous. You need to be there promptly at 930 am or you may wait a little longer but for same day service it worked for us. We will return if needed. We only met Dr. Joe so I can’t give you any other info on other Dr.’s but if they are like him I would say go for it.

Fantastic experience: It’s been 6 years since my first visit. I thought I’d come back for a more detailed review. This is the absolute best Vet that I’ve ever been to. I’ve never had a bad experience and the doc is an absolute miracle worker with my temperamental cat. He actually loves him. He didn’t even get uncomfortable. He immediately let the doc start petting him as if he knew him his whole life. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Negative experience: I don’t really fully understand why you guys don’t accept new patients. I’ve had my dog for +10 years he always came there, he passed a few years ago, I finally get a dog and you guys don’t accept new patients that’s just a little weird it should just say private animal hospital.

Positive experience: Great doctors and services. Only downside is nothing electronic (no emails or computers). Odd hours, only 10-2, but the staff is fantastic. They truly care and remember your furbaby.

Fantastic experience: All the doctors at the Penn Animal hospital are very good and accommodating. What's really nice is they have an open Vet time Monday through Friday 10 AM to 1 PM whereas you can just walk in, you don't need an appointment during this time

Fantastic experience: Sad day, was treated with respect and compassion. It's been a comfort to me when we're well or at the bridge. I have been there for about 30 years has to say something for there care.

Negative experience: While they were nice to our dog, they severely mistreated her diabetes. The insulin amounts were all wrong and she continued to have the same symptoms after 3 visits. We got a second opinion at another vet and they said her insulin levels should have been DOUBLED. At the rate we were going at this veterinary hospital, she would have died a quick death due to diabetes. They also told us there was no way for us to track her blood sugar levels at home. We had to go in every other week, stress our elderly dog out, and pay a nice fee. At another vets office they gave us a device where we could constantly track her levels without causing pain or stress. As a result of the wrong amount of insulin, our dog has developed ketones in her urine. I’m disappointed in Penn animal hospital; diabetes is common among elderly dogs and they did it all wrong just to make an extra buck.

Fantastic experience: Have been taking our dogs and cats here since the mid 80s. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, the staff and the vets treat you and your pets with the utmost respect and compassion. The vets all take as much time as needed to understand any problems your pet is having and then carefully explain how you can best treat your pet. They do everything they can to improve and sustain the life of your pet and in that way make your life better.

Fantastic experience: We have taken our three cats here for years. The folks who work here are the best. Most recently, our cat, Kendall, rapidly declined (in a couple days). I immediately took her here. They were very compassionate in explaining that she was in kidney failure and was most likely going to pass away soon. I had a hard time letting go and brought her here again to see if anything else could be done. They were very compassionate in explaining that we could bring her home and allow her to pass naturally or put her down. They explained that because of how she was presenting and the nature of her condition, we would be reasonably justified in either option. We elected to bring her home and she passed peacefully this morning by my side. The last time I lost a pet was 21 years ago when my childhood cat passed away. They made an incredibly difficult experience a little bit easier. I’m very thankful for that.

Negative experience: Wham bam vet clinic that still uses all paper records, you get 15 min max of their attention before you’re rushed to the checkout counter. They misdiagnosed my 10 year old lab with an ear infection, kept writing me prescriptions for more antibiotics and more flush, I’ve had many labs I knew that was wrong after it didn’t clear up quickly and we had so much discharge. so I took him to another local vet, and they were disgusted to find a tumor in his ear, they told me they were embarrassed and disappointed that another vet diagnosed it as an infection because a first year Vet tech would be able to see the Texas sized tumor in his ear canal. I just had my yellow lab there last week for hotspots because I needed a walk in appointment. They had me in and out in 15 minutes and completely missed a giant tick in the same area. They did give him the meds he needed but when I asked them to clean and shave the area they said they didn’t have time for that. I insisted, they sprayed him with the hose and brought him back to me. This place is a CASH cow, they treat you like a number at deli counter. that’s why there’s a brand new bright red C8 Corvette outback that says vetsvet on the license plate, short for (vets corvette). If you want real care for your pet, go anywhere but here. For the record my whole family was long time loyal customers of this place until it became clear they are way more concerned with profits than patient care, now we have 4+ dogs all receiving care elsewhere for the same price. I take that old dog to a place in the north hills for the same $200 price but I get an hour instead of 15min. my 10 year old lab with the tumor is doing great with scheduled quarterly checkups and phone calls to track his ear treatment and adjust Meds as needed. Thats how it should be UPDATE- I hilariously received a termination letter in the mail after leaving this review, from Dr.Staud himself, so I called and got him on the phone (first time ever) and he was much more concerned with me mentioning his corvette in the review than my dogs or fixing any issues with me as a client lol. He also mentioned despite the corvette and high revenue he does donate to some local police departments Just know, if you complain about the vet care they will boot you! I own two local small businesses I am no stranger to business. But this place has so much money coming in a problem isn’t worth dealing with! They kick you to the curb and replace you quickly. Check your dogs! Get a 2nd opinion! 15min isn’t long enough to diagnose anything

Fantastic experience: Even though they are always busy, they listen, examine and respond to any concern or question you have. Staff are super helpful too. No long waiting for walk-ins (usually) and even the clientele are friendly. Highly skilled, the doctors are also caring and kind to everyone. Just a great place you can trust treat your little ones like they’d treat their own.

Fantastic experience: Excellent, compassionate, professional service! I took my two fosters here and we received timely cost-effective service to get the two little girl cats updated on shots, blood tested for any health concerns, and ready for adoption.

Fantastic experience: We have been taking our pets to Penn animal hospital over 20 years within those years we had to have a couple of our labs put down and Dr Battle and the staff gave such excellent care, very compassionate and helpful which made the process go very smoothly. we continue to bring our newest pets to see Dr Battle, as I would go nowhere else, because the care that you receive there is fantastic, and the cost are reasonable. The staff is fantastic. Very helpful. When you need to reach the doctor for questions or concerns about your pet, you receive a phone call the same day . This is a great place to go to get care for your pets.

Fantastic experience: I cant say enough good things about penn animal hospital. They saved my cats life when he had a life threatening urinary blockage. They were kind and compassionate, and the fees for his care were on the low end of the typical range. Thanks to their walk in hours, my cat was able to get care in time.

Fantastic experience: Love Dr. Staude ! He's caring, knowlegeable and straight forward, dosen't sugar coat his opinions....it's refreshing. The rest of the staff and other Drs. are great too. The service is good, prices competitive and FREE PARKING! You can't go wrong. We've been back many times, mostly just routine but, about a year ago my old girl just stopped. No eating, walking, nothing...a zombi dog. I know old dogs slow down, but this was stopped. Dr. Staud did blood work, discovered a thyroid problem! She's on daily meds and she's a new dog. It's amazing! I'm very glad he thought to investigate and not just write it off as old age. I have my dog back and i'm very grateful.

Fantastic experience: After 14 years of life and love we had to put our puppy down today. It was a terrible day and will be for some time to come, but we are grateful for the staff at Penn Animal Hospital for taking care of our dog for so many years. In particular, Dr. Battle was our pup's "PCP". It was only fitting to have him there to take care of the final moments with care, grace and comfort. Admittedly, I wish these folks had an easier location to get to, but that didn't stop us living in Canonsburg. Great people... we highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Dr Cohn is the BEST! Staff is wonderful and efficient and always welcoming. They are hard working and on the ball and get you in and out quickly! Wouldn't take my Willow girl anywhere else!. Update 05/2023, Just introduced our new GSD to Dr Cohn and the girls. They were so happy to meet her and gave her the wonderful care that they always provided our Willow with. We love these guys so much.

Positive experience: I’ve been coming here since my cats were 4 months old. They are now 2 and a half! I love the staff and doctors, they are very friendly and will answer any and all your questions! It is sometimes difficult to get a hold of them over the phone, but they are a smaller pet hospital.

Fantastic experience: I can't say enough about the doctors and staff here. My dogs aren't the best behaved when they go to the dr. It's always easy, we get to come in the side door or wait in a room. I recently had to put my 19 yr old mini pincher down. Everyone was so nice and I was an absolute mess. It was a peaceful process.

Fantastic experience: My little dude has been going to Penn Animal Hospital his whole life (over 10 years now). Even though he’s become a bit of a curmudgeon over the years the staff still treats him with an abundance of care and thoroughness. Just recently needed to put him under anesthesia for some maintenance (not a small deal at his age) and he came out the other end just fine thanks to the skill and love of the team at Penn Animal. So grateful to be taking Harold home and in better shape than before

Staff needs to speak up when irresponsible pet owners allow their dogs to terrorize other pets (my cat) by allowing them to jump up at carrier and not taking their dogs outside when they don't stop barking in the waiting room.

Negative experience: Used to take our dogs here all the time and loved it, that was until today when we were told they no longer take “new” patients. So if you haven’t been here with your pet in a couple years, they will now no longer treat your animal. They need to advertise this so more people don’t waste a trip down.

Fantastic experience: I can not express how great this place truly is… EVERYONE here goes out of their way to make sure they are giving the best treatment possible.. I had horrible news this last week, my dog has a large mass pushing up against her heart.. I couldn’t even keep it together and they all came together to comfort me and do everything they could to make her as comfortable as possible.. we love this place and there is a reason every time my dog walks in she is wagging her tail and can’t wait to give them all kisses… thank you all so much for all your kindness… and making this process a little lighter..

Fantastic experience: Edit (because I don’t know how to or am not able to write another one): Dr. Joe and staff are incredible. We had our little guy, Pico, put to rest today, and they are truly exceptional. I’ve never seen a pet (let alone a chihuahua) love going to the vet, but he did. The level of care is unmatched. They have inspired me and my partner to start a fund to help pay for medication for families who do not have the funding. Some criticism about being unfriendly are probably, at least in my opinion, due to how busy they are. I’ve seen the staff inundated with calls, files, intake, etc. and they manage the best they can. To me, it’s a testimony to the level of care and work ethic they have. Every last one of them cares for you and your beloved furry family member. They don’t always tell you what you want to hear, but they tell you what you need to hear. I can’t imagine taking a pet to another place. Previous post: Excellent!! Reasonable and affordable. They’re honest and caring. They give all options for resolving issues. Examples: It was clear that my little old man has heart issues. They said, “I can tell he has heart issues, so I’d like to start him on this medication. There’s a specialty blood panel that will cost a couple thousand dollars. It will help identify specific issues, but he will probably end up with this medication.” Also, he began to have periods when he would go blind. They gave the option to do multiple tests that would be really expensive but recommended we start with some general blood work. I don’t believe they try to rip you off. As a side note, he had kidney failure. Their recommendations gave us a few more years.

Fantastic experience: I’ve lived all over the US and this vet is by far the best I’ve ever been to. They actually care more about the animals than the money. All the doctors are very good at what they do and everyone that works here is always so friendly,

Fantastic experience: The best animal hospital!!! All the vets are great but Dr. Brandon Cohn is outstanding!!! He is so compassionate and knowledgeable. For 14 years he gave our dog expert care. During his senior years, Dr. Cohn was incredibly helpful, patient and kind. The office is clean. Prices are fair. They have a nice parking lot. They get very, very busy! Be prepared to wait possibly past your appointment time. The wait is worth it if you want to give your pet top notch care.

Fantastic experience: I have been bringing my animals here for 20yrs and I couldn't be more pleased. the vetenerians are the best and they have more compassion than you know when it comes to the care of your animal not to mention the finances That I didn't have the full amount right on the spot they still fixed my lil guy and worked with me, and of course my lil guy is still here and going strong!! thanks too this hospital! As far as the staff I couldn't ask for a better staff They are so sweet each and every staff member working here.!! I would not trade this hospital for the world, and I speak for all 3 of my animals!!!❤ who's ages are 12, 7, 8 and they love there drs as well!!!!!

Fantastic experience: My Doberman Pinscher just amazes me she can't wait to go to Penn Animal Hospital she paws at the door and her little stubby tail is going 1000 miles an hour. The staff treat her great and she is rewarded with treats which is probably why she loves going there.

Fantastic experience: I have been taking my Dogs to Penn Animal Hospital for over 30 years. I would never go anywhere else. Dr Battle is the only Vet there I take my Dogs to. The other Vets are Good too.

Fantastic experience: This is my Oliver (dog) vet took him here since puppy.they are fast short wait time reasonable an our vet is Joe got to the source immediately .i give them 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: Great people ! They were very accomandating when I needed to put our Buddy to sleep last year. Took me without an appointment and were very kind. Would never go anywhere else with our new puppy.

Fantastic experience: We've had nothing but good experiences for some our clients that live in the strip and the surrounding neighborhoods. Penn Animal Hospital has helped us out in emergencies during their hours and they have been very nice and thorough. One super bonus is they have their own parking lot, so don't be afraid to use that if you need. Even if you don't need them now, it's good to reach out and start a relationship to get to know them and them know your dog/cat.

Fantastic experience: I trust my Leah with them. The are very kind and caring. Eight years I had to put my Coal down it was heart wrenching thy were so kind. I will always go to them for any pet care health needs.

Fantastic experience: This office, including veterinarians, technicians, and office staff, are the most caring and kindest group of people. They are compassionate and honest with you about the best course of treatment for your pet. They also actually listen to you, wait to hear what you need to say, and then provided recommendations, advice, education, etc. - this is not what I've experienced at other offices. I have taken both of my cats here now and am still amazed by how great this office is. The only downside is the office hours and the fact that it's walk-in only. However, the plus side is that if you need to take your pet in, you can - you just might have to wait a bit to be seen.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to Penn Animal for at least 18 yrs and if I had to quantify the above and beyond items this vet provides, the amount of money would be staggering. They had it right when they chose to continue to let the owner stay with their pets; "your pet can't talk and we learn more about the pet and are able to better fix the problem when the parent is there to advocate". Smart!! I won't go anywhere else!! Dr. Battle is our guy!! Love him!!

Negative experience: DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE. They are very rude and don't seem to have clue. The vet seemed like he did the bare minimum. My dog was gasping for air and clearly struggling and they didn't care. The secretaries were rude and had a smart mouth. My poor pup ended up suffering her last 40 mins of life. YES THEY ALLOWED US TO SIT THERE THAT LONG even tho other people waiting even wanted us to go first. RIP Teeny i love you 9/2/21

Fantastic experience: Penn Animal Hospital is a first rate animal hospital. When my cat Neville was sick they treated him with dignity especially when I unfortunately had to have him put to sleep. Dr .Staud, and his staff are amazing
