Fantastic experience: We brought our senior cat, Mac, from Jacksonville, Florida to Shandon Wood. We wanted to have him examined by Dr Atkinson. 13 years ago when Mac had a severe urinary problem, Dr Atkinson treated him and saved Mac’s life. We really appreciate Dr Atkinson’s expertise and his kind and understanding approach to handling our, sometimes, feisty cat.

Fantastic experience: I truly cannot say enough positive things about shandonwood. My cat sees Dr Sine and we LOVE her. The care and attention she shows him is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced at any other vet. I truly do not think he would be doing as well as he is with his diabetes if he was going to a different practice. Not only do they go above and beyond with regular visits, but they are always willing and ready to get him in day of when I have any kind of concern. Genuinely love Shandonwood.

Fantastic experience: Awesome docs and team. We’ve had 2 surgical emergencies happen to our cats and this clinic took care of them with such care. We are very appreciative.

Fantastic experience: We were going to Garners Ferry Animal Hospital when we had an emergency on the weekend. Since Garners Ferry is only open Monday through Friday 8 am- 5pm we had to go to CVETS and found that there could be an 8 hour wait. I called SWAC and they were kind enough to see us within 1.5 hours. The staff and Dr. Bradley were amazing. We decided to see Dr. Cosentino as Milo's regular vet and went in for a meet and greet and to get Milo's Bordetella Vaccine and Flu Vaccine since Garners Ferry Animal Hospital does not, at the time, have the flu vaccine in their office. We have since transferred Milo to SWAH and have not been disappointed. The staff that I have spoken with several times in office and on the phone are professional, accommodating, and friendly! I would highly recommend SWAH to anyone who needs amazing, friendly, and caring veterinarians and staff! Thanks for being there for us and Milo Shandon-Wood!

SWAC was able to fit them in quickly and the care they received was phenomenal. They even let me borrow their carrier to get my cat home when I had accidentally left mine at home. Negative experience: Don't bring your dog here! Awful Awful Awful service. Today i brought my dog in because he has a yeast infection, (which i told them ) he's being crying, chewing on his paw, scratching in his chin very hard, and not eating very well or like he used to. They told me they didn't know why, because his paw looked normal to them, and they said it is normal for a dog to scratch like that. I kept asking them then why he is not eating well, and they didn't know how to respond to me. I also asked if the medication they were suggesting will help, and they said well we can see but it will take weeks and it will be an extra $150. In addition to that, they charged me for extra tests that i didn't authorize, they just went ahead and did them without telling me what they were and how much they were gonna be , which i'm pretty sure it's illegal. When i thought this horrible experience was going to finish, this woman came out and she kept pushing on us to get their medication, just so they could get more money out of us. I'm extremely extremely disappointed on the service, i feel like i just got robbed, lied and most importantly my dog is still hurting. This is my first review, i mean who wants to do reviews, but the service was SO BAD SO BAD that hopefully they get better veterinarians and help dogs that need help.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Atkinson and the entire SWAC staff are above outstanding. They go above and beyond to put both the patient and parents comfortable and at ease from check-in to follow up. Our girl (Coco), who is a 17 year old Calico and has been somewhat shy her entire life, has embraced Dr. Atkinson and staff from day one. It makes the vet trips stress-free for us. Their blood work and follow-up are amazingly fast, and usually by a personal phone call by the doctor himself. We couldn’t be happier. J, A & Coco

Fantastic experience: Great thought has been done to see the visit from the fur babies perspective. No waiting anxiously in a common waiting area. My poodles were brought into a room right away. There we relaxed on a couch for the visit to begin. My boys were calm and relaxed throughout the whole visit. I was very impressed with this office and they will be coming here on a regular visit. Fantastic experience: They took care of my dog’s ear infection very efficiently. The staff was so warm and inviting. The vet answered all my questions and let me know how to care for my dog’s allergy related ear infections now and as time goes on. The whole visit took less than 30 minutes. This was especially impressive because the appointment was scheduled the same day and it was a Saturday.

Fantastic experience: Had a great first experience here with Dr. Johnson. She was very sweet and gentle with my senior dog Ace and made sure he was in good health. She took the time to answer all my questions and put me at eyes with his eye and arthritis issues. I cant say enough good things about my and my dogs experience.

Negative experience: Dude no. I took my cat here for 2 surgeries to extract teeth. They did a half ahh job and left the roots in so her gingivitis got worse. Went to a LEGIT clinic where I live now and they were able to take them out. Shame on you

Fantastic experience: We are always seen in a Timely manner and everything is explained thoroughly and done to get us in and out. Staff is friendly and they are efficient. Negative experience: If zero stars were a choice I would have given them zero. If negative stars was a choice I would have gone there. I called with a question and because they could not locate any prior record of me coming there (which I told them it had been YEARS) they would not answer my question. They claim to care about animals….they only care about money. It was a general question that any vet could answer but they simply would not. They did surgery on my prior dog but didn’t have a record…. I took my current dog for grooming and the groomer could find my prior records. And this is a vetWhat is wrong with this place. If you care about your animal STAY AWAY from this place!!!

Fantastic experience: We took our elderly cat to Columbia Car Clinic/Shandonwood. The staff there is always courteous and caring. We were very concerned about our furry companion. They saw us the day we called and made a prompt diagnosis and prescribed effective treatment. Our kitty is doing much better.

Negative experience: My first visit here was great but second visit was horrible. I told my vet I wanted to look into more affordable medications and I was ignored and told we’re ordering more of the expensive medication. The assisting nurse then had the audacity to joke about leaving her a tip and adding it to my bill. I think she was making this joke to break some tension, but when I’m expressing that I’m having a hard time affording care a joke like that was really inappropriate.

Positive experience: We’ve been going here since last year. Very kind, quick service. I appreciate how they take my dog and I straight to the room as sometimes she can be anxious around others.

Fantastic experience: My cat was keeping one of her big blue eyes half closed, and it was tearing constantly. By the time I called, she was developing conjunctivitis. Doctors Kevin was gentle but efficient, numbing the eye to give her relief, and giving her antibiotics both a long-acting injection and an ointment for the eye. Was particularly impressed by how he continued to look for the injury, which was in a corner of her eye and not obvious, in order to give the right treatment. Day later and much better!

Fantastic experience: Roxy had a dental and all the staff as usual were friendly and professional and I know she received the best of care. Dr. Otis called me personally to let me know all went well and that was recovering well. Many thanks to a wonderful team!

Fantastic experience: Shandon-Wood Animal Clinic is outstanding! All the staff and vets are extremely kind, caring, and knowledgeable. Dr. Murdock is my Baby Boy Boone's vet. At one year old, Boone had a sudden, major health situation. Dr. Murdock took such great care of him that he continues to be a happy, healthy chihuahua even with limited eye sight. I could not have ever expected such a wonderful outcome. I know this positive outcome would not have happened without Dr. Murdock! I've used other places for pets, but no one can come close to Shandon-Wood!

Fantastic experience: Blown away by my initial visit with my dogs. The customer service, cleanliness, explanations, and care was unlike anything I've experienced from previous vets. Staying up with technology and building profiles and printouts for each of my dogs was a very nice touch. So glad I looked into this place and made the switch!

Negative experience: I brought my beloved cat here and at first it seemed that they cared. Dr. Otis wasn’t exactly cordial but he seemed smart and determined to find the problem. What I came to realize over the next few days of poor communication, and overly curt and unnecessary excuses, was that this practice is focused on making money and will pursue it at the cost of your pet’s safety. When they couldn’t find cancer after testing two separate needle aspirates and bloodwork, about $1000 in itself, they suggested exploratory surgery to find the problem that cost $2000. Dr. Otis then left for vacation, which we were not informed was imminent. When I could get them on the phone over the next several days, they quickly became disinterested in dealing with me at all after I suggested that exploratory surgery was not the right move and asked for alternate approaches, they made more empty promises and got me off the line. They have yet to call me and offer alternate approaches, and it’s shameful in my opinion how they see the community and it’s pets. I’d recommend you seek better, more patient and empathetic practices in the area.

They were always super helpful and so very knowledgeable about cats specifically. They even would clip my cats nails when she was too feisty for me! It’s so hard to find a vet that has such great experience with cats as my vets at Shannon Wood! They are remarkable and always found the solution to my cats needs. It’s hard to find a place that isn’t only dog-centered.

Fantastic experience: Shandon-Wood Animal Clinic was fantastic! We brought our 11-year-old cocker spaniel, Yodie, in for an ear issue. Dr. Otis and his assistant were incredibly gentle with him, thoroughly examined his ear, and provided reasonable treatment options. We really appreciated their care!

Negative experience: I was really disappointed with my experience during my recent visit. I encountered an employee named Whitney who came across as condescending and unprofessional. Instead of being helpful and courteous, her tone and attitude made the interaction uncomfortable and frustrating. Customer service is a key part of any business, and unfortunately, this experience did not reflect the level of professionalism I expected. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the importance of respectful and effective communication with all visitors.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Rasor and the team at Shandonwood Animal Clinic are nothing short of amazing. They will take care of your animals like a family member. Dr. Rasor is patient and professional, and an all around delightful person. I would highly recommend her! She has taken care of our dogs for 14 years, including our rescue pup with a history of trauma. She makes sure we are comfortable and our dog is as well, so that the vet can become a positive experience. When she isn’t on site, the team of doctors are wonderful and I feel just as comfortable with any of them. Dr. Otis assisted last minute with an emergency with kindness and care. Overall, love them all! Thank you for all you do!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Cosentino cares so well for my 11-year-old doxi with diabetes and Cushing disease, not to mention for my 14-year-old beagle. They’re enjoying their “senior years” in his caring hands. A “shout out” and kudos as well to Dr. Cauthen who has also cared for them often, as well as for my other 2 rescues, 11-year-old basset hound Cappuccino (“Cappy”) and 7-year-old little girl basenji Maple. Dr. Cauthen saw Maple just this past Saturday after a cottomouth bite right in our back yard (is there anyplace safe?) and expertly got her triaged to CVETS for appropriate specialized care. Maple thanks you Dr. Cauthen; she’s doing well… and almost back to her “old self” (i.e. “cat-like” grooming the 3 “boys” and “bossing” them around!).

Fantastic experience: Like lots of cats, my big orange guy isn’t crazy about trips to the vet. He has seen Dr. Harris twice and seems pretty calm while the doc is handling him. In general he seems more comfortable than at his previous vet who also has dogs in the waiting area. I like Dr. Harris a lot too.

Fantastic experience: Care and compassion are top priorities here undoubtedly. I took in my German Shepherd and she has never done better at a vet! We will be continuing care with Shandon Wood Animal Clinic, our baby couldn’t be in better hands!

Fantastic experience: When I suspected my cat had a UTI SWAC was able to schedule the appointment for the next day. I was in and out of SWAC within an hour of my appointment time after a full check up for my cat.

Fantastic experience: I cannot emphasize enough how great Shandon Wood is. We have used them for over 6 years with our very active and accident-prone dogs and every dollar spent there has been worth it. Their ability to get us straight in whenever we have an injury/illness has relieved so much anxiety and saved us from many expensive emergency vet visits. From the front desk staff, to the vet techs and doctors, they always understand the urgency/compassion/communication needed when your pup is hurting. I’ve heard so many horror stories from others about their vets and all I can ever tell them is go to Dr Sine at Shandon Wood!

Fantastic experience: I've been to a few animal clinics in Columbia and by far I had the best experience here. They didn't push me to do a lot of unnecessary tests or shots, they asked what was going on, Dr. Otis came in and told me what he thought, gave me a prescription, and answered my questions. I was in an out in less than 30 minutes. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Shandon-Wood vets are always available to see your pet at a moment’s notice! They saw my dog who had a wound on his foot, almost immediately.. They cleaned it, treated it and sent us on our way. All done very professionally and very quickly.

Negative experience: Dr. Harris is the only vet here worth seeing. The vet techs are bad and have been for years because they do not pay them well, from what I've heard from former employees who have moved to other practices. They will tell you they are all specially trained to deal with difficult or feral cats but they are not at all. Dr. Weber on Rosewood is great. I wish I had found her first. I would have been saved so much money and heartache.

Fantastic experience: They took care of my sweet pup during her emergency surgery and not only was she in great hands, but they made sure I was ok despite being an emotional wreck. Surgery went well and she’s recovering up now. Best vet in Columbia. I wouldn’t take my baby anywhere else

Fantastic experience: DR SINE IS THE G.O.A.T. (she won't know what that means) but Shandon has some of the best doctors ever; Murdock, Harris, Rasor, & Cauthen are all awesome! I will never take my animals anywhere else, they listen to me, respect my opinions, wants, and needs and truly care about their patients!

Fantastic experience: My son’s puppy sadly caught parvo. He was distraught of course. The doctor and everyone there were so kind to him and to me (worried mom far away). We got daily updates and they were so incredibly kind and helpful!!! The pup is now recovered and back at home! What a wonderful group!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been taking my dog here for years and the staff are great! Dr. Cosentino always explains exactly what he’s doing and why in an understandable way, is quick, and answers all my questions. I appreciate this because other vets tend to just hand me meds and a bill with little explanation or start doing things without asking. Their prices aren’t insanely high either.

Fantastic experience: Over the years, all my dogs and cats have gone to Shandon-Wood … I can’t say enough good things about the wonderful doctors, techs, and other staff who love my current Willy and Jack like their own! Dr. Sine saved the life of Willy, our Lhasa Apso, by discovering his mast cell tumor early enough for surgery and chemotherapy to extend his life by 2.5 years and counting. We are so grateful to have Shandon-Wood taking care of our precious ones!
