CVETS - Columbia Veterinary Emergency Trauma and Specialty: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Outstanding care for our dog. Thank you! Sparky's veterinarian was very thorough with me at discharge. I really appreciated that. Also utilizing the ASPCA Poison Control Line was much appreciated. Thanks to all of the other staff as well - front desk and vet tech. Everyone was friendly, polite and professional. What I appreciated most is the rapid and excellent care that Sparky received.
Fantastic experience: Had to bring in my cat and they were quick and understanding. Caring and reassuring. Not that I hope I ever have to come back, but if I had to I would go back no doubt
Fantastic experience: Very clean and friendly staff. Compassionate and caring for my animals and myself. Sometimes you have to make a hard decision to put your pet down due to costs associated with surgery, and these guys do not try to guilt you into spending thousands of dollars on a pet. It is hard enough to make the decision to extend or end life without vets looking down on you. Definitely recommend these guys to everyone.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Wolfe and the CVETS team provided outstanding surgery and care to Brandy. What I appreciated most is the quality, compassionate and professional experience all around. I strongly recommend CVETS!
Fantastic experience: My experience with the CVETS personnel was excellent, from the initial intake on the phone to the visit to the facility itself. The vet tech who interacted with me was calm, compassionate, and professional. She consulted with the vet, and then provided their advice in a way that allayed my anxiety about my dog's condition. I left grateful and assured. Thanks to all the staff! I tried to catch the name of the vet tech who spoke with me . . . I think it was Anna, but I'm not sure. She was great. What I appreciated most is the demeanor, professionalism, and caring of the staff.
Fantastic experience: My cat's care was top notch. I knew she was in the best care which is why I brought her there! The vet tech in internal medicine took her time to show me how to express Claudia's bladder. She was very patient and kind. I'm not sure what her name was but she has short hair. Also the social worker was incredibly helpful! What I appreciated most is how caring everyone was. They spoke about my pet like she actually mattered and they truly cared for her!
Negative experience: They held us over the fire with our dog. I would compare our experience to the service you would expect at a car dealership. They worked up an estimate for Jake’s treatment plan and presented it to us. The vet tech didn’t just come out and say what they had to do, she kept trying to overexplain everything to add value to their estimate. When she did show the price to us, which was incredulous, she said that she would go and talk to her boss to see if they could get the price to come down. Why in the world would you want to wheel and deal with someone when you are trying to save their pet’s life? We spent close to $20,000 on Jake there. The price they gave us initially kept going up because they had to keep doing more and more things… it was ridiculous. They also refuse to do anything to your animals until they receive payment. They kept our dog and every time they called there was a new estimate for something else that had to be done. They would never proceed unless I gave them a credit card number again and again.
Fantastic experience: Over the years, CVETS has cared for a number of my personal dogs and dogs in my rescue (Save the Strays Animal Rescue). Recently, they took care of Gilley, one of our rescue dogs who had ingested pieces of a rubber toy. They performed an endoscopy to remove the piece in her stomach and, fortunately, the other piece passed. They kept Gilley comfortable and well cared for during her 4-day stay and she returned her usual energetic self. It's a great comfort to have such an outstanding facility with so many specialists and specialty services within an hour's drive.
Fantastic experience: I would surely have lost him and he would have suffered he was taken back almost immediately for evaluation and treatment in early morning hours. Thank goodness Dr Gantt and Dr. Mark and all the techs I interacted with were so kind Skill of care and facility were great
Fantastic experience: Wonderful, care, staff and facilities. Thank you for helping care for my dog when she (and we) needed it most! What I appreciated most is their compassionate care and follow up
Fantastic experience: CVETS!!! Can’t thank our normal veterinarian for recommending this place!! We drove 2.5 hrs from Asheville and would do it again if we had to! Care was top notch! We were so glad to be surrounded by board certified professionals to help with my own anxiety of having to leave my pup overnight! -Camille and her knowledge of everything with scheduling and had many answers to all my questions!! -Dr. Schick and her explaining the situation at hand, the surgery, and the recovery process in great detail and going above and beyond to make us feel comfortable about it all! -I didn't get the ladies name but if looking at the desk the one who sits on the left! Such a friendly personality which is great for dealing with stressed "pawrents" and money together!! :) Thank you all!!
Fantastic experience: I appreciate how the events of surgery were explained thoroughly and in an understandable way by the vet and that staff kept in touch through text and pictures to let us know how our dog was doing throughout her time there. The discharge visit was extremely helpful in allowing us to understand what the course of recovery for TPLO surgery would be. All of the staff was professional and courteous.
Fantastic experience: I am somewhat new to living in (Camden) SC and I appreciate CVETS being available to see my little dog when most vets are not open. I also appreciate the offer to call them with any further questions and a future follow-up.
Fantastic experience: Outstanding care and left Dr. Dunphy with a greater understanding of my Kleio's psoas condition. She began treatment immediately following the very clear and concise ultrasound. This is the only hospital to go to for conditions that are underdianosed by the veterinary world. It was a great first visit and Kleio is on her way to competing competitively again in North America Diving Dogs. Im not the best with names, but Dr. Dunphy's tech is a winner. What I appreciated most is Dr. Dunphy's knowledge, understanding, sense of humor and thoroughness in treating Kleio.
Fantastic experience: It was a great experience as usual. Dr Lawler is so good with Elliott. She is always willing to listen to what I have to say about how Elliott is doing at home and what I am concerned about Everyone was so helpful. I always make my heart sing when they all greet Elliott by name and seem excited to see him! What I appreciated most is the friendliness and compassion of the staff. Vet willing to listen to my questions
Fantastic experience: The staff was so comforting and caring my dog is my world and they treated us like that! I highly recommend cvets we were traveling and out of state when we had a serious emergency. With their help we were able to bring her home so she can visit her regular vet who's more familiar with her situation. Big shout-out to cvets entire staff
Fantastic experience: I would like to thank the staff at CVETS for their care of Salley. Their kindness and care made the decision of letting Salley pass on easier. I could never thank them enough for the compassion shown to me and Salley. May God Bless you for ending Salley suffering and pain.
Fantastic experience: I was extremely impressed with the expedited response and the level of care provided to Lily Mae. She was a very sick and needed emergency surgery. The staff up front were over the top helpful and empathetic to my situation. The medical staff took great care of Lily and kept me updated on her progress and options open to me. It was appreciated. The front desk staff were professional and friendly. The Techs and Assistants were very helpful and informative. The doctors were knowledgeable and clearly explained my options. What I appreciated most is the empathetic and knowledgeable staff.
Fantastic experience: Cvets ,as always, took great care of my little Cooper. They even left a sweet note on the discharge paperwork.
Fantastic experience: We really appreciated the time the Vet spent with us! Having been to other Urgent cares where they take your animal back and not bring them back to you we also really appreciated the fact we could sit and wait with our dog. They would take him back run tests etc then bring him back to us and everyone was so nice!! What I appreciated most is the time and attention given to us.
Fantastic experience: All of the faculty and staff are extremely professional and friendly. Our doctors, Bohn and Kraiza treated our Bailey with loving concern. They talked and explained things to us and answered all of our questions and took their time with our visits. We appreciate and love Dr. Bohn and Dr. Kraiza and all of the staff in the cancer department. What I appreciated most is the caring, knowledge, professional, and empathy
Fantastic experience: Every single time I have been to CVETS I have had a heart warming experience, even though the hard visits and goodbyes, or see you laters!! God bless y'all! My two Angels rest easy now!
Thank you so much for your kind and touching words. We’re deeply sorry for your losses and honored to have been there for you during such meaningful and difficult moments.
Even through the hardest goodbyes, it means so much to know our team was able to provide comfort, compassion, and care. Please know our thoughts are with you and your two sweet angels — they will always be remembered.
Fantastic experience: My cats were in an apartment fire. Terrified for their lives brought them here at 8 pm to get evaluated and although emergency care is expensive they went out of their way to help how they could without growing impatient. We had to be patient as well because although it took time to go through the whole process they took what could’ve been one of our most devastating days in our lives they made it as painless as possible.
Fantastic experience: CVets has been wonderful. The staff, Dr Kennerly, they all show such compassion . They listen, they discuss and explain everything and I can tell they all love animals. My dog is always so nervous when going to a vet but not a CVets. He walks right in and feels at home. Thank you CVets for your knowledge and outstanding care and love! Dr Kennerly is amazing, brilliant, kind and caring! What I appreciated most is they all truly care for their patients and their patients owners:)
Negative experience: Here’s my review. You keep shoving this in my face to leave a review and I haven’t even got there yet. I’m trying to pre register on your site as we are on the way BUT YOU KEEP SHUTTING ME OUT AND REDIRECTING ME TO LEAVE A REVIEW !! So here’s my review. I sure as heck hope your veterinary services are BETTER than your website …otherwise I may be bringing my puppy to her death.
Thank you for bringing your puppy in; we are very glad we could provide the necessary treatment.
We apologize for the technical issue you encountered on our website. We identified a redirect error on our website and have corrected it.
We attempted to reach out to you directly to apologize and check on your puppy’s progress, but we haven't been able to connect. Your experience is important to us, and we appreciate the feedback that helped us fix this glitch.
We wish your puppy a smooth recovery.
Fantastic experience: Excellent, professional treatment by everyone we came into contact with. Had a emergency issue on Sunday 2/1/2026 with our dog who had a sudden onset of Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) in dogs is a common, painful spinal condition where cushions between vertebrae bulge or burst, compressing the spinal cord and causing pain, wobbling, or paralysis. Our dog's back legs were paralyzed. Dr McAtee did an evaluation on him to confirm our suspicions and provided us with a comprehensive review and his opinions on going forward. He was very professional and patient with his findings. Unfortunately, the final decision was to put our boy down. The entire process was handled with great care and respect. We are grateful for Dr McAtee and his staff for helping us through a difficult time and decision.
Fantastic experience: Thank heavens CVETS was open, even with snowy and ice covered streets, when our regular vet was closed. When your pet is sick, and it's an emergency, you need a qualified vet and a reliable clinic, so we headed for CVETS. Vespa received a quick diagnosis and excellent care. She's on antibiotics and is recovering nicely. If the infection had continued until our regualar vet opened, she would have lingered in pain and would have gotten worse. The receptionist, assistants, and vet were wonderful at CVETS, and I am grateful for their professional and dedicated service. Dr. Edwards was wonderful. I was very afraid my cat had a blockage and needed surgery, but Dr. Edwards was confident that she had UTI and needed antibiotics. I was so relieved and grateful for her professional diagnosis. All of the staff members on site at Oakcrest were wonderful on February 1st, but I cannot remember all of their names. I was thrilled they were there and that CVETS was open because if Vespa had suffered from a blockage, she might have needed immediate surgery. It takes a qualified vet with clinical support to make a trustworthy diagnosis, so thanks to all for being there! What I appreciated most was the CVETS staff. The staff was highly professional and completely dedicated to the care of my pet.
Positive experience: The care itself for Roxie was excellent. Every staff member I spoke to was pleasant, caring and respectful from the check in to check out. What I appreciated most is the care they gave my fur baby, Roxie. The only disappointment was how long it took from check in to check out...almost 4 hours! They took Roxie back to doctor within an hour and a half and the tech brought her back to me in about a half hour-45 minute. However, I had to wait for almost an hour for doctor to come speak to me...about 20 min after talking to doctor, they had me pay (which in my opinion was pricy for an eye check and antibiotic) then I had to wait at least another 30-40 min for nurse/tech to bring me the meds out to me and give me instructions. With this said, I would go to them again if I needed urgent care for Roxie or any of my other dogs because the most important thing to me is to make sure my dog is receiving excellent care and I think she did there.
Fantastic experience: We used CVets for an emergency for our dog Sunny. Excellent care. Highly recommend. Dr Kyle's McAfee was great. Very knowledgeable and caring.
Thank you for trusting us with Sunny’s care and for the kind recommendation. We’re so glad to hear you had a great experience and that Dr. McAtee provided knowledgeable, compassionate care. We’ll be sure to share your feedback with the team!
Fantastic experience: Amazing all around. I truly appreciated the in depth explanation from Dr Gallagher regarding PJs procedure. Our intake/discharge person was great! I am sorry that I didn't get her name. What I appreciated most is the deep knowledge of PJs condition.
Fantastic experience: We cannot say enough wonderful things about all of the doctors and nurses who attended our boy while he was in the ICU. We were updated regularly and had all questions answered with patience and kindness. His care was second to none and we know it was the care that he received that brought him back home to us! Dr Johnson (the Internal Medicine Specialist) was so kind, compassionate and professional. She made sure we understood what was happening every step of the way and helped us make the best decisions for our boy. And her "bedside manner" is just the sweetest - she always made us feel hopeful and uplifted after every consultation! Dr Kennerly was also wonderful. So grateful our boy has such a caring cardiologist! Every overnight (and daytime) ICU doctor and all of the nurses and techs were just incredible - they comforted us so much and showed us how much our boy was cared about and loved while in their charge! Thank you to one and all of the CVETS Staff - You are truly the best!!
Fantastic experience: I drive from Charleston so my girl can see Dr. Kraiza. Everyone at CVETS has been amazing through our Cancer journey. Y'all go above and beyond! The specialty receptionists are also amazing.
Fantastic experience: Everyone at CVETS is kind and accommodating, which I especially appreciate because my dog is not friendly to other pets and most humans. But she's always excited to see her friends at CVETS , especially Shannon, Dr Brown, and Suzy.
Thank you for your kind words! We’re so glad your dog feels comfortable and happy at CVETS, and we’ll be sure to share your appreciation with Shannon, Dr. Brown, and Suzy. It means so much to know our team has earned her trust and excitement!
Fantastic experience: We were moved from the West Columbia location to do the health issues required our dog to stay over night for extra care. The entire staff was super caring and really professional. They quickly identified what was ailing our sweet girl and started her on the path to recovery. After an 2 nights, she was back to her old self. We are so grateful for Dr. Johnson and her staff. They really are a remarkable team.
Fantastic experience: The care we rec'd was so comfortable and informative by the front desk staff, the Vet Tech, and the on-call Doctor! What I appreciated most is the compassionate care and attention both me and my pet received!
Fantastic experience: Everyone has been friendly, understanding and caring about my boy Blitz. From the initial phone call to the actual visit everyone has been thorough and compassionate. Everyone! What I appreciated most is the compassion and kindness and thoroughness.
Fantastic experience: The front door staff are very welcoming. The nurses who come out to get your fur baby are very compassionate and truly care. Dr Haviland is absolutely the best. Bambi has been her patient for about 5 years. She is always so caring when it comes to our Bambi and her multiple disorders/conditions. We are so fortunate we were referred to CVETS all those years ago. They truly are top notch and are the experts when it comes to animals in need. They are worth every cent spent as their expert care has given us the ability to enjoy a 'happy and healthy Bambi' in our lives for just a little longer ❤️ Dr Havilands nurse Denise Hardin has always showed true concern towards Bambi. She talks to her gently and is just so sweet to her. Bambi can get nervous and accidentally piddled on Denise at our last visit and as apologetic as I was, Denise brushed her legg off and told me not to worry about it. She is just a gentle, caring person. A real asset to Dr Haviland and to all of CVETS. What I appreciated most is the compassion that every employee shows. They are special people to care and love animals so much.
Fantastic experience: Everyone was great and attentive. In a very stressful time the team at CVets made me feel at ease and that my dog was getting the best care! Dr Gallagher and his entire team and Dr G in the ER were great to work with. Would recommend CVETS 100%
Fantastic experience: Excellent! All! Everyone had a great sense of humor and yet very professional. They were all so good at making an uncomfortable situation as comfortable as possible.. What I appreciated most is the compassion, professionalism, and knowledge.
Fantastic experience: Rufus is always super well taken care of and I have no doubts he is always in the best hands there! Adore Dr. Kennerly and is fabulous as always. This was my first time meeting Dr. Natalie Clark and she was wonderful! All of the techs and receptionists take very good care of the Covelli family! What I appreciated most is compassion and treating me as both a client and a veterinarian and the lengths they go to really get to the bottom of everything
Fantastic experience: Sakari was very well cared for and we trusted the doctors and staff. Everyone was wonderful. Thank you to Brb a the front for knowing how sick Sakari was. Thank you to Sarah Weaver for being a sign from above (there is a story there) but Sarah was amazing. Dr. Purdue for being the most caring, kind, and gentle doctor. Dr. Rush for giving the worst news with kindness, warmth and grace. Please let the staff know how grateful we are for the care Sakari and her parents received. Sakari passed over the Rainbow Bridge on 1/20/26. She woke up on the morning of the 20th with a GI bleed from the cancer. She let us know it was time. What I appreciated most is the kindness and care Sakari and us were given. On top of that we felt like everything that could be done was done and left knowing what was wrong.
Fantastic experience: The care was excellent. The staff were all friendly and helpful. It was a really inviting environment and extremely clean. All of the clinical staff were very knowledgeable. I travelled from Augusta, GA for a consult, and it was worth the drive.
Fantastic experience: Excellent care was provided to Rubble. I couldn't be happier with everyone involved at the facility. I am happy to continue to refer from Cashua Veterinary Care in Florence due to excellent care that I have seen firsthand! Rubble would not be here today without Dr. Bohn and supportive staff!
Fantastic experience: Couldn’t have had a better experience during a rough time. Everyone was incredibly kind and supportive. The care couldn’t have been any better for our pet. Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: One of the best experiences I’ve had with a vet ever. When my cat Peaches stopped acting right they were doing all they could to find answers. Doctor Perdue and Doctor Kennerly were who we dealt with, and they were both incredibly knowledgeable with a great ability to help us understand what was wrong. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: From the receptionist area, to taking of our dog's vitals, to the incredible visit with Dr. Becky Brown, to the check-out, it was a fabulous experience. Dr. Becky Brown. We had heard from so many clients, even the people who work at CVETS, how incredible she is. My wife and I were most pleased with her demeanor, listening skills, and the comprehensive nature of the visit. CVETS is most fortunate to have her on staff. What I appreciated most is the personal and professional ambiance from the beginning to the end of our visit.
Fantastic experience: Dr Dunphey and Kayli were amazing with Bailey, and her parents! We were coming in for aqua therapy after a TPLO surgery at Grace Animal Hospital. Immediately after Baileys surgery I reached out about aqua therapy and got in contact with Kayli and I was sharing my concerns that our vet didn't give us any at home motion exercises to do, and Kayli was SO KIND, she got us in touch with Dr. Dunphey who shared what exercises CVET recommended and answered several other questions we had about post op care. When we came for aqua therapy they sat and talked with us like they had no other appointments to see that day. We never felt rushed during the appointment and you could tell their affection for Bailey was sincere, and they interacted with her wonderfully. They definitely made us feel welcome and at home during the appointment. Dr. Dunphey answered additional questions we had about joint supplements, which she didn't have to do, being we were there just for therapy. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Dunphey and Kayli. Dr. Dunphey and Kayli- they could not have been more wonderful! What I appreciated most is the level of compassion they had for Bailey, and her parents, and their willingness to share information action without even knowing us, and with no expectation of becoming clients. They were truly helping for our baileys benefit and expecting nothing in return. That's a vet clinic that's doing things right- putting pets first!
Fantastic experience: The waiting room: From the moment we walked in the door it was going to either be emergent or treatable with antibiotics. From the front desk, to the vet techs, doctors, and everyone in the background un-seen I was impressed by them all and their amazing system to prioritize emergency vs non-emergent. They got her back immediately made the proper assessments and came back with an update on the next possible step to diagnose if we saw fit, we did, before she could be brought back for the test a serious emergency came in and the words “she’s stable” came from the techs mouth to me and she handed off the leash and IMMEDIATELY helped the non stable patient. We were happy to be in the waiting room this day, being patient while those had to wait with no possible answers and waiting to get the worse news she didn’t want to hear. Now mind you this office is very very good at being subtle about information and this was all me observing every detail and working in healthcare while trying not to let my self panic over my own dog. A few moments later our dog was given the next test and came back for evaluation a few days later and I can say I’m still glad to be waiting while watching the amazing staff flow like a well oiled machine! I HIGHLY recommend CVETS for your pets emergency and pets care. PSA my dog has severe anxiety when we go to our regular vet 10/10 it’s awful. When she is at CVETS it’s a 4/10 I don’t know why or how but she may be picking up on their perfect vibe, THANK YOU CVETS!
Negative experience: I do not recommend this office unless you want to give money away. It has taken me a while to write this after the loss of my dog who was my child. When I say this institution is not worried about anything other than collecting money from those that are seeking help for their family members. I took my dog there because she was not acting herself when I got home. When arrived we were met with less than friendly staff. We gave our name and took a seat, after an hour my dog became restless and so I was going to leave and take her to SCEV where she had been before. Cvets wouldn’t let me leave, they started having conversations at the counter about me wanting to leave and then a nurse came and got my dog who was so scared she urinated all over the floor. We sat there for 6 hours to be told that she had a UTI. I was told that she had COPD which she never had before then was told it was pneumonia. They had me pay the entire over night stay before I left. The next day I went to see her and they put me in a room and brought in a card reading machine and wouldn’t let me see her until I paid for another stay. I was told that she was doing better but not out of the woods yet and they would call if there were any changes. The following day I received a call saying that I needed to be up there by 3. In a panic I show up to be told that she was doing better, they let me see her for 5 minutes and then the doctor led me to a room in the back to discuss treatment. When she was done she said that she was going to get a nurse to take me back to see my dog and instead a nurse came in the room with a card reading machine telling that I had to pay $3,700+ for the treatment, mind you I have already paid out over $2,500. They would not let me see her until I made payment. After the money was paid I got to see her again. They said the same thing no news is good news and another doctor was taking over at 7pm. I received a call at 2:30am telling me my dog passed. I arrived to pick her up and before they would bring her into the room, they came in with guess what -a card reading machine telling me I owed $2,600. And it had to be paid before they released her. I took her to a wonderful crematory Peacefule Paws who treated her extremely well. Will never go again to CVETS and will never recommend them.
Fantastic experience: I felt very comfortable with the care provided and felt the evaluation and recommendation for treatment has Maddie's best interest in mind. I cannot remember her name but the vet tech was amazing!!!! What I appreciated most is the understanding and willingness to spend time explaining the situation and the options. I felt well informed about the prognosis and the options for the best path forward. I didn't feel rushed
Fantastic experience: Our experience with CVETS so far has been an extremely good one, despite the stressful circumstances we first arrived under. We were sent here by Dr. Quintero of UrgentVet Spartanburg in December after she diagnosed Renfield with afib. He spent two nights at CVETs and was seen early that Monday morning by Dr. Kennerly, who diagnosed him with DCM and put us on track with treatment. Despite being a nearly two hour drive from home, I'm glad we were sent here for treatment. Renfield is dog reactive and they have been extremely patient in working with us and in getting us into a room with Renfield as soon as we come in. During his time in ICU, I was kept informed on his condition and able to check in on him at any time. Dr. Kennerly spoke with me over the phone after Renfield's diagnosis and took the time to explain his condition, his medications, and set expectations for his health going forward. As of yesterday, we visited in order to recieve a holter monitor for 24 hours to assess his condition a month into treatment. I appreciated the paper copies of instructions/explanations we recieved after both of our appointments with CVETS, as it can be difficult to remember all of the details after-the-fact. I've frequently referenced the packet of information we were given after his first visit, particularly for the dietary recommendations. While expensive, the prices at CVETs did not go over what my expectations were for an emergency vet visit or care regarding a giant-breed dog with a heart condition. I was able to choose to put part of the bill on a payment plan through Cherry (this does require applying to Cherry and receiving an approval). We did have a bit of wait the very first time we came in, but the emergency room had been busy and the staff had been trying to contact the vet who referred us, as well as wait to see if they could hear from the cardiologist who is off-site on the weekend, so it was understandable. For our appointment, we were immediately seen and spent less than an hour total at CVETS. I'm glad to have the CVETs cardiology team looking after Renfield. Learning that he had heart disease was scary and stressful, but I feel confident in the quality of care that we'll be able to give him going forward. Right now, he's still happy and fairly healthy, and that's all I could ask for.
Fantastic experience: I feel Tilley got the care she needed. I don't have any complaints about my recent visits. Everyone was great. You have a very nice staff. What I appreciated most is that Tilley is better. Thank you very much❤️
Negative experience: They charge an absurd amount of money for every little thing they can. For a 15 min post op therapy $162!!! For 15 min!! Dropped my dog off for surgery at 6:30 am just for them to not do the surgery until 4pm just so they can keep her overnight and guess what another charge!! Even though I had her there on time I get the extra charge. Thanks Cvets for taking so long and that additional charge for taking your time. Not to mention am additional charge for day time because I was told couldn't pick her up until 10 am!!! I could pick her up at 7 am just and not get the charge but guess they wanted to slap that additional charge in there because THEY told me to pick up at 10 am. This place makes no sense and is all about the money. Oh and the pathetic military/EMT discount is disgusting slap in the face after all the unnecessary charges. Never will I come back to this greedy place be prepared to be penny pinched!!
Fantastic experience: Cvets goes above and beyond to create a wonderful and positive experience. I met with the cardiology department to have my furry boy Teddy evaluated. Doctor Kennerly and her team are outstanding. I left there with complete trust in their ability to help my Teddy have his best possible life going forward.
Fantastic experience: UPDATED REVIEW 12/31/25 CVETS is my first choice for specialty and emergency care. Dr Bohn (neurology)has seen my whippet Fiona since 2020. I am thankful we have knowledgeable and caring specialists like her here in Columbia. I’m also thankful there are other specialists including a cardiologist plus an amazing ER staff in this same location. I now have two whippets (Fiona and Jase) seeing Dr Kennerly, who is an amazing cardiologist. I feel we always receive excellent care. Fiona at some point will go into CHF. These visits (along with medication changes) are giving me more time with her. She's doing fine right now so we are hoping to delay progression for as long as possible. Jase has been in and out of CHF since May 2025. Her care and medication adjustments continue to give me more quality time with him. Appointments are easy to schedule and pricing is reasonable.
Fantastic experience: Overall, our visit was a truly terrific experience. We were met with genuine care and empathy, received a timely diagnosis and were given ample time to ask questions and feel confident in the care plan. What stood out most was Dr. Edwards going out of her way to personally call us with results that evening before leaving work. She easily could have waited until the next day, but she didn’t and it made all the difference. Because of her care, we were able to start our dog on steroids that same night, which immediately helped keep her comfortable during an incredibly difficult time. We were also provided with everything we needed to focus on our main goal: keeping our pup comfortable. I deeply appreciated Dr. Edwards’ attention to detail and her empathetic approach to our care. While we are devastated by her diagnosis, I left CVETS feeling confident, informed, and supported, with a clear understanding of what was happening and how to care for my pup moving forward. The first responder discount was also sincerely appreciated during such a stressful time. Dr. Edwards and CVETS team, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your compassion, dedication, and exceptional care.
Negative experience: I totally get triage but this place totally lacks any communication therefore their professionalism is far below minimal expectations for a “professional” organization of educated veterinarians. Obviously customer service is nit taught in vet school. They have you held hostage for your time and wallet any any type if empathy towards the pet owners. Checking out to pay hundreds of dollars takes an incredible amount of time which is also incredibly unprofessional and unnecessary. I would say stay away but options are vey scarce.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear you were disappointed with your experience, particularly regarding communication and wait times. This is not the level of care or professionalism we strive to provide. We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your concerns directly — please contact us at [email protected] so we can better understand your experience.
Fantastic experience: For the past 2.5 years Forest has battled fungal meningitis. It has been touch and go several times but thanks to the care and knowledge of the staff , in particular Dr Bohn his neurologist, he has managed to hold his own so far. We are hopefully optimistic that his health will continue to improve but we can only take it one day at a time. I feel that he is in the best hands possible right now and I am grateful for the care that we have received from CVETS .
Fantastic experience: While the wait was long (due to the amount of emergencies that night), it was so worth it. Everyone was so nice, and I felt they cared for Maximus' well-being. The vet tech that helped us was so, so nice! I really appreciated their attitude, and every time they came in I felt a lot more comfortable because it felt they really cared.
Fantastic experience: The team was excellent! The were quick to take Murray (canine) back for chocolate ingestion and kept me informed the entire visit. I didn't catch anyone's name but the staff that was there Sat 12/27 at 1:40 PM when we arrived were phenomenal. I will definitely use again and recommend to others. Thank you so much - you took care of Murray when I wasn't certain he'd be okay!
Positive experience: The care glacier received was great while I was there, how ever when picking him up I learned in the roughly 3 hours they had him he was not fed, he was not helped to use the restroom, he just laid in the incubator waiting on the neurologist. He was 3 weeks old and needed to eat every 2 hours and helped to use the rest room at least that often. Everyone I felt with were absolutely amazing! How ever I don't like that I had to pay $920 before dropping him off I paid cash, but when I picked him up I needed to be refunded $497 and they couldn't give me my cash that I had just handed them a few hours earlier. I had to and am currently still waiting to get a check in the mail. My visit was on the 24th of December and today is the 29th. What I appreciated most is how everything was explained to me so well. I left from there with no questions on how to properly care for my pet nor what to watch for for worsening symptoms for hydrocephalus.
Fantastic experience: Everyone from reception to the neurologist were phenomenal. Honestly, this would be everyone I encountered this appointment. They were all phenomenal!! What I appreciated most is how well everyone understood my old man dog and his mood. They were all very kind, gentle and respectful.
Fantastic experience: We obviously never want to have to go to CVETS with a pet in need BUT let me tell you something, they are the absolute best. They are so responsive, gave our pup great care and comfort, along with checking in on him after. I’m forever grateful for this clinic. We would’ve lost both our pups without them and now we get many years to love them!
Fantastic experience: Excellent!!! Dr. Kennerly is the best!!! I would like to recognize everyone listed! It was a very busy afternoon and everyone was so nice and accommodating. I'm so happy we have such an excellent hospital for our pets. What I appreciated most is having Dr. Kennerly as Otter's cardiologist. She is so understanding, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. She is absolutely the best!!
Fantastic experience: My cat was attacked so we took her to this facility. She was immediately taken back to see a vet. The staff was amazing from the front door creating until the end. It was a hard day but the staff was caring and kind making the process as bearable as possible.
Negative experience: My daughter had to have her pet transferred to CVets for hospitalization. The vets office called first to get a quote of cost. Whoever her vet spoke to quoted $600 for what she needed. When she arrived, the doctor there said that was wrong and they wouldn’t quote that. THEN, her discharge instructions were for a different pet that wasn’t hers. When she called about it (she needed correct feeding instructions for HER pet), they said they would fix it and email her the correct paperwork. The emailed instructions were still for another pet that was not hers! We do NOT recommend CVets for these reasons.
Fantastic experience: Just picked up our boy after his 2nd TPLO and just like the first time they took amazing care of him! Can’t recommend CVETs and their staff enough for any specialty care!
Fantastic experience: CVETS (specifically Dr. Audrey Genade) was absolutely wonderful in providing urgent veterinary (and ultimately end of life) care for my Chrissy. Dr. Genade’s energy, informative nature, and compassion made the entire process so much less stressful and ultimately helped me to make the best decision for my girl.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re honored that Dr. Genade and our team could provide compassionate and supportive care for Chrissy during such a difficult time. It means so much to know that our guidance helped you make the best decisions for her, and we truly appreciate you trusting CVETS with her care.
Fantastic experience: Our dog Chatham had an injury while at day camp. The CVET staff were all very empathic and caring toward Chatham which helped him feel less anxious from his trauma. The staff explained what the treatment would entail and what to do help Chatham with after care to recover from his injury.
Fantastic experience: Staff took care of us very quickly and gave medication to make my pet comfortable. We had a hour drive and I greatly appreciat the prompt evaluation of his condition. Thankfully he is doing better than expected and is improving every day.
Fantastic experience: VERY CARING!!!! They did a full exam on Tuxie. Took the time to explain EVERYTHING, even over and over again, so I understood ALL instructions and diagnosis's. Clean facility, everyone was so nice and compassionate. Her vet assistant, sorry I don't remember her name and Dr. Lawler. They both took very good care of Tuxie. What I appreciated most is, the LOVE they have for our fur babies!
Fantastic experience: Knowledgeable and professional staff from the moment we walked in the door! Dr Andrea was knowledgeable and took the time to explain what was going on and treatment options. All the technician were absolutely amazing as well. Second time in 2 years I have experienced the BEST EXPERIENCE! Would recommend for any pet owner!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Haviland is always great, and she is super knowledgeable and friendly, both to me and Deimos (my cat). I don't trust his health with anyone else. In case it wasn't clear by now, Dr. Haviland! She's the best. :) What I appreciated most is the expertise of my vet, Dr. Haviland.
Thank you for this amazing review. We’re so glad to hear how much trust you have in Dr. Haviland and the care she provides to you and Deimos. Her expertise, kindness, and dedication truly make a difference, and we’ll be sure to share your kind words with her. We’re honored to be part of Deimos’s care.
Fantastic experience: Terrified by the results, but the news was handled with so much care and compassion. Top notch care and communication. The doctor, tech, and assistant are an AMAZING care team. 10/10! What I appreciated most is the people. They truly care.
Thank you for this heartfelt review. We understand how frightening receiving difficult news can be, and we’re honored our team was able to support you with care, compassion, and clear communication during that time. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with the doctor, technician, and assistant who cared for you and your pet. Your trust truly means everything to us.
Fantastic experience: We had a horribly traumatic Thanksgiving Day, and CVETS really took care of us. Everyone was kind, efficient, and incredibly empathetic. I believe my Chrissy would have crossed the rainbow bridge that day if all of the wonderful staff at CVETS hadn't been there for us. So, aside from thank you for working 24/7 365 days a year, thank you for providing wonderful care in a beautiful and state of the art facility.
Positive experience: They took good care of him, and explained everything I'd need to do to manage his care and what next steps/level to do for further treatment/evaluation. The Vet Dr. Brian Perdue was very kind and patient, took time to offer options for treatment for my dog Remy. What I appreciated most is they took the time to explain everything and options I had or needed to do to follow up with my dogs condition.
Fantastic experience: We are new to the area and had to make The almost one hour drive to cvets a few days ago for our cat. It was the middle of the night so staffing was low and it was a wait, but they were so kind and having coffee and snacks available in the waiting room is such a nice touch. The vet was very understanding about which route we wanted to take initially as it was the more Conservative and less costly option. Calling the next day to get a cardiology consult the ER receptionist patiently answered the million questions I had and was Very compassionate. We couldn’t get a sooner appointment so we were looking at having to come back through the ER and waiting as long as we had to to see cardiology. I could tell they felt bad they couldn’t help us get in sooner. A few minutes after hanging up they called me Back and said the cardiologist had read our cats ER notes and would find a way to work him for an appointment in the next day. I cried with relief on the phone. They took him back early for his appointment when they heard he was not doing well when I arrived, and the receptionist and nurse were so kind and compassionate. As it is an ER and specialty vet yes the cost estimates can be staggering, but it’s pretty in line with most ER vet clinic specialty costs everywhere. I felt very comforted and in excellent hands the whole time.
Fantastic experience: The whole process and experience with CVETS was great! My dog had to have surgery to repair his broken pelvis due to being run over and I was scared in the beginning but they were informative and helpful through the whole process. He had to stay for 3 nights and have surgery to have a plate screwed into his hip, it got pricey but it gave me peace of mind knowing they all genuinely cared for my little guy and were going to take great care of him. Can’t speak highly enough of all the employees there and Dr. Barillo. I live almost 2 hours away and will always return to them in emergencies.
Fantastic experience: Our dog was extremely sick and we had to make a difficult decision. The staff was incredibly helpful and supportive and somehow our dog ended up fine. Very emotional and the staff was extremely thorough and compassionate
Fantastic experience: This visit and all my previous visits have been great especially considering my dog's issue(s) and my stress over his well-being. Every time it has felt like they all genuinely care, not just about the animal but also about the owner(s). I wish I knew her name because one of the check-in ladies was especially helpful. I had expressed a need to use the restroom but not knowing what to do with my dog bundled in my arms. She displayed kindness and compassion and held my dog while I used the restroom and ran outside to get my sweater. All of the staff is kind and friendly. Even if I approach the desk multiple times I never felt like I was inconveniencing them (and I probably was). What I appreciated most is the kindness shown every time I have had to go in.
Fantastic experience: Just took our baby Nino to CVETS for compassionate euthanasia after a rapid decline in his normal behavior. Sorry I cannot remember any names, but all staff were wonderful and caring helping us thru this very painful loss. Thank you all so much.
Fantastic experience: We have been to Emergency Trauma and Specialty three times; and, they have been wonderful each time. Every person who works there have always been caring and loving to our little Luci and have taken care of my husband and me. We are an hour and a half away from CVET and I would drive it everyday if I had to. They are the best in every way towards our Luci and us. We have seen Emergency Doctors, Specialists (Internal Medicine and Cardiology) and the Nurses and Aides couldn’t have been more caring and loving to us. Don’t hesitate to take your Pets there. The Best!
Fantastic experience: Words can't express how thankful we are for the doctors and staff at CVETS! Our sweet Frenchie mix, Yogi, developed acute paralysis of his hind legs 1 week ago, and it turns out he had multiple herniated discs and hematomas. Due to limited weekend availability of a neurologist/surgeon in Georgia, we drove straight to Columbia, SC from Atlanta to CVETS per the recommendation of the Veterinarian that saw him at Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Brookhaven, GA. We were greeted by kind and attentive staff, who were expecting his arrival. He was promptly treated by the ER Veterinarian, Dr. Hardy, followed by MRI and hemilaminectomy by Dr. Barillo. He was hospitalized for 3 days, and he is now home recovering and walking! It is a miracle! We don't know what we would have done without this amazing group, especially Dr. Barillo, he kept us informed and updated throughout the entire process. Thank you again!!
Fantastic experience: I feel that the Dr thoroughly explained Emma's current condition, her numbers and treatment plan with care and compassion. I have several pets, and I am can tell that they would each be treated with kindness. Emma is vocal in a strange place, she was at ease while we were there and all the way home.
Positive experience: I have sadly been a very common person here of late. I am very grateful they are open 24/7. The staff has always been nice at the front and the vet nice. Some techs not so much but 90% have been wonderful. My first three visits had been Parvo puppies. The ones showing sick. The wait time was always really long. Why the 4 stars. Most waits where 5 hours after being checked in and being Parvo they didn't want us to leave the room. I get it, but maybe have a Parvo set room with its own bathroom attached if the owners can't leave the room. But anyway, last night I have a dog get bloat and rushed him in (they are an hour drive). I hoped we could do surgery and hopefully save him. But sadly at the time, I can't do 9k up front. So we sadly put him down over having him suffer. His visit went on the faster side of things and from start to finish was a bit over an hour. The staff and care is overall great. Sadly emergency visits are expensive. My normal vet had they been open would have been $1,500 to $3,000 and I would need to pay at pick up. So it would have given time to get some funds together. I could have figured out 9k or more if it was at pick up over right then. But at least he isn't suffering now.
Fantastic experience: I want to thank CVETS and their wonderful caring staff for their care of Jasper. Dr. Schick performed his surgery and kept me informed of his condition and progress. They encouraged visitation while he was in their ICU, which made him feel better and gave me the comfort of seeing him and the care he was receiving. Best thing I ever did was to entrust his care with them.
Fantastic experience: Professional, compassionate, thorough What I appreciated most is that they don't just patch your pet up and send you on your way. They investigate and communicate. On site diagnostic abilities bring great peace of mind.
Fantastic experience: I hope none of you ever need an Emergency Vet, but in case you do, I cannot say enough good things about CVETS Columbia Veterinary Emergency Trauma and Specialty! Aftera series of unfortunate events, I ended up taking RD there 2 times this weekend, the 2nd time resulting in surgery. Not only were they amazing w him and me. But as a previous human ER nurse myself, I watched in amazement as they ran their ER very similar to a human ER. I watched them take care of animals and their people w compassion and patience. I watched as they came together like a finely oiled machine when emergent patients arrived. I hate that we had to be there, but I'm so grateful they were there for us. True or false, it appeared that everyone there loved their job and took pride in the work they do. ❤️ I hope I don't have to make that drive again for a very long time but if I do, I can go there w confidence that we will be taken care of.
Fantastic experience: It’s been just under two weeks since we had to put our beloved Sebastian down and I’ve finally gotten the courage to face what I have to say about our experience with CVETS. When I say a disastrous couple of months couldn’t have gone better, as strange as it sounds, it’s true. Dr. Bohn and the entire neurology staff were exceptional and one of a kind. We went from a Wednesday yearly vet appointment with a “healthy middle aged dog” to Friday with his first would be seizure. As things progressed, Dr Bohn kept us well informed of every possibility, what to look for, signs of emergencies, and possible outcomes. She gave us hope when appropriate but kept us informed of her worries and concerns. As things progressed and got worse, she kept us educated every step of the way. Even when my husband was out of the country and it became apparent that the end was coming, she took time out of her busy day to call me and answer every question I had, discuss appropriate dosing of new medicine, and to truly make me feel like it was ok to think that it might be time. This is how I know that when the time came, even as I did it alone, that it was truly time. I had no hesitations, no additional questions, knew that what was expected was happening, and approached it with peace and calm that Sebastian deserved. What ended up being one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever gone through was the most peaceful and beautiful experience I’ll forever cherish. I got my dog for two more months, and will forever be grateful to the team there for everything they did. I didn’t remember the doctors name who helped us when it was time to bring Sebastian in, but she couldn’t have been more perfect in putting him down. She was thoughtful, calming, and nurturing and was exactly what I needed in letting my best friend go. I can’t thank CVETS enough for handling my best friend like he was one of theirs. I wouldn’t trust my animals in an emergency to anyone else. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: I brought my baby, Chico, in to be seen when he became very sick. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the front desk. The nurses and techs were all so gentle and caring with my baby, and I felt completely comfortable leaving him in their hands. Dr. Perdue and Dr. Gantt were amazing—kind, compassionate, and truly understanding. Chico had to stay in the ICU for two nights, and despite everyone’s best efforts, he sadly did not make it due to IMHA. Even in such a heartbreaking time, I know the entire CVETS team did everything possible to give him the best chance to fight. Ms. Kitty was especially sweet and caring during his final moments. I am deeply grateful to everyone at CVETS for the compassion and care you gave Chico. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Fantastic experience: I'm thankful for excellent service Dr Gallagher is a great person, excellent Dr. and his knowledge is evident. We greatly appreciate his empathy and love for animals. Thank you for taking care of our Annie. What I appreciated most is the professionalism and dedication of the team and their empathy
Fantastic experience: Dr. Kinnerly and her staff were wonderful! We received some shocking news at Dudley's recent Echo and they treated us like we were family. She took the time to go over her findings and answered all of our questions. We are blessed to have her as Dudley's DVM during this difficult time. ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We’re truly grateful to hear that Dr. Kennerly and our cardiology team were able to support you and Dudley during such a difficult appointment. Receiving unexpected news is never easy, and it means a lot to us that you felt cared for, heard, and treated like family.
Dudley is in wonderful hands, and we’re honored to be part of his care. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever need anything — we’re here for you both.
Fantastic experience: We had an amazing experience at CVETS! Our cat Teddy suddenly developed an arrhythmia and we were able to get him seen very quickly. The doctors we spoke to (Dr. Gregory and Dr. Buchert) were very kind, thorough, and helpful in walking us through next steps for Teddy. All of the gals at the front desk were just as kind and helpful as well (I wish I got their names, I know one person we worked with was Jessica)! We felt like Teddy was in great hands and were so grateful for all their help. Thank you CVETS!
Fantastic experience: Excellent care. Very informative Vet and staff during our visit. Detailed explaination of disease and care options including costs of options.
Fantastic experience: Though you always hear horror stories of how much taking your animal to the emergency vet costs, overall I felt like we had a great experience with CVETS. My baby had a urinary obstruction and we brought him in a little after midnight one night. They saw him immediately and had to keep him overnight for two nights. They were really great about keeping in touch with me to update me on how he was doing throughout the day while he was there and they even sent me pictures of him each morning (which I never would have expected a vet to do but absolutely loved and appreciated). After he discharged, they were still great, checking in on him and answering questions that I had about him and everything. Overall, we had a great experience with CVETS and though the price was a few thousand dollars, it was definitely worth it to save my baby’s life. <3 Would definitely take any of my furbabies back to CVETS if needed.
Fantastic experience: While this isn’t the review I want to write, this office deserves all the praise. We took our cat in last night due to some very quick health issues. The vet (I don’t remember his name) was very kind and compassionate. Walked us through our options and supported us with our decision. He helped our cat go to sleep easily and pain free. To the tech who met us at the door with our beloved Pretzel, Zachary, you were the angel we needed last night. Giving us some of Pretzel’s fur, speaking kind words to us, and even tearing up shows just how much you love your job and the community you serve.
Fantastic experience: The care to lacey was therrow and the explanation of her concern and explanation of the procedure and process after was fantastic. All my questions were answered without having to ask any of them Dr Wolf was very helpful and all other staff members were helpful and knowledgeable on here upcoming ACL sergery. Dr Wolf very informative and professional. What I appreciated most is the explanation and process of Lacey ACL sergery buy Dr Wolf he covered all aspects of the process and was extremely professional.
Fantastic experience: The entire staff was very pleasant, attentive and caring. That alone was appreciated. ALL of the staff was lovely and pleasant. Lulu and I appreciate it greatly. Thanks soooo much for a good experience even though our reason for visiting was stressful. What I appreciated most is the empathy and kindness.
Fantastic experience: At a very stressful time the staff at CVETS was kind and compassionate to all who arrived seeking help. Bennie at the front desk did a wonderful job making sure we all felt seen and our issues handled. In short, they were great and we are thankful that they were available.
Negative experience: I brought my 5 month old kitten in to have him put down he was crying in pain. They took their sweet time and then the nurse wanted to put on a gown and then the doctor wanted to talk to me when I have already been waiting for 45 minutes. By that time my vet was getting ready to open so I left them and took him to my vet. The way they treated my little boy I will never forget when the poor baby was crying in pain. I will never go there again.
