Fantastic experience: This facility is amazing. Having a really sick dog is an incredibly scary experience for both the dog and the owner. Every person we interacted with was compassionate, kind, and very helpful in working to get my dog better. Thank you again PET EMERGENCY team!

Fantastic experience: The staff at PET Emergency Treatment are all exceptional people. They are so busy because of all of the emergencies that happen all day and night, but they were very helpful when my dog had pneumonia and was hospitalized. Because of the care and their love for my pet I was relieved of a lot of stress and fear when I had to leave him there. They are worth every penny that I was charged for the care, medicine, technology and knowledge that the Veterinarian and the Veterinarian Techs have earned through schooling and experience. Thank you PET!!

Fantastic experience: As soon as we walked in the front desk was amazing! We had just come from our primary vet in Wasilla and they had scared us told us that we should euthanize our year and half old GSP, when we got in the back and talked with Tonya Cassee she was very nice, calm and sweet she went over what was done at his vet in Wasilla in more lame n terms so we could understand better and then she consulted with their Internal Medicine Specialist and made a plan with us to help our little guy Zeus so he could live his life out with us. Zeus was left their over night to get transfusions and plasmas, they called us the next morning and told us he responded great and we could come get him, and that he will be set up to see the Internal Medicine Specialist. I am super pleased with their staff and doctors would definitely recommend!!

Thank you for sharing Zeus’s story! We’re so glad we could provide clarity, compassion, and a treatment plan that gave him a chance to thrive. It’s wonderful to hear that our front desk, internal medicine specialist, and team were able to support both you and Zeus through such a scary time. We’re thrilled that he responded well to his overnight care and look forward to continuing to support his health. Your trust and recommendation mean the world to us!

Fantastic experience: My dog got into chomping sticks on our walk. (leave it and drop it had exited the room ) He woke me up at 4am vomiting them up. I panicked and called the ER for advice and rushed him in. My biggest fear was there were more sticks that could cause damage to his insides. They gave estimates and answered all my questions. The staff was great to my boy he was so happy when k picked him up. The Vet did get a bit sassy with me when we were going over care “I’m getting there” I understand this was very early so possible it was before their coffee kicked in. We had an overall good experience and hope to never be back for my pup's sake.

PET Emergency Treatment

We know how scary those early-morning emergencies can be, and we’re so glad you trusted us with your boy’s care. Sticks are no fun at 4am! It’s completely understandable to worry about potential internal damage, and we’re happy our team could provide clear estimates, answer your questions, and give you peace of mind. Most importantly, we love hearing that he was happy and feeling better when you picked him up — that’s the best outcome we could hope for. Thank you for sharing your experience and for being such a caring pet parent!

Fantastic experience: This was a positive experience for both myself, my dogs, and the staff. I had an unexpected puppy delivery and hadn't had a litter in like 40 years. The staff took the pups, put them under heat to warm them up, took mom and x-rayed to make sure there wasn't another on the way, and walked all of us through feeding and care.

Thank you for sharing your story! We’re thrilled to hear that your unexpected puppy delivery went smoothly and that our team could support both mom and her pups with attentive, compassionate care. Guiding you through feeding and care while ensuring everyone’s safety is exactly what we aim to do, and we’re so glad it was a positive experience for all of you!

Negative experience: Absolutely no matter of urgency or concern to question what is wrong with your pet from front desk staff, and veterinarian. They tell you there is a long waitlist but don’t give you any other options to care for your pet. Sadly, this is the only Pet ER in town. After reading all the 1-Star reviews, I am actually grateful I was turned away with a very convenient “doctor just left to go to the back for surgery.” Thank you Universe for giving me a sign that this was NOT THE PLACE TO GO. I suggest reading the 1-star reviews before considering taking your dog here for mild cases. If you have a more severe case and in need of emergency, pack a big wallet and pray HEAVY. The things I’ve read were horrible. Prepare yourself.

PET Emergency Treatment
PET Emergency Treatment

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We’re sorry to hear that your experience left you feeling this way. Our goal is always to assess and prioritize patients based on medical urgency while being transparent about current wait times, which can sometimes be longer when our team is caring for critical or surgical cases.

We understand how frustrating it can be when a hospital is busy, especially when you’re worried about your pet. When we are unable to see a patient immediately, our team does our best to provide guidance on next steps or alternative options whenever possible.

Your feedback about how this interaction felt is important to us, and it has been shared with our leadership team so we can continue improving how we communicate with clients during high-volume periods.

Fantastic experience: Everyone was very kind to my dog and myself. It was a 5 hour visit but we had X-rays and waited the extra hour for a radiologist to read them. As always, when I need to take my dog to the ER I bring water and snacks and know I will be there for a few hours minimum and I am just super grateful that my dog gets to come home with me, others are not so fortunate so please keep that in mind when you are grumbling to someone about your wait time.

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding during your visit, especially knowing that emergency care and diagnostics like X-rays can take time to ensure every pet receives thorough attention. Your compassion for both our team and other pet families means a great deal to us. We’re so grateful your dog was able to go home with you, and we hope they’re continuing to do well.

Fantastic experience: I was in Hawaii when my son FaceTimed me showing me how lethargic, dazed, and confused my biggest nine year old dog appeared. My son didn’t feel comfortable going to work I’m so glad he took Lugar to the ER. The technicians and the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. He remained under observation for the night returned home the following morning and after 5 days has returned to full function. He had a fever and received IV fluids but needed no medication. Will follow up with our vet.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We can only imagine how stressful it must have felt being in Hawaii while your son was caring for Lugar, and we’re so glad he trusted his instincts and brought him in. It’s wonderful to hear that Lugar responded well to supportive care and is now back to his full self. Our technicians and team work hard to provide attentive, compassionate care, and your kind words mean a great deal to all of us. We’re grateful we could be there for your family when you needed us and wish Lugar continued good health.

Fantastic experience: A near midnight phone call was immediately answered by clinic. Come right in, there's no one in the waiting room. The care they showed my injured cat was immediate. A plan for amputation as soon as surgeon finished the surgery currently in progress. After consultation giving us all the details, we were encouraged to go home and sleep. I mentioned I'd set an alarm for specific time to come back. The tech called me a few minutes before I left home to return to clinic. She'd noted my comment about seeing alarm and wanted to be sure I knew my cat was ready to be picked up. She gave me the rundown of what was done and then told me she's finish with the after care instructions when I was in clinic. I called in with a question 2 days later about allowing e-collar removal for eating and the tech was encouraging in response that calling in was they were there for. If you ever have an emergency, 1000% call or go straight in. They will treat your pet with the utmost care.

Negative experience: My dog was diagnosed with a very aggresive cancer, I was referred to PET for a consultation for his treatment. I paid a deposit and scheduled out weeks in advance. I have a demanding job but was able to plan some time off to make sure my dog is getting the care he deserves. I arrived on time but wasn't seen until 30 minutes after our scheduled appointment time. I did share my concern for time with staff and they were kind and assured me they will try their best to be timely. When we finally got to go into our appointment it felt very rushed, i was getting a lot thrown at me (that's the point of the appt i get it) but it just felt very inconsiderate considering the circumstance and their tardiness. I don't feel like I got my moneys worth of a consultation when I spent over half the appointment waiting around. They nearly forgot to even pull my dog back to take a closer look at him. While the staff was kind and I understand they were trying their best, I still shared that I was upset with this experience. A service that was supposed to be vital to my dogs care and a service i paid for none the less. I did fill out a feedback form, the response was basically "sorry what are you gonna do" I did receive a call from the the director i believe which i thought was very kind. She did make it seem like we were gonna figure out a solution as they are the only specialty vet in town, i am still needing to work with them (or so i thought) well i received an email with the appt notes that said i am refusing care for my pet. that is not true. So i am even more upset that basically i received bad service, i made a complaint and now they are basically saying they making decisions for me Also very weird note, the specialty vet i met with seemed very positive about treatment helping my dog but the notes basically said no treatment would help. So i spent money for bad service, a waste of precious time with my dog but also false hope. Thanks PET!

Negative experience: Since I received multiple emails and a text message asking for a review… here it goes. First let me say I’m thankful that there is a 24hr clinic for our pets. I’m sure in a lot of cases they are helpful, but that just wasn’t the case for us. We brought our dog in who was extremely sick, they ran bloodwork and did X rays and had them sent out to be diagnosed. Past that, the lack of options provided for my dog was unacceptable. We were told we could pay $3,800 for our dog to stay in clinic waiting around for the specialist to MAYBE see our dog but there were no guarantees and we were given no alternatives. What do you mean?! My dog is wildly sick and the best you can give me is to waste precious time for him to MAYBE been seen?! I wasn’t provided options for the next step. Not even if he saw the specialist. I had no guidance. I can tell you right now had I not left and gone somewhere else my dog would have died. He ended up having emergency surgery to remove either a tumor or a foreign body. Biopsy is still TBD… but whatever it was, it had ruptured.. his life was on a clock and Pet ER had done the absolute bare minimum. I don’t understand how we weren’t given more options to help my dog.. his life was thankfully saved by a different vet who guess what, wasn’t a specialist but STILL saved my dogs life bc they acted and I’m beyond grateful. I don’t want to say negative things bc I have massive respect for those in vet med but I was extremely disappointed. If I didn’t trust my gut to leave, I likely wouldn’t have my dog laying beside me right now. I just wanted more from them I guess… nice people, just fell short during our visit.

Magen James Posted on Google 3 months ago

Negative experience: They don't actually triage cases. My pet had a very specific timeline to get him to throw up before things could become a blockage. They had me wait for 2 hours. They took back other pets that fell into level 3 triage before taking my pet back. It felt like they wanted to wait until the 2 hours was up so they could do more extensive (and expensive) treatment. The receptionist wasn't helpful and seemed put off when I would ask for time updates. When asked at the 2 hour mark what was next she said "honestly throwing up doesn't work for cats anyway." When I said it would've been nice to know that, her response was "well I can't give out medical advice". Wow. Rude, unhelpful and a waste of time.

PET Emergency Treatment
PET Emergency Treatment

Magen,

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re very sorry for the frustration and concern you felt during your visit—especially when timing felt critical. We understand how stressful it is to worry about a possible blockage and to feel uncertain while waiting.

Our team does triage patients based on medical urgency, but we recognize that when communication isn’t clear or feels dismissive, it can understandably create the impression that concerns aren’t being taken seriously. We’re especially sorry that your interactions at the front desk felt unhelpful or discouraging. That’s not the experience we want for our clients.

Your feedback has been shared with our leadership team so we can address both triage communication and client interactions moving forward. If you’re open to it, we’d appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly to better understand your visit and address your concerns. (907-274-5636 x113)

Fantastic experience: I had a slightly mixed experience. Despite telling the initial intake person my cat had exploded with rage, pain or fear and attacked me (out of character and unprovoked), she told me she was describing the reason for my visit as "cat is not himself," which I'm guessing did not communicate any urgency to the medical staff. After waiting almost two hours and watching two other clients move ahead of me, I went back to the front desk and spoke with a different staff person. She understood the situation might be urgent, and had a tech come out to examine my cat to rule out any conditions that might be considered an emergency. After that, we had the most amazing experience: a veterinarian who clearly demonstrated interest, experience and knowledge, and another vet tech who went above and beyond to ensure I knew what was happening, and to make sure my cat's medical needs (and follow-up care) were met. Huge thanks to Chelsea the vet tech, and to the night-shift intake person.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re sorry for the frustration you felt during the initial intake and appreciate you pointing out how important clear communication is in urgent situations.

We’re very glad that once your cat was reassessed, our team was able to step in quickly and provide the care, explanations, and follow-up support you deserved. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to Chelsea, the night-shift intake team member, and the medical team they’ll really appreciate it.

Thank you for trusting us with your cat’s care and for taking the time to help us improve.

Positive experience: Very thankful for the emergency clinic being open on holidays. The vet care I received was very helpful and greatly appreciated. The front desk lady was less than pleasant though. I understand that long wait times are normal, but I spent over 2 hours waiting with no updates or communication. When I went to ask the front desk lady answered with such a sour attitude. I understand that many pets need help, but snide comments are not helpful to pet owners trying to do the best they can for their pet.

Negative experience: The actual appt was better than the overall experience, otherwise there would be one star. Besides the price & a text/email/pay in person request before my dog ever came out, was waiting on my dog for an hour after I had paid. The vet called & said she would be done around 8:30 pm & I arrived at 8:45 pm. I sat for an hour listening to the front desk ladies talk about their high school days. The main issue I had was that my dog Bella has cancer & a referral for a CT scan was sent to PET on 10/10 but the appt was finally made for 11/28, the day after Thanksgiving. It took 7 weeks & nearly a dozen phone calls to even get the CT scan appt. Left a message for the Asst Director to discuss but no response there. So overall a negative experience & unfortunately not the first one I've had.

Thank you for sharing this with us. We’re truly sorry for the frustration, long waits, and communication gaps you experienced—especially given how stressful it is to navigate care when a pet has cancer. That’s not the experience we want for you or Bella.

We’re glad to hear the actual medical care was positive, but we recognize that delays in scheduling, follow-up communication, and discharge timing matter just as much. Your feedback has been shared with our leadership team so we can address these concerns and improve how we support clients through specialty referrals and discharge.

Thank you for taking the time to be candid, and for trusting us with Bella’s care. We sincerely wish you both the very best.

Fantastic experience: The best experience. Princess Nala got the best care good enough even for a queen! She is doing much better with home care and hoping to make year 24. If not, she will be comfortable with private nurse care at home like the diva she is with the support of Dr. Cat and team! Even though we didn't get the best news, we got what we needed to improve Nala's quality of life and hope that we also get a little bit more time! We have been lucky to have her 23 years and she deserves to be comfy and happy! Thanks to all of the staff for their support! Nala is grateful as well!

Fantastic experience: I went in with my girl pup for a non-critical emergency. I've just moved here, we dont have a regular vet. I was very distressed for my girl and also concerned about the finances. Sorry, not cool to have to care about money but still do. Also, please no hate, I took her to the emergency vet place! They treated her and myself with the utmost care and respect. As a non critical emergency we were there a little over 5 hours and the tech tried to apologize for it taking so long. It is a pet emergency room, I said, I could not be more grateful to not be a critical patient and thanked her profusely. They were wonderful people! They were supportive and kind to everyone I saw there. And they came in a little under the estimate they gave me. I highly recommend them. Hope never to have to but 10/10 would go back!

Positive experience: PetER worked on our family dog, Dodger, after a horrific musk ox attack just steps from our backdoor in Nome. He was first stabilized at Nome Animal House before being sent on the only remaining flight of the day to Anchorage. I would strongly suggest arranging someone in Anchorage to pick up your pet upon arrival—otherwise, PetER charges $900 for one of their staff to do so. Heck, maybe even an Uber driver could do it for $40! They also call for an initial $950 deposit to begin care, but you must WAIT for their follow-up call after the assessment before your card can be charged for treatment. I didn’t realize that, so I went to bed relieved that Dodger had made it safely to PetER, only to wake up to a voicemail left at 12:20am. When I called back at 7:30 a.m. and paid, I didn’t hear any updates for another six hours. I was terrified something had gone wrong, but they explained that more critical pets were being treated first. Unfortunately, Dodger wasn’t worked on until about 30 hours after his attack. Once they did begin, they did a fantastic job cleaning his wounds, stitching him up, and giving clear after-care instructions. For that, I’m very grateful—the medical care itself was excellent. However, when we returned three days later to have his drain tube removed, we were told to come “anytime." Initially, staff said two pets were ahead of us, but after 90 minutes they said there were actually ten pets ahead of Dodger. We ended up transferring care to Midnight Sun, who helped Dodger right away. Review your bills carefully—you can decline items (for example, we opted out of Trazodone medication since Dodger is naturally calm and boarding is a wopping $450/day, thankfully we had relatives in Anchorage who took him in). Overall, I’m thankful for the skilled care that saved Dodger’s life, but I’m disappointed in the lack of communication, the confusing billing process, and the long delays. If PetER improved its communication and transparency, this could easily have been a five-star experience.

Fantastic experience: I travelled an hour in from the Mat-Su valley and have found this practice to be very good! His vet is in Anchorage as well, because I've not be satisfied with services in Wasilla or Palmer. Disclaimer: I've not been to all vetinarian clinics in the valley so I realize, there are more than likely outstanding ones. I wanted Pet ER to be better than what my experience has been in the valley which it has been. The vet was knowledgeable, professional, and caring.

Fantastic experience: While we were out of town, our cat developed difficulty breathing. Our pet sitter admitted him to the PET Emergency Treatment center and he was in critical condition. Being out of state made an already stressful situation even more challenging. The staff at PET emergency treatment were incredibly kind and compassionate, clearly taking extra measures to communicate with us and my cat sitter. They were very clear about cost estimates and ended up coming in well below their estimate. We can't thank them enough for their clear communication and excellent care.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Melco and the staff were extremely knowledgeable and thorough in trying to determine the problem(s) with our Bella. Although we had to wait well over a month for the appointment after referral, the internal examination and resultant report gave some direction, to be further determined after all test results are received and reported. Thus, more accurate actions are still to be determined. Bella was treated well, and care was taken to deal with her apprehension and keep her comfortable. We appreciated the call directly from Dr. Melco after the examination was completed, sharing her preliminary thoughts and letting us know Bella was ready for pick-up. This allowed us to ask questions directly of the doctor, instead of dealing with one of the (very capable) assistants. At this point, we are extremely satisfied with the organization, personnel, and services provided.

Fantastic experience: Pet Emergency Treatment is a reliable 24/7 emergency pet hospital. Although, we waited for 4 hours to get my boy get checked, it’s understandable because they are so busy. Front desk, and nurses are friendly and Dr. Taylor who took care of my boy Fluffie is awesome! Thank you to all the hospital staffs who always there in time of emergencies. Hopefully, this hospital get more staff, to lessen the wait of our fur babies.

Negative experience: The Vet staff was very professional and treated my dog in an efficient manner. However the evening front desk staff was very dismissive and unempathetic. I brought my dog in early in the morning, and she was scheduled for emergency surgery that day. I called back approx. 12 hours later and simply asked for an update on her condition, the woman responded "well it looks like your dog is still in surgery and obviously I'm not going to go in there and interrupt." She then proceeded to tell me that they call everyone after the surgery is finished, suggesting I was wasting her time by calling and asking for an update. In summary, vet staff was great. reception not so much.

Negative experience: It saddens me to write this review, but I feel it’s necessary to share the experience that I had at pet emergency on Friday night. Long story short we’ve had a stray Tom cat around our house that we’ve been feeding for a couple of months, he showed up Thursday night with a huge abscess on his face, his eye was swollen shut, and the wound was draining. I reached out to a rescue and got advice about trapping him, and getting him some emergency care. I called pet emergency on Thursday made them aware of my situation, and they were more than willing to help. This cat is very friendly, however, we’ve never touched him, we can get about a foot away from him and if we reach out to touch him, he will lean out of the way, but he doesn’t run away, but we have never handled him, I made this fact clear, so that when he could be seen, they were prepared.. I arrived at about 8 o’clock Friday night and I had him in a metal trap in the backseat of my vehicle, at the beginning he was very calm. I knew there was going to be a wait, I went inside, the place was packed. I signed in, and they were gonna call me and keep me updated as to when I might be able to have this cat seen. At midnight, I went and checked in, they told me I was next however two emergency surgeries had just come in and it would be several more hours, I asked if someone could at least come out and take a look at him and maybe triage him, a tech accompanied me to my vehicle, looked at him and said yes he probably needs to be seen, but that we were good to continue waiting. This really bothered me that she just seemed so blasé about this cat that has now been in a metal trap for over five hours, and starting to get agitated. I understand it’s Friday night and it’s an emergency Clinic. At 1:30 AM they called and me told me , I was still next but two more emergency surgeries had come in and it would be several more hours. We continue to wait, at 4:00 AM. I went back in dayshift had come on, and she assured me that I was still next, but that two more emergency surgeries had come in and it would be several more hours. By this time, I have a very agitated Cat in a metal trap in the backseat of my vehicle that is growling trying to get out of the trap and extremely upset. I didn’t mind waiting, but after eight hours of being told that I was next, and apparently every single person that came in after me had pets that required emergency surgery, I simply could not put this poor cat through any more distress. I am so disappointed that they didn’t take this situation more seriously, and the fact that this poor cat, that doesn’t belong to me, sat in a metal trap for close to 9 1/2 hours,, was completely lost on them. I ended up, leaving without the cat being seen. This is the only pet emergency that’s open 24 hours, and they seemed completely understaffed , underprepared and unorganized. No, this wasn’t a life or death matter, but this was the beginning of the weekend, I had a sick animal that needed to be seen, and we were treated like beggars at their back door, begging for scraps instead of a paying customer with legitimate medical emergency. I can’t tell you how disheartening it is to sit in their parking lot for eight hours watching people walk pets in on leashes, then leaving a couple hours later, but apparently they are too busy to take 30 minutes to look at this poor cat. I am not trained in trapping stray, cats, or handling them or getting care for them. I was counting on the people at pet emergency to try to help me make this experience as easy and unstressful for this cat as possible, and it turned out to be just the opposite. At this point, unless I have an animal in the middle of the night that is in a life or death situation, I don’t think I would go back to pet emergency. Maybe if I had requested them to do “emergency surgery” on him they would’ve seen him. DO BETTER !

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience at this veterinary clinic. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I brought my cat in for a check-up after her spay procedure to monitor her incision. The veterinarian examined her incision and found no issues or concerns. They waived my fee because it was a quick emergency check-up that did not require any extensive examination. I will definitely return for any future emergency veterinary care.

Fantastic experience: PET Emergency Treatment save my 12-year-old dog's life. She was hospitalized for four days - she was very sick. I was updated regularly by the veterinarians, and they took all the time I needed when discussing her status. The Anchorage community is very fortunate to have a 24/7 emergency hospital. Lastly - I've seen others complain about the cost - yes, hospitalization is expensive for humans and pets alike. Fortunately, I had chosen a good pet insurance plan for my dog to help with emergencies such as this.

Fantastic experience: I’m trying to review this amazing hospital on every site of social media I can. My ManeCoon Hermione, came into contact with Scrubbing Bubbles cleaner that was collected by the drain in my shower with some water. Her decline was rapid. We rushed her to Pet Emergency where from the moment we walked in the door, WE were treated! From front desk, triage, to Doctor Tonya’s great care…Hermione was tended too IMMEDIATELY! Because of this amazing hospital, my fur baby is home, recovering beautifully, and back to her feisty self, demanding treats vocally! For a kitty’s health, eating is the most important! To Doctor Tonya, and all of the staff…thank you from the core of my being for saving my precious Hermione. PSA to all fur baby owners…I’m going “green” in my home. Removing anything harmful to pets. Thanks to Animal Poison Control, this experience was horrible, but a learning one which will ensure this never happens again! If you use harsh chemicals and your shower has no door (example a shower curtain as I have) keep bathroom doors closed.

Fantastic experience: This facility is great!! The staff was very friendly, compassionate and sympathetic. We had an emergency with our dog that lead to us having to euthanasia him. It was hard, but they were very supportive. We had him cremated through them and they contacted us to let us know his ashes were ready. When we received them, with his ashes was a clay dish with our dog's paw print molded in it with his name. My heart swelled with joy because I was not expecting such a beautiful gesture!! So thank you all so much for helping us through such a sad and heartbreaking moment. You all are the best!!

Negative experience: It’s hard to even do this but I sat there for 8 hours from 4pm to midnight being told I was next in line for probably 5-6 of those hours and left without getting my dog seen. I am still greatly worried about her but this is the ONLY place open 24 hrs and they only have 1 doctor on staff. the only reason i didn’t give the place a 1 is because of their receptionist and even then I am tempted to because their only response is they have 1 doctor. but a guy who created a scene got to get his dog seen ahead of me but when i complain countless times about being here BASICALLY FOR A FULL SHIFT i’m still not seen. Hire more Vets and communicate better. I only got spoken to unless I asked and again they relayed the same message over and over again.

Positive experience: Everything went well and clinic staff worked with me on pricing and options that better suited my budget. I just didn’t like the long 4 hour wait to be seen. I understand that it’s a walk in ER clinic but it would have been nice if admin staff informed me on how long the wait would have been.

Negative experience: My only actual positive experience with this place was the doctor herself. The front desk ladies were rude. Every time I got moved to another room, the wait time was ridiculous even though I was assured “so-n-so” would be right with me. The follow up directions were unclear. It was a very frustrating experience.

sydney sura Posted on Google 7 months ago

Negative experience: If I could give ZERO stars I would! If you care about your pet AT ALL, you will never ever bring your family to this establishment. Please read: This hospital failed at the most basic level: competence, honesty, and compassion. They caused us enormous stress, wasted precious time, and drained thousands of dollars—all while misdiagnosing and misleading us. This place is an absolute disgrace and scam, I pray no one ever has to deal with what we have gone through. For three days, this clinic held onto our dog, ran up thousands of dollars in charges for ultrasounds that no other veterinarians could even interpret, and kept him under “care” based on a completely wrong diagnosis. They misled us into believing his situation was hopeless and deliberately prolonged their “treatment” in ways that padded the bill. The truth? No surgery was ever performed, no miraculous intervention was needed. We finally took him home actually had to argue with them to even give us our dog back—and he is alive, doing well, and recovering without the dire outcome they insisted was inevitable. If you value your pet’s life and your own peace of mind, do not trust this ER. They are unprofessional, careless, and exploitative.

Negative experience: Arrived around 5:50 pm, my dog had been violently sick throwing up worms since 4am. My husband had called and was told that since she was throwing them up we needed to bring her in sometime the same day, that they could get her in within 10-15 minutes. My dog and I were then placed in the quarantine room for about 3 hours. I then said that we could wait in the car as my phone was dying. During our stay in the quarantine room my dog was consistently throwing up still. At the time we arrived there was only one person ahead of us. I asked a few times when she could be seen as she was obviously not okay, i had to carry her back to the car as she was panting and whining in pain. Waited in the car for another 2 hours. Continued to vomit in the car I walked in upset asking again when she could be seen. Was then told that she was “not a priority”. I was then just handed puppy pads and paper towels. After waiting another hour I left to find another emergency vet as they clearly didn’t care. My dog proceeded to start popping blood shortly after we left. After driving an hour to another place that would actually care for her she was hospitalized from an obstruction from the worms she had been throwing up. Absolutely infuriating. The negligence and just being brushed off like we were nothing was absolutely ridiculous. Do better I could have lost my dog.

Fantastic experience: The staff is very friendly and calm. They got my cat in within an hour an a half. Her issues were not life-threatening, so I thought that was good time to be able to get seen. Fantastic experience: My dog looked like he was dying. He ate something at the side of the road and even though I told him to drop it which he did, some of it was swallowed. A few hours later he was barely able to walk and collapsed after I got him in the car. When I got to Pet Emergency he was seen straight away and it turned out he had THC in his system and possibly other drugs. Pet Emergency took care of my dog quickly, efficiently and with much care. I couldn’t ask for more. It was a frightening experience for me and they showed they cared.

Fantastic experience: I can’t thank the team at Pet Emergency enough for the care they gave to my dog, Lilli. From the first phone call to discharge, they treated both of us with compassion, urgency, and professionalism. Lilli was in critical condition with a foreign body obstruction, and the doctors and staff worked tirelessly through the night to diagnose, operate, and stabilize her. Dr. Malco and Dr. Riddle explained everything clearly and gave me confidence that Lilli was in the best possible hands. The vet techs, especially Amanda and Emerson, were wonderful about keeping me updated, answering my questions, and showing true care for Lilli’s comfort. Thanks to their expertise and dedication, Lilli made a full recovery, something I am incredibly grateful for. This was a stressful and emotional experience, but Pet Emergency gave me peace of mind knowing she was receiving the highest level of care. I highly recommend Pet Emergency to anyone facing a pet crisis. They quite literally saved my dog’s life, and I will always be thankful. —Dan, Palmer AK

Fantastic experience: After being broomed from another pet emergency place in Wasilla, who wouldn’t see us because they close at 10pm and we wouldn’t be there until 10:10pm, we drove to Pet Emergency Treatment to get porcupine quills removed from my dog‘s mouth. They were very responsive and quick to treat my dog. Pet Emergency is easy to work with and they clearly care about your pet. They took my pet right in. I would definitely recommend this animal hospital to anybody that needs it. I came back for a second time in about a week. This time I needed a health certificate for an emergency trip back to the lower 48, they were very busy but Athena helped immensely and we got it done. We tried another 7 day clinic in Anchorage but never got a call to come in. Pet Emergency is my new regular veterinary provider, it’s run like a business, not a hobby. The employees are all super responsive and helpful. The facility is clean and roomy.

Negative experience: We were left in a dirty room. Vet tech came and left a bucket of our dogs stomach contents in our room and did't return for a hour. I ended up having to put the bucket in the hallway because of the smell. We were denied access to our dog multiple times. They stated they were busy and had multiple cases to take care of. That is understandable, but all they did was give medicine to induce vomiting. I request to monitor my dog after the medicine was administered. That would be helping them, and easing the load that they were complaining about as an excuse. They were abrasive with my persistent request for my dog to recover in our room. I understand policies and procedures, but I am paying them, especially upfront. Reasonable request like assuming the responsibilities of my pets medical care should be honored.

Fantastic experience: My cat Mocha was at the clinic 5 days with a stuck hairball & had to have surgery...this is the 2nd surgery she has had to have because she's a "heavy groomer" & can't always pass the hairballs. They took EXCELLENT care of her & kept me updated all through the stay. Love the "onsie" I bought there. It's much better than a CONE to keep her from licking her stomach. No offense but I HOPE she DOESN'T have to come back for this! ;-)

Fantastic experience: Unfortunately, my cat and I just left the ER. I just wanted to write a review to let them know how grateful I am for their service tonight. I know I was scatterbrained, anxious and scared during our visit and they still treated my cat and I with respect and were so caring the entire time. Thank you so much for letting me wait in my car and calling me every time I was needed. Seeing sick animals and crying owners kills me inside, so even though the waiting room is comfy and inviting, I could not keep seeing hurting animals and owners coming in and out of the front doors. Since 7am this morning, my day was a whirlwind of emotions, work, helping my partner pack for a weekend fishing trip and trying to figure out if I was going to leave this ER visit tonight without my 19 year old furry best friend. This was my second time coming to the ER for my pets and this will be the only ER in Alaska I will take my pets to. Thank you all so much, you all truly have the biggest hearts to be able to help anxious, scared and maybe a little neurotic pet parents like me.

Negative experience: I had a bitter experience with this clinic. First we waited 5 hours for the doctor. And this is an emergency clinic, just think about it! It is easier to wait for the second coming of Christ. Then the doctor examined us, said to pay 200 dollars and said that nothing else needs to be done. My father-in-law, I know that my dog needs to be tested, but he, the doctor, decided that it is not necessary? He lives with me, what does he know more than me? I did not come to ask his opinion. I know that my dog is sick and needs tests. In general, I do not advise going here, you will get a lot of problems and a lot of money bills.

Fantastic experience: Oh man, they are amazing. Super friendly and attentive staff, helpful and answered all of my questions. Yes you might have to wait, it’s an emergency room. However, what a great team. From the receptionist at checkin, to the vet and vet tech…..just wow! My little dog Willy is on the mend, they took great care of him! So thankful they were there to help!

Fantastic experience: Thank goodness for the speedy and effective care we received at Pet Emergency…our poor setter had a face and mouth full of porcupine quills that took some time to carefully remove. Happy dog again in no time!

Fantastic experience: My dog had eaten some xylitol and when we arrived the lady who checked us in was very helpful, she tried to save us money by giving us info on how to get a poison control recommendation to see if he needed to be seen by the vet. He ended up needing to be seen and the whole staff was kind and helpful, we were seen quickly and they took great care of my dog. I’m so glad to still have an emergency vet clinic in Anchorage, thank you!

Fantastic experience: Unfortunately I had to come to pet emergency treatment when my cat got her leg broken last night. I was a total wreck. Fortunately, the front desk folks were so amazing and made me feel better about everything. They were able to calm me and Solstice down. The wait to be seen was only about 10 minutes, and within the hour the pain management started for my poor kitty. We got a referral to a local surgeon. Still waiting on this, but in the meantime Solstice is comfortable. Thank you wonderful team at PET Emergency Treatment!

Positive experience: This is the state’s only 24/7 emergency pet care. The facility is amazing and serves a highly needed specialty area. The staff were knowledgeable and seemed to be up to date on current practices. However, as it being the only facility of its kind, the wait times are extremely long (plan on 3-6 hours wait). It became increasingly frustrating when my pet became an inpatient at the facility. I was 3 hours away, and when I tried to call for an update, I never received a call back so I had to drive to Anchorage to personally check on my dog. Additionally, their phone number rings busy a lot, so you have to just keep redialing. While I understand that my dog was in stable condition and new pets would come in with serious conditions that also need to be seen, my dog needed to have a procedure which continued to be pushed back due to high volume of outpatients. This procedure becomes less successful the longer you wait, so it was irritating trying to understand their workflow and when was it going to be my pet’s turn after 12 hours of being pushed back. The thing I loved most about this facility, however, were the staff members. They treat the pets as their own (even mine, who is probably the witchiest to any and all new people, especially when she doesn’t feel well), and I am impressed with how they work their inpatient area with specifically dedicated staff back there (one person specific for feeding, one specific to pottying, one specific to treatments, etc.). Again, I wish response time was better as I would ask for an update (in-person) and it would take a significant amount of time (30 min-1 hour) for anyone to come talk to me. This was an extremely stressful situation for myself and my family, so I know we were not the most patient and at times not the kindest (this is my baby!). However, once a staff member was able to come talk to me, they always took extra time to console an inconsolable me and ensure I got to visit with my baby. Overall, good experience and I would trust these professionals to take care of my loved furry family members any time. Thank you for all you do.

Negative experience: I called and asked if it was necessary to come in because my dog had swallowed a foxtail or could it wait until morning? They said come in. I drove 1 hour from Wasilla and then ended up waiting over an hour to see the doctor just for her to tell me that their scope was broke and they couldn’t help me. When I asked why she had me drive the hour to be seen, she just kept telling me that they couldn’t triage over the phone. It was a huge waste of time and the doctor was very unapologetic about not being able to help me. Then I got a $170 bill for seeing the doctor for 2 minutes while she told me there’s nothing she can do for me.

Fantastic experience: The Pet ER Treatment staff took great care of my kitty from start to finish. He is an older male cat who was having trouble urinating. When I went in, they took him back for immediate treatment. The tech kept us informed of what was going on while the doctor was busy bouncing between urgent case to urgent case. When we were given an estimate, it was clear and thorough. The next day, when our pet had to have a further procedure, again, the staff were all competent, caring, and compassionate to my cat. I never had to worry if he was getting the right care or good care. This is the 3rd cat I've taken to the Pet ER Treatment staff and I'll always go there first when my pet has an emergency. Dr. Lavery, Dr. Riddle, Simon, Cindy, Aspen, Emerson, and numerous other staff gave my kitty such great care!

Fantastic experience: We took our dog Lurch in because he lost feelings in his legs around 3am. We called to let them know and when we showed up they had a bed ready for him. He was there for for 16 hours before we had to make the decision to put him down. They fought hard to give him any way of survival but it just never worked out. They kept him on IVs for hours and got him blood work and tests and found out his kidneys were failing. For him only being a year old his kidneys were so bad there was no way to help him get better. They gave us the option of surgery but by how bad his kidneys were surgery wouldn't have helped. They were helpful and kind and guided us the best they knew how to. They gave Lurch a comfortable last hours of his life and they made us feel like he was not in pain and was taken care of. All the nurses and workers gave him lots of love before his time came. They let us have a private moment to say our goodbyes and then sat with us and apologized to us and told us it wasn't fair and tried to make us feel better which made us saying goodbye a bit easier. I would recommend this place because I do truly think they cared and took care of Lurch in his last moments when we couldn't be by his side. And they took good care of us and helped us through every moment. Even though the visit didn't even the way I wanted it to. I'm glad we took him here and I would recommend this place to anyone.

Your kind words about our staff's efforts and empathy mean a great deal to us.

Fantastic experience: I am traveling from the lower 48 and my dog developed an ear infection. Because we don’t have a vet in Alaska I figured I would try and see if they would squeeze my dog in. We weren’t considered an emergency, but they still allowed us to wait and were actually able to get her in - I was pretty shocked due to how busy they were. They treated my dog in just a few hours (remember we were not an emergency so our wait was longer which is fair) and had her meds available that night. Thank you all for helping my old lady. They are a very busy facility, but they all seem to work together and get these animals help!

Fantastic experience: Came in for my cats eye the evening before the 4th of July. It was busy but we got in, spoken with and medicated for under $300. I was expecting at least double that! I am extremely grateful for the low level of emergency, their kind staff and their quick and affordable services. Thank you Pet ER, I hope we don't see you soon, but I'm glad we met!

Fantastic experience: The care here was great. The vet followed up with us later and explained all the results when they were available. Everybody was very kind, polite, and professional. We had a long wait as several very critical emergencies came in after us, but they did manage my dogs pain until she was able to be seen, which was very appreciated.

Positive experience: Took my cat in because he had a paw injury. The wait was about an hour and a half , but they were short staffed and it wasn’t an emergency. I was there for about two and a half hours, mostly waiting, but the staff was very nice and gentle with my cat. He is doing a lot better now

Fantastic experience: I had to take my senior dog to the PetER after we had someone step out into traffic in front of our truck. When we slammed on the brakes, she was thrown into the back of the seat and then in the floor. She didn’t seem injured but then was having problems with a back leg that looked pretty bad. Her regular vet was unable to squeeze us in, so off we went. Everyone was friendly and helpful. They x-rayed her leg (not broken) and made her comfortable. It was overall a good experience during a stressful time. If I needed to have emergency pet care again, I would definitely go there again.

Fantastic experience: Our dog, Rosie was choking on a piece of dog biscuit. When we realized we could not dislodge it we rushed her to PET Emergency Treatment. Fantastic experience: This clinic saved my dog’s life. Ollie was diagnosed with stomach flip. On the way to the clinic my Ollie was throwing up foam and crying in agony in the backseat. It was heartbreaking. Once there, they took him right away and gave him life saving emergency surgery. Thankful for this clinic and the surgical procedure went well.

Fantastic experience: Called ahead because we were coming in with 3 dogs who had tangled with a porcupine. They were ready for us and took them right in and got started. They had originally estimated 2-3 hours, but it was about 1 hour. All 3 dogs recovered nicely. Very grateful for Pet Emergency!

Negative experience: Beware of this scam Vet office. They employ extreme bait and switch tactics that I believe are illegal. We called and got an estimate for our pup to have a hernia surgery and their price was substantially higher than another Vet here in Alaska but their availability was sooner which we decided was just borderline worth the high mark up in cost. While scheduling the surgery we were told we’d need an additional consultation for $135 dollars the same day before the surgery. Once we arrived they wanted to “re-diagnose” the giant visible hernia for an additional $1,300 dollars BEFORE they would preform any surgery. Mind you our primary Vet already fully diagnosed the problem. We immediately accepted the giant red flags that this office nickel and dimes their patients a $1,000 dollars at a time and knew doing any procedure with them would be a big mistake. And now reading their other reviews we see we made the right choice. Our dog never received a full check up from PET Emergency Services the one and only time they touched him was a quick heart stethoscope check, no temperature, oral or general exam. After telling them their pricing was predatory and insane we went to the office and were told by Jen that the consultation price we were giving two days before was a lie and it was now $163 farther re-enforcing that we dodged a huge bullet. I don’t know about the quality of the animal healthcare they provide but if it’s anything like their constant price changes and un-thorough general exams your pet deserves better. Steer clear of this poor excuse of an animal ER. There are far better and honest options in the Valley for compassionate and appropriately priced animal care options.

Positive experience: For one I’m thankful they took care of my dog. All was well until they presented me with the bill. No surgery but 24 hour hospital day cost me $4500. It took 2 days to get CT scans when they said it would be 24 hours. All and all not terrible but my goodness how can vets be this expensive??!
