Fantastic experience: Dixie Animal Hospital is the best!! They have always taken excellent care of my fur babies. The one I have now is a Belgian Malinois. So many people are afraid of the breed. I have handicap issues. Someone came right to my car to help her in. My dog took right to the young man and went in with him without any problems. They took care of her in a timely manner and help me get her back in the car with ease. My baby is my guardian and my companion. She is so sweet, and they were so good to her.

Fantastic experience: My cat Crystal goes here and they seem to love her here :) Crystal is never scared to go to the vet and it’s always a great time over at Dixie animal. The staff is nice and understanding, and the office is always clean. They are always willing to help with any questions as well.

Fantastic experience: The only reason I give a 5 is because my Buster likesDr Reynolds. I do think they need to do something about their prices. In to weeks I've spent almost $400. On meds $175+ for antibiotics $40 Office calls $79 heartworm. I understand making a living, but us elderly live on low fixed income income. So, now it's his meds and mine will wait. 65 and older should get a 30% to 40% discount. IT could be counted as a charitable contribution or a tax ride off. That's just my thought.. what do you think?

Fantastic experience: Workers listened very carefully to our concerns and informed Dr. The Dr. was wonderful with Junebug (our 7 yr old cat) and answered all of our questions. Prices were very reasonable and no unnecessary tests or procedures were pushed. Junebug is kinda shy of Drs, and she took to all the staff wonderfully. I highly recommend this facility!

Negative experience: Never took our Maltese for healthcare anywhere but Dixie Animal Hospital, from day 1, and for the next 12 years of his life. Early on, we were getting his grooming done there onsite as well. They went through a few groomers, and after the next two appointments my dog came home limping. I went back in and demanded a doctor look at him, which they did. But nothing was ever done about it, so I switched to Feeder’s Supply in Valley Station where I could watch the entire process through a window and, most importantly, he could see me and stayed calm. As he aged. The vets at Dixie Animal diagnosed him with Cushing Syndrome, and he would be on several medications for life. We found a local pharmacy who would fill the monthly medications, but I about lost my mind when I saw a vet charge for actually “writing” each Rx, each month. The last time I took him there for his 6 month Cushing Syndrome checkup and lab work testing, he left the house with my mom’s husband a happy and bouncing little fella. About 1.5 hrs later, he returned home lethargic and could barely stand to walk. He couldn’t keep water down and wanted no part of his food or favorite treats (which he always flips over). I called the next morning as they opened and said I was bringing him in because of these symptoms that came about while in THEIR care. I couldn’t sleep and watched him all night long, then took him in at 8:30am. He was getting to be “critical” by this point, yet they STILL made me wait for over an hour… until I started walking the back halls asking for help. Long story short, SOMEBODY made a huge mistake that cost my baby his life! 3 days later after a stay a Jefferson Trauma Hospital, then to Metro Surgical Specialists, not to mention many thousands of dollars later, he passed away. It was well before his time. And the folks at Dixie Animal Hospital dropped the ball on this one…. Partially out of “greed” and partially from someone’s incompetence. Our lives here at home have lost all quality of happiness and continue to be full of constant grief. SHAME ON DIXIE ANIMAL HOSPITAL *I would advise doing some research, especially smaller veterinary clinics where care is more personal and skill is abundant.

I believe my new puppy is in good hands and with myself and Dixie staff in place is well on his path for success, great health, delicious food, mountains of treats, abundance of love, belly rubs, kisses and licks and so much more to come…4 paws down ❤️❤️ Dr Bachman is amazing!!! She super loves Mr Dominoe amongst the entire staff and treats me with such kindness and warmth. The pricing which caught me by surprise was overwhelmingly affordable. Cowabunga!!! Fantastic experience: They got me in the morning after I called and successfully performed surgery on my cat within a few hours of bringing her in for a consultation. I'd recommend calling if you're in a similar situation, so they know you need a surgery consult and not just a standard sick pet appointment. I could tell the people working there cared about her and they gave her lots of love and cuddles in my absence. The procedure was in line with the cheaper end of estimates I saw on the internet, they gave me clear post-surgery instructions and made everything as easy as possible for me. The medications were also on the cheaper end.

Negative experience: I have been going to Dixie Animal hospital for probably 40+ years, I called on Friday 10/10/25 asking if I could get one of my 4 dogs in to be seen. This dog is 14 years old with several health issues, I explained that she is stumbling when she is walking and she is breathing strangely and I was told I needed to go see an emergency vet, I said I would really like to come to my vet because I feel like it could just be her time, again I was told to go see an emergency vet. I was not taking her to an emergency vet when she could not even get up and walk. My husband went to Dixie Saturday morning and explained the situation again and they said we could come in after lunch. We did get her in the office and we had her put down. We took her body with us, when we got home we went to get the box out of the car picked it up, the box collapsed and she fell out of the box onto the floor, she was not in a bio bag or nothing she was just laying in the box. I feel like that was horrible she did not deserve that. This entire situation was not handled right. The doctor that put her down had been at Dixie for over two years and I have never seen him. Why do the owners not see the vet's anymore, or go into a room with their pet? I feel like that is part of the problem with them not wanting to see her on Friday. Don't know if all the vets are like this or not but I was so disappointed in Dixie Animal Hospital over this past weekend. We never had an issue like this when Dr. Bobb was there. He knew us and treated us and all our animals with respect and he Cared about us as people and out pets. I don't get that today.

Negative experience: My dog has been going there over 6years. I had a medical emergency,she had been sick several days .They told me they were booked and go somewhere else. They gave me an appointment for 3 days later.She died a few hours after I called them.I’ve never been turned down by any other vet during an emergency. I can’t express my hatred I feel towards this establishment.You get charged giant fees when switching vets for one thing ,and the lack of care and compassion is devastating.

Positive experience: Dixie animal hospital does a really good job in taking care of my dog Parsley during his boarding! They also keep you informed on vaccinations, overall health, etc! Now, they can do a better job on not leaving callers on hold for a lengthy amount of time when calling regarding pet issue. But overall, it's a really good hospital!

Positive experience: Clean, friendly, and very welcoming! But sometimes you get vet tech instead of the Dr themselves.... But great place to take your pet with a relatively short wait time!

Negative experience: I came in 20 min before close on a Tuesday. My dog had just passed about 4oz of blood. I came in and said my dog just had a bloody stool and no one even batted an eye. No one was waiting. They just wanted to go home. After a few seconds of SILENCE, someone said they would ask the doc if they WANTED to take a look. THEY THEN TURNED ME AWAY. WITH A DOG ACTIVLEY BLEEDING. Shame on you, if you don't care, don't work for a place that offers care.

Fantastic experience: Our dog is not easy to groom. We were having a hard time finding a groomer that could handle him. Dixie Animal Hospital did an excellent job in cutting his hair. We will continue to use them for all his medical care and grooming. Here are his before and after pictures. He feels much cooler in the house now.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service. My dog broke her ACL and found out that Dr. Gailor works in conjunction with other agencies to give discounted rates. Also took my dog in that had gotten suddenly sick. Their staff is so compassionate, they treated her as one of their own and when she passed, they was crying harder than me.

The vet sold me medicine 3 months ago but when I went to renew with chewy.com now they want to see the dogs for a additional fee amazing what a scam. Becareful here always fishing for extra charges and fees

Negative experience: After yesterday, I'll never be back. 1. Took her for free new patient visit. Agreed to $70 for flu & lepto shots. I'm paying at the desk when they break the news that I have to bring her back in 3 weeks (at another $70 plus a $45 visit fee) for the 'boosters' or else the shots don't work. That's not the way you do business. 2. Got home and realized they hadn't bothered to give me the paper prescription, which was the only reason we'd gone in the first place. It is against their policy, in this the 21st century, to 'do' prescriptions by email, fax, phone, scan, text, or smoke signal, so they want me to get back in the car and drive all the way back, oh, and it'll be a $10 fee for them to get one of their doctors to waste his valuable time scribbling a paper prescription. I think not. Luckily, a friend showed me a site where I can get the meds mailed to me at excellent prices without these idiots signing off. Godsend! Meds on their way already. NOT going back. Fine doctors, but asinine policies, and the staff will bend over backwards to pile on the charges. And ... they do NOT like to be challenged. Don't fight with them, just report them to a federal agency and leave reviews to warn others. I'll share this review every place I can think of.

Negative experience: I should have just gone back to Metropolitan instead of wasting nearly $2000 and my dog being way worse off now then prior to a surgery that didn't even help him and then weren't told important details on how to care for him. Waited 2 weeks while he suffered for a biopsy to come back that they didn't even understand just to send us there anyways. I'll never bring a pet here again at any cost. Update: they couldn't even send over needed documents to the specialist to recieve the help they couldn't provide what a joke of a hospital.

Fantastic experience: The staff is great, we have brought 3 of our dogs here for multiple reasons. One for parvo, one for end of life care and decisions , and now our new pups general health care. When I lost my dog in December the staff got me in immediately no appt needed to see a vet to help us rule out our choices. They were not pushy and gave me every possible option and piece of mind in helping make the overall best choice for Tripp. They sent our family a very sweet card after loosing him. Now that I have another puppy I decided to continue using Dixie for her care. Let me just say they LOVE my Ellie girl. They literally get in her crate when she is boarded and lay with her and give her love. Pricing is fair but quality of care of top dollar. I make the drive from hillview to just keep her with such a great team.

Fantastic experience: I was here 3/28/25 for a appointment with my dog to get him some more medication this was our first appointment at this facility and unfortunately my dog passed on the way there, the team here was amazing from the moment I walked in with quick reactions and genuine sympathy. Positive experience: The care that my many animals have received at Dixie Animal Hospital has been patient and caring. All the staff have always been supportive.

Fantastic experience: First time we went there, our little boy had caught his tummy on a nail and caused a gash. Everyone was very nice. They got him right in and took great care of him. We got to take him home same day, and they charged us about half what we had expected walking in the door. We've started taking our other dogs there for regular vaccinations and such. They are always super kind and accommodating, giving affordable suggestions for follow up care.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this place! They are very attentive to your dog's needs. I have not had a single bad experience here. The groomers are great and take time to meet your dog's needs (even if he's a tad stubborn or cranky). I had my first very experience and the vet was friendly and explained the issues without all the medical terminology. I recommend Dixie Animal hospital for all your pet needs.

Fantastic experience: This has been my vet for my babies since 2006, when I moved to the area. The doctors and the staff are so caring. You can definitely tell they love animals and love their jobs. They even did a payment plan when I had an unusually high bill because of a scary but treatable illness my fur baby had. I do not mind paying a little more than other vets for the care and compassion my babies get at Dixie Animal Hospital.

Positive experience: I love the staff but would still like to go back to just coming in and sitting down. I don’t like the appointments.

Negative experience: I’ve been coming to this veterinarian for over 20 years. This is the last time !!! they are the most expensive on Dixie Highway. And because I was late for an appointment chasing a kitten that I took in from the streets, whom’s brother was killed because it was ran over. I took this one in so it would not suffer the same fate or the cruel Kentucky winter. Trying to be a good human I was coming up here for a first kitten visit and to see about getting her fixed. This kitten that had never been in a carrier Was not going into a carrier I spent 30 minutes tapping and traumatizing her. I was 30 minutes late to my appointment standing there bleeding with hair all over me and sweating in 30 degree weather. They said they would be happy to see me late but they were wanted to charge me an extra $35?? They had no compassion or understanding that this was my only day off work and the only time that I could get her, here., there was no one there in the office. you are already the most expensive on Dixie I have brought my animals here for a long time, but I will never never again. I told them I took her off the street that I could not afford the care as it is for and her…. but you seen an opportunity not to help but to charge me additional money!!! I am furious. I will never be back again!!’ **** This place is comical after I fired them. They sent me a letter saying they’re firing me as a patient!!! WOW!! Because I wouldn’t let you charge me 40 extra dollars and decided to walk out you all don’t reach out as a 25 year patient of your vets office and you fire me you guys are funny!! Never again take them to Shively they are half the price!!

Fantastic experience: There aren't a lot of places that will still declaw a cat. This facility still does and they don't behave judgementally about the fact you are getting your cat declawed. Additionally, of the places that still declaw, this was the cheapest priced I could find between Louisville and Elizabethtown.

Positive experience: Staff was friendly with the exception of one dark haired receptionist wearing a bandana, she was quite rude. Other than her I felt welcomed as well as comfortable while we waited.

Positive experience: Friendly staff, the vets take the time to explain issue's in a way that is useful to someone who doesn't know meaning of medical lingo. Price is a little high (only reason it's not a 5 star)

Negative experience: I will not be taking my dog back there. I’ve had no problems other times and then recently I take her for her shots and I also want to get her nails trimmed. The technician brings her back and says she needs medicine to be calmed down for her nail trims that they had to put a muzzle note my dog is a very loving always wanting to be on you dog something had to be done my poor baby to have a muzzle on her because she came back very scared on top of that I never get paid for a “discounted doctor/tech fee” past receipts I never got charged for that and was told because the technician did two things well I’ve had 3/4 things done in the past and never got charged that fee. The prices are outrageous there as well.

Fantastic experience: We recently took our Doberman to Dixie Animal Hospital and I couldn't be more impressed! The staff is absolutely amazing and everyone was so friendly. Our doberman is on leash reactive so one of the staff members came outside to walk him in so he wouldn't get stressed. I greatly appreciated that. I was able to get a prompt appointment, which I really appreciated since my dog needed immediate attention/xrays. Dr. Reynolds provided great care, taking the time to explain everything and answer all my questions. I felt confident with his plan of action. He made sure to follow up immediately after results came in. I highly recommend Dixie Animal Hospital to anyone looking for quality vet care!

Fantastic experience: We take our long-haired car here to get shaved. Dixie is one of the only clinics we have found in the area that can shave our big boy without putting him under anesthesia. It worried us having to have him knocked out twice a year as we understand it's not good for them. So when we found out Dixie Animal could do it without putting him under, we started going there. They are very professional, very nice, and our baby always comes back to us looking great. If you have a cat that needs grooming, I highly recommend coming here.

Negative experience: I strongly suggest you look elsewhere if you’re not wanting to get charged for ridiculous things. I called a week ago before setting up the appointment because I like to budget for these things. My pup needed to get yearly shots and I was quoted $120 over the phone which I was ok with. When I went to pay they charged me over $150. I was shocked and didn’t say anything to them about it until I got home and looked over the receipt… turns out they charged me $24.25 on top of the vaccines. I called them to see what it was for and they informed me that if you take your pet and do more than one thing (in my case my dog got 4 shots) they charge a “vet tech fee”. The entire appointment took less than 15 mins from the moment we checked in to when we paid. The staff is also not friendly, over the phone they tried to guilt trip me about not adding a fecal test to the list of things I wanted to do, which is absolutely ridiculous considering the fact that they’re already pretty pricey. Absolutely ridiculous, needless to say I will not be back.
