Fantastic experience: I couldn’t be more impressed with the care my dog received at this veterinary clinic. From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming, quick to assist, and clearly very organized. We barely waited before being brought back, which made the whole visit smooth and stress free. The team was incredibly professional and handled my dog with genuine care and patience. They explained everything clearly, answered all my questions, and made sure I felt comfortable with the treatment plan. It’s obvious they truly care about the animals they see. If you’re looking for a veterinary clinic with a quick, efficient, and professional staff that still takes the time to provide excellent care, this is definitely the place to go. I highly recommend them to any pet owner.

Fantastic experience: Walk in. Clean , comfortable , friendly , excellent service and doctor steele was wonderful with my cat beatrix. And they're close by which is great.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Steele. She was kind, gentle, and thorough. I did not feel rushed and she answered all of my questions. My elderly dog was in heart failure and with Dr.Steele's care she made a complete and quick recovery.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Newby was phenomenal. My dog is very anxious with the vet and she loved her. She was patient and kind, I believe she’s new so please book with her. She even went as far to reach out to me after the appt with a recommendation for a vet when I move. Really the sweetest!

Negative experience: I took in three community cats to receive rabies shots, distemper shots, and a basic health check. Legally, feeding community cats requires ensuring they are vaccinated against rabies and are in good health. The rabies certificates were incomplete, lacking information such as the cats' estimated age, correct fur colors, and weight. Multiple attempts were required to ensure the certificates were filled out properly. The first few attempts, I was told that they didn't think the software they had for filling out the certificates would allow them to input all the details for all the fields in the certificates, even though legally all those details are to be filled out! One receptionist told me they didn't think there was a way to correct the rabies certificates, but they "would look into it." The vaccination records were incorrect, too. They had one of the cats listed as having a vaccine it never had and due for a vaccine it was not due for. Once all that was sorted out, I found out they had an extra unnamed male kitten associated with my account - extra as in no one seems to know how it was added to my account. In addition to that, one of the community cats I had taken in was incorrectly sexed. We thought it was a female, but it actually was a male. Maybe someone noticed that the "female" was actually a male, but instead of notifying me, just added a male kitten to my account? Perhaps that is how a mystery male kitten was added? But if that were the case, why didn't they just update the sex for the incorrectly sexed kitten instead of adding an additional unnamed male kitten to my account? The lack of attention to detail is worrisome. The poor record-keeping and the hassle I had to go through to get the records corrected has me uncomfortable ever using them. I don't recommend them.

Fantastic experience: One of our dogs needed urgent care and even with a full work load for the day, NFAH fit us in for a checkup! We love our vet!

Negative experience: $668 for bloodwork and a poop sample and diarrhea pills. Do yourself a favor go somewhere else, pricing is legal extortion I don’t even know how it’s possible for such simple basic tests. This vet is INSANE for the costs. Not to mention almost an hour for the bloodwork to come back. Place is a joke

Fantastic experience: Brought my cat Bear in with concerns of a urinary blockage. The team loved my cat and took great care of him and got him in in a timely manner. I've always had a good experience with everyone I've worked with here, and Bear loved them too.

Fantastic experience: I had the absolute BEST experience bringing my puppy here. The doctor and vet tech were extremely nice, professional and were able to answer any questions I had.

Fantastic experience: I have been a client at North Florida for over 10 yrs now with several of my fur babies over the years. I've heard so many ppl say North Florida is the most expensive clinic in town and if they go once they never go back. I find the opposite to be closer to the truth. I have always went to North Florida when I couldn't afford regular vet care or the expensive guys. Specifically Dr Lynn Haygood has been amazing to me my family and my pets he's never turned us away when I didn't have enough money he's always figured out how to make things cheaper and help in whatever way so that my pet could be seen and be treated with the best care. I have been to other vets over the years that offered like low cost vaccinations or services. But I always find myself going back to North Florida I'm comfortable with Dr Haygood I've never felt judged by him and honestly he makes me feel 10 times more comfortable than the low cost places. He's even helped me when I became homeless and decided to surrender my dogs so they didn't suffer. I cried over and hour that day I signed the surrender forms in in one of the little exam rooms at North Florida with Dr Haywood standing right beside me and praying as I made them the best decision for my pets. He went out of the room and he came back with a box of Kleenex and he told me I could stay in there as long as I needed to and I did I stayed in there and I cried and I cried and I cried and I cried because I knew somebody was going to give him what I couldn't and it was because Dr Hagood had made that happen. People that say they they wouldn't go again they need to go have have an exam done cuz North Florida is definitely the best especially Dr Lynn a good I don't ever want to go anywhere else and you won't either.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at this veterinary clinic with my cat Yuna. The staff was very kind, professional, and welcoming from the moment we arrived. They treated my cat with care and patience and explained everything clearly, including the vaccines and next steps. Dr. Burkhead was excellent — very gentle, and took the time to answer my questions without rushing. I really felt that my pet was in good hands. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a trustworthy and caring vet!

Fantastic experience: My pet needed to be seen by a specialist but unfortunately the specialist was booked out weeks. NFAH was able to get us in the very next day and did all the same test/exams needed to diagnose and provided antibiotics. They werent busy and we were seen on time. They took their time and were friendly. I would definitely bring my dog back!!

Fantastic experience: I have been here twice for semi emergent cat care. Both times I walked in, was seen quickly, and cared to greatly. The most recent time I saw Dr. Todd and she was so attentive to my cat and answered all of my questions and concerns. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Fantastic experience: Cayla (the vet tech) was very lovely & super friendly. I always know my dogs are in the absolute best care whenever I take them. Doctor Burkhead is my usual go-to and he's really good at his job; my dogs love him. 10/10 my favorite vet office.

Fantastic experience: I had an emergency with my rabbit and her own vet could not work her in. You guys had us come right in, only a small wait time and we were seen. Dr Todd was awesome and they are there for backup if needed.

Can't say enough good things about all the vets there, and the staff. Grateful to have this wonderful vet clinic in Tallahassee. If they took humans, I'd be going there myself!

Fantastic experience: I trust the Dr and techs with my dog, Jack. They have always taken wonderful care of him.

Negative experience: We had taken our cat here since we adopted her and loved it until recently. She unfortunately had an accident a few months ago, which showed us what this office is really like. The communication is lacking. We struggled to get ahold of anyone and often would have to wait hours or a day to hear back from them about necessary medical questions/information about my cat. We were told we had to wait multiple days to bring our cat in for a UTI test, because only her vet could conduct it for some reason. It is very upsetting to be told to wait extra days and having your pet suffer longer, because they can’t schedule your pet to see another vet in circumstances like this. When my cat started Prozac, we were told by her doctor that we didn’t need to change ears and that we shouldn’t clean them either. That is contrary to what every other vet and animal pharmacist we have spoken to since has said. The doctor also prescribed a transdermal Gabapentin in a dose (50mg/0.1ml) that only their pharmacy can fill. Every pharmacy we have spoken to since says it is not possible to prescribe a dose that high and that they don’t know how North Florida Animal Hospital’s pharmacy can do that. Now that we have switched vet offices, our cat is going to run out of her Gabapentin because this office will no longer fill it once the original prescription runs out, even though they are the only ones capable of doing so. Do not bring your pets here if they need medication, as you will be stuck with them until the treatment ends.

Fantastic experience: Went in to see Dr Fullerton due to my dachshunds having upper neck issues. Dr Fullerton and his tech Maya were helpful and informative in helping us understand and treat her issue. Would recommend them to anyone needing help

Negative experience: I brought my 12½-year-old dog, Ollie, to North Florida Animal Hospital on November 12, 2025 for an urgent visit after he became very sick in a short period of time. He was seen by Dr. Steele. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing. Dr. Steele did not come across as sympathetic during an extremely stressful and emotional visit. After asking some questions, she recommended blood work and imaging and provided a quote that I accepted. The total estimate for labs and imaging was nearly $750. I ultimately chose to proceed with only the blood work, as the imaging was primarily to check for foreign body ingestion, which I knew was extremely unlikely given Ollie’s age and behavior. During the blood draw, the technicians attempted to draw blood from his neck, which was upsetting to witness. Ollie had his blood drawn many times before, but never in that way. The blood work came back essentially normal. Dr. Steele then offered to keep him overnight for fluids and observation. Given the already high cost of the visit, I chose to take him home. He was given a nausea injection, and medication for diarrhea was suggested, though I declined it since he had only experienced one episode. My total for the visit was $525. Two days later, on November 14, I made the heartbreaking decision to have my sweet boy euthanized, as he was clearly miserable and not showing any signs of improvement. Since I was new to the area, I elected to return to the same veterinary clinic for this procedure. We were immediately placed in a room away from the other exam rooms. The room was cold, with a tile floor and only one raised bed available for Ollie to lie on. He chose instead to lie on the cold floor. We waited there for over two hours, with no one checking on us. The only time staff acknowledged us was after my daughter went out to ask when we would be seen. When Dr. Steele finally came in, the exam was extremely brief. I was seeking reassurance and peace of mind that I was making the right decision. Dr. Steele did not touch Ollie at all and simply stated that since he was not eating and barely drinking, this was probably the best option. Having to say goodbye to my best friend in the world was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. While I understand that veterinary medicine cannot always change outcomes, compassion and empathy matter deeply in moments like these. I would absolutely recommend that if you are a pet owner looking for a veterinarian, do not take your animals to this clinic. Some of the staff may have your pet’s best interests at heart, but Dr. Steele clearly did not, and I will never forget how painful this experience was.

Fantastic experience: Front office staff was very welcoming. Especially so early in the morning taking Soki in for her spay. Pre-op with Haley went well and she was very informative. She focused on Soki and her comfort level. After Soki was post op, Haley handed her off nicely and Soki was calm and ready to go home. Soki showing her boo boo area. Nicely healing 48 hours in too.

Fantastic experience: Exporting a pet to Australia is a daunting process, and as a practicing veterinarian, I needed a team I could rely on to handle the paperwork I couldn't do myself. North Florida Animal Hospital exceeded every expectation. Christine, the office manager, was incredibly professional and stayed on top of every detail. It is rare to find a team this dedicated—they have earned my full trust and professional recommendation.

Negative experience: I have been with this clinic since 2020,in this time I have watched the quality and quantity go way down? I'm not alone in this! I recently had a situation where my puppy died ,while on a monthly wellness plan.called Christine to let her know and to say I would be in to cancel plan,she looked me in my eyes and said" that she would not cancel plan unless I pay for previous treatment " this was very unprofessional!! This is straw that broke camels back,usually don't complain,but it continues to get worse.perhaps this isn't the face you want your customers to encounter? Love my dr. Don't want to leave,but if this continues? I will. It was made crystal clear that money is priority not animal or family. Very dissatisfied with how things are now? Did you hire a management company? Things have gotten bad.things have gotten much worse,not just me,everytime I go there and talk they're very dissatisfied also?owner said they would reach out? This was 2 months ago,no call or text?

Fantastic experience: They always take excellent care of my two senior cats.

Positive experience: I like North Florida because it’s near the Mid Town area where I live and I can easily make appointments online. The employees there are very friendly and treat my cat well. I just got my cat’s claws clipped there for $25. It would cost less to have it done by a pet groomer at one of the chain pet supply stores, but I can’t make an appointment online and have to call in advance to verify they have someone there who can clip cat claws the day I plan to bring my cat in. Since my cat is reluctant for me to pick her up, I might not be able to get her in the carrier on time.

Negative experience: I was swindled into getting more x-rays for my dog when I literally just had x-rays taken at my vets office and had them sent over to them. Then after I explained the situation to them and that I already was quoted a cheaper price at another clinic, they still came at me with a $2,000 estimate to remove a treat from my dogs throat. Now, I may have to put her down...

Fantastic experience: I cannot speak highly enough of this vet! I vet hopped for 2 years before finding NFAH. My kiddo has been coming here for 5 years now and there has never been a time where I felt they weren’t the most professional, knowledgeable, and caring vets and vet techs around. When my boy recently had a horrible case of pneumonia, I knew he couldn’t be in better hands. He made a full recovery and is back to running the house Big big thank you to Dr. Burkhead, Dr. Alejandro, Dr. Karl, and the amazing techs that took care of G!

Fantastic experience: Dr George Simmons and North Florida Animal Hospital filled one of our toughest days with compassion, kindness and professionalism. We were treated like family which made the horrible day we had to let our old Saint Bernard cross the rainbow bridge be a day that I remember their kindness and compassion.

Negative experience: This must be the vet for wealthy people; they are expensive! 2 dogs for routine exam/vaccinations $923. I did ask for bloodwork for one of the dogs, which was $237, but no money left to even get a year of heartworm meds for my dogs which was why I took them in the first place! Can't get heartworm meds without the prescription! Should I feel so lucky that they sold me 1 dose for each of my dogs? 1 dose of Simparica for each dog which was $44 for one of my dogs and $45 for the other! I need an affordable vet that is not trying to take advantage of people! People don't want to adopt because of vets like this! Who can afford this? Still need to find a good and reasonable vet if anyone has recommendations. Still need meds for my dogs after getting robbed by this place! Also asked for one of the owners to give me a call to discuss this and was told they would, but they didn't. This is why many people won't adopt animals that need a home! How can Pet Vet at Tractor Supply do these same vaccinations for $140 each pet? Another couple hundred plus for blood work seems more reasonable, but $923? Wow, I screwed up bad coming to this vet, don't make the same mistake I did! Btw, they wanted another $400+ for each dog to get Symparica Trio; Almost another $1k! Terrible!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Clark and Dr. Valentine are amazing vets. In fact every time we have taken our sweet girl in the entire staff has been so sweet and caring! Both doctors have made calls to us not the techs to give us news on our girls health and the next plan of action. Cannot say enough for the team at North Florida Animal Hospital! They went above and beyond for our son and sweet daughter in law when they lost their sweet boy Tucker a couple of years ago.

Negative experience: Great place until they decided to stop sending prescription to other pharmacies. My senior dog is on multiple medications including prescription food which they do not even have in the facility. Now i have to mail prescriptions which might even get lost. Sad when money comes before the pets.

Negative experience: Another update: Before my last update I sent an email to the customer service manager thanking her for the quote but also telling her i knew she was prying into my personal life and that it was not any of her business nor that of the animal hospital. She shared that email with our mutual friend. More creepy vibes from her. I would think there is some kind of violation of work rules- if not it just sounds ethically wrong. So happy I changed animal hospitals. The actions of that customer service manager are unprofessional and doing the hospital a disservice. ------------------- Update: Things have changed....getting a quote took several calls. I had questions on the quote and had to make several calls to get answers. Customer Svc staff say they are leaving messages for manager - no call back. It's annoying and really doesn't meet my expectations. Then there's the customer Svc manager who has a mutual 'friend'. I just told her the dog he got from her is adorable as I've never seen the breed before. She texted him after she got off the phone with me to find out how we know each other. Creepy vibes from her as it really isn't her business. He didn't think so either. Weird how she had time to pry but not properly train her staff on proper customer service. Loved Dr. Todd but the customer service staff leaves a lot to be desired. Decided to switch. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dr Todd is great - our dogs are exceptionally needy - We even had an incident where they drank a bottle of canola oil - we had a disaster on our hands when we were getting ready to move last August. The staff helped with getting the digestive issues in check quickly.

Fantastic experience: Great service and understanding staff! Price was comparable to a "hometown" vet office we previously used. Our little standard poodle puppy "Max" is now doing great.

Fantastic experience: Have taken my dogs to N. FLA. Animal Hospital for about 15 years now. Very pleased with care. Highly recommend. Dr. Todd is excellent. They do a good job of notifying me of upcoming exams, shots, tests, etc. Technicians interact well with your pet.

Fantastic experience: The vet dr and vet asstiant were amazing , we didn't feel rushed and they answered all our questions and then some. Helped explain the treatment plan and what it looked like going forward. All medicines were in house and filled on the spot. They took their time with my pup she is very shy and was scared. They didn't rush her at all. They got down on the floor with her to do the exam and give shots. Im very very happy with my experience, only down side is the price but that's what you have to expect when you have a pet. Thank you again I do belive we have found our family vets office. Fantastic experience: Dr. Fullerton was so informative yet was empathetic to my visit when my cat was sick for days and could not keep anything down. It scared me but he was awesome with her and I appreciate it so much!!

Positive experience: I brought my small dog in w/o appointment, and the staff and doctor treated us with genuine care and kindness. Turns out my dog is grieving the loss of my husband, and not in physical pain. So we’ll get through this together with The Lord's help, and peace of mind knowing that she wasn’t actually injured or in physical pain. Thank you

Fantastic experience: The staff were friendly on the phone and in person. They saw me the day after I called for an appointment. I was told the costs prior to anything being done for my cat. I thought the prices were reasonable. The test results came back in just a few minutes and the doctor went over the results thoroughly and answered all my questions. I cannot say enough good things about North Florida Animal Hospital. I hold heartedly recommend the clinic.

Fantastic experience: My Patches kitty had a terrible nose bleed. They took X-rays and did blood work and we figured out he had a bit of an upper respiratory infection. He must've blown a blood vessel when sneezing. He is much better today!! Thank you North Florida Animal hospital!!

Negative experience: I boarded my dog here over the weekend and Dr. Newby took it upon herself to sedate him the whole time without prior consent or any attempt to contact us beforehand. There are multiple other drugs that would have been much more appropriate if needed AFTER contacting me for approval. It feels very unethical to me to keep a golden retriever heavily sedated for three days without contacting the owners and making them aware. He is 112 pounds and had to be lifted into the car because of the amount of drugs they gave him without permission. When confronted about it their response was "I just didn't get around to calling" which is inexcusable and highly unprofessional and inappropriate. We will no longer be using them for boarding or out veterinary needs. A simple phone call could have prevented all of this frustration and trauma on our dog but they were unwilling to pick up the phone and call.

Fantastic experience: I've now been back in town for 10 years, and CoCo and I are still enjoying the exemplary customer service and level of care we always have at NFAH. I recommend them to family members and friends, and I simply wouldn't go anywhere else for CoCo Care. Update several years after my initial review, below: NFAH is STILL the best place to take your fur baby! I just signed up for the new Paw Plan, which makes paying for pet care much easier. My CoCo is treated like a celebrity, and I'm so grateful to Dr. Hagood, Christine, Hannah, Lilly, Elizabeth, Willy & all the spectacular staff members who make every visit a pleasure. I will continue to recommend North Florida Animal Hospital! Original Review: We moved away 2 years ago, and it took us 3 different vets before we found one who treated our Chica like a member of our family. We arrived back in Tallahassee, & it was like we never left! The folks at NFAH welcomed us back with open arms. Nothing can compare with the service, care and LOVE NFAH provides! Since my last review, we had to put Chica to sleep. Again, Dr. Hagood and the entire staff at NFAH treated us like we were the most important client they had. A truly tragic experience was made bearable by their warmth and understanding. We have since rescued a new 4-legged fur child, CoCo, who has already received the same wonderful quality of care. We recommend NFAH to everyone we know.

Fantastic experience: They were very accommodating with my two cats. I liked how they had a separate entrance for cats vs dogs, as my cats are not comfortable around dogs. They were very kind and patient here, I really recommend!

Fantastic experience: Very good, my dog needed her annual vaccinations and was also having a seasonal allergy problem. Both were taken care of quickly and professionally.

Fantastic experience: Everyone was so nice! My kitty does NOT like men, and she did not have a bad reaction to the two male drs at all. they were extremely attentive and helpful with answering all my questions!

Fantastic experience: Very nice staff. I really like there is dedicated entrance for cats. Dr. Burkhead was so gentle and kind with Boo. She is a senior cat who just moved to Tallahassee area so needed a new vet. Very clean facility. It was super nice they had water and a litter box and a toy for her and I to play with. They have really long hours so lot availability and flexibility. The only very small thing was that you could hear lots of noise in the room that seemed to concern and put Boo on edge more than I have seen her in other vets. I highly recommend North Animal Hospital!

Fantastic experience: I brought my little rat here as an emergency yesterday because we discovered he had a big lump on his tummy. This office was very nice and professional and they treated my rat like any other animal which I appreciated a lot. The tech said he was a good polite boy and gave him pets and scritches which i’m sure he enjoyed. I liked that they just like treated him as if he was a puppy or kitten and didn’t care that he was a weirdo nakey rat. We had to put him to sleep but the doctor gave us his paw prints on a card and in clay in a nice box. I think that was really nice. They also did not pressure us to do anything and only told us the facts and their personal experiences with other rats like him. Also the doctor seemed genuinely sad that our rat had a tumor. They were very gentle with our little baby and us the whole time. Also, I like that they have a board with the names of the kitties being seen that day in different colors. Also we had to come as an emergency walk in and two others had come before us so it took a long time for us to be seen (which i did not mind at all because any animal deserves care especially if they are in pain and our rat just had a lump and didn’t seem to really care about his lump lol) and taken care of and I felt bad that they had to stay after they closed to take care of us but they didn’t seem to mind at all and didn’t even say anything about it. I recommend this office if you have an exotic emergency. Also, I just received a nice card in the mail from this office for their condolences and I think that’s really nice, and they didn’t have to do that <3

Fantastic experience: Oh my visit with Dr Haygood and helper was so comforting. I rescued a sweet Rat terrier, he checked her over and made me so glad I had reinforcement that she was I good health. I have had several dogs since the 1970.s and have always been so pleased with the care at North Florida Animal Hospital.

From the moment we walked in, everyone was kind, compassionate, and incredibly helpful. They took the time to explain everything Lucky was going through in a clear and honest way. We especially appreciated that they respected our budget and always communicated with us before moving forward with any treatment that would increase the cost. It made us feel included, supported, and truly cared for during such a stressful time. A very special thank you to Dr. Alejandro and Dr. Harley for their dedication and care. You were both amazing and we couldn’t be more thankful for how you handled Lucky’s case. He’s doing great now, getting stronger and better every single day! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Fantastic experience: Our regular vet referred us here to get deeper tests done on our very sick kitty. (She's gone from a round-and-fluffy 11+lbs to barely 7.) They were very kind and you can tell they love animals. And even though we haven't gotten "one true answer" the vet we worked with was thorough and extremely informative. She went above and beyond to give our cat the best possible outcome (and that's what really matters). Hopefully, our wee baby will feel better soon. If not, though, we know we have an awesome team that'll help us. ETA: they remain awesome. We've been referred again for another sick baby and the docs were again awesome.

Fantastic experience: NFAH…. I don’t have the adequate words to truly endorse this amazing group! My dog has had some very difficult issues to contend with and every time I walk in the door, I am greeted with kindness and hello and love towards my dog… Dr. Fogler has spent the majority of time with my dog and blessings from above to have received her and her loving care and understanding of the quirks. My dog has. I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. The staff is amazing, front desk that veterinarians. I always know why I’m going there, and I always leave knowing their strategizing and continue. Fantastic experience: Dr. Newby is the best vet! She actually takes the time to look at my cats and provide feedback. She recently had to do a dental cleaning on my cat. Her team communicated before, during and after the procedure which made me feel very comfortable. Would recommend!

Fantastic experience: My Boxer and I had a wonderful conference with Dr. Simmons about her new diet and weight loss. He made some helpful suggestions to supplement her diet and up the amount I was feeding her. Dr. Simmons is always ready to listen and respond whether in office or by phone. He has cared for our previous 3 Boxers through the years.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Simmons at North Florida Animal Hospital is the veterinarian that veterinarians use for their animals. I am an equine DVM. I chose Dr. Simmons and NFAH because I have known of their excellent and elite service for decades. The staff is first class. The entire experience was highly organized and efficient. Our dog Maci went in for her spay at 7am and when I picked her up at 3 pm, she acted like nothing had happened. At 48 hours post operation she hasn’t missed a beat. Those results require an excellent surgeon and anesthesia team. I highly recommend Dr Simmons and the entire NFAH team without reservation. They have made excellence a habit.
