Experiencia fantástica: We ( my fur baby and I) love Tacoma Animal Hospital. Everyone there is so kind, caring, and respectful. They make sure you completely understand everything. I brought thumbelina in for diarrhea and not eating for three days. Even though there was only one Dr. and they had an emergency that morning. The Dr. took time (about 20 min. ) to talk with me about what was going on with thumbelina and made sure I understood. This will be the only vet I will take thumbelina.

Experiencia fantástica: Tacoma Animal Hospital worked with me on the new adoption of my dog. We had know idea he had a problem with seizures or an eye infection and this little dog was a tuff customer to work with. They worked us into the Dr Natte's schedule and I will be forever grateful for his care in handling a patient who has a temperament for biting. They even fit me for a second appointment the following day after this little fellow could be seen safer. I am forever grateful. I only wish I lived in Tacoma and not Snohomish I would bring my own dog to him. The Tacoma Humane Society provided help with the first visit with the adoption. Check them out. The whole staff and environment is a wonderful experience.

Experiencia fantástica: First time coming here and everyone was so amazing and sweet. They made us feel welcomed and answered all our questions when we found out our poor girl Noel has cancer. They were compassionate and apologized for the news. I have definitely found a new vet place to take my fur babies to. They care about people and the animals over money for sure. I have been to alot of vet places before that you can tell only care about money and will turn you away, not here though, they are great. I highly recommend coming here.

She also takes into account each individual’s financial situation, which is so helpful. My dog hates the vet but is immediately calmer when she enters the room. Experiencia fantástica: The doc and staff were all so kind. My dog got hurt and I was scared, they didn’t pressure me into procedures. They talked about the benefits of insurance for my dog prior to testing to assist with costs. They were gentle with my dog as he was assessed and answered all my questions.
Experiencia negativa: Do not go here. Extremely overpriced and will upsell like crazy. I took my pup in for a health certificate to travel to the state of Hawaii, which is super strict… $400 later and the health certificate wasn’t even correct… at least my dog’s ears are clean for a full $73! Seriously, Hawaii does that for $35. Outrageous. The staff were lovely, that’s it. I’d never go back here and am upset I even went here in the first place.

They approve. Even my sweet drama queen dog approves.

Experiencia fantástica: My cat had a URI that was getting worse and when my regular vet couldn't get me in for 10 days I decided to find somewhere else to try to get in to the day before Thanksgiving. I chose this place because I could make an appointment online (very nice feature). I went with very low expectations but I just needed my cat seen. Dr. Sara(h)? Kwon was absolutely INCREDIBLE. She was thorough, kind, compassionate, gentle, thoughtful, considerate, and understanding. While she offered certain remedies/tests, she made it so easy to say no to the things I wanted without feeling guilty or burdens financially and still delivered the highest quality of care. My cat is slowly feeling better and I have a new vet! Win win. The entire staff was lovely. They all enjoy their jobs and you can sense that from the moment you walk in. It was a unexpected, yet wonderful experience. 10 out of 10!

After a bad experience at a previous vet, I was nervous to take my boy anywhere, but he needed to be seen on fairly short notice and I ended up being happy with the care he received here. My fur baby deserves the best in the world, so I don’t take his veterinary care lightly!

Experiencia fantástica: It was a pretty great experience I really enjoyed taking my dog there who really needed ti be seen to start the process of getting her on the wellness plan and get her set up for future tooth extractions, they were so flexible and so amazing with how many different estimates with different options such as one tooth or two, medication and whatnot. For a $1900 full cost with the flea medicine and mouth rinse it was possible to get it broken down into multiple options to figure out which route we can go with, and all done without even asking. I appreciate the vets attention to my dog and thorough exam. Happy to be taking her there.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr Hughs and her team are absolutely wonderful. I had to call in short notice due to my cat suddenly peeing everywhere and losing a ton of weight quickly. Turns out he's diabetic. Throughout the whole learning process, Dr Hugh called me every morning during the first two weeks to check in and tell me what she saw on his glucose monitor, but also gave me her email so I could contact her with my concerns. My anxiety definitely was up there but the wonderful compassionate people at Tacoma Animal Hospital helped ease my nerves. Thank you all for what you do. Your guidance is definitely helping me give my senior cat the best care possible.
Experiencia fantástica: I cant say ebough positive things about this clinic. I was broke and they worked with me to find the best somutions possible for my dog and my wallet. They never shamed me, they never made me feel terrible. Instead they worked with me and their sister clinic. Dr. B called us several times to check on our dog and I could tell he really was invested too. Vet care is often expensive and I understand why they cant do things for free/reduced, but being open about my limitations helped us all win. Please remeber that next time youre mean to vet staff because things are expensive.

Don't try to self treat for fleas see the vet. They are very good and can help you they have more knowledge about animals

And I’d have taken anyone over the other two I interviewed. These people are wonderful in my short experience and have provided additional guidance I underestimated.

My dog has pretty bad anxiety about going to the vet and they did an exceptional job making her feel comfortable during the exam. Experiencia positiva: Been here a few times with both dogs. I’ve tried to find the right fit and had gone to recommendations near this area. What I liked that the others didn’t seem to give was courteous & caring staff. Knowledgeable veterinarians who don’t push unnecessary tests. Never have I felt pushed or pressured by the Dr. they show good transparency. Cost wise? I think they’re pretty competitive which means the prices are higher then some other parts of tacoma but it is an an hospital and good luck getting into the cheaper places I feel like I called every vet in this area and the better priced ones weren’t taking in any new patients.. so for now I’ll come here to this place. I have two happy dogs ❤️

The comnunication, the availability, the care, are all top tier. The prices seem to be the same as everywhere else, but they offer a monthly subscription program that is incredibly helpful and covers just about everything. I love this place and so does my pup Champ!

Dr Hughs is the best veterinarian I've ever worked with, and she is particularly skilled in emergencies and complicated scenarios. She is an outstanding veterinarian, her expertise is not only extremely valuable for the care and well-being of my pets but she saves me a considerable amount of time, money and anxiety by quickly identifying and isolating our complicated issues and focusing care on what's best for my pets' long-term health,quality of life and our financial ability. Dr Hughs is compassionate, kind and caring and I always feel confident that my pets have received the best care possible and that I matter to this clinic as a client. It's no secret that veterinary Care can be expensive but Tacoma animal hospital does an exemplary job in balancing their caseload with providing excellent care with dignity and compassion. This work is clearly where Dr. Hughs' heart is. No one gets rich being a veterinarian and it's obvious in the way she cares for her patients that this is her first love. I never feel rushed even though I know there's never a lull in pets who need attention and I'm always amazed at the time she devotes to making sure she's communicated completely and effectively all the information about my pet. I've had to say goodbye to two pets in this office over the years and, while that process is never easy, Dr Hughs and her staff did everything they could to ease the pain and discomfort my pets were in and to help me manage my grief. I'm sure she often sees patients who love their pets but struggle to provide the care that they need due to financial constraints. Their pricing is extremely reasonable and over the years I've used paw plans to effectively help mitigate some of the routine costs.There's never any judgment or criticism from this clinic, and they do their best to meet the needs of every pet that walks in the door. I just can't rate Tacoma Animal Hospital and Dr Elizabeth Hughs highly enough. You can trust them with your baby(ies) as I have for 13 years ❤️

Experiencia negativa: I brought in one of my puppies whom was having a seizures they couldnt figure out the cause or stop them and told me a emergency vet would be best but would cost thousands of dollars, so i was left with the option to put him to sleep with a total bill of over $600. A week later his brother had the same issue and they diagnosed and saved my baby for $365 out the door... turns out mom had gotten a flea treatment and they were exposed. My main complaint was scaring me about it being a minimum of thousands without knowing what she was talking about

Experiencia fantástica: Excellent service and such a friendly staff to be welcomed and caring for my little Montana! I am impressed with the knowledge and letting me know what is best for him. Montana is 1 yr old Goldendoodle and is very adored by the physicians and staff. Loved it when the doc threw treats on the floor to keep him occupied while she went over his plan for his procedure with me with no interruptions.
Experiencia negativa: Prior visits VERY pleased (left a 5star review and told all my pet owner friends) with the service, explanations, and care for my pet. This visit was NONE of those things. Exam less than a min, my questions were answered in a patronizing rush. After the 1 min insufficient exam - vet was leaving and said tech would be in to give estimation of costs. I asked what about the shots? She responded “oh, let me check” This was purpose of visit and I wanted to discuss getting some teeth removed. The time w vet was rushed, spoken to impersonally and I don’t think she knew my pets name. No effort at all to be kind to my dog at all. Other visits, vet came back after the tech gave cost estimation, to check on her and answer any questions. Dr Hughes did not. Before, I really felt they cared about my dogs health and well being, this time was - give me a lot of your money and go away. Very disappointed with the service, my pet is part of my family, she is over 12 yo and I expect more visits due to her aging and need a vet that cares and is kind. Dr Kwon/Dr Black were that way, Dr Hughes absolutely was NOT. Front staff and tech that did the bordetella nasal thing were fine, friendly, good service. I didn’t even care about having to wait, they were behind schedule- not an issue because of the customer service. I assume you like animals if you work at an animal hospital, how hard is it to say hello and give some rubs to a cute dog… even if you are having a bad day, that would/should help
Experiencia negativa: Do not take your Dog here! They will do things that will cause greater harm to your pet! And accept no responsibility for it just take your $1500 for nothing! Than they don't even detect a break/fracture in a paw and the staff man handled that paw so badly the dog hasn't walked right since! More money given with zero results from any treatment! They should be shut down! I'm furious!
Experiencia negativa: Although my rating is for the entire hospital, it is 100% due to the unprofessional behaviors of Dr. Heather. Dr. Heather, who has never met my dog before, decided within the first 20 seconds of meeting her that she needed to have a muzzle on. This was because she came in aggressively, didn’t spend any time trying to introduce herself, just grabbed my dog‘s leash told her to come, and when my dog didn’t immediately listen, she drug her across the floor by her leash which made my dog growl. She was trying to hide under my feet, and was extremely scared of Dr. Heather. Dr. Heather‘s response was to drag her then muzzle her. Not only did she muzzle her, she continuously yelled at her to “leave it” while my dog was trying to take the muzzle off of her face. She made my already anxious dog scared out of her mind. She never stopped being aggressive to my dog until she was done with ear swabs and she wanted to give me her sales pitch. At that time my dog was cowering and shaking hiding behind me until we left. We left without making any further appointments there, because I would never trust leaving my dog alone with this doctor. If she was willing to do these abusive techniques in front of me, I would never leave her alone with an animal. There was no part of this appointment where I felt like she actually cared about my dog. You could tell she cared about her time, her sales pitch, and us getting appointments, but didn’t care that my dog came from an abusive place before I got her or that my dog was scared out of her mind.
Experiencia negativa: Brought my pet for an examination. I've been going to this vet before they changed their name and/or ownership. Coming there the front desk staff were pleasant. The waiting area was small, but the wait itself wasn't too bad. I should of known then. My compliant is that the vet made me feel rushed like it was a puppy mill but for its patients and that they didn't do a great job doing a biopsy. I paid out of pocket for an exam and biopsy, which came back inconclusive because the sample they took was too bloody. Now they want me to pay again? I call to complain to them which the vet is not available..of course!! no time to talk to the patrons. So I email the vet, which I expected for them to get back to me. They are so disconnected that someone else had to write me back. They detailed that it would be best to talk with a specialist. I thought the vet was the specialist. I didn't know my pet needed a referral. I have already called multiple times for details.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr Hughs is a wonderful human being and was there for us when we had to put our cat Humphrey Bogart down. She even offered hugs at the end and assured us that we were doing the right thing. Our old fella went to play with his sisies in peace. Mommy and daddy loves you. Experiencia fantástica: I have so much gratitude for Dr. Hughes and the whole team at Tacoma Animal Hospital. From staff at the front desk to the vet techs, everyone is absolutely wonderful. After driving my neighbor and his sweet pitbull to an appointment at Tacoma Animal Hospital, I was so impressed with the care and attention of detail by Dr. Jimmy Black that I immediately switched my dogs over to them. Dr. Black took time to answer a lot of questions after a challenging diagnosis. It’s clear the heart he has for animals. Dr. Hughes has been a great doctor as my dog and I have navigated her Addison’s Disease diagnosis. It’s been a tough road but the level of detail that Dr. Hughes goes into, research about treatments, listening and understanding, and team work with me to provide the best care for my dog has brought so much do comfort. She gives it to me real, which I appreciate, so I truly understand what my dog and I are navigating. She brings great empathy and expertise to all she does. We in Tacoma are lucky to have such an expert team in the region to help care for our animals.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Kwon at Tacoma Animal Hospital is the very best vet we've ever had in 20 years of pet ownership. Even though she's busy, when you're in her care she is 100% focused on your pet and never rushes the appointment. She calls to follow up when needed. She's extremely thorough. For years we've tried to get a diagnosis for our dog and within 2 appointments Dr. Kwon had a diagnosis and a treatment plan that included both eastern and western medicine. He's doing so much better. The front desk staff is sweet and helpful.
Experiencia negativa: If you schedule an appointment online the representative is unable to help you. New patient. Recently moved and looking for a new vet. Went online and scheduled an appointment because they had good reviews…the online portal scheduled me the next day (not the date I selected). Couldn’t cancel because it was less than 24 hours away. Went ahead and schedule the appointment for the correct day. Got an email less than 24 hours before my correctly scheduled appointment saying I needed a deposit due to my previous no show appointment. The one that was a system error on their part. I called and the representative on 6/12 after 3pm who had an attitude (no name), no accountability to the situation, and kept saying the hospital doesn’t have control over the online portals…her remedy to the problem was to add a note to my account about the system error but that wouldn’t be guarantee when I come in tomorrow. My partner called to get the issues resolved and the same representative (still no name) had continued attitude and no accountability besides blaming not having control over the system. If you don’t have control over the online system then have proper process in order to remedy issues. I’m a new patient. Haven’t stepped foot into this building. I’m already having issues with computer system and now the representative. Make the moment right. Do right by your current and future customers. If you care about your cancellations then have a proper system for your customers or your representatives to fix it
Experiencia negativa: My partner took our newborn pointer puppies there for tail docking. We told them to do the breed standard of 30% and they completely messed it up and cut all the tails way too short on all five puppies. They are like rottweiler tails now, not pointer tails. None of these puppies' tails meet the breed standard now. $900 and none of these puppies can be showed.

Experiencia fantástica: This place is amazing! For all these so called bad reviews sharing things I think are completely OVER EXAGGERATED. The staff is amazing, compassionate and caring! My families Dog (Sherman) is a literal nuisance! He has come so far with his temperament, because of the staff here. Dr. kwon is absolutely PHENOMENAL! Sherman can literally only come to this vet office, and no where else or he will attack other Vets. He was facing a major surgery, and through cheaper alternatives, and alternative meds, he did not have to go through that surgery, which is great for his advanced age! Thanks to Dr. Kwon, Dr. Black, Rebecca the Vet assistant, and Sofia, and everyone else! Sherman loves coming here! P.S. Get pet insurance! It saves you in the long run. No it's not a scam! It's health insurance. DUH!

They were able to get me in for same day appointments twice in a row, and have some of the most reasonable prices around. The small office very homely, and offers a community oriented feel. Although they are not Fear Free Certified, I was pleasantly surprised with all the staff’s knowledge and understanding of anxious and fearful pets. Everyone was happy to accommodate my dog reactive and vet fearful dog ☺️ Would definitely recommend:)

She is very knowledgeable, friendly, and truly made us feel listened to. We were also pleased with all support staff. The office was clean and comfortable. Experiencia fantástica: Dr.Kwan was amazing! Ive had bad experiences with the vet in the past, and this was such a lovely experience this time. My dog is generally pretty skittish but Dr.Kwan had him warmed up in no time. The rest of the staff were also very helpful and helped me get set up for the Paw Plan. The hospital itself is expensive, but it's the vet so that's expected. All in all, thank you for the excellent care!
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Heather Serwon is simply an amazing Veterinarian. So I took Frodo in for an appointment the other day to get his leg looked at. This is the same medical clinic that we had taken Master to for an emergency when he got the kitty litter stuck in him. I didn’t realize that they had regular veterinarian services there. Mr. Frodo is a little chunky monkey pork chop… In the most loving sense. So I was a little bit worried about how the visit would go, because he has not been to Veterinarian in quite a while. He doesn’t really take too kindly to strangers, he is definitely pack protective. He was such a good boy that day. He was nervous, but he was kind and gentle because she was kind and gentle. She even had to give him an anal exam, and he handled that so well. I would venture to guess, that he even liked her or at least understood that she cared about him and his well-being. The surgery is kind of tricky, because the mass is so big, and they don’t know if there will be enough skin to be able to properly stitch him up. She was very forthcoming about that and even brought in her associate. But I really feel like she’s the right person to do this. So she called me back with the labs, and they were amazing results. She gave me her recommendations about a harness, and we talked about the vaccinations. She was even open to me doing them myself at home, but I’m gonna go to tractor supply for that on Sunday. She did not push vaccinations and was fine with me picking and choosing as long as I had the rabies vaccination covered. She was adamant about sticking to the Farmers Dog… That being the best that we can do for Frodo. So imagine my surprise, when today I get another phone call. She went and checked all the formulas at Farmers Dog, and called me back and told me that she didn’t feel like the turkey would serve Frodo as well as the beef, pork and chicken. Those three formulas are designed to also maximize urinary and bladder health. The turkey does not hit the mark on it. The clinic that I go to, for her services is cheaper than all the other Veterinarian services, it used to be called value Pet. I feel like the care and attention that they have shown my pets even after I have left their office, is noteworthy and commendable. She truly loves my dog, and I am very thankful.
Experiencia positiva: Instead of telling people they should take their pets to a place that is more financially viable, how about making your clinic more affordable. That way you aren’t making patrons feel like they aren’t worth your time. Let me put this way, if I were running a business I wouldn’t tell people to go find another option, I’d do what I could to ensure that they are serviced and I get paid a fair market price. Instead of telling people to go find cheaper options. If Walmart can price match, you can too. Maybe if you put prices for stuff online, you could avoid having the poors come in. Or you could not upcharge 300%, I shouldn’t have a vet tell me that I can get my cat neutered for significantly cheaper at a different clinic. Why can’t I get it for that same price here? What makes this location so special?
Experiencia negativa: Very upsetting to find out that the information that was giving to me was not up front with bill and the cost of the visit. Wanted me to put it in a plan, but the interest was an additional $450. Now out of pocket bill is adding up to pass the amount I was informed. Not Cool and very misleading. People was nice, but still giving them a two start. Due to either miss information or the staff not now what it cost.
Experiencia fantástica: I can't thank this clinic enough! They were able to get our pup seen the same day I called, he woke up with some sudden paralysis and it was pretty scary. All the staff was very kind and welcoming, Dr. Kwon was amazing and I love that she offers both Western and Eastern medicine. Biggie was given some meds immediately to help him with pain and also a acupuncture w/cold laser treatment. This stuff of course is not cheap, but the clinic was able to work with us and get Biggie the treatment he needs. A week and a half later he is walking again, he is not out of the woods yet but doing so much better! Thank you to everyone at this clinic! You are greatly appreciated by our family!
Experiencia fantástica: Update: I wanted to add on to my original review. I had to bring my dog in today for vaccines and a blood draw. He's social, but not very tolerant of strangers handling him. Before I bought him, he learned that he can bite to get out of situations he doesn't want to be in. Dr. Hughs and the tech (sorry, I once again didn't catch their name) were PHENOMENAL with him. They read his body language well, allowed me to restrain him, and were receptive to what I had to say. It felt like a collaborative effort to get his visit done in a safe manner and I am GREATLY appreciative for that. They were all so patient and understanding. Vet visits with him can be frustrating and embarrassing, but this was an overall positive experience. Once again, Tacoma Animal Hospital really set the bar for great care and high quality service. I am so appreciative of the staff here. Original Review: Tacoma Animal Hospital saved my cat's life. My dog and other cat were already established at another clinic, but not our newest cat. When he started showing some worrisome symptoms, our clinic was booked out for a week. Thankfully we were able to get him seen here within a day or two. The staff here is phenomenal. Everyone was super friendly and knowledgeable. I wish I could remember the name of the tech that we specifically worked with the first time we came in, but I absolutely adore her. We worked with 3 of the vets over the span of multiple visits, and they were all so great. They showed so much compassion and were so patient with me. Of course my cat couldn't just have a simple illness and everything about his case was complicated, but they were able to diagnose him and give him the best care possible. I thought the pricing was incredibly fair and they were transparent about costs before running any tests. I never felt pressured into anything. While my cat was hospitalized, I told them to just do whatever they thought was best. The vet wanted to run a blood test and if it came back inconclusive, they recommended an ultrasound as the next step. The blood test was thankfully all that was needed to diagnose my cat, so they did not proceed with the ultrasound, which was the costly portion of our estimate. So I definitely disagree with the reviews that say this clinic is all about the money. Pets and vet care are expensive, so I don't blame them for educating owners on insurance options. My cat has made a full recovery and is back to his normal self. Due to how wonderful the staff is here and how easy it was to make an appointment, I'll be making Tacoma Animal Hospital the primary vet clinic for my other pets as well.
Experiencia fantástica: We brought in our very sick cat, Snickers. The entire staff was caring, including everyone from the front desk to the surgeon and everyone in between. Our cat had a bladder stone removed the same day with surgery and she is back to her happy / chatty self the same day. Thank you Doctor Heather and staff!!!

Experiencia negativa: Took my dog in for bloody diarrhea and 1x vomiting. The vet technician came in and wrote notes. The vet came in, performed a 2 minute exam, didn't even take temp, and left saying she was going to get the estimate. The vet tech came in and read line by line $1176 of "services" my dog needed. The vet and I never conversed about any potential causes or symptoms or even treatment for that matter. They wanted money- they didn't care about my dog. Ended up researching GI friendly dog diets and he's made a full recovery.
Experiencia negativa: So they changed their name to Value Pet Clinic, not sure why they aren't cheap at all and they are to busy ripping you off that's why I left. So here's what they like to do when you bring your dog or cat in and something is wrong.So I was working 12 hrs a day at the hospital and I had a dog walker (supposed), who was suppose to walk him just around my apt bldg but did not do as I instructed him to do. Now knowing that some people who disregard others or the dumping trash laws ,& still do it anyway right out there windows leaving chicken bones which still may be recent might attract a dog to it being he had an idiot walking him down the main street he was specifically asked not to and my dog eats that chicken bone. And he tells me he thinks my dog ate a bone and not knowing I'm fully aware of where he walked my dog, finally confesses . So I take him here to the supposed low cost clinic ....Now these people have no idea I have not only breed, raised,& trained dogs for the military most of my childhood with my father who was military but I was also an rescue for pitbulls for 4 yrs and not only tended to sick & injured that had been fought and taken those dogs nurtured them, retrained them and rehoused them. I even have my own dog who had cancer that we survived through and the fact that I'm an 25 yr CNA, Med tech - also currently with medical assistant training. So I rushed my dog in here told them what had happened now what they didn't know was I give my dog the wing tip of the chicken wing well used to not any more now he doesn't like it. So he's had chicken, pork, oxtail bones with no issues. So they want to run all these unnecessary tests , do x-rays, fecel test,parvo test , test for worms,which he has had ALL of his shots & been dewormed since he was a puppy, you name it for him eating a bone. Now I've been down this road before where chicken bone he got ahold of caused a slight tear inside and he had to take some antibiotics, they didn't know this. So they wanted me to cough up nearly $900 something dollars for a bone. So I had to give them a bit of info and tell them I'm not paying that this is what we are going to do. X-ray to verify the bone, then whatever antibiotics he needs that's it. She still kept insisting so I told her look your not about the animal your only about the money you can squeeze out of us and still feel good about your self and call your clinic low cost when you're not, your charging people for services NOT necessary. So the young lady next to here had the nerve to chime in and say ma'am we are not trying to rip you off and before she could she another word I stopped her. I said please don't I realize this is your job but I've been caring for dogs my whole life so when you sit up here and order unnecessary tests and procedures that are not needed at all for a bone , that's ripping off people who are LOW INCOME. She couldn't say anything after that and as it was it was just that a bone that had cut the stomach lining but not penetrated it and he was sent home with antibiotics and I never went back there again.

I will definitely be taking my cats here for services in the future. They have military discount and are more affordable, friendly, and clean than a certain “affordable” clinic on 6th Ave.
Experiencia fantástica: Really happy with how they cared for my pet! They really took there time to explain things to me and were really knowledgeable when it came to the needs of my dog! It took 3 of us to hold my 90 pound German Sheppard down to clip his nails but Hey! we got it done and they were extremely nice and patient with us!
Experiencia positiva: Don't waste your time getting a flea treatment here. I wasted time and money. They call it a "prescription" and hand you a box with 1 chewable ... could've went to PETCO and saved 35 bucks. It's called Bravecto. I swear I hate this greedy country. I still gave 4 stars because the staff is very nice.

Dr. Elizabeth Hughs is very personable and ready to really listen to clients about their pets. She does not talk down to you and will take into consideration that the human client in front of her actually knows something that they have personal experiences with.
Experiencia negativa: I made an appointment with Tacoma Animal Hospital, because I could not get an appointment with my regular vet. Before the vet appointment, I kept getting a text from them, suggesting purchasing pet insurance, which made me feel as if this place is only in it for the money, so I thought of giving them the benefit of doubt, On the appointment date, everything seemed to be going well, we did not have to wait long. The tech came in, weighed him, I asked how much he weighed, and she had an attitude in her voice because she had to repeat herself! I let that go… The doctor finally comes in, checks him out as I am explaining the issues, which was my dog ate cat poop, and was sick, but after the first day he was fine, but since I made an appointment, I thought I will take him to make sure he is well, he was feeling well by this time because it had been 3 days. The doctor mentions as she is checking his stomach, she feels a lump, she says, it may be cancer or he ate too much!!! My Fur baby had a couple of cysts, she shaved the area, then left…, in which I have to think about the fact that what if my baby does have cancer!!! Let that soak in while they're preparing the estimate…an hour later, a tech shows up with an estimate…OMG!!!$3353.04!!!! He just ate cat poop, and some cysts, and they want to inject him with 5 different medications, then shames me for not vaccinating my baby for rabies, when I just explained to her that he is allergic, and had to go to the ER, and she still kept arguing with me about getting the shot!!! Obviously, they do not care for our babies. I have a stray cat that was sick, and had to stay in the hospital for 12 hours(Blue Pearl, which I highly recommend), with a lot more diagnostic and treatments, and it did not cost that much! No wonder they had to change their name from Value Pet to this SCAM!!! So to end my vent, I had to let them know that I could not afford the estimated cost, waited an hour of my time, gave them $94, with nothing to relieve my baby…no ointment, no treatment except arguing with me. I have many health issues, with all of the stress I was going through, I nearly passed out. I asked the tech if she could mention to the doctor if there is anything to prescribe him because I could not wait any longer, and she said no, not without getting the tests that needed to be done first. I feel bad for the Fur baby parents that has to succumb to this SCAM, knowing we would do anything to help our babies, too bad they have to take advantage of the PEOPLE. I know You are a Great Fur Baby Parent…DO NOT TAKE YOUR FUR BABIES THERE!!! Stick with your regular vet as I have learned my lesson

They put our pets health first and understand the importance of our pets health: They’ll inform me what is best for our pets and don’t pressure us into any treatment. The staff are nice. Experiencia fantástica: My pup’s vet, Dr. Irwin, recently retired so I was looking for a new vet. Due to an emergency I ended up taking my dog to Tacoma Animal Hospital for an urgent care appointment. Dr. Black was so great with my dog, assessing the emergency and had great follow up, I decided Tacoma Animal Hospital was the new vet for us. Since the switch, Dr. Black put my dog on a new allergy protocol and it has done wonders with far fewer potential side effects. Scheduling appointments is a breeze and I like being provided the cost of everything upfront. Highly recommend.

Experiencia negativa: I took my dog in to be seen for a possible tumor. The vet we saw was awful. Came in the room for a total of 4 minutes. Then left on vacation the next day. We were called by another veternarian that also works there told that the tumor was cancer and that it would cost 10,000 for surgery and an mri. Thank god we got a second opinion. At the other vets office in mercer island they removed the tumor for 1400 dollars and showed us how in the report tacoma animal hospital charged us 1900 dollars for that it said its possibly cancerous. That they werent even sure if there was cancer in the first place and the test of the removed tumor was proven non cancerous. The vets from tacoma animal hospital scared us making us think if we did do the surgery our dog would become incontinent if we payed less than 10,000 dollara. The Tacoma Animal Hospital are more about money than animal care. They made it seem like if we didnt give them 10,000 dollars we were neglecting our dog only to find out it wasnt even cancer at all. I will never trust them again. Not even with flea medicine.
Experiencia negativa: My daughter took her dog in today and they treated this dog like she was nothing. They pretty much wanted us to put her down. We decided to go ahead and take her home. I would not recommend this place. They had no end of the days care or pain medication they had nothing to give us information, they were rough with her. The doctor did not come in when we all came to the office thinking we were going to say goodbye. We did not have any aftercare. All they gave us was a cremation paper. If I could give this a zero star I definitely would you care about your dog or human enough Teva walked through that door don’t Tell me that our dog was paralyzed, and when I walked in, that was not even the case horrible
Experiencia fantástica: Dr.Black is very personable and professional. He had the unfortunate task of giving us some bad news. He was very empathetic and answered all of our questions. We also have worked with Dr. Kwan she is extremely knowledgeable on western medicine and we are hopeful the path we chose with her will allow us to keep making memories with out boy for a little longer I cannot forget to mention the techs and all the others who work behind the scenes, they are sweet and understanding !

Experiencia positiva: The visit over all was amazing and I will be recommending it to others in the area. I'm watching my friends dogs for a month or so and one of them was having insane diarrhea. He also has an obvious infection on his mouth/snout area that I wasn't sure if it was contributing to it and most likely needs antibiotics based on the amount of obvious puss, so it was a very overwhelming situation for me. The receptionist was so kind and helpful over the phone when making the appointment, and during check in. The vet TECH was understanding and talked me through the diarrhea meds and said she'd talk to the vet about antibiotics. The veterinarian themselves must have been having a bad day because she/they came in and aggressively gave a spiel about how they don't give antibiotics for diarrhea (first of all duh, second if you had said hello or paused to take a breath I could have told you why I asked about antibiotics) and left the room. The vet TECH came back in and gave me an estimate and was kind and understanding when going over the estimate and pricing, and happily worked with me on getting the meds acquired. They have programs to help people who are in financial distress with vet costs, they have pet insurance programs, and they have "merch" you can purchase to support those amazingly helpful programs they provide! I bought some adorable stickers! Overall I was very pleased with our visit and will likely be making this my cats vet office, despite the dismissal by the veterinarian.
Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful vet hospital with caring and accommodating staff! I had an appointment scheduled and the morning of I wasn't feeling well but wanted to make sure my cat was seen. They were very understanding and offered a curbside appointment for him. I was kept in the loop the entire time and both Dr. Meiman and the vet techs were willing to explain every step of the process, what the exam told them, and what the game plan was. My little guy is on the upswing and I now have a trusted place to bring him to next time a problem arises. Thank you to the amazing staff at TAH!
Experiencia negativa: DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! They are an absolute scam. They convinced me to get this puppy plan for my puppy that costs $90 a month and includes all the shots she will need for her first year and her spay. I thought it was a good deal so I signed up. My puppy was given shots the first day that she was seen as asked. When leaving I went to schedule an appointment for my dog to get her next shots. She never discussed scheduling a date with me and instead gave me all the rabies paperwork. After asking to get scheduled again, she scheduled us. I looked at the receipt and there were no future dates scheduled. Then a week ago, I receive a text message saying my dog needs shots. I tried to call the place MULTIPLE times as it appears someone would pick up and hang up. Finally today i was able to get a hold of someone. Initially, they told me that my dog had no appointments on the calendar. Then she said we missed an appointment (a month ago) as a no call no show. She then continued to tell me that I would be responsible for paying my dogs shots outside or the monthly fee because we no call no showed. It is absolutely disgusting to me that they would schedule me and not tell me, then say I no called no showed to appointment I wasn’t aware of. And the to top it off, now I have to pay more money because of their scheduling error. Very disappointing.
Experiencia negativa: Not great at all! The vet barely examined my pup and made several comments on what she thought we should do! Then went out to get an estimate on what she thought I should spend! I got a definite feeling the visit was all about money and not at all about my pets well being! So we saw the Dr.for about 3 minutes and she never came back to talk to me at all just sent a tech to take care of us. I get the feeling it was because I didn't agree to spend thousands of dollars! I also noticed the number of elderly people in there with their pets. I do not know how anyone on a fixed income could afford this place! Not a good experience or feeling for me.
Experiencia negativa: I brought my cat here to establish care, and to have him seen for illness after moving here from Seattle. They forced rabies shots on him despite him already being vaccinated, and claimed it was because he was feisty. A 15yr old indoor cat in a vet didn't want to be in, being handled by strangers? Shocking. They charge near 80 dollars to take a blood pressure, and with absolutely no answers, no treatment plan, and 2 trips totalling nearly $1400.00 dollars cash, he was sent home. They were not loving, welcoming, comforting or warm toward my cat, and they didn't handle my cat being advocated for in a medical setting very well. The staff behaved in a way that said silently but very loudly, "Why are you asking questions, we're not going to answer you unless we're saying, "Yeah I don't know. We don't care about your pet we care about your money." That is how it felt being there, worried about my favorite creature on the planet. If you work in Healthcare, (and I do), your empathy and ethics come first. If they don't, sign yourself out of service until you find them again. It is not your patient's burden that you lack compassion or reverence to the concern of anyone except yourself. I won't be returning, I'll be on the lookout for a more ethical practice, and I would not recommend TAH. We still don't have any answers.

Experiencia negativa: Made an appt online to have my puppy's cropped ears rewrapped. Called the day before to verify this was something they could do. The doctor came in for about a 90 second "exam". Waited around an hour total to be told that none of the doctors know how to wrap ears. Still got charged $100 for an "exam" that he didn't need, they knew he had just had an exam at another vet 3 days prior. Doctor also seemed judgemental and condescending about treating a dog with cropped ears. Have been going to this vet for years and years, very disappointing
Experiencia negativa: I like that this place has same day appointments but their routine care is not great. We put in for a refill on our dog’s prescription through our pharmacy and the vet claims they never got it. So we called the vet directly to have them send the refill, by this time our dog was almost out of meds. They said they would “get to it”. Which they did not, even with a couple of phone calls. It’s now 6 days later and they still haven’t sent in the prescription refill!!! and we have run out of medication. I’m very frustrated and feel that the vet doesn’t care about my dog’s health and wellbeing.
Experiencia fantástica: We took our dog here today and have nothing but positive things to say. Our dog is terrified of the vet, but the staff here made him feel safe and comfortable. The veterinarian James Black was phenomenal, he was great with our dog and very informative to us about his health. We will absolutely be bringing our dog back.
