After being recommended by our primary vet (who is incredibly good but he admittedly doesn't diagnose eye disease), we took our Border Collie to AEI and they quickly diagnosed her condition, provided us with the proper prescriptions and we were done in about 35 minutes. Our BC is showing significant improvement in just 5 days! Thanks AEI !!!

Experiencia negativa: I dont know where to start. Their susposed to treat exotics. I was in communication almost every two days with their office with an appointment that was already scheduled three weeks prior. They stated to me they had a veterinarian who seen primates. I set the appointment up appropriate 3 weeks in advanced and told them the appointment was for a 20 month old black cap capuchin. The day before the appointment I still had not got a answer as to what they were calling in for her to sedate her based on her being a primate, waited for a return call they did call back within 2 hours of me reaching out to them again, as the sedative they use I would have to have filled at the pharmacy the night before to give it to her to night before and morning of. The night before we gave her 50mg for a 6.5 lb capuchin. The morning off I was concerned about what time to give her the other 50mg for sedation as the 50 mg the night before didn't sedate her she was up till 7 am and still awake in route to their facility for her appointment. The receptionist put us on hold to reach a doctor to let them know the sedative didn't work. Was on hold roughly five minutes the "management" unknown male told us why we was in route that they wouldn't see Aloura as he found out about her and her appointment the night before, he was very adamant about it, I explained we set this appointment up your facility even talked to her veterinarian office multiple times, that his office stated they seen capuchins. Non of this mattered we were turned away with Aloura having an eye injury who needed to be seen and evaluated. She has "hornors syndrome and iris attachment to the front of her lens"....since their denial to be seen evaluated or treated Aloura now has to pay the price of TOTAL VISION LOSS, as we have as well as her veterinarian tried to find a primate eye doctor were still searching!!! In time she will have no vision in her right eye. They choose who they care for, could care less if your beloved pet loses their vision. This is sickening. Aloura is still a animal and deserves to have the love care and attention as all the animals you treat. You state you see exotics no you choose what you want to see and treat. It should be up to the doctors of what they treat. Just because you don't like primates don't mean their dangerous. Any animal can bite, she's had her shots, is on a leash & belly band, to which your office prescribed a medication for sedation and would have sedated her reguardless. I would never recommend your office. My Aloura is much too precious for the management here at your facility. To the management (unknowen male)I pray you don't have a beloved animal who gets turned away, and suffers total vision loss, to which requires later for your animal the entire eye be removed or your animal in pain. For you to leave an aminal in pain and be the ultimate reason that animal will lose their vision, possibly their entire eye "how could you sleep at night"? I'm beyound upset, sick to my stomach over how you have treated Aloura, as if she means nothing..... that her health and vision means nothing!!!! She means the world to me & is an innocent animal who you turned away.
Experiencia negativa: In response to the reply, We found a new vet who confirmed the medication is NOT dangerous. This is a bold faced lie by them to get us to make another appointment less than a week after the first one for more money. This place also up - charges their medications up to 3x or more, something our new vet doesn't do either. Joey has never once acknowledges any of these claims in any substantial way, because he can't. -- Joey expressed that he "didn't give a damn" if I wrote this review so here we go! They botched the surgery of my dog at one of the other locations of this establishment, and had me take her (after already being cut open) to another location in Florence because the vet there couldn't figure out how to do the tear duct surgery. she had to be cut open twice for this, and she was originally going to have this major surgery on both eyes per this doctors instructions. when we got switched to the new location, the doctor seemed confused and said she only need done eye done! and it would be detrimental to her health to do both eyes!! honestly scary stuff and I'd find somewhere else if you can for your animal eye needs. This is besides the fact that Joey gave us medication that didn't work, and told us we had to get in touch with the manufactor and it wasn't their problem. They also charge triple the amount for drops that you can get other places, and I'm realizing now how many pointless visits we had to do - they are money hungry here. We instantly found a new doctor who did not have kind things to say about this practice. Save your time and money!
Experiencia fantástica: I've taken my cat there quite a few times. I'm very impressed and kitty is a bit impressed too, I think. Helps put me at ease as well. My cat always sees one of the technician or technologist, one of the main ophthalmologists (DrJamie Lembo) & a veterinary ophthalmologist resident - seeing the resident is optional and we always do. I can't begin to say how grateful I am for the staff at this clinic. Everyone is so pleasant and which helps to put Abu (My cat) relatively 'at ease'. Service is fairly quick, and the institute seems to run very smoothly. Staff at the desk are friendly (pleasant) and professional. We can usually get an appointment fairly easy with not much wait time. I highly recommend this clinic.

The staff were very polite, professional and attentive. All processes were thoroughly explained and my questions were answers. I felt supported and encouraged. We are happy to say Molly our furbaby is seeing again and she running around playing like a puppy. She is 10 years old. Dr L.imbo did a wonderful job restoring her sight. Experiencia negativa: My review is very similar to another man’s, same experience: My 14 year old dog was diagnosed with cataracts. I had his cataract surgery about 2 months ago at Animal Eye Institute. As a result, he has lost vision in his right eye, and the vision in his left eye is pretty much nonexistent. THE $5000 SURGERY WAS A FAILURE AND IT TOOK ME QUESTIONING AND QUESTIONING MANY MANY TIMES TO GET THEM TO ADMIT IT AND VERBALIZE THAT FACT. So when your surgery is a failure, you are then required to make many, many costly ($200 at least each follow visits). These visits were long and horrible and the staff condescending, they do not know how to deal with upset clients. A lot of pain and discomfort for my dog and guilty feelings for me having made this poor decision. They claimed he was a good candidate for surgery, I think they just saw dollar signs. I NEVER should have had this surgery done. I HAD TO PUT CHARLEY DOWN AS A REDULT OF ALL THIS TRAUMA. Over $6000 to come to this end. Don’t get me started on the cost of all the drops, have them send your scripts to Walgreens, it’s wasaaay cheaper. BUT PEOPLE, PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS TO YOUR AGING PET, use me as an example. Absolute heartbreak.

Experiencia fantástica: My regular vet recommended The Animal Eye Institute in Cincinnati Ohio for my Cavalier King Charles because she was having issues with her eyes. Arrived today to get a diagnosis for her and was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the office and welcoming ladies behind the desk. I was greeted right away and filled out the paper work to get everything started. I was taken back at the appointed time and the tech explained what test they would be doing. She preformed all of the test and said the doctor would be in and look in her eyes. Didn’t wait very long at all and got our diagnosis. The doctor was very knowledgeable with a great bedside manner with my girl and took time to throughly explain the diagnosis and how it would be treated going forward. We have an appointment in 3 weeks for recheck to see how she is doing. Looking forward to seeing them again! Highly recommend them. ❤️

My only change would be that my veterinarian referred us weeks earlier instead of waiting 5 weeks. I highly recommend this practice!

Experiencia fantástica: I wasn't sure what to expect-I never thought I would be taking my animal to the “Doggie Ophthalmologist” -Zoey is a little high strung so I basically just prayed she didn't eat anyone before we got her contained-I made sure she had on her collar, leash and harness-when we arrived the place was ultra clean and the staff couldn't have been more patient or caring-they understood that Zoey needs to be included in conversation as well as her owner-Zoey was happy to tell them herself why she was there-I am just her driver-the staff and Dr were quick, efficient and understanding from start to finish and we all remained unscathed-they handled Zoey with care and kindness-I WILL be back and I WILL be referring to friends and family-THANK YOU!!

Experiencia negativa: BEWARE- My experience: 4/16 /25- the manager Joe yelled and screamed at me after I was upset there were no refills called in for my dog's glaucoma medications. He continuously blamed Costco saying it had to have been a keyboard error. He stated take it up with them.My first experience was, the place was extremely dirty, with hair everywhere on the scales and floors in the rooms so much to the fact that I would not put my dog down on the floor and held him.The trash can had something on the sides of it that worried me! Not only was it disgusting, I was worried that whatever it was, my dog could lick it off. I reported this to the Dr I was especially worried about the I instruments being used and whether they were sterile or not she assured me that the eye pressure instraments had caps on each changed as needed. I will add I did have to go to the Animal care center and it was immaculate. The Dr. had the manager reach out to me, who happened to be Joe, who was completely shocked and surprised! My second had to do with 2 of the 5 eye drops that my dog is on, they happen to be " compound " eye drops, Which come from a third party. They happen to leak all over the place and are extremely expensive. These compounds are demecarium and tacrolimus. I also feel that these bottles are not filled to the amount that is stated as they are not sealed. I reported this to the office manager, who once again,stated she was completely surprised!I have been getting both of these for over a year and they leak so that by the time the bottle is due for a refill,monthly, the name is completely washed off.3 of these meds, to control his eye pressure, are of utmost importance. I would like to add Tyler is missing 1 eye that he lost due to glaucoma already. I am trying to save the second I by continuing meds. If his pressure is not controlled, he has extremely bad pain.When I called Costco for these eye drops there were none called in. I had to contact AEI and request. When I tried to get an additional refill I was told there were none.I've never missed any appointments. On their original contract, it says that if you miss any appointments they will not call in a refill.The office staff had the manager Joe get on the phone who began yelling and screaming at me and acting so unprofessional I even asked him why he was lashing out at me like that. He replied because I called they're so upset and was upset with the office staff about why there were no refills. I tried to explain but he was so irate and belligerent and talked over me and did not let me get a word in edgewise. I ended up sneaking in an I'm sorry to get him to quit yelling.The bottom line was, it doesn't matter whose fault it was. My dog was not their primary concern. I've never had a problem in my 60 years and owning numerous dogs with various ailments nor experienced such aggressive behavior.One final incident, Gabapentin 100mg was ordered for eye pain. This was an adult dosage for a 16 # dog! I gave him one dose and it completely knocked him out so much that I had to continuously check to see that he was breathing! I called in the next day to inform them and they called him in a liquid and told me to give a certain dosage. which I did get the liquid but I gave him half .The main focus should have been on my dog and his care and well-being. At medvet, my dog Tyler was seen in assessed by Dr.Kuonen,At that time we discussed a procedure to deaden his remaining eye, so we had no further discomfort and pain and didn't need as many drops. This procedure was done 5-1-25, 2 days after his initial assessment.the last appt. With AEI was 1-22-25. I really hope this review helps. Bless you and your animals. The staff are extremely kind and I cannot say enough about the eye Dept. Whether or not my Tyler needed this procedure prior we will never know. Experiencia fantástica: I recently took my dog to The Animal Eye Institute because she had started bumping into things. The staff and Dr's did such a thorough eye exam. They told me in advance what the exam would cost and it was very reasonable. I was so impressed! They did find my dog is going blind. There is no cure but they were very encouraging about how I can help her adjust.
Experiencia fantástica: Our greyhound had persistent eye issue that our regular vet was unable to resolve; they referred us to the Eye Institute. I didn’t know that a vet ophthalmologist was even an option, let alone one that was right in our backyard. At every point in our visit, I was blown away by the Eye Institute’s communication, professionalism, and expertise. They carried out a thorough battery of eye tests and an extensive eye exam, patiently explained every step in the process and what they were seeing and provided the best after visit summary I have ever received (including from human physicians!). As far as price goes, they were not substantially more expensive than a regular veterinary visit that includes an examination and, in our case, a few prescriptions, which was a pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend the Animal Eye Institute to anyone whose pet needs additional intervention beyond their regular vet.

The staff were all friendly to us and attentive to our pet, highly efficient, and they gave thorough explanations of all of the proceedures. The treatment options and costs were explained clearly by the Dr., and I felt the cost of services was very reasonable. And as we left, we were sent home with a report that clearly explained the diagnoses, prognoses, and care instructions for my pet's condition., I highly recommend the Animal Eye Institute.

They provide great education, love on your fur babies and put team at ease. They provide timely follow up, great communication and I can see why our local Vets highly recommend them.
