I just wanted her to have the best quality of life she has now. The surgery was complicated due to blood loss and they did everything perfectly to minimize further loss. Now she's all healed up and running again just like she was 2. Very happy with their services and their people from top to bottom.

Experiencia fantástica: Sadly had to put my dog to sleep here, but they made it the best experience I think it could have been for what it was. They gave me time with her and they had a cart with all the "bad for dogs" treats you could ever imagine. Between the constant love, peanut butter and cosmic brownies, I know my baby's last moments were spent happy and full. If you need a good vet to take care of your pet, I would 100% recommend this place.

Experiencia negativa: Rude front office staff took my money when scheduling and I was 10 minutes late to appointment. The front office woman even stated my appointment was blocked until for 20 minutes but wouldn’t take me . She then had the audacity to ask me if I wanted to schedule another appointment! I would never take my animals to a place that doesn’t care about them. I have a six week old kitten that just needed. Her eyes looked at because they’re draining.! My recommendation is to go anywhere other than this clinic if you want to be treated with respect and have the person care about your animal!!!!

Experiencia fantástica: I had a great experience establishing care for my newly adopted 1.5 year old Golden Retriever mix. The vet assistant and vet were very kind and friendly. They took time to answer all my questions and were really great with my dog. Making my appointment online was very easy and I was seen right on time with no waiting. I'm very happy with the care I received. Vet visits aren't cheap but it's part of being a pet owner so it's great when the staff is friendly and seem to genuinely care about their patients.

Experiencia fantástica: I picked up my 11 month old puppy yesterday after she was groomed by Lauren and just like every previous grooming session she was beautiful! Lauren does a fantastic job each and every time. Hidden Valley Grooming is always welcoming and the facility is sparkling clean. 10/10 definitely would recommend Follow up review 6/21/2025 My now 14 month old pup is still being groomed by Lauren and she’s still doing a wonderful job. Everyone in grooming is great, they’re very friendly and great with their clientele. I’m a very satisfied customer. My pup is now 18 months old and she’s still getting pampered by Lauren. Missy always leaves her grooming appointment looking fabulous.

Experiencia fantástica: My puppy hadn't been feeling good for a few days. They were able to fit me in on short notice due to a cancelation. After a consultation they were able to complete a few tests at a reasonable price and let us leave with a plan that worked. Thank you guys.

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I highly recommend this veterinary office. Our cat Theo stopped eating and threw up the day before his annual appointment. Dr. May looked him over and said he looked great but to call back if he was not better by Monday. Monday evening comes around and Theo still was not eating much. We called the office and they were able to get us in the next day, Tuesday, at 0715. We both had to work but they allowed us to drop him off and pick him up after work. They ran multiple tests on him, gave him SQ fluids and anti nausea medicine. The entire day they were in contact with us via text message. We brought him home that evening and he seemed to be better. A few days went by and Theo puked again and wouldn’t eat. The vet office is so easy to get ahold of via text so we reached out with our concerns to and Dr. May responded quickly that he would prescribe some nausea pills that we could pick up at our convenience. It’s now been about a week and Theo is back to his normal playful self. We truly appreciate how nice and attentive the staff and Dr. May were.

I always feel i get the proper attention to any health concern that I have and their bed side manners are PURR-fect. Last but not least... I LOVE their reception team. Experiencia negativa: We had been with this vet for over 15 years. A few years ago the practice was sold and the quality of care has gone down. Most recently my older dog had a simple urinary tract infection. They tried numerous medications amounting in almost $400 unsuccessfully and then wanted to do a culture to see which bacteria it was so they knew which medicine to prescribe, after already spending around $350 on the other meds that didn't work. The culture should have been done first. Then, the culture was unable to give them the info they needed, so that was $250 wasted. Then they prescribed yet 2 more medications that also have not worked. All in all we have spent over $800 and my dog still has a UTI. Needless to say, I will never go back and absolutely cannot recommend this vet practice to anyone. They are either trying to scam people out of money, or are totally incompetent. Either way, steer clear of this place! Update...we have found excellent care at Old Town Vet with Dr Snyder who has decades of experience. My dog did not have a UTI at all...she did a simple urine test to determine that. It was a very simple issue that Hidden Valley overlooked and cost me hundreds of dollars unnecessarily. So my original review stands...they said they aren't trying to overcharge, so that left incompetency...the real issue. The vets there are nice enough, but very inexperienced it seems. Maybe someone else can get better care than we did. I'm sorry I waited so long to switch vets now!!!

Experiencia negativa: I had my dog neutered here five days later he swallowed real bad wasn’t getting no better. He was on antibiotics. They said continue on antibiotics while it’s getting worse and then they want to charge me 1600 more dollars when they did the new in the first place, I definitely wouldn’t recommend them at all. They needed them. They messed them up and then they went another $1600 to go and try to fix it really the emergency vet so they do it for $2000. How can you put a price on it when you don’t even know what’s wrong with him already know it’s $1600 at Emergency Vet with a 2000 then you’re way overpriced way overpriced. It sounds like a malpractice deal to me and get you in front of the board. The veterinarian board is probably what’s gonna happen because you’re not gonna take care of my dog. I’ve already tried. I’ll get to take care of somewhere Else and I’ll get you in front of the board and tell him what happened

Experiencia negativa: I requested a refill for my precious pups meds which she desperately needs. They never called me. I waited two days and called several times only to find the declined the refill and said I needed to bring her in for her annual exam… even though we’re just did that in November and it hasn’t even been a year. Meanwhile my pup is needlessly suffering because they can’t pick up a phone. They don’t care about you fur family, they just want your money. Management has changed these past two years and it’s awful.

Experiencia fantástica: I have a black shorthair cat that I fed outside. We brought him in for the winter and he did great. I wasn't sure he would act at the vet. Dr. Mays and his assistant was great. They made him feel comfortable and brought him treats. He forgot what the doctor was doing. Tested him for disease, gave him all his shots and checked him all over and received flea, ticks, heartworm and other worms. Everything was great and calmed my nerves.

I was fearing the worst and ready to make the call, but we discussed meds and how it wouldn’t be inhumane to give them a shot. My fur baby is now able to get up on her own and move around better than she has in weeks.

Experiencia fantástica: These folks take such amazing care of our pups. They took great care of our Great Dane when he got heartworm. The treatment is a LONG one with lots of steps and can be overwhelming. They took time to answer all our questions and even got the manufacturer of his heart worm preventative to pay for the treatment since he had been on it consistently saving us lots of money. We were so thankful. Since then we brought our other Dane in for a Spay, hernia fix and gastroplexy (stomach tack) all in one surgery. It was a major one and Dane surgeries can be tricky. Our girl is back up and healthy and her large incision healed perfectly. And most recently we had a dental cleaning completed. They send reminders before the appointment. Follow up after the appointments, and always come In at or even under the quoted prices for the procedures. Can’t say enough good things. If you’re looking for vet your pup look no further!

Experiencia fantástica: We have been seeing the Hidden Valley team for several years, and they have always taken great care of our pets. In the last six months, our Rottweiler needed a toe amputation and then, a few months later, we found a mass near her spleen which required imaging and diagnosis. While dealing with these issues, the team was upfront about concerns, outcomes, costs, etc and I never felt judged for our selected treatment plans. Unfortunately, recently our Rottie became lethargic and you could tell she was ready to cross the Rainbow Bridge. When I called to schedule the difficult appointment, they were kind and worked to squeeze us in on a busy Friday afternoon. Although putting an animal down is an emotionally wrecking experience, everyone at the office was so kind to us. They allowed us to take all the time we needed to say goodbye to our girl, and provided several options for us after the procedure, again without pressuring us one way or another. We have had wonderful care with everyone at the practice, but a few deserve extra praise, in my opinion. Dr. Huelsman - provided me with all the information I could ever need regarding treatment options and care. He is patient, kind, knowledgeable, and thorough. Dr. May - gave Allie the most loving and peaceful goodbye we could have ever asked for. He was so kind to us. Taja – all the techs are great, but Taja always goes out of her way to stop and say hello and check on our girls. She was not our tech on that day, but when she saw Allie in the back getting prepped for her euthanasia, she took the time to be the one who brought her back to us in the room, offering hugs and condolences. We will continue to bring our pets here and suggest them to our friends and family.

Experiencia fantástica: Ruby had the same groomer for 3 years and was in love. Our Groomer relocated to be with family and I was at a loss. We have several groomers in our area but with no former experience I was not chancing Ruby having a bad experience. My sister in law used a groomer for her dog from Hidden Valley and she was always pleased with the service. So Ruby began her journey with Rhonda and Hidden Valley. We drive from Lawson, Mo. monthly to bring Ruby to be groomed. A lot of my friends think I am crazy since there are multiple groomers closer to our area. Ruby loves the staff. I leave her knowing she will have no problems and I will be picking up a happy, beautiful dog when she is done. I am very picky about my dog and Rhonda from Hidden Valley is a perfect fit!!

My smallest chihuahua had her lung ripped outside of her 2 weeks ago when my pitbull puppy attacked her & nobody thought she would survive (except myself & the doctors who I trusted: Dr. Ervin, Dr. Boyle & Dr. May) Dedication from myself helped her recover & their amazing talent is why I still have my girl! I am so grateful for them, THANK YOU!!!!!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Brice and the Hidden Valley staff helped me back in October when my dachshund, Gracie Lou, was very sick. My own veterinary clinic wouldn't make time to see her that day. Dr. Brice sent me to the Mission Veterinary Emergency and Specialty clinic in Kansas, but nothing could be done. Gracie passed away that night, and I will forever be grateful to Hidden Valley for all their support and love that day. So when I adopted my new puppy, Annie, in December, I naturally took her to Hidden Valley and Dr. Brice. Again, they were amazing and addressed all of my new puppy's needs. Given that Annie was only 12 weeks old and needed numerous vaccinations plus spaying, I purchased Hidden Valley's Paw Plan for puppies. Based on my calculations, the plan will save me quite a bit of money over the next year. And the process was so much easier and economical than getting a commercial pet insurance plan.

Experiencia negativa: Too much money. They did not give me any discounts when they could of. I'm single and my fiance just died and I had to move. $500. For one dog and vaccinations. Rediculous

Experiencia negativa: 2 Bad experiences. Once, they charged me $80 plus meds to see my cat the day I called for his regular steroid shot for diarrhea instead of seeing us the following day with no Dr. Fee. Then the red headed vet wanted to answer my question opposed to examine my cats ears which is the second thing I ask for. For $80 I want an examination not conversation. They gave me a $65 break when I complained. 2nd problem in 6 months. I scheduled the same cat for his monthly steroid shot for diarrhea early one morning then called back that afternoon and changed the appointment to a Dr. Visit because my cat was lethargic and possibly dying. I either wanted to put the cat down (he was 25 yrs old) or give him a shot for pain and take him home to die with some pain pills. Instead Dr May told me he had a heart murmur and was dehydrated so he gave him saline, his steroid shot, solinsia shot for arthritis and picked out some matted hair. He died 6 hours after he came home. Dr. Mays diagnoses that he merely needed a steroid shot and arthritis shot and treated for dehydration was WRONG! MY FEE WAS $235. I left thinking my cat was just sick and would get better not die. They refunded $96 for a bad diagnoses when I complained, after poking, prodding, and picking at my dying cat when all he wanted was to die without pain. I'm thinking, having done this before that it would have cost $100. I would have paid any amount to give my cat an easy way out but instead I got a wrong diagnoses. To Dr. Mays credit he was very caring and concerned, just wrong. Also, there is to much technician and not near enough doctor exposure. I saw to much technician and not near enough doctor. Technician said she wanted to make a plan for the doctor. (Wrong plan) I didn't come to see some technician. This is a corporate owned clinic that hires young veterans and apparent trains also. Dr. May was able to learn from our pain, but I didn't get paid to teach. This was a HORRABLE experience. I have since started going to Noland Rd. Animal Haspital where the vets are older and extremely experienced. They're much better for half the price. I believe the right thing to do would have been to refund ALL my money and then some. This place is very much about money, and if they make a mistake, oh well.....pay anyway. I won't be letting Hidden Valley Animal Hospital learn on my animals anymore. Beware.

Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful experience. I had came in for a quality of life evaluation for Mr. Cat my 13 year old kitty who was on his 4th year battle of kidney failure. I was greeted by Linda at the front desk and she was expecting me and got us right in our room. Shorty after Dr. White came in for evaluation and was very kind and empathetic about my concerns of quality of life and she examined Mr. Cat as well as reviewing previous medical records. We talked about Mr. Cat and his current age and progression with Chronic terminal illness. I knew in my heart it was time to end palliative care. Dr. White went over the process of putting my baby to rest. Cara helped us with going over preparation of remains and answered questions I had about different cremation options as well as clinical work. We had plenty of time alone to say goodbye and love on him. When I am ready for another baby I will 100% be coming back here to do all my pet care. I wish I had came here sooner because they truly care.

I have since moved out of Independence and love about 25 minutes away. I could easily go to another vet that is closer. But instead, I chose to continue to go here and battle with traffic because everyone here is so friendly and you can tell they all love what they do.

Experiencia positiva: This is a decent vet. I’ll keep coming back here because they’re conveniently close. One thing I don’t like is the smell. Right when you walk in, it smells like you’re in a gas station bathroom. Smells kind of bad and like there’s lots of cleaner to try to mask the smell. Not sure why that is. All the other vets I’ve been to before did not smell like this.

We had been excessively charged with other vets and they were very clear on expectations and were so good with our dog. She is high strung as is and did not seem stressed in the slightest! We have found our new home clinic!

Experiencia fantástica: They have always been so amazing with my pets. My dog absolutely loves Dr. Huelsman and he’s normally not a big fan of men. They take great care of my animals and don’t charge me an arm and a leg. I highly recommend taking your pets here.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff at Hidden Valley Animal Hospital were very helpful and friendly. They were very gentle with Rocky, my Pug. He's a little timid around new people and he hates having his nails clipped and his ears messed with but they were able to take care of everything and Rocky didn't even blink when getting his shots.

Experiencia negativa: Avoid Hidden Valley Animal Hospital – A “Valley” of Poor Care Taking your pet to Hidden Valley Animal Hospital feels like taking your car to one of those shady mechanics who constantly push expensive, seemingly random “fixes” to pad the bill. The experience left me feeling frustrated, deceived, and deeply concerned for anyone trusting them with their beloved pets. 1. Price-Gouging Galore: Expect to be hit with exorbitant fees for services that are either unnecessary or grossly overpriced. They seem to take every opportunity to upsell without providing clear or honest explanations. Even basic procedures are priced far beyond what you’d find at other clinics. 2. Apathetic and Rushed Care: The staff here seem far more interested in profits than pets. Their demeanor was cold, and they showed little concern for my pet’s well-being or for answering my questions. Appointments felt rushed, leaving me wondering if my pet’s needs were even truly addressed. The only compliment I can give Hidden Valley Animal Hospital is that their name is fitting: it should truly stay hidden so unsuspecting clients can’t find it and make the mistake of trusting them. As for the “Valley,” they certainly represent a low point in the standard of care.

Experiencia fantástica: My family has taken dogs here for as long as I can remember. I took my dog in to get his shots updated and the staff got me in quick. They were really nice, helpful, and caring. I'm lucky and my dog is pretty chill and loves people. My dog makes so many things much easier but even with that, I was still blown away by how well Hidden Valley took care of us.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been very happy with every doctor my little guy has seen. He has a lot of issues and they are on top of them. The way they talk to him and treat him on top of the great medical care they give him means a lot.

Experiencia fantástica: They were so nice. And sometimes it's hard to find cat lovers but walking in there they were so nice to Ms kitty treated her how I would want anyone to treat any animal. And very quick. I didn't have to wait at all.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Huelsman Was very kind and compassionate. His empathy was absolutely profound. He was very thorough and clear on what we were to expect during our dogs healing process and signs to look for that would require closer attention.

Experiencia positiva: They are always kind and take great care of of my small dog. Love all of the vets and staff - they are very thorough and take the time answer all my questions! Minus one star for this reason: while in the waiting area, a call came in (ringing and ringing). The very kind and responsible new person was in a room with the next patient and unable to answer; however, there was another staff member who was sitting at the desk facing out the front of the building who ignored it. She was not already on a call and she wasn’t on break because she was working on something at her computer. Anyone who sits in the front should be able to answer the phone. Especially when there are people in the waiting area.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff here were all very kind and very informative. They treated our dog with kindness and we appreciate that so much. Dr May was verh informative and I'm sure our dog will actually love going back there.

Experiencia fantástica: Our sweet cat passed in the night and when I called them they said I could bring her there and they’d take care of it the cremation arrangements. I was quite emotional and they were beyond sweet and caring. The way they took care of it for me still amazes me. Everywhere else I called told me I had to take her directly there which was quite a drive. I really appreciate the kindness they showed in all ways.
