Servicios
The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: Very professional and courteous. It was busy at times but I felt that the team was keeping good track of everyone's needs. The doctors or nurses didn't try to market or pitch any extra tests or treatments that weren't necessary. Positive lab results overruled the protocol of 72-hr stay for lily exposure. Overall, Hank was happy to be home early.
Experiencia fantástica: I felt so lucky to have this facility avaiable for us. Oliver received the best medical care and so much love from all the doctors, techs and staff at AMC. The surgeon who operated on Oliver's back is the reason he can walk today.
Experiencia fantástica: I truly cannot express the sheer professionalism, camaraderie, and most importantly, empathy that I experienced. From the gentlemen at the entrance to Shaylah at reception, who thoughtfully handed me a tissue, Emily the Vet Assistant, and Dr. Keyserling, who is amazing. I walked in crying with my fur baby and left being able to breathe. They were kind and went above and beyond by contacting my vet and telling them never to give him that medication again. All of them! The whole team! Shylah, Emily, and Dr. Keyserling. I appreciated the entire team. They worked very well together, made the client feel heard, and took excellent care of my cat. Emily was kind, thorough, and reassuring. I cannot say how grateful I am for the care they gave him and the empathy they showed me. She was extremely knowledgeable, better yet. She explained it to me in a way that I could understand. Explained it to me so I understood and knew what to do in the future. My poor baby was overdosed for a teeth cleaning, not even an extraction. He was on a really bad trip for no reason.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Covo and her team provided excellent care and follow-up. I feel very thankful to work with someone who genuinely has animals' best interests at heart something that is very hard to find. Veterinary TechnicianVeterinary Assistant the neurology team and Dr Covo Mariel Covo is so kind and sweet and very knowledgeable
Experiencia fantástica: It was pretty prompt, maybe 20 min wait, and the kindness and compassion from all staff was so appreciated, especially when your 'baby' is sick. Doctor was very kind. We had previous scary incidents took us to AMC, (Groomer cut his eye), it's always scary to go to hospital for yourself or pet, but we always feel in good hands at AMC. Very kind greeting in a very stressful situation, and a big factor in our experience
Experiencia fantástica: Staff is super friendly and very kind. The level of care is the best in the country - blessed to live near the top animal hospital. All tests are done immediately and results come back super fast - I could not have had a better experience with any other vet or hospital - highly recommend. Our fantastic vet, and the tech, front desk and scheduler - all of you made it very easy for both Shanti Shaman and myself. Thank you Making getting the best healthcare for Shanti Shaman easy. Love my vet - amazing diagnostic abilities without doing unnecessary testing. She calls as soon as test results are ready - I have never had to chase her.
Experiencia negativa: I brought my dog into this place Tuesday night. She was treated for a paw infection and sent home with no antibiotic. Just a soak. Two days later, I had to take her to a hospital for treatment because she was so infected and so miserable and so uncomfortable when I told the doctor at the original hospital, your hospital what the symptoms were they didn’t even listen to me. They just said oh we’re treating her paw. I asked for antibiotic I asked for pain medicine I asked about her not going to the bathroom all these things and nothing was treated and I walked out of there paying 300 and something dollars almost $400 and then I had to do the same thing three days later somewhere else who actually treated. I am devastated with this Animal Hospital, this place is bad and strictly a vampire to the wallet. This picture is from days later.
Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been going to AMC for all my dogs’ specialist care for 15 years. My primary, local vet is used for routine checkups, but for all medical issues and surgeries, I only trust AMC. Like any human teaching hospital, I know that AMC attracts the brightest and most capable medical professionals. People complain about prices, but you do get what you pay for with all the specialty departments- I’ve now seen doctors in neurology, oncology, allergist, and surgeons. (BTW- Dr. Daniel Spector and his surgery team are the best!). The specialists are always responsive and invest a lot of time in caring for my dogs.
Experiencia fantástica: A+ Reception was friendly and efficient, remembered our names, which was a nice surprise. Dr. Hart and his team are so generous with their knowledge and time. His expert care and encouragement and guidance for post op care along with his team fielding my questions promptly and compassionately. So helpful. They negotiated the price, making two Total Hip Replacements possible for my young dog with severe hip dysplasia. Could not ask for more.
Experiencia fantástica: My cat, Bobi, went in for dental cleaning and extractions. I had a pleasant experience from check-in to discharge. Bobi was well taken care of! Thank you Dr. Riback and the dental team for taking great care of Bobi! I appreciated everyone's hard work, dedication, and care for my pet.
Experiencia fantástica: We travel from Queens any time any of my furbabies need care. Amazing staff.
Experiencia fantástica: I've always had a very great experience with the care provided to my pet, Blaze. We love Dr Christine Choe and all the staff at primary care! There are several things that I appreciate about the primary care unit: - the reception area, including the bathroom, is very clean and there is also some snacks and refreshments for clients - the reception area is also non-chaotic, which is great for dogs that get anxious during vet visits - the waiting time to see the doctor is short. They're very punctual - the doctor and vet tech are compassionate and take their time addressing all concerns - the post appointment follow up and scheduling is great
Experiencia fantástica: Warm, compassionate reception at the appointment where the doctors listened to everything I had to say about my dog's symptoms before taking him for testing. A thorough follow up after & it really felt like a whole team was working on my dog Sam & not just one person. The entire neurological team were wonderful.
Experiencia fantástica: I feel very grateful to have had Dr. Robert Moore to have examined my two parakeets. He was the nicest. He discussed the birds care with me for a long time, explaining his findings, asking me questions and answering all of my questions and helping me to put the birds on a better care path with regard to their diet. Also, both of the staff who first did the intake and the other that was present with Dr. Moore, Cam or Kim, were so very nice and helpful sharing information about feed and giving me samples to try. Thank you very much Dr. R. Moore, and the staff member who did the intake for the birds in the office, and the staff member who assisted Dr. Moore. You spent a lot of time with me. I didn't feel rushed. I felt you really cared about my birds and how well they do. It was my best avian visit experience in all the time I've had birds, and I've had birds over very many years. Dr. Moore was wonderful.
Experiencia fantástica: My experience at the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center was very pleasant and very professional and caring. I highly recommended it! Thanks AMC!
Experiencia fantástica: The team took excellent care of our dog June when she ate a lot of pain pills. Dr. Zollo and the team were amazing with June. The emergency visit was excellent.
Experiencia fantástica: Klay's care was excellent. We did not wait long for his visit (not an emergency visit) and his doctor was thorough and easy to communicate with. Special thanks for Maria Jiron for always keeping me on track with scheduling and of course, Dr Bond for putting us, including our dog, at ease Dr Bond spoke with us right away and we had a clear plan we were comfortable with .Our dog picked up on the calm atmosphere and everyone's kind demeanor and was not scared. We felt so comfortable with her expertise and in her ability to provide the best recommendations for our dog.
Experiencia fantástica: It was a great experience. The doctor explained Houdini's results in great detail and answered all of our questions. Houdini was also treated very well during his hospitalization. We truly appreciated the care the staff showed him and how Veterinarian Mary Phalen VMD called frequently to keep us informed about his progress. I believe what AMC does best is the way the doctors communicate with us. They take the time to explain how our kitty will be monitored, how they're progressing, and the different alternatives we can consider. They are very involved in each case, and when they speak about our kitties, you can truly tell that they care. I'm also very impressed with the level of expertise of the veterinary surgeons and how they walk us through the process so we feel comfortable and informed. It gives us great peace of mind knowing our kitties are in such good hands there. I believe the service that AMC provides is top-notch. The way the doctors care for our kitties, explain different alternatives and options, carefully monitor them during hospitalization, and call us regularly with updates truly couldn't be better. Everyone in the emergency service was wonderful, and the surgeons who operated on our kitties did an excellent job.
Experiencia fantástica: The care my king received was excellent and I am so grateful for the staff there … Everyone was great … The communication from the doctor was great
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing care, we were seen straight away, the doctor was amazing and explained everything to us thoroughly. He determined that our dog's injuries weren't as bad as initially thought in triage which was great as it meant less intense treatment for our dog and a lower cost for us. It makes a change from other medical establishments that push treatments unnecessarily to increase costs. He also made sure to keep us regularly updated throughout her care, explaining the extent or her injuries and treatment plan in an extremely friendly and compassionate manner. Thank you so much, we would recommend you to everyone.
Experiencia fantástica: My dog gets amazing care at each visit. Both the neurology team and internal medicine team have been so responsive and easy to work with. They explain everything to me and make sure I understand his care options. Honestly everyone I interacted with was fantastic. I've been to AMC many times with my dog for both scheduled and emergency care and I've never had a negative experience with a staff member. The neurology and internal medicine teams are very collaborative with my primary vet in coordinating my dog's care.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr Messina and the team were incredible and saved my lovely pup Keshet's life. They treated her so well and always explained me everything that was going on very calmly. Thank you!!!
Experiencia fantástica: AMC always provides an excellent level of care and service for my elderly cat with multiple chronic conditions. What I appreciate most is the time every member of the team takes to explain things. I always understand what is happening and what comes next. Jade Jeffries is awesome!
Experiencia fantástica: Really appreciated the quick process and the way the nurse heard our concerns and evaluated our dog. We loved the way the vet described what she observed and her recommended course of action. We left feeling confident and relieved. I don't remember everyone's names, but the front desk intake, vet tech and vet (Alicia) were all incredible - thank you! First, the 24/7 ER was extremely helpful to see us right away, and secondly, the vet was descriptive, articulate, and helpful Front desk ER made it easy to understand and her calmness was really helpful, especially since it was late at night and we were stressed ER visit.
Experiencia fantástica: The AMC is the Columbia, Harvard, NYU and Department of Veterans Affairs Health care system of animals. absolutely the very best in saying that the care that was provided to my Neapolitan Mastiff Blue was the very best Dr. Jordan Pieczynski who took care of Blue's surgery, his primary doctor Dr. Roswell their staff specially the staff that helped me pick a 200 plus pound mastiff and place him in the gurney the very special care for my mastiff always professional
Experiencia fantástica: Best place! Took care of my cat and very well priced! Before here I was at VERG and they try to take advantage of my sadness. Also not all employees are LVT but do LVT work
Experiencia fantástica: I'm so thankful for the team of professionals here. They treated us and our unexpectedly dying loved one (a difficult 96lb German Shepherd) with so much care and respect during the hardest few days of our lives together. Good and thoughtful communication throughout. A first class hospital experience.
Experiencia fantástica: All of the staff, including the people behind the desk were very professional, kind, caring, informative and helpful. The doctors and Vet techs were patient, answered all of my questions, and explained all of our possible outcomes. We are so lucky to have received such thorough and advanced care for our red eared slider turtle who needed surgery for a prolapse.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr Robert hart is just the best! We feel he really cares about our dog Rocket and truly gives honest and trustworthy advice. We are really grateful Rocket is in his care. Each Dr we have met really patiently addresses our concerns and questions thoroughly and with compassion. Dr. Robert Hart I would love to recognize as a surgeon who is so caring, compassionate, honest and focused on what is best for Rocket.< br />< br />Eve Taylor taking care of us in the Producers Council makes us feel really taken care of so well.< br />< br />The dental surgeon was also so kind and obvious how much he cares about our Rocket.< br />< br />Thank you to all at AMC. I really appreciate the care and the quiet service of the producers council office. Eve Taylor is wonderful. The Drs amazing. Rocket had tooth surgery and is being monitored for luxating patellas Each one I've met is amazing and caring. Dr Rocket hart and his vet tech were so kind and empathetic!! I trusted them fully because they care about what he best for Rocket. Absolutely Dr Robert hart explained why Rocket did not need to have his knee surgery and explained how he moved his knee joints in many different directions and how Rocket seemed to have no pain or discomfort.
Experiencia fantástica: Our dog Wolfie had a mass on his liver, way too tricky to remove so we drove down from MA to Dr. Weiss for an embolization. He and his team were attentive, kind, communicative and honest. Beyond the immediate team- everyone I encountered at AMC were compassionate, lighthearted and patient. I cannot recommend enough! What I appreciated most was the empathy we received from everyone we encountered. Because of the nature of the procedure there were quite a few meds- and much to monitor. The med directions were clear, helpful and patiently explained. Once we were home Wolfie seemed lethargic and admittedly I'm on high alert- Dr. Weiss and his team were kind and communicative and I cannot express how comforting that was. Wolfie is improving every day and my stress is reduced knowing I can reach out and will be responded to.
Experiencia fantástica: Just excellent all around -- everyone at Primary Care at AMC helped make our most recent visit a good experience for CeCe and me. We've been seeing people at Primary Care regularly for the past few years, and our experience during this visit was consistent with the high standard of care we have come to expect from them. To start with, the Coordinators, Jade and Ellen, made sure we had a seamless transfer of records from our neighborhood Vet . During the actual visit, the Tech was thorough in how she took all CeCe's latest info, then Dr. Choe, her Vet, provided us with an update about the exam results. CeCe is a Senior now, so the update helped me think clearly about the challenges she is facing, and ways I can make life easier for her at home. What is amazing about Primary Care is the teamwork of all concerned. Consistent care in relation to every aspect of this visit. Our prescriptions are always filled accurately with easy pick-up. As noted above, Dr. Choe provided clear guidance about CeCe's issues ( e.g. visual, cognitive ) and outlined strategies to address the impact of these on her daily life. Lab results were phoned in to me the next day, and when I had further questions about these for Dr. Choe, she got right back with an email response that answered them all. During the visit, she clearly explained different treatment options, and that helped me decide about how to handle various issues. Dr. Choe is a good listener and she provides feedback about Vet science in language that is easy for a lay person to understand.
Experiencia fantástica: The clinic saved my Havanese Coco’s life. They performed emergency surgery the night we brought her in, kept her for a few days, and she is doing very well! I am so grateful for the outstanding care she received.
Experiencia fantástica: The care was amazing and I felt confident bringing him there. Shout to the front desk team - you do amazing work. The care team - thank you for giving Momo cuddles and getting him better. To the doctors/surgeons thank you for providing realistic expectations, being clear about the possible outcomes, and your amazing bedside manners, thanks for saving Momo. He is doing so much better. What i appreciate most is how from the reception desk to the doctors every one was compassionate, patient, and communicated well with us. Thank you for saving our dog. The reception staff was so patient and attentive. They explained everything well to us and they were compassionate given the situation. The doctors were so honest and clear about the medical issues that our dog was having. They were so empathetic and allowed us to ask all the questions. The staff and doctors were so communicative and reached out when they said they would. They were so kind to our dog and I can tell they really interacted with him from their behavior. The surgeon was empathetic to our situation and took the time to talk to us. Because of their knowledge and experience we felt confident in proceeding with surgery and we're so glad we did Because it saved our dog. All the doctors that called us communicated well with us too. Momo is doing so much better ❤️
Experiencia fantástica: The team at AMC was excellent during Franklin's recent hospitalization - communicative (reliably called me 2x a day), made sure to do a review of Franklin's medical history and various health conditions, and made sure to keep him for observation to be certain it was safe to discharge. Thank you to the entire Internal Medicine Service B for their great help over the course of Franklin's 2 night hospitalization, as well as ER doctor Samantha McDonough who was incredibly skilled, kind and empathetic in treating Franklin and communicating clearly with me, when he first arrived at the hospital. In addition to the clear expertise of the staff in treating Franklin, I also appreciated how well the staff worked together. Multiple doctors were involved in his case, and they were all up to speed and communicated well with each other. Thank you
Experiencia fantástica: We were scared to be losing Ernie, our 17.5 year old chihuahua, to old age. Dr. West stopped his seizures, his heart gets checked with meds, and the physical therapy team keeps him going strong with proper nutrition and an exercise plan. We are so grateful and so is Ernie. Thank you
Experiencia fantástica: You all were wonderful. The whole radiology department, Evony, Sarah and Drs who performed procedure You were patient and understanding. I couldn’t ask for more.
Experiencia fantástica: The staff was very communicative. I truly appreciated the attention that I got on the phone when I was trying to decide to come in or not. Costs were very transparent. Dr. Murray was wonderful. I felt like both my dog and I were taken very good care of. When I first pulled up in the cab, i wasn't sure if I was in the right place. The security guard gave a friendly wave and that was so helpful in that moment, especially since it was 1AM
Experiencia fantástica: I found the staff to be kind, caring and extremely knowledgeable. Excellent communication and follow up. I'm grateful to have a facility like the Animal Medical Center nearby. Dr. Fu spent a lot of time talking to us while our dog was inpatient and for follow up. He was extremely patient and kind and happy to answer all of our questions. The vets and vet techs were all excellent
Experiencia fantástica: Misha always gets great care at AMC The vet techs who give Misha her Solensia shot once a month are all excellent and very caring. What I appreciate the most is knowing that if my senior cat has an emergency all of her records are already there and she has a caring doctor for post ER care An online portal where I could schedule directly would be a great improvement. I like having a form of payment on my account so that I don't have to fumble with my wallet when I have my cat in hand. It would be great if I could update my form of payment at an online portal and review charges there. The whole team is great and take good care of my cat Dr Choe provides great follow-up and is very knowledgeable
Experiencia fantástica: Outstanding care at the ER. I can never thank you enough. ❤️ What I appreciated most is they showed care and competence ..two vital things in a moment of urgency. Reception was on top of things. Very efficient! Presented information in a clear and concise manner. Doctor was very informative regarding the risks and spoke in a calm, concise manner, making sure I understood.
Experiencia fantástica: I am so grateful to everyone in surgical and critical care for saving my Lincoln's life. What I appreciated most is the efficiency of having him treated and full explanation of what needed to be done. I was kept apprised of every change and treatment. I knew he was getting the best care possible.
Experiencia fantástica: Every time we need to come to AMC, the care provided for our pets (2 x King Charles Cavaliers) has always been exceptional. Dr. Muller is wonderful. Our one dog gets seizures and she is always helpful and responsive, as it the rest of the team, if Dr. Muller happens to be out of the office. We greatly appreciate the effort everyone puts in to help us when we need it. What I appreciate most is how helpful/empathetic the Doctors are, as well as the fact that they follow-up immediately after visits or reply to my e-mails as needed quickly, as well.
Experiencia fantástica: We are so impressed with the professionalism and quality of care each time we go to AMC. The compassion the staff feel for pets and their owners is clear. Dr. Salviolo, who we've been seeing for a year, is a really brilliant resident and has a nice personal touch! We just met Dr. Spector, who will doing our dog's upcoming surgery -- he seems wonderful, too. Both doctors explain their thinking and actions in a way that gives us confidence in the process, and time is always made for our questions, which are answered fully and respectfully. Intake staff are friendly and helpful. And if you haven't been since the new floor for internal medicine opened, it's gorgeous. (No I was not paid for this review, I'm just really happy with them.) Also, if you're looking for a place to pass time while your pet is being seen, check out Züri coffee on 1st Ave., it's just a long enough walk away to decompress, and the coffee and pastry are delicious!
Experiencia fantástica: you guys did such a great job, everyone was professional, kind and caring. everyone from the girl we first encounter, to the Vet, and the girl who gave us the medicine instructions for our Sassy . What I appreciated most is how my Sassy was taken care of and quickly found out her problem.
Experiencia fantástica: We are grateful to the staff for their attentive and sympathetic care of us and our dog. Dr. Jordan Pieczynski is wonderful. What I appreciated most is our dog had a comfortable stay.
Experiencia fantástica: During the initial Internal Medicine consult everything was explained to me in detail including possible diagnoses, prognosis and treatment plan pending outcome of the diagnostic procedure. Mozzie was taken well care of on the day of his procedure. I was informed of his test results and treatment has been recommended and implemented. What I appreciated most is
Experiencia fantástica: It was very efficient and the doctor explained me well in details , I received a great care and of course my dog got great care and now he recovered beautifully. Thank you for the Doctors great care.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr Riback and the staff were excellent in addressing any concerns. Dr Riback was very thorough with what he was going to do and also contacted us immediately when the biopsy was out. Dr Riback! What I appreciated most is the quality of care provided to my geriatric frenchie!
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent Service. Within seconds of bringing your dog in he's treated like a critical patient. The Staff is very helpful and honest. You feel like you are in a people hospital! Upon returning home I noticed someone also cut our dog's long nails he does not let us cut ever. Just a total all around great place!
Experiencia fantástica: The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center is a top-notch animal hospital that I trust fully. Their expertise is the best. The Oncology Department is so caring and understanding and takes the time to listen and answer all questions. I would definitely recommend AMC to all animal parents.
Experiencia fantástica: The care the amc provided Kosmo was beyond outstanding. The doctors and staff were so kind and sweet to him and did an amazing job taking care of him. He got so much love and affection alongside the actual amazing state of the art medical care he needed. There is literally no where else I'd ever want to bring my animals. Check out and check in was very smooth and doctors were always available to answer any questions I might have. Everyone was very patient with me even though I was quite stressed and really made me feel at ease. Dr. Wiese took extra time to step out of a meeting and call me after Kosmo's surgery to assure me he was doing well. Zule and Joseph Bianco and Dr Cheng were so amazing and made this experience so great. They helped keep me updated and put me at ease. Zule from client services running the front desk all alone with such confidence was so impressive and amazing. What I appreciated most is that it didn't feel like Kosmo was just a patient at AMC. It felt like he was a beloved member of the family. This means so much. Kosmos care was complex. He started in ER, went to ICU, Neuro, and ended up in IR. The entire process was very seamless with the doctors communicating across departments and me having to do very minimal explanation. IR worked very diligently with me to make sure we could have an appointment that fit with our timeline, especially considering I live a good deal away from AMC. When I checked in only Zulu was at the front desk dealing with many clients but she did a great job handling everyone professionally and in a timely manner and got me and Kosmo checked in easily. Kosmo takes a lot of different meds and the dispensary spent time filling them carefully and accurately. They also let me pick up meds for my other dogs while I was there. The process was quick and easy. Check out was easy and the front desk staff went over each medication I requested to make sure I had it before leaving. I really appreciate this extra step as when I'm picking up my dogs I'm often is focused on them I can forget other things. The front desk made sure nothing was forgotten. The IR team went over with me in detail all the potential things to look out for in Kosmos recovery. It is always scary to hear these things, but they are of course important. I think the team struck a good balance of informing me of these things in a kind way where I was able to take it very seriously but also feel assured that the likelihood of these things happening was low. I received follow up for Kosmo the day after I brought him home and have continued to have check ins from the IR and Neuro team almost daily.
Experiencia negativa: A couple of days ago I had to put my dog Max to sleep and now I've made arrangements to cremate his and the hospital can't find his body. I keep calling and all I get is, "we can't find his body.". How can they just act so non chelante about it.
Experiencia negativa: I brought my 11 year old Yorkie Terrier mix named Charro to AMC on Tuesday, February 10 at 1am and later in the day at around 9pm. Charro has been in pain on and off. She ate her food. Then, I gave her Gabapentin. She threw up. I took her to AMC. Dr. Jillian Bastidas treated Charro. She performed a Point of Care Ultrasound, bloodwork, mild dehydrations, negative pancreatitis test. I was trying to figure out my finances. I first applied for Cherry and then Care Credit. Dr. Jillian Bastidas knew that. I chose Care Credit. She tried to manipulate me into admitting Charro for a $6,000 stay + services. Dr. Jillian Bastidas gave Charro fluids and Cerenia Injection (anti-vomiting medication). I was willing to pay for services that I could afford with Care Credit. Although Dr. Jillian Bastidas mentioned that Charro has an abnormal appearance in her liver and an enlarged gall bladder, she never ever mentioned possible Mucocele and that her gall blader could rupture. Dr. Jillian Bastidas discharged Charro (a toy dog) with abdominal palpitations knowing she has suffered from pain with no basic painkiller and a basic antibiotic. I was charged $1091. Later in the day, Charro was feeling down. She was in severe pain. I saw it in her face. I returned to AMC, and I saw Dr. Jillian Bastidas again. I had to instruct Dr. Jillian Bastidas to give Charro pain killers and antibiotic. She gave Charro Cerenia (anti-nausea I had to travel back to AMC and waste more money and time. I spent $291 more. Dr. Jillian Bastidas also told me Charro's bloodwork showed low white blood cells, an infection, and a temperature of 104.04. Even with humans, if someone is in pain, you give them Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Charro should not have suffered in pain for 8 hours. I am complete dissatisfied with Dr. Jillian Bastidas' negligent discharge. She is young but insecure about her diagnosis. She needed to speak to her senior team on the first visit, not the second. AMC seems to be greedy for money.
Experiencia negativa: I have taken my pets to this hospital for years, even after moving from Manhattan. But unfortunately today was the last time. My cat has been having stomach/intestinal problems on and off for the last year, and a few months ago, after a bad bout of throwing up for a couple days after she'd eat, I took her in because I was afraid of either a blockage or cancer, which my last cat died of. I took her in as an ER visit, and the vet advised an ultra sound, but unfortunately the Radiologists had already left for the day. She told me to come back in the morning and the hospital was kind enough to reimburse me for the walk - in since my cat wasn't treated. Two days ago, my cat started throwing up again and this time refused food and slept all day. I called the hospital to make an appointment for an ultra sound and, after asking me what the problem was, the "operator" told me she couldn't give me an appointment and that it had to be a walk-in ER visit. I asked her if a Radiologist would be there the next morning and she refused to answer me, and told me that an ultra sound would be decided by the Vet. I told her I understood that, but just wanted to know a Radiologist would be there if the Vet ordered one so I wouldn't have to come back again. She told me she couldn't tell me that. I drove down this morning and saw the Triage Nurse who said the symptoms sounded like an ultra sound might be in order, and I waited to see the Vet. A young man came out and took me into an exam room to take the history. He thought an ultra sound would be a good idea, and gave me a litany of possible reasons for what she's been experiencing, that an ultra sound would reveal. He took the cat and said he was going to consult with others and would come out and let me know what was decided on. He came back and told me that it was agreed that an ultra sound would be the best bet, but that ALL the radiologists were in a meeting and not only would I have to wait 5 hours to see one, there was no guarantee that, after the meeting, they wouldn't all leave for the day. He offered an X-Ray in the meantime, but said that wouldn't guarantee it would show everything that an ultra sound would, and the Vet might still order one. AND, if the Radiologists left for the day, and she had been sedated for the X-Ray, she would probably have to be hospitalized for the night. Then he said it would probably be up to $4000.+ That was the proverbial straw. The money hurt, though that's not even half of what I spent on my last Kitty to keep her alive, and I'd do it again. What pissed me off was, WHY do they say in they're canned message when I called that if it's an Emergency, take her to their 24 HOUR EMERGENCY room? Or when I talked to the "operator" she told me I had to take her in as an EMERGENCY visit? Or when they registered me, they gave me the EMERGENCY sticker? And then I paid $361.+ just to walk in...WHY do they call it an EMERGENCY room/visit and then tell me all the Radiologists are in a meeting??? And even if I wait five hours, they still might all leave for the day on top of it? I felt like I was being taken for a ride. I don't think I believe that. I'm not sure. It felt that way.
Experiencia fantástica: My Russian blue cat passed away on 2/2/26 rite beside me at home and I took her to this animal hospital and the young lady that assisted me was sooo comforting with my process when I checked in at 9pm!
Experiencia positiva: Ive been treating my cat here for a serious heart issue, but when he got constipated there was no way to contact the vet or get guidance over email or the phone. Communication and triage need to be improved. An ER visit is not ideal without an appointment time, or a chance for the receiving vet to familiarize themselves with his case.
Experiencia negativa: I was referred here by my cat’s vet because she needs surgery to get bladder stones removed. I filled out the appointment form and was told I would have to have a consult first in March before surgery. She doesn’t need a consult to see if she needs surgery. We already know she needs surgery. She already has UTD X-rays done. Also having to wait till March for a consult and then longer for a surgery is laughable. No one in their right mind would wait that long if their cat needs bladder stones removed. Yall are supposed to be the best, but the best in what?? Obviously not patient care if you’re expecting a cat to have to wait till March for a damn consult for what’s supposed to be a simple surgery. This is ridiculous. Editing to add that my cat was peeing blood and the only reason she isn’t anymore is beside she was given a round of antibiotics that are only temporarily helping. That’s why she needs surgery.
Experiencia fantástica: Our baby Rue had complications from her GDV surgery and AMC was able to get her healthy within the week. Great, friendly staff that helped treat her pneumonia, they kept us informed every step of the way. Shout out to all the staff but specially Dr.Wiles, Dr.Chamber, & Dr.Stroop; they were so courteous and had the best bedside manor
Experiencia negativa: I was referred to this hospital to evaluate if my dog needed a surgery. 3 days trying to speak to someone. Was told only way to set up appointment was through online intake form which didnt work and directed me to call in. Was told I'd get a call back after files were sent from my vet. My vet sent them over immediately but no one reviewed them or called me back. Next day I called again, was told I'd get a call back. I did, but that person gave me absolutely no information or direction but promised to call me before his shift ended at 6pm or by the next shift person. That didnt happen. I called now on 3rd day. Apparently that department doesn't work on weekends so I may get a call back on Monday. MAY! ZERO INFORMATION OR DIRECTION. However they are great at repeating to take my dog in in case of emergency. IM TRYING TO PREVENT AN EMERGENCY. I LIVE OVER TWO HOURS AWAY FROM THEM. Im hoping this is a reflection of poor management and office organization and not of their actual medical practice. But so far I have no option but to hope I eventually get my dog seen and pray that I wont get to a point of needing an emergency visit.
Experiencia fantástica: I had an extremely positive experience with the medical team. They helped me make the difficult decision to amputate my cat’s leg. The staff was very kind. Overall the surgery experience from start to finish was seamless and the communication before, during and after the procedure was outstanding. They took excellent care of Luna and she is living her best tripod life now.
Experiencia negativa: I never imagined writing this, especially about an institution where we have had only positive experiences in the past. That history makes this failure all the more shocking. We brought our dog, Dr. Watson, to the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center ER during an acute pain crisis following extensive dental surgery. He was experiencing prolonged, episodic screaming that clearly followed a pain pattern. Both we and his primary care veterinarian repeatedly raised concern that this was severe neuropathic pain, not seizures. Despite this, the attending physician quickly anchored on a seizure-based explanation and failed to meaningfully reconsider it even after: Our primary care vet spoke directly with the ER doctor twice, advocating for pain-directed care. And our specialists later confirmed the presentation was inconsistent with seizures. No meaningful pain intervention was attempted. No pain-directed CRI was offered. Instead, our dog was treated with anticonvulsants and discharged still actively symptomatic, without ever interrupting the pain cycle that caused the emergency visit. Most distressingly, we were told ON CHRISTMAS that his condition was likely due to a BRAIN TUMOR and that we should prepare for humane euthanasia. This was presented as a likely outcome, not a remote possibility, but something to prepare for as it was most likley imminent. As a direct result, my husband had to immediately leave work and run uptown on the most lucrative night of the year for his profession, resulting in lost wages while we were already facing mounting medical expenses. This diagnosis later proved to be unsupported. Additional concerns included improper handling despite IVDD precautions, failure to administer his final pain medication before discharge, missing personal items, and exorbitant charges despite no effective pain relief being provided. We asked AMC to reconsider its refusal to remit charges for this visit, given the severity of these failures. To date, they have declined. Emergency medicine is complex. But pain should be treated while diagnoses are explored, catastrophic possibilities must be communicated with care, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, owners and referring veterinarians should be treated as PARTNERS. How an institution responds to clear failure matters. If I had listened to that attending physician and kept my dog there for 3 days while they explored other possibilities, and anchored into this neurology disorder, I'd not only have a much larger bill, but the VERY REAL possibility of a dead dog in regards to them suggesting euthanasia even though they had NO EVIDENCE of a brain tumor. We invite AMC to respond publicly and explain how this aligns with the standards they promote.
Experiencia fantástica: I have a red eared slider with some symptoms that baffled 2 other veterinarians. I decided to take her here after reading about Latoya Latney, their exotic animal specialist. She's the best vet I've ever dealt with in my life! Brilliant, thorough, and extremely compassionate. She likely saved my pet's life. The whole experience here was great. Front desk staff were caring and extremely patient. Highly recommend you take your exotic babies here and nowhere else!
Experiencia negativa: Very disappointing. I have used this clinic several times, and unfortunately I had multiple unpleasant experiences. During a checkup, I was told that if medication or surgery was needed, I would receive an estimate in advance. On that day, I was clearly told the total would be $1,000, but at checkout I was charged $1,300. When I asked for an explanation, none was provided. On other occasions, my appointment date and time were changed without my consent. After a surgery, I was told the medication provided was for two weeks, but when I checked at home, there was only one week’s worth. I later returned with proof, but was told it was my fault for “using too much.” There was no apology, and I was told it was my choice whether to buy more medication — which I ended up having to do. I cannot recommend this clinic.
Experiencia negativa: Absolutely unacceptable experience. We drove over an hour from Stamford to Manhattan and arrived at 12:00 PM. It is now 6:00 PM, and we are only just leaving. We waited six hours while people who arrived after us were seen and left long before us — including cases that were clearly more urgent and more complex. There was absolutely no explanation, no communication, and no respect for our time. The most disturbing part: When they finally started handing us paperwork (after SIX HOURS), a staff member casually said, “Oh… your dog isn’t with you?” Our dog was supposed to be with them already. They forgot about him. He was left in the back for no reason, doing nothing, while we were sitting and waiting. After realizing their mistake, we still had to wait another 30 minutes just for someone to bring our dog out. — this is pure disorganization and negligence. It is New Year’s Day, and instead of being with our family, we spent six hours trapped in this clinic because staff were slow, inefficient, and completely indifferent. I lived in another country where veterinary care is faster, more organized, and more humane than this. Here, time was wasted deliberately, with no urgency and no accountability. This felt like disrespect toward both clients and animals. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone who values their time, their sanity, or their pet’s well-being. We paid $1800
Experiencia negativa: I have a dental appointment for my furry baby who is five years old and has a collapsed trachea. I was referred to AMC by my regular vet but I am not sure if to take him here now after reading all the negative comments about this place. I haven't read a negative comment about a dental procedure with a pet that has the same health problem as my pet. I am having second thoughts now if to take him or not. I was giving the pricing for his dental cleaning and I believe it is overpriced with or without extractions. I am worried that something goes wrong on the day of the dental cleaning because he will be giving anesthesia even though he has the collapsed trachea. I would appreciate if anyone can let me know if their pet had any complications during the procedure especially if they have the same condition as my furry baby.
Experiencia negativa: I waited almost 2 years to write this review just incase they were right but they weren’t they are were and always will be money sucking thieves who don’t care about the innocent life in front of them !! On feb 20th 2024 I got a puppy as a present for my birthday she is a pomsky a very excited and energetic breed the day after she came she jumped off the couch and fractured her rotating cuff and it was 2 in the morning where nothing was open so I took her to AMC which was the biggest mistake ever not only I got charged $900 for 1 X-ray and a “temporary cast” but what I experienced has no words to explain the staff there is so rude they took my puppy in and came out gave me updates every hour even tho she was the only patient there at the time I spent 4 hours just to find hear that “YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HER BEING ABNORMAL AND NOT HAVING A NORMAL LIFE” the quote I got from them was $8000-$10000 on surgery which NEEDED to be performed the same day or she would never walk again according to the SUPERVISOR there mind you I don’t mind paying I politely asked for my puppy back because she was already scheduled with another vet who she still is going to until this day as soon as I asked for my puppy back they said ok they’ll bring her out which took them 45 mins to just bring her out and between that time the supervisor came out and her exact works were “We need to do the surgery you have to leave her overnight or your dog will be abnormal for the rest of her life and you will be responsible for it “ she pushed her chair back and left without even hearing a response they finally gave her back I took her to another clinic the very morning and they got in touch with the surgeon send her X-rays and the surgeon said you did the right thing by not getting her the surgery she’s 2 months old if you agreed to the surgery and let them out plates on her elbow which is where they grow from she will have 1 leg that will not grow and she wouldn’t be able to walk let alone run if SHE GOT THE SURGERY and the dr at the new clinic put a splint a cast weekly check up and my dog is the most active playful and strong dog out of every dog in the parks we take her to she out runs anyone!!! These people just want your money even if it makes the animal a disable for the rest of their life think not twice but 100 times before going here there’s plenty more hospitals in NYC just don’t waste your time and money here !!!!!! Absolute worst
Experiencia fantástica: Our cat, Percy, our 13 year old sweet boy, as we called him, was given the greatest care recently when he was found to have cancer throughout his body. Everyone -- at the front desk, the dispensary, and of course the vets including Dr. Jennifer Huck, Dr. Joseph Belgrade, and Dr. Ezra Frager -- who was doctor who helped send Percy over the rainbow bridge on Christmas Eve -- treated him -- and us -- with the utmost care and concern. We are grateful for all they did for us and our sweet boy. The comfort room they provided our family in the ER while we waited with Percy for his final journey was also incredibly soothing. I have and will recommend the AMC to anyone in need of regular, special, or emergency care for their pet. Thank you.
Experiencia fantástica: Had one of the most difficult days of my life having to put my little Boston terrier Stanley down. The doctor that took care of us, Grace, deserves a gold star for the way she helped us through this difficult time. She really took her time with us and was honest and patient.
Experiencia positiva: This review is solely based on Saturday's experience. My baby's breath was labored and it sounded like he had a cough. I took him here hoping it was and medicine would be given. It turned out to be congestive heart failure. I understand. My little boy was 18 years old. However, the bedside manner was horrible. To you this was just another little animal, another payment, etc. To me it was my first and only baby. My companion, friend, soulmate. My dad and I came to the decision that because he was suffering, euthanasia was the humane decision. It wasn't easy. I told the vet that spokenwith me that I contacted an organization that does it at home. The appointment was for the next morning. She seemed upset and treated me as if I was making the wrong decision of not doing it right there and right away. I brought my baby home. My family came over and was able to hold him, to let him know how much we loved him. My dad got to hold his grand baby one last time. I got to hold my baby and let him know it was OK and to love him. Therefore, next time be a more compassionate. Your way would have been cold and lonely for my little boy. He deserved more and he did get it.
Experiencia fantástica: It's hard to give a 5-star review when you come home without your pet, but this was by far the most humane emergency room and loss experience I have ever had. The compassion shown from every person after we walked in that door will stay with me forever, right down to the doctor who called us with the worse news ever just giving us his first name and listening to our stories about our cat, Vicky. Thank you for making one of the worst days for our family a little warmer.
Experiencia negativa: I brought my cat Blicky to Schwarzman AMC on August 20th after she suddenly started fainting. I told them I didn’t have much money, and they assured me the tests they were running would lead to treatment. After charging me about $1,700 — leaving me with almost nothing — they told me she had an enlarged heart, fluid in her lungs, and anemia… yet still sent her home with no medication at all. Their only offer was an overnight stay for another $5,000 I couldn’t afford. Because they drained everything I had, I couldn’t take her elsewhere until my next paycheck. Bronx Veterinary was shocked she’d been released in that condition and immediately started her on Keppra. She fought, but on November 14th she had a severe seizure and passed away. I truly believe she would still be alive if Schwarzman had treated her that night. They cared more about money than my pet’s life. They cared more about money than my pet’s life. Avoid this place unless you’re wealthy — they only treat animals when it’s financially worth it to them.
Experiencia fantástica: The medical professionals at Schwarzman AMC are outstanding! We thank everyone on the entire team there for the excellent care our pets have received in their care. Recently, our young feline family member was rushed there for diagnostics that revealed a significant condition needing emergency surgery. The staff acted quickly and with empathy and within about 12 hours our little guy was already recovering from the surgery. His treatment throughout was world-class and so has been our experience of the entire team. Our kitten was home the next day and had a flawless recovery despite the significance of the procedure he'd undergone. It's now almost two months later and he's thriving as though nothing ever happened. Finally, due to their quickness and ability to perform necessary diagnostics on-site, the procedure was the least radical of the three scenarios our little one faced going in. This speed and accuracy mean the world to his well-being and ours. When you would pay anything to make them well, it's great to find a place that is reasonably priced and a team that is so good they may actually spare you heartache and expense. I cannot recommend them enough. Between our home clinic at Heart of Harlem and the AMC we know all of our family's healthcare needs are covered.
Experiencia fantástica: Wish we could give this review more than five stars! We brought in our very sick dog Trixie to the emergency room in the middle of the night and from the very first moment we were met with kindness, professionalism and warmth. Shout out to Esther the receptionist, Thai the lead nurse, and Dr. Schiff, all of whom were excellent in their roles and supported us through a very difficult, scary time. Our dog needed surgery (thank you Dr. Smith) and spent two days in the ICU unit, and during that time we received timely, clear and comprehensive updates as well as prompt responses to any questions that came up (thank you Dr. Wang). Even the discharge experience was smooth and efficient. We are forever grateful for the excellent high quality care provided.
Experiencia positiva: After wasting time and money at other area vet hospitals, we took our cat to AMC. We needed a CT scan for a diagnosis, and I wish we had gone to AMC first. Unfortunately, diagnostic testing for pets is really expensive in NYC. But Dr. Seage at AMC worked with us to lower the costs of the tests, since she was fairly certain of our cat's cancer diagnosis. Overall, our experience with AMC is that the staff was professional and compassionate. They also offer a free caregiving support group and sessions with a social worker. On our cat's last vet visit, Dr. Seage commented how resilient our cat was, since she lived for nearly two years past her diagnosis. And she sent us a heartfelt email commending us on how well we cared for our kitty, after she passed away.
Experiencia fantástica: They took amazing care of my cat in an emergency, were so kind and compassionate, and really took the time to walk us through what was happening with him and how they were treating him. We’re so grateful and couldn’t recommend them more highly.
Experiencia negativa: I drove 3 1/2 hours to this place after waiting three weeks for an appointment when I got there they took my dog. Let me sit in the waiting room for 20 minutes. They came back and told me for them to do anything would be $1400. What they were dealing with an ultrasound, a urine analysis and just a normal exam. Yes, I felt was ridiculous. Way overpriced, and the place was filthy.
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you Dr. Hart and your staff for all the kindness and support for our dog and care during and after the luxating patella surgery. Truly touched that you are such a dedicated advocate for your patients.
Experiencia fantástica: I have been to AMC twice and both times my dog received exceptional care. Everyone, from the staff at check in to the Drs were kind, caring and compassionate. I highly recommend AMC. In case of an emergency, I feel grateful knowing that there is a wonderful place close by.
Experiencia negativa: Over price. Neglect and the staffs don't care!. They treated my helpless dog and i just a number. They locked her in a acrylic box cage and she was already sick and scare without much air, food or to the bathroom. They didn't really do anything for her, except keep withdrawing her blood and x ray without my consent and charge me over thousands of dollars for the day from keep my dog there. My dog condition got much worse from all the blood work; X ray and traumatized, stress. Horrible place!! They didn't save her. After all unnecessary test, then they say is her kidney. She passed on within a very short time.
Experiencia fantástica: The Animal Medical Center saved my 12-year-old Golden Retriever’s life, and I can’t thank them enough. My regular vet had been monitoring a small mass on her spleen, and after her third ultrasound, they recommended non-urgent spleen removal. That same evening, the mass ruptured, and my dog was in severe pain, unable to move or stand. From the moment we arrived at AMC around 11 PM, the team was exceptional. They immediately evaluated my dog, confirmed the rupture, and prepared for major surgery. Post-operation, she spent three days in the ICU, and the doctors provided multiple daily updates, which kept me reassured during such a traumatic time. Visiting her was heartbreaking—she was frail, heavily medicated, and unable to walk or eat initially. Despite a few complications, the 24/7 care team addressed every issue with expertise and compassion. After, just 48 hours after coming home, she was 99% her normal self—energetic, with a strong appetite and walking normally. The professionalism, expertise, and care from the AMC team were outstanding. A special shoutout to Dr. Langfitt, who was an incredible support every step of the way. Thank you, AMC, for saving my beloved dog!
Experiencia negativa: The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC) has a low 3.7 rating on Google (Grade C) and an even lower 3.1 rating on Yelp (Grade D). My bird, who was eating and acting normally, went to AMC for a basic, non-life-threatening two-inch partial leg amputation and was killed by drugs and anesthesia. While Blackie was dying, the doctor was calling me instead of being with my bird so perhaps an intern was doing the surgery. Doctors always “bury their mistakes.” AMC is known as a “teaching hospital” so it is quite possible they were training on my bird. I find it troubling a doctor would leave his patient with cardiac arrest to make a phone call. In over 50 years I have never had a relative, friend or pet killed by anesthesia. Unlike a few years ago, there is now a rotating crew of part time vets that have a lot of patients jammed into a few days a month. The vet that killed my bird said he had other patients that morning so concentrating on the surgery wasn’t enough for him. Maybe if he focused more on my bird’s surgery, she would be alive instead of giving her back in a carboard box. What if your pet needs to come back in five days but the vet you saw won’t be back for three weeks? Too bad because now the next vet won’t read your emails and is now seeing your bird for the first time. I first brought my bird in for a fractured leg the vet said was an “old injury” with no mobility in the foot due calcification at the ankle joint. Three veterinarians kept my bird in very uncomfortable and useless bandages for five weeks in a futile attempt to “bend” this dead foot into a more normal position. With no improvement in her leg after five weeks they ran up $2000 in bills and then they were going to charge $2500 to $3500 for a non-life-threatening amputation of about two inches of my bird’s leg. I ran my bird’s blood test through AI and sent an email with questions to one of the three vets who were rotating around. But she never responded to my questions and no one else did either. I was told that antibiotics were needed because my bird has a “swollen liver” but it was never shown to me on the X-ray. The same doctor said she may have “chlamydia” but then forgot to put the order in for the antibiotics. My bird had an old injury when I found her, a fractured ankle that healed bad and cut off her tendons that control her foot. This was shown on the X-ray. But instead of telling me it will never get better (which should have been obvious from the X-ray even to an inexperienced vet) and making a quick decision to leave it alone or amputate part of the leg, my bird was forced to endure multiple and heavy bandage changes, wearing her down with drugs for five weeks before she was killed by the anesthesia. These bandage changes had to be done as a ploy for money since I can’t believe it was pure incompetence or maybe it was. One of the doctors put on a bandage that tied both legs together and said to let him out of the cage. Imagine being a bird with both legs tied together and a heavy big bandage trying to move? Even the doctor who killed her said that would never work. It sure is amateur hour at AMC and very expensive. For removing about two inches of her leg, Schwarzman Animal Medical Center was going to charge me over $6,000 including follow-up visits. They give your bird drugs without telling you and they just appear on the invoice without explanation. I had interns calling and emailing trying to make feel guilty since I was not rushing over for more futile $300 or $450 bandage changes. The doctor that killed my bird told me afterwards that there were too many bandage changes and they never would have worked. They wore my bird down, knocked her out with drugs for the X-ray, knocked her out again with drugs for another useless leg bandage change, had her on two antibiotics, made her wear useless heavy, uncomfortable bandages and then killed her with more drugs and anesthesia. I do not recommend the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center for anything.
Experiencia negativa: I typically don’t write reviews, but felt compelled in this instance. Our dog had some GI issues and needed a specialist (non-emergency review). My wife and I had some scheduling issues as we both have busy jobs. Whenever we would try to call during the week, no one would pick up. For every three to four emails that we would send, they might reply back with the next time that they had available - maybe another month or month and a half later. They might be good at what they do, but if we can’t get in to appreciate the services (or only at their availability/whim once in a blue moon), it probably isn’t worth it. Maybe this facility is better for emergencies…
Hi Daniel, we're very sorry to hear about your experience trying to schedule an appointment for your dog. We’d appreciate the opportunity to look into this further and see how we can help. You can reach our Client Services leadership directly at [email protected], who can assist you personally.
Thank you for sharing your feedback.
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you Dr. Brisman and the rest of the team at the ER, ICU & Internal Medicine! Brought my dog into the ER Friday night and had to admit him with an unknown condition. The scariest / worst night of my life - I didn't think my boy would make it through the night. I left the ER confused with no answers (after an inconclusive x-ray) but was told my dog was in good hands. He was transferred to internal medicine and I got a call first thing in the morning (after a sleepless night) with an update from a very attentive, caring & concerned nurse. They suspected my dog had ingested an anticoagulant rat poison. If you have curious dogs who like to eat things off the street, please be aware of this! Dr. Brisman called us every morning & night and sometimes in the afternoon with any pressing news or updates. She made us feel so secure during such an awful and uncertain time. She was so knowledgeable and patient with all of our questions. I can't speak highly enough. YES - they are expensive, ALL animal hospitals are. This is the only place of it's kind in New York City, if your pet is having a truly life threatening emergency don't make the mistake of trying to go to smaller places first. Skip it and just come here. I see a lot of reviews complaining about the prices of things. They offer financial aid to those who need it but please, everyone, get pet insurance! You never know when something like this can happen to your very healthy, active & young dog. Emergency vet bills can easily reach the thousands and it's better to be safe than sorry. All in all, just sharing my utmost gratitude for this place and the people who work there and treat our animals like their own. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Hi Michele, thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience and kind words. We’re thrilled to hear that your dog is doing better and that Dr. Brisman and our ER, ICU, and Internal Medicine teams were able to provide the care and reassurance you needed during such a frightening time.
Experiencia negativa: I brought my senior guinea pig to AMC’s Exotics Department on referral from our trusted primary vet for a potential molar trim. What I experienced was one of the most distressing, unprofessional vet visits I’ve ever had. Despite arriving on time, I waited nearly 45 minutes before being seen. During the physical exam, a vet squeezed and manipulated my guinea pig’s sebaceous cyst without my consent — something that could’ve caused infection or pain. I was not informed or asked for permission before this was done. From the start, the vets immediately painted my pet as “extremely sick,” contradicting recent evaluations by two other specialists. They insisted my other guinea pig must be “bullying her” and claimed the cyst was the result of a bite wound — despite clear history (from another hospital) that it had been surgically opened to connect two smaller cysts and drained accordingly. Their conclusions were not only unfounded, but felt rooted in assumption, not observation. They refused to perform the dental trim — the entire reason for the appointment — unless I paid for additional diagnostics, despite my pet already being cleared for anesthesia elsewhere. Then came the most alarming part: they pressured me to approve penicillin injections, which any exotic-savvy vet knows are extremely dangerous for guinea pigs and can cause fatal GI issues. When I declined, they suggested giving her opioids, which again felt wildly inappropriate and excessive. I only approved basic bloodwork, which I received later that same day — and without imaging, without any further diagnostics, I was told my guinea pig has cancer outright. That statement was based on mildly abnormal bloodwork and has since been contradicted by multiple professionals. The entire visit felt like fear-mongering designed to push more testing, more procedures, and more charges. Oh — and the bill for this traumatizing appointment? Over $550. This experience shattered my trust. I walked in with a stable, carefully monitored pet and left with nothing but stress, confusion, and gut-wrenching regret. I would not recommend AMC’s exotics department to anyone

Experiencia negativa: Very disappointed with AMC Animal Hospital. I rushed in with my pet rat after my regular vet called ahead to confirm they treat rats. AMC took her in immediately, discussed pricing up to $2,000, and charged me a $400 emergency fee — only to come back 10 minutes later saying their exotic vet wasn’t even there that day. They handed me a list of other clinics to call, and when I contacted Avian & Exotic Animals, they agreed to take us in right away. Instead of refunding the emergency fee, the AMC doctor offered to give my pet medication so the charge would still count, then later offered transportation to the other clinic so they could keep the fee. I declined both. They eventually voided the payment, but the lack of honesty and professionalism during an emergency was unacceptable.
Hi Elle, we're very sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with your visit to AMC. If there's anything you'd like to share with our leadership team, please email us at [email protected] so we can follow up with you personally. Thank you.
Experiencia negativa: BIRD OWNERS, PLEASE READ: It took me a whole year to write this because this hospital almost cost my beloved cockatiel’s life. In October 2024, I brought her to AMC for mild vomiting. The vet insisted she was critically ill and needed hospitalization. I trusted their judgment—she was kept for 4 days, heavily medicated with morphine, given X-rays, and looked worse each time I visited. They repeatedly called saying her heart might stop and tried to convince me to euthanize her, even promoting cremation options. I refused, took her home, and today—one year later—she is completely healthy. Her condition had worsened only because of their mistreatment. I spent over $2,500 on unnecessary procedures and emotional trauma. The so-called “avian specialists” here care more about money than the well-being of your bird. Bird owners, please stay away from this place. (Attached photo: my bird during hospitalization—soaked, stressed, and suffering.)
Experiencia fantástica: I cannot recommend AMC Hospital highly enough. They are a team of truly caring and passionate professionals who put their hearts and souls into their work. From routine check-ups to emergency treatments, the staff at AMC consistently show genuine empathy; not only for the animals they care for but also for the pet owners navigating stressful moments. You can truly feel the dedication they have for animal health and well-being the moment you walk through their doors.
Thank you, Sophia, for your kind words and recommendation. We’re truly grateful for your trust and so glad to hear that you’ve felt supported by our team during both routine visits and more stressful moments.
Experiencia fantástica: Can not recommend AMC enough. Eileen Saege is a fantastic veterinarian, and surprisingly, they actually have some employees with people skills - A rarity in my experience in this setting. My cat has made a wonderful turnaround, facilitated by the staff here being communicative and compassionate. Thank you to the entire internal medicine team from me and Breadsticks!
Experiencia negativa: I came into the ER with an emergency for my dog. Bella the front desk attendant has such an attitude. She’s been doing that job for too long. She has no sense of customer service and I felt like I was online at a McDonald’s. It suck’s when a hospital is so amazing but the staff brings down the reputation and discredits all the hard and good work other staff members do. Just a low quality human being.
Experiencia fantástica: I just want to take a moment to thank the amazing receptionist Esther and DMV Saunders who helped me during a really scary emergency with my Frankie. I was completely overwhelmed and terrified, but the receptionist was so kind, calm, and understanding from the very first moment. She truly went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of right away, and her compassion meant more to me than I can put into words. The doctor was just as wonderful — gentle, patient, and so caring with my pet. They both treated us with such empathy and made a very stressful situation feel a little more manageable. It was clear that they both genuinely cared, not just about my pet’s health but also about me as a worried pet parent. Thank you both so much for your kindness, patience, and compassion. I’ll never forget how supported and cared for I felt that day.
Experiencia negativa: If there was an option to leave no stars and only comment, I would. That’s how HORRIBLE my experience was here. My 7 week-old puppy had a tragic accident, and instead of trying to save him, the very first thing they offered was to euthanize him. They didn’t even attempt to help there was no compassion, no care, just a push to put him down. It was extremely clear my puppy was still fighting and was NOT going to pass away unless they forced it. The vet who euthanized him was completely inhumane and lacked any shred of empathy. As I was crying over my puppy, she actually said to me: “This is what happens when dogs are bred.” Who says something like that in such a devastating moment? Even worse, when I begged her to stop and told her I wanted to take my puppy home to seek help at another hospital, she ignored me and euthanized him anyway. My wishes as his owner meant nothing to her. This experience was traumatizing, cruel, and completely unacceptable. No one should ever have to go through what I went through at this place.
Experiencia fantástica: There are truly no words that can encompass the amount of gratitude I have for this establishment!!! Recently, someone dear to me had to take his puppy to the Schwarzman ER. He was very close to dying. The doctor stated had he not been brought in he would had died. As soon as we got there they rushed him, literally, the attendant ran to the back to have him seen immediately!! Soon thereafter the doctor (unfortunately dont have her name ) came out and explained the state Lobo was in. He ended up being admitted to the I.C.U. and was there for 2 days. The communication provided by the attending doctors was above and beyond. The care and attention given to Lobo was superb!!! There are truly no words to express how thankful we are for everything and to everyone that treated Lobo! Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff for your love, care and attention. May God bless each and every one of you! And may you and your families receive ten-fold the love and care you gave. Lobo thanks you
Experiencia negativa: I am heartbroken and outraged at the way my brother and his cat were treated here. He spent all of his savings on expensive tests, desperately trying to save his pet. After draining every dollar he had, the hospital told him more tests were needed—and because he couldn’t afford them, his cat died. There was no compassion, no sympathy, no kindness shown toward him or the animal. This is not just unethical, it feels illegal to withhold care unless more money is paid. We will be reporting this to the state veterinary board and consumer protection agencies. No family should ever be forced into financial ruin only to lose their beloved pet in such a cold and heartless way. This place should get closed down ! These types of establishments should not be in care of anything or anyone is disrespectful and disgusting!
Experiencia negativa: DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE. If you want your pet to live, don’t. We brought my bunny here who we knew was in GI stasis going downhill and another vet took his temperature and told us it was urgent to get him in with a doctor and suggested we come here (since they didn’t specialize in bunnies). They were cold and took him for a whole two hours just to tell us he seemed fine enough and that he had a bloated stomach. She then said we could take him home and has now left us waiting to get him in the lobby for another 30 minutes… still waiting. Not sure why they can’t just bring me my bunny back. I think they are trying to kill him. He is stressed and alone and they told me I could bring him home but are nowhere to be seen. Completely unacceptable.
Experiencia negativa: This review is specifically for Dr. Van Der Woerdt (Opthamology) who, from my pet’s visit with her, has proven to be a terrible diagnostician and certainly NOT WORTH a $400+ consultation. Seek a different eye specialist for your furry loved one if you’re looking for attentive knowledgeable care.
Experiencia fantástica: This is the place you want to bring your animals in an emergency or when you need an accurate diagnosis. They are truly outstanding. Thank you for the incredible care you gave to Lyla! I’ll never forget your professionalism, compassion, attention to detail, and the swift action you took for the dog who means the world to me. She’s the love of my life, and knowing she was in your hands gave me so much peace. To all pet owners: if you want the absolute best care for your animals, this is where to go.
Experiencia negativa: Took my guinea pig here for what should have been a simple tooth trim and it was honestly the worst vet experience I’ve ever had. Instead of focusing on the tooth issue, the vet told me she was in “terrible shape,” had a heart murmur, and that her ovarian cyst was “the size of a golf ball.” Just a few weeks ago another exotic vet checked her and said she was healthy, and her cyst was pebble-sized with no weight changes since. What really upset me was that the vet squeezed her sebaceous cyst with her hands until pus came out without even asking me first. Then they suggested injectable penicillin for it — something that can literally kill guinea pigs. I couldn’t believe it. The whole appointment felt like scare tactics and pushing risky treatments instead of real care. I left feeling upset, pressured, and like they cared more about money than my pet’s actual health. If you have an exotic pet, I would not recommend bringing them here. Please find another clinic that actually has your animal’s best interest in mind.
Experiencia fantástica: Our dog had an incredibly tricky fungal infection that took multiple procedures. Dr. Elizabeth Appleman was truly the most amazing doctor and was constantly researching and figuring out how best to take care of our dog and his tricky case. She never gave up, was so communicative and made us feel at ease every step of the way with our pup Tuxedo. I couldn’t have asked for better care for our boy and we are so lucky we had her to guide us.
Experiencia fantástica: Our dog Ollie (a Bichon) was diagnosed with ectopic ureters nearly 8 yrs ago. This disorder causes an animal to constantly leak urine. If untreated, most dogs wl suffer from constact urinary tract infections and need to be put down. He was only 6 months old when we discovered, thru numerous examinations and ct scans, what this diagnosis meant for him. We live in Dallas, Tx. At that time, we looked around for a vet to treat him here. No vet in Dallas offered a cytoscopic, laser ablation surgery to repair this disorder. This procedure is a much more non-invasive, and less risky surgery than the old school operation which basically opens the dog up, and puts the dog's life at risk. We then took him 3 hrs south to Texas A&M university, which has an amazing vet hospital. They cldn't offer the procedure either. That led us to do online research and find out that Dr. Alyson Berent of Animal Medical Center Nyc is the nation's specialist in this disorder and how to repair it using the cytoscopic laser ablation method. We traveled up to Nyc and she successfully repaired our baby Ollie. From the day of the surgery to now, he has never leaked urine. He potties exactly as he shld, and lives life as though he never had the disorder. We are eternally grateful to have found Dr. Alyson Berent and the Animal Medical Center Nyc. They will always hold a special place in our hearts for giving us these eight precious yrs, (and hopefully many more to come), with our beautiful Ollie Bear. A pic from yesterday.
Experiencia fantástica: My dog and I had a wonderful experience at Schwarzman Animal Medical Center. Even though having to rush to the ER is horrible, my pet was handled with such care by everyone and they saved his life and stabilized him. I was treated very kindly by all staff I encountered as well. They are very transparent with pricing, and I was given a low and high end estimate before paying. I feel like they are honest with determining treatments needed and the price estimates are quite accurate; my dog’s stay ended up being a bit lower than the low end estimate. Dr. Stone and Dr. Zalewski were very patient and thorough with explaining my dog’s diagnosis, giving updates and discharge info, and answering all my questions. I never felt rushed during the process. I would highly recommend Schwarzman for emergencies. Hopefully we never need to come here again, but if needed, this will be our ER.
