Experiencia fantástica: Recently I brought my 16 year old cat in to be seen. I can’t thank the overnight staff enough for their kindness and help with our situation. They explained all possible levels of treatment, and were understanding and compassionate with us as we chose the course of action best for our little guy. I definitely recommend this place. They are affordable as well. Thank you again to the midnight shift crew for everything! Our little guy is doing better today, and a tad sleepy ❤️

Experiencia fantástica: Staff was very friendly. We did have a long wait but our case was not a top priority in triage and that was understandable. The doctor explained everything well and also gave us options. She also gave us estimates of the cost at med vet vs cost at our own vet. This was so very helpful and appreciated. The only thing I didn’t like was that they take your pet from you to get vitals and again for exam. I’m sure they have good reasons for doing this but I wish we had that as an option. Still overall a great service and costs explained upfront.

Experiencia fantástica: We live over an hour away and had to rush our dog here for an emergency on a Saturday morning. He ended up not making it (to absolutely no fault of the vet), but every last person at Medvet was amazing. They helped us through what ended up being one of the worst days I've had in decades. They were professional and compassionate, above all. I hope to never have to visit them again, but if I do, I know we'll be in good hands.

Experiencia negativa: This place is absolutely horrible. All they wanted to do was charge the most they could without even touching my dog. She was in the emergency there the night before this second appt, they gave me meds and asked me to give them to her two hours before the appt w IM the next morning so she is sedated. When we got there they put us in a room, my dog just laid on the floor sedated from the meds and the vet came in and didnt even touch or look at her. He was too busy staring me down, then after I GAVE him all the information of what was going on with her, he was done and left the room. He never looked at or touched my dog. He then sent his med tech in to tell me he has to sedate my dog to have a look at her bottom for an additional $600. What the hell is wrong with people? My dog was lying on the floor not moving with blood coming out of her rectum. He refused to do anything, not even look at her until he charged me another $600 to sedate her and she would of had to have cpr to bring her back. She was already out of it. They then charged me for a vet visit that i have disputed since. Then the vet to cover up that he didnt do anything, sent me an email offering me to come back in without a vet charge visit and i can drop off my dog for the day. Hell noooooo. Im not leaving my pet with them. They are not there for your animals, they are there to charge you as much as possible and all about the money. Save your precious pets and go to Metro instead. They are upfront with you and are not about the money as is this place. Never again. They also keep their ratings/ reviews up due to sifting out the bad ones so no-one can see.

In emergency and specialty medicine, additional sedation can sometimes be recommended to allow a safe, thorough exam and diagnostics—both for the patient’s comfort and to help the doctor accurately assess what’s happening—so those recommendations are made with safety and medical necessity in mind. Experiencia fantástica: I brought my dog in to have an urgent ear infection addressed and every single staff member, vet tech and veterinarian we interacted with was excellent and professional. I was very nervous to leave him for the day but they were so reassuring throughout the whole process and very kind when I called to check in. Emergency vet care is never cheap but our experience here was worth every penny.

Experiencia fantástica: We are in the Boardman area and went to the Akron location. We were able to drive up, get seen, and be on our way home before our vet could “squeeze” us in. Thank goodness for Medvet. They are very knowledgeable, great with our difficult boy, and explain everything so thoroughly. Our boy has cushings and had pancreatitis in June 2025. When he started feeling ill, we were so worried it could be another bout of pancreatitis, so being seen timely was critical for us. Top notch care for your pet!

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my Rottweiler into this facility around 5am due to an ear infection. Staff and medical team were super helpful, Oso got see within 10 minutes and received great treatment and medication for his illness. He’s feeling much better and I’m very grateful to have a Vet to see him during our visit to Akron!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Callard and his team were amazing in treating my 5 year old yellow lab for an oral tumor. She ended up having a right maxillectomy with lymph node removal. From start to finish she was taken such great care of and I can’t say enough how cared for we both felt . Dr. Callard was the only doctor I could find who would do removal and he reassured me that dogs can recover and live normal lives after this with great quality. He explained everything in detail and showed he truly cared for my pet. That impression will last a lifetime. I cannot thank Dr. Callard & Med Vet enough for taking care of our sweet girl and giving her a chance and healing and many years ahead.

Experiencia negativa: Desk staff was friendly.We were one of the first there and waited almost five hours to be seen. Nobody was there when we got there.two couples came after us with there pets and then started filling up.Finally got a room. Vet gave us bad news but then don’t believe the news we were told because when the lady vet left our room we heard her tell the couple in the next room the exact same thing like a recording.Seems to me in it to lie to people and make money.I will not return or recommend this place. Not looking to help people’s pets just take people’s money and waste their time.
Carrie, we can hear how frustrating that visit felt, especially after arriving early and then waiting several hours. When your pet isn’t well, every minute feels heavy, and we understand how upsetting that experience must have been.
As an emergency and specialty hospital, we operate on a triage system. That means pets are seen based on the severity and urgency of their condition—not necessarily in the order they arrive or based on how full the lobby appears. In addition to patients coming through the front door, our doctors and technicians are continuously caring for critically ill and hospitalized patients in the treatment area. If a life-threatening emergency comes in, or if a hospitalized patient takes a sudden turn, wait times can be impacted regardless of what the lobby looks like. We’re sorry if that wasn’t clearly explained during your visit.
We’re also concerned to hear that you felt the information shared with you wasn’t genuine. Our doctors have many difficult conversations, and while similar conditions can sometimes require similar explanations, each discussion is specific to the individual patient in front of them. You deserve to feel confident in the diagnosis and recommendations provided.

Experiencia fantástica: Our 13 year old cat had a blocked ureter and needed immediate treatment. Med Vet kept our cat and treated him with a catheter and IV fluids for several days. The doctors and staff kept us well informed and he seems MUCH better today. I’d definitely recommend Med Vet to anyone needing emergency care for their pet.

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I brought our bully puppy and because he was dying it was very scary. They helped us. They were nice to us. They were very in tune with our puppy. They explained pricing medicines. We took him about 12 at night. The nurse is there and the staff that works at night shift on. February 9 we’re very nice understanding and helpful. I do recommend this place. They’re very hands-on and very caring. Unlike other vets I’ve ever been to. They were very good people.

Experiencia fantástica: I was referred to MedVet, oncology, by the vet I take my dog to for his wellness checks. My dog has a mass on his liver along with other issues so we came here for further testing/treatment and so far I've been extremely pleased. The nurses are nice and have been great with him, the vet was very detailed in her explanations, gave me several possible options for treatment, thoroughly explained the next steps, what to expect, and what to look out for. The vet was also empathetic and answered any questions I had. It has been very difficult since finding out and it's a relief I don't have to worry about taking him here, I know he's in good hands and will be treated well.

Experiencia fantástica: My son and I drove an hour to MedVet in Akron to help our very sick dog, Milo. I had called ahead to explain what was going on, and from the moment we arrived, the staff acted quickly and with such kindness. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and courteous. Milo was taken back to triage immediately, and we were not left sitting in the waiting room for hours. He was evaluated promptly, and we were soon brought into a room to speak with the veterinarian. Unfortunately, given that Milo was 15 years old and had been diagnosed with diabetes over two years ago, we made the heartbreaking decision to euthanize him. We chose to be present with him during this difficult time. The veterinarian and staff were truly amazing—so compassionate, understanding, and respectful—and they made an incredibly painful situation as comfortable and peaceful as possible. We chose cremation, and they handled all of the arrangements, which lifted a huge burden during such an emotional moment. While this was not the outcome we hoped for, it was one we sadly expected. The hour drive was absolutely worth it for the level of care, professionalism, and compassion we received. Thank you for making one of the hardest moments of our lives a little easier

Experiencia fantástica: I took in a very ill cat. Her name was Marie. She'd had her teeth cleaned two weeks prior and never recovered after anesthesia. She would drink water but not eat at all. We were seen very quickly, and the Dr. was in to talk with me in less than thirty minutes. Marie received fluids, a nausea shot, an antibiotic shot and medication to stimulate her appetite. I felt the Dr was thorough, she explained everything very well and she didn't pressure me. I also felt she did everything possible for Marie to give her the best chance of survival. Marie ended up not surviving, but I knew she was well cared for and was given every chance.

Experiencia positiva: I understand the emergency room and highest acuity get seen first. We weren’t triaged for over an hour and urinary issues in cats is a big deal that can go south rather quickly for them. So they triage the cat and bring them back to the waiting room where we wait for another 3.5hrs to get called into a room for the vet to come in and not really want to do a urinalysis and was trying to base treatment off past tests like no please test the urine. They said “okay shouldn’t take more than 30mins to run”. It was over hour long wait to get the results. Then we had to discuss treatment, they didn’t even want to give subQ fluids i pretty much had to ask them too because she wasn’t going to go home and eat and drink like normal it was 1am at this point… just an extremely long wait 5hrs for urine test and subQ fluids I gave the antibiotics and pain meds at home.

Experiencia fantástica: It has taken me some time to write this review but December 20th 2025 my best boy in the whole entire world Charlie had a Medical emergency, My fiancé and I ran him straight to MedVet and they were absolutely on top of everything for our Charlie boy. Charlie was only 2 and they knew how much he meant to us and our whole family. They discovered Charlie had a very serious and very dangerous medical issue and his chances were slim to none, I knew I couldn’t be selfish in this decision at all and the staff that MedVet has is honestly Angels sent from God himself, the whole entire staff that night made saying goodbye to my Charlie boy so much better, I’m still not okay from this and miss him every single day but I know he’s in puppy heaven waiting for me at the rainbow bridge. The care and compassion these people have is rare and I would recommend them to anyone and trust them 100% again. Experiencia negativa: DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE !!!! Biggest mistake going to closest emergency vet. I brought my dog in who ate something that effected her. . I was told the office visit was 168. I was ok with that to figure out what was wrong and what it would cost to help her. Some girl with purple hair and piercings everywhere was giving me this story about how I needed to sign a paper and give them 575$ to check her vitals and make her confortable. Seems everyone daid and everything i read they knew what the problem was. The girl wouldn't even look me in the eye, very shady. I didnt trust her. Some other younger doctor or I guess was a vet, told me it would be way more that 575 . The goal at this vet is for you to pay 575-1,000.. I asked about having her throw up what she ate. She said that wouldn't work, but thats was was suggested online. It wasn't poison she ate is was lunch meat. This place is about money, not helping your animal. These people look at your dog as a dollar sign, not a beloved pet. DO NOT COME HERE...

Experiencia negativa: Please do not go here. I spent a total of 6+ hours waiting to figure out what was wrong with my cat. I brought my cat in who was urinating blood. This is considered a second priority in their “triage”. After waiting 3 hours, they finally took him back to get his “vitals”. They looked at him for 5 minutes and brought him back to us in the waiting room, where we sat for another almost 2 hours before getting into an exam room. The “vet” then took a history on him for about 10 minutes and then proceeded to state that he would need a urinalysis to test for a UTI. We then waited another hour, where I then stopped a tech who was walking outside and asked when my cat would be seen. He stated that “there was a more critical patient ahead of mine, who warranted more attention”, I stated “that’s so funny, because bladder infections/urinary tract issues in male cats can become fatal if not treated in a timely manner”. It wasn’t no more than 10 minutes after that he came in to get my cat to do the urinalysis. I then proceeded to wait another hour to get my cat back and for someone to come in and discuss with me what was found from the urinalysis. Unless you want to spend your entire day/night here and all your money out of your checking account, I can honestly say that anywhere else would probably be better. I wish I had done better by my cat and read the reviews first before taking him here from what I (and the internet) felt warranted an emergency, just to wait around like livestock. Unfortunately, when you feel something is an emergency, you do not think about needing to read google reviews beforehand. You trust that these people will have your and your animals best interest at heart, which these people do not. I also want to offer my deepest apologies to the others who have lost their beloved pets due to this facilities negligence. The “vet” then let me know that they couldn’t tell if he had a UTI due to the amount of blood that was found in his urine. They stated that this could be due to either a UTI or possible tumors, in which they could run more diagnostics on. Let me tell you, trying to use scare tactics on your patients to get more money out of them is low. My cat had bloodwork previously done in June, that in no way whatsoever indicated the presence of tumors, neither did the physical examination that was done on him just last week from our regular vet. In the end, I wasted over 6 hours and $400 for an “exam”, urinalysis that showed absolutely nothing, and medication that is just meant to hold my cat over until I can get in with someone who cares about his health and isn’t trying to run my pockets.

We bought her in and they moved very quickly. The Dr was extremely professional and caring as well as the techs. Experiencia negativa: I brought my dog here for an MRI after receiving a misdiagnosis from our primary vet of degenerative disc disease. Dr. Provencher called me to discuss the results and said she didn't see a nerve root tumor but suspected it and recommended amputating my dog's leg. I had to ask if there was a more conservative route of care to take, and she begrudgingly told me we could medicate and observe. I was floored by her suggestion and immediately sought out a THIRD opinion. Thankfully I found a highly recommended orthopedic vet in Columbus (Dr. Harrison!) which I drove 2.5 hours to, to have my dog assessed. He diagnosed her in less than 30 seconds with what I also suspected was her ACL. Did surgery the next week and she's been perfectly sound ever since. I would give zero stars for this establishment except that Dr. Callard is absolutely worth going to for orthopedics and surgery. Literally carrying the whole team.

Experiencia negativa: Had to wait 45 minutes at 3am even though nobody else was there. They know you are walking in here willing to do or pay anything for your hurting fur baby and will charge you $350-$400 minimum for a 10 minute assessment, after which they will strap an e-cone on your dog and basically tell you that you need to consult an expert the next morning ASAP. My dog had an eye issue and they told me to come the next day to see their ophthalmologist where they were going to charge me the same amount again and then also had the nerve to tell me even if I show up their ophthalmologist might not have time to see me. They purposely neglected to tell me there are pet ophthalmologists in Akron & elsewhere because they want to keep the business for themselves. Thank God for the Internet, where I googled and found an eye expert who could actually treat my dog. Unless your pet is really hurting, do not go here and just make an appointment for whatever issue that they might be having with a specialist. The vet seemed overwhelmed and flustered while the vet techs and receptionists were subdued and rude like they hated their lives because they surely do. This place was bought out by private equity known to overwork and underpay and want to wring every dollar out of terrified pet parents.

Experiencia fantástica: Although we were there for awhile due to critical emergencies out of anyone’s control, the staff were all AMAZING. My dog is very reactive. From the start we were brought in through a side door and taken straight to a room to avoid any issues. The tech was phenomenal and made sure not to stress him out before the veterinarian was able to see him. They recommended sedation to complete all the tests with minimal anxiety or fear from him. They were gentle and kind through the entire process. The veterinarian was very thorough in explaining the tests, results, and medications we took home. My guy is on the mend and my dog momma heart couldn’t be happier with our experience.

Experiencia fantástica: Medvet knew exactly what to do to help my dog! Overall I am happy with the service that we both received. All the nurses and doctors were so kind! My dog had to stay in the hospital for 2 nights but she came back to me feeling great and showing so much improvement. I have a German Shepherd that’s almost 7 years old and has been diagnosed with Megaesophagus since she was a puppy. We came into MedVet recently due to her having aspiration pneumonia in both lungs. The doctors knew exactly how to care for her and took everything into account. I could tell my dog enjoyed her stay with them while she was getting better! I would highly recommend MedVet!!

Experiencia positiva: I had to take my dog in on a Sunday to an emergency vet appointment. The wait time was kinda long with the amount of patients that were there and I feel the prices could've been a little less. The staff was great with my pet and very thorough with their treatment. If you have an emergency with your pet I would recommend them. Just be prepared to pay for the emergency treatment and wait to be seen.

Experiencia fantástica: I had to take my 8yo beagle Bassett mix in because he was struggling to breathe. He ended up being treated for pneumonia, double ear infection, a UTI, and inflammation in his belly. I was absolutely terrified and a mess. The staff was so kind and caring, to me and my boy. My only complaint is pricing, I know it's an ER, but man, it's still quite a bill. But I'm not going to complain, they saved my dog. He's doing a lot better. Thank you so much for being so kind to me and my fur baby. The vet even clipped his nails, which were in desperate need of trimming, she did that while he was sedated. I appreciate you guys for everything!

Experiencia negativa: Waiting 5 hours is not an emergency clinic. Would not recommend unless your pet is dying and you have no other options. Maybe instead of 4 and 5 staff at the counter they could have additional veterinary staff! Finally saw the vet she was very nice and techs were good. Just too long to wait 7 hours total

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my puppy in twice last week for urgent medical care. The first time was in the early hours of the morning and they immediately took his vitals to ensure he could stay with me while we waited for the vet. The first vet we saw was great and really listened to everything we had to say about what our pup was going through. The vet thoroughly explained what our puppy was being treated for and we were sent home with medications. After a few hours at home, our puppy continued to get worse (not by fault of the medication - just natural progression of the issue). We took him back in and once again the vets took excellent care of him, listened to our concerns, and gave a detailed explanation of treatment options and cost estimates. He had to be hospitalized there overnight, but the doctor gave me a call in the evening to let me know the results of further tests and give an update on how he was doing. I continued to call the office 4 times throughout the night and not once did anyone seem annoyed that I was calling about him. In the morning they called to give me another update and then I picked him up that afternoon. We kept him on the medication plan from the vet, and one week later he is doing great and has his energy back!

Experiencia positiva: Recommend putting a monitor with pets name in order on who’s next. Been here 2x and the wait has been very long. We realize life threatening will take precedence, but knowing who’s ahead of us would help. No communication on wait time is frustrating and we saw several people leave out of frustration and then a receptionist calling out their name shortly thereafter.

Experiencia negativa: Wish I could put a zero, we were there 6-7 hours never saw a Dr. wouldn’t take my worst enemy to them, employees didn’t seem to care about my dog who is 15 and was very sick. Very short handed. I left in tears when they said it would be a few more hours.

Experiencia fantástica: I took my 9 week old puppy here after waking up one morning and finding him lethargic. He required admission for 24 hours for fluids and monitoring and everyone here was so wonderful! The doctors were so kind and called me with updates, the staff were also so kind reassuring me and encouraging me to call anytime to check on my guy! I can’t say enough good things. I was very anxious and worried given the situation and they helped to calm me down. I cannot thank them enough!

They literally saved our little 9wk old Cavalier's life who came in with parvo and just recently helped our cat with an ear infection. So, thank you MedVet staff- we greatly appreciate you! People will complain about how expensive they are but they're an Emergency Vet...just as a human ER visit is expensive this is no different. Experiencia fantástica: My 5 year old cat had ended up with a partial blockage in his bladder, completely out of nowhere. We called Med Vet and they immediately asked me what his symptoms were, what his name was, and told us to get there and they’d get him checked in. As soon as we showed up, they got him back into his own room and started to try and figure out what was wrong even before we had checked in. The kindness that was given to me during this and even after has made this experience less stressful than it would’ve been otherwise. They fixed him up, gave me a detailed discharge sheet, and we headed home with our cat who was still in pain but a million times better. I’ve never had a cat who’s had urinary issues before so there were multiple times in the middle of the night that I would call them and ask if everything was normal and they were so quick to respond to me and so kind about it too. We spent a lot of money, but they knew we couldn’t spend more than a certain amount based on what we had with care credit. They did everything they could to make sure they were helping him while also keeping the cost as low as possible. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who’s having any kind of emergency with their animal. I had nothing but a good experience and I knew leaving him with them overnight that he’d be safe and well taken care of.

Experiencia fantástica: MedVet was great if you can get in when there aren't many people there. They were very kind and understanding although some of them in the front looked tired. Despite appearances they were polite to me and got me seen pretty quickly. The vet was young but knowledgeable and listened very well and gave me every option available. They even had someone available to come discuss pricing and payment because it's about double the price of my local vet but since medvet is open 24 hours it makes sense considering the level of care. They didn't push any one treatment plan or option and said, we will do what you ask which I appreciated. I asked them if they would prescribe UTI medication without a UTI and blood work done (my cat is 15 and has a history of UTIs) and both tests would have brought my bill just north of 5-6 hundred dollars. So with the medication only and the camelback subcutaneous water injection, it cost me 335 and saved my cats life. Thank you medvet.

I get that you're busy, Should have a better rotation to make a quick diagnosis to get people in and out. Only reason I'm giving a 3 instead of 2 is because staff was kind and professional.
