Experiencia negativa: I have never had a good experience here since I took a stray cat here for surgery 15 years ago. Today the neighbor's dog busted through their fence and ours and attacked our dog. We had to immediately bring her to the closest emergency vet since she was profusely bleeding and her lips were hanging. Spent four hours to finally be told they haven't didn't anything and we needed to sign up for that care credit to get treatment, that didn't happen. The neighbor better be paying for tonight's bill and whatever it will cost to fix my dog's face

Experiencia negativa: We took our dog Zuzu in for an emergency situation. I understand there are policies and procedures and those cost money. But it felt impersonal, like there was no consideration for what we were going thru or any need for them to help her. They sent her home on meds and made us sign something saying we were going against medical advice when we weren’t we wanted to do the surgery but they refused any form of working with us to save her life. It’s sad and heartbreaking and I hope that we can find a way to help other pet parents in the future when they find themselves in similar situations. I struggle to understand why you would go into this profession if you didn’t want to help the animals you see. If your having an emergency and your not well off I suggest finding another place. The reception staff was very sweet and they were more caring then anyone else we seen. They are money hungry and I truly wish we would have read the reviews before going here. We lost our dog of 12 years and I blame the poor care and lack of care for people’s pets at this place. It’s heartbreaking how little some places actually care for the animals yet how much they care about the payday. There is a whole in our hearts and they could have helped and instead tried to talk us into euthanasia and not helping her. Charged us $300 to do nothing but tell us they won’t do anything n send some meds home. I’m thankful for the meds because at least she had some pain meds when she left us but they could have helped her and chose not to.

Experiencia negativa: Last week my dog went into a breathing crisis which could have caused him to suffocate to death. Now mind you they were aware of his condition due to we had a consultation with him there so his info in the computer . I called ahead mind you that was a half an hour notice and told them that this was an emergency situation. When I arrived they were more concerned about collecting payment than helping my dog there was no sense of urgency made us wait for way too long when he could have died at any moment. He was unable to walk due to he could not breathe too big to carry we asked if we could go into a room that was closest I was told no but yet that was the room we ended up being placed in at the end where I lost my boy. This was a very traumatizing experience for myself and my dog. This place used to be good. I also want to stay I understand the operation as I used to work in a vet's office. One vet tech that stepped in and took over was the only good experience I had and took care of my boy at the end but I am having nightmares of how traumatizing this was for the both of us.

Experiencia fantástica: This vet hospital has been an absolute life saver more than once for my pets. I truly appreciate everything they do for me and my furbabies. The only downside is that for specialty, there is a bit of a wait. But it is worth the wait. They are so kind and compassionate and professional. If you can't wait, please use their emergency services!

Experiencia fantástica: Everyone super helpful and friendly and kind..no questions are stupid and Dr Collins explained everything very thoroughly before my dog’s surgery and him and his team took great care of my dog…Dr. Chambers also was very kind and thorough in his exam and how he explained what they were doing and looking for. Etc…basically top notch place from front desk people vet techs to Dr’s etc..feel very confident taking my pets there for any future needs.

Experiencia fantástica: We had to bring our bearded dragon in for an emergency late in the evening. The staff were very kind and professional. The news was the worst it could be, but they were patient and gentle and even discounted our price. I’ve never had a vet experience where they tried to save us money and didn’t have a bunch of hidden expenses, and it was a pleasant surprise especially with the loss of our pet. They offered several after care options and gave us plenty of time to make our decision. Would recommend

Experiencia negativa: The only reason they don't get 1 star is because they at least answered the phone and were up front about how with no real money or approval for a credit app there were no svcs that they would render. Just another place labeled as an emergency clinic for the sake of being open 24hrs. No true help for those down on their luck, no way to set up payment plans, therefore not a genuine emergency vet. Health and vet svcs are a joke in this country if you're the average Joe...

Experiencia fantástica: I truly cannot say enough positive things. The care we received for our dog was exceptional. From the moment I walked in (terrified) the girls at the front greeted me with kindness and compassion. Their calmness and professionalism all night while I was in the waiting room calmed me. The care from then on was just as incredible. The communication was thorough and clear. I wish I remembered everyone’s names but please thank the entire team for me. Even if our outcome would have been different (she’s okay!) I would feel the same.

Experiencia fantástica: There are not enough stars. The immense care the emergency team showed my wife and our dying bulldog began healing us before we left. This place is not like the others. This team, every woman we encountered, was kind and reverent and treated both us humans and our little love so gently. I cant imagine seeing people and their beloved pets in crisis this way and being so unfailingly amazing. You helped my family over our hardest night so far, and I am grateful. Experiencia fantástica: Had to have emergency surgery done on our golden retriever after he decided to eat a dishtowel. The ER doctor and staff were extremely professional as was the surgical team. They contacted us prior to surgery, after surgery and twice the next day giving us constant updates.

Experiencia positiva: Good luck talking to the vet about any test results or getting results to your regular vet in a timely manner. Getting an explanation of the why and details and questions answered totally frustrating and took weeks. Had to deal with an intermediary person often who was not good at relaying questions at all. They really need to set up a time you can talk to the vet for a second.

All the technicians, administration staff and doctors could not have been more thorough, kind, patient and knowledgeable in their communications with us. Experiencia positiva: VERY COMPASSIONATE through a difficult time! Let me explain. In September 2025, our dog (Leroy) was diagnosed by our local vet with Protein Losing Enteropathy (PLE). He was prescribed steroids to reduce the negative effects of the PLE. In January 2026, the same symptoms arose, but were more enhanced. After 2 weeks of trips and calls to the local vet, we were referred to Metropolatin Veterinary Hospital and told to go because they are waiting for us. The ONLY downside to our visit was the expectation when we arrived that we would be taken right in. (This expectation came from our local vet.). The wait was just over 1 hour, but we were told this when we arrived. When we were brought back to a room, Dr. Patty Thalhofer took care of us. She spent a great deal of time listening to our version of the events and compared our information to the preliminary information from the local vet. She noted some discrepancies, but did not see anything up front to cause alarm. She explained what she wanted to do and the cost. We agreed to how she wanted to proceed. It took about 3 hours to complete the testing and evaluation. When she was complete, she called us back and gave us the bad news. She explained that what she was initially presented with from the local vet did not make sense and caused a much deeper dive. Unfortunately her suspicions were correct and she found several lumps on our little guy’s liver. (The original diagnosis of PLE was incorrect.) She suggested a biopsy of some of the spots and we agreed. 30 minutes later, she came back to us with tears in her eyes. She confirmed it was a VERY aggressive cancer and his life expectancy was a couple weeks. She offered suggestions for hospice care and things to keep him comfortable. Leroy lost his courageous battle with cancer 1 week later, but we had several goods days with him before he passed because of the thoroughness of Dr. Thalhofer. Dr. Thalhofer called us when she found out (obviously broken hearted as well) and offered her condolences. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD about how we were treated by the staff and doctors at Metropolatin Veterinary Hospital!! There was NO pressure for anything. They followed through with what they said and were EXTREMELY compassionate in our time of difficulty. Our hearts were broken when we lost Leroy, but we were lifted by the caring thoughts and treatment from the staff. THANK YOU Dr. Thalhofer for your care, compassion, and candor in taking care of our precious little Leroy!!

Experiencia negativa: I came in with my rabbit who was in the beginnings of GI Stasis. MVH said the initial checkup is $270. After examining my rabbit by referring to a exotic vet on the phone, they came in and said we will need $500 deposit to cover any overages and we would need to keep the rabbit overnight then we will transfer your rabbit to the office in Akron. Why was I instructed to come to their office when an exotic vet was not on staff there? Why wasn’t I directed to the Akron office in the 1st place? I couldn’t afford that. So they gave me meds and instructions which came to $359.50. Without doing anything. My son’s rabbit had the same GI stasis. He took his rabbit to the Avon Vet. They kept him and treated the rabbit for $300 without a deposit. Unfortunately my rabbit died the 5th. My experience was not good. I don’t understand why rabbits are considered an exotic animal. And why vets can’t except payment plans and why $270 is the standard exam price. It’s quite a shame that care of our pets is not affordable for the average pet owner. Will not ever go there again or recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: My 4 year old golden retriever had an issue with an infection from a previous surgery . The staff took her in and immediately treated her . Found out she had sepsis and they basically saved her life . The staff communicated by text and phone and photos each day she was hospitalized . The staff was loving, caring and treated her with kindness . I am glad I took my pet to this hospital .

Experiencia fantástica: Yesterday we lost one of our beloved birds, Flash. On Monday, he injured himself somehow and we rushed him to Barberton Veterinary hospital. Dr. Khane was so kind, empathetic, and gentle. Our financial situation has been dire this past year due to multiple unforeseen events. They waived fees, treated us with dignity, and genuinely cared for our boy. Two days later he worsened significantly, so we rushed him to Metro. I think we knew what we were walking in to, but we had hope. The front desk staff was so kind and patient with us as we checked in, asking questions with compassion. The triage tech was so, so kind and gentle with him while they tried to help him and us. They asked for permission for everything they did to ensure our comfort and his. Dr. White, when she gave us our options for his care, was so patient with us as we wared with one of the hardest decisions I think we have ever had to make. She gave us time alone, she gave us compassion, so many options. Ultimately our little man made our decision for us a few minutes later and passed with my husband and I talking to him. If the general kindness and understanding wasn't enough, they waived our bill completely after hearing how we were struggling to pay to save our boy. I can't begin to describe how thankful we are to the staff here for their time and their empathy during one of the hardest nights of our lives. Thank you all so much. I highly recommend this practice if you are looking for top care from people who genuinely care about the health and wellness of you and your non-human family.

He was in such bad shape I was about to order a coffin for him on amazon. They are very busy so it is often difficult to get in touch with your doctor after your pet has been discharged for clarification/questions. Your experience will be better if one of the nice receptionists happens to be working that day.

Experiencia fantástica: Took very good care of our cat as she went through a blockage surgery. Diagnosed quickly and without too much invasive procedure. We were very very grateful for their service, and also their kindness throughout the ordeal. We were able to schedule a time to visit while our cat was recovering from surgery. Our surgeon was very knowledgeable and kind to our cat. They make you pay a deposit for surgery, and they give you the option to pay the higher end of the estimate or the lower- and we paid the lower, and ended up getting quite a bit of a refund as well, so I can’t complain about the price. We would highly recommend this emergency vet- if you have to go at all.

Experiencia fantástica: Have never had to take any of my animals to an emergency vet until today. I had an amazing experience here with all staff— especially Morgan Sliger, DVM. She was very informative, understanding, and didn’t run any unneeded tests/perform any unneeded things. We were in and out within 2 hours and truly appreciate her and all the staffs care. Experiencia negativa: I used to bring my cat here a few years ago when he was getting old. Last night my mom‘s dog was having an episode and I sung the praises of this place told her how she could trust them and they never cost more than a couple hundred dollars for just a basic make sure everything‘s OK check out. As we walked out the door with $1000 bill because they gave her a physical exam and x-rays, I can no longer sing their praises.

Experiencia fantástica: Kylo was gravely ill when we brought him in. The care he received during his surgery and subsequent hospitalization was phenomenal. We were provided with regular updates regarding his progress. I cannot say enough about this place and the skill of his surgeon, Dr. Josh Collins. I thought we were most certainly going to lose Kylo because he was so very sick, but because of the wonderful care he received, he is home and almost 100% back to his old self. We are so grateful to the wonderful staff here for saving our boy!

Experiencia fantástica: I love this place! Such excellent care! Dr.Villalba is caring and patient. She explains things clearly, uses diagrams and is very thorough. She always allows time for my questions and I admit I always have many questions. When I leave I am confident that my dog has had the best care possible. Colby and I are in excellent hands! I have a medical background so my evaluation's carries weight. The veterinary assistants are kind and caring as well. Crystal was great today. The report findings I received including discharge instructions are very thorough! I highly recommend Dr. Villalba and her cardiac team. They are even nice and patient on the phone. Lucky Colby! Experiencia negativa: I will never go back to this place. They are money hungry, and after we had to put my mom’s dog to sleep they said they would call when his paw print was ready. No one ever called, so a couple weeks later I called to follow up and the lady said that they throw foot prints away after a week. Well it would have been nice if someone would have told us that his print was ready. They also aren’t comforting when you’re grieving. DONT GO HERE!

Our small dog lost use of her rear legs Christmas Eve went to the local 24/7 pet ER, useless waited hours no compassion no help. Found Metropolitan in Akron (1 hr drive) online (needed MRI). Got us in. Very caring compassionate doctor explained every thing. We will drive here from now on!!!! They are the BEST!!!

Experiencia fantástica: I unfortunately had to make two trips within two weeks. Our dog was showing signs of possible bloat and then our diabetic cat was seizing from low glucose. Both times we were treated with kindness and compassion. Our fur babies were seen right away. Dr. Baltic saw both of our pets. She and all of the staff were wonderful. Everything was well explained and estimates were provided beforehand. I’m so thankful that we have a facility like this in times of need.

Experiencia negativa: I was referred to Metro for an orthopedic consultation after my dog tore her CCL. While the facility is nice and the staff were friendly, my overall experience left me extremely disappointed. During the consult, I was told my dog had torn both CCLs and was given an estimate that was drastically higher than expected and well above what many other owners report paying for the same surgery. After researching extensively and speaking with multiple veterinarians, vet techs, and other dog owners, I learned that non-invasive options such as custom knee braces can be a reasonable alternative when surgery is not financially feasible. When I asked Metro to simply sign a form verifying the diagnosis so I could pursue this option, the orthopedic vet refused, stating he did not agree with that plan of care. As a result, despite paying for a consultation and diagnosis, I was prevented from using that information to pursue a less invasive and more affordable treatment for my dog. This left me feeling pressured toward an extremely expensive surgery and backed into a corner financially. While surgery may be the gold standard, it is not the only option, and refusing to support or acknowledge alternative care paths was frustrating and disheartening.

Experiencia negativa: I wouldn’t take my dog back here if his life little depended on it. The staff front desk staff were incredibly friendly, but the medical service was disgraceful. First of all, they take your animal in the back room and don’t release them until you leave. What? I didn’t even get to see the doctor do the exam on my dog. He came back so nerved up that I’m curious what they did to him with no public eyes to see. As soon as I walked into the exam room they scooped my dog up and left. Then an incredibly nervous doctor walks in WITHOUT MY DOG and struggled to answer any of my NORMAL questions about her “diagnosis” without nervously reading her paper and avoiding eye contact the whole time. I would have rather she said she clearly had no idea what she was looking at and referred us to someone else. They told me in order to do an MRI they needed $5k down that night and another $12-$15k to pay off for surgery the next day. They wouldn’t even do an MRI without me agreeing to surgery the next day IF they found anything. Package deal. As I’m trying to check out I keep asking them to bring my dog back to me and they kept giving this weird nervous energy and wouldn’t bring him out until I had paid for his exam. Seemed like a really uneducated and blatant money grab. I’m sure they do great work on other cases, but for our case I’m appalled by how unprofessional the medical and doctor staff was. If your gut is telling you not to go here, go somewhere else. We got a second opinion and immediately found a non-surgical treatment that wasn’t shoved down our throats with fear and nervous energy. Our second opinion vet was also unsure about how the doctor at this facility treated us and explained the diagnosis. She said it was a little preemptive. This facility is NOT open to questions or concern about their suggestions. It’s all about who is willing to pay first.

Experiencia fantástica: My little boy Cooper was having seizures and our vet was closed so we brought him to the Metropolitan Veterinary hospital and from the minute we walked into the door we had staff taking care of us. They informed us about his care and suggested we leave him under their care for the next few days so they could run test. His doctor called me two times a day to let me know how he was doing and to keep me updated. Cooper is home now and doing great. I can't thank the doctors and staff enough for taking good care of my boy.

Experiencia negativa: Made it sound like they really knew what to do with my blue crown conure parrot. Kept coming back stating they needed to do more tests which I’m sure is normal. But the costs were high. Went back and forth with, “wellllll we think this, but maybe this… we need to do more tests…” just felt like they didn’t really know what to do. Then pitched the idea of keeping my bird overnight for 2 nights. I saw that it would have been $600 for that. I said no. So they gave me some medicine for her kidneys. I took her home and gave her the medicines. She died this morning. So I’m glad i ONLY spent $600 just for my bird to die at home. Instead of another $600 for her to die there. Wasted expectations. Wasted time. Wasted money

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my dog in with head trauma and everyone did great with getting him back and checked out very fast. Did a great job with scans and making sure he would have a good quality of life still. They were very open and honest with what needed to be done to rule out everything. 4 days after and my pup is doing great and recovering well

Experiencia fantástica: Unexpected result for out semi-senior dog. The kindness and compassion was over and above what would have been considered acceptable given the circumstances, Our beloved family member had been deteriorating rapidly, we just didnt see or understand it. Dogs hide their discomfort beyond what most living beings are capable of. A semi quick evaluation came to the conclusion that it was, in fact, time for the decision to be made. Our doctor, along with all the other staff was empathetic, and was able to share our pain and suffering in ways that were able to help us past this point of sorrow for our loved one and part of our family. A hug shared is pain and emotion halved and helps to overcome the moment of grief and sorrow. Thank you staff, thank you doctors.

Experiencia fantástica: I would recommend this place to everyone. I had both my dogs here and they treated me and them like their own. I guess they understand we as patient we keep the doors open. I was there less than 4 hours and never felt alone, everyone was smiling and helpful. I also had the joy of watching the maintenance guy do his thing and I never seen no one clean like him especially at an animal clinic. I went to two other animal hospitals before this one and the sanitation and the lack of patent care is not what they specialize in. I felt like a dollar mark. I will continue to come here from now on for any mature reasons for all my pets. Thank you metropolitan veterinary hospital of akron.

Experiencia negativa: Horrible hospital go to med vet instead. They will actually try and treat your animal instead of turn you away after 5 min exam. They let a cat die after being hit by a car. Experiencia positiva: My little dog had an eye infection. He woke up with one eye covered by a gray film, Luke a cataract. One night. Boom. No regular vet hours on a Saturday. Ended up taking him at 2pm since I had a volunteer commitment in the morning (he was happy, ate well, walked fine etc). They were busy as all get out and understaffed. So many ill animals, but they handled it all with grace and courtesy. Offered us blankets, water, etc. if needed. Vitals were taken. Dr. D’Angelo was very professional while being overworked. She got a chance to look at him around 5pm. She always asked permission and gave the approximate cost before ordering the next test. A veterinary ophthalmologist was on call so Dr. D reviewed the case with her over the phone with photos. They diagnosed uveitis and gave us prednisone eye drops and some pain meds. I have a follow up with my own vet this coming Saturday (they are in on every other Saturday). Got home by 8pm. It was a long day but we got the best care we could get. I would have given them 5 stars (the staff and Dr D were great) but whomever staffs the hospital needs to place another doc on call, especially over the upcoming holidays. It cost $475 including the meds, not at all outrageous for a vet hospital.

Experiencia fantástica: We received excellent, compassionate, high level care for our cat who was vomiting and losing weight without a diagnosis from our primary vet. Unfortunately, we received terrible news about her diagnosis and prognosis, but we were treated with care and respect throughout the process. Dr Randall did an amazing job explaining everything to us and also did a very thorough work up. She was extremely compassionate in delivering bad news. Also, the facility and staff are exceptional and run like a human emergency department (but perhaps more efficient) . We would recommend this service to anyone requiring higher level care for their animal.

Experiencia fantástica: Our 11 year old Wire Haired Pointing Griffon received excellent care at Metropolitan where she was treated and operated on for an emergency gall bladder removal. Her surgeon called us prior to and following surgery with updates and information on her along the way. She stayed overnight on her surgery day and we were able to take her home the following day. I can't say enough on how informative and caring the surgical staff were to us. She has recovered nicely and is almost back to her old self. Many thanks to Metropolitan for getting our sweet girl fixed up and back home where we can love on her.

Experiencia negativa: When our rabbit had a health emergency around 3 AM, they said they had absolutely no services they could provide our rabbit (even though they are listed as exotic animal hospital). (We just requested antibiotics for reference) They offered to just snuggle her until Barberton opened in the morning. We paid $500 deposit through metro so Barberton could begin treatment immediately, which we later learned they didn’t do anything to treat for 6 hours then just gave her oxygen in the last hour before she passed away. Considering this is an exotic animal hospital, this is 3rd world level quality and ultimately contributed to the death of our rabbit. We shouldn’t have left our rabbit in their care and should have stayed with our rabbit the entire time, very poorly handled when trusted both hospitals with our little girl. This happened a couple years back, but just realized I never left a review at this hospital, only Barberton.

Experiencia positiva: Took our Pug to Metro on a Saturday for immediate medical attention, only it wasn’t immediate. We waited over 4 hours to see a doctor. During our observations, however, their practice appeared to be genuinely caring, well-oiled and very busy. Prior Vet Care was shared with the doctor, and the difficult decision was made to admit into ICU. The care our Pug received was excellent, though I was disappointed in the communication while she remained in their care. Overall, she stayed there for 3 nights and 4 days before she was released. The most important fact I want to stress is she came home in a lot better shape than when she was admitted. And for that, we are most grateful. I would go back if necessary.

Experiencia negativa: I have never been to a vet that has such little compassion and competency for the owners and their pets through an emergency experience. We waited 4.5 hours the first time just to be seen and charged 560 dollars for a visit and two tests. I went somewhere else and had my kitten tested and treated for less than 100. We went back for another reason later in the week and they had us wait 6 hours this time with a 7 week old kitten until 3am in the morning whilst the whole time there were 3 people in front of us. If I watch your multitude off staff for hours at an emergency vet have no urgency, it’s is safe to assume this vet practice is only here for the money rather than the core values of care medicine usually carries. It is irresponsible to allow an infant animal to wait that long knowing they are there for a reason and then perpetuating the problem when he became hungry, tired, and restless. It is also noticeable that the examination room is absolutely filthy. If your pet wasn’t sick before going, he will be touching that floor. I sincerely hope that if you have another option, you will pick it.

Experiencia negativa: We had a stray kitty we believe someone dropped off nearby it took shelter in our garage. It was extremely skinny and sick, had a horrible infection in their right eye needed medical help. My husband brought it to metro the first day it came. They quickly looked at it checked the vitals said to give it back it’s fine. It stayed with us for 2 weeks till we got in to get seen by a doctor only to be told it needed intensive care, it’s bones we’re starting to come through it’s skin, it was suffering. We can’t afford major care. My kids, husband and I got attached to it only to have her put down. I think metro failed us and the poor little kitty.

She had a critical obstruction I showed up at night with her as her health was clearly declining. My 8 year old and myself was a wreck. Experiencia negativa: We are very disappointed with our experience. On 09/20/25 we brought our gecko in for an emergency after calling ahead to confirm they saw reptiles. After a two-hour wait, we were told no reptile vet was available and asked to pay $350 for them to hold her overnight and transfer her to Barberton, where we were charged another $400. She was diagnosed with an infection and stuck shed, but her severe impaction was missed, and she tragically passed away on 9/23. This has been heartbreaking, and to then receive a text asking us to “rate our experience” only added to the pain.

Experiencia negativa: We took our cat here after going to our local Veterinarian and finding out they could do nothing after testing his blood sugar levels and finding that he was in a state of ketoacidosis. We noticed his decline and had serious concerns the day before but didn't realize how bad it was going to be. After being told by the local vets that they could do nothing we drove 40 minutes to this facility and checked him in. There were all sorts of people at the check in desk with their pets, probably being referred here from all around because their local vets can do nothing in an emergency situation, and we had him checked in which went fine. After being told the situation that he would be put on an IV and rehydrated, and they would test his blood levels etc., and that we could basically do nothing to help and that it would cost between $5000 and $7000 to have him put into critical care we drove home expecting some type of positive results. Unfotunately he was not showing any signs of improvement after the IV treatment to rehydrate. We expected at least some sign of improvement after getting there to help with his extremely high blood sugar but were basically told the costs up front. After calling repeatedly after having him admitted and finding out the worst possible knews that we would probably have to put him down or pay the $5000 - 7000 to put him into critical care I decided to drive back and be there with him to see him put down. The vet was very straightforward and honest and said that he was suffering and we decided that putting him down was the best option and at this point we were told it could cost $8000 - $10000 to put him into critical care in Cleveland. One of the main reasons I am writing this review is that after all said and done of having to have our cat put down and paying the bill of over $1000 to have the anaesthesia administered and then the drug they use to stop the heartbeat of the animal after leaving and returning home we released they forgot to return the pet carrier that we brought our cat in with. Upon calling them back about the carrier we were told that we should try to get there as soon as possible so that it wouldn't be give away, there was no consideration after paying that bill of them even trying to mail the carrier to us. Hopefully someone will read this review before taking their pet here and expecting some type of miracle or even positive result but know up front that you should expect some major charges financially, at least that is what we experienced.

Experiencia negativa: They bullied me into spending money that was unnecessary. They said if I didn't give them $5,000 down that they would send my dog home in the condition she came in: bladder ridiculously full and in excruciating pain. The ER doctor was a bully and refused to even speak to me about palliative care. I could not rake her home that way! What a horrible predicament to have put me in!!! During her stay they spent over $3,000 more without discussing the charges with me, which they told me they would. They said they would keep me informed and let me know if they went over the $5,000. When i picked her up the receptionist said "it's just a little bit of a difference- you owe us $3,056" You can imagine my surprise and disgust! And after all of that they NEVER did an ultrasound of her bladder, which they told me they would - and even shaved her belly for - but never performed, and because of that they misdiagnosed her. After $8,000 worth of tests that they bullied me into, they were incorrect anyway. Today I am putting her down. We are thankfully working with her regular doctor who knows and cares about us. MVH does not care about anything other than extracting money from people, regardless of the situation. Y This was an absolutely horrible experience, I definitely do not recommend this facility.

Experiencia negativa: I have been visiting this place for more than 20 years. I consistently brought my boxer in, and they repeatedly diagnosed her with pancreatitis. I insisted that there was more to the issue, which led me to return multiple times. Eventually, I took her to the OSU emergency facility, where they suspected problems with her spleen or liver, as well as issues in her abdomen. The X-rays confirmed their suspicions, and sadly, she had to be euthanized because she could no longer support her legs. I was astonished that the veterinarians at Metro were unaware of this! Furthermore, upon my arrival, I informed them that my dog was experiencing a seizure. It took them some time to respond, and after examining her, they declared her stable. However, she continued to have foaming seizures, prompting us to call from the parking lot and wait a bit longer before they administered the medication to halt the seizures. I was extremely disappointed! I sincerely hope that they have made improvements since then.

Experiencia fantástica: Our Wired Hair Pointing Griffon Mercy suddenly became very ill. It was determined that her gall bladder had become enlarged and infected and had to be removed. She had emergency surgery Saturday morning and came home on Sunday! She’s doing great! Dr. Kayla Chase, our contact from the surgery team, was exceptional! Everyone was very thorough and Dr. Chase communicated everything to us!

Experiencia fantástica: This past weekend I had to make one of the hardest decisions a pet owner has to. Our regular vet referred us to metro after our kitten had complications post surgery that appeared to be genetic in nature. Metro was so helpful especially as I had to eventually let our sweet girl go. The doctors and staff saw me in all my emotions, and met me with so much compassion. Without them, I don’t think I would have been able to make the choice of letting my girl go and helping her no longer suffer. They gave me the grace to make that choice and forgive myself after. Beginning to end they did an amazing job despite how busy they were. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the two doctors who helped me that night. I wish I could tell them how much they did for me and my kids ❤️

Experiencia fantástica: Our young hamster began to show signs of illness while we were traveling thru the area and Barberton clinic was able to see us the same day I called for an appt. We scheduled surgery for 2 days later. When they discovered a rapidly growing tumor was the cause of the issue, they called us in to allow us time to grieve, and for our sweet daughters to say goodbye to their sweet pet. They were all so caring. Could not have asked for better care.

Experiencia negativa: Our dog was hit by a car, dislocated leg, arrived at 11pm, wasn’t seen until after 4am. Go somewhere else. **updated next day** Yes, I do believe I should’ve provided more information. Our dog was struck by a car around 7pm on 9/3. We found the nearest emergency animal hospital to be in Wooster on Cleveland Road (excellent, by the way), and took him there for triage. We were seen immediately; two nurses helped us get him onto a gurney, and into their hospital. They gave various meds, an IV, and evaluated him. They kept us updated roughly every 30 min. The care was excellent. Around 9:30pm the vet met with us and explained in lay terms they found a dislocated hip, swelling, and various cuts/scrapes. She was concerned about potential fluid in the abdomen. The vet explained she doesn’t recommend resetting the hip and using a sling to keep it in-place on larger dogs as the success rate is low. She suggested we go to Metro Akron as surgery would be necessary to fix our boy. They then prepped our boy for transport and sent info to Akron. We arrived to Akron around 11pm, registered at the desk, shared we were referred from Wooster, and explained our understanding of his condition. The gal collected our information and said someone would be outside to help us move our boy shortly. As I walked away I heard the attendant state that she needed help moving a “hit-by-car stat”. This validates the level of care that was determined for our dog and is consistent with the posters that explain level of concern on the wall. On the most elevated level (red/stat) hit-by-car, is one of several examples of a situation that would warrant a red/stat level of concern. I would like to pause to say each individual I met at the hospital was kind. I have no issue with the individuals; they showed compassion and empathy to us and other patients. After check in around 11p, approximately 11:40p a gal came outside to get our dog. She the called for help over the radio and a gentleman brought a gurney. The gal explained they would take him to the back to check vitals. Roughly 30 minutes later she came back to explain they had reused his IV ports and made him comfortable in a cage. As we sat and waited we watched several other families enter. Unfortunately, some left in tears and without words we knew they didn’t get to take their babies home. This was heart breaking. We were fortunate to have an idea ours did not have serious internal injuries but knew he lay in the back with a dislocated leg, an unknown concern regarding fluid in the abdomen, and road rash. As we waited we began seeing some families leave with their pets. Between midnight and 3AM we saw at least four families who arrived after us leave with their pets while ours still lay in the back without an update. Around 3AM (4hrs of waiting) I worked up enough courage to ask if there was a plan to evaluate our boy or if he was being held and monitored in preparation for surgery in the morning. The desk attendant spoke on the radio, the phone rang, and she said they would get to him as soon as possible. Around 4am, my wife went back up and spoke with a different attendant, the gal who first checked us in. We were then seen around 4:15AM. At no time were we rude, aggressive or unkind. During the conversation with the vet, she explained their policy was to start with resetting the hip before surgery, which was unsuccessful. We now have to have surgery, which was explained to us by the Wooster vet. This cost us an additional $1700 because of their “policy”. We waited 5 hrs without update to be sent home while his hip was unsuccessfully reset for which we paid $1700 to be told we now have to pay $8k-$12k to fix it properly, which should’ve been done in the first place.

Her bedside manner dealing with anxious owner was amazing. Furthermore, her compassion towards my pet went above and beyond what I would expect from someone we had just met. The support staff is friendly and efficient. As my situation escalated, they made sure to cover accrued billing as well as updated estimates day by day so there was no surprise at the end.

Experiencia negativa: If your pet needs minor help the vets might be okay for that but a real emergency I don’t recommend this place. Not only did we wait hrs to be seen, The vet Dr.Rich made it seem as if my puppy was going to be alright. I even asked her if I should put the puppy down and she reassured me it wasn’t time to say good bye. Got update calls that everything looks like it’s going in the right direction until you say you can’t afford anymore after paying almost $5000. As long as the money is flowing they will tell you whatever you want to hear but once you say you can’t afford any more they call you and say it’s not looking good and think it’s time to put her down. And then have the audacity to say they could try something else but it’s $1000 more after I was just told there’s nothing else they could do. When I get there they added more onto the bill than what was discussed earlier that day and multiple people were coming in wanting payment and wouldn’t let me see my puppy until it was paid. Money hungry con artists

Experiencia fantástica: The Internal Medicine department at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital and especially Dr Chambers were so thorough with their assessment and kindness to my Bella. Dr Chambers took time to make sure we understood his concerns and need for first step testing. We felt very confident in Dr Chambers and the next steps he laid out.

Experiencia fantástica: I had to take my kitty to the Cat Company in Copley to have my kitty's thyroid dissolved . He had a hyperthyroid. They couldn't be more wonderful. I highly recommend their services. June, the Cat lady along with the main doctor are amazing.. thanks to June - my kitty was entertained with real gerberls n cat tv. June also gave me a detailed report that was so cute and entertaining. Icing on the kitty cake. Thank you for taking such good care of Skittles !!

Experiencia fantástica: Excellent care and communication, compassionate caregivers, and knowledgeable doctors and staff. Provided testing and time-sensitive intervention to our dog early on a Sunday morning. We received twice daily telephone updates from the vet or staff and ongoing followup after discharge. Highly recommend this provider.
