Ms. Michelle Was Very Helpful With Getting US In For Serenity Checkup Following Her Adoption. The Veterinarian And His Assistants Were very Caring and Helpful With all the questions I had. I would Highly Recommend Them For Your Fur Babies Care, And They Are Very Reasonable With Their Prices. Thank You!!!

Negative experience: Staff were amazing except for Tina the veterinarian. Too much attitude and slow service. The just don’t make them like they use too. What’s the point making an appointment if I’m waiting over an hour? All questions I asked were met with a dumb look on her face. I really miss how wonderful this clinic use to be with their long time clients. I use to bring in so many rescue cats and kittens. I’m so sad that customer care from this veterinarian is complete trash. Not worth my rescues or my stress or time. I will make sure to share this terrible experience with everyone I know.

Fantastic experience: Our Yorkie, Tiger, was recently seen at Armistead Ave Veterinary Hospital this week for a Wellness Care visit for a scheduled vaccine and lab work. We had another good visit, and as always the staff was great with helping us. I've been bringing our dogs here since 2008 and always gotten good service. Fantastic experience: I brought my girl Agatha to Armistead for the first time and I’m pretty convinced that I’ll never go anywhere else. This was just for a routine check up/vaccine update. Every single staff person (even the Dr.!) was so patient and kind. Aggie was pretty anxious, but they gave her lots of love and treats. You can tell that every staff member there genuinely cares about your pet. When I made the appointment, they were even very transparent about the expected costs, which is not something I’ve experienced with other vets. I’m hoping to never need them for anything more serious than the routine check ups, but I honestly feel like I could trust them in the event of anything more serious occurring.

Fantastic experience: This veterinary hospital is the best around. My cat Mimi is not the friendliest cat but they always seem to get done what needs to be done. The staff is always very friendly and my cat is listed as aggressive. . So they get her in and out in a timely fashion. And Dr Jones is awesome. My mimi does not like people. And the staff is always friendly and sometimes they're backed up but that's to be expected. But Dr Jones. Thank you I just posted more pictures of Mimi and her comfort zone. Negative experience: The staff was friendly and overall I was happy with their care. Leaving two stars because the commutation on extra lab testing was not given. I paid around $250 for extra labs and was not told to have the samples in by a certain date until I was already away on a trip. When I asked about getting them to the vet once I was back I was informed it would be a new charge and that what I paid already would not go to it. I did not appreciate the lack of instructions when I paid for the labs or the lack of a resolution.

Fantastic experience: Always a pleasure to be greeted and treated by people who care about your pets and treat you with respect and kindness! All of the staff are amazing and don’t try to upsell you items you don’t need and are budget conscious so you get what you can afford and excellent quality care for your pets. I ❤️ taking my 3 dogs here and they like it too. Brings back the hometown veterinary care others need to work on I don’t know how to explain it you just have to try them!

Fantastic experience: Love a vet that listens and respects my opinion they take good care of My babies

Negative experience: This place used to be the best. NOT ANYMORE. Since Dr. Mike & Beverly retired the new doctors do not care about your pet. They won't refill prescriptions my 16 year old pets have been receiving for years from this office even when both my pets were seen in the office within that month. Over $700 in bills & won't refill medication. Their suggestion is go to an emergency vet. New doctors are terrible. Dr. Lane had a could-care-less attitude about my geriatric pet with kidney disease. They don't return calls about test results for weeks. Dr. Jones is the only new doctor I feel treated my diabetic cat properly. All that being said I will no longer use this facility because quality of care has gone downhill & fell off a cliff. Both Dr. Selkes are dearly missed by humans & pets alike

Fantastic experience: I have been taking my dog to Armistead Veternary for 8 yrs. I've never had a bad experience there. My most recent visit, for my dogs annual exam went well. The staff are caring & professional.

Fantastic experience: The team here is wonderful, you can tell they care. I've only been bringing my cat here for a little while, but the folks here seem to be very invested in the health and wellness of every animal that comes in.

Fantastic experience: Just buried my 12 year old dog yesterday.. and God had a big hand in it. From telling me when to call the Vet and courage to call the vet, getting an appointment with caring people here at Armistead that helped my dog pass. I wanted to bury Quest.. I'm old so that was a task to get him a huge shepherd home. Armistead Team helped me get him in the car. A deliver guy helped me get him in to the back yard. I started digging.. I had 5 hours to get him in the ground even thought it has rained and make it easier.. told my son and he told the rest of the family. I had a brother near by and he found out and came and helped me.. Quest is in his resting place now.. I can count at least 13 miracles that happen that day. Remember to pray to God and ask for strength and help. When you yourself do not have and cannot.. God can and he will. God and Armistead thank you for looking out for me and my dog that day especially.. just a reminder God is always there for us. Just call on him. And just to let you know all dogs (animals, beast, creatures) go to heaven.. Psalm 36:6v Thanks to Armistead Vet they helped me care for Quest for 12 years...you know who you are (many).. Fantastic experience: Armistead Ave Vet has been my long time vet. I lost my dog in January and they were so wonderful assisting me in letting her go so she wouldn’t suffer. I got a new puppy and my fiancee and I decided to go to a different vet because of a coupon which ended up being a huge mistake because when we needed them they basically turned us away. We also got another puppy in that time as well so we decided we were definitely going back to Armistead Ave Vet and Gemmas first visit there for her 2nd set of shots was wonderful. There was almost no wait, everyone was super friendly and they took great care of all her needs. We will definitely never make the mistake of going anywhere other than Armistead Ave Vet again

Fantastic experience: I have Use Armistead veterinarian Hospital for many years. The service is spectacular. The doctors are professional as well as the staff. We brought Duncan our dog in to be checked for a growth in his mouth. Several doctors looked at the growth and decided it needed to be removed, after talking with the doctor we felt comfortable with going ahead with the surgery, We were given an estimate of cost that day.

Fantastic experience: Took my dog here for doggy daycare to test it out, so that I can board her in december. I'm always nervous, leaving her somewhere new, but they were amazing! Super accommodating and easing of my fears. They were very gentle and friendly with her. When I picked her up, they were even able to tell me how she did during the day. And she was extremely happy, unlike when she gets groomed, and she's shaking and nervous. I could tell she had a good time and they were conscious of the fact that she was nervous, so they put her in a more quiet setting and spent lots of time with her. I am more than confident that she will do well during the week we are on vacation and she's boarded there. Not to mention, they were recommended by a friend of ours who treats their dogs like children. They would never go here, our recommend them, if they weren't a great place to be. In addition, their prices are extremely reasonable.I would pay twice as much, just for peace of mind. Thank you for being a clean, respectable place to bring our loved ones !

Fantastic experience: This was my first time going to this facility. I made the appointment so my elderly dog would be set up for future boarding. Everyone seemed friendly and kind. Current customers that were coming in were all greeted warmly and seemed happy with the staff. I saw a travel vet during my visit and she was very thorough and kind as well. She answered my concerns and I left feeling like the extra cost for this visit was well worth it.

Fantastic experience: Takes Great care of our little ones! I have been going here since I was a kid and I’m almost 60! They are aren’t perfect but are the best I’ve seen (and no where is perfect). I had hesitations when the Silkey’s sold the business but I have to say, I do love that they do appointments because I’m not in there all day! Give them a try! You shouldn’t be disappointed!

Fantastic experience: Always a pleasure taking Nani to the vet here. The staff and veterinarians are so very friendly. One thing I like is they give you recommendations, but never push anything on you for your fur baby. I love the fact that you can setup appt times with them which makes it a lot better than sitting for a few hours to be seen. Love the convenience they are less than 10 minutes away.

Fantastic experience: We have been with Armistead for 14 years for our Cat and SibHusky. They have a stellar team, both at the vet and the boarding. We are so grateful for them. Special shot out to James at boarding who always made sure our Lava could be cleaned and clipped despite her fussing. And another special shot out to Dr.Jones who is nothing less than a pure animal whisperer. Lava took to her immediately - and pressed her head against Dr. Jones. The official head boop of trust and love. As Lava crossed the Rainbow Bridge this week the Armistead team was so patient, caring, compassionate, and we just couldn't have gotten through these 14 years without your care through the years. #We miss you so much Lava.

Fantastic experience: The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful regarding checking in. The wait time to be seen by veterinarian was over an half hour. However the vet and support staff were very professional and informative regarding to my cat's overall health and wellness

Negative experience: The staff is NOT coordinated. Ive used the boarding and hospital facilities. This led to a frustrating situation where a tech had to chase my dog outside in an attempt to collect the sample manually. Additionally, I was misinformed that the fecal sample needed to be warm in order to be tested, which I’ve since learned is not accurate.

Fantastic experience: Armistead hss been my veterinary hospital of choice for nearly 15 years. I can't say enough about the quality of care all my cats have received. The vets, techs and receptionists are all wonderful!

Negative experience: We moved. We told them we moved. We no longer live there.... yet they're still harassing us via email, text, and letter. In fact... we received a letter today and emails just this past week about our pets being "OVERDUE" when they're not... because we've been elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Dr. ADAMS and the technician were excellent. My cat was there for a yearly vaccine and was given a complete once over from head to toe. He (my cat) was handled with loving care as he curled up on the doctor's shoulder. I am so confident about taking my beloved animal to Armistead Vet Hospital. Thank you.

Negative experience: This is based solely on the experience I had today and today only. I called the emergency line & told them my 9 year old dog was having trouble breathing, vomiting, & shaking. The emergency line receptionist told me to take her to PARC as they didn’t have any openings today. So instead of me driving 3 minutes away to their office they had me drive 20 minutes to Yorktown. I understand schedules, & the holiday weekend. I’m at PARC now waiting to find out if my dog is going to make it.

Negative experience: I have been using this Vet practice for over 30 years and until yesterday I have always sung the praises of this practice. We had a appointment for euthanasia on the 9th but yesterday our 20 year old furbaby started bleeding profusely we called to try and rush her to our trusted vet for humane euthanasia and were told sorry we can’t see her today you will have to drive further away to the emergency vet I’m begging please we don’t want treatment we just want her humanly euthanized at the closest trusted vet. Again we were told no. We ended up at a unknown vet down the road from us that had never seen us before but they managed kindness in a very traumatic situation for complete strangers that this practice could not for a 30 plus year client. I am not sure if Dr Silkey is still in charge of this practice but the care and compassion is no longer what I have been accustomed to. I am very very sad to have to write this review but yesterday you lost a strong supporter and client we will switch over our care to a practice that in a time of need made room for a complete stranger.

Fantastic experience: Although I waited over 45 minutes for my scheduled appointment, Dr Adams spent time discussing my pets condition and going over treatment options when we were seen. I appreciate the thoroughness, but recommend that in the future the staff “check in” with customers/patients while they wait to be sure they are ok with the extended wait. I was in the car with my pet and went in to check that my record had not been missed/that they knew we were still waiting to be seen. I have been coming to Armistead Vet for 30 years and trust them to do thorough examinations.

They did everything possible from providing a safe private environment to making her feel comfortable while giving her all the lovies with zero judgement.

They took us serious when we said something was wrong when some other vets would not.. they have been doing everything possible and always excited to see our girl. Fantastic experience: After living in Hampton Roads for 13 years, I have finally found a trusting and affordable vet for my three dogs! The doctors, technicians, and desk staff are always kind and welcoming. I appreciate that they are informative but not pushy, and they are definitely the most affordable vet we have visited on the peninsula! I always leave our appointments feeling good about my three senior dogs’ health and the next steps to take to keep them healthy.

Negative experience: will not be going back. 81$ for a vet visit for them to not even fix my cat. what does a vet even do anyway if they won’t distribute medication to my cat.

He treated my dog with patience and kindness, even though she was nervous. I recommend Armistead Vet. Especially now that we can make appointments.

Negative experience: We have gone here for a very long time. Now all the sudden they never have appointment. Not even same day sick. Was told they don't care if I go somewhere else. When I went there a month ago with my dog I still never got answers as what was going on with him. We use to love the doctors their. They are definitely not the same and not for the animals. I was very disappointed that they didn't care at all. Would not recommend.

You have to come correct with any animal should always introduce yourself by letting them smell you and get a little bit familiar with your scent before you start poking at them that’s all I’d like to share with all the staff some do it some don’t I hope all of them take note of this message is just to encourage love to all the animals. Fantastic experience: My appt was with Dr. Bruce. She gave Bailey a thorough check up. She reviewed his previous x-rays and appts and rechecked his legs and ankles. I trust Dr. Bruce implicitly with my dogs care. I'm very satisfied with this veterinary practice.

Fantastic experience: They were able to work my dog in without an appointment. Brenda (vet tech) and Dr Bruce listened to my concerns and even called me to clarify a few things after I dropped her off. I was shown the X-rays that were taken and then we discussed different treatment options. I did not feel like unnecessary tests or procedures were done. Thankfully my sweet girl is doing better today!
