Fantastic experience: Wonderful fear free clinic! My senior pit bull was extremely fearful of the vet when we started coming here. The last vet had her muzzled for her visits which always made everything worse. The vets, vet techs and front office staff at Bethany all worked with Viola to make her more comfortable. She actually wags her tail when we go in and and gets shots with no stress. Definitely doesn't need a muzzle anymore. Thank you, Bethany Family Pet Clinic!

Fantastic experience: When my dog suddenly was having significant lameness in his back right leg and generally wasn't acting himself, Dr. Rodriguez took the time to see him that day. After examination and XRays we came up with a plan. Magnus showed improvement within 24 hours and I was much relieved!

Called to have their dog seen nope can’t do it wouldn’t even recommend another emergency vet service.. you definitely are not a clinic that has a dogs best interests!! They have spent a lot of money here and to get this kind of service is just crap..

Positive experience: I’ve been going to this vet for a decade now, and during that time I’ve spent about $10,000. I’m not mad because I respect vets and think care is important, but when I’m paying roughly $1,000/year I have certain expectations. Mainly respect and courtesy. This hasn’t been a real issue in the past, I had a vet I really liked (Dr Velasco, I don’t think she’s there anymore) and the front desk staff were/are mostly patient, knowledgeable, courteous, and on the ball. So I overlooked the missteps, like when they threw away my original adoption papers (that they asked to see), or when another vet replaced my dogs bandage incorrectly and it caused all the blood to pool in his feet and permanently rubbed the fur off his leg (caused open sores). I understand human error, I really do, but I should have received some kind of concession for that. That was 5 years ago and cost me $5,000. Mind you, this was ultimately just for bandaging to support his leg healing itself. That’s bad enough for most people to stop going, but for me it’s that post covid, the service has gone downhill, though the prices keep going up. For instance, it cost me $1600 to pull 4 teeth in my senior dog, and the vet (not Velasco) acted like it was something I was doing. I explained he was a stray when I adopted him (they should already know, that) and was severely malnourished as a puppy. I was also annoyed it took them over 5 hours to complete the extractions when I made it clear I was waiting (I moved an hour away, so I had to stay in town). They had no problem making me get there at 7 am (meaning I had to wake up at 5 am for the appointment), so I expected some mindfulness on their part, but the vet wouldn’t let the front desk people being him out. It’s whatever, I’m used to it. I’ve had a long history of helping my dog through his health issues and know this is the way it goes, but I came in 2 weeks later (today) to get my other dog and new cat their shots and was genuinely upset at the unpleasant experience. I could hear the assistant talking about me through the door and both her and the vet challenged everything I said and made it seem like they thought I was an inept pet owner, or like I was being unreasonable/uneducated. This is twice in the same month that I experienced this and had given them $2,000 for the pleasure. The appointment ended in the vet giving a diagnosis (heart disease) based on what he heard on a stethoscope (that thing they use to listen to breath). I’m not a vet, but I don’t think that’s how heart disease is confirmed. Long story short; this place has lost the intangible quality that kept me going here, and they charge too much for providing average care. Maybe this is the way it’s always been and I just got lucky with Velasco, I don’t know. I’m not expecting perfection, by any means, but I’ve had enough. At the very least, I deserve a vet that doesn’t shame me, challenge me, or unnecessarily upsell. For all the mistakes this place has made, and all the money I’ve given them, I expect more.

Fantastic experience: I found Bethany Family Pet Clinic during a hard search for a Fear Free vet. Their entire staff is outstanding. My dog struggles hard with new people and finally found a vet practice that is willing and capable of helping him. Dr Lough and Hannah are wonderful to work with. I cannot say enough good things about each of them. As the owner, you must do the work but they will meet you halfway and will bring the expertise you are looking for.

Fantastic experience: Dr. POW and the rest of the staff were incredible. This was by far the most thorough Vet visit I’ve ever had. Everyone was very friendly and personal, and Dr. Pow put in a lot of effort and care into taking care of our dog. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: We initially had a great experience with our kitten’s first 2 appointments here, but is definitely changing our vet since the doctors have changed and our kitten’s spay had a much longer incision then needed. Our dog is double our kitten’s size and had half the incision. They are also too busy these days to take calls so we couldn’t even contact with questions. The manager is very passive aggressive and blames customers for not noticing emails about changes in staffing, and says there is no way they can notify all customers when the doctor that their pets saw before is no longer working there. How about calling a customer who paid a deposit for a spay ahead of time to tell them that the spay would be with another doctor? Instead, we found out when we called about our kitten’s spay and was told we have to pay for another visit to meet the doctor for the spay. We were told the new doctor is “amazing” but don’t know how they are amazing. They also didn’t give us the paperwork for our kitten’s microchip after it was done and mailed it to us week’s later, which is not the norm.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Monteith was great with Captain and in taking the time to listen to me and in answering all of my questions. I really appreciate all of the time she spent with us.

Negative experience: After having to put my dog down and being told I had paid in full, I'm now getting calls from the crematorium asking for more money. This place is a joke and I'm horrified and the way I've been treated.

Fantastic experience: My 9 mo dog Baze has Parvo virus after being fully vaccinated. I was impressed when after presenting me with the bill, they gave me multiple options including contacting the drug company to see if they would offset some of the cost. They were able to his treatment covered which was a huge relief and after one day of hospitalization, he is doing so much better. They were thorough, knowledgeable, and kind. Baze is a lucky pup! I highly recommend Dr. Pow and her team.

Fantastic experience: The Bethany staff consistently goes the extra mile for my pets and treats them as if they were one of their own. They work hard to offer my pets the best care. I have two Shibas and they need extra TLC. Bethany's Fear Free training and approach is perfect for them!

Fantastic experience: I went for a second opinion and was very impressed. My anxious dog was comfortable with both Tia and Dr. Rodriguez and even let the vet examine him while on the floor with him. They were both very attentive and explained everything clearly. What a wonderful difference. We consider BFPC our new place of care for our dog.

Fantastic experience: Holy cow! I just left my vet visit with the Dr. Byrd and not only am I relieved, I’m elated and stress free. Lulu is a scared dog, scared of trash bags and basically anything loud, and vets are not her favorite. I’m going to post a photo of her chilling at our vet appt today here as proof that Lulu was cool as a cucumber today. Dr Byrd was IN-CRED-IBLE! Like I may never see another vet again and follow Dr Byrd wherever she goes. The most pleasant, the most informative and so so fair. They were upfront with pricing and worked with me on my insurance. The entire staff was really lovely but our veterinarian really blew my socks off. I will sing the praises very loudly of Dr. Byrd and Bethany family pet clinic. Thank you so much.

The vets here give thorough information about treatment options and are refreshingly honest about overall cost, realistic outcomes, and future needs. I gave a friend a ride to an appointment and was so impressed by how they handled it that all my pets now come here for care, and it has been such a nice change from our previous vet. Pricing is fair and appointments don't feel rushed.

Negative experience: It's a mediocre service for what you pay. They don't give the dogs a vaccination card, just a simple piece of paper. They're very stingy with what they give the customer.

Fantastic experience: My cat needed an annual checkup and flea meds, and I wanted a new vet. We went to Banfield before and they had me drop her off and pick her up, which could take hours as they always overbooked. It was very stressful for my cat, and I wanted the opportunity for real-time interaction with her vet. Dr. Byrd and the entire team worked so hard to make the visit as comfortable as possible for both of us. The clinic is cat-friendly and fear-free certified. We waited on the cat side of the waiting room, and they provided a blanket sprayed with feliway to cover her carrier with, which took the edge off for her. My cat got pets and treats throughout the whole visit and exam, and Dr. Byrd answered all my questions. We got prescriptions and payment squared away in the exam room and walked right out the door. Thank you so much!

Positive experience: Very experienced staff. Can do ultrasounds there. Things sometimes get messed up (example- not order my dog's prescription food when told it's been done. Have long wait times for scheduling tech appts. Most employees are friendly and helpful. Communicating by email works well for me. Been a client since 2003. Vaccine charges have gone way up.

Negative experience: Staff are great but i felt on edge haggling with them about pricing. They tried upselling multiple times for things my cat and I did not need. I also had to call to get my deposit back. I get its a business but it feels very scummy. Wont be returning

The staff is beyond friendly, has always answered my questions with kindness and care, and they are beyond communicative when it comes to new information, policies, or closures. Fantastic experience: We’ve been going to Bethany Family Pet Clinic through the entirety of our dog’s life. He’s had several health incidents from colitis to cancer growth removal and you can tell they genuinely care about the wellbeing of your pet. We recently had to take our dog to an emergency vet as it was outside their hours. They called us after they got a report from that emergency vet just to check on him and see if there was anything they could help us with. It’s the little things that go along way and they have continually shown they care time and time again. We’ll never have another vet care for our pets.

Negative experience: Update: my dog is having a serious emergency and they still wont allow my dog to be seen. This is a living being, it matters more than money, apparently Bethany family vet clinic is only interested in profits. (Even though they have been paid already and made an accounting error). Absolutely heartbreaking. Very disappointing, good service overall however they mixed a payment up that was sent from my parents' account and did not apply it to my account, and I am now unable to receive services for my dog.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly helpful staff. We have a stray cat we brought in they scanned it for free and let me know that it was a neutered male. They are very helpful and even have a registry for lost pets.

Fantastic experience: My cat HATES strangers but she seemed to like the employees at BFPC. My cat is super sweet at home, but has been known to bite casual visitors. I dreaded taking her to see a vet, but she seemed to understand they were trying to help! I've never seen her be so calm around new people. These people definitely know how to handle skittish cats. They got everything sorted out and my fur baby is thriving! I was worried my cat would be traumatized, but when I got her home she went to town on her cat food. She's absolutely fine, probably because the staff at BFPC were so professional. 10/10 They also didn't charge an unreasonable amount so I'll definitely be back for future cat care.

Fantastic experience: The team at BFPC are amazing! My dog Rufus was seen here for a routine physical where discovered that he had cracked his tooth. They were able to fit him in a timely manner for a cleaning and extraction. Surgery day over went well for him, but the following day his energy dipped, he wasn't eating, and his upper lip had begun to swell near his extraction site. The team called to check in on Rufus and we filled them in on what was going on and emailed photos to them. The front desk team then relayed the pictures to the vet, Dr. Byrd. She then fit Rufus in for a same day appt within 2 hours and we were able to get him seen. After some fluids and proper meds, Rufus was back to his normal Aussie self - his energy had returned, his lip had shrunk in size, and he was eating treats. Our experience here has been top notch and we would recommend BFPC to anyone looking for an amazing vet!

Fantastic experience: Incredible experience ! Took my 10-year-old husky mix there for the first time today. They were extremely professional and operate what they call a stress-free Animal Clinic. Dr .bird was an absolute gem and put him at ease and myself with her calm demeanor .He has never done so well at a vet in his life. They had to do a biopsy onto fatty lumps to determine they were non-cancerous. Everything was able to be done the same day. The cost was extremely low and reasonable in my opinion. Fantastic experience: We have always had a lot of dogs. They are a big part of our family, and we only want the best care for them. We were very lucky to find Bethany Family Pet Clinic when we moved to Portland 15 years ago. Through the years, Bethany Family Pet Clinic has become like our second family! Their front desk support staff are always helpful and friendly. Their techs are experienced, and particularly good with dogs who are nervous at the vets, like ours. Our dogs always get lots of love and attention whenever they go to the clinic. And then there's our vet, Dr. Kristin Velasco. She is just exceptional! So knowledgeable and caring -- so willing to go that extra mile! There was the time we contacted her about one of our dogs, Twiggy, who suddenly became very ill. Dr. Velasco thought the symptoms were serious enough, that she wanted to see Twiggy right away. So Dr. Velasco drove to the clinic earlier than scheduled, and met us there with Twiggy. She immediately did bloodwork, ran some tests, and put Twiggy on an IV. Then, because of her experience with symptoms like Twiggy's, she ran a simple test. The results came back positive for Addison's Disease. Which is treatable if caught early. That was 4 years ago. Today, Twiggy is a very healthy, active dog. She is alive because Dr. Velasco acted quickly and was able to diagnose the problem in time. From routine vaccines and teeth cleaning to more serious issues like accidents and sickness, I know Bethany Family Pet Clinic is always there to help our dogs. If I could, I would give them more than 5 stars!

Fantastic experience: I have a very anxious, "poke reactive" little dog with arthritis. She gets monthly injections and they handle her beautifully. And she's more than a handful. Worth every penny.

Negative experience: We took our sweet pup to this vet for all of the 14 years that we had her. We recently had to say goodbye to her, using a home euthanasia service. They contacted the clinic and we never heard from them. When the clinic was being run by the founding vet, they were so kind and compassionate. In the past few years, they have seemed most interested in retail sales and less interested in patient care.

Fantastic experience: Don't let all the new recent reviews scare you away. Yes, they are not quite as prompt in returning a voicemail or email, which hopefully they can address, however, this place is still amazing! Staff are fabulous, make you feel welcomed. I was asked multiple times while waiting if I had been helped. Technicians and vet did great and answered questions and quelled some worries and helped prioritize the medical needs of my pets. If you have budgets they will give you their advice on what to tackle first! Even though I felt bad about my pets issues and not bringing them earlier they never guilted me or made me feel like a bad pet mom. Unlike most clinics that offer great quality care they usually have openings or are able to squeeze you in on some cases to save you from going to the emergency department. Great place.

Negative experience: Absolutely furious with how they decided to handle getting a urine sample from our cat. My cat went through a lot of additional distress because of this facilities prescribed plan. We've loved bringing our cat here before, but I am frustrated with this most recent visit.

Negative experience: We have used this vet clinic for many years and been happy with the vets. Their customer service has gone sour since they changed management. They no longer send prescriptions by fax or email to costco or any other lower cost pharmacy. They make customers drive to the clinic to pick up a written rx. They will not price match lower cost pharmacies. You must use their web pharmacy or drive there to pick up a written rx. When I told them this policy may cause me to change vets, they emailed my vet records to me. Obviously they are not wanting my business.

Negative experience: They refused my prescription for heartgard plus order. I contacted them and they said no longer approved for online order, the only way I have to go to get a paper prescription. I went to pickup the prescription, the staff was very rule, she printed the incorrect information for us, we ordered 12 months and we got 6 months, also put the incorrect weight of my dog. I don’t think it was fun to spend time to come over your Vet for picking up that computer copy. Very disappointed with that and such a very bad service and policy charge. We have been used for 5 years and now I consider to change Vet.

Positive experience: Have switched here for a few months. The positives: We love Dr. Lough, she’s very thorough and a great communicator. Everyone is friendly so far and they’ve been very welcoming. The clinic is very clean and the lobby is spacious which is nice. Other observations: Some staff seem like they are more intentional about the fear free practices than others. Their pharmacy seems a bit disorganized as well, most times I’ve called to refill meds something has gone wrong- either I get a text that my dog’s meds are filled and upon arriving they were not (twice) and I had to wait quite a bit, or after waiting a few days for a notification that the meds were ready I had to call again to check in on them and they were just sitting waiting for us but received no notification. Overall it’s been a nice switch and we are glad we did it. My dog seems to like going to the clinic which is the most important thing, and speaks volumes because he’s usually anxious about the vet :)

Negative experience: Bethany Animal clinic is abysmal! First off, the clinic is ridiculously expensive without a corresponding level of care. They repetitively failed to follow thru in notification of lab results, failure of the Vet physicians to return calls and a staff that if you're lucky to get thru, will not return calls. If you need a thorough assessment or an emergency, look elsewhere (Like Tanasbourne Vet Hospital). And lastly, they don't seem to care about their customers concerns that I've brought up several times. They really deserve NO stars.

Took my cat in for his first ever vet appointment, he was very nervous and the ladies there went above and beyond to accommodate and make him as comfortable as possible. He left happier than when he arrived and we are very happy with the level of care provided by the entire staff!

Fantastic experience: If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Both my dog and cat are patients here, and the staff is nothing short of incredible. I’ve never been to a vet office that prioritizes the animal’s comfort the way this group does, my cat actually enjoys going…what??? We have had a handful of medical situations over the last two years, and this team was incredibly sensitive and timely. On top of that, the financial transparency is amazing and I never feel like they’re trying to do unnecessary work/tests. I simply feel so much better having this team take care of my pets needs!

Fantastic experience: Just wanted to update my review - we moved to Vancouver WA (near salmon creek) almost two years ago and we STILL drive all the way to Bethany (a 45-60 min drive one way traffic depending) to BFPC for our vet visits. We have tried other vets in Vancouver and they are atrocious compared to BFPC, we will never go anywhere else unless we move out of the state! The best vet I've been to - kind, professional and prompt front desk staff, ease of scheduling, fair pricing, professional, friendly and dog-loving vets. I have had the best experiences here and have now seen two of their vets for the same pet. I trust them to do the best and right thing, they inform me and also give the impression that they care. A great clinic!

Fantastic experience: This is by far the best pet clinic I have worked with during the last 20 years, and I have seen a lot because I move a lot. The front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. They also never hesitate to arrange special accommodations for a fearful pet. Speaking about fear: it is their mission to reduce the pet's stress, anxiety, and fear. Everybody (including the vets) take the time the pet needs. They are always patient and friendly. But this is not all: they even offer happy visits free of charge. This is where the pet learns to trust the environment and the staff. I have a semi-friendly cat who always needed to be heavily sedated for a vet visit. After 7 happy visits, he made biscuits immediately after he got his dental. No fear/stress at all. The staff really is amazing. They earn an A+ for their behavioral skills and their medical knowledge is nothing shy of that. A+ as well. One staff member told me that they were here to make the pet feel better. I can testify that they do everything under the sun to achieve this goal.

Fantastic experience: Bethany family has been my families vet for many many years now. Helping with brand new kittens and puppy’s, and holding our hand as some of our elders make their way across the rainbow bridge. It is pricy, but there’s no price tag on top tier care for your babies. They take such thorough care, and you can tell they are very intentional in their practices. I cannot recommend them enough!

Fantastic experience: The providers and staff at Bethany Family Pet Clinic are truly caring and really know me and my dogs. They go the extra mile to treat our pets and are great at communicating with us, and at the same time I appreciate that they don't do some of the upselling/hard-selling that I have experienced at other vets. They focus on what the dog needs.

Fantastic experience: There’s a reason why I drive all the way to Bethany from SE Portland for my pup, because the people and facility at BFPC is superior, I feel I can trust their expertise, and I always leave feeling really great about the experience. Our dog is very nervous and they make every effort to cater to his needs. The other day my pup started vomiting and wouldn’t eat, BFPC was able to get us in that morning and we were so lucky that they were able to give our dog an ultrasound and remove the foreign obstruction. I’ve been taking my dad’s dog here growing up and now I take my own.

Negative experience: HORRIBLE EXPREIENCE. All these people care about is making money. Our dog was misdiagnosed for 4 months. I had to suggest the correct test and once his test came up positive I could not get a response from the vet to receive treatment. No one returns phone calls. ZERO compassion. My three dogs and two cats have been patients for almost 17 years. I'm done moving on. They OVER CHARGE $$$$$.

Fantastic experience: The staff at Bethany Pet Clinic always displays a great deal of passion for our pets. Although a bit of a distance from our home the drive is well worth the time.

Fantastic experience: I really can’t praise Bethany Family Vet Clinic enough. The veterinarian staff there is top notch. They are kind, caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, thorough and honest. They have been my veterinary choice for over a decade. They have seen me and my pets through a variety of situations. They have always made me believe that we are in the most capable of hands. At times when things have warranted a specialist visit they have been honest and have given me really great suggestions, and then worked with those specialists to help with my pets care and needs. I have seen most of the vets in the office and been pleased with them all!

Fantastic experience: BFPC is just the best. Our dog has been coming here since she was 6 weeks old and they always take such good care of her. We continue to drive from NE Portland because she is so much happier here than at the other vet clinic we tried out

Negative experience: Our dog came back traumatized from the experience. We called and email back multiple times to understand what happened. Zero response or follow up. We have been patient for 8 years and I guess as long as everything is fine they are great. If they screw up don’t expect any response. We are looking for a new vet for our pups.

Fantastic experience: I used to dread vet visits due to my sweet rescue dogs extreme fear and anxiety. However I've been completely blown away by the progress she has made since I began brining her to Bethany Family Pet Clinic. They are patient and kind and genuinely care about the animals they treat. Fantastic experience: I have been taking my cats to Bethany Family Pet clinic since the day they opened. I now live 45 minutes away, but will continue bringing my cats to see Dr. Rodriguez as the quality of service and level of expertise is hard to match. All the vet techs display significant levels of care and kindness with all the animals that come into the clinic. The front desk staff are so efficient and caring that you feel supported from your first contact to completion of appointment. Another reason I am a forever client is the cleanliness of all areas of the clinic and there has never been any odors that I have detected. And for those (like me) who need payment options, they do accept Care Credit. Feline or canine will benefit greatly from the excellent care that Bethany Family Pet Clinic will provide. Fantastic experience: My dog is very anxious and BFPC has helped so much with it. They are so patient with her & are great about reading her body language. I have seen multiple vets and I’ve never had an issue. They are never pushy with products and really listen to you.

Fantastic experience: We have been patients of Dr Norman since 1996 and are very pleased with the superior care he has provided our dogs (pugs) over the years. The great care is not limited to Dr. Norman, the other veterinarians, vet techs, and staff are very caring and go out of their way to ensure my puggies are well taken care of in every procedure they have had. From nail trims to emergency visits, I am extremely happy with Bethany Family Pet Clinic.

Positive experience: We have taken our pets to Bethany Family Pet Clinic since 2003. The staff is always friendly and professional and except with one exception many many years ago, we have had only great experiences with all of the veterinarians at this practice. I have recommended this practice to friends and family and will continue to do so. The only reason I changed my initial rating from five stars to four is because: 1. I have had to wait well past my appointment time on more than one occasion. This happened just yesterday. The vet was apologetic, but again, it has happened more than once, and 2. I was told I would get a phone call with an update on my pet's bloodwork and no call has come. I understand everyone is busy. But it might be better to give a range of time ("I will call in the next few days") Rather than give a specific time ("I will call you tomorrow"). Aside from these small details though, I appreciate all the people who work hard at the clinic, past and present.

Fantastic experience: Thank you for being so caring and gentle with my boy. Definitely one happy pet parent. A year later I still love this place, one of cats was definitely not the easiest, they didn’t push her to do more,gave her a break, even meds, and recommendations to help calm her for next time. Definitely love the fear free and helping pets and owners deal with fearful animals. They answered all my questions, and most importantly they listened to my concerns of their ears
