Fantastic experience: Our pet has been experiencing an allergic reaction and GI issues for about 2 weeks now. We’ve brought her to numerous vets. We had to bring her in to Village East while visiting in Evansville. The Dr. who treated our pet was really great. Very thorough and informative for us, and brought a breadth and depth of knowledge that we do not often experience. They clearly cared about getting treatment right, while being considerate of our expenses and not doing things that were not necessary. The staff overall were kind and caring which we also really appreciated. Will definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: They are always so professional and got my baby right in. We are out of town but have used them each time we are in town and need a vet. They are so good with Sampson (my dog) and he is so comfortable with all of them. The girls are so great with him too. He’s a very large Rottweiler but they aren’t scared of him and treat him so good. He loves all of them. We would recommend this vet office to anyone who needs a vet. They are very reasonable with their pricing too. We don’t go anywhere else when in town!

Fantastic experience: Once again Village East Animal Hospital has blown me away with their compassion and generosity. A few nights ago my husband noticed our cat was using the litter box often but not actually being able to pee. We had taken him to the emergency vet the night before and been given medication and assured he was fine, but I was freaking out. I called Village East Animal Hospital 20 minutes before the closed, and they told me to come right in without hesitation. They took our little gremlin back right away, assuring me they would take good care of him despite the fact that he was attempting to scratch them to death. We were seen promptly, treated with incredible kindness and they took all my concerns very seriously. All the staff was incredibly reassuring from the wonderful girls behind the desk to the vet herself who spent about 10 minutes reassuring me our baby was getting the best treatment possible at the moment and although he would be uncomfortable, he would ultimately probably be ok. Their fantastic service didn’t end there, today they called me in the morning to check in and ask how our cat was doing. They gave us some follow up advice and gave us food for him that would hopefully help prevent these flare ups in the future. We have been going to see them for 6 years with both cats and dogs, in all sorts of emergency’s and routine check ups. They even remember to use the smallest gage of needle on my dog because she’s a little baby and will cry if they poke her with a big one. We couldn’t recommend them enough!

Fantastic experience: I brought my cat here for a second opinion and was very pleased by the friendliness of the staff. The vet I saw was very thorough in his explanation of what my pet was going through and went above and beyond helping me to remedy the situation.

Fantastic experience: My fiancé took a stray kitten to Village East to have a very large and serious hernia repaired. The entire staff was great, the facility welcoming, but most impressive is the knowledge, skill and caring manner of Dr. Dorroh. He performed a delicate surgery on my cat the previous week and his great work brought us back for little Abbi. And Abbi is doing great! I highly recommend the Village East team!

Fantastic experience: I absolutely loved Dr.Jill, she let me talk about all my concerns with kitty and didn't make me feel rushed. It really matters to me that the vets I see take an interest in my animals and show that they care. I do feel like vet prices are to high and more animals would have homes if they could afford them. Maybe someday there will be a solution to that problem.

Negative experience: Poor service. Called to make an appointment. Talked to Shelly who seemed less interested in being helpful when asked about a possible procedure told to "best look around". I think they would benefit from having the actual Doctor make that call and atleast take an interest in looking at the issue. Very disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Kemp, Dr. Dorroh and everyone I have come in contact with at Village East Animal Hospital are amazing. I have been going here since 2016 and they have taken the best care of my 2 cats. We are entering my cats senior years which has come with more frequent unplanned visits. Village East hears my concerns, makes me feel validated and I know when I take my babies there they are getting the best care. You might be able to go somewhere cheaper but they are upfront about their pricing and worth every penny. I'd recommend them to any pet parent.

Negative experience: I took my Standard Poodle in because I knew she had a yeast infection in her right ear. After I arrived we were placed in an exam room. After a few minutes a young g woman, I believe a veterinarian tech came in and told me they needed to swab her right ear to check her for a yeast infection which came back a short time later as positive. The veterinarian came in and checked her ears and told me she had an infection and told me they would send me home with something to clean her ears with and a medication to put in her ear for 7 days. When I went to check out they charged me $240 which I feel is exorbitant amount for the services provided. I was never told what any of the costs would be prior to them performing the services. When I called to question this the lady I spoke to and the vet said they should have told me the costs prior to performing the tests but they were so busy they were trying to keep the vet on schedule. I am very disappointed in how this all occurred. I love Dr Jill but I was unable to see her due to her schedule being full. This is another example of a local business being swallowed up by a corporation and losing the personal touch that they used to have when Dr Melchiors & of course Dr Jill ran things.

Positive experience: Friendly staff. Waited about 20 mins after appointment time to be seen. Way more expensive that anticipated. About 2x more!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Dorroh did an amazing job taking care of our dog, Lilly. We drove down from La Porte, IN to get her ACL repaired for a good price. He was extremely helpful and kind throughout the process. He knew we traveled far to see him so he gave us his personal phone number just in case we have any questions. 10/10, very glad we trusted him with our girl.

Fantastic experience: Ii know my profile says Lisa Bratcher but I’m Lisa Holder and I now have brown hair. But wanted them to see my review and remember who I was. I was just there this afternoon. I called and told them my cat Sophia was acting sick and I thought she had lost her sight. She had been running into furniture and walls and getting herself stuck in a corner. They said can you come at 3pm. Yes. By 2pm Sophia had gotten worse and I took her on in. They got to me immediately. Took back and immediately put her on oxygen. She was in respiratory distress and was her eyes were not responsive. She was blind..Given she had been getting worse for a couple of days and now she’s got her tongue out and panting. She’s struggling to breathe. They said no matter what was wrong that she would not have regained any eye sight. It could’ve been high blood pressure, stroke, seizure, brain tumor, any number of things. Also, she’s lost 2lbs since November which they said was 25% of her body weight which is a lot.. and that’s not good. So given even if they treated her to find out what’s exactly wrong she wouldn’t be the same. She was 13 years old and had a very good life. I’ll miss that sweet girl but the Vet and staff were so kind and sweet and caring as I said my goodbyes to my sweet girl. They even gave me a little vial of her fur for a keepsake. Thank you Village East to everyone that helped me through this difficult decision.

Fantastic experience: Our pupper Gizzy had a dental procedure on 06/11/2025, we were very nervous due to his age, but everyone was so accommodating and treated us and him amazing. We have been using Village Wast for almost 20 years and cannot imagine taking our fur babies anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: I love Village East. The staff is exceptional. They go out of their way to be helpful and be of assistance, and always with a smile and friendly chatting. Dr Bill Melchoirs was our vet and he has given our pets exceptional care over the years. One of many things I appreciate about care here is that all teaches about what is going on with our dog right along with the normal conversation. We met our new Vet, Dr Hinsel. It is so obvious that she loves her profession just by the way she touches these animals. Now we have Lucy and she is was feisty as Sadie was gentle. I can appreciate and love Lucy’s own distinct personality just for herself and especially now that she is 3+ and is calmer and more attentive to what we tell her. I highly recommend this Veterinary office for their knowledge and caring and smiles.

Fantastic experience: The staff as usual was thoughtful and thorough. My pet was anxious traveling to the clinics, but was calm and content on the ride home. This is due to concern and professionalism of all we come in contact with.

Fantastic experience: Despite not taking in walk-ins normally they found an opening for my cat within just a couple minutes of arriving and where very understanding! The vet was very nice and explained things well, never tried to pressure me into paying for any extra services or treatments either.

Positive experience: Should really have a better practice with quoting what the cost is going to be. I was told $625 and then at the end it was almost 1,000. I’m sure most customers would make different decisions based on what its actually going to be at the end. Should do another price quote before treatment. I would have made different decisions had I known. $625 was already very steep cost for me. Aside from that the staff was friendly and the doctor was nice. They got us in quickly with an urgent matter and the visit was fast.

Fantastic experience: My mother and I have taken all of our pets to Village East since Dr. Kollker first opened the practice in the 70's. More than 25 pets and still counting. It has always been a good experience with each vet, tech and front office personnel. We appreciate the dedicated and loving staff. Update: I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Melchiors on our last visit. If you haven't had the opportunity to interact with him you have missed out on the most unique experience at a Veterinary appointment. He loves to teach. He is very kind and engaging with a wonderful sense of humor. He cares about the human as well. I thank you so much. Keep doing what you do.

Fantastic experience: Great neighborhood veterinary clinic. The doctor and all the staff were professional. Facility was very clean and comfortable.

Positive experience: Good enough care. I took my cat for a wellness exam and I felt like I kind of had to ask for the vet to look at certain things. And it ended up costing over $200 just for a wellness exam and 2 shots

Fantastic experience: My cat had an ear infection/hematoma. They got me in same day which I truly appreciated since I had never been there before. The doctor explained everything well and gave me a treatment plan. I will come back in the future!

Fantastic experience: I have taken my 11 year old cat and my 2 year old dog here for annual checkups after moving to the area, and the staff was super friendly and very caring towards my animals, and I. I felt really good about the quality of care my animals received and the health information that was provided. The pricing is also pretty good compared to other vet prices I have had in the past. I travel a lot for work, so sometimes I have to move my animals with me when I'm located in another state for months at a time, so they've had a few different vets. I think my animals were also happy with the experience and forgot about receiving their shots as soon as we got in the car for home.

Fantastic experience: Genuinely friendly staff, readily answer questions, and they don't push unnecessary treatments. Prices are great, but not suspiciously low. The front room does look like a gym locker room, but that makes it easier to keep clean, which they do. I didn't see fur or grease smears from other pets like I have at other vet offices.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Village East for many years. My almost ten months old redbone coonhound puppy, Hazel, was just spayed on Friday at Village East with Dr Dorroh. First of all I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr Dorroh. He is so knowledgeable and clearly loves animals. He immediately puts you and your pet at ease and I had no doubt that Hazel was in the best hands possible. The staff are caring and informative, answered all of my questions. Some have been there a while and always remember me and my pet by name and treat Hazel as they would their own dog. Even though it’s a routine surgery it can still be scary but it went very smoothly and Hazel is home and doing really well. I’m very thankful.

Fantastic experience: Very nice staff and the veterinarian was kind. I was definitely was pleased with how gentle they were with my kitten I had brought in. Will definitely be back with my other cats. Glad to have found a good veterinarian in Evansville.

Dr. Kemp and Dr. Dorroh were both knowledgeable and compassionate during my Lab’s end-of-life needs. They both went above and beyond in several ways, doing everything they could for my sweet dog. The other staff were friendly and efficient, also. I appreciate you all-it meant so much to us.

My mom found this place based on reviews, so we went because my cat needed to go. They were absolutely amazing and so kind to us. Explained everything to us and addressed our needs. Very affordable! Dr. Dorroh was very sweet and actually cares about your pet, because he knows they are our lives. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who is in need for a new vet!

Positive experience: My first visit to this Vet, we moved from Ohio recently and I thought cost was too high for office visit -$85 in Ohio $40 per visit. Heart worm pills cost $60 more than they did 6 months ago in Ohio. I ask about motion sickness pills and Vet told me he would give me a couple samples to try and if they worked he would write a script for them. When I got home I noticed he charged me $85 for sample pills for motion sickness. I called the office and complained about being charged and they said if I brought pills back in today I would be able to return for a refund. Not starting off to a positive start with this new Vet.
