Our comment from InfoVet about Pet's Friend Animal Clinic:

Pet's Friend Animal Clinic provides compassionate and thorough veterinary care, with a staff that is both knowledgeable and dedicated to the well-being of your pets. Many clients have praised the ability of the veterinarians, particularly Dr. Smith and Dr. Malone, for their exceptional communication skills and thorough examinations.

Highlights of the clinic include:

  • Welcoming Environment: A clean, comfortable clinic with separate waiting areas for cats and dogs, as well as a friendly and warm atmosphere.
  • Attentive Staff: The staff is noted for their kindness and willingness to go above and beyond to accommodate pets' needs, ensuring a positive experience for both pets and owners.
  • Thorough Care: Clients have reported excellent follow-up care and detailed explanations regarding treatment options, fostering a sense of trust and transparency.
  • Responsive Communication: The clinic is known for its prompt responses to inquiries and follow-ups with clients after visits.

However, there have been some concerns regarding the transparency of pricing and customer service interactions, particularly with front desk receptionists. While the quality of veterinary care is often highlighted, some clients have expressed dissatisfaction with how appointments and pricing details are communicated.

Overall, Pet's Friend Animal Clinic is a recommended choice for pet owners seeking quality veterinary care, though potential clients may want to clarify appointment details and pricing upfront.

Fantastic experience: While the decision to leave my longtime veterinary hospital after it sold was tough, I'm so glad I did! I could not be happier with the care and communication from PFAC so far. They've made the transition seamless. Dr Malone is fabulous and the support staff has been great. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I was pleasantly surprised at such vet clinic. Several receptionists, my call was immediately answered, thoughtful and informative work of veterinarian! The first clinic visit was very positive. Curtains on doors to see if other animals are in the hall to avoid conflicts. Anyway, my super friendly dog sniffed the others and long barked at sculpture of cat above the door. She was happy to have all kind of entertainment and treats!

Fantastic experience: Pet’s Friends Animal Clinic has always been so accommodating and supportive. I have two large dogs and one has a LOT of energy and they have always been so kind and patient with both of them. They are never too busy to take a call and if they don’t immediately have an answer to my question they are very quick to make sure they get me the information that I need. So grateful to know they truly care about every animal that comes through their doors.

Fantastic experience: Always friendly staff with me and with the animals and always takes the time to explain any new information. I never feel rushed or unheard when I have questions with my dogs! I would recommend them.

Fantastic experience: My visit was absolutely amazing! Everyone was helpful, patient, empathetic and informative. I have a dog who is difficult at the vet and they accommodated us very well. This efficient team made me feel very about confident bringing my dog to them for future visits!

Negative experience: UPDATE:To be honest, words cannot express the distress we’ve been through. Since our last visit, we’ve had to seek help at other clinics, undergoing repeat blood work—due to this vet reporting low neutrophils—as well as a FNA. The months of anxiety and worry we have endured as pet parents are beyond words. All of this was entirely avoidable and stems from this vet’s technical incompetence and utter lack of responsibility. They just never disclosure all those unprofessional measures they took during the blood draw and the vaccine. I just do not understand how they can treat a pet like that. ======= Avoid this place if you value your pet’s safety. My dog suffered a traumatic blood draw here that resulted in a persistent lump that hasn't healed in 2 months. The clinic's response to this injury has been incredibly cold and evasive. Instead of taking responsibility for their poor technique and lack of professional judgment, they blamed my dog for "jumping and moving." It is the vet’s job to manage a pet’s stress , not to brute-force a procedure until the pet is injured. ===================================== I am very disappointed with the lack of transparency and medical gaslighting. My dog developed a persistent bump on the hind leg following a routine visit for vaccines and a blood draw. After further investigation, it became clear that the staff made multiple failed attempts at the draw, eventually blowing the vein. Now, the clinic claims "a blood draw cannot cause a persistent bump." “Blood draw cannot cause persistent bump” is medically incorrect. While a simple bruise fades, a traumatic draw with significant subcutaneous leakage can lead to an Organized Hematoma or Subcutaneous Fibrosis. This is when the body replaces the unabsorbed blood with scar tissue, creating a permanent or long-term lump. Furthermore, the lab results showed low Neutrophils—a known indicator of mechanical cell damage (pseudoneutropenia) caused by a difficult or traumatic extraction. None of these difficulties were disclosed to me at discharge. Because they withheld this information, I missed the critical window to monitor the site or provide immediate comfort/cold compresses. When I reached out for clarification, I was met with excuses about the dog being "too wiggly" etc. If the staff felt they could not perform the procedure safely or successfully, they should have stopped and, at the very least, notified me. As a worried parent, I expected honesty, not excuses.

Negative experience: What can I say about this place. Don’t let the good ratings fool you, most of them are old. There has been a steady decline over the last year in the quality of service this clinic has been providing all the way from the doctors that attend to your pet to the front desk people. I was informed 30 minutes before the appointment that the doctor is not available for the appointment that’s made months in advance and the next possible appointment would be a week later, or with a different doctor the next day. They had asked us to give our dog sedatives (which they charged me $120 for) the night before and 2 hrs before a 8 am appointment, which again the clinic requested as there will be less dogs, which we promptly did and then they have the audacity to cancel the appointment 30min before the schedule time. If it was the other way around and the customer had to cancel appt 30 mins before, I am pretty sure there would have been a rescheduling fee. What irked me was that the front desk person calling was super rude for some freaking reason and acted like she was doing me a favor for giving me other “options”, which was the last straw. Mind you, I have been getting constant calls and messages for last few days to confirm everything from our side. This is not the first time they have rescheduled at the last minute either. For the amount of money they charge, the service has been dismal, even Vetco provides better service than this at the moment. I will be taking my business elsewhere and will make sure to inform my friends who started using this facility after my recommendation to take their business elsewhere as well. The only good thing here was Dr. Smith. This review is not based on just one single bad experience but a series of experiences over the last year of working with these people. I am a very reasonable person and for me to take time out of my day to write a bad review really says something.

Fantastic experience: Update: Had an appointment with Dr. Enborn and she was pleasant and didnt try to upsell me on tests or meds I didnt need. :) Great experience all around with this clinic from the process of making an appointment, to warmly being greeted, the absolute patience both the vet tech and Dr. Malone had to hear my Sammie's illness story up until we saw them. You can tell that Dr. Malone really does care and doesn't push services to make money. She also did a thorough examination based on the issue my dog was having which put me at ease that she wouldn't miss anything. The wait was short to be roomed and even shorter once we were in the room for the vet tech to get vitals and ask questions. I loved chatting with the front desk staff who made me feel less alone and crazy in this journey with my dog's fever of unknown origin. When I called afterward for questions about medication, the call was picked up promptly (I was put on hold with another vet for 26 minutes the other day) and they really did call to follow up and provide an answer once they spoke with Dr. Malone. I've worked in customer facing jobs before and know how difficult it can be, so I do appreciate the sincerity and kindness the staff showed us today. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!

Ruby Daniels Posted on Google 3 months ago

Positive experience: Overall, the visit was fairly smooth. The staff was friendly and patient with my newly adopted foster dog, and the appointment process was quick. I was told to bring a stool sample, but I was not informed that submitting it would incur an additional charge. I assumed it was part of the routine exam, so the lack of upfront transparency at checkout was disappointing. My dog was taken to the back for vaccinations without prior communication, and I would have preferred the shots be administered in the room with me present. I had also requested the three-year rabies vaccine, but only learned at checkout that he had received the one-year version instead. Additionally, some recommendations for food and allergy medications seemed to be based on past records rather than my dog’s current needs. I was also not asked to schedule a follow-up appointment or given guidance on next steps. Despite these concerns, the clinic handled my dog gently, and the overall experience was professional. I currently take my nine-year-old dog to Adobe Pet Hospital and was hoping to find a new vet closer to home. However, for a similar price—minus the transparency issues—we may be better off continuing with our original veterinarian.

Fantastic experience: Pet’s Friend has treated my current dog and the two previous ones. They are very attentive, treat my dogs very gently and are very good at explaining everything they are finding and what needs to be done to help them. I highly recommend them.

Negative experience: Update to review listed below. Today, I received an email from David, the office manager, informing me that I have 30 days of service remaining with this extremely petty and unprofessional office. This is the same David who for the life of him could not see his way to follow up with me months ago, as he stated he would. Instead of dealing with the issue of rude Angela, they decided to continue their pettiness with a customer. The hilarious thing about this action is that I previously stated to two of the over-the-top rude staff that I would not be patronizing this business any longer The silly email was a waste of my time and theirs. No longer returning should not be that difficult to understand, at least I think so. Horrible customer service experience with Angela and Dr. Koski. The customer service and compassion has gone way down since I first started taking my dog to Pet’s Friend, years ago, and the doctor doesn’t mind it. The circumstance involved a phone call regarding my dog’s refill. Instead of Angela answering the question she began to voice her incorrect assumption that I ordered a year’s worth of medicine. Angela then stated she would have approved the refill if my pet had an appointment scheduled. I explained I don’t work there and didn’t know the procedure and asked why she didn’t let me know. Angela implied it wasn’t her job to advise me. Dr. Koski did a follow up call per my request and was as equally condescending, not at all hearing my frustration with Angela’s demeanor.

Fantastic experience: My dog had an emergent health concern. I called and they saw my pet the same day. Dr, Davidson was thorough, gave me all scenarios and possible outcomes before seeing my pet. Fortunately, the procedure went well, and we were in and out within the hour. Everyone was super nice! Thank you so much!

Fantastic experience: Very knowledgeable, professional, patient and courteous doctors and staff. Had to take our shih-poo puppy in for an eye infection. Office is very busy but they found time to squeeze us in. Wait time was minimal and they were very thorough in examining him. Asked me a lot of questions and we were able to determine that he also had an ear infection. They cleaned and treated the ears and our puppy hasn’t scratched his ears since. Also, they’re amazing with animals. I’ve never seen him be so cooperative. Would highly recommend without hesitation.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Davidson and the whole team were great as usual

Mingfei Gao Posted on Google 5 months ago

Negative experience: Reply to the owner: If you think "limited touching" was the best you can do, you should just suggest the client to leave, instead of rushing the exam and charge 100 dollars anyway. I don't think it is fair to ask us pay another 70 dollars to finish whatever should be covered in the "unfinished" exam. It just does not make sense. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I’ve been taking my cats to this clinic for several years. I have to decide to look for another clinic after a very disappointing experience. We had very good experiences with Dr. Wang who is very caring and professional. Our cat is shy and nervous, so we were advised to drug her before the visit. We tried our best to do it to make the process easier. When there were times we couldn’t do it, Dr Wang was always very patient and keep her high standard of the exam. Last appointment, we were assigned to a different doctor. We couldn’t drug our cat because we ran out of medicine. The doctor seemed scared and decided to rush the exam with limited touching of our cat. The doctor said she was recently attacked by another cat and I feel sorry for her. But, our cat does not have any behavioral issue and never attacked anyone. She is a senior cat, we bring her to the clinic not just for weighing, we expect at least some grabbing to flag out some early issues if there is any. The doctor could have ask us to revisit in another time instead of rush the exam. The clinic could have explicitly tell us “no drug your cat, no visit”. Then, we would just reschedule when we found we ran out of medicine. We did not know we have to drug our cat for a full service. We thought it was just recommended. Is there a policy like that? The clinic could have invite us back to finish the exam after we complained. Instead, they asked us to pay another 70 dollars to schedule another visit, given that we already paid 100 dollars for the “limited touching exam”. It seems to me that the clinic does not care their client at all. During the conversation with the office manager, he agreed that the exam was limited. But, all he could do was bring us back for another visit and charge another 70, cause he wanted to be fair to their staff. To be honest, I think the clinic should pay this 70, not the staff, nor the client. We don’t need any refund. We just want a full service or just finish where we were left off. It doesn’t make sense to pay another 70.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I remember speaking with you and truly appreciate how much you care about your cat’s well being.

During your visit, our doctor completed as much of the exam as your cat comfortably allowed. When a pet becomes too anxious, we sometimes have to limit handling to keep the experience safe and low-stress for everyone involved. This is part of our standard care approach and helps ensure pets continue to feel safe coming here.

The pre-visit medication we recommend is meant to make that process easier and allow for a full, thorough exam. When it’s not given, we do our best with what the pet tolerates and, if needed, arrange a follow-up visit. After our conversation, I offered a discounted return appointment with your preferred doctor so we could complete the remaining parts once your cat was calm and comfortable.

I understand you were hoping for a different resolution, but we do our best to stay consistent and fair to both our clients and our team. We truly appreciate your feedback and would be happy to see your cat again in the future under calmer circumstances.

Fantastic experience: This is our second experience with PFAC. We have a new rescue 2 years old kitty. It was our first visit to the vet. The front desk staff was very welcoming. The technician was particularly helpful and empathetic to our cat's story. The vet was thorough and took the time and answered all our questions. One thing to mention was the price for nail clipping , $30 with a visit but when done separately $30 +24 ( for tech fees ). The second price I find very steep, so I will have to learn to do it myself.

Fantastic experience: I’m incredibly impressed by the staff and level of service here! Was in a bind and needed new primary care for my epileptic dog, Jax, asap. A staff member reached out immediately after I filled out the form/texted and she did everything she could to squeeze me in next day which was a lifesaver. They called all my past vets and neurologists and made sure they read and understood Jax’s seizure history in detail. Dr Koski is so amazing. Jax is usually scared of the vet and by the end of the visit, he was happily walking around with tail wagging. She made him feel so at ease. She was incredibly thorough in understanding his history and explaining things as well as suggesting tests and medications which I was aligned with. I lost my tech job so I’m budgeting and she was understanding and only suggested what was necessary and gave me tips on how to save money on Jax’s medications. I’m so glad I found Pets Friend and I’m happy this will be Jax’s primary care vet. We’ve been to many vets since we’ve moved around and Pets Friend is the best in the Bay Area!

Fantastic experience: The most amazing experience! My dog is a basket case at the vet. Has to be muzzled, and still yelps and won’t let anyone touch her. Dr Koski is a miracle worker! She had so much patience and caring. She was able to figure out the best approach to get my dog to allow her to pet her, get her heart listened to, and then sedate her so she could be worked on. Our former vet wouldn’t take the time to try to help her. We are so grateful! In addition to the care received today, and in the past for our other non problematic dog, the office staff and vet techs are amazing! Great communication, and just nice to work with. Five stars is not a high enough rating!

Fantastic experience: I am beyond pleased with a Pet’s Friend animal clinic! I have been going elsewhere for a while, but it just seemed like they were more about the money than about providing great services for the animals and so I decided to look elsewhere and found a Pet’s Friend animal clinic. What really touched me so much was after I recently had to have my 10-year-old dog euthanized, I completely forgot, in the moment, to cut a piece of her hair that I could keep in memory of her. Well, after I picked up her clay paw print, there was a card included with beautiful messages from all the office staff and doctors, as well as a small vile with a lock of her hair. I was so happy with that and will never forget it! Truly caring staff and doctors!

Negative experience: We were taking both of our pitbulls to Pet Friends but will no longer continue care at this clinic. Our dog gets anxious at the vet and I understand that it is tough to do all it takes at an exam. However, what I experienced 2 years in a row for the yearly check up is just irresponsible. Besides giving my dogs unnecessary vaccinations yearly and trying to prescribe all kinds of lotions and medication at every visit, the vet tech was unable to perform a simple vaccination and dropped the syringe twice. At that point my dog was actually just happily licking his peanutbutter. At no point did the vet step in or help out. Anyone would get anxious with 4 people on top of him. It was a horrible experience for both my dog and ourselves. We stepped out of the room and all we heard was banging and crying from my dog. My husband ended up doing the Bordetella (intranasal) vaccination himself since they were unable to do so. We left with only 2 vaccinations done and no blood work done.

Fantastic experience: Excellent care for our whole furry family! We recently rescued a homeless cat. Our vet was amazing with a health care plan to get him on the right track. The whole team had patience with him and explained everything well!

Annie Zhang Posted on Google 8 months ago

Fantastic experience: Love this vet! My pup is very anxious and can be reactive when he's scared, even at the vet he's been to all his life. That said, everyone from the vet techs, admins, and veterinarians are super accommodating. We've worked out a few tricks over the visits to keep him calm throughout procedures and I really appreciate the notes they've been taking to make sure he doesn't feel scared. All in all, great practice!

Fantastic experience: I can not say enough good things about this clinic, their staff and the care we have received. We have 3 cats, 2 of which have had some health concerns over the years. With our previous vet we felt things were not being addressed appropriately. We ultimately tested out Pet's Friend Animal Clinic with one of our cats, to see if getting a second opinion on ongoing care would make a difference. It did, almost immediately. I knew after our first visit that we would be transitioning our other 2 cats over to Pets Friend Animal Clinic. We have now had all 3 with Pets Friend Animal Clinic for nearly 2 years. 1 of our cats has had multiple blockages and had a PU surgery a few years ago. Another has had challenges with his weight, most of his life, as well as needing regular checks on his mouth as he has had a few tooth resorptions. They aren't an easy bunch and we do our best to ensure they are getting the care they need to live a long and happy life. We have found all of the Veterinarians at the clinic to be very thorough and attentive to all of their needs. Cost aligns with what we see at most other places. We have mostly worked with Dr. Smith and have loved it. She is so attentive to their needs, we feel like we have really been able to build a relationship with her about their care. One thing we have always hated with other Vet's is feeling like we are starting from ground zero at each visit. Reminding them of all we do and all of their challenges. But Dr. Smith really has taken the time to get to know our boys and it goes a long way to getting them the care they need.

Fantastic experience: Our last vet misdiagnosed our dog twice, overcharged us and never spent more than 2 minutes with us so we decided it would be better to try a new one. We are glad we did, they are very friendly and seem to actually care for your pet. The staff are very friendly. I would definitely recommend

Michal Reuven Posted on Google 9 months ago

Negative experience: I had a bad experience with Dr. Enborn. Following my first visit she checked my dog and provided a few medicines. A few days after my dog started yelping in pain. I sent her a couple of emails and called the clinic twice. She never called back and email me back that it should not be from the medications and I should tricked cone for 2 weeks. I asked what does the cone has to do with him yelping and received no reply nor a call. I ended up taking him to emergency that day. Looks like there is no patient / doctor relations in this clinic. I have decided to move on...

Fantastic experience: Great place for your pets! They love and value all animals and their owners. Great care given, large staff to meet all your pets needs! Love the two different waiting areas for cats & dogs! Normally very fast! I think my most favorite part, the vets get down on the floor with my dog. I’m an Oncology RN, so I’d never get down on the floor of a hospital, but in a pet clinic, love that they are down on their level playing with them, checking them all out and doing all their assessments while on the floor instead of a cold metal table! The best!!

Fantastic experience: Pet’s Friend Animal Clinic has the BEST Veterinarians. It’ starts with the Vets and continues with the vet technicians, the office management. No matter who is helping you, if they have years of experience or first day, they are knowledgeable and helpful. Whatever the reason is, for taking your fur-baby, they will be in the best hands and care possible. We have been going to Pet’s’s Friend for many years and will continue doing so. We always have a piece of mind when one of our pets is in their care. Sincerely, Laura Meadows

Fantastic experience: I adore this clinic so much! I moved here August 2024 and was on the lookout for a good vet for my kitty. I had noticed how highly rated this place was and decided to give them a try! They definitely live up to the good reviews, all the staff are very kind and the doctors that I've seen have been extremely informative and reassuring. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Smith was so thorough, knowledgeable, and took the time to help explain my options for my cat’s chronic skin issues/allergies journey. The nurse was also super sweet and attentive. I felt supported and would definitely come back. It felt like everyone really cared and were in this work for the right reasons. This was my first time here given I just moved to the area, and Dr. Smith is going to be our regular vet. Love this place so much!

Fantastic experience: I brought my cat in for a check-up and was seen by Dr. Wang. She was incredibly gentle and patient with my cat, which made the whole experience much less stressful for both of us. Dr. Wang took the time to explain everything clearly and answered all of my questions with care. The staff at the clinic were also friendly and professional. Fantastic experience: My dog LOVES going to Pet's Friend for his checkups. The office staff and techs are friendly, and the doctors are very caring. They're happy to get down on the floor with my dog to make sure he feels calm and comfortable. Pet's Friend may be a bit more expensive than some other clinics, but the care is excellent.

Fantastic experience: Not all vets are created equal- and this one stands out as top notch. A little pricier but worth the payment for their outstanding expertise, flexibility with booking, and great advice if you call with an issue. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: The service was great! My dog was seen quickly. The staff were all welcoming and nice. The vet was very informative and sweet to my girl. They made it streamlined and helped with our claim for insurance. Definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: I’m so grateful for the team at Pet's Friend! The staff is incredibly caring, helpful, and always makes me feel supported. They’re prompt in responding to emails and take the time to answer any follow-up questions after visits. I truly appreciate how they prioritize my pet’s well-being without recommending unnecessary or extreme procedures. They also go the extra mile by sharing detailed information and helpful resources so I can better understand my pet’s health. Thank you for being such a wonderful, thoughtful team! :)

Fantastic experience: I brought my cat in for x-rays as a first time patient. They were able to book me an appointment quickly over the phone. Once we were there, they examined my cat promptly and followed up with x-rays right away. I will definitely continue to use their services in the future.

Fantastic experience: I took my dog here for the first time yesterday and I could not be happier with the level of service and care - from the helpful front desk to the amazing vet who went above and beyond to help my dog who has been in pain for awhile now. Her level of care made me cry of happiness that my dog is finally getting the level of care she deserves. I was getting a run around at my old vet, and needed to fight to try to get the care she needs. You won’t have to do that here and that means everything ♥️

Alexander Mariscal Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Was very amazing, they always have a consistently nice experience and even have a waiting room to separate both cats and dogs! The staff are always very sweet and easy to talk to. I don’t even have to wait long for my appointment. brought both of my cats and I got in then got out

Fantastic experience: We had a very warm and welcoming visit with Dr. Smith. We own a giant breed cane corso and have found many vets are wary of such large dogs so we were glad to see how Dr. Smith approached our dog who is super loving and friendly. When blood needed to be drawn, it was done effortlessly and easily. As usual, our bill was high, but when have you ever visited a vet who charges little? We are grateful to have found a clinic we’re comfortable going to. Thank you, Dr. Smith!

Negative experience: We visited the clinic after our dog suffered a leg bite. The initial surgery seemed routine, but complications arose when the wound became infected, requiring a second treatment. We were dismayed when the clinic attempted to charge us nearly full price for this follow-up procedure, necessitating our intervention to contest the cost, as it stemmed from a post-surgical complication. Frustratingly, after the second procedure to treat the infection, the clinic provided a cone that was too small. This allowed our dog to remove his bandage and ingest the honey covered bandage (to reduce inflammation). Separately, we were charged for an X-ray that had been explicitly offered free of charge, forcing another dispute with management. The overall experience was marked by poor communication, a significant lack of cost transparency, and feeling like we had to constantly fight for fair treatment despite multiple errors by the clinic. Very disappointing and stressful.

Fantastic experience: A wonderful clinic! The staff was friendly, helpful, and listened to my questions patiently. Lab results were provided quickly. Everyone was very reassuring and kind!

Negative experience: I just got off the phone with Pet's friend animal clinic. They refuse to fax proof of my dog's heartworm negative test to the discount online reseller. They claim they don't have the manpower to fax this proof (which I have paid hundreds of dollars for the blood work) -- they want me to do the legwork and have the reseller contact them. This annoys me greatly and is the first time in my life I had a vet tell me they are too busy to fax the blood work or call the reseller. I wonder how much time it is worth to them to get a review for poor service.

Fantastic experience: I can’t thank them enough for being so kind to my older cat. Other than vaccinations she hasn’t been in the vet office. They were excellent at letting me know the options for her and mapping out a care plan that was realistic. At a scary time. Everyone in the office did everything right.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Pet’s Friend. I have a super scared and reactive rescue dog, the staff at the clinic were all so understanding and accommodating to my dog. Dr. Smith is so kind and patient even though my dog did not want to be there. I would highly recommend Dr. Smith if you have any pet that needs a little bit of extra patience! Thank you so much Pet’s Friend Animal Clinic.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful and peaceful small animal clinic. The appointment has minimal wait time, which is perfect considering most animal clinics don't seem to respect clients' time and appointments. I am new to the area and have been taking my two cats here for all their medical needs. It's a bit pricey, but the staff is knowledgeable and always addresses issues correctly and promptly. The clinic is clean and well-maintained, creating a comfortable environment for both pets and owners. The veterinarians and staff are friendly, compassionate, and professional, making sure to explain everything thoroughly and answer any questions you might have. They genuinely care about the animals and go above and beyond to provide excellent care. Additionally, they offer a wide range of services, from routine check-ups and vaccinations to more complex procedures. I appreciate the convenience of having everything my cats need in one place. The clinic also provides follow-up calls to check on your pets after their appointments, showing their commitment to the well-being of their patients. Overall, despite the higher cost, the quality of care and the peace of mind knowing your pets are in good hands make it worth it. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone in the area looking for top-notch veterinary care for their furry friends.

Fantastic experience: I have lost count of how many times over the years and for how many different fur babies that Pet’s Friend has been there for us in our most desperate times. Forever grateful for the wonderful care you’ve given our family all these years. Looking forward to many more years with many more fur babies.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Tatiyana Smith was amazing! I have a very challenging cat who likes to bite and scratch. Dr. Smith was so patient with her and we did as much of the exam as we could with her together in the exam room. I never felt rushed. My cat felt as comfortable as she can get snd I think that is why when they took her in the back for her bloodwork and shots it was much less traumatic for everybody. Dr. Smith even called me back that day with her blood results even though they were essentially normal. I have been a Pet’s Friend client for over 30 years because of their kind and knowledgeable Vets and staff❣️

Fantastic experience: Update from this year's wellness exam. We saw a new vet for my dog Dr. Smith. She was very thorough, explained things to me and even scanned again for kidney stones which had been a problem for my dog in the past. The techs and office staff are very helpful and freindly. I am very happy that I have chosen Pet's Friend Animal Clinic to care for my dog. Pet's Friend is very caring and professional. My dog was given a very thorough examination from what I could tell over the phone. I will be glad when we can resume in person visits once again. My dog received excellent treatment.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Smith and her team were so kind and gentle with our senior dog, Gizmo. Dr. Smith went above and beyond and still, helping us get the best care and solution for his situation. I wished Gizmo was a patient in his earlier years as I feel he would've been in the best care at this clinic. Regardless of Gizmo's outcome, thank you so much Pet's Friend Animal Clinic. You're kindness meant everything to us.

Negative experience: My little dog was attacked by a huge husky while we were waiting for the appointment and was a scary experience. Hope the clinic would have a better way to handle aggressive dogs on their way in and out.

Miranda Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Staff: The Pet's Friend Team is well-staffed and very friendly. Our vet - Dr. Hsieh - was clearly knowledgeable, thorough, and proactive with helping our kitty. She was also able to give us answers about our cat's symptoms upon our first visit, which we had not received at our previous vet clinic after multiple visits. Scheduling: The staff is quick to see you if you have an appointment. It was also easy to get a hold of someone on the phone to schedule an appointment. Follow-up visits are easy to schedule. Price: The price of this place is comparable to other clinics in silicon valley, but in my opinion you get more bang for your buck with the expertise and care of the staff here. I was previously going to a different vet whose cost was the same, but who was not as experienced or possibly didn't care enough to compile the symptoms into a treatable diagnosis. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone!

Fantastic experience: Pet's friends got recommended to us when we were calling around looking for an ER Animal Hospital with an intention to establish a primary care vet for my fur babies. We relocated to Mountain View from out of town and finding the right fit and compassionate vet clinic staff is a must if we're going to establish care for our kids. Since meeting Dr.Koski, our heart felt at ease that their paws are entrusted in the best hands. Unfortunately, one of our furbabies had a sudden health decline, the second trip at Pets Friends with Dr.Wang was met with sad but supportive news that we are giving the best transition care for our baby before he was laid to sleep to doggie heaven by Dr. Koski the following day. We are so grateful to all their staff including the front desk girls Robin and Kim for scheduling us last minute to take care of him. We are so grateful for finding this place. Thank you for all that you do.

Fantastic experience: Thank you guys for reminding me to bring Whiskey in for his annual check up. As usual the check up was quick and easy. All results were sent to me within a day. Dr. Koski and all staff members were friendly and accomodating. I've been bringing four generations of dogs here and highly recommend them for all my veterinary needs.

Donald Chen Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: I've used them a few times but have finally have had enough. While the care is generally fine, Pet's Friend will do everything to try and nickel and dime and upsell you. During exams, the vet will push unnecessary vaccines (e.g., a rare disease that is transmitted via stagnant pools of water), will guilt trip you if you have reservations (Are you sure? We heard another owner's dog recently got the disease...), and push to have additional procedures done. My dog had an annual check up and then needed to come back for an x-ray. Even though I was charged an exam fee the first time, they charge me another exam fee. This was after I asked multiple times whether a 3rd party surgeon would accept Pet's Friend's x-rays and the front desk wouldn't answer my question, and instead scheduled the appointment. Save yourself and find another vet; Pet's Friend is anything but and just view your pets as cash cows.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been bringing my fur babies to Pet’s Friends for several years now and have been completely happy with them. From the welcoming staff at the front desk, or now on the phone while you wait in your car, to the caring and wonderfully kind veterinarians and vet techs. You get friendly email reminders when your pets are due for their shots/check ups/etc. Which is greatly helpful since I always forget how often then need their stuff. The last visit it was 105 degrees outside. When they came out to my car to bring my pup in for her appointment, they carried her inside to protect her feet from the hot pavement. I’ll continue to come here for my babies health care needs.

Fantastic experience: Update, March 2024: Dr. Lin has moved on to an opportunity in Hawaii, and I've been seeing Dr. Smith since. She is wonderful, too! In fact, every vet I've seen in the clinic (had an urgent appointment and a dental procedure with different vets there) has been very caring and respectful of my anxious doggo. Last week we had our best visit yet, as my dog is getting more and more comfortable there. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Had my first visit at Pet’s Friend Animal Clinic and it was so refreshing. I actually got to go inside with my dog for his exam, unlike our previous vet. (We adopted him during the pandemic, so I had never been in a vet office with him before.) The office was large and very clean and bright. Dr. Lin was amazing! She took time to help my fearful dog get comfortable with her, and listened to his full history and all my concerns. She was proactive and aware of his records that had been transferred and thus able to recommend combining procedures to minimize upcoming visits and blood draws. Vet Tech Stephanie was great, too. I look forward to continuing our care here and also recommended them to my neighbor who isn’t happy with her current vet.

Fantastic experience: Update: From summer 2022 when I called to first inquire about the price of visits before I moved to the area, there was an increase to $75 cost, then $85. It’s now $95. The doctors provide almost too many “options” and make it really confusing as to what you choose to do, perhaps for liability reasons or because they aren’t confident to give an opinion? In any case, it was something that I noticed the first appointment to now that I realize is a bit odd and uncomfortable. I’d like to have the doctor provide me their professional opinion and guidance on how to proceed… It’s like I’m offered some completely unnecessary options. I absolutely love the doctors and the vet assistants here though. ******** Phenomenal practice, doctor, vet assistants, receptionists…(very pricey though). I booked my dog about two months in advance, as the practice likes to devote an hour to new patients. It was worth the wait. Let me just how amazing Dr. Ardith Wang and the vet assistants were with my dog, a big GSD-mix baby…. The vet assistant was really receptive and skilled at making my dog feel more comfortable in the exam room as well as effectively communicating all of the information I spewed to Dr. Wang! Dr. Wang was so great with my dog - knowing that he was anxious. I greatly appreciate how she addressed all of my questions and reviewed the options and costs of treatment/tests that could be considered/addressed so that I could make informed decisions. I can’t help but laugh when I think about the room full of women cuddling and consoling my dog whilst he was getting blood work done. Such a big baby! 2024 update: Sonia is excellent! She spent some time teaching and helping me with trimming my dog’s nails. She also emailed me some recommendations for pet tools such as a grinding board and lick plate. ******* The team reached out to follow up on some records; and, Dr. Wang emailed me (day after his appointment) with the lab results. I am really impressed with their communication and follow-up. Most importantly, I greatly appreciate how they treat my dog like a people doctor would treat us!

Fantastic experience: The staff is so friendly and professional. Everyone was kind and made our visit a pleasant one. Dr. Meghan was patient with my nervous kittens and made the visit as painless as possible. She took the time to listen and address all of my concerns, which left me feeling informed and supported. You can feel the compassion from everyone there.

Susan Walker Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: Mixed review. I agree with other reviews - the receptionist there is terrible. She’s super rude and will always try to charge you more than what you should be charged. We’ve been taking our dogs here for several years. Recently, our older dog experienced kidney failure due to Lyme disease that he had been fighting for sometime. I did have the feeling that they knew he was dying and still had us coming in every day his last week and spending upwards of 3500 in that week alone for his care. However, we were OK with that because we were desperate to try to help him. What was really upsetting was that the vet never called to discuss what happened to him despite several calls. She finally called and that was fine. We accepted the situation. What was extra troubling, though was that when he was really ill that week I had bought specialized food, and one of the front desk people had said if he doesn’t eat it the manufacturer will take it back and you’ll get a refund. However, the receptionist would not give us a refund and insisted finally that the only thing she could do was to give us a credit. Few weeks later, I brought our other dog in for his annual check up and shots and that went well. A few days after that, I scheduled an appointment for him to get his nails clipped when we went to check out the same receptionist charged us $63 to get his nails done. I told her in the past we had only been charged around $35. She insisted that that was the current price. $63 -even by Bay Area standards - is crazy high for an 18 pound dog to have his nails done. I recommend that you insist on pricing before bringing your animals here for anything. I also agree with others that the receptionist is super rude, and really is not helpful for their business. On a positive note, they have some very good and very nice technicians there.

Negative experience: This facility’s veterinarians (even though they advertise several) are never available to see their established canine and feline patients when their patients are ill or injured. So, this facility’s vets are fairly useless. Don’t be fooled by what looks like a lot of advertised vets and services. They don’t actually provide those. Perhaps, they used to get decent reviews Because they refuse to see any pets who are ill or injured.

Fantastic experience: Love Pet's Friends Clinic. Have been going there for 20+ years. I'm on my second set of cats with them. They seem to have adjusted to the leaving of the founder quite well. Didn't realize they were owned by a big corporate firm now. They've seemed to keep the homey fell of the office.

Gail Harlow Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: The staff were fantastic. Dr. Wang and Katlin were great! They explained everything fully and didn’t rush the appointment. This was my dog’s first vet visit at this new veterinary office since she’d been spayed at HSSV. My dog was happy throughout the entire experience. My past experience with another veterinary service was so horrible that my past dog was terrified every time to go there. Pet’s Friend Animal Clinic was highly recommended to me and I am very happy with our experience. Thank you, Pet’s Friend!!!

Suzette Pangrle Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Pet's Friend has always been there to help us. That means a lot because we have been going there for over 25 years. As we are approaching the end of life for our current dog, they have helped us with pain-relieving palliative care to give her the best quality life.

Teresa Harman Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: So, this is my experience from calling to try to make an appointment I have not brought my dogs in- only called to try. Both times I called the receptionist was very short with me. I’m looking for a vet for my elderly dog. All she seemed to care about was letting me know that they charge an upfront fee and if you need to cancel within 4 days then you don’t get it back. I’m looking for advice. Seems so hard to find a vet for my boys. I have concerns for my dog and am desperately looking for a vet.

Mika Jiang Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: They require my dog to be on 2x~3x Trazodone + Gabapentin (calming medication) before ANY visit, including regular health check. On this amount of medication, my dog can't stand well, or even hold her peep/ poop, but they still insist. I have been to other 3 clinics and none of their doctors require any calming medication for my dog. They were able to do vaccination, blood testing, and all regular checks pretty smoothly. I wonder if Pet's Friend's doctors really care about dog's health or they lack experience performing dog health check/lab testing.

Fantastic experience: We have been taking our doggie girls to Pet's Friends since they opened. Although there have been many changes over the years, the loving care they have given our dogs, myself, and wife has always been consistent. That's because you can tell they love animals and want to help them live a long, happy, and healthy life. The Doctors are special - they take time to explain medical process, explain options to us, and really listen to our concerns. The Pet's Friends' staff treats us like family. The staff provides more than just administrative and technical support to the Doctors - they provide a professional atmosphere of confidence while making everyone feel at home. I would not hesitate recommending them to my friends.

Fantastic experience: I love their service, they were very patient to listen to all of my concerns for my dog and took their time to explain them all one by one rather than tell me get this medication and leave. I’m absolutely happy with my first visit. It was a bit pricier than other places but who doesn’t want to spend on their pet to see them healthy.

Fantastic experience: This review is long overdue. I can't say enough good things about Pet's Friend Animal Clinic. First off, they are accredited, which most vet clinics are not. This means they have passed very stringent quality standards encompassing all areas of veterinary medicine. The care they provide for my cats is exceptional. The staff is not only knowledgeable but also incredibly compassionate. They go above and beyond to make sure our furry family members are well taken care of. The veterinarians I have interacted with take the time to thoroughly assess my cats, answer any questions I have, never make me feel like they are in a hurry and they are highly qualified. I mean, these vets will literally get on the floor and sit to examine your pet if they have to. How often do you see that?? Additionally, although they do dental work, when my cat's tooth was broken (which I didn't even know but because of their thorough assessment they noticed it) they demonstrated true professionalism and honesty by referring my cat to a specialist for that particular tooth due to the possible complications for extracting it. This decision showed their commitment to providing the best possible care for my pet, even if it meant seeking expertise elsewhere. Whereas, many other vets would probably just do the extraction regardless. Their expertise, compassion, and willingness to go the extra mile has left a profound impression on me. What sets Pet's Friend apart from other veterinary clinics is they take the time to educate pet owners, providing comprehensive information about treatment options and preventative measures to keep our furry friends healthy and happy. This proactive approach to pet healthcare goes a long way in ensuring the longevity and well-being of my cats. For example, one vet noticed my cat had some remnants of poop on her booty so she inquired about her eating habits and my feeding habits. So she provided FortiFlora which contains a probiotic to promote intestinal health and balance. So simple yet it meant a lot to me because I know other vets would just overlook something like that. Their transparency and dedication to my pet's well-being are truly commendable. I have complete trust in their judgment and will continue to rely on their exceptional services. When my cat unexpectedly died, at the hands of a different vet, Warm Springs Pet Hospital, I notified them about what happened and shortly after I received a card in the mail signed by all the staff, including the veterinarians. I did not expect that at all and was touched by their thoughtfulness. I didn't even get so much as a sorry from the vet that killed her. Just a fat bill to pay. Also, every time I contact them for patient records or anything at all, they are very prompt in responding and send the requested material in a matter of minutes. They are really on top of it. So needless to say, I highly recommend this veterinary clinic!

Fantastic experience: I went for my first time to Pet’s Friend on Friday. The hour-long appointment for our initial visit isn’t common practice in primary care medicine and it’s absolutely wonderful! Dr Shaw is razor-sharp and exceedingly intelligent. She explains everything clearly (which is needed when your brains turn to mush after a devastating diagnosis) Vet nurses are always a bit difficult when we have to play the role of patient-parents yet Dr Shaw was supremely patient and ALLLLL of my concerns were heard/discussed. She discovered something that no other Dr/Nurse or even myself has noticed. (and he’s seen WELL over 20 doctors in his life…) My dog has two extra teeth The hospital is lovely, tucked away, VERY CLEAN, has ample close parking, and the staff are professionals. Dog/Cat sides are separate in waiting area. Robin, Lori, Dr Shaw and the very kind and helpful nurse in pink scrubs who assisted Dr Shaw are all super stars! A lot of anxiety comes with finding a primary care vet…and probably even more so for people who aren’t in the industry+don’t know what to look for. As someone who very much understands what it takes to run a fantastic hospital, you can rest assured Pet’s Friend is a quality establishment and I fully recommend them. **Side note: I was legitimately shocked at how fairly priced everything was…I had been expecting a significantly higher number. When it came the time to pay, the nurse held my (giant) dog’s leash for me and gave him some love so I could handle the bill. I stood there, like a dumdum in shock, when she told me what was owed. For the amount of time it took and the awesome “nose-to-tail” exam and everything else we had done that day… It was 1/3rd of what I expected to pay. Thank you, Pet’s Friend. I deeply appreciate every one of you for treating us with such compassion during this very difficult and challenging time.

Fantastic experience: I have struggled do find a vet I trust for quite a long time. This vet was a game changer for me. I genuinely believe the vets that work here care about my pets and are always more than willing to take extra time to explain challenging situations to me and help me make the best decision for my fur babies. I recommend this vet 1000%.

Fantastic experience: Probably the best veterinarian service for cats and dogs in South Bay. They’re probably not taking many new patients at this time due to high demand. My 18 year old cat gets checked every 6 months and she is in great health.

Rina Davis Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: We’ve gone to this clinic for about 5 years and our pet has received thorough, informative and loving care on every visit from both vets and assistant. Pricey but, on the other hand, the care is better than we’ve received from other clinics.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Wang was extremely thorough, detailed, passionate, and compassionate in every aspect of my cat and even emailed/called me for follow-ups. She treated me as her top priority and not just another patient to get through. She handled every detail of my cat’s bloodwork with the highest attention to detail out of any other vet I have met. She also was kind enough to play spa music for my cat while evaluating her. I was blown away by this level of service - she clearly knows cats and how stressed they get!! Other clinics often treated my cat as a menace to society, when all you really need is the right dose of gabapentin, soft music, and love and care. Dr. Davidson has been amazing for my 14 year old dog as well - extremely thorough, patient, and compassionate in evaluating all of my dog’s bloodwork and overall health and evens consulting with those in her medical field to ascertain certain values I had questions about. The clinic also feels clean, homey, and very welcoming. My husband and I were extremely pleased with our most recent visit for our cat!

Michael Posner Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Dr Davidson did a complete exam and answered all our questions for our new recuse dog with no time pressure. Then she did an examination of our second dogs eye with no appointment saving us a second visit and provided medication. We were extremely pleased by the service provided.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this clinic! Dr. Smith was amazing during our visit with our cat. She was attentive and gentle to our cat and really took the time to explore all the details with us about our cat's allergy diagnosis and next steps. She was transparent with the medicines/costs which were reasonable and even took the time to design a personalized schedule for us showing when and how to administer each dose of the various prescribed meds! The facility itself is clean and welcoming too.

Fantastic experience: If you can get in, they are excellent at reading care of your pet. The appointment crunch has eased up a bit, but I don't know if they are taking new clients. They've been my vet for 3 different senior dogs, and have taken good care of all of them.

Jane W Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: I've been dealing for the past 3 years with a cat that has a autoimmune disease that is chronic she requires treatment year round to prevent her body from attacking itself. Previous vets have not been as knowledgeable in treatment to keep the the disease at bay. A Pet's friend Animal Clinic is very knowledgeable helpful and informative regarding her condition treatment much more than any other Veterinary service has and I look forward to working with them and keeping my cat as healthy and comfortable as possible in the future.

Positive experience: The medical staff provided very professional service, but I was totally shocked by the receptionist during my first visit. I am a new customer and I just moved to the Bay Area at the end of last month. Unfortunately, I was 20 minutes late. I had checked the map the previous night, but the driving time almost tripled the next morning due to the heavy traffic in the Bay Area, which I had never experienced in my old city. I wanted to apologize and explain that I was still learning to live here, but I would keep better track of time for my next visit. However, the receptionist didn't give me a chance to explain and instead spoke to me very strictly and loudly, claiming I was one hour late. I was very shocked because I had no idea where she got the notion of me being ONE HOUR LATE. Furthermore, I felt extremely embarrassed because everyone around me was looking at me. I had appointments for both of my cats, one at 8:30AM and the other at 9:30AM, as indicated in their email. I would have understood if she had said there was no excuse for being late and that the first appointment had to be cancelled, with only one of my cats being served. Later, another staff member corrected her and confirmed that I was actually 20 minutes late, which she eventually accepted. If her intention was to educate the customer in this manner, it was certainly successful, as I still felt uncomfortable after 5 days. However, I cannot agree that treating clients in such an emotional manner is a good professional practice.
