Negative experience: I wouldn’t willingly choose this place. I was forced to go there because I adopted from their sister facility on W. Market St. The staff are rude unengaged and dismissive. My daughter who is 21 went to pick up the cats. They gave zero postop instructions to her and didn’t even know which cats belong to us. They did not call what they said they were going to. When I got home, I had to call the sister facility to complain because I was given zero instructions. They said that they should’ve gone over postop instructions and restrictions. Zero stars would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: Great experience getting a feral cat fixed. Was annoyed that it said to show up at 8am and not earlier and the feral spots were filled. So show up earlier if you have a feral cat in a trap. But it is a great option to get a cat fixed that you might struggle to get fixed somewhere else.

Negative experience: They are a glorified puppy mill. Do not adopt from them unless you want a poorly bred dog from someone's backyard, with lifelong genetic issues. They seek out and rescue pregnant dogs from other shelters, just to let them give birth at their shelter so they can sell the pups, instead of spay-aborting as is common. This is highly unethical in animal rescue, as it contributes to the overpopulation of unwanted dogs. Images are from their social media, where they regularly brag about their 6+ "birthing suites".

Positive experience: Very simple process on dropping off and picking up. I will to confirm that my foster pup was chipped as requested, it does not appear on the paperwork. Also was to get a 10% discount, it does not appear either. But would recommend the low cost program.

Fantastic experience: Super nice people here. We had 5 month old, brother and sister kittens fixed . I will say that when we brought them home, to my surprise, they acted like nothing ever happened. The Anesthesia was out of their system very quickly. No pain or irritation! We did not leave the cone on the female's head like instructed. It was a risk that we took and she had no problem. I'm not saying that is what you should do. I Highly recommend, One of A Kind, for your pets needs.

Negative experience: I emailed asking for prices and was told it was $80.00 to spay my cat. Great! emailed back answering all the questions and I received a call on March 7th to get her scheduled. I was told it was an additional $25.00 for rabies vaccine. Which was fine! When I went to pick her up I was surprised that the bill was $135.00. I asked if it was for the pain medication, she said no she received an injection and more than likely wouldn't need pain medication. So I asked well it should be $105.00 what is the extra charge for? She proceeded to tell me that prices went up March 1st, well I was surprised because nowhere in the email did it state starting march 1st prices were going to go up, not only that but the woman I spoke to on the phone to get her scheduled never once said there was a price difference..... In my opinion that's super unprofessional. Not only that but there are some people out there that don't have a whole lot so needing to be clear as far as pricing I feel like should definitely be a no brainer. Not impressed.

Fantastic experience: They have done our two rescue dog’s spay procedures and they have gone flawlessly. They also give clear instructions prior to and after surgery, along with a phone number in case of emergencies. They are usually very, very busy with all of the community work they do and animals they take in, so you need to arrive at the time they give you and it’s hassle free.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, VERY affordable. For those of you complaining they never answer the phone, send an email. I never had problems getting a hold of them via email. Just make sure you’re clear about wanting a spay/neuter. There is a bit of a wait to get on the list for spay/neuter, we waited about a month and due to holiday travel had to schedule for January instead of December. Keep in mind they’re incredibly busy and probably the most affordable spay and neuter clinic in the Akron area, so it’s understandable for them not to answer the phone. They took care of my babies and sent them home in a cone which they absolutely hate haha. Easy check in and check out process, they took copies of my kitties’ rabies shot records and took them back immediately. For pick up time, easy payment process and then I was reunited with the babies. Surprisingly no meds sent home with us for recovery, but they seem to be in no pain other than the annoyance from the cone of shame. Thanks so much One of a Kind!

Fantastic experience: Once I accepted having to schedule online, the place was a dream! Easy to find, pleasant drop off, everyone is patient and kind. Pick ups were even easier! They are AWESOME and AFFORDABLE!

Positive experience: Pros: less expensive than my vet, the surgery went very well. Con: they gave my dog trazadone to keep him from trying to lick his surgical incision, and it gave him serious neurological affects.... so I went to my vet to get him new meds from my regular vet, and they put him on an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and gabapentin for pain.... and so therefore, I ended up not saving money in the end.

Positive experience: We sent in our vaccination records ahead of time by email and we brought it in the morning of the spay, but they still gave my dog shots she didn’t need. She only needed a spay, but she came back with a second rabies shot, another bordatella, and another DHLPP which she had already finished the series for. It beat paying $400 more at our local vets but they weren’t really paying attention during the intake process and she got $80 in shots she had already received months ago.

Negative experience: Terrible service. We had our vet fax over our kittens shot records. This clinic only received records for one. So instead of calling and telling us so we can get it corrected, they gave my kitten rabies shots again, and then charged me for it. Terrible people. I will never take an animal to them again.

Fantastic experience: Spay for our 7 month old kitten. Drop off and pickup are a little crowded (especially pickup) since they do a lot each day. No problems, well priced and they will help with any questions you have.

Fantastic experience: They did an amazing job on my kitty Timmy he is doing grea. They also sent him home with meds cause of something else but he's an indoor outdoor cat that I found . The only downfall was the wait when everyone picks up their animals at the end of the day but they try to make it fast and smooth I give a thumbs up to the staff there for that reason.

Fantastic experience: Extremely affordable. Everyone here is kind and patient, giving every furbaby their due. Direct connection with the OoaK adoption location a few blocks away. The first Saturday of each month there's a low-cost vaccine clinic. They've streamlined it to make it as fast as it can be (given its popularity), while giving everyone attention with a positive, loving attitude.

Fantastic experience: A wonderful place to meet your new best friend. Beautiful dogs and cats of all kinds there through no fault of their own. My dog of 5 yrs came from there as well as several friends' pets.

Negative experience: Prices are almost as high as a regular vet saved $15 getting my dog spayed. And if you have any concerns about your pet afterwards. Good luck getting hold of anybody. They don't answer their phone and you don't get a response from an email for 3 days. I would say spend the extra $15 for better aftercare.

Positive experience: I love this business because of their mission. I don't like how difficult it is to get ahold of someone when calling the exchange st location. The hours listed on thier google search results are incorrect. I had to contact their other location on market st to arrange a time to deliver donations. That location is open a lot later. It always stinks and just overall feels dirty at the exchange st location too.

Positive experience: I have always brought my animals here to get spayed or neutered. But when I needed my kittens neutered I was calling for weeks trying to get an appointment. But they never answer the phone. So I found a new low cost place. It's nothing against how professional and nice this place, that why i gave them 3 stars. But it's just if you don't offer making appointments online then atleast answer your phone.

Negative experience: Never answers phone and does not respond to email in a timely manner at all. If you do surgery on someone's pet-they should be able to speak with a person if they have concerns with recovery. You should never be "too busy" to provide patient care to pets you have performed procedures on.

Fantastic experience: I went in a few times to look for a adoption. We were in 4 times over 2 years. I was going to pick up another rescue but they had puppies and I fell in love. The woman that helped me stayed after her shift to make sure my dog was the right dog for me. Because he was a puppy and a doodle he was more expensive than other dogs. They let me take him but I did have to sign papers that I would take care of him because his litter arrived just a few days prior. He was expensive at first and needed ALOT of vet care. I am so happy with One of a Kind and the staff and my decision to bring home my wild puppy. He is the greatest Thank you One of A Kind for this wonderful addition to our family! This Is the day I brought him home and how he looks now. (In the pictures)

Fantastic experience: We adopted a cat from here and have received veterinary services for several of our other animals. One of a Kind Pets allows us to afford to give loving homes to more pets.

Fantastic experience: We had both of our sweet kittens spayed at OOAK clinic and they did a fantastic job. The girls are doing great and get their cones off in 3 more days, they will be VERY happy then! The staff are all so kind and they were very clear with the at home instructions after surgery. I can't thank them enough for what they do, and the cost was VERY reasonable, they are certainly a blessing!

Fantastic experience: They are a huge non-profit, no kill shelter at the heart of the city and county... Everyone there does alot and they set thier adoptive pets up for success, as well as aiding community! Most cities in Ohio would be lucky to have their rescue and clinic abilities!

Fantastic experience: It costed us around 60$ to neuter my one year old male cat. He is doing fine now and the staff were very helpful. It’s amazing for the price and the waitlist wasn’t even long compared to some clinics. It’s just very hard to get ahold of them because their phones are always busy. But it is amazing for the price.

Fantastic experience: I've had over 23 Cats spayed at One of a kind, I do catch and release Ferrell cats..Not one of the cats had a problem.They do a great job.Im not a professional,I just live in a area where there are several rentals and they never take their Cats when they move.So to stop the kitten epidemic I take these Baby's and have them fixed..Then release them back in the Neighborhood.We take care of all the Ferrell cats ( food and Shelter in the garages,several Neighbors..But We couldn't do it if it weren't for One of a kind...

Fantastic experience: I've had all my cats done here, but the last time it cost almost $140.00 with his vaccines he needed for a kitten. They've always been professionals. They had had a $25.00 fee way back then. These high prices are why there are so many stray cats and dogs.....JS

Negative experience: WARNING- we took our German Shepard here to get spayed, ended up having to take her back the next day due to continuous bleeding. Come to find out they either forgot or improperly stitched one of the spots where they remove the uterus which is why she was still bleeding. She was also in heat and failed to inform us that there could be complications. Well a day after her surgery she died. Very unprofessional & uncaring of a families loved one. If they would’ve communicated we would’ve never gotten her spayed at the time.

Negative experience: I had a great experience with One of a Kind about 7 years ago. Then when in need after an accidental liter, I needed my female spayed so it would not happen again. A friend of mine who is supposedly friends with the vet said I could bring her in for a low cost but I had to surrender the puppies so that they could make money off of them. Now I don't know about any one else but for me, I had amazing homes lined up for the little ones. I knew they wereall going to great ho.es and I could keep up with them as they grow. They refused to spay my dog because they couldn't have the puppies. If they were here to help they wouldn't need the puppies and help me out as I am currently unemployed. Wish I could say something good about them. However, seems to be just a scam to make money off people who just need a little help.

Fantastic experience: I hope they open soon I really need to get my 3 dogs spayed and neutered. They are the cheapest around. They treat my animals as their own family. I have to keep my animals seperated because they having a lot of hormones. I want to be able to get them done soon and everywhere I call more than what I'd pay here. They offer an inexpensive spay/neuter program as well as are sometimes the only ones that will take in kittens , even when their full . I highly recommend checking them out ! We got our pup rosy there .

Fantastic experience: I had my male cat fixed at this place. They were very friendly, kind and gentle with my cat. Which that's definitely one of the main things I look for when I have to take my pets somewhere to get a check up or surgery. Then to top it all off I ended up getting my male cat fixed and got his rabies shot for only $40 with a voucher though. You can't beat that. So I definitely give this place 2 thumbs up!

Fantastic experience: We found this place by accident and wandered in to look around. I was so impressed with the professionalism and obvious dedication of the staff, many of them volunteers. This place and the people who run it are amazing and all should be commended for their love of animals and commitment to their care. We ended up adopting two kittens. So glad we found One of a Kind. The name describes the staff as well! Phenomenal humans doing amazing work!

Negative experience: I really really hate to do this because I love animals so much but I have emailed every single person on the contact webpage I have called many many times and I am fully understanding of the fact that you are closed to the public. However my veterinarian scanned for my dogs microchip which should have been implanted when she was spayed at one of a kind she could not find a microchip anywhere on her I needed to update her information and I could not do that without the microchip information I have attempted to reach out many many times in many different ways to receive the records of my dog spay and I have yet to hear back and when I call the clinic I can’t speak to anybody I have tried calling the adoption center and they are of absolutely no help either. All I want is my dogs medical records which is some thing that you legally cannot hold from me. However that’s what is being done. I am so severely disappointed with this clinic and with this pet rescue

Negative experience: Just called to see if I could have my cat spayed, and was bluntly told they “no longer service the public.” Really?! That’s really good to know when I look up your business on google thinking I’ll actually receive help

Negative experience: I thought it would be a good idea to be a foster for a pregnant cat and birth kittens...oh my God was I so wrong. They throw the animal into your care with no information on what the process is or how operations go. In trying to get get food from them for 7, 8 week old kittens and mom, we had to persuade them into giving us enough food. Even though we had already gone out to spend over three digit figures for pellets, waste, supplies, etc. Over the course of time we have had them. What really gives this a 1 star review is that today, in taking all the kittens in for spay or neuter, when asking what the results were or what they did to the kittens I was told that they don't have time to pull the paperwork. Nice. I then proceeded to go back out to the car, and thank God I made a head count because I was missing a kitten!!! Maybe he couldn't tell me how they did or what happened because it seems they can't even count to 7. So the 7th kitten was then handed to me before I could even open the carrier and I'm trying to make sure the others don't get out of the cage....if you're really that important to not be able to stand there for a second you probably shouldn't work there....it's obvious you have more important things to do than help the foster that's been extremely proactive in giving a mama and her kittens a good home that's clean, quiet and kitten friendly....I'm sitting here now watching the kitten to make sure it's going to be OK. I guess I can put vet tech on my resume now. If you're a foster, I suggest you look for other businesses to support other than this one...I hope one of a kind reviews these....you need to change your business acumen and the way you treat and handle supporting fosters in the area. 7-7 Update- Was informed this morning that the micro tagging chips that all the kittens got weren't written down...so they have to be reevaluated to find out what chip is in what kitten...This really is ridiculous...If you are a foster look somewhere else to help...you will be treated unkindly by the clinic, and obviously "left hand does not know what right hand is doing". The advisor we had was a great help, but that seems to be only one person in a sea of idiots.

Fantastic experience: I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! They did an amazing job with my pollo pollo. He had a blockage that required surgery. We tried every vet and even an emergency vet but the price was wayyy too high to afford everywhere else or they were booked and couldn't do the surgery. Leaving us with one option. Putting him down. Apollo will turn 1 on Sunday and we've had him since birth. That was not what we wanted by any means. One of a Kind was the only place willing to do the surgery and work with us. They saved our boy pollo. I will never forget what they did for us. And I can't thank them enough. I will never ever go anywhere else with my animals.

They comfort me and assured me that everything was going to be fine and after everything was done they went step by step what needed to be done for the healing. Positive experience: Went here to get my dog fixed. Impossible to speak over the phone with anyone. I left multiple voicemailes for callbacks looking for information. Sent an email and finally got a response a week later from that. Thought I had all the info I needed for my appointment but was wrong. No one told me this is a first come first serve situation and everyone is told to come on the same day at the same time. It was hectic and busy, with no directions. Cars were lined up outside for some reason adding to the confusion. It was also freezing outside and I had to stand out there for 15mins with my dog before we could go in because the max capacity says 2. Only giving 3 stars because my dog is recovering well and the staff was nice. Someone just needs to take charge.

Fantastic experience: In a nutshell, these are good people doing their part to make the world better. Healthcare is important for animals, too. Please spay and neuter! It offers your pets (and ferals) the best quality of life and helps with overpopulation. OOAKP makes it more than affordable to do right by your pets. They don't only spay/neuter. They also have a monthly vaccination clinic open to all that is VERY inexpensive.

Negative experience: All 3 of my cats that just got spayed and neutered got sick from this place. They were perfectly healthy before and now I am looking for a place to put my 6 month old kitten down because he’s so sick. I can’t get ahold of anybody in this office either. I will NEVER be going back or referring anybody to this place.

Fantastic experience: I adopted the most wonderful little man from One of a Kind! They cared for him through some healthcare issues. We took him and adopted this precious guy, DiNozzo. He’s been both a Joy and a total Joy. Please support this wonderful entity and all the souls who work and volunteer and pass through it.

Fantastic experience: We have gotten four pets from One Of A Kind Pet Rescue and have given them forever homes; the last kitten needed an additional shot ( because we got him at 10 weeks) and he had a little eye infection. The staff was kind, friendly, and helpful. I’m always impressed with the knowledgeable and compassionate staff; the amazing volunteers, and joyful animals that populate the premises. The staff cares deeply for the animals and want to make sure that they are going to a good home with dependable pet owners. The staff has gone to great lengths to assure that employees, volunteers, customers, and animals are all safe during the pandemic. I highly recommend this facility for its great service and community minded passion as well as for it’s conscientious pricing.

Positive experience: I highly recommend you seriously consider before adopting from this shelter. We cannot get them to answer or return our calls or messages, either rescue or vet side, and the cat we adopted has multiple untreated heath issues that should have been caught earlier and treated. She was in their care for 8 months, not just a matter of days or weeks. They were negligent in caring for her, and/or they were dishonest with us about her health status. In addition to both ears and both anal glands infected (one subsequently ruptured), our sweet girl has a heart murmur that we should have been informed of. She will likely require a cardiologist's care. We will ensure she is cared for... they did not. It particularly concerns me because not everyone can afford to care for a high needs animal... prospective adopters need to question the health information they are given by this place, and know you really don't know any more about the animal you are adopting than you would from the pound. For some of us that is ok, but you should know that going in to the decision to adopt. Update: I finally got a return message on FB messenger (no idea who, no name was given). I was told I would be contacted by the Executive Director; I was not. However, I did get a call from the Medical Director. She seems lovely, was very understanding and concerned, and seemed quite knowlegeable (I've worked with a variety of vets & vet specialists over the years). She reached out to get the records from my regular vet, and has offered to provide some treatment options my regular vet did not.
