Echo Hollow Veterinary Hospital and Urgent Care: Reviews
Fantastic experience: The tech was super good with my old dog, and the new vet we saw was so in tune with me from the get-go. It was like being with a vet who had treated my animals for decades and knew me personally. Wait was a little long though.
Fantastic experience: They are a every good veterinary, I was satisfied with all staff members.I give them a score of 100+
Negative experience: We just left Echo Hollow Vet Hospital where we have been taking our cat since 2022. Because our cat is sassy we sedate her with Gabapetin ( which is not good for her liver) two hrs before her appt. They are always unable to do her reg med exam & take blood etc. because she is feisty. So that’s their excuse to put her under & keep her. $$$ Which ends up with an invoice total of over $400. Our last appt was over $900 for visit, chem panel, urinalysis, HOSPITALIZATION, rabies, Alfaxan induction, more Gabapetin & pet Tinic. This fee because Michelle Kenna DVM & her staff cannot assertively handle a 15 year old, 15 lb cat! When Kenna was confronted re their inability to assertively withdraw blood & finish the exam & confronted re additional fees to keep her she said to find another vet. Isn’t that curious? I anticipated her response. Their incompetence as vet care is remarkable. In all these years I always wondered about the excessive fees as an excuse to up charge us. Our cat complains by hissing & they can’t handle a 15 year old sedated cat. Hmm. Shame on them.
Negative experience: I only went to this Vet a few times and will not be returning. The pricing at this clinic I find unreasonably high (they charge $12.70 per tablet for meds you can get on Chewy for 13 cents per tablet.) It is also a huge red flag for me when they take my animal to the back for injections and blood draws, not allowing me to see what is being done. When they take your animal back for surgery, I get it. If an animal is scared, anxious or unruly, fine grab another person to help. That's not the case here. If it's for a vaccine or simple blood draw, I want to be with my animal. I also want to know that what I'm paying for is actually being done. It's a matter of trust and I simply do not trust this clinic.
Hi J T, we’re sorry to learn about your experience. Our top priority is providing high-quality medical care and ensuring every patient’s comfort and well-being. We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your concerns; however, we are unable to identify your information in our client records.
Fantastic experience: Kind and informative. They help us care for our pets better.
Negative experience: This place has really gone down hill. The technician was afraid and nervous, the vet was cold and unfriendly. The place used to be warm and friendly with staff greating my dog with positive energy, now just business like and nonfriendly.
Negative experience: I’ve taken my dogs to Echo Hollow multiple times, and I’ve overlooked several instances of backwards, inconsistent service, especially compared to the way they treat my husband. But my most recent visit was so upsetting and unprofessional that I will never return. We had an urgent appointment for our very sick dog, who ultimately passed away. We had been traveling, bouncing between emergency hospitals, and were specifically instructed by multiple emergency DVMs to get an ultrasound from our regular vet. The day before the appointment, my husband called Echo Hollow to confirm they had ultrasound capabilities and that the service would be available when we arrived. They assured him it would be. When we showed up, the tech asked questions that were already clearly documented in the emergency notes we had provided. Then the DVM came in and immediately told us they did not have ultrasound capabilities and advised us to go back to the emergency hospital. When we explained that we had called ahead to confirm, he shrugged it off and said the office manager “made a mistake.” Echo Hollow did absolutely nothing for our dog during that appointment—nothing—and still charged us for a full visit. At a moment when we were scared, exhausted, and desperate to help our pet, they offered zero support, zero accountability, and zero compassion. Not only are they not AAHA certified, but they are unprofessional, insensitive, and clearly willing to take advantage of people who are doing everything they can for their pets. After this experience, I will not be bringing my other animals there ever again.
We understand that this is an incredibly difficult time for you and your family, and we offer our heartfelt condolences. We apologize for any confusion or miscommunication.
Fantastic experience: I love how they treat my pets they are supportive caring and loving. This is the place to take your pets if they need care. We had to put are cat put down they gave us all the time we needed to say are good bye and grieve his departure. There fees are economical as well.
Fantastic experience: I took my cat to this clinic for the first time and was very pleased with the whole experience. The staff was very friendly and efficient. I will definitely use them in the future for both my cats.
Negative experience: When I paid the deposit for my cat’s dental cleaning, they ran my card twice. Because of that error, my final payment declined. My credit card company confirmed the duplicate deposit charge. Instead of holding the extra payment and calling me, they refunded it (Refunds are not instant), treated me like the problem, and refused to bring out my cat until I signed a financing form “to cover our(their) butts.” This was entirely avoidable and entirely their mistake. Withholding a pet and blaming the owner is unacceptable.
Hi Rachel, we appreciate your feedback and are sorry your experience fell short of expectations. This matter has been carefully reviewed by our team, and the concern has been addressed internally. We have also reinforced our protocols to help prevent a similar occurrence in the future. If there is anything we can do to support you, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful caring vets, have helped my cats get healthy again. Was seen promptly and always feel they love animals :)
Fantastic experience: The staff was great and very friendly. Will definitely be going back with all three of my dogs.
Fantastic experience: With your help, Bentley was feeling better and able to eat the next morning. So, thank you!
Negative experience: This is my dog's primary vet and we've never had a great experience here. We just had a HORRIBLE experience with their urgent care last week. Every single time I have an appointment here, the appointments start 30 minutes to 1.5 hours late. This happens without exception. The last time my dog had a scheduled office visit, I got held up at work and was running a bit behind. When I called the desk to let them know they told me if I didn't get there within 10 minutes of my appointment time they wouldn't see me and I'd have to reschedule. So hypocritical from an office that has literally never once been close to on time. I've also had 2 out of 4 of the vets I've seen here tell me my dog is overweight when she is literally the exact adult weight predicted by her DNA test results. She has consistently been that weight since we brought her home, at every vet appointment weighing in at 22 lbs +/- .2 lbs. No one seems to want to take either of these factors into account and insist on saying she's overweight. One vet in particular, Dr. Hoffman, is cold and does not listen to her patients at all. She increased my dog's fluoxetine prescription without me even asking or my consent. I have a note in my file to never see her again. The urgent care visit happened because that same dog had a cough. She was coughing mildly for a week, and it persisted and got a little worse. I called and they told me they had a 4 pm urgent care appointment. I agreed and drove over. We had to wait in the car to be seen because my dog was likely contagious, which is fine. An hour goes by and we aren't called in. When I called to see if we would be seen by a doctor any time soon, I was told that wait times for urgent care WITH AN APPOINTMENT could take anywhere from 30 minutes to FOUR HOURS. I was irate. Why even have appointments if they're not going to be honored? I lost my temper with the front desk receptionist (for which I apologized; it was wrong and I know she has no control over how poorly run this operation is) but when I asked to speak to a manager, I was just told to send an email or call the front desk to leave a message. Well, here's my message: your hospital is poorly run. Hire more people or take less appointments. Anyway I'm in the market for a new primary vet for my dog because after that nonsense I've totally had it with these folks.
Fantastic experience: They are gentle with my Bella. And very helpful answering my questions. I do wish their dental cleanings were not so expensive.
Fantastic experience: Echo Hollow employees are absolutely awesome! Front desk-Awesome! Techs-Awesome! Dr. Srch-Thaden-Absolutely Awesome! Love love love this office!
Thank you for your kind words
Fantastic experience: Great visit ! We really like the doctor and all of his explanations
Fantastic experience: My 15 year old dog had an eye irritation that was getting worse. Echo Hollow got me in because someone cancelled. My dog was seen immediately and tested for foreign objects or infection and gave me a steroid for the irritation. The whole visit was just over 200.00. Two days of steroid eye drops and her eye is almost normal. The vet was so nice.
Fantastic experience: very friendly & was able to get us in when we accidentally came at the wrong appointment time
Fantastic experience: Echo Hollow and it's staff are phenomenal. Would recommend to anyone with pets.
Positive experience: The last couple times I was at the clinic that male receptionist wasn't there, the atmosphere was pleasant and kind, I was hoping he was no longer working there. I went into the clinic today to find he is actually still there. He is a gloom.
Fantastic experience: They take good care of my pets. Reasonable fees.
Thank you for choosing Echo Hollow for your pets care
Fantastic experience: I love this urgent care and everyone that works there. Have repeatedly helped me with my brawling cat and his injuries.
Fantastic experience: Very good with my German shepherd kind and gentle with zero vet for life
Fantastic experience: I began trusting my dogs’ health maintenance to Veneta Veterinary decades ago. When the Echo Hollow clinic opened, I started going there, because of easier access from my location. I have had nothing but positive experiences with Echo Hollow clinic.
Negative experience: I took another individual in and I am really disappointed in their visit from the check in to check out. The person I'm supporting looks younger than they are but they are a full fledged adult. During check in the receptionist kept looking at me asking questions. I called her out on it and she said she was just looking up. However, i wasn't right in front of her. I was at the other end of the counter so she had to turn her head away from the client to look at me. The vet was nice and spoke gently and overall i like her. Problem was she started addressing an issue that wasn't even the main reason for our visit and was hurrying through so fast that she almost left the room withoutadressing the reason for our visit. After discussing it, she brought in an estimate for care. First problem is the individual thought she had scheduled an appointment when she called last week but it was an urgent care appointment so it's double the cost. The individual says when she talked to them last week they told her the appointment was x amount and scheduled the appointment based on that. They refuse to budge on the amount saying they told her the cost on the phone and she agreed. She ended up taking off a bunch of things she planned on doing because of how much they charge. There was no impaction like we were thinking there might have been. That isn't the fault of the clinic. I don't have the estimate anymore but I'm pretty sure they were charging appx $60 just to trim and shave the cats back end. We removed that and some other things. The anal glands were not impacted and were expressed normally. For that, the office visit and the antibiotic cream she spent $230. I'm not blaming them that this client chose to go there bs a groomer. But I wish we had done that instead. This pricing is highway robbery. After they had already had to cut services just to pay, when at checkout they tried charging her an extra amount. Apparently they added a rabies vaccine on her bill which we never even discussed period so was never even on the estimates. It was just happily added on the back end. It took longer for them to confirm there was no vaccines given then it took to do the analysis gland expression. The individual i was there with has cognitive disabilities, social anxieties and is low income. I'm disappointed in the way I watched them get taken advantage of today. They love their pet an enormous amount and were ready to pay whatever it takes to fix them but your business is ready to take advantage of people caring like that. Sadly, your prices are lower than most other vets too. I will definitely put even more hesitation on taking any of my animals here. I don't like taking them to the vet in general. Animal care is as over priced as human care is and most basic services can be done at home. But for extra fun you get shamed by vets for not providing care from them whereas a human Dr doesn't do it, at least not to the same degree. Which yes, I have experienced being shamed at this clinic as well as other clinics for turning down over priced services. I was told that I'm not a vet and shouldn't try to provide care on my own at home. One last thing is to be aware...... they can schedule you for a regular office visit or they can schedule you for an urgent care appointment. We had an appointment time today and everything. This was not a walk in visit. This was scheduled last week. But they are calling it an urgent care appointment and charging twice as much. I wasn't on the phone call last week so that it's why I didn't dispute this more. But I think that is very misleading to say we can schedule you for an appointment for this much or for this much and it looks like we can get you in on Monday how does that sound. I'm feeling very disappointed in this clinic. They just are all about making money sadly.
Thank you for providing your feedback on our veterinary practice. We take all reviews seriously and strive to provide excellent client service and maintain clear communication with every client.
Fantastic experience: Great care for my dog Sophie. Dr Kenna & staff were so good to work with
Fantastic experience: Got our dog Marley in quick for his annual check up and a couple other concerning things that were going on with him. They are very friendly and professional.
Fantastic experience: We have two new pups and decided to try this clinic based on a friend’s recommendation. Our first experience has been positive!
Fantastic experience: Quick, kind and best of all, my dog likes going to the vet!
Fantastic experience: Love the Staff & Drs! Absolutely wonderful with Mack! So patient and professional! Answered ALL of my questions! Highly recommend!
Negative experience: I've heard reviews about them being great but the receptionist is rude as hell. I am calling vets because I'm looking to put down my fifteen year old dog and she was rude when I got upset about looking at pricing for putting her down. Never got the pricing just hung up on because obviously I'm emotional trying to put down my damn dog and the vet wants to do a quality of life check on her? She is fifteen years old I think I know my dogs quality of life better than any vet seeing her for .5 seconds. Receptionist was rude as hell and needs better compassion training for when someone is already emotionally drained and going throw something hard.
Hello Cheyanne, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are truly sorry for the distress you were feeling that day and for the loss you were facing. Making the decision to say goodbye to a beloved pet is incredibly emotional, and we recognize how difficult that moment can be. We want to offer some clarity behind the examination that needs to occur prior to euthanasia. By law, veterinarians are required to have an established veterinarian-client-patient relationship and to examine a pet prior to performing euthanasia. This examination is not meant to create an additional burden during an already painful time, but instead to ensure we are acting legally, ethically, and in the best interest of the pet. Please know that our team’s intention is always to provide compassionate care and support to both pets and their families.
With sympathy,
The Echo Hollow Team
Fantastic experience: Great place to get your animals treatment best staff and knowledgeable Vet. Update…….. still the best place to get your animals treated great staff and amazing doctor veterinarian. The doctor keeps my little Maggie, so very happy and healthy
Negative experience: I’ve never been treated so bad by staff at a vet. Took our dog there to have him euthanized, paid for the vet visit. They wanted a 150 dollars to determine if he needed to be put down. He was in kidney failure, he was diagnosed two years previous. He was in pain and struggling. The last thing we wanted to do was put our dog down, clearly we only would if it was the last resort!! After paying for the fee’s the stafff refused to do anything till we paid for a urn, even when I said I’ll take his body because we didn’t know if we wanted to Barry him or cremate him. Then when the vet came in she instantly was apologized for the staff. Paid 300 something almost 400 for that. Then they charged another 300 for the urn and cremation. When I came to pick it up the staff was rude as can be grilled me like I was trying to steal someone dogs ashes asking for ID etc. Even though my name was on the account as the one who was gonna pick up the ashes!! Horrible experience, wish my vet was able to deal with it when it was the time!! Nothing worse then paying for a service like that and being treated like crap!!
Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved family member. We take all reviews seriously and strive to provide the highest quality care to our patients and clients. Again, we are very sorry for your loss.
Fantastic experience: I've been going to Echo Hollow for 3 years now and I absolutely love them! I cannot recommend them enough. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the procedures are reasonably priced. I have nothing but good things to say about this vets office
Thank you for your kind words and acknowledgement
Fantastic experience: As always, Tigger and I were greeted with a smile, and we were checked in and seated to wait, which was only a few minute’s When the assistant came for us, she, weighed him and took his temperature, checked his chip , asked if I had any concerns for the doctor. Excused herself and we waited for the Dr. she came in greeted us and was very kind and receipted to Tigger and he to her. Answered my one concern and she said he was in perfect health and all was well.
Thank you for choosing Echo Hollow for Tigger's care
Positive experience: I love that echo hollo veterinary is open until 7pm and that they have an urgent care. I have never had trouble getting my pets to see a Dr. Every one is always very kind . The doctors are very informative really explaining to me in a way I can understand.
Thank you for choosing Echo Hollow for your pets care
Negative experience: They are our family vet. My family puppy ate chocolate and they refussed to help and sent me away. I couldn't believe it. They are always glad to take my money to do pet exams but said no to my first pet of emergency. Sucks i sat in their lobby looking for a vet
Fantastic experience: The receptionist were very friendly!! Time wait was minimal! Got taken in right away!!
Thank you for the kind words and acknowledgement
Fantastic experience: Wow. Impressed. Our regular vet couldn't get us in and Echo Hollow was recommended as an urgent care option. I was getting anxious we wouldn't get our girl Lilly Bug seen in a critical time for a faster growing growth in a difficult part by her tear duct area of the eye due to my work schedule and our vet discontinuing weekend hours so I opted for a Sat. UC appt at this hospital. Front desk staff did great, very upfront about cost for a visit. I know others have commented in reviews front desk staff have issues but I interacted with various staffs several times through all this and found them very professional. I take that to mean they read reviews and are improving processes. Nice! Lilly Bug was seen by Dr. Kenna. She was very through and took the time to answer questions and felt very comfortable with her opinion. Lilly also liked her and the office. We scheduled a surgery the following week for mass removal, pathology reports came back clean(thank goodness), the surgery site was very clean. It is nice work. Dr. K called us multiple times after surgery to relay info and follow up on results. Echo Hollow and Dr. Kenna will be our go to office if our main vet is unavailable for our 3 dogs in the future. Thanks staff for taking care of my Heinz 57, broken eared, head tilted special adopted pup that was rescued from Reno, NV that is an important part of our family here in Oregon.
Fantastic experience: This practice has veterinarians who have decades of experience, teaching and mentoring younger veterinarians who have great people and pet skills.
Fantastic experience: My frenchie rocky had the best experience there. He’s just a baby and didn’t notice the shot or pill. I’ve taken my cat when she was a kitten and the late milla our princess mastiff. Thank you echo hollow veterinary clinic
Thank you for your kind words and trusting Echo Hollow with your pets care
Negative experience: Update to previous post I was mailed a letter saying they’ll no longer help me or my pets. So if you have questions about what you’re paying for, medications your pet doesn’t need, or ask too many questions. They’ll no longer see you. Good luck!! What a joke I thought these people were supposed to be professionals. Worst experience I’ve ever had with any veterinary clinic. Not only was I treated disrespectfully I also had gotten different information from two veterinarian's. Basically I had to come back and forth for like 4 days in a row and was forced to pay for unnecessary procedures done on the animal I brought in. They also clipped my pets nails against my consent and when I asked about it was treated like I was in the wrong. I specifically asked for that not to happen as I had just clipped them barely a week prior and all of her toe nails were bleeding because of them not listening to our needs or what we were asking. That’s just a small example of the amount of disrespect you’ll receive at this location.
Our team is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful environment for both clients and team members. We remain dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to the pets and families in our community. We understand the importance of finding the right veterinarian, and we wish you the best in your search for a new provider who can support your needs.
Fantastic experience: Service was great. Alas it was pretty expensive for a simple travel form for my dog. $150 for checking her temp, heart rate, teeth and filling out a form. It cost $35 when I travel back to the US.
Positive experience: The employees and veterinarian were all pleasant. I have a young healthy dog that has yearly wellness checks so she can get Heartguard, flea & tic meds, and vaccines so she is an easy exam.
Fantastic experience: I LOVE this vet hospital! Caring for my beloved pet and her person. All questions are answered by the vet and reception. I HIGHLY recommend!
Fantastic experience: Every thing was fine. You have a great staff. Very caring. Man working behind counter helped me with my dog! Thank you, Cal
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Echo. They squeezed me in last minute when I was worried about my cat. All interactions with the vet and staff were professional and caring. The doctor was thorough and I felt like Mack got excellent care. Def recommend!
Fantastic experience: Excellent service. In and out in less than an hour for an Urgent Care visit. Impressive!
Fantastic experience: They got me/Casper in to urgent care within 24 hrs. Staff were helpful. Never been here b4.
Fantastic experience: The vet and receptionist were extremely patient with my anxious doberman. They were able to give me a quick solution to help the anxiety to boost her vaccines asap and were extremely caring and kind. Not to mention the pricing is transparent and fair. Thank you guys for making what could be a stressful experience positive!
Negative experience: We took my childhood cat here due to a UTI. The vet we had was kind and seemed optimistic he would make a full recovery, but we were told that he had early stages of kidney disease at the time of his treatment for the infection. We were told it wasn’t anything to worry about for 6 months to a year and to bring him in around that time. It’s been less than a month, and now my cat passed away due to kidney failure just last night. We had questions about preventative medications, a kidney diet, etc and our questions were pushed off as the problem not needing to be addressed yet. It’s incredibly expensive for the lack of effort they seem to put into their care. Do not bring your pets here.
We are grateful for the opportunity to care for your pet. We understand that this is an incredibly difficult time for you and your family, and we offer our heartfelt condolences. If there is anything we can do to support you during this time, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Fantastic experience: Our dog needed surgery to remove tumors and tags. Dr. Hoffman did an excellent job removing everything. We were also very pleased with the price as it was ranged and everything was included; no hidden fees or anything like that. We would recommend Echo Hollow Veterinary to anyone in Eugene. They truly do care about your pet(s). Our dog was having seizures and we werent sure why. We returned to see Dr. Hoofman who was honest and straight forward with us. Sadly, we had to put our boxer down due to a brain tumor. The entire staff was respectful and we were given all the time we needed to say goodbye to our beloved family member. A short time later we received a card in the mail containing his paw prints. They care about you, and your four legged family members.
Fantastic experience: The staff there is always so friendly and knowledgeable. My pup has high anxiety and they are always calm and patient with her
Fantastic experience: Dr. Kenna was amazing with my girl Samantha Anna. Her dental surgery went very well and she is doing good. Cannot even tell that there was damaged teeth. My girl has fresh breath again and a beautiful smile. Not to mention pain-free!
Negative experience: They don’t have experience with K9s and are very averse to Malinios. They say they have a vet tech that is comfortable with Mals but we have been turned away from here for not sedating our anxious Mal. Not an aggressive dog, a scared dog. Did they offer to bring her in a back door to help the anxiety? No, they say drug her or don’t come. Santa Clara vet has NEVER done this. They work with you and your pet to help the pet feel comfortable. Santa Clara cares, Echo Hollow just wants to charge you! If you have a Mal, head to Santa Clara, don’t even call Echo Hollow.
Hello Jess, we’re committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for every pet and client, and we’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet those expectations.
Fantastic experience: Love all the staff there. They are knowledgable and pleasant. You can call or make an appointment on line to get in quickly. i take all my pets there.
Positive experience: I am very selective on the vet I use due to issues with other dogs I have. They mean a lot to me. Dr. Penfold is the best there but was on vacation. I tried another vet there and was quite happy with him and Grace did ok with him.
Fantastic experience: The staff are great even when they are busy always have a great attitude! I really appreciate that! They are good with my neurotic dog I do think he is getting better with the personal .
Positive experience: Great visit, staff was friendly, Vetrenarian was knowledgeable, pricing was fair. Only reason not a 5 is they couldn’t process a CC that ao wanted to use for full payment.
Fantastic experience: They took good care of Cheech the cat. Explained everything very well and made sure we had all the information. Very pleasant & friendly people working there!
Fantastic experience: Echo Hollow vets and staff provide caring and knowledgeable service! We are new to the area and very happy to have found them!
Negative experience: It pains me to write this review. I've brought my dog, a rabbit I was fostering, and later my cat to this vet for at least 5 years. I've never missed a payment or an appointment. The care itself from the vets and vet techs was adequate. I was never unhappy with that aspect. The prices seem reasonable. The office management however is severely lacking. Over the past few years they have become increasingly concerned with the potential of people not paying for services. Which is understandable as I'm sure that happens. But it isn't an excuse to treat established patients (owners of patients?) like they're dishonest and looking to rip the business off. In addition to that, the wait times are unreasonable. Often I was sitting around 20-40 minutes after my scheduled appointment waiting to be seen. I never complained and remained patient. One time they prescribed my cat a new medication. They told me to crush the pill up and put it in his food. When I did that he wouldn't eat his food at all. I told them about it and they said "of course not, those pills are very bitter you'll need to put it down his throat". When I pointed out they told me to crush it up they said "mistakes happen". I ended up paying MORE money for a different, topical medicine that they hadn't even told me was an option in the first place. The last straw was today when I arrived on time for my 10:30 appointment. I made this appointment a month ago, in person. I added an event to my calendar, as well as a written note for myself. Scheduling is a large aspect of my job and I am certain I did not get the event, written note, and my memory of the interaction wrong. When I arrived today at 10:30, one of the ladies at the desk said she remembered making the appointment over the phone because she loves cattle dogs. This appointment was not made over the phone, or by a woman, but she insisted she remembered. Whatever. They had me fill out paperwork for a new office financial policy, and give them information that they should absolutely already have from an established client. After filling this out and waiting even longer, they came over to tell me because I was over 10 minutes late to my "10:15" appointment, they were going to charge me $43 for an "urgent" appointment. The lady telling me this claimed it wasn't her choice and there's absolutely nothing she can do. I don't want to come to a vet where your staff feel powerless to make a compassionate choice that takes into consideration the history of a client. I don't want to give my time and money to a vet who can't admit it's possible they made a scheduling mistake. If you need patients to arrive 15 minutes prior to an appointment, you should tell them that. You lost a long established client, who has recommended your business to multiple people over the years, over 15 minutes. I'm sure you'll be fine without me, but I'm looking forward to never coming back here.
We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear about your recent experience didn’t meet expectations. We pride ourselves on providing excellent client service and would like the opportunity to address your concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly to discuss the matter further.
Fantastic experience: The doctors, techs, and receptionists were professional, compassionate, and very kind as they helped my cat through an emergency and supported me in making some very difficult decisions. I didn’t feel pressured, and I truly felt like the docs had the best interest of my beloved cat in their minds. Dr Kenna and Dr Diaz especially went above and beyond to help us, and their kindness will be forever remembered.
Negative experience: My dog had some tumors removed. When I picked up my dog she was covered in dog poop. Dried dog poop. Did that get in the 2 incisions? I understand dogs can have bowel irregularities under anesthesia but this was sad and disrespectful to my pup and makes me question the all around level of care. I called to inform them and they said best we can do is put a note in my file. I simply wanted this to not happen to the next doggie. Someone's not doing their job. They did a pedicure, but her feet were caked in dried dog poop, and it looks like the pedicure happened in that condition. The claw tips were ground clean and the rest covered in poo. Completely unacceptable. Careless. Echo Hollow, do you understand these are our family members. TLDR: $2000 surgery sent home covered in shit.

Fantastic experience: I made a same day appointment for my cat for urgent care and the process was efficient and one of the best experiences I’ve had at vets office. They were honest, quick, kind and up front with the prices. I have been here before for a pet emergency years back and they were equally as kind and efficient. Thank you, we will be coming back for regular care as well
Negative experience: My dog had blood in her urine I suspected she had a UTI, I was not able to get an appointment with our vet soon enough for this situation so they suggested the two emergency vet hospitals in Springfield. I was thrilled to know there was an urgent care for dogs and cats in Eugene, but did not realize that it could take up to 4 hours before being seen that was fine except I have a 14+ year old dog that became very stressed. What mainly took so long is miscommunication, well I was right my dog had a UTI. Antibiotics were prescribed. On top of all this when I was told to bring in a sample of my dogs urine 3-4 days after completing the antibiotics. I asked if there was another charge, I was told no unless after 30 days. It was only two weeks so I called I was told to drop of sample but must be within an hour of last urine. I did this and was told I would get results of test e-mail or text I did not so I called following day. Well then I was told that the Doctor that saw her was not there that day and if I could bring in another sample. I did and they were going charge me another 85 dollars, can you believe that. After having to take in two urine samples I could tell that she was fine so for them to charge me and to tell me what I already new. I thank them for there help in this situation, but I will never go back for being told one thing and not being up front.!!??!

Positive experience: I absolutely *LOVE* The veterinarians here. But that office staff specifically the front desk, do better. You guys are rude as heck and just kind of daft at the interactions with people. I've been coming here for a long time and spent thousands of dollars here. . . Just because I love the doctors. But dang man, maybe invest in some classes in customer service for the that front line. Just calling to get a refill script for one of my dogs IS a hassle let alone if I have to come in and deal with the front desk.
Fantastic experience: Super friendly and helpful. Me and my dog moved back to Oregon after living in Virginia. They welcomed us and listened to all the things my dog had been throughout her life. They also have Pro Heart 12 which is a huge bonus. I would definitely recommend Echo Hollow to anyone.
Fantastic experience: I'm happy with the care I've received from the vets. In the past I've waited over an hour for a scheduled appointment but the last two appointments have been on time.
Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Echo Hollow vet clinic for years now and have always been surprised by how great of an experience we always have. They are very affordable and very kind and accommodating. We recommend them to everyone we know with pets.
Fantastic experience: Veterinary offices are busy places, and it can be difficult to get an appointment - but Echo Hollow has been very good about working me in with appointments when there is some urgency involved for one of my canine or feline familiars. While no one likes to wait, when you NEED your pet to be seen, they make it happen. Each of the vets I've seen has familiarized themself with the details on file about my pet and asks questions and does a thorough exam. I get an explanation of what is going on - usually without asking for it - because that is just how they roll - good communication. I wish the clinic was closer to my home, but I am so happy with how it does its job that I am willing to drive out of the way for their consistently excellent service.
Negative experience: If you have a nervous/scared/fearful animal Dont take your animal here to see dr.Thaden . A little insight on this - I have a nervous/fearful animal only while at the vet. (muzzled when in the office/room as well as held by myself and one of my "helpers" so he could not get his face near her, even though he was MUZZLED the whole time.) that we have taken him in 3 times for the same issue , and she has NEVER touched him or got close enough to him to give a proper diagnosis. Now fast forward, took him in to get neutered. When the appointment for this was made we were told it would be around $500, get there for check in and the price tripled in a matter of 3 days. Absolutely asinine. When confronted about the price the ENTIRE staff couldnt explain why it went up nor could they take accountability for any of the false information, turned things around on us making us look like the bag guys because we were frustrated and pissed off about the entire situation. I have since gotten a new vet whom is AMAZING, doesn't over charge, as well as LISTENS TO MY CONCERNS ABOUT MY ANIMALS, and is not scared of my dog, and has actually been super helpful and takes the time to actually look at my dog. I do not recommend taking your animals here if they are fearful/anxious/nervous etc. Because dr. Thaden will deem your animal dangerous because of your animal being fearful, anxious, nervous , or scared. Please do your research and look at reviews to ensure your making the best possible decision for your animals. Sorry for the long review but who knows how many others have experienced this and I will give people my experiences.
Negative experience: I took two cats here that had been shot. The first experience was great and they helped my cat in an emergency situation. So I brought my next cat who had been shot there. This second vet used my emotional distress and manipulated me into thinking that my only prudent choice was to sign my cat over to them. She fixed my cat for free and then gave my cat to her friend. Whereas she made it seem that I had to pay thousands of dollars. If she could do it for free for her friend, she could've done it for free for me. She wanted to give my cat to get friend. I wish I was in the right frame of mind. I would've taken my cat elsewhere or pushed harder and still had my cat today. Well, now I am in a better state of mind. She stole my cat. I'll never come here again. Do not come here if you value your pet. You might not leave with it...
Fantastic experience: It was great. They treat your pets nice. But just know that if you have a dog or cat then watch out cause the dogs bark in there.
Fantastic experience: Our visit with Echo Hollow staff and Dr. Kena went very well. Lucy our 5 month old Frenchton was pleased to with her care, not letting out a pep during vaccinations or her examination. Dr. Kena took time to answer our questions and shared past experiences as cautionary tales often giving financial expenses for owners poor judgments. We are scheduled for follow up visits and feel confident our pup’s care is in good hands.
Fantastic experience: From day one in taking my new puppy to Echo Hollow veterinary Hospital to current, has been very easy. From the point of scheduling, to the appointment time, to the vets and vet assistants, I have had nothing but positive visits. They are very patient with my inpatient and hyper 16 month old Rottie. I have nothing but good things to say about this clinic and will continue to see them in the future
Fantastic experience: While going to the vet is an anxious ordeal, my dogs don't mind going to Echo Hollow. They are always kind and helpful when it comes to my babes. Thank you for making it a less stressful visit for all of us!
Negative experience: 04/2025 we took our 15 month old German Shepherd,Odi, in for a scheduled urgent care appointment. Rash covering most of his body and signs of an ear infection of some sort. Odi was also due for his Bordetella Oral. After waiting an hour we were escorted to examination room which seems to be average wait time for an urgent care appointment. That’s fine, we get it. Oh and that’s $126 right off the top. The vet tech came in approximately 30 minutes later and told us the Doctor will be with us shortly. Same vet tech along with another vet tech were unable to get a rectal temperature. By far the worst veterinary technician that I’ve ever had. She had no patience with my dog or my girlfriend and I. Her demeanor was negative and she was very aggressive towards Odi. She snapped at me when I comforted Odi while she attempted to get his heart rate. She advised me to hold on to Odi as tight as I can and to put all my weight on him. After approximately 5-7 seconds I politely told her that she was not going to be able to handle the situation. She exited the room. 40 minutes later the doctor finally came in the room. She was absolutely fantastic with Odi. Very professional, patient and friendly with Odi and us. She got a temperature and heart rate within minutes. She made it look easy. After showing the vet our concerns for Odi, we were told he needed 3 other Oral’s/vacinations. It was “close enough “ for the due dates. That’s another $139. Did an ear swab-cytology, another $71. Prescribed 4 different medications including shampoo for another $227. All told it was a $565.95 trip to the vet. We did not get any answers regarding Odi’s issues. No phone call from the hospital like they said they would do. I called 5/5/2025, one month later. I was told all the information of the previous appointment, yeah no s?&!, thanks for reminding me of the 31/2 hour wallet party y’all had for me. When I asked the phone answerer for the second time if they had any idea of what caused Odi to be in that condition I was asked “would you like to make an appointment?” I said no thank you, I will be taking Odi to a different veterinarian. Also, they didn’t have correct data on file. They asked about heart worm medication. We told them that they already did that. They disagreed and insisted that he be tested. We got home and confirmed they had already tested and prescribed the medication several months prior. One word sums it up at EHVH&UC…….INCOMPETENCE. Odi deserves better and he’ll receive better wherever we end up, I’m sure of that.
Negative experience: Last visit was me waiting for over two hours. Appointment was at 4 got seen around 6. Paid for two exams for my dog and cat. The vet saw us for about 3 minutes per animal. This is unethical medical care. I’m sure it was not a full exam. I just found out they never gave my cat her shots. (The reason we were there) The receptionist said it was because my cat had a condition. Wouldn’t you tell the owner?!? No! Because Dr. Hammond examined him for about three minutes. That is not exaggerating. I was exhausted. The animals were over stressed. They should have rescheduled. Then we were sent out to wait in the waiting room again only to be chastise for two dogs talking to one another. I’ve been told most vets have you wait in a room and do payment in the exam room to avoid interactions. This was a great vet, it is now only about getting your money. Your pets will suffer like mine did.
Fantastic experience: We had our Blue Heeler treated here for what was thought to be acute pancreatitis. All the staff was wonderful, kind, and caring. We felt very comfortable with the treatments for our girl. Ultimately, we had to make the decision to let her cross the rainbow bridge, we know she got the best possible care, and the doctors did everything to try and save her while keeping her comfortable. We're grateful for the amazing people at Echo Hollow and for all that they do.
Negative experience: This was the worst experience of my life started at front desk 3 women there no compassion no professionalism. We made a 530 appt for our pet to be put to sleep the hardest decision to make we were brought to a room a clerk came in weighed her listened to her heart and left we waited another 45 minutes listening to slamming doors people talking loudly outside our sick dying pets room not one ounce of empathy or compassion for what we were going through or our pet no urgency with taking care or her pain and discomfort, my husband and I looked at each other had the same thought what are they going to do with her body while she waits to be cremated, we had no trust in them treating her with respect because they hadn’t so far. We still sat for a few more minutes and decided this is not the last place we want her to remember, we walked out and brought her home where if she passes tonight she will be around love and peace what every pet deserves.
Negative experience: Updated review: Sad to say Echo Hollow has gone way down hill and we have since left. I have talked to others that have left for the same reasons we did, so clearly not an isolated case. The front office staff, vet techs and vets at Echo Hollow are very kind and knowledgable. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait, but with the clinic also being an urgent care and the shortage of vets overall, that is to be expected. We have had high need and low need pets as patients here and would not hesitate to recommend them!
Fantastic experience: Our visit at Echo Hollow was beyond expectations. We have had unpleasant experiences with veterinarians in the past, so it was wonderful to have our cat and us treated so well. The doctor was very understanding as well as practical and we came to difficult decisions together. Highly recommended.
Negative experience: We used to love Echo Hollow and had been with them since they opened. Over the years and rotating vets we've had horrible situations with care for our animals. The last visit was our last when we had to put our dog to sleep and we're refused having a catheter put in to give the shot. 2 hours later and our dog getting poked over and over what should have been a beautiful goodbye turned into a shit show. One of the most unprofessional situations with vet care. This was 5 years ago. I just came across this Google review where I had given Echo Hollow 5 stars and a raving review that was from 2018. I felt I needed to update this to give fair warning to the next client that the grab bag of vets in and out each day that happens there you might end up with one of the worst experiences in your life. Hopefully since October 2020 they have gotten thier professionalism back up.
Negative experience: My daughter and I showed up with our cat who was at a point of needing emergency treatment. My daughter was holding him and it was CLEAR there was something wrong. Initially they said they'd take him back but then brought up needing payment which obviously I understand and was willing to pay, however my check wouldn't clear for 12 more hours so they turned us away saying "Maybe he'll make it to tomorrow and you can come back." Guess what... he didn't make it. He died in my daughters arms while we were begging friends to borrow the money. Thanks a lot.
Fantastic experience: Amazing vets and assistants. Worth the extra drive for me compared to closer vet clinics even though my pet hates car rides. Having an urgent care in the same clinic has also been a game changer. The exam rooms are super clean and spacious and services are reasonably priced for the quality of care provided.
Fantastic experience: ❤️ Thank you Echo Hollow I so appreciate all the care my pup's received. The front desk staff were extremely considerate and caring. The techs were all professional, kind and thoughtful. The doctor was excellent and very informative. My pup's had the best of care. ❤️
Negative experience: My 4 year old very healthy dog passed and i was left with so many questions. My dog started vomiting and not eating, took her there and they said there was something stuck and that she would need surgery or they that they could give her something to see if would pass, so they did, no bloodwork done for some reason before they gave her the medication, took her home that night and she pooped some of the medication she got, took her the next and the vet notice that her eyes and gums were extremely yellow, after that they diagnosed her with liver failure and very bad prognosis, so they told us it was either putting her down or we could try a plasma treatment, so we did it, they put plasma the first day and took her home, still very active and playful, took her the next day for the second plasma treatment, came back to get her and as soon as we got home she could barely walk and was very disoriented, they next day we took her the vet told us that for some reason the vet from the day before didnt put the treatment on my dog, so once again we left her there and when we went to pick her up the vet said there was nothing more to do and we had to put her down. Two week later two of our 15 year old dogs got sick with the same symptoms and we decided to take them to the clinic in Springfield Wilvet South where after some bloodwork they diagnosed a virus on them and with medication and a light diet they got better, it took a whole week to get them better but they pulled through. So after $6000 and the worst pain in my heart i still dont know if it was the medication they gave my dog or the treatment that they missed or the fact that there was no bloodwork done before anything, but i will not trust my dogs with those vets. It also seems that they dont have a record of what they do since the vet kept on asking staff if they gave her certain medication the day before, how do you not know what your patient was given the day before?
Fantastic experience: I was unable to get my sick cat into his regular veterinarian and Echo Hollow was recommended. We got an appointment the next day. The entire staff was friendly and professional...wonderful to work with. They were extremely efficient...and so loving to my kitty. I knew I would have them treat both of my kitties in the future. I felt welcome and at home in the office. Every follow up visit with my 2 cats has been wonderful. The wait for them to be seen is always short and the entire visit goes smoothly. The staff is great...it is obvious that each one of them loves their job and the animals they treat. The staff always informs me what the treatment entails, answers questions and I never feel rushed. I completely trust them with the care of my cats.
Fantastic experience: Awesome, knowledgeable and treated our Buddy above standards. Buddy Loves them too
Fantastic experience: My experience at Echo Hollow Vet Hospital was nothing short of amazing. My 13 yr old dog had an immediate loss of use of his back legs. The vet I saw , Dr Elizabeth Hoffman , diagnosed him perfectly. With the diagnosis and prescribed medication , he was up and walking within a few days, and continues to improve. I was so concerned that he would have to be euthanized The cost of the visit was reasonable as well. Thank you so much Dr Hoffman and staff !
Negative experience: !!BEWARE OF THIS VET!! After being a loyal client for almost a DECADE, I pulled both my pets from care here. Early last year tumors showed up on my cats belly. I brought her in for an appt. Cancer was confirmed. Doc noted on my account to go ahead and do the surgery when I could afford it. Once I had figured out a way to pay for the operation (about a month later) I made another appointment. When I made this appointment I asked if the surgery could still be done since it was for 2:30/3 pm & that seemed late in the day to me. I was told yes it could. I brought my cat in & the doc was CONSTANTLY being pulled out of the room due to emergencies. The appointment took 2-3 hours & we left without the surgery. Now as someone who has utilized their emergency care in the past I am patient when it comes to understanding others needed to be helped before us. However, I spent more time waiting for the doc to come back to the room & finish our conversation than anything. She scheduled us a surgery appointment for the next week after the doc did tests to make sure my cat was healthy enough for surgery. A day before our new surgery appointment we get a call from echo hollow, our doctor had gotten hurt & they were finding a replacement. They push our appointment out another week, I express my concern to wait longer & am basically told “too bad”. When I get my cat back to them for the surgery I am told we need to pay, again, for tests I had already had done. I request the fees to be dropped for the tests, due to them being understaffed and never quoting me for these tests pre surgery to begin with. They waive the fees. Tests come back this time and now they tell me I need to get my cat a blood transfusion (another $1200-1300) in order to do the surgery. We leave without surgery, again. May I also add, never once did any doc speak to us on how to care for her in the meantime. I call back the next day to speak with management about my experience. They have the owner call me. This man spoke over me the entire time, regurgitating pointless info I had already been told and was fully aware of, trying to side with both doctors simultaneously (the first who said she was fine & the second who said she was and had been ineligible for surgery) he was rude & didn’t want to hear how badly their team had dropped the ball. At the end of the phone call, after telling him multiple times to stop speaking over me, I had to just hang up on him. I took my cat to a specialist where the doctor there gave me ALL of the information on my cats ACTUAL health. They also said, after looking over both sets of tests, that they wouldn’t have suggested the infusion… Needless to say I will NEVER go back to Echo Hollow, all they are after is your money!! Later on I found out I’m not alone in how they treated me & that they are under new ownership.
Fantastic experience: I can’t speak enough gratitudes and praises for this place. The whole staff work their butts off but are somehow always kind, the doctors are determined, smart and take all your concerns seriously. I will never leave this place as long as it stays like this.
Negative experience: They had my review deleted so I’m going to repost. This was about 4 years ago so maybe there is new staff but I highly doubt it. They are always rude to customers and rude about the phone going off while you’re in there. They got the medicines swapped on my kittens and prescribed my runt kitten way too much medicine and if I didn’t notice it, it could’ve seriously hurt him. When I brought it up they were very rude to me about it. I’ve also seen other reviews in the past about them prescribing poorly and hurting the animals from it. I’ve also seen worse reviews than those that aren’t on here anymore…suspicious
Negative experience: People I live with pried my cat out of my hands and took her here without my consent. She was given shots and I didn't get any documents for what they were.. she came home panting and scared hiding under the bed..they made an appointment to have her fixed and I tried to cancel..I spoke with a girl who worked there who said her name was Summer. She was very rude to me, she would't let me cancel the appointment stating that: "Your sister told me everything about you and that she is not even your cat! I was told not to listen to you and to not let you try to call and cancel the appointment." I responded: "So.. you just listen to what the first person who brings her in says? You don't try to confirm ownership with documents? You don't say something like let us speak with her first? Why do you think they would need to tell you that I might try to call and cancel? I don't want you or shady people that do shady things like this performing surgical procedures on my cat." I then called out a bunch of sanctions under the animal welfare & protection act, and how they would rather gossip about someone that they have not yet met that was not even present, also found in the social & economic welfare act.. she thankfully cancelled the appointment but I think that they should have been closed down for what happened that day. The shots they said were for worms but then why did she have tapeworm after being in there. My did not have fleas before she went there. She came back from there with them. I wouldn't recommend this place they gossip and make decisions without the pet owners consent. Labe county animal services rules that all members of the household who feed the cat are the owner but this lady sounded like she had intentions of wrongdoing. I fear for any animal someone brings here. County commissioners should shut them down. Really if they knew I was going to call and try to cancel then they had to have already known I would feel like I had a legitimate reason to be scared to have my cat operated on here.. I am afraid to bring my animals here or to any place like this .. make sure they remember you are the owner of the pet anywhere you go. Most places only care about money. Why would shots cost 112$ if I never before had been asked to pay that much.
Fantastic experience: Dr Sweitzer and her team saved our fur baby Rex’s life. Rex is a brat to strangers but that did not stop her from treating him compassionately. She was honest, upfront and we trusted her the whole way through. Her expertise and devotion during surgery saved him. Thank you a million times Dr Sweitzer!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic customer service and have taken great care of both our kitties. One of our kitties had a second abcess show up in 6 weeks that required operation, they got us in and taken care of after a few hour wait but the price was much better than the vet we took him to initially.
Negative experience: In May we had to euthanize our dog and was made to wait way too long for such a trying time. It was scheduled too. I am currently at 1 hour and 45 minutes this visit with nearly an hour in the actual exam room. We are done. The only plus to EHV is the price. I’ll pay to not leave work or spend our limited time on earth waiting. Just schedule less folks. This is simple b
Fantastic experience: My whole family uses this hospital for our animals. Just about every time I'm in the waiting room, there is a person that is upset and taking their frustrations out in the front desk person. I understand that our pets are our family, and when they are in pain, so are we. Each time I've witnessed this happening, I'm very proud of the staff for their calm and professional manner. Never have.I witnessed a staff member at this facility.Express anything but professionalism. Yesterday there was a disgruntled customer expressing to the nice lady at the counter and she kept her response as professional as she could, descalating the situation, the best that she could. I believe this lady's name was Barbara. I am very grateful That echo hollow veterinary hospital and urgent care employees, people like Barbara. She seems to be a very kind and caring woman who loves what she does. Because of the employees and staff here at this veterinary clinic is why we choose to always bring our animals here. Thank you Barbara.
