Fantastic experience: I called in at 3:35 on a Monday because my 12 yo cat was showing signs no pet owner wants to see. They were able to get me into the office at 4. From the first phone call to the moments I was walking out the door, every employee showed nothing but care and passion for their job. Unfortunately, I left the office with one less family member than when I walked in. It was her time. They provided honest opinions and realistic options for what I could’ve expected had my sweet girl came home with me. They gave me plenty of time (in office per my request) to say my goodbyes and made the process at quick and pain free as possible for the both of us. My fiance and I gave a dog and plan to switch to coastal vet for her care in the future.

Negative experience: We have been going to Coastal Veterinary for over four years and, until recently, have had consistently positive experiences. We absolutely loved Dr. Avery before she left the practice, and we have also had good experiences with the other veterinarians there. Unfortunately, our visit on Saturday, December 27th with Dr. Griffith was deeply disappointing and concerning. As dog parents to two French bulldogs, we are very familiar with veterinary care, including emergency visits and complex conditions. One of our Frenchies required IVDD surgery earlier this year, so when our second Frenchie began showing similar symptoms and was clearly in pain, we took him to Coastal for evaluation. During this visit, Dr. Griffith was dismissive, rushed, and showed a lack of respect for our concerns. He did not take the time to listen, brushed off our observations, and rushed through the exam. His bedside manner was shocking and completely inconsistent with the level of care we have come to expect, especially given that he is reportedly the lead veterinarian at the practice. What was most alarming was the lack of diagnostics or clear medical assessment. No X-rays were performed, no diagnostic conclusions were provided, and we left the visit with two prescriptions, one of which contained incorrect dosing information. By the following day, our dog’s condition worsened, and we had to seek emergency care elsewhere. Thankfully, Capital Veterinary provided thorough, compassionate, and appropriate emergency treatment. We would not recommend Dr. Griffith based on this experience, and we have made the difficult decision to transfer our veterinary care elsewhere. Dismissive behavior, poor communication, and medication errors are not experiences we are willing to repeat when it comes to our pets’ health and safety.

Fantastic experience: I would like to clearly state that I will not see Dr. Griffin. Dr. Hanson is the only veterinarian I trust to care for my pets. Dr. Hanson has consistently been kind, patient, and compassionate. She has provided excellent care for my Ragdoll cat, Jolley, including his neuter surgery and all of his initial vaccinations. I have complete confidence in her clinical judgment and bedside manner. I also have a rescued female Snowshoe cat named Brea, approximately two years old. She was pulled from the Baker County kill shelter by the Gainesville Humane Society and adopted by me in March. At the time of adoption, Brea was prescribed 100 mg of gabapentin daily for anxiety. I was advised by Humane Society staff to consider another cat due to her anxiety, but I was committed to adopting her despite knowing she would require patience and behavioral work. Over time, Brea has made significant progress. She is now comfortable being petted, and her vaccinations are not due until March 2026. On December 13, I had a veterinary appointment scheduled with Dr. Griffin. Due to Brea’s anxiety, transporting her without gabapentin would have been highly distressing and potentially unsafe. On a previous occasion, while attempting to medicate her for a flea treatment, she panicked and jumped from the top of a loft staircase. I did not want to risk re-traumatizing her, especially given the progress she has made. My intention that day was simply to obtain a single dose of flea medication. The clinic already had Brea’s medical records, and I had communicated my concerns to the front desk several days prior to the appointment. Despite this, Dr. Griffin stated that he would not prescribe any medication for an animal he had not personally examined, citing Florida law. When I explained the difficulty of safely transporting her, Dr. Griffin asked whether anyone could help me trap her. I explained that my husband was unavailable that day due to work, and that I had scheduled the Saturday appointment because I work during the week. I was then asked whether I could bring Brea in later that same day, which would have required dosing her with gabapentin—something I explicitly stated I wanted to avoid unless absolutely necessary. At that point, despite her care originating with the Gainesville Humane Society, Dr. Griffin suggested that I “take her to Gainesville” or contact them to obtain a prescription. This response was deeply disappointing and demonstrated a lack of empathy for both the animal’s history and her current behavioral needs. The request was solely for flea prevention, not controlled medication or elective treatment. Although I proceeded with Jolley’s appointment that day, I left feeling uncomfortable and dismissed. Based on this interaction, I have decided that Dr. Griffin will not be involved in the care of my pets going forward. I want to emphasize that every other staff member at the practice has been exceptional. The veterinary technicians, front desk staff, and office team are consistently professional and kind. Ashley, in particular, has been wonderful and compassionate. My concern is limited solely to this interaction with Dr. Griffin.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this place.. I went today and the vet was amazing, he made sure I understood everything from the ultrasound to the blood work...if you want the best care for your fur baby this is the place and they offer daycare and much more...the whole team was and always have been the best and amazing team...

Fantastic experience: I’ve been bringing my pup to Coastal Vet for well over 10 years, and the care has always been outstanding. Recently, my dog developed some eye issues, and the team was able to get us in for an appointment the very same day. Their responsiveness, professionalism, and genuine concern for my pet’s well-being truly stand out. After a decade of consistent, compassionate service, I can confidently say Coastal Vet is a place I highly recommend to anyone looking for trusted veterinary care.

Fantastic experience: Our precious 11 yrar old cat presented with her limping and her front paw pads were swollen. Dixie is totally indoor kitty. The care received was prompt and courteous. Dixie was diagnosed with basically auto immune and spongy paw. A shot of steroids and we are waiting on call for a continuous medication. She is resting comfortably. We recvd a follow up call the following day.

Fantastic experience: The support representatives with Coastal Veterinary Hospital are the most helpful, responsive and knowledgeable in the industry. The veterinarians are second to none!

Negative experience: While the veterinarians were kind, I was concerned that the office inflated prices against the best interests of their patients: -- To give our pet fluids at home, they charged more than $50 for one bag of saline, 2-3 needles, and IV line. A close friend is a vet tech and advised that vet offices order saline in bulk and pay less than $5 per bag. That’s 10x markup. -- $23 for Mal-A-Ket Wipes (50 count), which were available for $10 on Amazon, Chewy, VetRX Direct, etc. -- $12 drop-off fee for a procedure. At every visit, there was a lengthy wait time -- even when they are charging $12 drop-off fee. For one ultrasound, they rescheduled the appointment four times. When the day finally arrived, I waited for 25 minutes in the lobby to "drop-off" my dog. Though I pleaded to the front desk that I needed to get to a work meeting, they did nothing. They still charged the convenience fee -- while I accommodated their change four times and was made late. These prices / policies could cause some people to forgo care for their pet.

Fantastic experience: After ingesting a LOT of chocolate, I rushed my dog to an ER vet. A few days after, he started to have major GI issues. Being a new resident of Jacksonville, I had no primary care vet on hand for my guy so the ER recommended Coastal. They took him in day of, did a thorough assessment and provided a solid treatment plan. I left the vet feeling extremely confident and reassured that my dog would be okay which went a long way (given the severity of his case). He is still in recovery but since ingesting chocolate a week and a half ago, he’s never been better! Dr. Reardon and her team were awesome during his care there, following up with me every couple of days to check in on his progress.

Fantastic experience: I could not be more grateful for the staff at Coastal! They are always so helpful when I bring my car sick cat in lol. They always follow up with care.

Negative experience: Grooming this day was a super negative experience. the smell terrible in the facility Ellie was stressed to the extreme, and her bath seriously she smelled and she was not clean. I had to rebath her. I will not be back. $49 out the door.

Fantastic experience: They always do a great job with our old boy! We bring him in every 4 weeks for a librela injection. The staff is always very friendly and we are usually in and out quick! They also offer a lot of other services there as well so it's a 1 stop shop.

Fantastic experience: Just an annual visit for our dog. Dr. Wilson is the best vet. She is always sweet and compassionate. The team yells out our dogs’ names when we walk in like we’re on the set of ‘Cheers’.

Fantastic experience: I’m a longtime happy customer. My own dog and my grand-dog have been to the daycare and always loved it. Unfortunately my dog,Bergie, gradually got sick and passed in January. He recognized the buildings and was so excited about it. Now my grand-dog is receiving Labrela shots for her condition and she is getting so much relief. The doctors and staff are amazing

Fantastic experience: Was recommended by my daughter my pet was experiencing issues of not eating a fever and coughing could not get my regular vet to return my call so I made the wise choice to see the team at Coastal! Dr. Wilson and her staff were exceptional and detailed they recommended a treatment plan for my pet going into a long weekend, so far so good my pet seems to be on the up side time will tell! Thank you Coastal for all you do. You have gained another patient.

Fantastic experience: Dr Alex and his entire team were so nice and listened to my concerns and of course they treated our pup Junie like a princess! I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a veterinary clinic.

Fantastic experience: Great vet! We started there last year when our puppy Winnie was sick. We had tried another vet before with no help. The vet at coastal diagnosed and treated the condition perfectly and she has been super healthy ever since. They also follow up after visits.

Fantastic experience: I can’t explain how incredibly compassionate and kind the staff is. I was not a client of there’s but had a horrible accident occur with a cat at my workplace and animal control was no help and a resident where I work called them to see if they could assist and with out hesitation they came through! I will be bringing my new kitten to them and recommending them to everyone I know!

Fantastic experience: We have never been in a veterinarian place that our dogs did not shake at from nervousness: from being nervous being in a strange place, being around people they do not know, from all the shots, temperature etc. They suspect that we are at the Vets the minute we get there usually & don't even want to get out. Arrived here with 3 puppy dogs & opened the door to put leashes on & they all ran out excited. Then leashed up & went to grass area in front to do their business and still in an excitement. Entered your building and not nervous at all from any of them. All the way to going to their assigned room, meeting everyone (Staff was amazing with them & made them feel comfortable!), to doctor coming in and doing her thing and so much more. When they took each one in the back room & brought them back staff was loving on them and no nervousness at all (forgot to mention we have part Chihuahua & part Dachshund & usually nervousness sets in quickly with them) All 3 actually made themselves very comfortable laying on their floor. I was in totally amazement! So Thank you ALL for taking good care of our 2 pups (Izzy & Camo) and my daughter's pup (Chako)

Fantastic experience: I have had the best experiences since bringing Onyx to Coastal Veterinary Hospital. I had heard from others that this clinic was top notch so my wife and I decided to give it a try. My best buddy was approaching 10 years old and we wanted the best care for him going forward. The staff has been very accommodating and compassionate to us all and we truly feel they care about Onyx as much as we do!

Fantastic experience: My Japanese Chin had blood in his urine. Dr. Jacob’s did a very thorough physical, explaining what he was doing as he did it. We discussed options and decided what to do. I was really impressed with his dedication! I’m glad Dr Jacob’s was on duty !!

These folks are smiling, and the Dr is down to earth and can have a conversation, verses shaming me the whole time to sell me something Lucy doesn't need. Fantastic experience: We love Coastal vet and appreciate all the services there. I know we recently saw Dr. Bissell, and he was attentive and through. We usually see Dr. Jacobs, and we have, in the past seen Dr. Lipp and Dr. Wilson. All the providers are very professional and kind and courteous to us, as well as the pets. The grooming services are very good, as well. We have not used the overnight care facilities in several years, but we were always pleased with the care our pets got, while they stayed an extended period.

Fantastic experience: I was visiting from out of town and the office worked with me to get my cat seen within 24 hours for an urgent visit. The were kind to my grumpy guy and very informative. Harry Potter and I highly recommend them!

Positive experience: Coastal is very clean and felt Mia was in safe hands. I was able to see her from a video cam and it was fantastic!! But I was disappointed I had to wait two extra full days to pick her up due to they were closed. I feel you should be able to pick up your animal any time!

Fantastic experience: They walk the walk! So kind during the difficult time of losing my super senior kitty then my senior kitty was dx’d with lymphoma. They were the breath of sunshine I needed. I’m handicapped and they would bring my kitties to the car. I truly can’t say enough wonderful things about them.

Fantastic experience: Feb 17th. Our basset Hank had a growth on his neck. As always coastal surgical team came together and did a wonderful job. Hank is now in recovery bandages have been removed scar is pink and healthy. We take him back in a week for stitches to be removed. Oct 4 - We had a new vet today Dr. Hansen who was absolutely loved by our bassets. I admit was nervous new vet and all but she really is wonderful with both our boys. Dr Avery was our old vet before she moved on but Dr Hansen didn't miss a beat and I am more then confident we do not have to worry about finding a new vet. Highly recommend

Fantastic experience: Dr. Wilson and the staff were so kind and helpful with my poor Gabe’s incident choking on a milkbine chew bone. They were able to get him feeling better very quickly and soothed and calmed my nerves with education and their compassion as well. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Everyone there, including the veterinarians, techs, office staff, boarding staff, etc. are all so kind! They really care about the animals they treat, and also care about the owners. I always get a follow up call a few days after a visit, to see how things are going. And I never have to wait too long to get an appointment. If it's an urgent issue, they get you in as soon as possible. They took care of one of my cats for several years when he had a chronic condition, and supported me when it was time to say goodbye. That was done with respect and compassion. And then a few days later I received a sympathy card, signed by all the staff, with each one saying something they remembered about my pet. I've seen each of the doctors there, and they are all so kind. It's a wonderful place!

Negative experience: Since Dr Avery has left, the doctors there are not the same. I got turn down for an urgency visit because they were fully booked. Not caring for a long time patient that has all her medical records.

Fantastic experience: I called them because my cat was matted and I couldn’t brush it out. Not only were they able to get me in next day, they were able to do her rabies and distemper because they had just expired . The groomer Denise did a fantastic job and my baby felt so secure ; she didn’t even need anesthesia. Will establish with them for my pet care from now on. Thank you coastal vet !

Fantastic experience: Even though I live on the other side of town I will always take the drive to board my dog here. They treat my dog so well, and the customer service from the boarding staff and the front desk ladies is always 10/10. Thank you guys for loving my baby Pops when he stays with you!

Fantastic experience: first time dog owner and was nervous about his first vet visit but everyone at coastal was so sweet and welcoming! we saw dr. alex and he said it was his first week there but you would never know, he was so great with my dog, answered every question I had and was extremely informative and helpful. definitely found my regular vet and can’t recommend them enough!

Fantastic experience: Coastal Vet is wonderful. A very caring staff. My beloved Bruno passed away recently and a few days after I told them, I received a condolences card in the mail. While that was nice enough in and of itself, every staff member wrote a heartfelt note on the card and included my Bruno's name. I was very moved that they took the time out of their very busy days to send me this sincere message.

Fantastic experience: Since Dr. Avery departed, we were matched with Dr. Wilson. I am so beyond impressed with her. I have a very difficult husky that was being considered for behavioral euthanasia. When making the appointment, the front staff cried on the phone with me and answered any and all questions I had. Dr. Wilson and her team were resilient, and found a medicine for my girl that has made her into a new dog. Her patience and empathy is unmatched. I recommend Coastal to everyone I meet. You will never take your animals to another vet again. Love you guys

Fantastic experience: Have used Coastal for over 20 years, and for a few different pets. Dr. Jacobs is my ‘go to vet’, and I hope he is there for the future. However, I do feel that their practice has many fine, caring vets, and vet techs.

Fantastic experience: I have been using Coastal since it opened. There is no other vet I would trust with my beloved pets. From new puppy visits to having to send them over the Rainbow Bridge - the care and compassion has been consistently outstanding. Every person i have come in contact with over the years has been so kind and friendly. You definitely feel like they treat your pets like they would their own!!

Fantastic experience: I started taking my pets here based on a friend who recommended them. The staff is always super accommodating and very informative. All the Vets are compassionate and very good about explaining things and answering questions. I'd say they're reasonably priced, but they're definitely not cheap. However, the quality of care and service is above and beyond, so I'm not going to stop going here simply because it costs a little more. Highly recommend!!!!

Fantastic experience: My boy, Tucker, was starting to display signs he was getting an ear infection. His long flowing ears are as cute as can be, but they make him prone to reoccurring ear problems. I was so grateful that Dr. Hanson and her staff agreed to see him quickly, the very next day. They treated him gently and professionally. He is definitely on the mend. Fantastic experience: We had a great experience at Costal Veterinary Hospital. All of the staff were super friendly and welcoming. We felt very comfortable & believe we received individualized care specific to our kitten. The vet we saw was very professional and looked out for our kittens best interests. She wasn’t just trying to get us to spend a ton of money on things we didn’t need. Will be making this our primary vet.

Fantastic experience: Dr Avery and her staff did a phenomenal job attending to my dog, Maggie, when we had to rush her in due to seizures. She kept us informed of everything that the dog was experiencing during the seizures and how to treat them if it happens again. She stayed with us during the entire process to ensure Maggie was comfortable and provided top notch service, and explained everything that we needed to know. Dr Avery’s calm persona was perfect for the condition that Maggie was in and definitely helped calm Maggie’s anxiety, and also helped calm my wife and I as well. Great service from Dr Avery and all of the staff that helped out. We couldn’t be happier! Many thanks!!

Fantastic experience: We have been taking our dog to Dr. Jacobs for 7 years and think he is excellent. He is gentle and very thorough when he examines her. He is clearly very knowledgeable and sometimes gives us recommendations and alternatives. On occasion, he has even said he wanted to do a little research about a possible problem and that he would call us......and, yes, as promised, he does call. Also, after a visit, his assistant, Ragga (spelling?) will sometimes call to make sure all is going well. The techs and the front desk staff have all been very pleasant as well as professional.

Negative experience: Good Morning, Last week I called to make an appointment for Daisy Mae annual checkup. I asked the cost, I even said I was having a hard time financially and the $400 was going to be hard, I asked if I could break up the appointment and do half one day and have on another pay day week. It was not easy to be transparent in not having the money for the appointment. Embarrassing actually. To make the whole thing worse, I had called earlier in the week to have her meds filled and received not one but two voicemails telling me because she has not had her annual appointment, she can't have her heart worm medication. So, I've communicated a hardship and expressed a desire to get her in, also her need for her monthly heartworm, we have been at this clinic since we got her at 12 weeks, and I'm just really shocked this is the response. What is of the most concern is that you would put her at risk for heartworm by not allowing a client to figure out how to get in and pay for the $400 appointment. Do you all even care about our pets? We will be moving Daisy Mae's care to a new Veterinary who understands life, families of pets, finances and most of all a Vet that would not deny refilling of heart worm to a customer that is clearly in the system and a part of the clinic clientele for years.

Fantastic experience: My family used to come here a while back but then tried a vet office closer to us for convenience. Ended up back here because they are always so wonderful and thorough. We see Dr. Avery and she is the absolute best. Always so sweet and really cares about my baby and I, as well as the staff who always call to check in. If you are looking for a vet that you feel you can really trust with your fur-babies, this is the place!

Fantastic experience: I just moved to the area and this vet was recommended to me. They have been nothing short of amazing! I took my dog who has stomach problems and they were so attentive and thorough and offered so much help it was impressive. They gave her a vaccine and a couple hours later a bump appeared, i called and they said they would get back to me and reassured me that it was fine. THEN the next day they called and checked to see how GiGi was doing to follow up. I’ve never had a Vet that personally calls to check in on you and your dog. Would recommend Coastal vet 100%!!!
