Services
Pet Pal Veterinary Clinic: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Friendly and reasonably priced. Sometimes takes a while, even with an appointment, but worth it
Fantastic experience: Pet pall is a good veterinary service they're always nice and reasonably priced. We go there very often.
Fantastic experience: Great staff see you guys real soon
Negative experience: I asked the technician working the front desk if the microchip service they use here requires a yearly payment. She wrongfully told me no. Now my cat has a microchip in her that requires me to pay $25 a year. I will forever waste $25 a year because their technician did not know what she was talking about.
Positive experience: I took my dog there used to be my daughters and the couldn't find her so I told them I never personally took her someone else always did and it turned in to a big fiasco and my dog did not get seen and The older lady at the front was not nice I tried talking to her and she didn't say anything
Fantastic experience: The staff are so amazing!!! They did so well with my boy Jackson, he's never behaved so well at the vet. Will definitely be his new vet!
Fantastic experience: Affordable and kind staff! Always a bit of a wait but well worth it for the cost and care. My favorite vet!
Fantastic experience: This veterinary clinic took amazing care of me and my cat! please do not be deterred by the recent reviews of this establishment!! they are very affordable and very helpful, I took my cat for a neuter in early november, prior to that we did vaccines, blood work, etc, which i had absolutely no issues with. time frames for all appts and surgery were fantastic, i was even able to pick him up early from surgery, healing process and incision site looked just fine and has healed just fine. also your $40 to book your appt goes towards what you are doing in that appt! i have never had any issues getting in contact, booking an appt, or asking any questions. Thank you guys for everything!!
Fantastic experience: This is a great place for your pets. We drive out from Largo, about 30 minutes. Definitely worth the drive!!
Negative experience: Took my 2 cats to get spayed and shots. the first time they allowed one of my cats to escape out of the room after being warned how they are. everyone there ignores the caution signs and stickers and warnings you give. even when it’s on the paper they are reading. had to make a separate appointment and pay to be able to go in the room with them while getting the shots because they do not inform you of that before hand. asked to do an ear cleaning and testing while under sedation , they only cleaned outer rim of ear, didn’t complete the testing like asked and my cats ears look just as they did when i brought them in. they do not listen to instructions, concerns, or caution that you give them for your animals. told them to take caution with my cats because they are scared of people and to sedate them while still in their crates to minimize stress and interaction only for them to come out looking like the doctors manhandled them and fought with them. did the absolute bare minimum for nail trimming. only clipped the very end of the nail instead of going as short as needed to go. didn’t offer or prescribe pain medication for after spays. did not tattoo the cats stating that they have been spayed. gives out incorrect information regarding the healing process for your animals. incision site looks extremely unprofessional, very rushed and, slightly infected. looked that way as soon as i picked them up at the scheduled pick up time. they also nicked the top of 4 nipples on each cat making them scab and bleed.
Negative experience: Won't be back. The staff lacks empathy and professionalism. I've seen 2 different vets here, thinking it was just a one off on the first visit. They're not even kind to the animals, much less the owners.
Fantastic experience: Great Doctors, Fantastic Prices with Quality Care of Your Fur babies Editing my review: For all of these negative reviews. This is not an emergency clinic, or a place for you to trauma dump! This is a low cost clinic with superb quality care. The Technician's and the Doctors are All fantastic!
Negative experience: Fine for basic vaccines and flea/heartworm. I encountered some excellent staff, but the veterinarian on duty today fell short. It cost me $40 to realize I’ll be seeking care elsewhere.
Negative experience: Didn’t appreciate the way the whole appointment was handled. The nurse didn't have confidence in taking care of what needed to be done and the way the doctor approached all of it was stern and unwelcoming. I understand things can be stressful in an environment like that but I hope they do better at communicating with people.
Fantastic experience: Great affordable clinic with friendly helpful staff . I’ve been going since the pandemic as they were one of the only places open around that time. Service is prompt and sometimes even without an appointment you can get in and out pretty quickly.
Negative experience: As a pitbull advocate and animal lover this place broke my heart. I paid for my loved one to receive treatment and was met with racism. My dog was treated poorly and misdiagnosed. I paid for treatment and x-rays for him to die short while later. Upon examination at another vet I discovered my loved one was dying slowly internally from lack of treatment. Second Vet said this would have been easily noticed on previous x-rays. He died a slow painful death because of this place lack of service and prejudice against minorities and also pitbulls. Don't waste your money if you love your animal. You will receive lack lustered service!
Positive experience: Overall experience is a 5 stars, but when I made my initial appointment I was told a certain date and when I showed up they said it was for the same date but a month out. Playing attention to detail when giving people an appointment date is important.
Negative experience: My dog is a current patient, and I’ve now called 7+ times (left vms) and filled out the online form requesting an appointment with no callbacks. Originally needed an appointment for an annual check up, now I can’t even get my dog in for a possible ear infection. While the prices are great, go somewhere else because you will not be able to get a hold of this vet office.
Fantastic experience: We were in and out in no time. They were super helpful and gave us a lot of good steps and information to follow for this new kitten we found under our front steps a week ago
Negative experience: I waited +24 hours before making this review to see if I was still as upset as when it happened... Initially, I made several calls (and left vms) to get my dog spayed, and not one call back. I drove across town and walked in to set up my appt. During our appt we talked about pain management after the procedure and mild sedation because our girl is very active. It was all notated and I was given a quote. The day of the surgery I was told to expect a call around 9a or 10a for an update. No call came. I called that office FIVE times (and left my phone number via vm). No call back. I waited anxiously all day by my phone, and had to wait until I got off of work (330p) to find out what the issue was. The entire time I was thinking the worst case scenario (she passed) and that no one wanted to call me to tell me. When I picked her up the Dr refused to give me anything besides carprofen (ibuprofen- once a day for 4 days?). I confirmed with the desk that pain management was in my file because I verified it on my printed quote... And when I mentioned that that was not what we discussed in the pre -op appt, the Dr told me at pickup .... "it's cruel to sedate your dog for 10 days. I refuse to do it". I was a bit taken back by the judgement, and disregard of my concerns.... I told him I wish I would have had appropriate expectations set from the beginning during that initial appt, so I could have made a better informed choice on where to seek care from. He advised me a "fill in" Dr took my appt. I feel like the "fill in" Dr would have provided better quality of care than he did. And to his judgemental comment, I'd like to say, "isn't it cruel to not treat pain after a pretty serious surgery like a hysterectomy?" No where did I ever ask anyone to dope my dog out of her senses for 10 days straight, but dear lord- a mild sedative and something for the pain for a few days isn't a "cruel" request! Do better. ** I also noticed you comment a generic "contact Scott Daly for more details"..... But I'm not seeing much change on the reviews with the same concerns.
Fantastic experience: They are currently help me spay and neuter a lot of kittens i got stuck with just trying to help a few strays they're a god send
Positive experience: I just want to preface this by saying my dog has been a patient here since he was a puppy and everyone is friendly and polite when I am there. The service in person is great; however, communication is not all that good. Everytime I call to make an appointment it is such a hassle. I have to call several times for many days to finally reach someone. This past week I have called several times and left at least two voicemails and no one has called me back. When I finally reached someone on a Saturday (granted, I know Saturdays are busy), I was put on hold and then disconnected not long after. I am not sure if that was a mistake or on purpose ? This is super frustrating. I understand it is busy but please do better about answering the phones and/or responding to voicemails.
Fantastic experience: It was my first time taking my puppy to the vet and the staff was so nice, reassuring, and answered all questions I had! I highly recommend this vet to all pet owners!
Fantastic experience: I recently took my Chorkie here for a pre operation checkup , nail trim, and cyto point shot . The staff was friendly, helpfu,l and very patient when I had an abundance of questions regarding her upcoming Spay procedure. So far this is the most affordable veterinary clinic I have ever taken my Fur -baby to I have found my new Veterinary Clinic ! I highly recommend them !
Negative experience: I adopted my dog about two months ago from the SPCA. Other than one repeat vaccine she was up to date on everything. I came in to establish care about a month ago and had a stand in vet. It took over an hour waiting to be seen. During the appointment, the vet mentioned the special on nexguard. I had an additional dose and mentioned I would call back to purchase some once it ran out. I called today because I bought some on Chewy and just needed the prescription. I was told that because it was a stand in vet I would have to book another visit, get/pay for another heart worm test (Eventhough she had one in August) before I could get a prescription. The office staff were not the friendliest and really didn’t care about me explaining how I was just there and they offered me the treatment. Due to wait times, professionalism and price gouging I will never return. Go somewhere else. Yes, the 40$ visit in this economy is nice but it’s a waste of time and loads of frustration for them to do the right thing.
Negative experience: They hurt my cat then blamed me. Never using them again.
Fantastic experience: They were helpful, bring my remind me 5 pound antonian shepherd. That I couldn't handle since he's bigger than me. And never judged me about it. I love that all they wanted to do was get his surgery done
Fantastic experience: Extremely affordable, friendly staff, and great doctors! Dr. Bayon-Reyes is always great with my old, grumpy, former street cat, Horatio.
Fantastic experience: Most affordable spot for care! Have been going here for years. Recently moved and got a new vet, they quoted me $500 for fixing my new puppy. Petpal said they would do it for $150!!! And got an appointment the following week for it. Love you guys!!
Fantastic experience: First time here and it was a great experience! Very friendly and competent staff, I would recommend Pet Pal Vet Clinic to others.
Negative experience: Stopped at the clinic today to pick up my mom’s heartworm meds for her dog and witnessed something very disturbing…there was an older man there who seemed confused, like he possibly had dementia or Alzheimer’s but he was upset because he didn’t understand something on his receipt. A few minutes later, a woman in all black came rushing up front yelling and demeaning this poor guy. Let me tell you, she acted way out of line! In the past 8 years that we’ve been going there we have never seen an employee treat a customer like that! I don’t know who this new woman is, but she needs to go if that’s how she’s going to treat customers!
Negative experience: Horrible. The staff have no clue how to work with big dogs My daughter took her german shepherd there this am. That could not have been the Veterinary doctor im hoping That was helping her.
Negative experience: If there was a zero I would give them a zero. My dog has allergies and horrible skin issues. They didn’t do anything to help her
Fantastic experience: I have been coming here for years and can say I absolutely love this shelter veterinary clinic. I got my dog from the shelter and take her here even though I live far Dr. Smith is an amazing surgeon. He has done multiple procedures on my Dog and handled her with care as she is an older dog. Their staff is very friendly and doesn’t make me feel bad for calling and asking lots of questions.
Fantastic experience: Amazing experience at the Vet clinic! The staff were all incredibly kind and truly knew how to take care of my dog. Oh, and the prices were so cheap! Will be recommending to anyone in the St Pete area
Positive experience: Very friendly staff. Have to put 3 stars because I called in to schedule an appointment for worms and feline overall health. I was told the earliest we can make an appointment is next week, which I was okay with. But then I was told the services I want are walk-in only anyway. I didn’t need to go today over next week, I could’ve waited. I got vaccines which is great but now I have to find another free day to get him checked for worms. They give me my cat back without any worm testing which was the whole reason for me coming in. Everybody makes mistakes especially in communication. But I was also there for 2 1/2 hours. Kind of ridiculous being I was the second person in line. If communication on inquiries, and communication inside were better, this would be a 5 star. Sorry if I just had a bad experience! If you aren’t rich this is the best option for you. But be sure to ask every detail and question you have about every single procedure or test you want. bc the staff don’t actually know what can be done for a walk-in. I got like 5 other tests done under feline package but didn’t get what I needed most. Communicate Effectively , 5 stars
Negative experience: I have been trying to get my animal spayed by them for about three weeks now. They have ignored my calls for two weeks after saying I’d hear back from them shortly. They are incredibly unprofessional and I’m so glad I found this out before I let them put my puppy under anesthesia and spay her. I would never trust them to operate on any of my animals. Go to Gateway Animal Hospital instead.
Fantastic experience: The staff are very friendly knowledgeable and understanding. They took very good care of my two Chihuahuas.
Fantastic experience: My first time going to Petpal vet. We just got a kitten. I love Petpal and try to support them when I can. The place was clean. All the people that work there are fantastic. I enjoyed talking to everyone from front desk, vet tech, to vet doctor. Super easy set up to come back for follow up shots. It was a very pleasant experience. I highly recommend.
Negative experience: Ridiculous if u have no options then go here. They make u come in for a 40 dollar heartworm test if u don't keep your dog on the flee meds consistently.... that is so stupid... if u get a physical it should last for a year... another thing .. when they did my dogs surgery they didn't cut my dogs nails like they where asked and it was noted... then told me I needed to schedule a special appointment that I would have to pay extra bs just to get them to do the job they where paid for. Absolute trash!
Fantastic experience: Very friendly vet and staff, took my puppy for heartworm prevention, and my 8 year old white cat for a check-up. Very happy and would highly recommend. They also have a rescue, which is no kill, and they are affordable and non profit, they run vaccine clinics too. It's just an all-around great place.
Fantastic experience: Definitely budget friendly & the staff is great as well so happy they are adding surgeries to their services
Thank you for your support, Carlisa!
Negative experience: Dr refused to save a life and do his job after the staff took my deposit and told me they would do the surgery. Pathetic excuse of a Dr, and the sniveling staff in the background really showing true colors of humanity. Be aware.
Negative experience: The staff kept trying to gave my dog treats, I said my dog does eat treats, but she kept trying to he felt he had to eat it right after throwing up on floor, n she seemed pissed about it. Than I pay to register My dog's license and they don't do it. I called and said that I was contacted because his license wasn't renewed. They said they would take care of it. And yet today, my dog gets out of the yard, and someone tries to get ahold of us through his tag, and they say is expired. Now they don't want to answer their phone or respond to me.
Negative experience: We brought our pup for her cherry eye. Our pet insurance denied the coverage because the notes the vet wrote was ambiguous and didnt include the date. We called to ask them to clarify, the office manager was so incredibly nasty! They refused to do anything about it and was indlcredibly rude. I absolutely hate this place, wont give them a dime!
Fantastic experience: Always a great experience here. Dr. B did the most thorough orthopedic exam on my German Shepherd. She was also willing to discuss concerns about my Bernese without being rushed. I left feeling educated and reassured. The front desk staff is always so friendly and helpful.
Negative experience: Tried getting my dog vaccinated. They took her back there for 30 seconds and determined they didn’t have the expertise or patience to do their job so they sent her back to the lobby saying they couldn’t perform their job.
Fantastic experience: Great service and great pricing! Last year we got our dog fixed and they did an excellent job. Previously we had spent 600 dollars at another clinic to have our male cat neutered which is outrageous and was not even close to what we paid for our dog. Today I utilized their walk in service as our cats needed their rabies shots updated. I was impressed with how efficient the experience was and the pricing was extremely affordable. The staff were very friendly and I felt comfortable with them taking care of our babies . We will not go anywhere else.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely Wonderful staff! From front desk to the Vet. Everyone is kind and professional
Fantastic experience: Petpal was able to get me and my baby in very quickly for appointment. Staff extremely friendly helpful. Do was knowledgeable and caring towards my fur baby!
Negative experience: Go elsewhere. Frustrated with service regarding meds, follow-up. Was provided an insufficient amount of meds following neutering procedure (had to go elsewhere). Very challenging getting questions answered after care...need was immediate, but dr wouldnt be available for another 4 days. Went to google for the answers!
Negative experience: Wish I could give 0 stars for the terrible customer service. I was out on held for +20 minutes and when I call for another number they picked up the phone ( before that they were rejecting the call) . The staff was completely rude and unprofessional. The service provide to the dog was ok but regarding to the support or customer service does not worth the couple dollars that you can save. When I hang up I called Notheast animal hospital and was able to get the appt done in 8 minutes ( will pay extra $87 dollars for the service but definitely worth it ) Never will be back
Fantastic experience: We went for a walk-in to get a vaccine and some medicine. The woman working the desk was very friendly and helpful. We waited about 15-20 minutes, and for a walk-in, I thought that was really fast. They did the vaccine in less than 5 minutes and we were done. The prices are very affordable. Overall everyone there was excellent and the service was good.
Negative experience: I have called this place endlessly for hours their stupid answering machine is confusing and absolutely NO ONE WILL PICK UP THE PHONE I will never try this Vet ever again. If you actually want your phone call answered don't call this bs place
Fantastic experience: You are angels!!! Bobby didn't even need his cone after the second day. He's a happy puppy! Thank you so very much! Jeff Jeff Morris St. Pete, FL
Fantastic experience: Amazing staff and doctors. Prices are unbeatable. Please donate here if you can because what they do here is incredible. The staff though, don't give them a hard time.
Fantastic experience: I must share How truly sweet comforting and truly caring this whole staff has been to me and my beloved kitty Honeybear I have a story about my honeybear he was rescued up north while I was going through cancer treatments and a true comfort for those very difficult emotional days. I had to leave him with family because of my treatments He was going to get neutered the day covid shutdown all facilities I had to leave him with my family which later my brother also fought hodgkins lymphoma disease affecting his brain and He recently passed from brain cancer So my beloved kitty has been going family member to family member Finally coming back to me but needing to be neutered. Because he is now 5yrs old testing had to be done to make it will be safe for him It was such an emotional day even in the midst of the flooding memories of my own health and family's health These wonderful caretakers at Oet pal listened and showed compassion from the front desk to the veterinarian to his assistant And fellow pet owners sitting in lobby sharing their stories of life care for saving kitties or doggies from homelessness It was a very special family feeling I left with even though It was our first visit Today was our initial meeting for exams and blood work which I was given estimate of the further care if choosing to complete the neutering and assured they would call me ASAP for blood work results My kitty snuggled up to the veterinarian assistant and truly seemed to become relaxed even after rabies shot and blood work We now await to see if all will be well to proceed with his neuter for the sake of calming his stress of hormones that are working over time because we have recently had stray cats throughout our neighborhood jumping up in windows wanting to be fed This led to my kitty being upset crying and spraying out the windows Hoping for calmer healing days ahead Definitely this pet care clinic has been so supportive for me as the owner and for my beloved friend Honeybear Blessings upon the staff and fellow owners of their family pets. Thank you Pet pal
Negative experience: Absolutely Disgusted. “Fired me” after I had to put my cat of 20 years down. They wouldn’t give my cat the pain shot that they’d already given him a month earlier so I got to listen to him cry for 24 hours before I had to put him down. Then they send me this.
Fantastic experience: The staff and the veterinarian were all very helpful, efficient, thorough, patient and kind. I was a vet tech for almost two decades before switching careers and I really appreciate everything the folks at Pet Pal do. I’d always heard good things about them, but this was my first time there and all the compliments are well deserved.
Fantastic experience: Excellent experiences I had appointment took us right back everyone one here is awesome and will refer anyone. Thank you for caring for my fur baby
Fantastic experience: I walked in at the walk in time of 1pm. My puppy was seen promptly and got her second round of vaccines in less then 10 minutes after I completed the paperwork. The front desk was delightful. The tech seemed knowledgeable.
Fantastic experience: Quality veterinary care at an affordable price. We are very happy with the way our puppy and kitties are treated. Cherry on the cake: everybody is always super nice!
Fantastic experience: We drive about 40 minutes just to go to Pet Pal Veterinary Clinic. The are so friendly, polite, professional and caring. Plus proceeds go to Pet Pal Animal Rescue. Tango sends his ❤️
Negative experience: This use to be my favorite place and I always recommended them to anyone who asked about a vet clinic with affordable prices and wonderful vets. Unfortunately that is not my opinion anymore The ladies upfront are always super nice and helpful. My rating has nothing to do with them, this is towards the male veterinarian who handles the dental at the clinic. I made an appointment to have my cats teeth and gums checked because she was in a great deal of pain. After barely looking at her for 5 minutes he said he detected a heart murmur and I would need to take her to a cardiologist to have echo done of her heart before he would put her under anesthesia. (This I understood completely) He was rude, rough with my cat, and seemed like he just wanted to get rid of me. I take her to a cardiologist, spend $900 for this test and am told she has a functional murmur that's caused from her dental issue and her being a nervous cat at the vets office and she can be treated as a normal cat nothing to worry about. I then make another appointment with pet pal and was told they would hold my spot, but he needed to review the paperwork from the cardiologist and they would call me in the morning. Never received a phone call, I called back myself and the lady I spoke with said everything was set and took my $40 deposit. I go in for my scheduled appointment today JUST to be sent away because he still hadn't even looked at the paperwork even though I made this appointment a WEEK PRIOR and now wants more tests and to review her entire history before scheduling ANOTHER appointment. I even had the paperwork with me that said she was okay to be put under anesthesia. He still refused to take her, wouldn't come out to speak with me or even attempt to look at the documents. At this point my cat has been in pain for over 2 weeks now and barely eating. Knowing this ahead of time I would have went somewhere else. Seems to me someone is either lazy or doesn't trust his own abilities which is scary, never bringing any of my animals there again. Personally I'll pay extra to someone who actually cares about animal and treats them and their humans more respectfully.
Fantastic experience: Caring and friendly staff. The staff have been very accommodating to the needs of our pets. Will continue to use their services for all of our dogs.
Thank you for trusting your pets’ care to us!
Negative experience: Worst vet clinic ever. The Director cares about people and their pets…. NOT AT All. Skip them go to Harmony or other clinics but not PetPal. Worst ever
Fantastic experience: Visiting from Canada and decided that our condo had far too many towels, dog bowls, etc. We always donate to the PET Pal Thrift store but felt that the veterinarian clinic could most likely use the towels and bowls. Good choice, they were very grateful
Fantastic experience: Dr. Reyes and staff are phenomenal! Very thorough exam & explained all treatment options available for our heartworm positive dog, Buddy. Answered all of our questions and explained all treatment costs/fees in advance.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful service, everyone was very friendly and affectionate with our kittens
Fantastic experience: Great staff. Thank you They always treat you and your pet so nicely
Negative experience: I chose this place because of their affordable services but now I wish I would have gone somewhere else. They charged me $40 for the vet to look at my dog for literally 5 secs then an additional $77 for blood work. At my other clinics I’ve spent $99 for a full year’s worth of shots exams and nail clipping for a full year. I was told on the phone the $40 was just to hold my spot and would be paid towards the blood work. Apparently the doc feels like he deserves to be paid $40 per 5 seconds which blows my mind. There are a few nice ladies in the office but I spoke to a man who was very rude to me and got me very worked up. There is definitely an attitude of arrogance and lack of respect that drifts in the air among some of their employees. When I got my dogs snipped they have you pay $15 for a cone. Instead of giving my dog a cone that is sized correctly they gave me an over large cone and blamed my dog for being the problem. I quickly realized this was untrue when I got home and found an extra cone for had from a roommates dog who had the surgery a few years back. If the doctor would have cared for my dog he would have come up with a better solution then sending me home with ineffective products. So long story short if you want a vet that makes you feel warm and fuzzy and like they care about your dog, don’t go here. 2 weeks after service and writing this review they sent me a letter in the mail declining to care for my pets any longer AS IF I WOULD EVER COME BACK. This is the most petty behavior from a company I have ever seen. If I were to consider coming back to this company they should be trying to make amends for my terrible experience not acting like petty children. My dogs wound was not even fully healed by the time they sent that letter. DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE.
Negative experience: If I could give a cero, I would. I don't know how others say that the service is excellent. My experience was horrible, fatal. Not to mention the poor customer service, the lack of tact and attention. How rude people are there. I have never been to a vet that was so cold and so ambiguous.
Fantastic experience: It was time to put my cat out of her misery. They were kind and Missy died peacefully in my arms. They are a nonprofit so they provide affordable pet care with licensed vets. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Jack and Dr B are amazing. We have a high strung cat and the handled her with ease and great care. 5 Stars. Wonderful friendly staff short wait time highly recommend
Negative experience: Started using this clinic because the agency I adopted our cat from did. The front office staff here is really sweet but most of the doctors make it apparent they have better places to be. When you’re looking for care for your animals you want people that care also and that’s just not what you’re going to get from this place! It’s the absolute bare minimum in pet care and I would suggest going elsewhere! A few examples, I fought with the office for months trying to get them to authorize a flea medicine prescription through auto ship on chewy, chewy contacted them multiple times with no response. Just today I showed up for my appt 6 min late due to traffic and they said I had to reschedule due to the doctor only giving a 5 min grace period when the lobby was completely empty!
Fantastic experience: My dog Polo Donatello had dental surgery at the end of July.. I was nervous because it was his first surgery in 9yrs. Dr Smith did an AWESOME job. Along with ALL the wonderful ladies that work there. I esp love Pet Pal because they are extremely affordable..
Negative experience: Took my dog here for a teeth cleaning and they removed a canine tooth. The site became infected. I called twice and asked to be seen by the vet. They said they'd call back. They didn't. So I had to take my dog to an emergency vet to get more antibiotics because it was serious. They recommended further surgery and more teeth to be removed due to the site infection. Now I'm looking at a $1500 bill to remove more teeth and clear out the infection with another vet. I was not informed this surgery could cause issues with surrounding teeth due to it being a canine tooth. I was not told after the surgery that they had any complications removing the tooth. I received no follow-up call to check on my on pup once I got him home. ETA: The Veterinarian, Dr Bayon-Reyes, called me to apologize after I posted this review. The management said they will refund the money I paid for the cleaning and tooth removal. It doesn't fix my situation since I'm facing a huge bill to get my pup back to health and he is losing a lot more teeth, but at least it shows an effort on their part to rectify the situation. They did ask me to remove my review. Instead I added a star but will leave this here for your information. If a teeth cleaning may result in removing teeth, please take your pup some place where they can x-ray, especially if it's a canine tooth. I do heavily support pet rescues and was bringing my dogs here because I wanted to support their efforts to support animals. So this event and posting this review has been deeply disappointing for me.
Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would! Called around for a neuter of my Dane and they were recommended. Called them and they stated need to go down there (40 minute drive) to get measured in case he didn’t fit. Made a loose appointment with the lady and arrived as agreed upon. They took him straight back and came back stating he barely fits but he fits. They then asked if we wanted ablation for the loose skin and stated we needed to make an appointment for that. Send his vet records but wait until the day of appointment. That day was today. We arrived 15 min prior to appointment. I mistakenly thought I had an electronic copy of his most recent records and after telling them I didn’t I was told he was going to need a rabies to which I agreed. I had a knock on my car window stating it was only a 15 min appointment and basically clock was ticking while I was looking. She could see I had my documents pulled up hunting it. On the previous measure day we discussed him needing no other animals around because he randomly lunges and they were okay with that. Today it seemed to be an issue and I was stressed out completely because of my lack of finding the records but I stayed cordial. In the mean time I’m being greeted with curt and rude comments and attitudes. I was also tired because I made sure to wear him out so he wouldn’t jump (he’s still 2 and in puppy phase) and injure anyone.(plus he injured me several days ago so holding him back was very painful) . Trying to respect the people- Yanno… They took him back stating they needed to measure him and suddenly he doesn’t fit! What an absolute waste of time and how are seven people witness to him fitting two weeks ago and suddenly now it’s an issue! We were back in truck by 13 after still having 2 min left in appointment. I had prepaid for this and his neuter appointment, expecting him to get good care but after voicing my distain I was cut off several times mid-sentence with someone stating “I wasn’t there two weeks ago”… sooo apparently I should have waited for the other, more professional team to be working??? Zero out of ten- would not recommend unless you enjoy wasting your time, money and gas.
Fantastic experience: we recently rescued a border collie mix and he wasn’t chipped (unlike what the rescue advertised him as). i called this morning to see if they had availability and they did - they got us back as soon as possible and were so kind. some lady came in with her puppy and was obviously on drugs, saying things and not restraining her dog. the ladies at the front desk were more than apologetic even though it wasn’t their fault. i will definitely be back again, thank you guys for being so amazing!
Negative experience: We were very disappointed with the way the staff was handling our fur baby. So, much so that my Husband became belligerent to the point that we were asked to leave. Although, the prices are more affordable...we refused to sacrifice quality care for our pet in the interest of saving money. We will not be returning to this facility.
Fantastic experience: Love them . They took amazing care of my cat. And they are very affordable and friendly. Definitely recommended that you bring your pets here
Negative experience: Normally I receive normal to good service when I visit here. I have 3 dogs… I went in there to get a flea pill my babies. The young lady at the front desk was willing to assist me even though they were closed for lunch due to that was my only availability to go there. The rude, aggravated heffa that sits at the desk in the back had an attitude and didn’t want the young lady to help me. She was talking to me like I was a child and lucky for her I DID NOT have the time to get her together due to I had to return home so I can work. I will say that politeness goes a LONG way and trust and believe I’m returning but when I do I cannot wait to see her!! If you did not want to be at work just stay home along with your attitude!! Other than that the staff is good!!
Fantastic experience: Staff at Pet Pal in St. Petersburg is very friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. We've always had a good experience there. I am especially pleased with the newer staff at the front desk-very warm and welcoming.
Thank you so much, Kerry. We are glad to help.
Negative experience: I was devastated to pick up my kitty after neutering surgery and find they had been left in a carrier that was soaked in pee. When I lifted it from the seat, the seat was wet. My car seat got soaked with pee. When I got home, I was sick to my stomach to find my baby was soaked in pee like he was sitting in a bath. The front desk was great as was the pricing. But how could you let a post op just sit in pee for who know how long?
Positive experience: Staff was super friendly and great with my gentle giant. We did experience an issue with some printed instructions not being accurate, but the owner was very attentive to the issue and made us feel as though this was an error that has been easily resolved since being brought to their attention. Hoping to update to a 5 star review once we attend our next appointment.
Fantastic experience: Very quick and nice people. We were walk ins. Took care of my dog. Right away and seemed like the other people there really liked this place as well. We went for shots and flea medication. It was pretty affordable too. Recommend!
Fantastic experience: Big thank you to Samantha. I appreciate you taking the extra time to explain the costs and save me some money. You and Lynell (m/s) have great energy and are perfect for the animal care environment. Thank you for everything that you do.
Positive experience: EDIT REVIEW I really want to take the time to appreciate the veterinarians. Also Scott for reaching out to me and handling a specific situation very well. I will be returning to use your services again. Also great pricing!
Fantastic experience: Went there for shots for our puppy, was in and out 20 mins. On a previous visit we brought our pom male dog to get nuttered, shortly after dropping him off they called and asked if I wanted them to take out his baby tooth as it wasn't coming out like normal. Thanks for the catch. And will be bring all our poms to them for thier needs. Thanks all great place
Thank you, Ben, for trusting us with your pets’ health. We appreciate the review!!
Fantastic experience: Always very polite and attentive. Takes excellent care of my cats and the price. You just cannot beat it. They honestly care about your animals And the fact that they don't kill you on the prices. Really goes to show how much they care and love animals and not at all about the money
Negative experience: My cat has been an established patient for two years at Pet Pal. Skip to the last paragraph if you don't want to read everything. I recently had to go to Orlando for an FHO surgery for my cat due to significant cost savings (everyone in this area was double the price). I was told that he would need to have his sutures removed in two weeks. Explaining I live in St Pete, they recommended I contact my primary vet and they should be able to remove them no problem. For reference, my total drive time was 6 hours there and back with the crazy traffic on I-4. So trying to save myself the grueling drive for a 10 minute suture removal appointment, I contacted Pet Pal. They essentially refused to accommodate a suture removal because they did not perform the surgery themselves (a surgery they do not offer). They were explaining how he needs post op care and I would need to bring him back to where the surgery was performed. While I do understand where they are coming from, I only needed the sutures to be removed and didn't ask for any other service. I was told if I didn't want to bring him back to Orlando, I can try to contact other vets in the area for the removal. The problem is he isn't established at another vet office. So after several calls, I was finally able to find an office willing to remove the sutures. Pet Pal has proven to be an unreliable vet office. Going forward, I would only recommend them for vaccines since they are lower cost compared to other places in the area. As for general vet visits and other medical needs, I wouldn't recommend them. Save yourself the headache and establish your animals with an office that will actually accommodate your needs outside of a generic yearly checkup.
Positive experience: Lady Provider was excellent and handled my dog with care very sweet. Phone etiquette of staff wasn’t as nice, but I know it wasn’t the young African American lady who was at the front desk when I was there, she was great. Vet techs were pretty decent and worked with me on a plan that fit my budget at the time. At front when I was confirming what was procedures were done on my dog and said I was a little confused and needed the lady to explain, which she did a male veterinarian kept coming up to the front watching me as if I was going to start a problem, which I didn’t we left but I felt like a person being watched at a store to see if I would steal, kind of felt kind of racial profiling-ish. None the less my dog had an okay visit.
Negative experience: Update- Had a dental go badly for my senior dog. They couldn't get him in for urgent care on several occasions and I was at the mercy of emergency vets because no one else could work him in as he was not established with another clinic. What used to be a good thing has turned into a very bad recipe for health care for my furry family members. They mean well, but they are unable to manage their office and their current patient needs. --- Excellent care at reasonable cost. Wonderful staff, from the receptionist to the vets.
Fantastic experience: I’ll be back this Monday I think this is my fifth or sixth time that I’m there I just love these guys low cost and they understand we’re all on a budget and they understand my needs and yes my baby Rocky adores them!!!!!
Fantastic experience: Excellent and affordable immunizations for my rescue pup. The immunization clinic is walk in and even on a Saturday, it was a fairly short wait. The staff and vet techs are helpful and friendly. The shots are very affordable. Highly recommend!
Negative experience: I had an appointment for my dogs annual visit a month ago and was told he needed to come back in about 2 months for his other vaccines. After calling to confirm the day before I planned to bring him back for those vaccines, I was denied him getting those vaccines due to him having his heart murmur that is already known and established by the clinic. I was miscommunication with and informed of false information that has lead to an inconvenience and very unhappy client. I appreciate them wanting to make sure my dog is safe, but why did I go in for his yearly when I am told he has to have another one only a month later to get the rest of his vaccines he was told to wait off on to get. I am not happy with this experience though all the others over the past 3 years have been great here, but I don’t like wasting my time and being inconvenienced as I was.
Negative experience: Editing my review since the last review I have attempted to contact this clinic 7 times. They never answer, ask you to leave a message but never return your call. Called in October, to reschedule our pups spay and neuter, no answer, no call back (they even have a deposit of $80) Called twice for my elderly dog to be seen because she was very sick and thought we may have to put her down. No answer, no call back. Called twice to inquire about our pups flea prevention. Again, no answer or call back. Seems as if our pets don't matter. Highly disappointed
Negative experience: I adopted my dog from Pet Pal approximately three years ago. They were familiar with her birth defects and the problems it would cause me / her. I was told that she was part of the pit bull rescue and they would assist with her medical. My dog has 4 different vets in the event one is not available. I'll tell you, in 3 years of adopting my girl, Pet Pal has NEVER been available to assist my girl. I have spent thousands of dollars in 3 years to take the best care possible of my very much loved pup. They say they are busy, because they are cheap. I would never be privy to that information. An appointment is NEVER available. What is the purpose of having a dedicated vet service when they clearly don't care.
Negative experience: As I read the reviews I see im not the only victim they told me she can pass at any moment. Piper was going there for three years when things turned for the worst. They sent me to beacon emergency might as well be the same place. They said piper needed a few test with in a week I got the text fro. Beacon. What do u know they came back w a even bigger list this one was over 2 grand after paying out over a grand w office visit. All that was left was her blood work.i set a follow up w pet pals when Beacon told me they faxed records to pet pal I called my self and they email them to me. It was less that a week she had there test. Now pet pal says we can do the test here and im like why was I sent to Beacon if u can do them here . Why did I ask questions oh boy. They came back saying they can't use the week old x-rays and I needed to purchase them again. They had a rude stand in dr for the day who was telling me I had no options but to get her more x-rays. After telling me its 160 to send her blood off results in two days they immediately came back on saying its her liver .All I ask was did the test show that he was pissed it didn't so I took her elsewhere to see that they falsified things. Said I was aggressive i was black lady forward take ur credit brochure and beat it I came for a blood test only I left with out help my dog was drained and on top of that they was so wrong in whats wrong 2500 later kiss anything bro I stand on what I say yall trash and a money pit. I'm so hurt by what I read about me defending my right to refuse test she just took
Fantastic experience: Christmas Day I found a lump ( not knowing what caused this) on my Shepards right hip. Pet Pal got my boy in the very next day and we were lucky to have him in for removal of the mass on the 27th of December after our consultation on the 26. The staff here are very friendly, and honestly accommodating. This is was not just to my super scared pup but also me who was scared to death and anxious it could be cancer. Dr. Smith did an amazing job and got all of the margins. Even though it was NOT cancer I’m so grateful to this clinic. My boy is now healing post op. I’m super protective as he had such an ugly background prior to being adopted I’m very protective. They are an excellent choice and they serve communities that otherwise may not be able to afford treatment. Thank you again. Kristie and Theo
