BluePearl Pet Hospital in Des Moines, IA is a 24-hour emergency vet and specialty animal hospital. Our 13,000 square foot hospital is the largest specialty veterinary center in Iowa and conveniently located just off of I-35/I-80 on Merle Hay Rd. It was formerly known as the Iowa Veterinary Referral Center. Our hospital features a CT scanner, three surgical suites, and six exam rooms. We offer ultrasound, chemotherapy soft tissue, orthopedic surgery, and more. Along with emergency and critical care services, we provide specialty veterinary care including internal medicine, neurology, and surgery.

Fantastic experience: Blue Pearl went above and beyond for our Xena! They understood our concern with Xena not being a happy camper with other 4 legged baby's, and sometimes us humans! They let us use a muzzle so we felt safe bringing her in. Got us in a room fairly quickly. A nurse came in and oh was she absolutely wonderful. They fixed up her paw and they trusted her enough to take the muzzle off and she was such a sweet girl! Blue pearl has been super amazing anytime we have had to go. Staff at the reception desk is amazing as well. Truely an amazing emergency vet! Granted pricing is alittle higher then id like but it was for emergency based situation.

Fantastic experience: Gunner was refered to Blue Pearl from our regular vet for Internal medicine. We had Dr. Elle Donnini and she was great. Explained our options and was very helpful answering questions. The staff we dealt with was very nice and friendly

Negative experience: Needed emergency care for my dog at 1am on a Saturday. Called ahead and told them what I thought the problem was, which would require emergent surgery. They failed to inform me that they didn't have a surgeon available. I was driving from over an hour away, and this was an additional 20 minutes further than the clinic I was referred to later that night for the surgery. It cost me 800 dollars plus, over an hour delay in the care of my dog, due to the omission of pertinent information. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 was because the Vet was competent.

Our intent was never to delay your dog’s treatment, but rather to ensure that surgery was truly necessary before proceeding. In emergency situations, our team must first assess each patient to confirm the diagnosis and determine the most appropriate course of action, which can sometimes include stabilization and referral if specialized surgical care is required.
That said, we understand how the additional drive time, unexpected costs, and perceived delay would be incredibly frustrating—especially when you were already traveling a long distance under urgent circumstances. Your feedback is important, and we are reviewing our after-hours communication protocols to ensure we provide clearer information about surgical availability so pet owners can make fully informed decisions before arriving.

Fantastic experience: This pet hospital has saved our dog’s life twice. I know it is pricey but they do offer payment plans. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The only negative to this location is the parking availability.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been here twice now and both times the staff has been kind and compassionate to our situation. The first time I got a plan, records sent to my vet and my dog recovered and is doing well today. Unfortunately this second time we made the hardest decision with our other dog and they were so kind and made what was already a nightmare, survivable. I live outside of DSM so it’s a pain to have to drive all the way in for emergency vet care (there are no local options), but the care we receive at Blue Pearl is worth it.

Positive experience: care was prompt and well executed. i appreciated speaking with the surgeon just before surgery and right after the surgery was completed. I was very surprised and disappointed that after spending 2 days in the hospital and having surgery that was very expensive there was no followup phone call after my dog was discharged. I expected a phone call to check on how she was recovering at home.

Fantastic experience: Came in for Urgent Care and was able to get quick-ish help and was able to make an agreement on pay due to not having much money. They were also able to comfort me and made I knew my dog was ok.

Fantastic experience: We took our Welsh corgi Archie to be examined due to an erupted lesion under his jaw they care received was exceptional. The veterinarian explained everything, and we did not feel rushed at all. Her instructions were clear and concise. If we ever have an emergency, we will definitely go there again. Fantastic experience: I can not thank the doctors and staff at Blue pearl enough. They were so quick to get my boy in and took great care of him all day. They informed me of his progress throughout the day and were so kind and helpful. They made a scary day a lot less scary. Although I hope I never have to go back, if I do I know that they are outstanding. And Rocco is doing well now ❤️

Negative experience: I do not normally write bad reviews unless I feel like the community needs to be aware of it. Monday evening we took our dog to Blue Pearl after being referred from her vet for what seemed to be an emergency. I will start off by saying the vet techs and front desk staff here are AMAZING. They are kind, patient, and compassionate about their jobs. I cannot say the same for Dr. Stafford. We arrived and were promptly helped by the vet techs and front desk staff. Our dog was taken back for assessment, and we truly felt she was safe in the hands of the vet tech that had her. We were then placed into a room in which Dr. Stafford came to see us not too long after we arrived. She did an exam on our dog and proceeded to tell us our dog was paralyzed. She was then going to call the neurologist to come in and do a neuro exam on her. This was after sedation medicine was already given. Dr. Stafford then came back in to tell us the neurologist agreed with her assessment, and our dog was paralyzed. She then proceeded to tell us our options-a 15k surgery with 30% recovery rate and 20% fatality or to put our dog down. After talking with my husband, we came to the decision to take our dog home and try to make her as comfortable as possible. When we told Dr. Stafford this, she sighed heavily and seemed to be extremely disappointed in our decision. She told us that she as a vet wouldn't ever even consider bringing this specific dog home after we already told her we felt comfortable and wanted to take her home with us. At that point, we were given the option of an MRI-an option that was not initially presented and all of a sudden was an option. She told us the cost, but also told us it likely wouldn't tell us anything definitive. She also then let us know of an emergency condition she thought our dog may have that may leave her having seizures and eventually the inability to breathe on her own which would be traumatic if taking her home. This was made seem like this was absolutely going to happen if we took her home. After research, this condition is actually quite rare, and even in her post visit note she stated how rare it was to occur. She left the room again after offering the MRI, and after discussing we decided to decline the imaging. The vet tech came back in to discuss what we decided and that we were being discharged. Dr. Stafford came back in to discuss the treatment plan after speaking with the neurologist again and that this was a "hail mary"-an option we never were presented with to begin with until we asked. We didn't see Dr. Stafford again until we were discharged in the waiting room in which the only thing she had to tell me was if our dog was to be euthanized to have her checked for rabies because she had bitten us from being in so much pain. I'm not even 100% positive that the neurologist actually looked at our dog and did a neuro exam herself. We never once saw or spoke to the neurologist that supposedly was in the building and did an exam on our dog. If this condition was so life threatening and traumatic, I would expect the specialist of this condition would be able to come in for a five-minute conversation with us. Flash forward three days-our dog is pain free with strict rest, at home care and medication. She is making improvements every single day. I cannot even fathom how devastated I would have been had we listened to Dr. Stafford's recommendation to put her down. All that being said, I will be taking my dog or any other future pets to Iowa State if emergency/specialty care is needed, and I would recommend the same to anyone. The other vets may be amazing from other reviews I have read, but I can say without a doubt I would never recommend Dr. Stafford to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Blue Pearl in Des Moines. My cat needed imaging and a fine-needle aspirate which were done on the same day. Dr. Donnini was very communicative, thorough and I feel that she was conscientious of costs: Blue Pearl is specialty/emergency clinic, it's never going to be "cheap", but my final bill was less than what I had anticipated and Care Credit is accepted here, which greatly helps. My cat recovered nicely and didn't display any concerning behaviors - I can tell he was treated with dignity and care.

Our cat’s issue turned out to be something that was very quick and easy to solve. They took amazing, compassionate care of him and were so kind to my husband and I. Positive experience: Overall positive, got in right away and vet and staff were good and helpful. It did take them 90 mins to discharge after I met with the vet which wasn’t great. Need to improve that side of it.

Negative experience: Okay. This place is kind of expensive but my dog was dying with Congestive Heart Failure and I went to Blue Pearl. They stabilized him and tried to figure out everything about him and anything that might affect his condition. Expensive…yes. Are they sort of like a puppy dog Mayo Clinic??? YES!!!! He has relapsed and I had to let him go

Negative experience: Took my newly adopted cat in for vomiting, dry heaving, and low appetite. They charged $215 just to take vitals and then immediately pushed for a $500–$800 X-ray claiming it might be that she swallowed a foreign object. Turns out it was a basic parasite from the shelter, diagnosed by another vet without unnecessary tests. This place operates as a total cash grab. Zero transparency, all fear tactics for new pet owners, and they know it too. Do better. Hopefully this post makes some poor bastard think twice before handing over a rent payment for a cat that just needs a dewormer.

Fantastic experience: Having an emergency with a pet is never easy but I am very happy we brought him in. Dr. Pruitt and all the staff were understanding and showed compassion our entire visit. We never felt rushed or forced into anything. They helped us come up with the best plan moving forward. Fantastic experience: We are so, so lucky to have this animal hospital. The staff are a great balance of professional, friendly, and honest. They are extremely transparent about pricing, which can be big for families these days. Likewise, it's important to acknowledge how highly trained and thorough this medical staff is. These people are clearly highly dedicated and extremely competent. I can't say enough about how impressed my wife and I were (as we are a family who work in human healthcare). Our dog, Bindi, had been struggling for months with bleeding ulcers and hypoxemia. When we'd done all that we could with treatment at our local vet, they referred us to Blue Pearl. Dr. Adams and staff were excellent and Bindi is now well on her way to feeling better. Thank you!

Negative experience: They killed my dog. THEY KILLED MY DOG! Read this and read it again and again and THINK twice before going there EVER. Heartless. No compassion. No care in the ever loving world. My best friend left me tonight and there was absolutely no reason under any circumstance he should not be here right now. Then to top it off they ask for thousands of dollars while the team openly admits they charge too much and say how much they hate it. I absolutely regret taking my best buddy there. He deserved better.

Fantastic experience: I have been to blue pearl twice now: once it was because my cat had a catastrophic health tragedy that required he be euthanized, the second time my dog began vomiting blood while we were out of town and my sitter took him there. In both cases, one situation with a very sad ending and the other with a very happy resolution, the vets and staff at blue pearl were professional, empathetic, and very clear and honest about what was happening. They were clear about costs, they were clear about pain, they were clear about medical options. And they were kind to my dog. The environment is as calm and supportive as imaginable for an ER-type pet hospital where crisis is near constant. I always felt my beloved pets were in good hands. I especially appreciated the frequent, meaningful updates on my dog’s condition, and even them texting a photo when he was starting to feel better. Was it expensive? Yes, but not more than was reasonable for what they did, they certainly didn’t over-charge the way human doctors sometimes do, and they were helpful with finding 0% financing through care credit to make the expense manageable. They also understood the importance of getting doggie home in familiar surroundings to help him better recover. I would absolutely trust them again in a crisis, although I hope no more crises are coming my way anytime soon. They have good hearts and sharp minds. And if it isn’t going to end well, they are supportive and gentle. I recommend.

Fantastic experience: Sick animals are never a great experience, but I’m really thankful for the staff here at BluePearl. I just moved to the area, and don’t have primary veterinary care established yet. I had a cat start acting out of character, gave them a call to ask if it was means to bring him in, and without hesitation they said yes. I’m so thankful I made that call. I’m so thankful the woman on the other end of the phone didn’t hesitate (I wish I caught her name- but younger woman with long dark red hair- thank you thank you thank you.) I’m so thankful for the care and kindness this staff had for me and my baby. Definitely a really good feeling knowing that good emergency care is close by being new to the area! I haven’t been without my fur baby since the day I got him. A few days in the hospital without him was probably tougher on me than it was on him, but I felt comfort knowing he was in the best hands possible, and looked forward to every update. They sent me text updates in the middle of the night, called early every morning, every afternoon, and evening. They also sent me pictures of him daily. The 24/7 care is unmatched in my opinion. The education and communication amongst the staff is top tier! Would definitely recommend

Fantastic experience: Everyone was very nice and caring. Even though they couldn't find the reason for my cat's sudden ataxia, I was confident they tried their best and ruled out everything they could. Fortunately, the issue resolved after lots of rest and hopefully doesn't happen again. But, if it does, I won't hesitate to return for emergency care.

Fantastic experience: Went for a surgery consult. Thinking I’d need updated X-rays, the vet was clear he didn’t-so that was great to not have the add’l expense. The vet we saw was low pressure, but highly informative on options, and patiently answered all of my questions. This was a second (unrelated) visit, and they were great!

Negative experience: I took my 2 year old Baby boy here on Wednesday because he was jaundice and lethargic. I live an hour and a half away from this place and called them and said I only have $50 at the moment and the lady assured me that "His life is our priority and we will worry about the money later." Cute because after wasting a tank of gas I get there and they say it's $6000 up front or they can put him down. Nothing but a bunch of soulless robots. I brought him home and have a vet appointment today, whom by the way, already told me the price would be about $700 for EVERYTHING, AND THEY WILL JUST BILL ME!!! Blue pearl is a joke. Edit: Took my boy to the regular vet and everything plus his meds was a total of about $300. So if you're thinking about emptying your wallet here, don't.

Negative experience: Took my dog in to TRY to be seen last night only to have to leave after not being seen or even talked to about what is going with her after an hour and a half. The waiting room was full, we took our seat and waited our turn. But when 4/5 other people come in after you and get seen before you because they are acting panicked because their dog ate chocolate but is eating and drinking, and your dog hasn’t ate for 2 days or any water she drinks she throws up and is pooping blood you become frustrated. But not a single person asked what was going on with my dog. Now I’m sitting at another emergency vet waiting for surgery. Learn to triage better.
We are very sorry for the experience you described and understand how frightening and upsetting it is to wait for care when your pet is clearly unwell. We regret that you were not spoken with or provided updates during your time in our lobby, and we understand how that added to your frustration.
Emergency hospitals assess patients based on medical triage rather than order of arrival, and some cases—such as certain toxin exposures—may require immediate intervention even if a pet appears stable. However, we recognize that this process was not clearly communicated to you, and that you felt your concerns were not heard. That is not the experience we aim to provide.
Most importantly, we sincerely hope your dog’s surgery goes well and that she has a smooth recovery.
Negative experience: Short version, they nearly gave my cat a surgery he didnt need because they let AI read his x-rays. Long version, It was on Thanksgiving morning, and this location was the only one readily available that was close by when my cat began was suddenly unable to pee. I take him down to Bluepearl, and they did immediately take him in to put a catheter in him, and take some X-rays. After said X-rays later that day, they called me and said they saw kidney stones blocking him, and wanted to do a surgery that was nearly $2,000. But gave me the option to transfer him to another vet where they could do it cheaper. after calling my primary vet, they gave me a cheaper estimate and we were allowed to take him there. Yet when arriving there, the doctor took a look at the X-rays, asked 2 other doctors, and even contacted the bluepearl radiologist, and it was seemingly unanimously agreed among all of them that there were so signs of kidney stones, and ontop of that bluepearl didn't even give him any anti-inflammatorys or antibiotics. Yesterday (about a month after my initial visit to bluepearl) he had more bladder issues, so we took him back to my primary vet, where they told us that bluepearl initially let an AI read his X-rays according to Bluepearls own reporting, told to me by my primary vet. This AI's decision ended up being wrong, and despite apparently having a radiologist on staff, didn't pass the results along to them to get their opinion or double check the AI. Unless its life or death, id highly recommend avoiding this location of they are going to let AI make these kinds of calls instead of the hired doctors they have on staff. While I cant say if thier call for surgery was made off of incompetence or malicious intent, letting AI so fippantly make such an important decision is absolutely astounding, especially when this technology is still developing. I can't say if others have had the same experience i have, but I am quite upset about their service.

Urinary obstruction is a serious, potentially life-threatening condition, and we are glad your cat received immediate stabilization and that you were able to pursue continued care with your primary veterinarian.
At our hospital, diagnostic imaging and treatment recommendations are made by licensed veterinarians. While advanced diagnostic tools may be used to support image review, medical decisions are not made by artificial intelligence alone. We regret that our communication did not clearly explain how findings were interpreted or why certain options were discussed, which understandably led to confusion and concern.
We cannot discuss individual medical records or internal consultations in a public forum, but feedback like this is taken seriously. Fantastic experience: Never fun to have to bring your dog in for an emergency visit. All the staff was kind and helpful throughout the night. Just like a human ER, urgency is based on level of trauma so you could be waiting a while. They provide beverages and a big waiting area. I felt like my dog was very well taken care of and they all listened to my concerns. Never a cheap visit, but the quality of service aligns well with the cost of service. Hope to not be back, but grateful we have a place like this in Des Moines!

Fantastic experience: Emergency services for your fur babies is always going to be expensive unfortunately, but the staff at Blue Pearl are very understanding! They provided me a small buffer between what I spent and the actual bill when it came to hospitalizing my male cat for a urinary blockage for close to two full days. They not only provided me with that, but they have given excellent care on multiple occasions at odd times of the night to more than one of my animals. Being an anxious animal owner is no fun, but I have always found comfort with them being in the care of the Doctors and staff at this vet hospital when things resort to needing them.

Fantastic experience: I have taken my cats here multiple times for a variety of reasons and each time I have received incredible care. Sometimes the waits are long, but if your pet is in immediate need, they are taken back right away. My cat required hospitalization and they kept me up to date every step of the way. They communicate really well with my regular vet and send all of the details to them very promptly.

Negative experience: I had an appointment with the specialty part of the clinic, and I found their attention to a client's time lacking in that they didn't communicate in a timely manner regarding tests, next steps for that appointment, etc, and even when I left my pet for a CT scan and then tried to pick my pet up when I was told she was ready to go I had to wait again for the bill and paperwork to hit the front desk - Plus, they wouldn't bring my pet up to me until I had paid the bill! Also, they were suppose to draw blood for a test before I made my decision about the pricey CT scan; however they came and told me they weren't able to do the blood draw because my dog kept picking up her leg. My primary vet was able to get a blood draw without sedating my dog. Is she difficult -yes - but this is an emergency clinic too and I have to think they should have the expertise to draw enough blood for a single blood test (not a panel). If I had known that the blood test came back normal (which it did), I may have skipped the CT scan. Kind of felt like a scammy type of excuse to get the big ticket item. I have lived in numerous cities and have always depended upon Blue Pearl for emergencies, and specialty doctors. I have had really great experiences, but this experience isn't high on my list and I will rethink their specialists and maybe go to Iowa State next time.

Fantastic experience: My puppy I think swallowed some plastic from a wiffle golf ball she had been playing with & later began wretching like she was going to throw it up but never did. I wasn't comfortable with her doing that all night so we went to BluePearl at 11pm to have her checked out. Staff there were so nice & friendly. Kept us informed all along the way of what next step should be...she had scratches in her esophagus & they wanted to take xrays to see if was stuck there or passed on through & needed to wait for a radiologist to read them in the next couple hours & we needed to stay there...they didn't find anything lodged in her throat or what appeared to be plastic in her stomach. We were there until 3am but satisfied she wasn't wanting to throw up anymore definitely gave me peace of mind. Thank you BluePearl for taking such good care of my pup ❤️

Fantastic experience: I brought my cat here for a ranula under his tounge. I requested Dr.Spah as he had done a very complicated surgery on a cat we had rescued and brought to Critter Crusaders. My cat had had surgery in July and developed the ranula under his tounge afterwards. That surgery and recovery experience was a nightmare, but that's a different review. For this surgery, I had paid $280 for a consultation with a different vet at Blue Pearl Cedar Rapids and reluctantly scheduled an appointment . Again, that's a different review. Although it was a 2 hour drive , I decided to check with Blue Pearl in Des Moines and was able to get a consultation with Dr. Spah. I really appreciated that the consultation was to be followed with the surgery (if I choose to do it ) that same day. It was the best decision I ever made. I knew immediately that Dr.Spah was the best surgeon for this procedure. I also appreciated that my cat was kept over night to be monitored. The staff are wonderful and I felt so relieved that my cat was in such good hands. I highly recommend Blue Pearl Des Moines and Dr. Spah is a fantastic surgeon and a very kind person. Those two qualities together are hard to find in the veterinary field today . I could not be happier with my experience !

Fantastic experience: My beautiful girl was having pain - which we thought was a slipped disc. We got a referral to neurologist Dr Jill Niederhuth within 2 days. She was kind and gentle and did an exam and sedated CT that day. Had it been a disc issue she would have done surgery right then, but unfortunately it was a tumor. We took her home later that day and gave her one last good day, saying our goodbyes the next day. I really appreciated the speedy appointment, diagnosis and potential treatment for my hurting girl. I would definitely go back.

Fantastic experience: My 4 year old German Shepherd Nzima was choking and they helped save her. We did what we could at home to help her (unsuccessful) so we knew we must take her to the Emergency Vet. Negative experience: 1200 for resuscitation of my pet who had a seizure which I could not afford so he was left to die. 1000 dollars to go into this vet and watch my pet die within 20 minutes of being there an to get him cremated. this place will drain your wallets during one of the worst experiences you’ll have ever.

Fantastic experience: My dog ate a corn on cob thy got her in right away and told me there plan. What is even more special I did not have the funds today to pay for it. They made sure to make sure my dog got the care she needed and said they would take care of it this time. The front desk ladies were so nice and so was the vet! Fantastic experience: Our puppy got sick and it was after hours I called around frantically to try and find a Vet who would see him. Blue Pearl said they would check him out even though we didn't have any money. They told us our Puppy had parvo and need to be seen the next day at a Vet. We managed to get a credit card approval for 300 and I called to offer the cost of service, they knew we were struggling and told us to keep the money for the Vet. This place is kind, caring about your pet and not the money. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts and are glad to say our puppy is on his way to fighting this disease. Thank you Blue Pearl. Fantastic experience: BluePearl Pet Hospital is he best recommendation I could ever give a pet parent of any kind, whether it’s cats or dogs or possibly other types. From my personal experience and even my family’s, they’ve loved and nurtured our pets. I had to sadly bring my Charlie dog here multiple times during his last days but each time was like the first. Fantastic experience: I just wanted to express my deepest gratitude to this incredible team. I brought in a tiny kitten, just three weeks old, who I found outside. I did everything I could to help her, but unfortunately, she wasn’t strong enough to fight back. The vet tech was so professional and patient. Positive experience: Our male cat couldn’t pee which is an emergency. They were able put a catheter in and kept him a couple days to monitor him. They send you a picture daily and updates twice a day. Except for the cost it was excellent care.

Fantastic experience: The front desk ladies and the veterinarian were fabulous! My St Bernard puppy ate something unknown so I brought him to BluePearl and they quickly got it out of him and he was back to his normal playful self shortly after returning home! The only thing that would have made the experience better is if the vet tech was friendly, and spoke to me instead of my mother, as the puppy in question is mine, and if the services were a little more affordable.

Negative experience: My review is primarily focused on the Katie, the client services manager. Her demeanor and actions are unacceptable in any industry but especially in an emergency veterinary hospital. Our dog was brought in because she suffered an impact during a car ride and was bleeding from the nose and mouth. She was lethargic, not eating and obviously not well. The initial wait time was 2-4 hours. They took her to the back immediately to be "evaluated". Two hours later we had not heard anything nor had we been asked to sign anything for diagnostics. I approached Katie and inquired as to the status and did we need to sign anything. She appeared annoyed that I had approached her. I explained why I was concerned that no one had spoken to us for two hours. She said she would check and I was dismissed. I watched her continue to chat with a coworker, disappear into the back and about 30 minutes later she called me to the desk to sign a consent for diagnostic testing. 30 minutes later they changed the wait time to 8-10 hours to see a doctor. I approached Katie to clarify if that meant my dog was sitting in kennel waiting to be evaluated. She said, yes. I clarified that she would not be evaluated for an additional 8-10 hours and she said, yes. I asked if anyone had even looked at my dog and she said, her vitals are fine. She is stable. She is not a priority. I said, I could take her home and wait 8-10 hours rather than have her in a kennel. She agreed and told me she would be happy to get her for me. She didn't offer to check with a doctor to see if that would be the correct course of action. She just brought me my dog. 8 hours later my dog had deteriorated and I was back at the hospital. Katie was not there. My dog was critical. She spent four days in the hospital and sadly, she terminal. Now, I am not implying that Katies horrible attitude and demeanor had anything to do with my dog's outcome. I am saying her lack of compassion and concern made a horrible situation worse. She has no business working in a role that requires a human touch. Kindness. Compassion. And BTW, we are customers that spent $9400 and at the very least, deserve better customer service.

Fantastic experience: I took my pup here for the ER on a saturday at 9pm. There were a lot of other people there as well. The wait was long but the staff was very friendly and did all they could with how busy they were. They were very clear and forward about pricing. At the ER, pets are seen by severity of illness, not by arrival time. Everyone is worried about their pet but I think that needs to be remembered. It might be good to put a second vet on call if saturdays are often as busy as they were when I was there, but bless them for the work they do. I was fortunate to go home with my pup, many others weren't so lucky. Thanks!

Negative experience: Brought my dog in with vomiting and diarrhea. I did the responsible thing and also brought in a stool sample. The stool sample was completely disregarded and my dog was given an unneeded xray for foreign bodies and probiotic medication for an upset stomach to the tune of $1000. A week later we got him in to our regular vet who ASKED for a stool sample and upon testing found Giardia. 30m later we left with medication and food for it and had answers to why our dog was sick. $250 I don't understand why the staff at Blue Pearl disregarded the stool sample I brought in.

Fantastic experience: We had to take our puppy in the induce vomiting for swallowing a tampon!! Never heard of a dog doing this but I guess it’s common. The person I talked to on the phone calmed my nerves quickly. We took her in and she was able to vomit it up! They took good care of her and everyone was very caring. I was in my PJs and looked very bedhead etc and no one cared. We will tell others about your place and how quickly and calmly your staff cares for not just the beloved pet but the humans, too!

Fantastic experience: Rushed here late at night and immediately got in as it was a triage ordeal. Unfortunately, our sweet cat passed away the moment they brought her back. They showed so much compassion to us and took care of all the cremation arrangements. They even sent a signed card from the entire staff along with ink prints of our sweet girl’s nose and paws. And being that she passed before they could even really do anything, they did not charge us for the normal exam fee. Thankful for their care and love they showed us and to our girl.

Positive experience: My cat had a gash in his leg requiring two stitches. I got at the facility at 11pm. I left at 4:30 am. I thought it took too long to treat him. They were busy, but not overly busy. I also never got an update. And they triage immediately. One other customer had her dog triaged immediately and the dog barked for hours before it was seen by the vet. Let her keep her dog until the vet is ready to see the dog. And the TV in the waiting room should have shows on instead of the same BluePearl adds over and over.
