Fantastic experience: I feel that my dog was well cared for and given the best care possible. I was really impressed with all of the staff that I interacted with during this stressful time. The very tech who we checked in and checked out with. She was knowledgeable, kind, and professional. I feel that because of the care my dog received, he will continue to have a high quality life.

Positive experience: We had a great experience with the treatment of our cat Anna in the emergency dept. They were able to diagnose her and get her fixed up quick. The girls at the desk, both Vet techs and Dr. Parte were great. My only complaint is how expensive it is but we knew it would be going in.

Fantastic experience: We came in on Feb. 28 with an emergency gastroenteritis case. Harley had been vomiting and having diarrhea all night. She was badly dehydrated and needed care. They took her in and made her more comfortable. They worked out a treatment plan and got meds started to make her better. She ended up having to stay overnight to have an IV. She was discharged the next day and went home with food and medication. She is doing very well now and feeling much better. I would definitely recommend VMC of CNY if you have an emergency situation on the weekend. They’re good folks.

Fantastic experience: Received wonderful care for my dog Drac. He was being evaluated for reoccurring ear infections and requires a few procedures. The front desk, tech and Dr Koch were all wonderful to work with. Professional and caring. I appreciated that the front desk would check on me if there was a delay and would check in back and give me an updated status on how Drac was doing. This was my second time needing their services. High recommend!

Fantastic experience: The vet that saw my dog was very upfront and did not pressure me in anyway to pursue additional medical treatment since the dog was not showing any physical symptoms related to a high level that showed up in blood work.

Dr. Bloom was extremely knowledgeable, compassionate and made sure we understood the treatments and procedures we could expect, depending on what they found on the x-ray. Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Dr. Kathy Rowe-Guthrie at Veterinary Medical Center in East Syracuse, who performed BOAS surgery on my 2-year-old French Bulldog with exceptional skill. Throughout the entire process, Dr. Rowe-Guthrie demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and genuine compassion. She clearly explained every aspect of the procedure, instilling confidence in me that my dog was receiving top-notch care. Although my pet's surgery was recent, and he is still in the recovery phase, he is progressing well, thanks to the outstanding care provided by Dr. Rowe-Guthrie and her talented staff. Fantastic experience: Dr. Michael Koch came highly recommended by our local vets. He took time with us during our visit to clearly explain what he found after examining our dog, to discuss options, and to confirm our plan of action. Fantastic experience: My fiance and I came here yesterday with our cute little 3.5 year old domestic long hair tabby boy Bagheera, It was a very long and stressful day. We brought him in because he was having these rapid breathing episodes, lethargy, not eating, and just overall unwell. When we got there we were a little mislead about the initial price of the exam but after the care and knowledge the staff gave us I am happy with the results. At first the doctor got him incubated and triaged, and was discussing the possibility of some serious issues such as HCM (congestive heart failure) and other lung/heart issues. They wanted to take some x rays and blood tests to see what was going on with him so we agreed to do that. We waited a very long time and finally got some news that wasn't an ideal result but not life threatening like HCM. He ended up having asthma. The compassion and knowledge that the staff gave us was very calming and heartwarming. As a pet owner emergencies like these are very hard to deal with and very expensive, I hope in the future that Healthcare for pets is looked over and worked out so it can be a bit more affordable but all in all I am very grateful for this team as they were the only emergency vet to take him in and have the capability to diagnose our baby. Fantastic experience: The care provided to my pups was extraordinary. Lisa, one of the vet techs, met me and my pups with so much care and empathy. Dr. Chan was excellent throughout the whole multi-day process. Every single person from security to reception to tech to vet was compassionate and kind.

Negative experience: This was honestly one of the most frustrating and unprofessional experiences I’ve ever had with a veterinary clinic. We called ahead before driving an hour and a half because our cat was sick. We were clearly told there was little to no wait time and that the exam fee would be around $250. Based on that, we made the trip. The moment we got there, everything suddenly changed. They took our cat to the back, we waited about 10 minutes, and then a nurse came out telling us the wait was actually 2.5 to 4 hours and the cost had magically jumped to $400. That’s not a small misunderstanding, that’s completely different information than what we were given on the phone. We asked if we could just speak briefly with the doctor to understand what was going on or whether our cat seemed stable. We were flat-out told no information could be given unless we paid the exam fee first. The doctor (long blonde hair, didn’t catch her name) came across as dismissive and had an attitude that felt borderline mocking. There was zero empathy, zero professionalism, and absolutely no sense that they cared about a worried pet owner. So after wasting three hours driving round trip, we left without answers and didn’t even get home until close to midnight. The next day, our regular vet immediately found our cat had a fever the previous night. They must have taken her temp but this was something this emergency clinic apparently couldn’t be bothered to communicate. If you value honesty, transparency, or basic compassion when your pet is sick, this is not the place. Being misled about wait times and pricing and then treated like an inconvenience is unacceptable, especially from an emergency vet. I would never trust them again.

Fantastic experience: Veterinary Medical Center of CNY is fantastic! My chihuahua needed care on a Sunday and thankfully VMC does 24/7 care. Vet tech took him to triage where they were able to fix the problem in no time. It is a comfort knowing where we can go in an emergency.

Fantastic experience: My boy is getting close to passing, and I was searching for a 24-hour veterinarian. I live all the way in Auburn and there was nobody open here. I did not want to let him suffer through the night so I searched and found this place. When we got there they immediately took us back to a room. They took my boy from me the weigh him for his medicine. But when they came back in they stated that he had gone to sleep. They gave him a nice soft bed and blanket and let us have our moments with him. You look so peaceful and they were so sweet. They really gave us time with him and it meant so much that they were there at 11:00 at night. The price 357 but it was worth every penny for them just being there in a time when I didn't know if my boy was going to be able to make the drive and needing to be put down or if he was going to go to sleep on the way. I did not have to keep him at home in the refrigerator I didn't have to just have him suffer breathing through the night. It gave me a lot of comfort with my family and I. They called me today and I went to pick up my boy and he was in a beautiful dark wooden box. They gave us paw prints and even nose prints. They gave us several copies for ourselves and families. Thank you for taking care of my boy Riker it means the world to me and my family. I also donated his carrier because I couldn't bring it home with me I have two other cats and I couldn't keep an empty carrier. So I was very happy I could leave it there and hopefully give someone else a nice little carrier for their animal. I would trust them with all my animals needs

Fantastic experience: I am beyond grateful to all of the staff at VMC. They were able to get my dog in with internal medicine for an urgent matter within a couple of days of contacting them. Any dog owner knows how incredibly stressful it is when your baby is hurting and you desperately need help and this practice made me feel seen, supported and at ease. From the incredibly sweet woman I spoke with on the phone, to the amazing LVT that took care of my boy all day and Dr. Koch who fixed him, I am so impressed with the compassion and quality of care at this facility. Huckleberry has made a full recovery and is doing fantastic thanks to all of you. We appreciate all of you so much and I know we can count on you for his future care!

Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with the care. Over the moon happy with the level of care my animal received. We didn't have to wait very long, everyone was kind, supportive and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond to make sure not only my animal was taken care of but also me and my wife remained calm. Really all of them did a spectacular job. The front desk was really sweet. The techs kept us informed and taught us how to make out dog urinate. The veterinarian was really kind in explaining a very serious condition our dog has. It was probably not easy to have that conversation but we really appreciated the honesty and empathy. Negative experience: This was the only place open locally when my dog was ill (colder than normal, trouble standing, vomiting) called on my way to ensure they were open and to let them know my dog was in bad condition. (5 mile drive) The woman on the phone instructed me to go to Rochester and other locations that were closed, I called back and begged to stay local in fear my dog would not make it to Rochester, and was not worried about price to save my dog.... She said they were full and would let my dog die in the lobby if I showed up (I specifically asked if I showed up of they would let my dog die in the lobby) she responded with yes. I headed to Rochester and gave them a call, it took ~20 minutes to connect to someone and explain the situation, Rochester was to call me back after speaking with Dewitt. After 30 minutes and a call back; Rochester instructed me to go to back Dewitt. On my way back (30 minutes, 1 hour total) our amazing dog Simba dies ~5 minutes prior to arrival to VMC... This was over a Year ago, October 29th 2024... I will never forget.

Fantastic experience: I came in last night due to my car having an asthma attack. The entire staff was very kind, accommodating, and they answered any and all questions I had in a very thoughtful and thorough way. I left with no confusion or doubts about future treatment for my boy. They made sure he was as comfortable as he could possibly be before sending him back home with us and I greatly appreciate it. Fantastic experience: We were very happy with our recent emergency visit which required our dog to have surgery. We were kept up to date in a timely manner. Our dog was treated with love and care. I wish there was a surgeon on in the evening so that if an animal needs emergency surgery they could get it sooner and not wait until they can get fit in. Overall, staff was great, responsive and kind. Everyone was helpful, kind and understood our stress over our pet. Great quality of care, compassion, knowledge and communication.

Negative experience: I have it two stars because it's open when you need it for emergencies. But I've been here 4 times in 15 years and I'm always disappointed. Once they missed a bone my dog had eaten, apparently they looked again at the X-rays 2 days later and saw it. The veterinarian we saw today was condescending and misleading. He said he was going to give me two medications for my cat. One liquid, one pill form in case administering the liquid didn't go well. I asked what they were. First I wanted to know if they were the same thing in different form, I could get over and come back for the other if needed. So he told me the pill form was an opiate. I asked which and he said gabapentin. That is NOT an opiate, it's an anti-epileptic medication that's used for pain. So I asked what the liquid was and he said an opiate. I asked which one. Took 3 times asking to find out what he wanted to prescribe my cat. Then he finally told me. I would never come back except in an emergency, and honestly, if it can wait, I'll wait next time.

Fantastic experience: I just want to give the vet team from last night Nov 17 2026 my sincerest thank you for your patience in helping my son having to make the difficult decision to have to let his precious Chloe pass with dignity rather than let her suffer a prolonged and painful illness. Chloe died of a broken heart from missing her sister Ally who you take of 7 months prior. Chloe was more than just a cat she was a service animal who stayed by my son when he wasn’t feeling well or was in pain from his disability. Negative experience: I brought my 8 month old kitten in due to vomiting at 11 pm. I was sure it was just a stomach ache but better safe than sorry. When we got there they triaged her in the waiting room, no privacy. After waiting about 4 hours, with no one else in the waiting room we were finally brought in the exam room. When we arrived it became clear the vet knew nothing about my cats condition, despite all the forms filled out and information shared. We were then informed of the cost. 400 dollar test for parvo, even though she is vaccinated for this to begin. They then presented a ~2000 dollar estimate to check for different reasons she may be sick, with x-rays and blood work. Such a money scam, it’s no wonder they tell you the price in private. When the vet told me this I broke into tears. At this point it was 3 am and I just wanted to see my cat, who was not in the exam room and I had not seen in hours. I was torn between being certain my cat was okay, and being able to afford food for my semester back at college. Ultimately I decided against the x-rays and blood work, and opted just for the anti-nausea medicine. After this decision, I waited another hour to see my cat. Not sure why this took so long. The total came out to 466.66, for basically nothing. This was such a stressful, long, and overall horrible experience. The staff made sure to remind me my cat was shaking and scared back in the kennel multiple times, but did not let me see her throughout the 6 hours there. Please, take your animal anywhere else. They just wanted your money and your time, they do not care about your pet.

Negative experience: I am disgusted with the service and care provided during our recent emergency visit. We traveled over an hour, on the recommendation of our local vet, with our seriously ill elder cat. Upon arrival, we understood the waiting room was busy and that it would take time. We were approached by a tech who asked us further questions and asked us to sign for a $550 upfront charge to have our cat examined. We agreed to this and they than proceeded to hand our cat over. However, after waiting over an hour, we were finally called to a room and told the dr would be in shortly. Dr. Lauren Arnold, who is not listed as a DMV on their website, met with us without even examining our cat prior. She asked us what was going on and symptoms which we already provided to the tech that asked us the initial questions. Still haven’t seen our cat nor has she by the context of this conversation. She proposed running labs with no notions or ideas of what might be happening and sent us back to the waiting room. She told us someone would get us from the waiting room again to go over a treatment plan. Following another half-hour wait, we were called back again and presented with an additional $1300 bill for blood work and X-rays. This seemed excessive, especially since our cat had not yet received any treatment to our knowledge let alone even looked at. We agreed to the blood work, but felt like our cat was being held hostage for money from the way they were communicating with us. When we questioned the young secretary, she did not have any answers and kept saying she would have to ask Dr Arnold. The staff overall showed a concerning lack of compassion, seeming more focused on financial aspects and there gossip than our pet's well-being. After another hour I approached the desk asking for an update and the secretary said “oh let me get you into a room.” Dr. Arnold came in a few minutes later and reported the blood work was normal aside from hydration. We questioned the Dr. about our cat's breathing, and she stated her lungs sounded clear and breathing seemed normal. She said she wanted to do a plan of hydrating, administer anti-nausea medication, and discharge her unless we wanted to pay more for more testing (still with no ideas presented on what could possibly be going on). We decided at this point we were so uncomfortable at this point with the care that we would indeed take her back home. Another secretary comes in and we were presented with yet another bill for $634 for medications, which we agreed to. Back to the waiting room we were sent…. After another long wait, a vet tech finally came out to go over the discharge instructions. She proceeded to inform us that our cat had been on oxygen for hours, (NEVER WAS THIS MENTIONED PRIOR TO THIS) with concerning O2 levels of 93% even with the oxygen support. She proceeds to tell us that Dr Arnold stated in the notes that our cats lungs had a cackling sound going on in them! NEVER EVEN WHEN ASKED ABOUT OUR CATS BREATHING WAS THIS MENTIONED. I will preach it to the world to NEVER BRING YOUR ILL PET TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. The lack of transparency and the apparent disregard for our cat's condition was beyond appalling! We will be reporting this clinic and Dr. Arnold to the New York State Veterinary Board. The entire experience felt like a scam, and it's clear that the staff's priority is profit over patient care let alone how absolutely rude some of the staff was to us. Got zero diagnosis for her not even a possibly this or that… if you love your animals stay away from this place!!

Positive experience: Came in earlier this week for some bite wounds that my dog sustained from another dog on his chest. He was bleeding pretty bad and we were worried they penetrated his lungs or chest cavity. We did have to wait almost 3 hours to be seen, then about another 3 until all paperwork, procedure, and discharge was done but it was a busy night and we understand they have a lot of animals to see to. Waiting area was a bit small but comfortable and everyone we spoke with was very calm and helpful during this distressing situation. Dr. Bloom was fantastic and assessed the appropriate treatment and meds. X-rays confirmed his chest cavity was fine but still needed stitches. We did end up paying a hefty bill, but is to be expected for emergency care, are we’re glad we did everything we could for our boy. They also promptly forwarded everything onto our regular vet so they’re aware of the situation. He is healing up well now and we’re very thankful for the kindness and professionalism at VMC!

Fantastic experience: My cat passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of his home on a Friday. I wanted to have him cremated, but the place I wanted to do it at is open Monday-Friday for pickups and drop offs . The hospital allowed me to say my final goodbye to him in the room & had him wrapped in a nice blanket. They also made 8 ink paw prints for me to keep which meant a lot. They took him to hold him over the weekend until the pet funeral home could pick him up. They put a hold charge on my card and said once he’s picked up, they will remove it. Most places, it costs a fortune just to walk in the door, and this hospital helped me in my time of sorrow and need. The staff was compassionate and answered all my questions. Thank you again for all you have done for Vinnie and I.

Negative experience: My cat did not receive any emergency care here when he desperately needed it. $255 to walk in the door, ok whatever that’s fine, but the rest was not. He was taken in when we arrived and sat there unseen for 3 hours. He hadn’t eaten in days and was in critical condition. We were called into a room after 3 hours where my cat was still not there. After waiting 30 mins more, the vet came in, saying she had done a brief exam but did not know the issue. I had given the girl who took my cat my cat’s entire medical file when we arrived to scan in. The vet did not know of any of my cat’s pre-existing conditions and admitted she did not look at his chart meaning she had no idea the severity of his case. She then told us she’d run a ton of tests, get him on meds, IV, X-rays and left the room. A girl came in with our $2000 estimate. My cat was not eating. He should have been given fluids and nausea meds immediately and was just sitting in a cage with no care. I told her I wanted a quote for nausea meds, appetite stimulant and IV. She had to talk to the vet about this. Came back with a $450 bill. We agreed to this and by the time I signed the paper, she told me the vet was no longer available and we would have to wait an additional 2 hours just for the vet to give us 2 meds and a syringe of saline. She told us no one else could do it. So my starving, dehydrated cat was supposed to just sit in a cage alone for 5 hours? How is that emergency care? Absolutely terrible service with no urgency so we asked for my cat back. By the time we drove 2 hours home, my regular vet would be open and if my cat could live til then, then I was just leaving. It took another 30 mins to get my cat back with no explanation as to why. One of the girl’s at the desk was extremely rude and rolled her eyes at my boyfriend and when I was waiting for my discharge papers, she told me “you can just leave” giving me no paperwork. The entire experience was terrible and I understand why there is a security guard present. I am very lucky my cat did not die there. When you have an emergency and need emergency care, you should receive emergency care. I would never recommend this facility and will actively tell others in the area to drive to Cornell.

Fantastic experience: I would like to thank Dr. Patton for her kindness and understanding during a very difficult time. Ultimately, I had to make the hard decision about our dear little Stella, but it was an informed decision thanks to Dr. Patton and she reassured me it was the right decision. I'll never forget that. I also want to thank the staff for taking us right in. It was a hard enough situation without my having to wait hours just for my dog to be seen. Letting go of my little dog was wrenching and unexpected. I am glad I could say goodbye and kiss her little head at the end. She was a feisty little thing and the prognosis was such that she would have lost quality of life and personality. I hope she knew I was with her and will cherish her memory. I was a little taken aback by the cost of the initial treatment and felt that the billing rep was a bit too clinical, especially considering my highly emotional state at the time. When someone is weeping uncontrollable, it seems a bit harsh to be talking costs. I probably should have negotiated more, but was in no condition to do so. Negative experience: IF YOU CAN HELP IT DONT BRING YOUR PET HERE ! They prey on vulnerable people in bad situations We brought our dog to the Veterinary Medical Center of CNY in East Syracuse on 12/13 around 8:30 AM for a bite wound. After the initial exam, we were immediately presented with a treatment plan that was over $2,000, including sedation, X-rays, wound cultures, IV catheter placement, and other extensive services. We made it clear that this was not something we could afford and that we were only comfortable moving forward if it was absolutely necessary. From that point on, it felt like we were negotiating instead of receiving care. We were then given a second estimate around $1,200, which we also declined. We repeatedly explained that we only wanted basic care: shave the area, clean the wound, assess it, antibiotics, and pain medication. During this nearly two-hour period of discussing and negotiating treatment options, no one came in to provide even basic care. No gauze was applied, no bandage was placed, and no pain medication was given, despite our dog actively bleeding while we sat in the room. Around noon, after almost two hours, we finally agreed to a $500 treatment plan and paid immediately. At that point we expected our dog to be treated, but instead he waited for hours. He sat in the back with an open bite wound, no bandage, no pain medication, and no basic wound care. We received no updates unless we called ourselves and were told more than once that he was just sitting in a cage. When he was finally treated, all that was done was shaving around the wound, cleaning it, and assessing it. This is a very quick and basic procedure, which makes the hours-long delay hard to understand. If this simple care took all day to complete, it raises serious questions about how the much more time-intensive treatment plan they initially pushed could have been performed. When we called shortly before 5 PM, we were told our dog was next to be seen. Within 10 to 15 minutes, we received a call saying he was already done and ready for discharge. That timing makes it difficult not to feel that his quick treatment was unnecessarily delayed after we declined the higher-cost options. We understand that emergency hospitals must triage and that more critical cases come in. What was upsetting was feeling that once we declined the expensive treatment plans, our dog’s care was pushed aside even though the care we approved was minimal and fast. We also felt increasing frustration from staff and the veterinarian because we chose basic treatment. Pet owners should never feel pressured or judged for choosing a medically reasonable option for their pet. There are very few emergency veterinary options in the Syracuse area on weekends, and when your pet is hurt, you don’t truly have a choice. This experience felt like that lack of options was used to pressure us into expensive plans, and when we declined, our dog waited. No dog should sit bleeding and in pain for hours for a treatment that ultimately takes only minutes to perform.

Pets who are stable—even with wounds that require care—may wait while more critical cases are treated first. In this case, your dog was assessed as stable, which is why care was delayed, not because you declined higher-cost options.

We respect that families must make treatment decisions that are right for them and do not judge those choices. While we regret that communication did not better set expectations around triage and timing, our team’s priority is always to treat the most critical patients first while providing appropriate care to all. Negative experience: Not a fan. We live over an hour away. We went on Saturday at 9 pm. Left at 2 am. We didn't have a problem with the wait time, just the lack of true care. Front staff and tech were decent, helpful, and nice. However, our dog literally needed fluids, we told them she vomited 6 times at home, they never provided any--(they stuck an IV in her leg and left it there, and threw her back in the room with us for 5 hours, no fluids) besides one subcuteous dose that was gone in the matter of minutes (because they didn't do it properly it takes time to deliver subcut fluids and she was out in 2 minutes) which was given upon us leaving, oversediated her to the point she was unresponsive (in the middle of night once home). And dont try and say you care about these animals! You care about the payment only! I'm a R.N. this place was nothing more than a money grab. For a CBC, rapid point screen, "bag of fluid", antinausea shot, and a sedative that was wayyy to strong on a severely dehydrated dog, it was 1100.00. Literally did nothing she needed like supportive fluids and barium xrays. She threw up in the office and had been throwing up since 3 pm that afternoon. They ignored her for another 2 hours until it was time to leave then then the "provided" the nausea med, it would have taken 2 minutes to provide the medication. The vet was obnoxious and tried to tell us she had an adrenal disease. FYI it was not. They do nothing in front of you so I doubt besides the oversedation they did anything for her. This place ABSOLUTELY needs to be investigated. People need to give voices to the voiceless. ADVOCATE FOR YOUR ANIMALS. I'm doing my due diligence with the state on this one. Thank God OUR vet was open on Sunday to care for her properly. I would not go here again. They did literally nothing to help our girl. Our vet started supported fluids immediately, series of barium xrays, CBC, Chem 17 panel, antinausea meds, and got to the root of the problem and was cheaper than the "emergency vet" on a Sunday and was there 8 hrs. RECEIVING ACTUAL CARE! Save your money and your furry companion. I am not cheap. I dont mind paying for real care, but this place was not it. Update 12/30/25: Better clean up that "audit" because I'm filing a complaint with the NYS board tomorrow. Now that our girl is on the mend from the non-ethical practices your staff did. I have 5 hr video from start to finish of her "care" there. Or lack there of-- 5 hours no fluids, overmedicated severely dehyrated dog that was unresponsive at home without a sternal rub. Thank God for cell phones!

Fantastic experience: Our family had to say goodbye to our beloved cat Prudence. I called and got the information and the help and the cost. The team was supportive, caring, and gracious. The service was professional and I paid what we discussed on the phone. Note in per care this is hard to do. That said I was comfortable that what we discussed was the cost. Fantastic experience: Everybody was so kind and diligent, I got regular updates during Luna's hospitalization and they were very transparent about everything. Luna is feeling much better now thanks to everybody at VMC I'm really bad with names but I want to say everyone was incredibly kind and compassionate. Fantastic experience: There is no oncology specialist in Rochester, so our regular veterinary clinic sent referrals to four oncology specialists. We were grateful to receive a phone call the next morning from Jessica about an opening that day in Syracuse VMC. VMC, a 90-minute drive from home, is the closest clinic for Shiloh's chemo. The front desk staff are professional and pleasant. The waiting room is comfortable. Medical staff are attentive. The veterinary specialist and staff promptly communicate test results and treatment options. Each staff member, in whatever capacity, has been professional, respectful, empathetic, and concerned for my dog's wellbeing and my peace of mind.

Positive experience: Front staff was great, the lady with the billing was kind of condescending when we were trying to figure out what to do. The vet that was there when we went seemed like if we didnt stay (and would probably have to stay for 3 days) it would end very badly but the vet that called in the morning said he hadn't had symptoms in 12 hours he would be fine. So I dont felt like it was necessary to stay but hes doing okay, so were happy with that.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend. The vets usually offer multiple options for treatment when possible. My primary vet does not do same day appointments so I've come to depend on their services. The kindness and compassion of the veterinarian staff is appreciated—especially in past visits where I've had to have cats euthanized due to illness. The vet techs are nice, too. Yes- it is expensive but I’m aware of that when I choose to go there.

Fantastic experience: My cat received the highest standard of care at the VMC. She was triaged quickly and determined to be stable and non-urgent, which eased my immediate concern. The vet who examined her chatted with me about immediate treatment and possible causes that more thorough follow up may warrant. She was detailed and answered all my questions and I appreciate the level of care provided. We came in on a big snowstorm morning so a big thank you as well to everyone who came in to make a difference for the pets and pet parents that needed help that day. You're all so appreciated. The entire staff makes the VMC everything that it is. I hope we are fortunate to always have this incredible veterinary hospital in CNY.

Positive experience: Everyone here was super helpful and friendly. We had to drive an hour for the closest emergency vet and they triaged us quickly. Our pet was seen and helped with good care. They do charge a lot for an assessment being an emergency vet but staff was transparent about that from the beginning.

Fantastic experience: They were very helpful and caring...We were there about an hour and were seen by the tech first then given a couple of options, I chose to have the doctor check him out and she took him in the back and cleaned out his cut and was able to close it without stitches... Very thankful for the staff Everyone from the guard to the doctor was friendly and helpful with my dog and I Their expertise, communication and caring for your pets

Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with the attention I received at vmc. I was especially pleased with their triage system. They took my kitty into an examination room and checked to see whether her problem was urgent or not. Then brought her out and explained to me that I could either pay their fee and get her treated right then or not pay their fee and get her treated at my appointment with my own vet the next day, which is what I chose to do. It's nice to have that choice.

Fantastic experience: Having a pet emergency on the weekend is always scary. Yes, it’s expensive but the staff is very upfront and honest about the prices. They let you know if your pet is having an emergency or can wait to be seen by your regular vet to avoid a big bill. The staff was very knowledgeable and aware of the sensitivity of the situation. They were communicative about timelines and took the time to answer my questions even when it was busy and not my turn. The vet was very knowledgeable and down to earth and spoke in clear terms I understood. He was kind and never spoke to me with any judgment. The vet tech was very sweet and brought our meds and discharge paperwork out to my car despite the fact that it was raining. I was told someone would call me and instead she took it upon herself to bring it right out to me. I’m very impressed that a facility that sees so many sick pets and runs 24 hours a day can give consistent positive experiences. I’ve had to go a few times in the last year or so and I always leave with answers and a peace of mind that my pet received the best care.

Fantastic experience: The care was excellent - we are from Rochester and your vet office was the ONLY one who said we could come in to be seen. It was a drive but the compassion and help our kitty received was top notch. Honestly everyone, from the front desk to the technicians and the vet we saw. All excellent! Fantastic experience: We needed to bring our elderly cat in over the weekend after her health declined rapidly and we could not wait for our regular vet on Monday. Unfortunately we needed end of life care for her. The doctor and care team at Veterinary Medical Center got us in right away to a private room, gave us time, and helped us say goodbye. They were compassionate, thoughtful, and gentle. I cannot thank them enough for taking the time with our sweet girl and giving her the last bit of care and attention she needed. With all my heart. Fantastic experience: Staff was incredibly friendly, informative and gentle towards me and my pet. Staff handled my dog Zeak with the utmost care and respect. After our visit, Staff was really informative and helpful in follow-up care and did everything they could for Zeak! I have a terrible memory with names. My appointment was 11/10/2025 at 9:00AM. Everyone, and I mean everyone from front-desk and all the way to the doctor were incredible. Although the news we discovered during our visit was terrible, the staff truthfully showed that they cared, not just with the time we spent with them, but for the future of my pet. I appreciate and Zeak appreciates every single one of them that we interacted with. The kindness and professionalism they demonstrated was incredible

Fantastic experience: All of the staff were absolutely amazing. We went in because our primary vet couldn’t fit our girl in for an appointment and we were told not to wait. They got us in quickly, and were kind, gentle and explained everything thoroughly. Dr. Cudney especially was phenomenal. Her gentle demeanor, honesty and kindness in a difficult time for us made our experience easier. The veterinary field is lucky to have her. Our girl’s last moments were peaceful and full of love. We are so grateful for all who cared for her during her final hours.

Negative experience: QUESTION EVERYTHING!! $11,000 for a three day hospital stay, drugged my cat to the brink of death, to then be advised my cat had cancer, lost use of his legs, and the only option was euthanasia. Once I began to question the Veterinarian, asked for additional details, the imaging and biopsy performed, she froze and admitted the imaging in question as well as a biopsy were not performed, and confirmed she had provided me an incorrect diagnosis. They had my cat on 5-6 pain medications concurrently when I was only advised of one. I immediately removed my cat from their services, brought him home, and he is off the pain meds and walking perfectly. Every negative review is correct. This place needs to be shut down and everyone who works there [front desk, billing, techs, Veterinarians] need to be investigated. How any of you sleep at night is beyond unfathomable. I cannot even begin to count how many families I witnessed distraught saying goodbye to their pets within the short time I spent there. Please advocate for your pet — they need you. These Veterinarians just expect you to believe what they give you and for you to walk away without your pet. All surrounding animal agencies I have spoken with have confirmed the absolute horror of this establishment.

Negative experience: We brought our dog to the Veterinary Medical Center of Central New York on November 5th under critical circumstances — severe edema, difficulty breathing, collapse at home, and fever. We live an hour and 20 minutes away and were terrified but hoped to get the urgent care she needed. She was classified as Level 2 critical care. The reception staff were absolutely outstanding and consistently kind, attentive, and concerned. Unfortunately, the medical care was delayed. She received no medication for hours despite repeated warnings from Dr. Brockway that she could “bleed out.” She also spoke about euthanasia, stating her quality of life may be compromised. We were advised that hospitalization with IV antibiotics and further testing could cost $8,000–$10,000, but we chose to bring her home so our children could say goodbye if needed. We were charged $700 upfront, then $370 later, which was not applied correctly and took 30 minutes to resolve. After four hours, we were approached again for an additional payment of several hundred dollars, while waiting for medication. Throughout the day, we could hear our dog barking continuously, her voice growing hoarse. We were asked to sit with her in an exam room not for comfort but so she would stop barking. After 12.5 hours, she finally received IV antibiotics and was sent home with a week of medication, totaling nearly $1,500. Within two days at home, she was walking, eating, meeting us at the door with a wagging tail and bright eyes. Our local veterinarian has continued her oral antibiotic regimen, and she remains active and happy. We are grateful she survived, but heartbroken at how little care she received during a critical situation. We hope the center reflects on how urgent cases are handled so no other family endures this experience.We truly feel that we were taken advantage of and emotions were plotted against finances.

Fantastic experience: We've been fortunate to have been beinr seen at VMC for nearly 4.5 years treating our sweet Samson's lymphoma. From the very first moment we walked in the door we were greeted by friendly faces. Dr Rassnick and his entire oncology team have worked so hard to care for Samson and have always squeezed him in to their already busy schedule when an emergency has popped up. It's obvious they love what they do and truly love their patients like they are their own family. Because of their knowledge, skill, and compassion we have gotten more time with Samson than we ever thought possible. We cannot thank their team enough.
