They saw her very promptly and gave us efficient affordable care to bring her back to better health. Dr. Spellman's good humor makes for a fun and interesting visit each time. Fantastic experience: Ive had an amazing experience here with my dog marlow! The staff has been amazing as well taking care of my dogs needs and knowing she’s energetic they still find a way to work with her. As for the doctor he has been very informative about our situation with my dog. He gave her antibiotics and some dewormer pills and did amazing thank you so much! Fantastic experience: Monty and Zadie have been coming here since they were 10 weeks old. They are now 3 and 4. I like to bring them for their annuals and maintenance needs such as prevention meds and dental care. They are always available to answer questions or provide guidance. Zadie got pregnant and they don’t do X-rays. I was sad about it but I did bring her puppies for their first shots!

Negative experience: My experience at this clinic with Gianfranco Spellman was extremely disappointing. Honestly, I do not understand how this place has so many positive reviews, because my experience did not match them at all. This was our first visit with my 13-pound poodle. Our appointment was at 9:15 a.m and we arrived at 9:17 a.m. From the moment we walked in, the treatment was rude and unprofessional. He didn’t even say good morning. He immediately took us into a room with a bad attitude, breathing heavily and acting annoyed for no clear reason. The first thing he asked was why we were there. I explained that we now live closer and that our previous veterinarian had already sent over my dog’s records. His reaction was completely inappropriate he became visibly stressed, hit the table, and the entire room felt tense and uncomfortable. This is not the kind of behavior anyone should experience, especially from someone who works with animals. If you truly love your pets, I would not recommend coming here. The environment feels negative, the place looks unclean, and the doctor does not inspire trust at all.I will never return and would not recommend this clinic to anyone. In response to the owner’s reply: This has nothing to do with resentment. This is about basic respect. I walked into your business for the first time with my dog, and the bare minimum any professional especially a veterinarian should do is treat people with courtesy and respect. That was not my experience. The way you chose to respond to a client review speaks for itself. If resentment is being displayed here, it is not on my end. Professionalism and respectful communication are essential in any field, particularly one that works with people and their pets. I am happy with my life, I enjoy my work, and I treat others with respect. The behavior I encountered reflects someone who appears unhappy and possibly working in a profession they no longer find fulfilling. Some self-reflection may be necessary Dr. Spellman.

He takes the time to really understand the tests, is a wonderful handler when administering shots, and provides helpful recommendations for post visit care. Negative experience: 85 dollars is the visitation fee, even for quick follow up appointments. So be wary of booking follow-ups. My dog had a ruptured cyst and it was healing fine after the original visit. But when I took her for the follow-up appointment, the vet literally just looked at it for 30 seconds and said it looked fine. But that was it. $85 bucks for a two-minute appointment.

Everyone on the staff was so sweet and attentive, and the office itself is charming and inviting. Overall, it was a truly positive experience, and I left feeling really grateful to have found such a caring and knowledgeable vet. If I weren’t moving I’d absolutely be coming back!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Spellman’s practice is the best place to go if you are looking for a private practice rather than a chain who only wants to bleed you of your money. He’s good with bigger dogs like mine, his staff is kind, and the clinic is very clean. He remembered my dog and her past visit history, which in my experience doesn’t happen at a lot of vets. Also worth mentioning, you are allowed to be in the room with your animal when he sees them.

Negative experience: today my boss and i went to this clinic,and it was a very bad experience with this doctor.first,we only went in to ask a question and buy some pills.the doctor came out very angry,asking if we had an appoinment,when we were clearly just going to ask something.then the girl at the front desk,helped us and explained to us. after that,this doctor came out and started yelling at my boss,even putting a paper very very close to his face and yelling at him,and telling at him not to argue,even though my boss didn't even open his mouth.them its was a bad experience,and we were shocked because we didn't go with a bad attitude or acting upset

Fantastic experience: We’ve brought our dog to Dr. Spellman twice so far for his long-term allergy issues. He’s four years old and has always suffered from severe seasonal allergies every summer, needing medication and injections just to stop the itching. Dr. Spellman gave him an injection, prescribed medication, and recommended an anti-itch shampoo and promised to help us find a long-term solution. So far, the results have been amazing! Our dog is finally much more comfortable. We’re so grateful for Dr. Spellman and his assistants’ care, professionalism, and genuine kindness toward our pup. Highly recommend!

The exam, 3 vaccines, blood test, and heartworm medications came to $230 which is so reasonable especially for our first visit. My dog was excited to be there. I can see why his practice has lasted over 50 years.

Negative experience: Unfortunately I did not have a great experience here. For starters, the parking lot is extremely small (2-3 spaces total), and if that’s full you’ll have to park in the back which is essentially a dirt lot which was also crammed. The inside is also extremely crammed and as you go through the rooms, it’s cluttered with bags and cans of food, along with a ton of other items. It looks like someone’s garage. The vet himself is nice enough but is old fashioned and seems very set in his ways. My dog was seen for urinary issues and was prescribed a special food. Over all, my experience was okay but it felt very awkward as there is nowhere for pet owners to sit and there doesn’t seem to be much privacy as the rooms are all adjoining with open doors. I have now moved to south Austin and needed to buy my dog more food, so I went to PetSmart to stock up. Little did I know, and this was also not information shared with me, I needed a prescription card to purchase this. So I called this vet office to see if there was anything to be done because as I mentioned before, I am now about 45 minutes south. I was told by the receptionist that I can only buy the food from their office, which again, was not information I was told the first time around. They were not flexible at all with my situation and didn’t seem empathetic at all. I am a first time dog owner and had I known this at the time, I would have stocked up or gone to another vet office that is more flexible. I was left extremely disappointed and I would not recommend this office at all.

Fantastic experience: Such a nice experience, and so affordable. We just took my dog here for annual examination and vaccinations. The total price was less than 1/2 what our previous vet quoted. We had begun to feel like a number and part of a business model at the previous, it was refreshing to come the Lamar Veternary clinic and get personalized service. They are old fashioned, and just give a paper receipt which was fine with us. Highly recommend!
