Experiencia negativa: I walked into the clinic today to get my cat's cosaquin prescription refilled. A nice lady at the front desk accepted it & advised me to wait to have it filled. I sat and waited for 5 minutes. Another woman, Ashley, returned the empty bottle to me said said it couldn't be filled bc my cat's last appointment was 13 months ago. She refused to schedule an appointment with me. She turned me away & advised me to go to PetCo. Hillcrest animal hospital initially prescribed the cosaquin. Very unprofessional & disrespectful. I've been going here for years & have never had a bad experience.

Experiencia fantástica: I took my pug to hillcrest animal hospital.. And got the pleasure of meeting Dr.long ..he is such an awesome guy:) my pug had eye and nose surgery.. And it went exceptionally well. I took him in for what I thought was a rough play injury to his eye with my other dog.. After examining Frankie, Dr long realized that his situation may need more attention than just some eye drops.. Having his nose widened for easier breathing and his eyes done to prevent any further damage to the eyeballs... From an eye condition , he had that I was not even aware of. He is 9 years old and has always been well cared for.. So I never saw the warning signs, but Doctor Long did.. And thanks to him he probably saved frankie's vision. And believe it or not for 2 surgeries...The price was very very fair..He's just a really cool doctor. Very knowledgeable and compassionate.. and made us feel very comfortable and at ease every step of the way. I called Monday morning after the surgery with a few concerns...And he was there for me at 8:30 in the morning.I was so grateful. I have recommended him to several people in the last few days who have asked about how Frankie is doing .visiting dr. Long is the best thing you can do for your own mental well being and your pet. As for the ladies at the front counter , they are so sweet and very attentive to your needs , your fears and your time. There is sometimes a wait when you call , but when they answer..you are their priority. One thing to remember when visiting this hospital is that they do care even if they are very busy.I recommend being patient with them while they are taking care of other patients.Because it will be well worth the time of you and your pet when your turn comes:)

Experiencia positiva: Dr. Long wasn’t very helpful in answering the questions I had. I had several with this being my first pet as an adult. The response I kept getting was something along the lines of I was overthinking everything. So I even stopped asking questions and resorted to Google. I’m just hoping I’ve found correct answer on “Dr Google”.

Experiencia fantástica: The doctor was very knowledgeable and diagnosed my dog with an uterine infection in less than 5 minutes! The surgery went smoothly and my dog received the best post-op care. The cost of the surgery was a little pricey but was well worth it.

Experiencia fantástica: We have been coming to Hillcrest for our Pets care for many years!! Our Beautiful Border Collie went into kidney failure after a Spay procedure elsewhere. We took her to the Emergency Vet and then to Hillcrest! Dr. Mercer kept a watchful eye on her for many days, and Weeks!! It took a lot of home care as well but she was eventually a happy healthy Girl. Cancer eventually took her away from us so we rescued 2 dogs & they too are under the care of Hillcrest & Dr. Hall as Dr. Mercer retired. Rest assured your babies will be well taken care of by everyone you meet at Hillcrest. Say hello to Jamie at the front desk when you arrive!!!

Experiencia negativa: Have several pets care for with Hillcrest Animal Hospital for several years. I will now look for a different place to have my pets care for. They are very rude and unprofessional especially the front office. Difinetly need retraining with customers. I would not recommend this place. Take your pets elsewhere.

Experiencia negativa: Worst place to take your pet to get looked at when they are sick. Took my dog to see them and they didn't give him the proper medicine. He is now dead I do blame them don't take ur pets there. They r out for the money not the pets. And for ur information ur vet should have offered antibiotics to my pet back in August but he didn't so u r at fault. I will never bring another pet to ur company. I don't care what u people say. U blamed me a d all the blame is on u now my pet is no longer get with me. Nothing u say will change my mind. Ur employees have no right to blame me and I never said I would bring him in. I didn't agreed to that. What happened to the employees helping people out for their pet when they have no money. Well u guys r 'COOPERATE " company so u r out for the money plain and simple. U have no compassion for anyone u just put the blame game on the owner so u don't feel guilty, pretty sad. I hope u go out of business for good.

Experiencia negativa: Got bite exams done and follows county rules and this vet neglected go have the vet sign the paperwork and so because of that I have to pay a fine of $10,000 because they messed up. I will be contacting a lawyer 2025 Edit Had a family dog go in for normal check in and had his teeth checked. Was given meds and no antibiotics told they would just "fall out" even though they saw the decay. Two weeks ago we called asking for advice to treat our dog due to his declining state and we couldn't afford the outragious emergency fee just to get him seen. we were told " we will get back to you" We called again in urgency still told " someone will call you" Two days later no call. He passed away. I remember when they were more concerned about their pet patients. Someone gave advice right away regardless, even the vets used to work with our budgets. Now because of greed and neglect they had the audacity to tell us that it was our fault for not calling. And yea a appointment was offered for an outrageous amount of money cuz it was an "emergency '

Experiencia negativa: Took my dogs for a wellness visit today I specifically asked for Dr Long when making my appointment as he is more knowledgeable and knows about my dogs. To my surprise I was scheduled with Dr Hall and although she is nice I feel like all I should of paid for was the shots mainly because when I addressed some concerns she said absolutely nothing and I wasn’t even asked if I had any concerns. I was not pleased they should tell you who you’re being scheduled with. This is nothing personal the doctors are all friendly but I do prefer only Dr Long even though I’ve only been there a few times I don’t ever leave questioning anything

Experiencia fantástica: I absolutely love these ladies at hillcrest. Always helpful and they even sometimes try to squeeze you in even if it makes their day a bit more difficult. The vets are very good at communicating whats going on and what all can be done ect (ive overheard some veeery patient veterinarians explain things to people sometimes 2 or 3 times till they understood, not something i could do) and the cherry on top is when even the front desk ladies remember your pets. Even if it wasent so close to me i would go out of my way to make them the place i take my cats.

We were treated horribly and had a bogus diagnosis for our dog at another vet, (belvidere family pet hospital) they 100% put our dogs life in jeopardy!! we came straight here and were taken care of with no problems. Our dog was in surgery right away. They did an amazing job!

Experiencia negativa: Just want to say I'm very disappointed in what occurred yesterday. yesterday my two cats were brought in to be neutered from what I thought was a very common procedure with no worries but sad to say I only left with one I was told by Hillcrest staff that everything that could have been done was done I'm just lost for words for the fact that my cat Tigger had to die over a simple procedure telling my 6-year-old daughter was the hardest thing to do for the fact that she received that cat and twiddledee to help her through her loss of her biological mother passing away. I Will Not be coming back here again and don't recommend it if you love your pets

Make sure you call in advance for appointments on vaccinations or other routine check ups because they can be booked up at times. Experiencia fantástica: I've been to other vet offices and most of them are just not good. Yes, it's hard to get in sometimes but that's the unfortunate reality of every vet clinic. I always appreciate Hilcrest for treating our fur babies, and also working with emergency visits when something happens. Staff is attentive and even when they are all super busy, they do you their best for everyone there and I never feel rushed. Dr Hall is the vet I always ask for, she is amazing. All in all my whole family has been using Hilcrest since I was a kid in the 90s, and we were always pleased with them. Through changes and ups and downs with the way things have changed post covid, I do always feel like they are earnestly doing their best :)

The vet techs are also very efficient, and I feel they care about my pets. All the Vets are amazing. We have had emergencies and they made room for us to come in!!! I wouldn't go anywhere else!!!

Experiencia fantástica: They are very kind and understanding. They are very informative and friendly as well. It's been the only veterinarian office I've taken my pets to in the 23 years I've lived in Rockford and I don't plan on changing the vet clinic I take my pets to.
Experiencia negativa: I couldn’t catch my cat today and called 15 minutes before the appointment asking if I could be late because my husband was coming from out of town to get the cat for me. I was informed that they could not help me and fit me in between any other appointments. I know when I was there twice in the last 2 weeks with my other 3 animals, I was early and was taken 5-10 later than my appointment time by the vet assistant and then waited another 10 minutes in the exam room to see the veterinarian. One other animal was waiting in the reception room on each appointment. I did not find the staff accommodating. Less than a year ago, they would have been understanding and have me come. I never had a situation like this before with my cat, Rocky. (We are a longtime family of over 17 years and have never been late or missed an appointment.)

Experiencia negativa: I wish I could give them a 0, my friend been going there for 35 years with her Fur-babies and her German Shepard start bleeding from his rectum, they tried to send her to an emergency room they knew that was closed from 12:00 to 6:00, the dog passed away a couple hours ago, I feel they have NO COMPASSION, our animals are part of our families her fur baby died on her kitchen floor .
First and foremost we are so sorry for your loss. We can assure you that our doctors always make recommendations in the best interest of each pet and that we care very much for every pet that walks through our doors. I know we were unable to work Duke into our schedule and it was recommended to go to East Dundee Emergency Hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately we only had one doctor on staff and limited availability. Please have Lois called if she would like to discuss further.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr Long and staff are the best. Always friendly, knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. I would never go to a different Vet. Hillcrest has always taken great care of my parents dogs thru many years and my dog and cat as well. We had to put my fur baby Diva down 3 weeks ago and it was and always is the most difficult decision to make but so humane. Dr Long made it such a peaceful experience. All their staff were so loving and compassionate. We now have a a new fur baby we rescued named Charlie and Dr Long has given him a clean bill of health. I am so Thankful, Grateful and Blessed to have Dr Long and all the Hillcrest staff in my life. They are all EXCEPTIONAL!!❤️❤️❤️

Experiencia negativa: Worst place to take your animals. My sister and I both called to find out the price of spay/neutering kittens that I found. We were told $80 each, that I needed to put down a deposit and schedule a wellness check to make sure they are up to date on vaccines and healthy enough for the spay/neuter. We both ask SPECIFICALLY for the price of the spay/neuter to compare to other vets since these are found kittens and we wanted to do the right thing. Well we had they spayed and neutered, went to pick them up and given a $600 bill….for 2 small 4 lbs kittens. When we both told the staff about receiving information stating the price was $80 per kitten, the staff because rude, dug their heels in, and said that our information was wrong. They are not will to offer any sort of compensation or work with us since this is THEIR mistake. If feel we were scammed and baited and switched and now this vets office expects us to sweep it under the rug and pay this astronomical bill when we were told a different price. Avoid this vet office at all cost if you don’t want to be scammed.
Experiencia negativa: I've been taking my dog to Hillcrest Animal Hospital ever since she's been born getting all the shots and vaccinations that were available then all of a sudden my dog got diagnosed from an x-ray no blood test no stool test no nothing an x-ray for $190 they did not offer me a copy of the X-ray or nothing then prescribed a medication for another 120 dollars can anybody contact me and help me understand this or take a look at my dog they didn't take her temperature didn't look at her ears nothing everyone I talked to said that can't be right there's some negligence there I'd appreciate if anybody can let me know what agency or number to call to report this and have it looked into I'm up with her now and I hope she makes it till morning I wouldn't wish this on anyone

Experiencia negativa: Consistently having me make appointments, telling me that there could be something very life threatening going on with my dog which is incredibly stress inducing to hear, just to have me spend in total 374$ to say that everything is fine anyways. I will unfortunately be going to a new vet from now on, I cannot afford to dump money into anymore "we aren't really sure" sentiments. Other than that, the staff is at least very friendly.

Experiencia fantástica: My cat, a rescue, starting getting a hot spot April 2022. I tried things like prescription and over-the-counter creams, but she would lick them off and continue to scratch the hot spot on her leg as well as other parts of her body. I ended up putting her in an e-collar and pet shirt, which helped but still did not completely prevent her from scratching herself to the point of bleeding. There were times that the wound would heal for a bit, but then she would scratch it all over again, especially after I took off the cone and shirt. So, I would put her back into the e-collar and shirt. It was a frustrating, never-ending cycle for over a year. Due to financial constraints, I couldn't keep taking her to the vet every few weeks. Dr. Hall figured out that my cat has a sensitivity to mites and prescribed Credelio (~$20/mo). About 2 months into the treatment, she stopped scratching herself and her wound started healing. At the last appointment, Dr. Hall suggested that I try leaving the cone and shirt off and give her a bath. It's been 2 days and my cat has not scratched herself! Thank you, Dr. Hall! Experiencia fantástica: My senior cat was not eating for a few days after vomiting. I was so worried. Called Hillcrest, they got her in right away. They gave us meds and she still didn't want to eat. So called Hillcrest and the doctor called us back as soon as she got in. In the meantime, Blondie started eating! I was so relieved and very appreciative of the great and prompt care and follow-up she got at Hillcrest. Blondie is now back to her normal self.

Experiencia fantástica: I give it 5 stars because the People that work here and how they care about your animals . I've been going here for 18 years. Since the corporate people took over they were the most affordable and easy to get my fur babies in without an appointment. Prices are absolutely high, I'm not talking inflation high but greed high. My pet is sick now not in 2 weeks. Normal visits are 75 dollars plus test that's not to bad. However if you want your sick animal seen before 2 weeks the visit is 100 dollars. Heck you can goto the emergency place for that and I still go because I love my dog. I can't say enough about the front people and the Vet technician's, wonderful people. The veterinarians for the most part are really great trying to keep my hand issue I'm just confused sometimes when they don't know what the problem is and charge you again for another visit when they never figured out what was wrong with your animal in the first place. Then we paid for the x-rays and the blood test and everything else and pay more for guessing pill game. Overall they care but don't know and charge you for pills that didn't work then more pills and so on but you can't get a refund on a 50 dollar pill bottle with 1 missing. Still until I find a place that's owned by a Veterinarian and not a Corporation. I will still continue to go to this place by the way the vet tech today did a great job on my dog's anal glands thank you like you always do.

I've been in the medical world over 30 years if a person a child pet is crying so loud the tech is pantomime the discharge instructions The instructions . ANYONE Would at least look. The instructions were ridiculous. COMMON SENSE. 3 different vets looked at My fur baby all 3 had different advice. Common sense says maybe I should read what the other docs say. My 9 year old lab has to go through another surgery.
