Standiford Veterinary Center: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: I had to take my kitten in on a Sunday as she had torn out her stitches from being spayed 2 days before. I got there early with hardly anyone there but was still told it would be at least 2 hours. Some emergencies came in and delayed out the wait longer. Not thrilled with waiting, but it was weekend emergency and I understand they have to triage. When they did get her in, Dr Hundal was very nice and patient with me. He calmly explained what the situation was and what they wanted to do. The nurse (I cannot remember her name) was also very nice and comforting. The front office staff was also very nice and professional. In a situation where I was stressed and did not want to be there, they took care of my kitty with much care and my gratitude. Very appreciative, thanks!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this. We are so happy that we could be here for you and Kiko. I will pass this review on to Dr. Hundal and the technical staff that was on duty that day. This review means a lot to us!!
Experiencia fantástica: Unfortunately our dog got hit by a car, and after entering they confirmed he didnt make it. The staff was so kind and considerate durning this hard time. We were allowed to occupy the room for as long as we needed to say goodbye. They gently gave us our options for what we wanted to do next, they never rushed us. The cherry on top was a week later the staff sent a sweet condolence card and all the staff signed. This is the only place we will take our fur babies.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We are deeply sorry for your loss and are grateful you felt supported during such a difficult time.
Please know we are always here for you and your family whenever you need us
Experiencia fantástica: All personal were extremely helpful. They explained all the details of what was needed for my little friend Leo. Will definitely trust them again for my pets needs.
Experiencia fantástica: It's not often that I leave a review for any business but I brought my little dog Ted in because he had been panting and shaking for over 2-3 hours and although he had heart issues in the past this was definitely an emergency. I arrived at the facility at about 11 pm and the staff greeted me and took my little dog in for exam. They quickly assessed that he was in very critical condition and his heart was failing so they advised me on options. Dr. Julie and Nicole were so kind and compassionate and i had to make the decision to let my dog go and they helped my little dog pass with dignity and safety during such an emotional time for me as that was not a decision I had expected to make. Thank you for your kindness, compassionate care and support to me and my little dog Ted. I won't forget it and I highly recommend this clinic for any care you may need for your pets.
Jennifer,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. We are truly sorry for the loss of Ted. Making that decision is never easy, especially when it comes so unexpectedly.
We’re grateful that Dr. Julie and Nicole were able to support you with compassion and help Ted pass peacefully and with dignity. It means a great deal to us that you trusted us during such a heartbreaking moment.
Please know our thoughts are with you.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog had given birth about month ago,a week later she developed milk poisoning,I couldn't find a Tracy emergency vet,we had to drive to this place, the staff/crew had saved her life,we literally had minutes. They saved her life. Thank You so very much mom is doing well we are bottle feeding the puppies. They are doing great. Thank you so very much from Lucky that's her name...
Kristina, we’re so glad Lucky is doing well. We understand how traumatic emergencies can be and we’re thankful we could be there for you. Thank you for posting the pictures. She is so cute!!!
Experiencia negativa: Brought in my cat who had for 3 days been lethargic and hadn't been drinking or eating. Sat there for four and a half hours without being seen (not even for assessment let alone treatment). Besides serving everyone who was there before me, they kept moving people who came in after me ahead of me because in their judgment those cases were bigger emergencies. I want to reiterate that they didn't even examine my cat so I don't know on what they based their conclusion that these other patients were more critical (they could have at least done an assessment before making those judgment calls). In the end I left, and I wasnt even the only one who ended up leaving without assessment or treatment. I will never go back to this place again. For my 4.5 hrs of waiting I got a $25 cardboard pet carrier.
Hi James,
We’re very sorry for how stressful and frustrating your experience was, especially when you were concerned about your cat. Emergency hospitals must see patients based on medical triage rather than arrival time, and during busy periods this can unfortunately lead to long waits. We understand how upsetting that can feel from the waiting area, and we regret that you left before your cat could be examined. We truly wish you and your cat the best and hope they’re doing well.
Experiencia negativa: Horrendous experience. I should have looked at the rating before going in. Also notice they only reply to positive reviews so clearly they don’t care. Wasted most of my day there today. Won’t be headed back. So bad. Unprofessional and rip off!
Mr. Gardner
We’re sorry to hear about your experience. This is not how our staff or the doctor on duty remembers this interaction, which was challenging, but handled according to our usual standards. We always aim to provide professional, thorough care, and we regret that you felt your visit did not reflect that. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns further—please reach out to us directly at 209-577-3481
Experiencia fantástica: I have been taking my pets to SVC for several years now. From a critical feline emergency to routine canine care, I am impressed with the care and professionalism of the staff at SVC. I especially am impressed with Dr. Reese. She is very thorough, ensures your complete understanding of the pros and cons of treatment programs and does not rush the consult. The admin staff (front end)are are friendly, welcoming. My fur baby is anxious and I choose to keep her in the car until a treatment room is available. The staff is most accommodating and the process is very smooth and orderly. Overall impressed with SVC's professionalism, courtesy, friendliness and overall compassion for our pets.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for trusting SVC with your pets over the years. We’re so glad to hear that you’ve had positive experiences with our team, and we’ll be sure to share your feedback with Dr. Reece and our staff. It truly means a lot to us that you feel supported and cared for.
Experiencia negativa: This is very unfriendly people! And I drop my pet at 6:00pm and they do not have clue any thing about it until 10:36pm ! And now they claim that they are waiting for radiology report! If your pet needs any immediate response!
Experiencia negativa: They just care about the money and they make you waste all day they are slow. Go to Sisk hospital instead way better service and care! Reasonable cost too
Dear Alejandra,
We’re sorry to hear that this was your perception of the experience. Veterinary medicine is not about making money—it’s about providing thorough, ethical, and medically appropriate care for each patient. Sometimes that means taking the necessary time to ensure accuracy, safety, and proper treatment, which can feel slow but is never intended to waste anyone’s day.
We respect every client’s choice in selecting the facility that best fits their needs and appreciate the opportunity to care for those who place their trust in us
Experiencia fantástica: My dog got transferred to this hospital from OVG for monitoring and ICU care after having surgery at OVG. She was in there from Friday night to sunday afternoon. This hospital was actually amazing! They took great care of my dog who is my everything and was very nice and very communicative! My dog is very anxious and I am very anxious when it comes to the care of her. They really helped me during this hard time and accepted every call and let me visit, and really answered all my questions and put my anxiety to rest. From the front desk staff, to the doctors, to the techs. They all were so nice, so respectful and again just really helped me. Doctor Schacher and Doctor Sorensen were amazing! Dr. Schacher was with her during the day and Dr. Sorensen at night in the ICU. They were honestly so amazing! They called me to update me, they answered every question when I would visit and call, they just went above and beyond and really helped my dog and me get through this!! Eventhough my experience didnt start as an emergency with them if I ever had one and my regular vet isn't open id instantly go to them! They did great and I cant thank them enough for everything! THANK YOU! From the bottom of my heart! My girl is doing great and doing so much better!
Experiencia negativa: i waited an hour on hold after they were unable to service my cat, just to be told the vet techs do not know basic information or communication. i was also charged twice for a procedure my cat did not receive.
Experiencia fantástica: One of the best places to take your lil baby! I absolutely love Dr. Basra (forgive me for potentially misspelling your name) he helped us so much with our dogs eye surgery. Me and my sister owe so much to this wonderful place. We will keep coming here !
Experiencia fantástica: I take my cats and dogs here amazing staff they truly care about your fur babies I highly recommend them
Vince. Thank you so much for this. We appreciate you taking the time out of your day to leave us such a nice review!!!
Experiencia negativa: I brought my dog in on Saturday evening, 1/3/26, with a nose hemorrhage. The vet, Zac Albudri, was incredibly insensitive from the moment he walked in. He immediately began boasting about his own accolades and even talked about his wife’s accomplishments, all while my dog was in crisis. His demeanor was arrogant and cocky. He accused both me and my regular vet of not doing something prior to this medical event, and when he finally stopped talking about himself long enough for me to give some history, he criticized the course of action we had taken. He told us we needed to make a decision, then abruptly left the room. I asked for him to come back so we could have a calmer, more human conversation, but his arrogance continued to overshadow everything. It made an already devastating decision—to euthanize my dog—so much more traumatic. As he euthanized him he was saying things as though he was reading a script. I’m now left trying to block him out of my baby’s final moments. The only positive part of this experience was the compassion shown by the vet techs.
Experiencia negativa: Terrible attendance/service. A 3 Hour long wait for a similar situation other pet owners had coming in, for sure there's a "favorites" kind of vibe in that place, not good for business. They would like to back it up by saying " we're just waiting for openings available", but Contradict themselves as soon as a lighter skin walked in with a lesser issue. Their smiles and smirks from behind the counter while quickly glancing over at us doesn't help them on their part. I'm just looking over at some the other similar reviews on this as well and it's relatable. Will not be coming back.
Experiencia negativa: Was quoted 15k for 5 night stay. My dog stayed one night charged 6k my dogs dead and the girl smirked about giving me my dog dead dont go here. It hilarious when your dog dies and you paid 6k for one night to give you your dog dead like they did you a favor. To go ahead and smirk in your face is horrible. To be told you should come in the evening time to visit your dog because of treatments is a lie ad well. Trust and Believe Come when you want because your pet may not be alive.
Serita, We take concerns like this very seriously and are truly sorry for your experience and loss. At this time, we are unfortunately unable to locate an account that matches the details provided. We would sincerely appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly so we can better understand and address your concerns. Please contact Standiford's practice manager Joe at 209-577-3481 ext. 114
Experiencia negativa: Do not recommend. Zero stars. Will be going elsewhere, and will not be returning. All this place cares about is money. They will charge you for things you do not need before they even do tests to see if your animals needs it. They do not care about the animals. I also did not like that they made sure to keep my pet away from me the entire time during the "consultation" and "examination" until after I paid for the so called practices. Very suspicious.
Andrea,
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry your experience did not meet expectations.
For clarity, we do require payment authorization before diagnostics or treatment are performed. This is standard in urgent and emergency care and allows our team to proceed without delays. All recommendations are based on the doctor’s medical assessment and the pet’s needs.
Pets are often examined in our treatment area for safety and efficiency, not for secrecy. We respectfully disagree that our team does not care about animals, as patient care is always our top priority. We wish you and your pet the best.
Experiencia fantástica: We had to take a dog from our rescue to the vet. He had glaucoma in both eyes and a failing liver. He was in a tremendous amount of pain so we chose to let him go. The doctor that came in was amazing. He was one of the calmest most emphathetic doctors I have ever seen. He explained everything so well and was incredibly kind. I almost don’t have enough words to say how much I appreciated him today. Coco wasn’t my dog, but I went to be with him so he wouldn’t be alone crossing the bridge. I don’t remember the doctors name. I just want to acknowledge what an amazing doctor he is.
Joy,
Thank you so much for sharing this and for being there with Coco to offer him comfort and companionship during his final moments. We’re truly sorry for his condition, but grateful you felt supported during such a difficult moment.
We’re very glad to hear how calm, compassionate, and kind the doctor was, and we will be sure to share your words with our team so he knows how much his care meant.
Experiencia negativa: I asked them to please make sure my cat was comfortable while being put down, since we weren’t allowed to be in the room due to the good-Samaritan policy. The staff member just said “it’s quick.” We were crying over having to make an emergency end-of-life decision, and the front desk was being loud, laughing, and joking around right in front of us.
Experiencia fantástica: Always good service Compassionate, friendly and respectful This veterinary clinic does wants needed and doesn’t do more then necessary
Pamela, Thank you so much for this very kind review. We truly appreciate your trust and are grateful for the opportunity to care for you and your pet.
Experiencia fantástica: The day I came into Standiford Veterinary with my cat Pebbles who wasn't feeling well, I received a warm greeted from the staff at the reception area. They were friendly and helpful when I had questions in-regards to Pebbles. When I was brought into the exam room with Pebbles, the staff and Dr. Lepiz was very nice and showed so much compassion towards my cat. I would highly recommend Standiford Veterinary to my family and friends.
Theresa, Thank you for sharing your experience! We hope that Pebbles is feeling much better.
Dr. Lepiz and our staff also saw your review and they truly appreciated your kind words. Thank you for trusting us with Pebbles and for recommending us to your friends and family.
Experiencia negativa: My dog recently had an ear hematoma drained and we returned three days later for her recheck. After paying $1,200 for the initial procedure, the staff informed me she would need new bandages and would have to be sedated again, costing another $460. I told them I couldn’t pay that today, and they responded by saying it wasn’t life-threatening and that if it got worse I could bring her back. Then they handed my dog back to me in a condition that was honestly unacceptable. Thank God my wife and I are competent enough to wrap her ear properly ourselves — with a $3 bandage, no sedation needed. The fact that we could do a clean, secure wrap at home makes me question why they insisted on sedation and hundreds more in charges. I’m extremely disappointed with how this was handled and the lack of care shown once I declined the extra fees. Pet owners deserve transparency, compassion, and basic respect — especially after already paying for surgery.
Andrew. Thank you for this review and I so apologize for your negative experience. I sent you a text and we would love to make this right. Please reach out to me via our text message or you can call me directly at 209-577-3481-Sincerely, Joe-Practice Manager
Experiencia fantástica: Candice was kind and very informative. She has a sunny disposition and extremely helpful. Great job Candice. Thank You

Experiencia fantástica: I love this place! Dr J. Conner is the best! He has seen my girl recently. Answered all my questions made me feel like he was treating just us knowingly he had multiple patients. The staff is always friendly and professional. They handle business and treating people with respect, compassion and empathy. We sometimes get emotional when our fur babies are sick and hurt but they are always there to support us through the good times and the bad. So Happy for this place and team! Highly recommend Bringing your fur baby here!
Thank you so much for taking the time to give us this heartfelt review. We are so glad to be here for you and your fur baby. I personally gave this review to Dr. Conner and he was touched-knowing he was able to make you feel comfortable and heard made him really happy.
Experiencia fantástica: Exceptional Care That Truly Made a Difference — Grateful for Dr. Connor & This Clinic Our family brought in my son and daughter-in-law’s one-year-old golden retriever, Bogey, last night for a follow-up visit after a terrifying rattlesnake bite on Saturday. This was our third vet visit in just a few days, and by the time we walked through the doors of this clinic, we were emotionally exhausted and honestly shaken by what we had been through. I drove in from the Lake Tahoe area to help while my adult kids were working — I can work from anywhere, and I wanted to be here to support Bogey’s recovery. Thank God I did, because what we discovered was alarming. The first clinic we visited nearly cost Bogey his life. Despite believing they had controlled the venom, they sent him home far too early. The next day we learned the venom had spread through over 80% of his body, and Bogey was in far worse condition than anyone realized. We have pet insurance — cost was not the issue — but the quality of care and lack of urgency were deeply concerning. Even more troubling, when my son — who is almost 30, a firefighter, and not someone who panics easily — rushed Bogey back for immediate care, the clinic turned him away because they were “too busy.” This was a rattlesnake bite. Time is everything. They told him to drive nearly 30 minutes away to another vet and promised to send Bogey’s medical records ahead so the next clinic would be prepared. They never sent them. Maybe they got busy. Maybe they forgot. But while they forgot, the clock was ticking — and our dog’s life was on the line. By the time we got to the second clinic, we were essentially starting over. And then… we came here. And everything changed. The primary doctor at this clinic set the tone immediately — kind, attentive, thorough, and calm. It was the first time in 48 hours that we felt heard. Last night’s follow-up with Dr. Connor was exceptional. He spent real time with us, walked through Bogey’s long-term prognosis, and answered every question thoughtfully. He didn’t talk over us. He didn’t rush us. He didn’t dismiss our concerns. He was present, compassionate, and fully engaged — the kind of provider every pet owner prays for in a crisis. He had no idea what I do for a living, but I’ll say this sincerely: If more medical and dental practices communicated the way Dr. Connor does, I might not even have a business. His level of clarity, empathy, and professionalism is rare. I would trust him — and this clinic’s primary doctor — with any of our four family pets, without hesitation. In short: The first clinic failed us. This clinic saved us. And Dr. Connor gave us something we hadn’t had in days: peace of mind. Thank you, Dr. Connor, for your exceptional care, your patience, and your genuine compassion. Bogey is still healing, but because of you, we finally feel hopeful. Highly, highly recommend.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this, and for trusting us with Bogey during such a frightening situation. Reading what your family had already been through before walking through our doors… our whole team felt it.
Bogey is such a sweet boy, and we’re truly glad we were able to give all of you a little bit of calm in the middle of a lot of chaos. Dr. Connor cares deeply about the families he works with, and your words mean so much to him
Thank you again for the kindness, the detail, and the honesty in your review. We’re all rooting for Bogey as he continues to heal, and we’re here anytime you need us.
Experiencia negativa: I hope, I can give them zero, very rude staff, very expensive, after stay with dog more than 4 hrs, did it nothing, charge expensive money for medicine. Dr just came to talk us less than 5 minutes. I hope I never go back on this place, god never make sick my dog.
Dear Baljeet, We are so sorry to hear about your negative experience with us. I would be happy to discuss this with you but cannot seem to find you in our system. Please feel free to reach out to us directly 209-577-3481
Experiencia fantástica: Took a poor stray kitten that was hurt and they took the kitten in. So thankfully they were able to take this baby! Sucks seeing so many stray cats around my area and unfortunately this baby was one to get hurt thank you guys!
Experiencia fantástica: I wrote a terrible review 2.5 years ago, because our rescue dog from Mexico got cut open when she was already spayed I've always been genuine enough to admit when things are right or wrong. I swore I'd never come back to Standiford Vet Clinic, but two if our rescue dogs got attacked by a coyote and thank God Standiford Vet Clinic was open 24/7. One of the dogs was on his death bed, and I was literally driving 99mph (governed diesel pickup) to get to the vet as our dog was fighting for his life. My entire way there, I was worried they'd have us blacklisted for the bad review I posted 2.5 years ago, but I was wrong, and they welcomed us with open arms and got our baby in immediately, and after 3 days of ICU, he's showing improvement. Dr. Zack is amazing with his love for animals, and our little boy Panchito, and the rest of the staff has treated us sooo well. I was so upset with our first experience, but this experience has wiped away all of those fears. Thank you so much for your love and attention to our two dogs that got attacked by coyotes!!
Experiencia negativa: Earlier in the year I took my 1-year-old cat to (pet hospital) after he fell from the roof and suffered a hairline pelvic fracture. Dr. Shannon Snook initially seemed kind and quoted us around $5,000 for an overnight stay. She mentioned he was not in critical health and just in shock. When we asked about alternative actions due to the lack of money. she stated. “No, this is a business” and scoffed. She continued to grow aggressive and visibly annoyed when we kept asking for an alternative. We asked about taking our cat home with pain medication instead, her attitude changed to more aggressive and she pushed euthanizing him since we couldn’t afford hospitalization. AFTER, she mentioned he was not in critical health and needed pain medication and to stay warm. After several hours of going back and forth, the vet finally gave us a AMA form (against medical advise form) so we could sign since we did not want to keep him at the vet give him another pain injection or euthanize him. we were finally allowed to take our cat home but they continued to tell us the vet was taking her time and we mentioned again that we denied any further treatment and we were just going to take the pain medication home. Soon, the tech walks us into the room and mentioned our cat had passed after the second pain injection. The injection WE DENIED. I’m devastated and deeply concerned about how this situation was handled. Please be cautious and make sure to ask detailed questions about treatment options and medication dosages if you visit this clinic
Experiencia negativa: I’m honestly at a loss for words with how terrible this place is. My pet, who’s usually active and loves jumping around, suddenly started staying inside and acting strange. Concerned, we decided to take him here. The emergency visit alone cost $180, which is steep but fine — we expected quality care in return. Instead, we waited eight hours just for him to be released. From the very start, we told them he seemed hurt on his rear side. When the doctor finally came out, they told us it was just a fever — nothing more. Then they quoted $1,100 for further testing and medication: around $400–500 for diagnosis and $600 for meds. That’s outrageous, especially since we already mentioned where he was hurting. It feels like they barely examined him at all — maybe just took his temperature. When we got home, not even 30 minutes later, we noticed an obvious abscess on the same leg we pointed out and saw that he was limping badly. We immediately called back, and they told us we’d still need to pay the rest of the original bill, even though their diagnosis was clearly wrong. We paid hundreds for a completely missed diagnosis. This place is an absolute joke — overpriced, careless, and lacking any real empathy or compassion for animals. I wouldn’t recommend anyone trust them with their pets.
Experiencia negativa: Wow, I’m at a lost of words for how Fing terrible this place is. My pet was feeling unwell and acting abnormal, and he is a pet that likes to go outside and jump from place to place in the house. However, we started to notice two days ago that he stayed inside the house all day. So we take him to this god awful place. An emergency check up is 180$!!! Insane but we were expecting it to be at least worthwhile for the money. Nope, we wait a total of eight hours for him to be released, but that’s not all. We had told them from the beginning that he looked hurt on his rear side. The doctor came out and just told us that he had a fever and that’s all nothing else. Then they it was 1100$ bucks just to get a more in depth diagnosis and some meds, like what are you sayingggggg. We already played 180$ for that and extra four to five hundred bucks was for the diagnosis. 600$ for medication. Keep in mind we informed them prior to the original diagnosis that he was having pains in his left rear leg, yet we feel as though they didn’t even check his body and just took a tempature. No efforts were made to even acknowledge that there is a whole abscess on the location where we told them about and some he was in his carrier on the way out we were unable to see that. We see the abscess and his limping when got home not even 30 minutes after. We give a call back and say that we must pay off the rest of the original bill since we had at first believed it was just a fever when it was way more serious. WASTED MY MONEY ON A WRONG DIAGNOSTIC. This place is laughable. The people here lack empathy and humility.
Experiencia fantástica: Everybody was really caring and made me feel like I was well educated on my dog's problems.
Experiencia fantástica: We brought our very sick 4 year old Frenchie Mia to the Vet hospital when we noticed blood in her stool. As you can imagine, we were distressed and very concerned for her, not knowing what was going on with her. After her evaluation and blood work, we found out that she had a severe infection in her intestines which required her to be hospitalized over night with IVs of medication and antibiotics. It's very discouraging to feel so helpless and not knowing the outcome for your pet. But the care and continuous updates from the caregivers at this hospital kept us informed of everything that was going on with Mia from later that evening and early the next morning until the following evening, which made us feel at ease knowing that she was being taken care of and responding to the treatment as Dr. Schaecher said she would. We were sent home with medication for Mia, all of our questions and concerns were resolved. We even received follow up phone calls from the Dr. to see how she was doing at home and again, to answer any questions that we had. We ended switching Mia to this office as her full time Vet. They showed us that they will take care of our pet as they would their own. That is the kind of treatment anyone would want for their pet. Oh, and two weeks later, Mia is back to her old self again with no more symptoms. I will recommend them to all of my friends and family.
Experiencia negativa: I took my new kitten here and was told he most likely had FIP and was likely to succumb to this disease. $700+ dollars and heartbreak later thinking I would have to put him down. I got a second opinion in Turlock (for only $100 he was seen and received medicine) He just had a normal eye infection and the medicine Standiford sent me home with wasn’t even to treat his eyes... NEVER GO HERE!!!!
Experiencia fantástica: Helped my dog through some hard times. He's now doing better. The vet seems to really care about about my dog , he's also my friend
Experiencia negativa: I would like to start this off by saying the staff was very very sweet and with how stressed I was very caring about the situation. But that being said my dog went in for bloody stools, initially with the intake forms and talking to the vet tech I mentioned multiple times that he has gone through this situation once before and what I felt helped best was giving him lots of fluids. He was taken in and they started 1l, as much as it was probably a bother to them I called every couple hours when I was not there to check in, every time asking about fluids and a couple times they confirmed he was on the IV. I was told to bring in chicken and they were very happy to let me feed him in one of the offices. He ended up being released 3 days later for eating "better" 3 hours after getting him home he was EXTREMELY lethargic, so I went back to get him back to see the vet. When in the very full waiting room he started winning in pain and leaking blood again i decided i couldn't wait the 3+ hours again to get him to be seen and started to drive to UC Davis. When getting to the next hospital talking to the vets there they were appalled by their treatment plan. He was given appetite stimulants which does nothing but suppress the true issue, he was given only 2L of fluid over the 72+ hours he was there, and was given 2 other medications that were unnecessary. After UC Davis got him into good health and I was able to sleep for the first time in 4+ days I finally read the bill for staniford, in the description for his treatment plan described as needing "intensive course of action" but the chicken I was told I should bring in and fed him myself I was charged 15+ dollars for every time I fed him because they Weren't able to get him to eat. Also this might be not bad necessarily but kinda is on track if I should have expected this, there were multiple vet techs referring to my dog as she when he's definitely a male and I put on his for that he's a boy. Long story short I feel like I was preyed on due to my emotional state, being taken advantage of for thousands and my boy still was hanging on by a thread at the end of it all. Please let my experience be a lesson to anyone who will listen. Just go to UC Davis, it's worth the 2 extra hours. My experience was mid August
Experiencia negativa: Well I had to put my dog down, and idk I kinda feel they we're more worried about getting their money then about my dog. The girl who took my payment was rude, I mean come on, u should treat people better when they are going through a loss of their fur baby. She was very short and just was...not very nice in our time of need...U know most vets light a can when people are putting their dogs down so other people know ...they need to do that
Experiencia fantástica: Waiting time was a little bit long increased our anxiety and nervousness, but Dr. J. Conner gave a super professional evaluation and caring my pet , COOKIE. Their staff also were very kind and professional. Thanks all of them, Cooking is recovering very well.
Experiencia negativa: After waiting 5 minutes on hold to make an appointment for a simple rabies vaccine for my dog that’s been there before, I was told I could not make an appointment for my dog because he was listed under my ex wife’s phone number. I am not authorized to get him his medical needs. What happened to common sense!? God knows she isn’t going to pay for it! What a joke!!!
Mr. Katuszonek, We understand your frustration and are sorry for the inconvenience this caused. However, our hospital must follow the same privacy and confidentiality regulations as human medical facilities. This means that we can only discuss patient information or schedule appointments with individuals who are listed on the account. These guidelines are in place to protect both our patients and clients in accordance with privacy laws similar to HIPAA. We would be happy to assist once the authorized account holder updates the information or grants permission for you to be added.
Experiencia negativa: I brought my dog in because she consumed bleach and was throwing up/foaming out the mouth. They didn’t immediately take her in and wanted me to talk to poison control and fill out paperwork. I was waiting 40 minutes for them to take her and they did not. It wasn’t until I decided to get up and LEAVE that they wanted to attend my dog. I left to a DIFFERENT vet and they immediately took her in and started treating her right away. Terrible place, I’m never bringing any of my pets here.
Experiencia negativa: PET OWNER BEWARE!!!! I would give -0 stars if possible. I came here as it was a Sunday and our vet was closed. My dog had been attacked by another dog and had a gaping wound that needed tending to. At 1st they seem legit, kind, helpful. The doctor discussion was short and to the point stating he needed stitches and sedation. We took thier word for it and went through with procedure. 6 hours and $1300 later we brought our pup home. Shortly after being home, the stitches were leaking bodily fluid and blood. This continued to the following day and with the location of wound being under upper part of his tail it also rubbed. We brought him back to express and show them our concerns, they took a 1min glance, in the other room without us and came back saying everything is fi e but let's add another antibiotic (another $86). I again expressed concern about stitches falling out due to moisture from leakage and rubbing when tail wags, they told me not to worry. The next day, 3 stitches fall out, [he has been wearing his cone since coming home btw]. I call them back and send a photo. They want me to bring him back, pay the consultation fee again $170 and receive another estimate for fixing the mistake they made in the 1st place. They took zero accountability ZERO. I hung up, called my vet (which I was not wanting to have to pay for the procedure again) and they got him in. They did everything the other place did and it only cost $350. The stitches have held great and no fluid leakage at all. STANIFORD DID LOUSY WORK ON MY PUP AND TOOK ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE LACKLUST CARE WE RECEIVED. Not to mention they double charge you for things by just naming them different names. BE CAREFUL!!!!
Experiencia negativa: Absolutely horrible experience. I’m shocked to say the least for the vet that took care of my dog. Abel Benedek , is after your money. She was absolutely rude and entitled. She pushed to do a 6k dollar surgery, for my dog when in reality we don’t even know if he needs it. My dog came in and they didn’t even disinfect, clean or put bandages on the cyst that popped on his elbow. Then she was sending our dog home without even giving us antibiotics, until we HAD TO ASK. This is ridiculous and very disappointing. 213$ paid for them To not even to disinfect or clean our dogs bloody cyst. We literally had to go to petco and buy everything ourselves . I’ve had dogs all my life and so far this has been the WORST vet I’ve ever had the experience to deal with.
Experiencia negativa: Lied on the phone about my dying chinchilla being able to be seen. We drove 30 minutes from Manteca and when we got there, we were told the person on the phone never told us to come in, which was a lie.
Experiencia negativa: My dog has a medical emergency and these people denied her treatment or care and their website says will work with your budget that is false the lady at the front desk will tell you no. plus really expensive
Experiencia fantástica: I took my XL Cane Corso, Benji here to be treated for a torn CCL (ACL). Here's what we experienced: Expedient treatment (both emergent and scheduled) Friendly and kind interaction Dedicated and compassionate care Quality clinical and surgical treatment Inquisitive, attentive and highly skilled staff Excellent communication Convenient ancillary services Consideration for costs Support beyond the standard of care While the cost of the services are on the higher end here, the ends absolutely justify the means. I would highly recommend Standiford Veterinary Center for anyone looking for exceptional care.
Experiencia negativa: I definitely don't recommend this veterinary center at all. I called and said i needed my dog who is 4 months old to be taken in as a emergency case. i was told that by the way my dog was acting. it was most likely parvo or rabies which wasn't true. they wanted to test my dog for them which was $154 each and $100 entry fee for a emergency case. then we were told to wait in the car and the assistant would come and look at my dog. waited outside for 40+ minutes not a single person Came out to look at my dog and then a hour later they called saying they were looking for me and my dog. I would give this place a 0 star review if i could. definitely don't take your animals here. I went to another vet clinic and American pet hospital was amazing and gave me the right diagnoses and my dog ate fish bait and now is taking medication for that and everything. While standiford veterinary center thought it was parvo and or rabies standiford veterinary center was focused on money instead of my dog's symptoms. On the other hand American pet hospital didn't care about money and gave my dog a correct diagnoses and only costed $108. While standiford veterinary center was going to end up costing me more than $400 for the wrong diagnoses
Experiencia negativa: There are positives to coming here, 24 hour care, ability to drop off injured strays. The vets and their staff always seem to genuinely care about my animals. Negatives? You never seem to see the same vet twice since their staff is so large, so continuity is a challenge. Cost is a huge issue. Attached is an estimate for between $1090 to $1140 to have my female kitten fixed. I had already paid approximately $400 for full series of vaccinations, wellness exam and microchip. I feel the word insulting is not strong enough. I have to keep them in mind going forward as there is a lack of 24 hour vet care around Modesto in case of emergencies but if I can avoid this vet, I will for my 3 cats and dog. Now I have to find a more affordable vet to get her fixed as soon as possible.
Experiencia fantástica: From the moment the techs came and got my baby queen woods out the car to putting us in a room they were amazing. Putting our baby down was one of the hardest things we had to do. The doctor and lady’s at this office are compassionate and caring I definitely recommend them. I will be switching my other dog over to them for further care.
Experiencia negativa: I recently visited this clinic in an emergency with my pregnant cat. The veterinarian informed me that she had already delivered her kittens and that we needed to proceed with an emergency C-section. They also suggested it would be best if I surrendered my cat, and quoted me a surgery cost between $4,000–$8,000. Something didn’t feel right, so I went to another veterinary hospital for a second opinion. That vet confirmed my cat had not yet delivered, and all of her kittens were still alive. This was extremely alarming, as I almost consented to an unnecessary, high-cost surgery and considered surrendering my cat based on false information. Pet owners trust veterinarians with their animals’ lives, and accuracy and integrity are critical. I am sharing my experience so others can make informed decisions when seeking care for their pets.
Maria, Thank you for you review. I would like to know more about your case but unfortunately I cannot find you in our system. Would you please reach out to let us know the name of your cat so we can look further into this? Thank you, Joe-Practice Manager 209-577-3481
Experiencia negativa: Brought in an abandoned kitten in bad shape, they refused to take it unless I agreed to pay all bills. Definitely not in it for the love of animals.
Experiencia negativa: STOP!!! Do not bring your animal here if you love them for the love of God please do not. My dog almost lost his life due to them and we’re still not sure even today. They do not care about you or your animal. They care about money and money only. I gave them a call an hour and 20 minutes in advance of my arrival with my sick puppy. Charcoal should be administered almost immediately and it is a time sensitive matter. Not only did they have over an hour advance of us being there we waited several hours for them to administer the charcoal. Making my pup even more vulnerable to the situation. They claimed the wait was due to creating an estimate. With that long in advance and estimate should’ve been created at least for the procedure that would save his life immediately and then talk about it later. All they want is your money it’s almost as if they are trying to kill animals. Why would they wait that long? If you’re considering doing your externship there, I’d go elsewhere learn the right way. The moment you choose the lower of the estimate, they will judge you and make you feel horrible for wanting to do the work at home. They will give you the least amount of advice to help you like I said, almost as if they’re trying to kill your animal. Don’t go there.
Experiencia positiva: Was recommended by our vet for overnight care as one of our dogs needed IV fluid and was anemic from the diarrhea. Im pretty sure they saved his life as it could've went south quickly if we waited any longer. They were able to see him quickly. Had to pre-pay for their treatment plan for him. I was updated on his status each test that came back. We were able to bring him home but was recommended to see a specialist. They do get busy and you have to be buzzed into building but I felt the communication was clear. It did help that we had dog insurance. Update: We had an initial plan for immunosuppresant but deviated because of another Dr's recommendation. I didnt care for the other Dr's "treatment plan" to referr us to a specialized clinic (Eden) that made me feel like my dog was dying and rush him in, to only have them try to run the same tests but double the price. Another recommended clinic in Sac was suggested, could barely take a call for an appt. Glad we took the Hollistic route and gave supplimemts that were low on his labs. We chose the less invasive route and pleased to say hes gained his weight and muscles back. Found out the hard way that the prescription kibbles were sub par as his stools were better with his original dog food (Farmina). Just feels like theres no consideration to people's money. Also dont like how they warn you that theyll lose your stuff and they charge a percentage when you use a card. I get a card fee but a % of the bill is crazy in this economy.
Experiencia negativa: This place used to care. You'd pay after the care is done. Now you pay up front and get refunded what they dont do. 5 hours going onto 6. First 3 hours of just waiting. Then taken to a room and waited another hour to get an estimate. Another hour later I can finally pay. 6 hour mark, xrays are finally taken. What an absolute joke there has to be someone new running the scenes now.
Experiencia negativa: Wooow that’s a lot of negative reviews! You guys should just call yourselves a regular vet, the way you have 0% urgency. I was the only one in the lobby at one point and I sat here for hours waiting for my cat who hasn’t eaten or walked in 3 days to be seen. I’m going to go home without him getting treated and take him to his regular vet in the morning, IF he doesn’t pass before then. They put on a movie (the gentrified Lilo and Stitch where Ohana means letting the social worker take your sister. not even the original) and said they would see him soon, the movie was almost over by the time I decided to go home. Let him spend his last moments in peace with people who love him, not in the cold lobby of liars.
Experiencia negativa: After calling and being told there were 4 calls ahead of me, i was put on hold. I held for 20 min before the call was automatically disconnected. I called back, when asked if i would hold i told them what happened. The response was “ well now you have 3 people in front of you”. I held again for 20min and the same thing happened— i was disconnected. Very frustrating. Poor service. Will not be using them again.
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you all for your kindness, We lost our fur baby last night. Your staff and Medical professionals were amazing. Thank you for helping us during a very trying time.
Experiencia fantástica: We took my hybrid cat indoor and outdoor for feline pink eye and they were so gentle and definitely helped me out I didn’t have a carrier and let me use a loaner so I can let him have his appointment! They even offered to put on his cone for us to insure it was properly fitted they helped out so much and in such a great timely manner over all so impressed and thankful now to give my little one medicine!! Thank you guys!!
Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic veterinarian. They took really good care of my dog and were extremely fair in pricing. (Knee surgery)
Hi Matt. Thank you so much-we loved “Link” he is such a good boy. We look forward to seeing him back at recheck. We will call you to make his appointment - a message has been put in to his doctor
Experiencia negativa: Staff was incompetent Rude And very unprofessional. I had to wait over five hours for my dog to be released after the vet already saw her. she was only sent home with a couple medication’s. would not recommend this place to anyone.
Experiencia negativa: Place is garbage my wife took our cat Luna for a bite wound and they missed the other bite on her tail we took her back and they wanted more money on top of the 1500 dollar charge to stitch up the other wound.. and she hasn’t eaten and just puking stomach acid, doesn’t move nothing and I don’t have any more money to take her back because of these peoples ignorance she’s dying because of them whatever they shoved down her throat for the anesthesia she can’t stand the site of food it’s sad.
Experiencia fantástica: A huge thanks to the staff. Emergency visit. Knew I had to euthanize beloved pet. The vet and office staff were exceptionally sympathetic and supportive. A very difficult moment was mitigated by their kindness and compassion
Experiencia negativa: So many disappointments its just sad to list them all! I had to bring my frenchie puppy in for a prolapsed rectum. After a few hours of waiting I talked with the Dr and he basically said he needed to put her under anesthesia so he could do the reinsertion. I figured ok little extreme but whatever. Then the quote I received was mind blowing. $3269.00. They wanted to charge me for MAJOR SURGERY AND anesthesia alone $1600.....and my favorite fee on the quote which btw was a full page list of things to do, it was the MISCELLANEOUS fee for $300. literally what it said. I can rant more on that but no need. All that waste of time I ended up taking my pup to a vet in Tracy. It was in a petsmart which I didn't know. But the young gal said she could take care of it. She called me an hr later and said my pup was ready to pick up. She did the reinsertion and stitches while my pup was awake. She said she put a sugar solution to reduce swelling and thats why it took so long, oh wait let me add and gave my pup a bath. charged me $331.00. Yes THREE HUNDRED AND THIRTY ONE DOLLARS!!!! I understand ER VISITS ARE MORE BUT THE MEDICAL TREATMENT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN. Taking advantage of desperate animal owners who just want to save their pets they love. JUST FOR A BUCK!
Experiencia fantástica: I took my senior dog here whose mouth had swelled up due to him needing dental work. I was very stressed and my dog was not acting like himself, but the ladies at the front desk were very nice and patient. The staff was very gentle with my dog and the Vet Shannon Snook was AMAZING! you can tell she loves her job and she took great care of my dog and I will be forever grateful to her! The staff even called to check on my dog a few days later, which I thought was really sweet! With antibiotics and pain meds my dog is back to feeling like himself! I will definitely bring him back here if needed!! And I would recommend this place to anyone!! They are great!
Experiencia negativa: Not a good experience at all. Had me wait in my car for 2 hours and no one came out too see my dog. Decided to leave because they couldn't even let me know how much longer I would have to wait. Avoid this place if you can.
Experiencia fantástica: We came all the way from Merced because my elderly neighbor had a kitten in her engine for 8 hours. I got it out but the kitten (4 weeks about) took a turn for the worse quickly and we were met with prompt action from the staff at 1am this morning. Thank you for the prompt action and kindness for the kitten. Tells you a lot about this clinic. Wish I found the little guy sooner.
Experiencia negativa: If you want accuracy, good communication and people who are NOT out to take your money for unnecessary procedures and pointless surgery...then go somewhere else! Good place to take your fur baby if you lose the last few days with them because Standiford Vet wants to get paid. Thanks for stopping our dear Scooters suffering...but that was the only ethical thing you did.
Experiencia negativa: My 8 month old puppy was acting funny, low energy, staggering walk. Took him to Standiford vet. Called prior to arriving, described issue and a description of my puppy. Arrive and checked in, asked to wait in car by tech (Temp. 98 degrees and no shade in parking lot). 20 min. later a tech comes out and asks the same question as the first check in tech. Says they need to prep the center for our puppies safety. Another 20 min. go by ..98 degrees no shade! Tech comes out with Parvo test, want our credit card up front for test and wait 30 more min. IN THE HOT SUN! My wife and I couldn’t take the heat any longer and called another emergency Vet. If I left my puppy in the car and went shopping for nearly an hr. The police would be breaking my window to get my puppy out. How is this different? They wanted us to wait an additional 30 min. for test results after making us wait 40 min in 98 degree direct sun. JUST CRUEL!
Experiencia negativa: If you have a sick animal run don't walk away from Standiford Veterinary Clinic 7 days and a $700 dollar bill and no diagnosis no test results no communication after visit and three phone calls, no follow through or follow up. Just a money mill to clip the unsuspecting patron who's trying to get care for their sick animal. If I could give one star it would be too many. These people especially the doctor seem to have no care or compassion for the patient or the pet owner. I don't know how the doctor sleeps at night, I suppose his country club membership is his consolation. Yell "FORE" !
Experiencia positiva: I brought my cat ash on July 4th to dr Zachary and he was very detailed and accurate. My cat was diagnosed with epilepsy and the doctor really explained the process of testing for epilepsy and long term treatment. When he was hospitalized I was quoted a low payment of 1900 and a high payment of 2700. I was stressed thinking of how I was going to pay but when I came back to pick him up it was only 1200 so they actually refunded me, I appreciate them being honest and upfront and not overcharging
Experiencia negativa: I used to love this vets office didn't mind the fact they are double most places because they actually cared about the animals. Now you bring in a dying stray kitten the eyes popped open you found in the street by their office and they say just drop it off wherever you found it.
Experiencia negativa: Heartbreaking Experience — I Would Never Recommend This Place This was hands down the worst experience I've ever had with a veterinary clinic. I brought my almost 18-year-old cat in because he was not acting like himself and had been vomiting multiple times. Given his age and condition, I was terrified he might be at the end of his life. I was emotionally devastated, hoping for compassion and guidance. Instead, I was met with a cold and unsupportive attitude from the vet. I was left waiting for hours in a private room — we arrived around 7:30 PM and didn’t leave until after 1:00 AM. There was no clear communication or comfort provided during that time. To top it all off, I was charged over $800 for what felt like minimal care. It honestly felt like they saw me more as a dollar sign than a grieving pet owner. I paid it, because I thought I was doing the right thing for my cat. Tragically, my cat passed away just two hours after we got home. This experience was traumatic, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I highly recommend going to your trusted primary vet instead of coming here. I regret ever stepping foot in this place.
Experiencia fantástica: It’s so nice to have a friendly and caring vet that’s open 24 hrs! My cat gave us a scare when he must have played too hard with his sibling and got a bad eye injury at 10 pm. Every other vet was closed. I brought him in, the wait was long because there were a whole bunch of other pet emergencies there. But they allowed me to wait in my car with my cat and they came out to me. They gave me several options with different price ranges and explained everything well. They were very understanding in my budget and my panicked state. I will always come back to this vet!
Experiencia negativa: I had to wait six hours just to get my cat some simple medication. The care provided was subpar, and they performed a parvo test that wasn’t even necessary. On top of that, the treatment was extremely expensive, and the staff showed little regard for my time. Overall, a very disappointing experience.
Dear Mr. Perez,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear that your visit did not meet your expectations.
As an emergency veterinary hospital, our wait times can sometimes vary based on the critical nature of cases that come through our doors. Please know that we never take your time for granted, and we do our best to care for each patient in the order of medical urgency while still respecting the importance of your schedule.
Regarding testing, our doctors are committed to providing thorough and appropriate care. We do not recommend tests unless they are necessary to rule out potential illnesses or help us reach an accurate diagnosis to ensure the best possible treatment for your pet.
We understand how stressful emergency visits can be and sincerely regret that your experience was less than satisfactory. If you would like to discuss your visit further, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly. We value your feedback and hope for the opportunity to better serve you and your pet in the future
Experiencia fantástica: Walked in w my doggy who had an infected face and they took him in right away. They updated me on everything happening and fixed him up into a healthier condition. He’s so much better now. Thanks so so much for everyone being kind and helpful.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re so glad we could help your pup feel better and that you had a positive experience with our team. Your appreciation means so much to us!
Experiencia negativa: After our dog was hit by a car we rushed him over to a hospital, I transferred my family dog here from Sylvan Veterinary Hospital so that my dog can get surgery. Our experience here from the beginning felt off and unorganized. 1st they had misplaced our check in/registration papers so they had to look for those while we waited in the exam room. 2nd the surgen on clock that day had stayed overtime because they didn’t have any other surgen to treat our dog. I said to myself well that’s an inconvenience to be under staff at an emergency hospital. But none the less “ lucky to catch him” thinking it’s a good thing he didn’t leave. 3rd they required a deposit of over 6 thousand dollars in order for our dog to undergo surgery. Crazy amount for just a deposit they did offer to sign up for credit but unfortunately that’s something we couldn’t risk due to our financial status. So they said no deposit no treatment. While my brother and I figured out how we were going to pay this amount the vet nurse attending us was sharing our conversation to the surgeon back and forth. When we finally figured out a way to gather this 6,000+ dollars with the help of family, when she came back we shared to her that we had the money after all and that we were ready to pay. She then said that the deposit was now going to be $7,995+ I asked, why the change? She said because the surgeon has now left the building and he was going to need to call his team to come back out the NEXT DAY. I asked why did he leave, why didn’t he wait till all this was sorted out. previously when we spoke directly to the Dr he said he would attend to our dog and the he was in good hands and that he didn’t mind staying overtime. She then said because he has a life too and family he needs to go home to and a flight to catch in the morning. I asked so regardless of leaving a crazy amount of deposit our dog would not undergo surgery today? She said no he would be treated tomorrow. And it wasn’t guaranteed because being the only surgeon they had he had to catch a flight in the morning. We had no other option but to leave with our dog and look for another place to treat him. So sad to trust a place with our family pets and they can’t even provide services needed because they were understaffed. Truly an inconvenience for an emergency. And just to add this is the 3rd time I had a bad experience here. And it will be the last I will never trust this place again with any of our family pets.
Experiencia negativa: I’ve called this place because I was not sure if my dogs injury was an emergency or can wait to visit the vet the next day because it was getting late. They put me on hold right away. I’m on hold for 15 minutes and I’d assume that was the max time you can be on hold because the automated call said bye and hung up. I called again still put me on hold for another 15 minutes. I’m just constantly calling at this point. This place is the only 24 hour hospital in the area you’d think they would at least answer the phone. Mind you they are very expensive
Experiencia fantástica: I had to being my dog to put him down at this hospital, they treated my family with love and respect, affordable place, staff was great, they prepared him and bought him to our car and they give us some paw prints at the end they made this experience a lot better than what i had expected. THANK YOU, STANDIFORD VETERINARY CENTER ❤️
Thank you for your kind words during such a heartbreaking time. We’re so sorry for your loss and grateful we could support you and your beloved furbaby. It means a lot to know we could offer some comfort. Sending love to you and your family. ❤️
Experiencia negativa: DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO THIS PLACE THEIR CARELESS AND MONEY HUNGRY !!! My experience at Standiford Veterinary Clinic was one of the most heartbreaking and horrifying things I’ve ever gone through. I came in crying, begging for help for my dog, and what I witnessed was beyond cruel. They tried to charge me nearly $4,000 to remove all of my dog’s teeth and do other procedures she didn’t need. They were going to keep her overnight, and if I had let them, she would’ve died. Her teeth weren’t even the issue. We ended up taking her to a different vet, and they found a foxtail stuck in her cheek something Standiford didn’t even check for. She was dying and they didn’t even notice. That place is more focused on money than actually helping animals. It’s clear they would do anything, even take innocent lives, just to make a profit. The doctor there is one of the most unprofessional people I’ve ever met—not only in his work but in the way he carries himself. While attending to the animals, I literally saw him picking his nose while examining these animals. That’s not only disgusting, it’s dangerous. If you don’t have compassion for animals, you shouldn’t be in this field. There are so many careers out there, but he chose this one and is clearly doing it only for money. He is the devil in disguise. May God not forgive him, because the devil surely will. To make things worse, they put me in a sketchy room that made me feel uneasy. The doctor barely explained anything and acted like my dog’s life didn’t matter. But after he left, the nurse quietly pulled me aside and genuinely encouraged me to take my dog to Crows Landing Vet Clinic. That moment confirmed everything I already felt. I usually follow my intuition—and I saw right through that doctor’s lies. The nurse, though, had a heart. Even he knew something wasn’t right. While I sat in that clinic for hours—crying, starving, and praying—hoping my dog would be okay, I saw some of the worst things ever. So many people were in the waiting room crying over their pets. I saw multiple owners leave with lifeless dogs. I saw people come out of rooms sobbing. It felt like that place was cursed. Like death was all around. These people are not healers they are takers. They show no real care or compassion for the animals they treat. If your dog or cat is in pain, in an emergency, or even just needs a check-up, please go anywhere else. Even if a clinic doesn’t usually take walk-ins, just call and explain. Standiford is not a place to trust. I am forever thankful for Crows Landing Road Vet Clinic. Even though they don’t usually accept emergency walk-ins, they took my dog right away because they care. They acted immediately, did the right surgery, and helped her heal. She ran to me after and wagged her tail. She finally slept peacefully. That’s what true compassion looks like. If you love your pet, do not take them to Standiford Clinic. That place is nothing but cruelty behind closed doors. They are heartless, greedy, and dangerous. They may call themselves a vet clinic, but what they do is far from care.
Experiencia fantástica: This place and everyone working there is just amazing. My dog had a critical condition I’ve never even heard of (flipped stomach) and they acted fast, efficient all the while making us feel calm. They called after surgery (1am), and sent me updates all the through the day on her recovery. They made this horrible experience bearable. Thank you amazing team!
Experiencia fantástica: They took wonderful care of my dog during her emergency at 4am. The staff were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and compassionate throughout the entire visit. From now on, if my dog has an emergency when her regular vet isn’t available, I will definitely bring her here first. This experience was so much better than the emergency vet hospital we visited initially, where my husband unfortunately felt dismissed by a staff member. I truly appreciate the professionalism and kindness shown here.
Experiencia fantástica: Our cat had some unidentifiable problem and we could not check her out because she is wild-an exferal that is six years into domestication with small results. We took her in to this wonderful vet hospital because she was obviously in shock and bleeding all over from what we thought was her mouth. The staff and doctors took her on and figured out how to manage to get X-rays and the whole shebang. She is all sewn up and on meds and antibiotics. She broke down all the barriers we put up to confine her, but she is doing fine. Thank you to the Standiford center for managing her anger issues enough to treat her. It. Is a wonderful place with highly skilled people top to bottom. We will see you soon for her follow up, unless she eats us first. Relax people, she is just a very strong black, female cat. We love her so much
Hi Jane,
Thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt review. We’re honored you trusted us with your fierce and beloved girl, and we’re so glad to hear she’s healing well. Our team is always here to help—anger issues, wild hearts, and all!
Experiencia negativa: My dog slipped and fell on hardwood floor today and immediately was unable to walk or put any weight on her leg. Crying and unable to move. I rushed her here after calling. They told me “would you like to bring her in or make an appointment”? Obviously I’m concerned her leg may be broken or fractured. I rushed her there around 6PM. At about 6:45 a tech came over and asked some questions, said that unfortunately it would be about a 4-6 hour wait. I called other places but nobody was able to see her. So obviously I want my dog to get help, so I stayed. At around 9PM my wife got someone to watch our small child at home and she came to take over, as I have work at 4am. My wife gets home only to tell me that, finally at around Midnight, they see my dog. Came back and said she was too anxious and to hold her. Took her vitals, said she seemed fine, but her leg may be broken or fractured. Unfortunately we are too busy, and it will now be another 4-5 hour wait. So my wife just came home. They did nothing for her at all, nothing for pain or anything. Basically just said wait or go somewhere else. My dog is still clearly in pain and unable to walk. No we have to start all over. I understand being busy and possibly have more urgent matters, but if you are then only 24hr hospital in the area, it’s not my fault that you don’t know how to staff properly. I do not recommend this place, they don’t care enough to staff an emergency vet properly to help you in any timely matter.
Experiencia fantástica: It was 4 in the morning on Tuesday and we were helpless with our dog. The lady and gentleman who were working at that time gave us a Blessing of help I am so grateful for. Thank you so much. Professional and kind mannered they were to us. May God be with you. Thank you
Ezekiel, Thank you so much for your kind words — we're truly grateful we could be there for you and your dog in that moment of need. We'll be sure to pass your appreciation on to our compassionate team.
Experiencia fantástica: Took my heart and soul dog Eloise in yesterday afternoon on an emergency basis. She had collapsed at home and stopped breathing for a few seconds and scared the hell out of me and my family. I came in hyperventilating and snot crying and just about threw my dog into the arms of the lovely triage tech who took my concerns very urgently and whisked her straight to the treatment room where she received expert evaluation and care. I am so so sorry I didn't remember anyone's names aside from Nova at the front desk who gracefully led my dad and I to a private area for me to hyperventilate in peace, Natalie who was my Ellie's amazing tech and was very patient with us as we tried to find finances for diagnostics (ER veterinary care is expensive but you're paying for quality), and Dr.Zach who handled our case with urgency and was very kind and thorough in explaining all the differentials in what could be happening and how to move forward. To anyone else who was involved in her care whose name I didnt catch, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being there for Ellie and all the other animals I saw coming in and out that day who also recieved wonderful care. Eloise is home now and recovering well.
Thank you, Hailey, for trusting us with Eloise during such a terrifying moment — we know how deeply loved she is and we’re so glad she’s back home and recovering. Your kind words mean the world to our team, and we’ll be sure to share your gratitude with Nova, Natalie, Dr. Zac, and everyone who helped care for your sweet girl.
Experiencia fantástica: Mimi had a foxtail removed from her nose. Thank you Standiford veterinary Center for such excellent care. And a special thanks for trimming her claws and ear hair trim.
Joanna, Thank you so much for your kind review! We're so glad Mimi is feeling better — foxtails are no fun at all, and we're right there with you in not liking them one bit. It was our pleasure to help her feel more comfortable with a little extra grooming, too. Give "Mimi" some extra snuggles from all of us!
Experiencia negativa: My dog had an emergency operation to fix a turned stomach. The veterinarian actually saved her life. She was fine but the post op care was lacking. I was called to pick her up the next day after the surgery. We raised a concern about blood clots but we were told the risk was very low and that dogs normally are not prescribed blood thinners. The next day after I picked her up, she started breathing very laboriously. I called the hospital and they said to take her back in. We did and they took X-rays and blood panel. After the tests we were told she was fine. Again we raised the possibility of pulmonary embolism after surgery. The vet again stated that they didn’t see any issues. So I took her home. The next day she started having difficulty breathing again. Before I could get her back to the hospital she convulsed in the car and died. When I got to the clinic they confirmed that she had died. I asked to speak to the administrator concerning the events, I paid over 10k for everything. So I wanted to discuss possible reimbursement of part of the money due to the bad post op care. I have called 3 times and was told each time that the administrator would call me back after they reviewed the case. So far no call back and it’s now three days later. Unfortunately, it seems they are too busy to speak to someone who paid over 10k. I am leaving this bad review not for the surgery but for the inattentiveness of the administrator to take some time to discuss with me the case and the death of my dog.
Experiencia fantástica: Honest, caring vet. Took our dog during emergency hours and had amazing service. Got a refund after being quoted a bit more than needed. Thank you!
Experiencia fantástica: I would like to thank the folks that work at this establishment. Unfortunately over the years we have had to have a few of our pups put down due to old age and sickness. This morning we had 2nd to the last of our babies out down. Thank you guys for your being so caring, gentle and kind
Experiencia fantástica: Anytime you have to go to an emergency room it’s stressful and exhausting. However, waiting in this emergency room was at least comfortable and the staff was extremely friendly. The Veterinarians both explained diagnosis and treatment in terms that we could understand! Not the first time our Lab has had tummy troubles but this was our first visit hopefully our last but probably not lol! I would highly recommend this facility!
Experiencia negativa: Called in to get information about my husbands recent visit with our dog and they were anything but helpful. When I called that same day 2hrs later if that the receptionist seemed annoyed and frustrated that I wanted more information about what further treatment would look like for our beloved pet. The notes that were provided talked about insisting on further treatment and when asked what that meant they were extremely unclear and said to wait until morning. My pet had a life threatening condition and had I not looked for care else where she may have passed over night. It would seem almost impossible that the team at this facility would be oblivious to this. What seems possible is their lack of care and diluted mediocre empathy. Truly hope you reflect on how this practice and how you as individuals impact other people. Why get into this line of work? Literally do anything else because this is simply not the field for you.
Experiencia negativa: I have left 2 photos above. The first one is the estimate I got from Standiford Vet Hospital, the second from another place (if you need an incredible emergency vet, I will gladly provide that name outside this review). Our small dog was peeing blood excessively, lethargic, and not eating. So we rushed her to SVH. First off, my husband arrived at SVH at 4 pm and waited 5 hours for them to say you need to pay over $900 for blood work and more tests. He couldn't, so he brought her back home. We managed to ask for money from family, and we returned. They charged us the nearly $1k for x-rays and urinalysis. In total, for other tests and fees, we paid $1.5k. After that, they diagnosed her with pyometra, a life-threatening condition that requires surgery for the removal of the uterus. Their estimate on the high end was $5,322. This would've been on top of the $1.5k already spent. We, of course, did not have that kind of money, and their only "options" were Care Credit and Scratch Pay. We got denied. We talked to them about potential payment options or anything else since our dog was going to die. The reception lady just kept saying "sorry unfortunately no". We asked for referrals to other places, and they said, "we don't know." Okay, cool, zero options. Secondly, their demeanor was trash. The receptionist lady was impatient, seemed frustrated, and rushed people who were clearly grieving and upset. They didn't explain anything bout costs. They just bring you a paper with an egregious total and hand you a pen. The way they handled my, mind you x-small dog, was ridiculous. They muzzled her because she was "nippy", i must note she could barely walk and was disoriented. They took her and left us waiting. Once again, there were no explanations, no care, no compassion. After they proved to be completely useless, we contacted another vet and set up to meet in the morning. When I brought her into this other hospital, they immediately admitted us. They didn't muzzle her, and they took her in with care. While I waited, the vet himself came into the room, sat down, and explained everything to me. (The SVH vet NEVER came in or spoke to us directly) Numer one, he told me he couldn't 100 rule that it was pyometra, but that he recommended spaying her anyways to prevent that in the future. This reduced the cost astronomically as he put it down as a regular spay. I was blunt about the amount of money I had, and he stopped me and said, "Don't worry about that right now, we will get her in, and we'll work on that later." They brought me an estimate (the second photo). On the high end, $3,811. I agreed and paid $1.6k as this was 70% of the low-end cost. He called 3 times and updated me throughout the day. The next morning, I was able to pick her up. My doggy was on the receptionist lap, happy, wagging her tail. No need for muzzles. That told me everything. Longest story short, I paid them a TOTAL of $1,200 for surgery and also a removal of a mass in her breast. They REFUNDED ME $400. How does SVH get away with charging over 5k to people in desperate need? I have no clue. Take my review into serious consideration. These people DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. They will try to get as much money from you as possible. They shouldn't be running what they've got going. Do not take your pets here. They are money-hungry, price gouging scammers.
Experiencia fantástica: My cat had to get x-rays after ingesting something he wasnt supposed to, and had to be admitted overnight to be monitored until he was out of the woods. I was told I could call if I wanted to checkup on him, so I called a few times through that day. The staff was patient and compasionate with me and my calls through the whole ordeal, and my baby came back to me safe and sound. Dr. Schacher was kind and patient when he had to explain the procedures with me in the midst of me crying my eyes out. One vet tech in particular, Julianna M., was very compassionate and accomodating when I needed some time before I had to leave my cat for the day. If you guys see this, thank you for your kind words and putting up with all the ugly crying! T.T (I've also taken my cat here as a very young kitten when he was going though some stomach problems--they were amazing then too!!) Our visit was a walk-in, so it did take some time (~2 hr wait) but this included my cat getting admitted, x-rayed, and having the results read to me, and some visiting time in a private room. Keep in mind, there were other patients coming in with other emergencies. The earlier you arrive the better chance it won't take as long as a much later visit. As a healthcare worker, I can understand why the wait time can be a lenghty--especially when it is a walk-in. In the end of the day, my baby had an emergency and they were able to get him through the dangerous part within that crucial 24 hours. He has to be in a bland diet for the next few days, and thankfully, they had some of the special food in stock for me to purchase which saved me a lot of time from having to go to the pet store. He is home with me safe now. see pic of Ash after he came home from his big emergency.
Experiencia fantástica: I am so thankful for Michael Schacher, DVM GP! My cat Shadow needed emergency surgery for intestinal obstruction and the doctor provided care in a timely manner. I was seen immediately on a Saturday morning and Shadow had his surgery by that same afternoon after receiving the pre-op care he needed for a successful surgery. We are 2.5 weeks post-op and Shadow is essentially back to normal. He was actually feeling more like himself by day 6. Needless to say, this surgery was a total success. I would not hesitate to trust the staff at Standiford Veterinary Center with Shadows care, and my other pets in the future. Thank you to all the staff involved with Shadows care the weekend of March 8 + 9, 2025. You are all wonderful and saw Shadow promptly after we arrived. I am forever thankful to all of you!
Experiencia negativa: I brought my cat in at 3 pm and it took until 9 pm to come tell us what was going on and then we paid our bill at 1030 pm and they said they would bring him out and we asked 3 more times and they said he would be right out here it is midnight and the still haven't brought him out and haven't even checked on us or him it is a crazy place dont go there this vet sucks we they told us they were going to get him done 3 hours later and they told us 15 minutes longer they still have to clean his ear never go there unless it's your last resort I think i deserve a refund they dont come and keep you in the loop like the hospital for humans when they told us we would be done by 10 pm after we finally got to see the doctor and 2 and a half hours later they still haven't cleaned his ear and put his medicine together if i don't get a refund or really big discount i will never come back and i will tell all my relatives to not go there and i have a really big family we finally didn't get out until 1 am.
Experiencia fantástica: I put down my 17 year old cat and it was a comfortable experience. Everyone was kind, gentle, warm, and compassionate. I've put down other pets at other vets in this town where the experience was cold and lacking humanity. So thank you to the staff for helping ease something I was dreading.
Experiencia fantástica: I cant express how thankful I am to this place. My pup got real sick late at night and it got to the point we were preparing for the worst. Thanks to the staff here I get more time with my sweet girl. They were patient, understanding and supportive throughout her stay. 10
Experiencia negativa: I would like to share this on social media I took my dog to veterinary on Tuesday to trim his nail’s only ( only) But in that I was called to room number #5 One of their male stuff. He said only let put the cone around him what his my dog going to be nude no Put the musle that fine might my dog could bite But my husband hold our dog put him on the table in the room Now the vet said from here I will take him to back to trim his nail’s We said Oky It’s been almost 20 minutes I asked my husband why our dog hasn’t came out I am panicking I stood up . In a second another female vet came out Telling us that your dog hasn’t been hurt and bleeding I got upset it was just a trim of nails And you guys need to sign a paper I said which kind of paper I went in the room # 5 waiting for 10 minutes I didn’t see my dog coming . Outside . I opened the employee door and straight went there where they put my dog in a cage My dog was in the leashed and musle on with cone How everything came out They threw my dog in the cage Treated him so bad . My dog was hurt and bleeding by his mouth The worst service they did And than I will take my dog right now I called my husband and straight open the gate right now they open the cage and my dog was still bleeding Very bad treatment they did That person should be fired from his job and if he has a license should be revoked Every animal be treated with Loved and support My dog is trauma his so shocked I would sue this clinic I asked them I wanna see the camera it would have recorded But no I didn’t show me When I asked I need complain form They gave me letter head The clinic don’t have the complaint form It’s that employee fault The manager came talked to me and said nothing happened than how come my dog end up in the cage Or they were saying your dog was roaming and biting everyone Did my dog bite NO ? I return the vet black guy hurt my dog I need justice My dog is healthy energetic happy eatable He traumatize my dog
Experiencia negativa: If you enjoy wasting thousands of dollars and waiting for hours to get ZERO RESULTS, this place is for you. My dog’s mouth was in pain and she was unable to eat or drink. We took her in for an exam and waited for hours only to find that the sorry excuses for vets at this place somehow lacked the competency to open the mouth of a TINY toy poodle dog. They said they couldn’t open it, meaning we got nothing out of the visit. THEN, they had the gall to suggest we pay $900 for them to sedate her so they could open her mouth. They also asked us to pay hundreds for appetite medications when the problem so clearly isn’t her appetite. It’s not that she won’t eat, she CAN’T eat because she’s IN PAIN which was somehow a concept too complex for them to comprehend. Not sure what fools they take us for, believing we’d pay $900 without a single diagnosis. And, of course, they charged us $150 for the visit alone. $150 and three hours of wait time for a quick glance at her mouth. Not sure what kind of exam they did, but when we got home, we examined her mouth ourselves and found out that she’s still in pain. It’s to be expected considering this is the same place that misdiagnosed our other dog with pinkeye when she really had a sharp object lodged inside her eye, causing her to suffer for days.
Experiencia fantástica: We couldn’t be happier with the care Jinx received! She’s doing remarkably well. Jinx is eating and drinking almost as much as she did before her illness, even without the appetite stimulant. She’s nearly fully transitioned to the Hill’s Science Diet food, and her energy levels are back to normal. We’re optimistic that her intestinal inflammation and UTI are resolving thanks to the excellent treatment she received. Thank you for your attentive and compassionate care. It made all the difference for Jinx, and we’re so grateful! Highly recommend your services!
