My cat Kitty became sick, constantly have seizures and every time I made a visit to the vet, they always did their best to get her the medication she needed. Unfortunately early this morning, it was decided her condition was not getting any better and went through with the process with euthanasia. Although a hard process, the kind staff made a lot better. I could not give any more thanks to the young vet tech Michael, for being such a kind man. They didn't rush us, just went at our pace. Thanks to the, my Kitty went peacefully, and I even got something along with it to remember her, a print of her paws in clay. Wonderful service. ❤️

Dr.Gulley listened to me, presented a plan of treatment, and showed compassion. I could tell how much she cares about our beloved pets. I am switching the care of all my fur babies over to Boca Chica Animal Hospital, and will recommend it to my friends.

Experiencia negativa: They've been my dogs vet for several years but no more after today. I took my doberman in for his annual. We waited over an hour but that's not the issue. The tech tried to give my dog the poke up the butt for poop but I'd already taken the poop sample in. Not a huge deal but it made it obvious they weren't paying attention. The tech wasn't nice to my dog at all. We had 2 staff members in the room that were just talking to each other with no concern for my dog who was trembling. There's no way I'm gonna pay someone hundreds of dollars to treat my dog poorly. The dog is the entire reason yall are in business. I'm trying to pay for my dog to be taken care of and these people are really into their lunch plans. Good luck with that.

Experiencia negativa: Date of incident: January 10, 2026 This review is written from a place of profound grief and justified anger. At 9:48 a.m. on 1/10/26, I contacted this clinic because it was the closest veterinary facility open to me, approximately 15 minutes from my home. I explained clearly that my elderly boxer was experiencing a medical emergency consistent with GDV (Gastric Dilatation–Volvulus) and that we needed immediate veterinary intervention. Despite having over two hours remaining in their posted business hours, Boca Chica Animal Hospital refused to see us, stating they were no longer accepting walk-ins due to an upcoming noon closure. Instead, we were directed to Pet 911 in McAllen, a drive of over one hour. Because we were denied emergency care by the nearest open facility, we had no alternative but to attempt that drive. My dog died halfway there, in my wife’s lap, in the back seat of our truck. I fully understand that GDV carries no guaranteed outcome. However, my dog was never given a chance. Timely intervention, even basic stabilization or decompression, could have changed the outcome or, at the very least, prevented her from dying in transit. I firmly believe that had Boca Chica Animal Hospital not refused service with significant operating time remaining, my dog would have had a fighting chance. Turning away a clearly stated, life-threatening emergency is not just disappointing, it is indefensible. This was a preventable loss, and the lack of urgency, compassion, and professional responsibility shown by this clinic directly contributed to it. I would strongly caution anyone trusting this facility with emergency situations, as we were turned away when every minute truly mattered. We lost a beloved family member today. This loss is permanent and it did not have to happen this way. I fully intend to lodge a formal complaint with the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.

Experiencia fantástica: I came a couple of weeks ago but it’s been difficult to muster up the energy to write this post but I feel like it’s needed. My dog Suzy had been unwell and we did the best we could with what we had at home especially after her sister had just gotten better and incurred a hefty vet bill elsewhere. Suzy and I were seen as a walk in and right away the Dr knew something was off. She gave me details as to what we could do and the difficult talk of other options. Unfortunately my girl seemed to be far from any help I could give and I had to put her down. The Dr and staff were so sweet allowing me time to sit with her without judgment. I got to bring my girl home so her sister and my family could say goodbye. It’s been one of the hardest things I’ve had to do but the Dr and I believe we did the right thing. Thank you for your understanding and all you do.

Experiencia negativa: I had an extremely disappointing and hurtful experience when I called Boca Chica Animal Hospital to ask about euthanasia services for my 18-year-old Chihuahua, who has been a patient there for several years. The receptionist who answered my call was cold, rushed, and showed no compassion whatsoever. I was emotional and crying, yet she continued speaking in a mechanical way, as if reading from a script, frequently cutting me off and not listening to what I was saying. Despite clearly stating that I was only inquiring about euthanasia services, she repeatedly pushed information about cremation and urns, which was distressing and unnecessary at that moment. There was no acknowledgment of my grief, no “I’m sorry,” no empathy, nothing. I understand this may be part of her job, but this is not just a service. It is about a beloved family member who has given me unconditional love for 18 years. This interaction lacked even the most basic level of compassion and made an already heartbreaking situation even worse. No one should have to experience this when facing such a difficult decision. The staff member I spoke with would greatly benefit from training in empathy and compassionate communication.

Experiencia fantástica: We enjoy Boca Chica Animal Hospital and recommend to any dog owners. We've seen different doctors each time but they and the vet techs are always helpful, informative, and kind. The appointment exam fee is about $32-$40 i didnt get a straight answer in the end when I asked, but as a walk-in/no appointment it was $69. I think that fee is quite high but if you're wanting immediate attention for your pet it's worth the price imo. The wait times with or without appointment can be a little long, but it's good practice for your patience. This time we went in for our dog's ear infection as a walk-in at 8:15am. It took 50 minutes from when we walked in to be called to the back rooms. They did swab sample of the ear, doctor consultation, quote/estimate for medications and misc. visit costs (waste fee, exam fee, ear cleaning, prescriptions) we paid $330 in the end and left at 10am. In total it took about an hour and 45 mins. They also do dog nail trim for $25. Hope this helps with pricing, appointment/exam costs, and wait times! Updated review and changing from 4 stars to 5 stars!!: We enjoy continuing to come to Boca Chica Animal Hospital, everything always goes smoothly with an appointment (and walk-ins when you come early/when they open). We did boarding for our one dog for a weekend and had complete peace of mind knowing he's in safe hands. We got a tour of the kennels, paperwork was easy, and everyone knew what they were doing and had answers for everything we asked. They were able to send pictures and updates when requested and we really appreciated that! We look forward to more visits and boarding in the future.

Experiencia negativa: Terrible experience getting a simple routine vaccine for my cat. DO NOT GO HERE. I waited an hour and 15 minutes. When they finally saw me, it literally took three to four minutes for the vet to complete. When I asked the front desk why it was taking so long and why people were getting admitted before me, even though I arrived before them, the people at the desk acted annoyed and made me feel uncomfortable. The examination room was surprisingly dirty and smelled terrible. The lights in the waiting room and the examination room were flickering the whole time. When it came time to ring me up, they wanted to charge me for way more than I asked for and it was super expensive and I had to talk on my way out of additional services I didn’t need. Even then, it was still expensive. Unprofessional and unsanitary.

Experiencia negativa: Had our yorkie in there late last fall. Long story short, they changed us over $700 dollars and none of the medicines helped. We are winter Texans and when we came home our vet gave her a medication and she is like a new puppy. Boca Chica veterinarian is ONLY out for the money. The vet here also only charged us $170. They did the same procedure. Boca Chica veterinarian is a rip off.

I live on south padre island, but the drive to brownsville where she is now is worth it. She’s always been super good with my 2 bulldogs, and she will sit on the floor and check each one of their paws and observe them thoroughly. And they love her. She will always be my vet - to the end.

Experiencia negativa: Made a same day appointment online for an injured pet. Got there to find I had an appointment in 10 days. For my cat with an open fracture. She would be dead. Response was — sometimes our system does that and we have stopped seeing walking ins for today. That’s what I get for making an appointment instead of walking in. Now it’s the end of the day and I’ve ruined my chance getting in to any other place today.

He unfortunately had to be put down. Thank god my mom could help us with the massive bill and that the talented people here could put my baby to rest. He was suffering. I was never the same after, because that dog was all I had for a long time. Now I have a beautiful pitbull since moving back home that is getting excellent care here. I’m forever grateful. Price for a walk in was $69 and i took summer in for a poorly done spay at the last vet. They charged me $246 for the examination, antibiotics, ointment, and treating my cat’s spay wound! Really good pricing for a person like me who doesn’t have pet insurance

When we finally were in a room the vet tech (he was very kind) stopped by for 20 seconds to talk to us and said the vet would be in shortly, vet didn’t come in until 12:10. I stepped out of the room before then and asked the front desk guy if I should reschedule and he said “oh sorry we had a lot of walk ins and our vet always takes on lots of pets at once” I asked if my appointment should come first since I made this appointment two weeks ago and he said yes. Why should I have to wait when walk ins are being helped instantly..? Very odd. Charged me $55 for a “consult” when the vet was only in the room for 30 seconds. Highly don’t recommend this place. They don’t care about your time, how stressed your pet is from waiting, they just wanna make some money. 0/5.

He had massive diarrhea and went about 7 times in the room and the gentleman with high spirits attended my puppy and cleaned the room everytime when it happened. Experiencia fantástica: My dog had an emergency last minute and no one else in Harlingen or Brownsville would take us in with out an appointment but then I called Boca chica animal hospital and they immediately said yes ofc I met with the doctor not much later and the people there are very welcoming and so nice the tech that was helping my baby was so nice and so was the doctor they helped us out and gave us the best advice they could for my girl I’m so appreciative of them and I’d recommend this place to anyone in the valley way better than pet doctor 911 in my opinion.

When I got there at noon, I was told that the wait would be long because drs were out for lunch until 1:30 pm and they were booked. I waited and was seen later. My puppy was given the proper attention needed. They are high in prices but we were seen that day.

Nelly, at the front desk, stated that they weren't taking anymore walk-ins. Have a sick dog and looking for a place that is open during the week for walk-ins and says they don't even close til 6:00PM. Oh well... next!

Experiencia fantástica: I can not express enough how much I appreciate this veterinary. My first encounter with this facility was probably around 2012 or 13 where we neutered Mininoe. At that time it was very old yet I still remember the lady was nice. And now a couple days ago sadly we had to put Mininoe down. Dr was very warm and friendly. Very open about the situation and they were kind about the facts. All the staff showed a lot respect and compassion towards me and my family after loosing our family member. How everyone wrote a note about how sorry they were for our loss. I hope they can keep doing what they are doing. I hope the staff sees this and knows that at least from me and my family that we appreciate you and hope you keep doing what you’re doing. Cause at least from where we sit you guys are making a small difference. May feel like I’m exaggerating but my cat is my childhood that passed away and you guys took care of it with warm hands. Thank you.

Experiencia negativa: Went in as a walk in at 7:30am and they initially said I was 2 people away and to wait in the parking lot my cat's symptoms required that I did. Then 9am came around still waiting in parking lot. Decided to asked how much longer they said I was 4 people away then at 11am I was 7 people away. Drove off and the only reason I stayed so long was because my cat was ill and I was extremely worried but, NEVER AGAIN!!! Worst place ever.

Experiencia positiva: This place was the only one available to see my french bulldog when I called all other vet clinics they were not answering or if they did they were booked for the month. The staff was nice and the doctor knew what she was doing. Great environment my dog was not feeling anxious. They were able to do some test on my boy’s eye and they gave us some medicine so far he is doing better now. 9/10 the location was hard to find with the road blocked.

Experiencia fantástica: I bring my two small dogs regularly and so far the experience of my pets being treated here has been very good. Walk-ins are very accessible compared to other clinics in town. Waiting sometimes can be a little long even though a time appointment has been set, but it's understandable that it's a very busy vet clinic. Overall, this clinic is very recommended.

Experiencia fantástica: We were here wintering and our senior Lab became so ill. They were great, did the exam and gave us meds to try. The Technicians were amazing when our boy couldn't walk and came with a rolling table for him. Several days later we had to say goodbye and they were amazing. The staff is wonderful and helpful. It is an emotional time and the support was amazing.
