Experiencia fantástica: We love WCAH and will miss the staff here very much after our move! We've taken our dog here for the past 5 years and he has always been well taken care of by the techs, doctors, and front staff. He is anxious, but shoutout to Rae for always making him feel at ease and getting his nails as short as possible! They've been helpful through all of our dog's health issues, and given us the information we need to make decisions on what treatments we wanted to proceed with. Pricing has been reasonable and their app has been the best part. You can get reminders for shots, book appointments, and access your pets vaccine record on there. The wait is never long, but be warned that sometimes appointments book out a week in advance unless it is an emergency (which you call in for and pay an emergency admit rate).

Experiencia fantástica: Took my dog here after adopting her from the Humane Society the day before. Getting an appointment was easy on the same day. The clinic is also very clean for a place that sees animals all day and has very pleasant receptionists. The medical staff are also eager to answer any questions and provide caring service to my dog. Highly recommend!

Experiencia negativa: Horrible experience! Do not go here. Basically said my sisters dog needed surgery so she had it done and it passed away 3 weeks later. The “specialty” surgeon would not take her calls and refused to see her. When she took her dog back for a follow up they sold her arthritis meds. The dog started having seizures so she took it to VCA emergency office. The doctor there said surgery should never have been done and that the dog had kidney cancer!!! They wouldn’t give her money back. Even for the meds. They said she had a “credit” . FORGET THIS PLACE. DON’T GO HERE

He is now so comfortable at West Coast Animal Hospital that he doesn’t need his anxiety meds anymore! The staff is so kind and attentive. Their care went unmatched when I had to send my cat over the rainbow bridge and I’ll never forget their kindness. Will always recommend them!

Experiencia fantástica: BEST VET EVER! I have been taking my 10 year old corgi here for the past 3 years. They're so professional, honest and TRULY care about the well being of your pet. The other morning, my dog need surgery ASAP due to a growth that bursted in his mouth. Benitez is our go to. We did a walk in and thankfully they took him in for day of surgery. They updated me while my dog was in their care which was so thoughtful. They made me feel taken care of, so I can't imagine how well my dog is treated in their care! I picked him up and Mariel went over the recovery process. She answered all of our questions and concerns. The next day, they even called to check up on my dog. How sweet right?? Thank you to West Coast Animal Hospital for ALWAYS taking care of us and Dr. Benitez and Mariel for taking care of Toast!

Experiencia fantástica: We take our 2 dogs to West Coast Animal Hospital and love everything about their clinical starting with the staff, clean facilities, easy to book appointments, and love how the vets and vet techs care for their patients. We also request Dr. Hodgson for all our appointments. He is incredibly kind, patient and very thorough. Our dogs are fear reactive and doesn’t take too well at the vet and he is so patient with both our dogs and always answers all of our questions. Marvette was our recent vet tech and she was wonderful as well! 10/0 recommend WCAH!

Experiencia fantástica: Everyone is always so pleasant here. Today TYLER assisted us. He answered all our questions about medication for our pets. We needed a new Rx script and he said it would about 15 minutes or so. Since we couldn’t wait- he said he would mail it to us so we didn’t have to come back. This was very helpful. He also took the time explain how pet insurance works. He was extremely informative and explained it all so we could completely understand. Thank you again to all the staff!

Experiencia negativa: I have been a customer with my dogs, and now that one of them needs emergency assistance they told me there booked and can't see him till 4 hours later. While I already explained he might be poisoned and I need care NOW. She was like no pay a deposit we will see your dog in 4 hours. So disappointing I'll never be back with any of my dogs.. now omw to look for an emergency vet..

Experiencia fantástica: We were referred to WCAH by 2 friends when our chiropractor moved out of state. The office is professional and clean and Dr. Greene is caring and calm. My 2 large breed girls have been receiving chiropractic care their entire lives (now 10 years and 4 years old) so we feel we have a high expectation when I come to standard of care. This location and our provider are exceed our our expectations making it worthwhile to drive over 15 miles to see them.

Experiencia fantástica: Our rescue’d Mal, Zeus, is extremely fearful of strangers and hates being handled. I couldn’t believe it! We tried so many vets that just wanted to tranqu and treat making him lethargic for the rest of the day. The techs and staff are incredibly patient, gentle, and skilled, they handle his annual check-ups, vaccines, and treatments without the tranquilizer. We wish we’d discovered them sooner. Highly recommend, skip the stress and go straight here for your pets

Experiencia fantástica: They treated my dog for routine/preventative care and my cat for an illness. The staff is kind and explains things thoroughly. They take the animal in the back for lab work etc, but won’t push or force because they want it to be a positive experience for the animal.. my dog was unhappy with the method of getting a urine sample so they asked if I was comfortable going home with a collection set instead. I appreciated that they didn’t want to restrain her to get it. I’m sure if it was critical to get that day that they would have though.

Experiencia fantástica: It was our first visit and I'm very impressed. The staff greeted us right away. They were very welcoming and kind. They have snacks and drinks and even pub cups which is amazing cuz it made my dog so happy to visit. Vet tech Pauline was so great, kind and sweet with my dog and explain things very well. Listened really well, same thing with Dr. Tia. She's awesome and I'm so happy we found a good place. Dr. Tia answered all my questions and concerns and gave me possibilities for what's going on with my dog. They don't add on extra charges. They show you exactly what they're going to charge you for before they do it. I think it's reasonable prices for vet care. And I think they actually care about your pet and aren't just trying to add on things to get more money. I'm very pleased and would definitely recommend.

Both my hands were injured but I needed to get my dog in as he had hurt himself playing and had a bad limp. The tecs helped me get him in and out of my truck. You can tell the staff here loves animals.

I like the way the vet teaches you about a diagnosis and suggests meds and procedures and then you get to see the price of everything so that you can figure out what you can afford based on your pet's needs.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Tia Vozdolska, DVM has been our vet for the past month to help out with our aging tabby, Nacho. He's around 15 and he's suffering from kidney disease and likely, cancer. Dr. Tia has been so incredibly helpful, practical, and responsive. I've been to about 5 vets in San Diego over the past 10+ years and they are definitely my favorite.

Today, Sunday, November 9th, 2025, I needed to call West Coast animal hospital because I was having emotional breakdowns with how Zoehy seems a bit distance from me and so my head started spinning at 100 mph thinking that she no longer loves me. So I called West Coast animal hospital and I had the opportunity to speak with Tori. Tori made perfect sense and explained everything in great detail for me to understand that it is going to be an adjustment for both myself and for Zoehy, especially after being away for more than 40 days. It was very heartfelt the moment that Tori mentioned about me being away because I had mentioned that at a earlier phone call 2 weeks ago and today she reminded me that I was away for those 40 days and an adjustment period needs to be within this adjustment period . Thank you Tori for making such a big difference and the way that I was feeling and after I finish speaking with you I realized that I was being hard on myself and I shouldn't be hard on myself. The bond that I have with Zoehy is very strong and I should remind myself of this bond if I ever am to have another emotional moment if I see Zoehy a little distant from me. I know Zoehy loves John, her babysitter, very much and I appreciate everything that John has done for Zoehy; and is doing for her; she has a lot of love and attention and she is getting plenty of it from both John and myself; different type of love and attention, but satisfying and fulfilling for Zoehy mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. West Coast Animal Hospital has very people representing West Coast Animal Hospital; the counseling I received from Tori really made a huge difference in how I will handle this type of emotion ever again. Zoehy and I are both blessed being part of West Coast Animal Hospital! I recommend West Coast Animal Hospital to several people I know and I hope they take up in my recommendation because I believe in West Coast Animal Hospital and have faith in their treatment and care for animals.

Experiencia fantástica: We started going here about 11 months ago for our new dog but quickly moved our other pets over to them, too. I love that they're able to usually get us in same-day for emergencies and normal appointments are never far out. Lots of clean seating in the waiting area. The staff, vets, and vet techs are all very kind towards humans and pets. When our elderly cat started getting sick, they made recommendations for tests and meds, but they were also willing to talk through alternatives as well. Price-wise they are much better than some other vets we have been to.

We were in and out in less that 20 minutes. We loved everything about the office, the vet, the support staff, the site, the parking, the waiting room, and the photo backdrop for the fall season. I am a pretty anxious, first time dog owner, with a dog-reactive, anxious pup, and we’ve had nothing but positive experiences here. The techs have been extremely patient and diligent when I’ve brought my dog in for vaccines and nail appointments. Dr. hodgson has been thorough in exams and never makes me feel rushed during appointments. Despite this being a popular office, I feel like it is easy to get an app quickly if necessary. I also feel like their prices are reasonable for SD.

Experiencia fantástica: I’m 80 and have had lots of pets. This is by far the best run veterinary practice I’ve experienced. Open 7 days a week with 7 vets plus fantastic support staff I can always get a timely appointment for top notch care. Prices are extremely reasonable.

They treated my cat Zora with such gentleness and made sure to pay attention to her body language during the visit so that she was as comfortable as possible. Experiencia fantástica: I’m always scared trying new vets when we move to a new area, but I felt very comfortable the second I walked in the door. The vet techs were so kind and friendly! The doctor was very gentle and patient with my dog. She explained all of my options very thoroughly and never once made me feel like I was forced into picking an expensive plan for my dog. She answered all of my questions and never made me feel rushed. I will definitely be taking my dog here in the future for her vet needs!

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve had great experiences at West Coast, from major surgery to ear infections. Their in house lab is quick and helpful when my pup isn’t feeling well. They always manage to squeeze us in for an appointment when it’s urgent. I drive out of my way to stick with them as our vet.

Experiencia negativa: I will start this review with I have been in the animal health field and wildlife rehab for over 35 years. I have worked with great vets and not so great vets. And I am well aware that mistakes happen and sometimes things just happen and I would never want to jeopardize a person career if unwarranted. That being said... I would never take my pet to this clinic The ethics are very much in question IMO- on May 14 my son's cat, Tobias went in for a routine dental. 24 hours later the cat was lying in a pool of urine, drooling excessively with labored and wet sounding breathing. my son called the clinic and was told by a vet tech that this was all normal for having a dental.(BTW it is not) the next morning the cat was found with cloudy eyes and unable to draw a breath that was not labored and dripping liquid. My son again called and they said yeah sound normal but send us a video, then they said yeah bring him by for a drive by- cat was admitted and 20 mins later was euthanized. reason...pneumonia, sepsis and pancitititis. this was 36 hours post dental on a cat that had been perfectly fine 37 hours prior by their own records. The vet who saw him on Emergency was not the dental vet, but he would not even talk about the reason why this was happening and why so close to a procedure performed at this clinic. This was on a Friday- I was able to get ahold of the clinic owner Dr. Gibbings, on Monday. After I told the story and asked her opinion, she advised that her clinic made no mistakes and they don't make mistakes. (I had told her I thought the cat was inadequately intubated causing fluid in the lungs. This was also the opinion of 3 other vets who I spoke to over the weekend and that had reviewed the xrays) . she advised that the cat had an underlying condition that caused this. she said a mass in the abdomen? I asked her where she was seeing the mass, as I also had the xrays and did not see anything. she then advised that she had not reviewed the records or xrays. I assume she was just going on what her staff had told her. I asked for her to review and get back to me. When she called back all she advised was she had sent this to her insurance and will not speak to me anymore. bottom line. the ethics of this clinic in my opinion are lacking to non existent. Medical care is non existent and I would warn anyone of this. This clinic is about money and only that. They even had the nerve to charge my son an emergency visit. when this was a post procedure visit. I will be transparent. Yes, I want my son's money back but I also want them to admit their fault in this. Heck Mistakes happen. no one is above that (apparently, they are according to Dr. Gibbings) But own it. I would have had the utmost respect if they had and I told her that up front. So go forth at your own risk with this clinic.

Experiencia fantástica: This is the only animal hospital I'll ever come to in San Diego. The vets don't push unnecessary treatments on your pets. They genuinely care for the well-being of your furry friends. They never rush visits and are eager to answer all questions, understanding that these are basically our kids we are bringing to them for care. Bloodwork results always come back quickly with an insightful analysis. Keep up the good work West Coast, I'll always recommend people to come here! Thanks for keeping my little guy happy and healthy!

Everything she needed, what her options were, and what to expect post surgery were clearly articulated. Experiencia fantástica: We have been taking our two kitties here for a few years now. All of the receptionists, nurse techs and doctors are knowledgable, patient, and kind. We have had 5-6 different doctors looking over our kitties and each one of them is fantastic, I never have to worry who will see them. We have one very loving kitty who doesn't mind being poked and prodded and one completely opposite, spicy kitty. They are amazing with both and we couldn't be more thankful! Huge shout out to our tech today, Marvette, who was so sweet and handled our spicy kitty with so much patience and love! Experiencia fantástica: I took my 2 lab mixes here for more than 3 years - the only reason I left is because I moved across the state. My dogs went through this vet for routine check ups, vaccinations, sprained legs, stomach issues, senior dog blood work, and dental cleanings. I was always very happy with the care provided here. I never felt like the vets tried to upsell me on “vet care packages” as other vets have done to me in the past. I felt like they truly want to help me find the best and most affordable options to care for my dogs. One of my dogs is also reactive to other dogs, and the team was always understanding/helpful in getting my dog in without the stress of interacting with other animals in the lobby. I highly recommend this vet!

Pricing is fair, scheduling is a breeze, and the vet techs are amazing. This place came highly recommended! But my shoutout goes to Dr. Benitez who has made a world of difference for my dog—after a year of ongoing infections, ER visits, and setbacks, she never gave up on her. Now, my pup is happy, healthy, and thriving. My wallet is relieved as well, lol. The facility itself is also spotless, which says a lot about their standards. The only downside has been occasional unpleasant interactions with the front desk staff—some attitude and lack of warmth at times. That said, I understand they’re likely under a lot of pressure, and working in animal care is no easy task. Don’t hesitate though, this clinic truly goes above and beyond.

We've seen several of the veterinarians and techs for visits, all of whom have been incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. They are very honest and transparent with their recommendations and cost of care. The waiting area and clinic rooms are spacious and always clean. Parking can sometimes be difficult as the area is a bit busy, but that has been the only downside.

Experiencia fantástica: Overnight my dog starting coughing and of course it was on a weekend. I tried calling multiple veterinary offices trying to avoid going to the emergency vet. This office is a little farther away than I would have preferred, but they answered the phone, had an appointment, weren’t overpriced and made sure to take good care of my pup. The staff was very friendly and warm. The vet and vet tech who helped us listened to my concerns, determined she had kennel cough and told me what to look out for in case it was getting worse as the days went on. They helped put my mind at ease and we are on the road to recovery. I was thankful to have found you and that you were open and available. Thank you!

You know how it goes: they're making sounds from their carrier that could double as the voiceover for the spawn of Satan, and you're trying everything—talking, singing, the radio, silence—just to keep them calm. What I love about West Coast Animal Hospital is the instant calm I feel as soon as I walk through the doors—a calm that my cat, Lorenzo, feels too. He's calm, mum's calm, we're all calm! The team there truly make all the difference. Their warmth, kindness, and efficiency meant that before we knew it, we were back home, another annual wellness exam successfully behind us! Experiencia negativa: Disappointed with my experience here. I was excited to try this vet after seeing the good reviews but I feel like this place is a money grab. I recently adopted a new kitten with pre-existing congestion and nasal discharge and scheduled a wellness visit to address this. I told the vet he has been on medication the past few months from the rescue shelter but has not improved. The vet, Dr. Young, recommended I stop his medicine and then contact them if it didn't get better so we could do testing. I called them after a couple weeks and now they want to charge me $85 AGAIN for another intake visit (even though my cat was there earlier in the month for this issue) plus the fees for the bacterial/viral testing. Upon complaint, they informed me that it "had been too long" since his last visit, which was just earlier this month. Dr. Young did not say this during my initial visit or else I would have ordered the tests right away since it had already been going on for months despite treatment. I'm frustrated and disappointed that this place purposely told me to wait and reach back out when they knew they would just charge me for another intake visit in only a few weeks past. To me, this shows that they just care about making more money and not about the actual pets or owners. Wouldn't recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been seeing this vet for three years. I have no complaints. They practice evidence based care. They will probably not be the ones to support a raw diet if that’s what you’re into. They have given me meds for my dog when she had separation anxiety and that was so helpful. We see Dr Young but have also seen Dr Coulson. We’ll continue to use this practice until we leave San Diego!

Experiencia fantástica: I wish I would’ve known about West Coast Vet hospital sooner. My dog kiwi split her dewclaw on a Sunday and they were able to see her same day for an urgent care visit. My dog has severe anxiety since, but the entire staff was so nice and took such good care of her. the inside was so nice and clean. I’m switching to this location for all of my dogs veterinary needs. I love how thorough and knowledgeable Dr. Pizarro is, it made me feel like my cat was very taken care of. I didn’t feel like the goal was to make as much money as possible, as some vets are like. She listened to my fears and didn’t rush me and she created the perfect treatment plan. This will be my new vet for both of my babies!

Making our initial appointment was convenient and easy through their online scheduling tool and when I needed to change it all it took was a quick email. Upon arrival they checked us in and within a few minutes we were called back. Chloe listened to my concerns and handled Pixel with care. When Dr. Young came in to give Pixel her exam she loved on Pixel and tried to make her comfortable. They fed her treats and did their best to make it a positive experience. Dr Young listened to my concerns and addressed all of them. We received all of the answers and solutions we were seeking when we set this appointment. In short, it was another five star visit to West Coast Animal Hospital!

I have scheduled with other doctors at West Coast but Dr. Pizarro is the best. She is caring, compassionate and knowledge doctor who understands the difficulty of caring for a senior pet. Experiencia negativa: I liked this place up until today. We took our dog to the vet last week for a wellness exam and we mentioned he had coughed several times. They never diagnosed him with anything but gave him antibiotics in case. They told us to call Sunday or Monday and get the Lepto vaccination that he wasn’t able to receive due to the cough, if he had improved. He improved so we called to see if we could get him vaccinated and they gave us a slot. As my husband was almost there for the vaccine, I got a call from the vet. We’re moving across country Tuesday, they said he “possibly” has kennel cough. Something that was never mentioned to us, and said he actually wasn’t able to get the vaccine. I brought up what we were told and she said, not very friendly, we were misinformed and we can’t bring him. This is one minute before the appointment starts which wasted our time. I texted my husband to turn around, she changed her mind, told him to come because the doctor had to decide even though I thought we already talked to a doctor and they said not to come? So I was switching his insurrections and I got so frustrated so I told them to call my husband. When he got there, they ushered him back outside as if our dog was a leper, even though there were no other animals in the waiting room. They told him it was kennel cough and my husband asked for clarification because again, we were never told. They said it couldn’t be ruled out, which is when my husband challenged it could be something irritating his throat, as suggested last week, because he’s not contagious. Our other dog never coughed so he wasn’t contagious to give it to her. We decided to just leave and find a new vet in our new state, even had we stayed we would’ve found a new vet. They were rude and honestly inconsiderate of our time. Not ever going back, thankfully!
