Experiencia negativa: TERRIBLE customer service from the receptionists. So RUDE! We suggest going to VEG on Duke st if it’s an emergency or Pender Vet in Fairfax for everything else. They also seem to be A LOT more affordable and sooo much nicer. We had a life threatening experience with our cat and he was basically hanging on by a thread. They charged us $2000 for bloodwork and a biopsy and we were told the results would be back in 24 hours. Then when we were anxiously waiting for the results the next morning to see if our cat needed IMMEDIATE additional testing to possibly save his life.. we had to call emmavet no less than 4 times throughout the day checking for the biopsy results. On the final call the receptionist told us that our doctor was off that day and they would get back to us in 24-48hrs!! This was after I had explained the seriousness of the situation. After that we called Pender Vet and the receptionist simply asked us to check the color of his gums. She said if they are white or grey to bring him in immediately! They were and we rushed our cat to Pender where he was basically in intensive care for a few hours and they were able give him fluids, steroids and to treat him for about $350 INCLUDING the emergency exam fee. The ONLY good experience we had a Emmavet was the Vet tech that actually seemed to care about our cat’s health. She was very compassionate and took the time to answer our questions. The doctor however basically printed out his bloodwork and gave it to us and did not stick around very long to answer any questions or concerns. She almost acted like we went to vet school and should understand the results!! Since then we have had to deal with emmavet twice to attempt to pick up his medication prescribed by Pender. Each time has been a hassle with this last time being the last straw where I decided to leave a review. The point of this review is a warning to anyone experiencing an urgent health issue with your pet. I’m sure Emmavet is fine if your pet is healthy.. just get ready to spend a ton! They obviously care more about $$$ than your pet, and the LACK of urgency on their part in critical situations is astounding..please give your hard earned money to other businesses that actually care.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been going here for years for my childhood cat, Daisy. Dr. Wootton found her kidney disease early and we were able to extend her life by switching up her food. I’m so thankful for her personalized care. I unfortunately had to make the difficult decision to euthanize her this week after nearly 18 years and Dr. Harrington was extremely empathetic and made Daisy as comfortable as possible. She was so kind and assured me that Daisy was in no pain and treated her with genuine care and the respect she deserved. Thank you to the entire team.

Experiencia positiva: I love the vets here as they are super knowledgeable, however a lot of the people in the front area and in that little office nook where the office manager is can be REALLY loud and often to the point my cat looks startled whenever we come when he’s never been startled like that anywhere else (startled me too). It can be particularly upsetting when you come in with a sick fur baby and everyone working there is laughing and talking super loudly when you’re softly crying to yourself out of worry. It feels really insensitive as even the office manager there can be loud. It’s great going somewhere where everyone seems to like each other, but can you do that a little less loudly? Every other vet I go to everyone speaks in a softer or at least a normal tone to not stress out the animals. You can tell it creates a weird environment in the waiting room. Staying because they’re the best at helping my cat’s medical condition, but PLEASE talk to your staff about this. It’s really jarring for everyone and the acoustics in the waiting room certainly don’t help. And I love fun bars and restaurants, but time and place people. Some people there are having an unexpected emergency with their best furry friend, or god forbid needing to go there for euthanasia. I can’t imagine hearing a bunch of laughing loudly talking people during something like that. I know it’s not intentional, but it comes off REALLY insensitive.

Experiencia positiva: Unlike every other veterinary clinic I have ever used in 24 years of owning dogs, EMMAvet does the examination of the dog and administers the shots while the owner is made to wait in the lobby. There was no consistency in which vet we saw, & if your pet needs anything other than a routine check-up, you are made to see an emergency vet, even during normal business hours. After we had been to the office numerous times for our 8 month old puppy’s diarrhea and vomiting, she was less than excited to be there and unwilling to go into the back with the staff (& without the security of her family) one more time. The vet had no patience for the puppy and sent her home after giving her medication to completely dull her reactions (which immediately added to her digestion issues) and put in her record that she could not come back for any further visits to the office (routine or emergency) unless she had been drugged with that medication. I found another vet and the puppy they deemed as unwelcome quickly learned to love going to the vet and is thriving.

Experiencia fantástica: This is by far the best urgent care vet I’ve been to in the area. They were able to get us in quickly and the process was seamless. Dr. Donovan was great with my dog, extremely thorough, and explained everything in an easy to understand way. I’d highly recommend coming here for any urgent care vet needs.

Experiencia fantástica: This experience with Ella, my Bluepoint Siamese (luxation of left elbow), was absolutely wonderful and everyone was so kind, caring, and helpful at EmmaVet. It makes me so very glad I gave EmmaVet a second chance after a horrid repeated experience with the same woman at the front desk via phone who was so indescribably beyond rude (re: my dog), I thought I’d never be back and I did not know how to report such an experience as she refused her name and would not put me through to anyone else even telling me if I’m not happy I should go elsewhere and she’d be more than happy to send me a list of alternative vets which SHE DID as if to thumb her nose at me. I stayed away for a while (a few years, I believe) and I really hope she’s gone now replaced with those whose demeanor is like those I experienced on 11/16. Dr. Donovan, Jason, the women behind the front desk and at the little desk in front of the counter were all the warmest and showed great compassion and care — same with those later responding to my emails. Thank you! Sharing photos of Ella on the heated throw resting, in the dog pen on restricted activity (poor thing) and curled up with her Seal Point sisters (Greta & Harli). Her brothers Ebbet and Noble are not pictured.

Experiencia fantástica: Everything was amazing! The front desk staff, Terry and Courtney were fantastic about explaining cost of services and before we had anything done, and the clinical staff, nurse Jason and Dr. Warren, handled our shy cat with such care, and were very reassuring and communicative throughout our entire visit. Experiencia fantástica: This clinic is great. My senior cat was having loads of issues, but he’s doing so well under the care of EMMAVET. He’s become a different cat since going there. It helps that there is a vet on staff that specializes in senior/geriatric cats. My cat and I are put at ease, and there are coffee and tea available in the waiting room. It’s in a shopping center so if diagnostics need to be done, you can buy groceries and pick up your pet once they are done.

Experiencia fantástica: We take all 4 of our kitties to EmmaVet. They are the absolute best veterinary I have ever worked with. The staff are extremely professional and very nice. Dr. Jessica Wooten is an angel. She knows kitties and we couldn’t be more thankful for her. I keep business cards in my purse to refer as many people to EmmaVet. I’m so thankful for the Urgent Care hours. It’s a lifesaver for pet owners. Keep up the great work!

Experiencia fantástica: I love the staff here. They are always so professional, knowledgeable, and supportive. They have treated both my pets for several urgent issues, and we have always had a positive experience. Everyone from the receptionists, techs, and doctors are all wonderful. I will say, they are a bit pricy. But I’ve tried other places and none have treated my babies so well.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Worn, Rachel and the entire staff at EMMAvet provided the best vet experience i’ve ever had. They were very welcoming and helpful with my dog’s situation. It was a simple UTI that my dog had, but the customer service they have provided were superb! They also offer military discount! I highly recommend this facility for anyone.

Experiencia positiva: Location is convenient and agree care was competent and professional; and when you get the bill you will find out the two if not three times higher then my vet who makes house calls. I would go here in an emergency but otherwise too boutique for my wallet.

Experiencia fantástica: We recently had to bring our elderly cat to the emergency vet late in the evening, and we were so grateful for the care she received. Even though there was only one doctor on duty, the wait time wasn’t too long. The entire team was knowledgeable and confident, which gave us trust in their abilities. They treated the abscess on our cat’s face with incredible patience and care, making sure she was as comfortable as possible throughout the process. It’s never easy bringing a senior pet in for an emergency, but the compassion and professionalism shown here made all the difference. Highly recommend this team for anyone in need of urgent veterinary care.

Experiencia positiva: I’ve been bringing my dog to Emma Vet for about a year now. When we first switched, I was really impressed. The staff was friendly, the communication was clear, and they helped coordinate care for my dog as he began facing more complex health issues. Their prices were also more reasonable than other clinics in the area, which made it easier to keep up with his ongoing needs. However, over the past several months, I’ve noticed a steady decline in service. We come in regularly for arthritis injections, usually at one of the first appointment times of the day. Despite that, we’ve repeatedly waited 40+ minutes past our scheduled time to be seen. It’s frustrating, especially when there doesn't seem to be an obvious reason for the delay and it’s becoming a consistent issue, not just a one-off. I really appreciated the care we received early on, but the lack of punctuality and growing disorganization are making it hard to feel confident in the clinic moving forward. I hope they can address these issues and return to the level of service that made me choose them in the first place.

I had hoped that my in person apology and attempt at making things right were well received. Extended wait times are rare and we are always looking for ways to improve.
Experiencia negativa: Absolutely terrible experience at the snobbiest vet I’ve ever been to. I was quoted a price for a medication that was excessive and I asked if there was a lower priced version. Lo and behold there was a medication that was $40 cheaper! When I asked that in the future they provide multiple options, the person helping me was nasty about it.
So sorry to hear about the issues you encountered and appreciate your feedback. We're always happy to work within all our clients' budgets, but the most effective medications are always going to be our doctors' first choice. Your comments will be reviewed to help improve our service.
Experiencia fantástica: We love EMMAvet and have been taking our two adult cats here since Dr. Gardiner joined the practice a few years ago. Everyone is kind and responsive, from the desk staff, the vet techs, and the doctors. One of our cats (the tortie) esecially loves going to EMMAvet to get pets from all of her friends. We highly recommend EMMAvet!

Experiencia fantástica: I do not like to write reviews, good or bad, for anyone. I am a private person. Especially when it comes to my fury kids. However, I want to talk about my experience. I have a total of 7 cats and dogs. Most with unique cases that require specialized care. I have gone to Emma Vet since 2023 for many of them. And the care from the leadership down is truly amazing and cost effective. They all go above and beyond what your standard vet clinic will offer. Even the front desk, Courtney and Belky, have always been responsive in getting me information (quickly) on best practices at home and best way to help maintaining the quality of life for them. Emma has never tried to over bill me for things I don't need (unlike other vets). Emma gets to the issue. Last time, my tripod fell down the stairs and I wanted X-rays. The vet said no need. She was able to varify it was just a muscle issue and helped him recover. Saving a lot of money and time. Dr Wooten for the cats is the best move you can ever make. She specializes in feline health. She is passionate and I wish I found her years ago! Every member of the Emma team I have seen in emergency visit and standard appointment have been professional, knowledgeable, and follow through to the end of the care. If you love your pets as I do, this clinic is worth the time to go. And I know all the new furry members of my family will go straight to the Emma Vet family!

Experiencia fantástica: The staff and Dr. Wooten were efficient, kind, and showed genuine care and expertise with my sweet fur baby. Dr. Wooten offered several pain management options for my 11-year-old tabby’s hind leg lameness, options no other vet had ever even suggested, let alone provided solutions for. I also love that EMMAvet is a full hospital, which meant they could move quickly from diagnosis to treatment. Since our little nugget has a large tumor, that time savings was especially important to us. I couldn’t be more grateful for the thoughtful care we received- highly recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: Really wonderful urgent care, lucky to have EMMAvet and Dr. Jarvinen in the neighborhood. I took my dog to EMMAvet twice for what appeared to be a worsening digestive issue. On our 2nd visit, my dog was seen by the practice owner, Dr. Jarvinen, who quickly suspected there was something more serious going on. Dr. Jarvinen kindly examined her, quickly ran tests, did imaging, administered ultrasounds, kept me up to date on everything, and then got my dog admitted to a nearby emergency room. I think without her intervention we wouldn't have ultimately discovered my dog's cancer for a while longer. Obviously cancer is not the diagnosis anyone wants to get but I'm really grateful to Dr. Jarvinen and EMMAvet for giving my pet such good care and helping to facilitate her transfer to the hospital. It's by no means an inexpensive urgent care but they're definitely the best one I've been to yet.

Experiencia fantástica: Very grateful for this care team, but especially Natalie, who went above and beyond! The staff was very transparent about not having the resources on site that my dog’s emergency required. Despite that, Natalie still came out to the car to check my dog’s vitals and provide some insight and advice. She was so caring and really calming. Natalie, I’m so appreciate of your compassion and dedication to a doggy patient you’d never even met! We will definitely utilize this practice for any future pets we may have. Thank you!

Experiencia negativa: Office is very cute but I will never go back . Not a pleasant experience or respect from the vet , DVM Emma Watts. Had to do a physical exam but no weight taken , and stayed unable to look at teeth due to pet not cooperative . Debris noted in left ear but not told about it till I received her notes 5 hours later . Could we clean out her ear , weighed her . Not very personal with owner or pet . Suggest to put her to sleep to have her nails done or consider surgery to fix her breathing issues . Sounds like human doctors looking to go for the big buck s. Office manger of course took her side and hung up on me . If you love your pet as I love mine as a child I would look elsewhere

While we strive to accomplish secondary requests such as nail trims when clients request them, it's not always possible--especially if the process could harm your pet or put them through undue stress. Here at EMMAvet if our patients are stressed beyond what is reasonable we come up with another solution that makes the nail trim safe and less traumatic. I'm sorry that our team's suggestions were not what you were looking for. We wish you and Lexus the best.
Experiencia fantástica: Very caring veterinarian for my aging cats and willing to work with me to keep the care as affordable as possible, given the costs in the area. I have not had to use it yet, but like that they have an affiliated urgent care. Highly recommend.

Experiencia negativa: This vet office is convenient because they are urgent care as well but this last experience i had was awful. First i called to get my dog in urgently because he had diarrhea and blood on his bottom. They called me back 3 hours later! I had already been seen thankfully at an actual URGENT care. I then took him back Thursday because i wanted some peace of mind and my dog was still sick with diarrhea. They ran labs all normal and pending a fecal. They treated him with diarrhea medicine and fluids. Friday i call because my dog isn’t eating and i very much can tell he is nauseous. I asked if they will send him nausea medication and they refuse. They also never called to tell me he tested positive for hook worms but insist this is not what’s going on with my dog and i need to go to the ER. I call the Er and they think is ridiculous they are sending him there for not eating one day and asked me to get nausea medicine for them i call back and the Dr refuses again very ridiculous. I paid $800 yesterday to this vet office to treat him for them to keep insisting he has Addison disease which all his labs are normal. Needless to say we won’t be returning to this office. First not taking care of my dog second there’s no urgency at this place. Then the front desk lady wants to argue with me when i get here and tell me “ we care about the pet that’s why we won’t give it” so i don’t care about my pet because i want to make him comfortable? How exactly is a nausea medication going to hurt my dog? Just ridiculous
Experiencia fantástica: Had to wait a few minutes to get our kitties seen but the wait was worth it! From the admin ladies, to our vet tech, to Dr Wooten it was a very good visit and more importantly our kitties liked it!! Of course they didn't get any shots so it made it all the best for them!!

Experiencia fantástica: We came home from vacation to find my cat’s eye was swollen and I didn’t think I should wait until Monday to see our regular vet. Everyone at Emma was so kind and helpful. I was expecting to pay double or triple a normal vet bill for the benefit of seeing a vet at 10 on a Saturday night, but it was only slightly more than my usual vet. I would definitely recommend this practice.

Experiencia fantástica: In May I brought in a stray kitten our dog had pulled out of the bushes. We were worried that she was hurt, and the great team at EMMAvet prioritized seeing her right away. While we were waiting for the results I was chatting with the receptionist Shannon who was just so lovely and helpful. I explained how I couldn’t keep the kitten but wanted to find her a home if possible, and she offered to connect me with a rescue that could assist. I really appreciated her offer to help and her kindness in that moment when I was so concerned about the kitten's future. I’m happy to say that she made a full recovery and found a great forever home! She is thriving and I’m so happy for her. Thanks to Shannon and the rest of the EmmaVet team for helping her get her new life started off on the right foot!

Experiencia fantástica: Our senior dog needed to be seen on a Friday night for pretty clear signs of a UTI. Since it was a holiday weekend, we couldn’t wait until Tuesday for our primary vet. We were seen as soon as we walked in and the staff were wonderful. Connor and Dr. Worn were so nice - my dog even walked to the back with Dr. Worn without me having to follow along so I knew he felt comfortable. We were ready to go home in about an hour with medicine, which is amazing for urgent care. We are grateful to have this practice close by.

Experiencia fantástica: I'm so thankful for EMMAvet. My Maltese poodle mix was attacked by my neighbors Great Dane. I rushed my dog over to EMMAvet and they accepted us right away although they were very busy and booked up. Everyone was so nice, supportive, and caring. It was a short wait before we were initially seen, but the staff kept us informed. They performed a quick check on my dog and gave him something topical for the pain while we waited for the Vet to be available for a more thorough exam. They checked in while we waited for the Vet and made sure we were both comfortable. Once the Vet performed her examination they provided the estimate and detail explanation, the Vet even took the time to show me a meal prep website I can use for my dog's home cooked meals. The level of care and service we received was phenomenal and comforting after what we just had experienced. If you're looking for caring and professional service this is the location for you. I wish the doctors that cared for us humans were as exceptional as Dr. Donovan and team.

Experiencia fantástica: One of my two dogs ran through a hornets nest in the woods of Prince William Forest Park. By the time I got near my home in Old Town, she was breaking out in hives. I called EMMAvet to see if they had some space. I’m not sure they really did…I’m thinking they just knew I was…my dog was…more than stressed. They took her back in right away and treated her. Her allergic reaction was stopped in its tracks. Super response. Super customer service. Super staff. Highly, highly recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: Really great vet office, staff were so friendly and helpful in getting our dog in promptly to treat a dog bite. Dr. Sydney was so sweet and caring towards our dog and gave clear instructions on post visit care for our dog. I really liked how the rooms had couches instead of chairs. Makes for waiting in stressful situations much more comfortable. I hope to not need urgent care vet services again, but if I did, I'd come back here!

The fees that we charge here at EMMAvet do reflect the level of care that our patients and their people receive. It's never "just" a pill and an x-ray, there are lots of hard working doctors, nurses, receptionists, etc that we compensate fairly as well as equipment costs and so much more that keeps us open and ready to help when neccesary!
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Erin Donovan was the best! We had all three dogs get into a bad batch of food. All three were sick and lethargic and given their sizes it was hard to take all three in. They advised to bring on sick pup in and then we start from there. Given they all had the same symptoms and issues, it was determined it may have been their food. Dr. Donovan put us on a bland diet protocol, meds and we were out the door. While a bit expensive I would pay it again and again to have that same care and attention! Thanks to Emma-Vet all three pups are on the mend!

Experiencia fantástica: On this occasion (there have been previous ones), I came home from a trip and one of our cats had this abrasion on his neck. Seems to have been caused by his scratching in this one spot. EmmaVet got us in right away on a Saturday evening, and Dr. Donovan was wonderful even though our cat had to wear the Cone of Shame for a week.

The whole staff, from the person who answered the phone and instructed me clearly on procedure, to the person who received my cat at the door, to the thorough and professional care of Dr. Wootton, treated me and my cat with respect, care and attention. I watched also as attendants received other animals with gentle affection. I have decided to continue to bring my cat to this wonderful practice. I am glad to have found them. Experiencia fantástica: If I could give EMMAvet 10 stars I would. This past week has been a nightmare for my poor fur baby. Shadow was in agonizing pain and they informed me that he dislocated his hip. He was in so much pain that he was even crying through sedation. They immediately prioritized him and took him back despite being heavily backed up. They performed an emergency closed reduction and prescribed him the right medication to supress him pain. They've followed up on multiple occasions to see how he was doing following the procedure. He hasn't been in pain since. It's so hard to find veterinarians and a staff who truly care and not just doing it for a paycheck. We've been taking Shadow to EMMAvet since he was a puppy and he's 9 now. They also provide primary care and physical therapy. I would HIGHLY recommend EMMAvet for anyone looking for a reliable vet/urgent care.

Experiencia fantástica: Outstanding care and caring provider of veterinary services. My poor pup, Gigi, was attacked by a dog yesterday. She was bitten on her head, ear and throat. Blood everywhere and when it wouldn't stop bleeding, I took her to the animal hospital. She received excellent treatment and is now resting at home with me. As a PSA, please if you have reactive dogs, ensure they get properly trained to ensure safety for both human and pets. It's not fair that she got attacked, but I blame the owners for 1. Not addressing poor behavior before through proper training and 2. Getting so close to other passerbys that it endangers physical safety of others. Now my pup is traumatized and hurting badly. She is on meds to help her heal, recover and cope with pain. She is fatigued but the good news is she will be okay over the next few weeks thanks to EmmaVet! Highly recommend!!

Experiencia negativa: The staff here deserves 5 stars. They are very kind, welcoming and respectful. With the excellent service I get in general for my dog, I was disappointed by their billing procedure, and associated fees. One of my dog's vaccines falls out of the normal annual vaccination cycle due to timing. This is my dog’s primary care vet (her annual was earlier this year). When I did this out of cycle vaccine here, the bill was an unpleasant surprise. I was charged two separate “service fee” items and a “consumables fee” on top of the actual vaccine itself when I am the one who injected the vaccine in her mouth. The bill ended up being more than double the cost of the vaccine itself. Her prior vet only charged for the out of cycle vaccine cost but no service fees. I found this to be very disappointing as staff-wise, this place is phenomenal.
Thank you for your feedback. As much as we wish everything could be free, the veterinary field is a service industry. Those nurses and client service representatives you encountered, who were so lovely to you, do not work for free. The reason our team is filled with A+ compassionate people is they are compensated fairly for the work they do. Your other veterinary clinic may lump their fees into one part of their exam fee or other line item. These line items are all charged to our clinic, as they are services provided from another company (biohazard disposal, for example, is not performed on-site!). Unfortunately, it costs money to run the clinic. Should this change in the future, we will happily follow suit!

Experiencia fantástica: My senior Pittie ate some things he shouldn’t have causing him to vomit and act very strangely. The EMMAVet team were AWESOME through and through in their response - from my initial, panicked phone call to his speedy, affordable treatment. There was no wait and everything took less than an hour. Check-in was easy. They were extremely transparent with pricing and explained the bill, as well as the treatment and everything they were doing in great detail. They provided instructions on how to keep him comfortable at home as well and things to watch out for. He even got a to-go treat bag for being such a good boy! The clinic itself is clean and adorably decorated. Couldn’t have asked for anything better. No critiques at all. Highly recommend and would definitely return again.

Experiencia positiva: Overall friendly staff. However I was told to come to a follow up appointment because they said they were concerned about my dog’s surgical site and they charged me for the visit. I wasn’t told ahead that I would be charged or I would not have gone. It was a different vet than the one I had spoken to before. They also put a dressing on my dog’s tail twice the first time without telling me the cost and the second time without asking. They charged 75 dollars for each small dressing that promptly fell off in the car. The overall take away is, the staff likes what they do, but they need to be more transparent in the cost of services. Just because I brought my pet to an urgent care for surgery doesn’t mean I’m made of money. Get pet insurance…

Experiencia fantástica: We brought our 12 year old mini poodle tonight because he and our female chihuahua mix got into a fight a few days prior and he was showing signs of pain in his left arm. We had no wait and all of the staff were so kind to us and our boy, there were no hidden fees, they didn't try to milk us with unnecessary tests, the vet was up front with what she wanted to do and the price and told us if she didn't have to do some of the things on the estimate she'd let us know and take them off the bill They also have a 10% military discount as well. For an urgent care they were wonderful and extremely affordable, testing done in house and full body exam to double check. He ended up being okay thank God and he was happy when we left and seems in good spirits now that we are home. We can't thank the team here enough for checking out our baby and treating him with kindness and love, just like ge was one of their own. I will definitely recommend and come back if the need ever arises!

Experiencia negativa: I brought my cat to EmmaVet based on a recommendation from my normal vet as they could not see him on for an urgent care visit. Things seemed fine at first. I was actually seen by the owner Dr. Veronica Jarvinen and when I asked if she is familiar with taking care of cats she replied with "I like cats". That remark seemed strange but I let it go as I was already there and very concerned about my cats well being. While feeding my cat on the floor, I noticed some dried blood spots and mentioned that and the Dr. didn't seemed to be concerned with the uncleanliness of the floor and continued with the examination. After the exam, it was determined that perhaps there was some pain associated with his hind legs so she prescribed a pain medicine. She left to get the medicine and never returned. No goodbye or anything. Instead a vet tech returned with the medicine. I left to check out where I was basically ignored for 5 minutes until one of the three who were sitting out front finally acknowledged me. The next day I received a follow up email from them (they couldn't be bothered to call unlike my vet). I called them back to let them know I was still concerned because my cat was still not eating and he had thrown up almost immediately after having given him the pain medication the night before. The woman who answered the phone said she would pass along the message. They never called back. The following day I called them again because my cat was still not eating nor using the litter box. I told the woman who answered that no one every called me back and she sort of brushed it off. She then told me that they wouldn't be getting back to me until 3 pm, which was hours away. I decided to go to a different place as my vet recommended not to wait until 3 pm. EmmaVet actually called while I was at a new urgent care vet and I told them I went somewhere else and she was like ok, let us know if we can help. My initial visit to EmmaVet was on a Wednesday. By Saturday, my cat had passed. On Monday, I decided to responded to their follow email they sent and let them know that I was disappointed in their service/care they provided to my cat. A few days later I received a phone call from who l believe was the office manager to follow up with my complaint. The call didn't go so well. Even after I told her my cat passed she didn't seem very empathic. Instead she asked what other vet I went to in order to update my cat's file. Through the duration of the call she asked me several times "What can we do for you". Apparently nothing because when I said something about the exam she got defensive and it felt like she was accusing me of turning down doing blood work to which I pulled out my report from them and read exactly what the vet wrote. And then she had the nerve to say that's why I'm here for you to vent. Her tone the whole time was very cold. Sadly, it really felt like that could care less about my experience with them.

Experiencia fantástica: the entire staff shows kindness and affection to my dog. We came in years ago on a weekend emergency and immediately changed our primary care veterinarian. Our dog actually enjoys seeing the office and we have never been worried about his care at Emmavet. Experiencia fantástica: I had to bring a young kitten there 5 days ago and oh my I’m sooooo glad I went. I had heard about them before and a few years ago I tried to take my very ill cat there but they could not see her, it was the tail end of the pandemic and things were still so crazy and weird. They had me register online and call back, they then told me to come right in. They were fantastic, we went straight into an exam room and the vet tech started doing the assessment. We saw Dr. Sydney Harrington and she was phenomenal. She was wonderful w the kitty and explained everything to me and I knew we were in good hands. I can’t say enough good things about the whole experience. The waiting area, which I hardly even had to use Was clean and very nice, the exam rooms were clean. All of the staff was just wonderful and accommodating. Even though an emergency vet visit was obviously not where I wanted to be, they made everything ok. I’d HIGHLY recommend them to anyone. Working in rescue I have had some not so great experiences and this was FAR from that. Thank you Dr Harrington for being sooooooo amazing

Experiencia fantástica: My sweet tabby cat died on Sunday and his normal vet was closed. I called around and most places didn’t even answer the phone! Then, I called Emmavet. The sweetest voice answered the phone and though she needed to put me on hold initially, she permitted me to ask my heartbreaking questions about storing my baby until his vet opened. I can’t explain how kind she was on the phone, she didn’t say too much but her tone put me at such ease. I believe she was also the sweet woman that greeted me when I arrived and took my baby back for his final exam. The team was so gentle and understanding that I was barely making it, having to navigate those moments while processing such a huge loss. She sat me in a private room, even shed a tear with me, and let me know my options even though she knew we were taking my boy somewhere else. And I’m so glad she did because she set a standard that I made the other company rise to. When I came back for my Samson, they had put him in a box. (I had him wrapped up in my hoodie and some blankets) They made sure to keep my baby in my hoodie which was so important to me. They also put hearts on the box, hand drawn, which I truly loved because he isn’t just something to be tossed aside. Those hearts made me feel that they understood just how important to me and my family he really is. I don’t do reviews often but I too work with animals and I know how thankless the job can be. With my whole heart and that of my family’s, thank you. The team took care of me and my boy like he was their own even with him never having been there before a day in his living life. Thank you ladies. I will forever be indebted to you all for cushioning the blow of losing my special boy. May God bless you endlessly for being a light on one of my darkest days. Thank you. Forever.

Experiencia positiva: We used Emmavet one night when we suspected our boy cat had a blockage. He has a 2 year history of stress induced crystals. The staff were waiting on us when we arrived and directly took our kitty for assessment. After a few minutes we were ushered into an exam room with the tech and vet. The vet started asking questions about our kitties behavior in regards to urinating. And we were answering to the best of our ability, we have several cats and answers aren't always a certainty. In the middle of answering she blurts out that she hates to interrupt but he is in dyer need and time is of the essence. She tells us that they close in an hour and the cost of service, and that we would need to transfer him, etc. I tell her that we are willing to pay and yet she keeps on explaining and then tells us we can go make payment so they can treat our cat. After sitting for about 30 minutes without any word for staff or anyone I started to boil. She should have opened our discussion with the fact that he was fully blocked and we needed to talk fast. As well, we paid a 100+ dollar transfer fee and had to drive our cat across town once they closed. They should have referred us to the ER vet that was 14 hour to begin with. It all was a lackadaisical experience for me. I am thankful they were able to unblock my cat. And at a relatively competitive cost. But, disappointed they never called to see how he was or follow up and that they wasted precious time and initiated ill will by abruptly cutting us off and making us feel we did wrong by trying to answer the questions. I would go here again, as I believe it was the bedside manner of the NEWish vet that is offputting. Have a thick skin! UPDATE TO RESPOND: I am sorry, I should be clearer, EMMAVet didn't charge a transfer fee, the 24 hour vet did. I appreciate your well wishes! Would mean a little more if you had called to follow up on him 3 weeks ago when this happened :-) You guys can do better.

I'll ask you to review your invoice and find that there is no "transfer fee" charged at the visit. We only charged for services and medications used to treat your kitty. There is no such thing as a transfer fee. We truly hope that your kitty is recovering well after his urinary obstruction!
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Richardson and the staff at the Belle View EmmaVet took very good care of my Rocco when he injured his tail, and explained the treatment and costs to me clearly and thoroughly. Experiencia positiva: I normally have a great experience at this vet, but last visit I didn't. Some of receptionists are very friendly, some are very unfriendly. Not to mention I had to wait an hour for no reason—After the vet already saw my pet. I thought they were getting meds for me, so I tried to be patient, but after 20mins I asked the receptionist and she was very cold and rude. I requested my cat get nausea meds bc he has urinary disease and a history of vomiting every few weeks. That was denied even though they have done it before. So the answer is come in there every few weeks and waste $300 each time? No thanks, that's very unreasonable.

Experiencia fantástica: This is my second emergency visit to EMMAvet, two different dogs; two different years. I was very happy with my first visit, hence my second. The EMMAvet practice at Belleview is very professional, friendly and thorough. The front desk staff is kind and efficient, brought a gurney out for my senior, injured dog. My vet kept us continually updated with any new findings and generally how our girl was doing. The staff there are very compassionate. When my pet started to feel stressed they brought her to be with us while we awaited test results. I hate having emergencies but this is my first choice to bring my pets if and when I do.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog Sammy had an ear infection and our regular vet couldn't see him for a week. I was able to get in to EMMAvet that evening and get some ear medication. I am very grateful that EMMAvet exists near me! All the staff were courteous and professional. They called me when they were ready to see me and I was there less than an hour. I would highly recommend them if you have a pet illness that can't wait.

Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely love it here. I had to bring my fur baby in over the weekend. They were so accommodating with urgent care. When you call they will put you on the list and give you a call when it's time for you to come so you don't have to wait around. The office is nice and clean and all of the staff members are friendly faces. This was my 2nd visit and I will now make this my fur babies primary I live in southern maryland but it is absolutely worth the commute

Experiencia fantástica: We've always had a good experience here since we got our cat a year ago. We've taken him for regular checkups as well as one urgent visit. The facilities are always clean and the staff is very helpful. They will also follow up and make sure our pet is doing well after the visit which I really appreciate.

Experiencia fantástica: An edit to my below review. The staff at EMMAVet provided me exceptional comfort and compassionate as I said goodbye to my soul dog today. I cannot say enough about how wonderful they are. I have used the EMMAVet urgent care twice, and both times their service and compassion has been excellent. Being able to call, explain the issue, and wait at home until they are ready to see your pet is the best. The office is mellow and there’s very little waiting once you’re there, and the staff explains everything thoroughly and kindly. I highly recommend!

Experiencia negativa: I came in without calling at first because my dog was having an emergency, which apparently, was my mistake. I tried to be as calm and patient as possible due to my stress with my dog, but the lady at the front desk, Sharon, was rude to me and barely acknowledged me. After this, I was told that they didn't have space for my dog and that I should have called first. They clearly didn't care and she barely listened to what was going on with my dog. I said that I would go to the next nearest hospital but she told me not to go anywhere else without calling, even though my dog is having an emergency. Apparently, this really struck a nerve with her that I didn't bother calling. I was hoping for a little bit more empathy. This was a horrible experience and I don't plan on ever coming back.

Experiencia fantástica: The whole staff is so welcoming and calming, especially if your pet is in an emergency. My puppy LOVES going to EmmaVet! Everyone is kind and loving toward her. She is excited to see everyone - receptionists, technicians, assistants, nurses and vets! The facility is impressive - they have great technology and can do most tests on the premises while you wait. My only issue is that it is expensive, but I suppose all good vets are! I highly recommend EmmaVet!

Experiencia fantástica: Emmavet is the best Vet within 25 miles of my home! I take all 3 of my dogs there as well as my cat. Their customer service is top notch and their knowledge is 5 stars! My pup, who was recovering from neutering (with our previous vet) was given antibiotics that were causing him bowel issues. We had called the previous vets helpline with no actionable response other than to monitor him. A couple days later we brought him in to EmmaVet for a second opinion and they said that his symptoms were clear signs that he was not reacting well to the medication and they should have told us to immediately stop administering it to him. If it wasn’t for EmmaVet our pup probably wouldn’t be alive today because of our previous vet’s negligence. Now I won’t take our pets anywhere else!
