Experiencia negativa: As a longtime pet owner, I have never encountered the level of indifference I experienced with Hidden Valley Animal Hospital. Our older dog had been sick and was being treated through another vet. After weeks of difficulty getting a clear diagnosis and the right medication, we decided to switch to Hidden Valley based on their strong reviews. We had already transferred her records over ahead of scheduling her first appointment. About a month later, she developed a fever and labored breathing late one Sunday evening. We took her to an emergency clinic, where she was stabilized and we were advised to follow up with our primary vet first thing Monday morning. I called Hidden Valley as soon as they opened, described her symptoms in detail and made clear how serious her condition was. I was told to go back to the emergency vet. There was no follow-up questions, no guidance, and no acknowledgment of the severity of what I had just described. For a receptionist to hear those symptoms and respond with a simple redirect -with no concern and no attempt to consult with a veterinarian -was stunning. My impression was that because we had not yet had an in-person appointment, she was still considered a new patient despite having transferred her records. If that was the policy, a brief explanation delivered with even a small degree of empathy would have gone a long way. Instead, a sick dog in urgent need of care was turned away without a second thought. We understand that schedules fill up and emergencies are difficult to accommodate. What is harder to understand is the absence of basic compassion. Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable entrusting them with my pet’s care.

Experiencia fantástica: I had to put my sweet black kitty Toothless down earlier this year in January 2, 2026. He was only 11 years old and was diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Szabo and his staff were very helpful and caring to allow for me to have an appointment. My late Mother Carol Theberge and my late Grandmother June Jean had always gone to Dr.Szabo or to Dr.MacCormick for their pets. I truly trust those folks and the team as well for my personal pets health.

When asked to schedule him for a trim (he gets medicine to keep him calm) I was told that all groomers are booked till the end of this year… ??? This is January, the beginning of the new year!!! Feels like a little white lie, why not be honest and tell me your dog is too difficult for our staff??

Experiencia fantástica: i drove from Graham (about an hour and a half drive) to go to this vet office as i had used them when i lived in Raleigh previously. i really didn't trust anyone near me to do the careful grooming my Charlie needed. even tho i was very late arriving due to not being accustomed to driving on I-40 during morning rush hour, Joy at the front desk showed me excellent customer service by finding a vet tech to help me, and Charlie was taken care of. in case you haven't had the same experience i have had, very few employees seem to know what customer service is anymore so this was greatly appreciated. we didn't see her this time but, when i was living in Raleigh, Dr. Berry was a responsive and excellent vet as well. i really, really wish i lived closer.

Experiencia fantástica: update: We just took Millie in for her second grooming with Kristen and she is so good with Millie. Millie is a rescue and doesn't trust people much yet, but Millie seems to know that Kristen is OK! Everyone there is just as nice as can be and we have our grooming visits lined up for the next year as well as a wellness check next month with vaccinations. This was our first visit to Hidden Valley and our new rescue dog's new patient visit. Dr. McCormac took so much time to make sure that Millie was more comfortable with her exam and went over everything we could expect after what Millie has been through (it was a lot, she almost died from neglect). She answered all our questions and was just so good with Millie. The front desk folks were very kind and friendly, too. Prices were reasonable for everything. We only waited a few minutes before we were taken to an exam room. The facility is small but very clean and neat, with separate entrances for dogs and cats (I like that!). I've already set up appointments for Millie to be groomed there. My daughter also takes her 6 month old puppy there and has been very pleased with his care.

Experiencia fantástica: dr. berry, as always the knowledgeable, reassuring, yet cutting edge veterinarian was of great help to me monday. she and all staff understand disabilities and disorders, in my case panic. she understands my need for a plan with my dig and doesn't scare me with unnecessary far reaching what if's i can always depend on all of hv to be in tune to the person as well as the patient. this is so lacking in many clinic. again 5 stars for dr. berry and hidden valley.

Experiencia fantástica: We have had our pets going here since 1989. A few things have changed like it used to be like a house with a dog pen in the back with one big chocolate lab that was the blood donator for the dogs that needed blood. Now it's a little strip mall but still great people that work there and do a fantastic job with our animals. They don't have overnight staying anymore like they used to which we do miss because if we went on a vacation for a week we trusted them very much. Now we have no place to place our pets for a few days or an emergency. On October 16th 2025, we had to go there early in the morning for emergency for our dog that fell 3 ft to the ground at 16 years old our little shih Tzu. They took us with no issue and took X-rays everything and thank God it's more need painkillers nothing broken, and Dr. Barry is fantastic and always has been with our animals. And we live all the way down South Raleigh and this is in North Raleigh where we used to live and we still go there that's how good this place is. Very caring people.

I love them so much that when I moved away from Raleigh, I still travel back 2 hours for their services. I am not exaggerating when I say the entire Team at Hidden Valley is family to me!!! I cannot believe how easy and low stress the doctors, techs, and front office staff have made our visits here. The separate entrances for cats and dogs helps a lot too. They do not try to sell you on services or products you don’t need. The doctors are super knowledgeable—I care VERY deeply for my fur babies and their health, and I trust these vets 100%. Everyone here really cares about you, your pet, and their health. I cannot recommend Hidden Valley enough. I will never take my pets anywhere else.

Never feel rushed and, if it wasn't just a routine visit ,they always follow up by phone or email to make sure everything is going Okay . I’d love to know their hiring process, because I have never met an employee here that was less than extremely friendly and professional and happy to see me and my dog. The actual appointments are quick and most the time we’re seen early, and they even have advised me on what tests they don’t recommend based on my dogs health to save money. I always leave this place feeling happy and taken care of. I don’t know how cost compares to the other local vets, and I don’t care, because these people are so nice I won’t go anywhere else.

Experiencia fantástica: Update as of September 2,2025: One of my senior cats had to be euthanized last week at Hidden Valley and I commend them for giving me the time I needed to make the decision, while helping me to attend to the veterinary needs of my other senior cat. Anyway, I thank Dr.MacCormac and the entire front office staff for being so supportive and caring which helped me immensely through this difficult time. Hidden Valley Animal hospital has helped me to regain confidence in the veterinary experience. Dr.MacCormac is excellent for making recommendations for senior cats. In general, this was the first time I did not feel as if my cats should be euthanized just because they are old. She provided compassionate and comprehensive care for my animals and I’m looking forward to continuing the healing process with her.

Dr. Szabo and his staff were exceptional in their care of our dogs. Every person we encountered during our visit was professional and very kind to our dogs. Dr. Szabo answered fully all of our questions and made recommendations concerning our dogs' health and welfare. We left the practice feeling very confident that our dogs were in extremely good hands.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog is 16 years old and has had chronic urinary issues all her life I noticed swelling i In the creases of her leg during a routine bath. After googling it, I called and made an appointment right away as it turned out it was her lymph node After a little investigation, we decided to do a urine culture as it turns out she had a raging UTI. She was put on a strong anabiotic and recheck urine.

I've been taking my two kitties there for about 3 years and they are honest and upfront about cost, kind and patient with the animals, and very communicative with the pet owner. I see Dr. Soares, and she has been great about establishing plans of care for both of my animals and has been amazing to work with!

Experiencia fantástica: We found hidden valley several years ago and began taking both of our dogs to them for primary care as well as emergencies. We lost one dog at age 17 and one just shy of 15, and throughout most of their lives their received treatment and care at HVAH. I cannot overstate how good of a vet HVAH is. They doubtless contributed to the long lives of both of our pets and will for our pets in the future. In particular, Dr Berry, Dr V, and Dr. Sabbadish, as well as front staff Sarah, Morgan, Joy, Allison, and techs Gabe and Ozy all demonstrate the care and love for animals they deserve and we are glad to have found hidden valley and everyone that works there. I don't have enough kind words for HVAH but hope this will suffice.

Experiencia fantástica: Kennedy recently had his teeth cleaned, Dr. Szabo was just excellent with exceptional care for both Kennedy and myself. I stayed during the procedure, Dr. Szabo came in the room and provided constant updates. Once we were home Dr. Szabo continued to call almost every hour until closing. The next day Dr. Szabo was off, he had explained that if we needed anything to contact the office. On Wednesday morning Dr. Szabo, who was off for the day, called to check on Kennedy. Dr. Szabo called again on Thursday and I will forever be grateful for the great kindness he showed towards both Kennedy and I. I attached photos Tuesday(@the vet) Wednesday and Thursday at home…my boy is much better and much healthier thanks to Dr. Szabo.

I was told that there was an emergency that came in and the doctor would be in as soon as possible. Everyone we met in the hallways even took the time to wait for my permission to pet her, which was a small detail but meant a lot to me. Coda was loving all the attention though, so she had a great time once people started interacting with her, she started to relax and feel more comfortable, and of course I adore her so it made me feel good to see how affectionate everyone was with her. I was worried about how she would react to her vaccinations but they took care of everything for me, and let me know she did great with them, so that made me feel a lot better. They made me feel good about my kitten and about bringing her in to them, I was afraid of getting judged for it being her first visit at her age, but they were awesome and made us both feel welcome. They seem very knowledgeable and I am happy to have such a great resource for my precious little ESA. I am dreading getting her spayed soon, but I feel a lot better knowing she'll be in such good hands!

Experiencia fantástica: Could not recommend this vet more!! My cat Agnes is very fearful with a history of abuse before I got her. Even a delivery at the front door can make her hide out for the rest of the day. Dr MacCormac and Dr Sabidish as well as all of their support staff have been fabulous with her! They do everything they can from the safety of her carrier or from my arms and she ends up purring by the end of the visit!! Her treatment plan feels individualized to her needs and they do everything at her pace and her comfort level, with most of her care done from the safety of her carrier. Highly recommend this vet!!

You are part of our family and our baby Jake cries on the way to visit, but is happy to see you because you all are kind and loving to him and he always gets excellent medical treatment in office and advice when I call. Treatments are a little pricey, but we appreciate the services you provide. Staff is great and we love Joy!

Experiencia fantástica: I'm updating my review from 6 years ago. We're a loyal Hidden Valley Animal Hospital family. We've added two rescued cats to our household. When we rescued them from the streets, we brought them to Hidden Valley Animal Hospital, of course! Dr. Sabadish helped the two cats attain their best health with vaccines, dentals, and complete check-ups. When our 14+ years old dog reached the end of his life, the staff was so compassionate. They allowed us privacy and time to accompany Martin as he crossed the proverbial "Rainbow Bridge". Most recently, one of our cats suffered sudden vomiting and diarrhea. We called, and they had us bring River in ASAP on a Saturday. Through their expert care, River recovered very quickly. I'll add that my two cats are highly reactive, "spicy cats", yet the expert, caring staff somehow calms the cats down, making for successful visits. I highly recommend Hidden Valley Animal Hospital for all stages of your pet's life! My review 6 years ago: We moved here 2 years ago. Our previous vet was wonderful, so there was a high bar to reach for whoever our new vet would be. Hidden Valley Animal Hospital (HVAH) is close to our home and had great reviews, so we decided to try them. We're so happy we did! The entire staff is very caring, empathetic, and professional. My son and I have a large, 12 year old dog and a 3 year old dog. My daughter and her boyfriend have a cat in their home. All three animals are seen by HVAH, specifically by Dr. Rita Sabadish. We love her and the entire staff! The older dog is very cat and dog reactive. To accommodate this, when we arrive for his appointments, the staff makes sure the separate cat entrance and waiting area are clear, so that we can bring Martin directly through to a patient care room. The same on the way out. We appreciate that so much! Dr. Sabadish has a great "bedside" manner with our pets. She has a gentle, yet confident way about her that calms our pets down and makes the visits successful. She gets right down on the floor at my large dog's level which results in a great connection and a trusting dog. Martin has some health issues which, over time, Dr. Sabadish has treated, researched, and tweaked, such that, at age 12, he's the healthiest he has ever been! She even consulted specialists at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine and Duke University! Our younger dog moved to NC from Arizona, and developed allergies. Dr. Sabadish recommended dietary changes and allergy medicine that keeps Cortana's allergies in check. The cat has been seen by Dr. Sabadish since he was a tiny kitten. He was rescued when he was too young to leave his mother, but had been abandoned. Dr. Sabadish gave my daughter excellent advice. Tom is now a healthy, happy, full grown cat. Their pricing is reasonable. And I should mention that they can provide you with dietary supplements and special food, if required, at the same cost you could get it online. The practice is focused on the patent - and the patient's parents. I highly recommend Hidden Valley Animal Hospital!

I trust their advice, which is really practical for a family who loves our weirdo pets but also has constraints to work within. One is a senior lady with all the ailments associated with aging, and one is in a wheelchair due to a spinal cord injury. Between the two, we are frequent flyers at the vet office and have seen nearly all the vets at Hidden Valley Animal hospital. All have been kind, caring, compassionate, competent caregivers, and all the staff are equally so. And I must give a shout out to Dr. Rita Sabadish who has been our primary care physician. From the front desk, to the vet techs, to the veterinarians, this is a top notch veterinary practice and I recommend them to everyone I know.

Experiencia fantástica: I saw Doctor Szabo with my two cats. One of them seemed not to be well. He offered a quick test and found the cat was indeed not well and was suffering. He allowed me time to make the decision and very lovingly and gently put my cat out of misery. I am extremely grateful for his support and gentleness. Will always recommend him and Hidden Valley Animal Hospital.

Experiencia fantástica: Came here for my senior kitty Lola as a new patient. Staff here was very friendly and helpful. I will say the labs were expensive, and you can definitely get them done elsewhere for less. But, my cat is very healthy and so I’m going to continue coming here because everything else is reasonably priced, staff is knowledgeable and caring. Plus, the location is right around the corner from me so you can’t beat that.

We are SO appreciative for Dr. Soares and the rest of the team for the incredible care they have shown throughout the years we have been bringing our little guy to Hidden Valley. We always know Bosley is in the BEST hands whenever we bring him in!

Experiencia fantástica: Milo’s been seeing Dr V. for over 3 years. Every summer he develops a hotspot on his tail from allergies. We noticed some symptoms Wednesday evening. When we called Hidden Valley Thursday morning, Dr V was off, but we could see Dr Berry. We were satisfied with her thorough examination, ideas and treatment options. I was pleased to learn that Dr V. has specific instructions in Milo’s chart regarding his aggression and that Dr Berry had read his file before meeting him. Milo will never be any Vet’s favorite patient, but they treat him without judgment and do the best they can. They were also prompt calling in an allergy refill. Thanks Hidden Valley!

Dr. Berry and the team at Hidden Valley were beyond understanding and very welcoming! I am super happy to have found a doctor that listens to every concern and treats your pets like they are their own! Cannot recommend Hidden Valley enough, they are fantastic!

Experiencia fantástica: We recently started taking our 3 furbabies to Hidden Valley Animal for their veterinary care. Here's what I particularly like about this clinic: the front office staff always answers the phone; I've never been placed on a "brief hold" (aka "long hold" that eventually goes to voicemail or gets dropped) as I almost always was at the previous veterinary practice; the front office staff are friendly and helpful people; the 3 doctors (Sabadish, Soares, and Szabo) who have cared for my pets have provided excellent care with pleasant "bedside manners", taking interest in my animals' health as well as taking thr time to answer and address all my questions and concerns, respectively. I highly recommend Hidden Valley Animal Hospital.

When I moved to Raleigh 5 years ago I used the power of Google to find a new vet for my two cats & saw the reviews here… they were all spot on! I feel so comfortable taking my cats here. Dr Sabadish, all the vet techs, and support staff are wonderful to interact with. You can tell they care about the animals and their owners. My cat Cooper was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism 7 months ago and they answered every question/concern I had and gave us a plan to help him. They went above and beyond to keep me updated and find a solution when his medication was on back order recently. 5 stars isn’t enough!

I am pleased with their professionalism, prompt reply’s, and the veterinary doctor MacCormac was very throughout and gentle. As my dogs age, that need more attention, and I’m happy to report that Hidden Valley provided that to my pups. Thank you guys and keep up the good work. We will be back!

Experiencia fantástica: Great dog grooming service. Petco and other grooming services refused my 16-yo Maltese as he's old and grumpy. The groomer at Hidden Valley took good care of him. Highly recommended!

Experiencia fantástica: I was visiting family when my 20+ year old cat had an urgent but not emergency status GI problem in the evening. They were able to see her 1st thing the next morning. All of the staff was friendly, gentle and accommodating to my little old lady and me - her anxious mother. Age appropriate treatments were recommended wo breaking the bank.

We were so lucky to have found Dr. McCormick at Hidden Valley. Every experience I've had at Hidden Valley Animal Hospital was with caring and knowledgeable veterinarians and polite and helpful administrative staff. Focused on pet well-being, not profits.
