When my 9 month Pyrenees was having some stomach problems they were able to get me in quick and give me all the help I needed! I can’t stress enough that this is the best place to take your pet if they are having some health issues.

Experiencia negativa: Friendly, likable- fine for vaccinations- not much else. Update- took my feline fur ball for neutering. Brought him home, he started bleeding from operative site. Called them- they told me to take him to emergency vet. Emergency got the bleeding under control. The next day - early afternoon he started bleeding again. Even though I called them during office hours, they refused to see him-“ too busy” and sent me to the ER again. I am an RN who worked years in preop and recovery room. If there was ever a human surgeon who acted this way- it would be grounds for malpractice and incompetence. After calling them ( once this emergent issue passed) , the surgeon called , apologized and offered a “free” follow up. Which I took- but would NEVER go back again. I’ve had family members since who went there and had horrible experiences too. If you love your pet- find a different vet.

I have to board my dog once a month and my dog comes back healthy, full of energy, and it’s obvious she’s been cared for. Experiencia fantástica: I have been pleased with every vet that I’ve interacted with at Gentle Animal. Very kind and intentional in their care of our pets. My only recommendation would be when a family has to put an animal down, they should bring in a small blanket for us to drape over our beloved pet before we leave. It was very difficult for us to leave our dog alone And dead on the cold floor. This simple drape would help put our hearts at ease as we walk out of the room. Thank you for caring so well for our pets in the good times and hard times!

Experiencia positiva: I really appreciate the care & greetings they give my dog. They genuinely love every creature that walk in their door. I do find them a little expensive & I cringe every time I ask what the charge is for each service she needs. I also prefer that they perform the exam in the room with me but they take them in the back. Overall I look for a trust in a vet & I do trust them. I would recommend them to a friend.

Experiencia fantástica: my puppy eats . . . Yucky stuff. Thank goodness Gentle Vet could see him right away. The vets work with eachother in case of questions (an abnormal X-Ray) and plans are well communicated. Today, my puppy is recovered. Thankfully he avoided surgery because of the fast intervention at Gentle Vets. I am so grateful to have this vet office available. ********** I have a new puppy and he sees the vets and techs at Gentle Doctor on Maple. They are very thorough, sensitive and, well, GENTLE! My young pup is in good hands. ************ What a relief to find a vet who was willing to work with me on a longterm plan. The office was clean, spacious and staffed with techs who were thoughtful and knowledgeable. After a pretty traumatic experience involving the local vet ophthalmology office, I needed to find a veterinarian willing to make a plan of care that did not require return to that “other” office. I don’t want to put my aged dog through regular (expensive!) monitoring ending with drastic surgery. Dr. Rotthaus was understanding about this AND reassuring. Furthermore, Dr. Rotthaus’s office is able to do the limited screening my dog actually needs re: tear production or addressing conjunctivitis. My dog is comfortable for now; we’re both happy and will carry on, knowing Gentle Doctor has our backs.

Experiencia fantástica: As always, Gentle Doctor takes such good care of my mean cat. Dr. Hays is so kind and patient, and understanding. He doesn't scruff (Which is so wonderful- it makes both me and my cat feel safer) and they truly live up to their name. They are gentle doctors. They make pet care easier, and they are knowledgeable. I can't recommend them enough!

Experiencia negativa: Not good experience lately , brought my dog chewy in for severe mouth pain, doctor sent home with meds as I told them he wasn’t eating or drinking water. Was supposed to have another appointment today but got cancelled. Doctor didn’t even look at my dogs mouth cause he was squirming around not very professional. A couple months prior same thing didn’t look in his mouth. I called Best care on fort and doctor actually called me back and he’s in getting looked at right away. They gave him a sedative to relax him very professional. Doing blood work now

Experiencia fantástica: Took my older cat in to make sure he didn't need a dental cleaning. They took their time giving him an exam, answering any questions I had and asking me questions about his current health and behavior. Nothing felt hurried or rushed. Only thing recommended (with price estimate first) was blood work due to his age and him being on long term medication to make sure he was coping well with the medication. It's refreshing to know that we weren't rushed thru the appointment and no services were forced upon us. They truly cared about his health and wellbeing and my concerns for him.

Experiencia positiva: Appreciate getting our dog in, in such short notice. Previous times when our dog needed to be seen as an acute visit have been told no openings available and offered an office visit several days later. Has become disappointing. Truly appreciated getting seen that day right away. Dr Hayes was great in addressing the concern and getting our dog cared for with reassurance he would be there the following day if needed. Thank you Dr Hayes!!!

Experiencia fantástica: My 16 year old golden, Maggie , spent her later years under the care of the female vets and staff at Gentle Doctor West Maple. I can't pay more of a compliment than to say I trusted them with her life and end of life. She was my other half and I'm lost without her. That was her importance in my life. A few years later and I’m trusting my little guy to Gentle Doctor. There is nothing too good for Tag and Gentle Doctor is simply the best. 2025 and nothing has changed. Still the best for Tag and I. Tag got an A in his check up!

Experiencia fantástica: Gentle Doctor does a great job with my dogs grooming. Have used them for all three of my dogs and they are very attentive and it is easy to also keep up on vaccinations and have a pet seen by a vet for little things that pop up while they are in for grooming. Staff are very friendly and attentive to the pets also.

Experiencia fantástica: Gentle Doctor is the most amazing veterinary practice in Omaha. There isn’t one doctor in that practice that isn’t kind, compassionate, patient, and wise. They listen to your concerns and have an open mind about alternative methods to improving or sustaining your pets’ health. I want to specifically call out how amazing Dr. Taplett is, We recently had to let our beloved dog go, Dr. Taplett was not scheduled to do the euthanasia and she came in on her morning off to do it! If you are looking for the most compassionate vet practice in town, Gentle Doctor is where it’s at.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog had her growth on abdomen removed with surgery. The vet and tech were very friendly and professional. They did follow-up to assure the recovery was progressing okay. They explained everything with very well. The cost was a little pricy, but I love my dog.

Experiencia negativa: We have been talking our girls here for 5 years. Today was the last day we will do this. One of my girls has horrible anxiety when she is with people she doesn’t know even with meds and I have asked them to do exams and vaccines etc with me around and they will not. She expressed her anal glads during the visit today when they took her back and they brought her back to me with gloves and wipes for me to clean her up because they wouldn’t. They are always in a hurry every time we go and are rushing us in and out. The care has gone extremely downhill and I wouldn’t trust them with either of my girls.

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my dog to Gentle Doctor for an allergic reaction. His face was swollen and he had broken out in hives. The staff were all kind and helpful. Our veterinarian helped him feel better quickly!

Experiencia negativa: EDITED: I posted a five star review several months ago, and have different thoughts since. As an autistic person, the experience of going to this practice is extremely overwhelming--not only is the music in reception the reception area loud, the wait time between the vet seeing you and and follow up from the vet/assistant to checkout is extensive (~20 minutes? I sit there in fear that my cat might be diagnosed with something horrific), and you can hear every sound ongoing at the practice (vet assistants talking in the back, dogs barking in the front, etc., which is something I know can't be helped). I've had to go in for a few appointments this year due to my cat's medical issues, and the assistants are different every time--some are quite amiable, while others may not be fit to work with cats (volume control (?), and another scruffed my cat despite knowing that he's quite gentle and won't react to procedures). It made me incredibly sad thinking that, if I was feeling overwhelmed in that environment, that my cat, who was already extremely scared of being there, would be terrified. My poor guy pees himself every time he has an appointment here. I'm not sure what I necessarily wanted to discuss with my review, but I felt I needed to express my frustration with the practice. I felt quite unsatisfied, and, having extensive vet med experience working with fearful and aggressive cats, it upset me that the blanket instinct was to treat my cat as such. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Schedule your appointment over the phone or online! I just adopted a cat, and GDAH has been nothing but accommodating! Staff are all very kind and knowledgeable, and the vets are incredibly caring. I’m glad that, as a first time pet owner, such a great vet practice exists!

The staff at Gentle Doctor could not have been more helpful, patient and pleasant! Dr. Hayes who treated our cat, Ava, was not only extremely knowledgeable, but was also very gentle and caring with our 16 year old cat. He thoroughly explained to us all of our treatment options and addressed all of our concerns. I would highly recommend Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital for all of your pet care needs.

Experiencia fantástica: I came here for a second opinion and they were able to figure out the front limping was due to hip dysplasia and not a sore shoulder like my last vet kept trying to fix. They did this in the first visit. I have since moved all pets over. Love the way the lobby is set up to help separate pets. Everyone is amazing and highly knowledgeable.

Experiencia negativa: If I could I would have put ZERO stars. I brought my dog to be groomed and am beyond disappointed. Autumn did a chop job on our goldendoodle. She is very uneven and has some bald spots where she was shaved to the skin and had cuts on her. Her ears look like a child hacked them with dull scissors. I could add more, but I hope you get the idea. NEVER AGAIN!

Experiencia fantástica: We needed someone to see our little dog as he was suffering digestive issues. Our regular vet was booked solid for several days. We looked for someone who took emergensy cases. Gentle Doctor came up in our search. In short they were fantastic. Kind and easy to work with. We were on our way home in a very short time with medication and special food to treat the problem that same day.

Experiencia fantástica: A few months ago, we realized that our 10year old dog was having seizures. We took her into to Gentle Doctor (our normal vet) and they went above and beyond. We found out she had a tumor on her pancreas, causing her to produce too much insulin. She was put on a steroid to help which led to her immune system to becoming weak and developing a skin rash. Gentle Doctor was there every step of the way. They had their best interest in our little girl to help her and they were honest every step of the way. Sadly she did not get better, but Dr. Hayes helped make her comfortable and show her love while we said goodbye. Amanda even gave us one last photo of our sweet girl

Our last groomer cut our dogs tail so bad it had to be amputated, so we let them know he may be a little skittish but to just be gentle with him. He seemed so happy when he was done, and he looks great. We’re very happy with how they did and really appreciate their gentle approach to working with Chase. We can’t thank them enough.

She talked me off the wall a couple of time with my puppy. They always take time for questions! My 8 month old Goldendoodle just got spayed and the service was top notch! Experiencia fantástica: I have 4 dogs and take all of them to Gentle Dr for their vaccinations, wellness checkups including sr exams, and dental work. The doctors and the staff are great to work with and I can tell that they care about all of their patients!

Experiencia negativa: I had a pretty terrible experience here. Brought my dog in for throwing up on and off with diarrhea for his last year of life. They never have answers. They did an X-ray and stool sample and all came back clear. They total for this visit was $405 and when I asked if I could just pay half today and the rest Friday they said then I couldn’t take the antibiotic they prescribed, the new prescription food they said he needed, or the dewormer tablet they said he needed. I was shocked they wouldn’t put the dog first in this scenerio and with tears running down my face I had to put $405 on a credit card before I could leave with what my dog needed that day. They didn’t say anything about how the flee/tick/worm simparticaTrio they have been giving him could cause this. They didn’t tell me he could have a food allergy. They just said next they wanna do blood work which is costly. Wondering what costly is to them if they didn’t think the $405 was. Very disheartening experience here. If you need a good vet- look elsewhere trust me! 10/24/23 - Editing this to add my response to the gentle doctor reply below- they DID NOT at all offer a payment plan option. They said if I didn't pay the full total of 405$ right then and there that I could not leave with his antibiotic and the new food. I am not sure why The Gentle Doctor would decide to completely lie below but that further proves how awful this place is. ALSO took my dog to a different vet a few days ago because of course after the antibiotic was done he began throwing up and having bowel issues again. The new vet immediately realized that my dog has a food intolerance. She didn't try to run hundreds of dollars of tests. She knew right away after I explained everything as I did to Gentle Doctor. My dog is now on a fish diet and doing great. Find a vet that listens and isn't trying to take advantage - they do exist!

Experiencia fantástica: We recently moved to Omaha and needed a new vet to care for our lil ol' lady, a small, older rescued mutt. She has some spine and pain issues, and the vets at Gentle Dr treated her wonderfully. They spend time with past records and with us getting to know her and make good care decisions based on all of it. The plan of care and findings are clear, concise, and planned out in advance. The notes are printed on each receipt after very visit so you can see it, as well. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. I look forward to future visits with this dog and any future pets.

They even called to check up on him after his last appointment. Their prices are very reasonable compared to other places I’ve gone. I’m so glad to have found Gentle Doctor for my pets!

As always, we can’t say enough good things about the care he receives from Dr Taplett. She addressed all our concerns, answered our questions and is both knowledgeable and personable!
